Martin Lewis in tears with ‘agonising’ throat ulcer

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Lewis has been left in tears by an “agonising” throat ulcer making it “impossible” for him to do live TV work.
The Money Saving Expert founder hasn’t been able to leave the house for the past four days due to the painful condition, and he was forced to cancel an appearance on ‘Good Morning Britain’ this week.
Taking to Facebook, the ‘Martin Lewis Money Show’ star said: “Throatgate day 4. Thanks for all the well wishes. I wanted to give you an honest update as so many of you have been asking and been so kind.
“Sadly, I’m no better – you’ll have seen I couldn’t do Good Morning Britain today – live TV is impossible.
“Last night I saw a specialist who confirmed I’ve a large, vicious ulcer in my throat (I won’t post a picture of it) – not a cold/flu.
“Unfortunately eating and speaking are truly agonising, causing the left of my face and neck to go into spasm – leaving me close (or sometimes in) tears.
“There is no treatment but to wait, though I’m finding that tough as there’s no sign of improvement and sleeping is hard. (sic)”
The 46-year-old journalist – who hosts financial advice segments on ‘This Morning’ – is going to try to film some links for his own Monday show in advance.
He added: “I’m going to go and try and film the links for my Monday show today. I’ve been given a special local anaesthetic to get me through it (I’ve been told doing it won’t make things worse).
“The team are very considerate – I won’t be able to do retakes – and will have to rest 20 minutes before each take.
“I must admit to literally shaking with nerves about leaving the house to do it, but I’m doing it as I want to, as sitting in the house in pain has made me rather low. (sic)”

Bring Me The Horizon want Coronation Street cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Bring Me The Horizon want a ‘Coronation Street’ cameo.
The band’s bassist Matt Kean is said to be “desperate” to appear on the cobbles, and as a result the group’s representatives have made contact with the ITV soap’s bosses to see if the ‘Sleepwalking’ hitmakers can grace Weatherfield with their presence soon.
A source close to the band said: “Matt has always loved ‘Corrie’ and is desperate for a cameo on the show.
“Their team have reached out to soap bosses to try to make it a reality and think it could be a fun thing for viewers too.”
One option for the band could be a scene involving Weatherfield’s new tattoo shop, because the group have a number of inkings between them.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: “The Street got a tattoo shop last year and they suggested a scene linked to that, seeing as they have their fair share of body art.”
But Bring Me the Horizon are not the only huge music stars who have an eye on the cobbles.
Last year, Katy Perry admitted she loves catching up with the goings-on in Weatherfield, and ‘EastEnders’, when she is in the UK.
She said: “I am obsessed with this country. I fall in love with the English very easily.
“I like to watch ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘EastEnders’.”
Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger is also a big ‘Corrie’ fan, and he made a quip about the show’s former serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) during the band’s Old Trafford gig in the city in June.
He told the crowd: “We went to the Northern Quarter. We went down the Curry Mile and I think I saw Pat Phelan. He was eating some papadums!”

Len Goodman slams plan to scrap free TV licences for pensioners

OHMYGOSSIP — Len Goodman has blasted plans to scrap free TV licences for pensioners.
The 74-year-old star has described television as a “precious window to the modern world” for many elderly people who have become lonely in their old age, after potential proposals were unveiled to make over-75s pay for the privilege.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “For some older people telly is their only companion. It’s what breaks the day up when they don’t see anyone and keeps them in touch with the news.
“TV provides entertainment and educational value for older people.
“But it’s a much greater source of comfort and companionship to those living in loneliness and those who are housebound. For the chronically lonely TV must be a precious window to the modern world.”
Former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Len added it would be a “worry” for may pensioners, who might not be able to afford the £150.50 fee – which will rise to £154.50 per year in April.
Len is backing Age UK’s Switched Off: Save Free TV for Over-75s campaign, and the star – who is an ambassador for the charity – has spoken out about loneliness for older people.
He added: “Life is one big rush and no one has time to stop and chat. But a friendly natter can make an enormous difference.”
Len previously hinted at working towards retirement, opening up on the most recent season of US show ‘Dancing With The Stars’, which finished in November.
He said at the time: “This may be my last season. It’s the end of my contract and they may not what to have me any more. They might have had enough of me.
“I don’t want to retire totally but I’m quite happy doing nothing – reading a book and pottering in the garden.”

Saara Aalto still has headache after Dancing on Ice smash

OHMYGOSSIP — Saara Aalto still has a headache after smashing her head just seconds before her ‘Dancing on Ice’ performance last week – but is “hoping it’ll be fine” on Sunday (10.02.19).
The 31-year-old singer’s pro skating partner Hamish Gaman has been taking it “really carefully” with her routine in training this week after she bashed her bonce on the ice just seconds before her live performance last Sunday (03.02.19), and she is still feeling the effects.
She said: “We’re getting there. It’s hard, we’ve been training a lot but I still have a little headache.
“Hamish has been really careful this week. He’s like, ‘We cannot strain your body too much.’
“So hopefully it’ll be fine on Sunday.”
Saara admits she had “no idea” whether she was fit enough to perform last Sunday following the incident, but she was determined to go out onto the rink after “training so hard” last week.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: “It was a minute before I had to go and perform. We were just rehearsing one of the lifts and I fell, hit my head on the ice, medics came and they were like, ‘Can you go and perform?’
“I was like, ‘Um…’ I didn’t know but I had to say yes, because we had trained so hard.
“We had no idea if I could actually do it.
“I just had to survive.”
Following her fall, Saara picked up her best score, 33.5, from the judges after she performed.
Fellow ‘Dancing on Ice’ celebrity contestant Jane Danson was also in the wars shortly before Sunday’s show.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress fainted in rehearsals but managed to recover in time to perform, and also went on to score her best points tally to date, 23.5, from the judges.

Nadine Mulkerrin: Working with fiancé is best thing about Hollyoaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadine Mulkerrin says the “best thing” about working on ‘Hollyoaks’ is hanging out with her fiance Rory Douglas-Speed.
The couple got engaged in December and the 25-year-old star loves spending time with the 26-year-old hunk on and off set, but also admits she is “very lucky” to have been blessed with such “brilliant storylines” on the Channel 4 soap.
She said: “The best thing about working on the ‘Hollyoaks’ set is hanging out with the likes of Rory and everyone I get to work with.
“I’m always being challenged with brilliant storylines, so I consider myself a very lucky girl.”
While Nadine and Rory are going strong, the same cannot be said for their characters’ romance after Cleo McQueen and Joel Dexter surprisingly split last year.
And Cleo now looks to be moving on with Mitchell Deveraux, who is played by ‘Hollyoaks’ newcomer Imran Adams, after Nadine admitted the pair have a “bright future”.
She said: “I think Mitchell and Cleo have a bright future ahead its exciting.
“I know the fans will be sad for #Cleoj to be over, but Cleo and Joel have been through quite a lot and never quite seem to figure it out, so maybe she needs a new man in her life, and I think Mitchell is a good egg and from a lovely family so he could be what she needs.
“I love working with Imran, he’s such a great addition to the cast.”
Nadine was left “impressed” with Imran’s first scene, which involved him having to strip off.
She said: “Bless Imran, his first scene for ‘Hollyoaks’ was a strip tease.
“That was quite impressive. If you can come to ‘Hollyoaks’ and get your clothes off straight away then I’m impressed.”

Susan Boyle teases four ‘secret’ songs for new LP

OHMYGOSSIP — Susan Boyle will release a new album featuring four new “secret” songs.
The 57-year-old star – who was the runner-up on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2009 – recently introduced herself to an even wider audience when she appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’ last month, and she’s unveiled plans for her highly anticipated eighth studio record.
The new LP – title ‘Ten’ and set for release on March 31 – will feature some fresh tracks alongside greatest hits like ‘I Dreamed A Dream’.
Susan told the Mirror: “I’m a lady who likes to surprise.
“Which is why I want to keep the four new songs a secret for now and give you something to look forward to! We live in a time where there are very few surprises any more.”
The star is also planning a huge tour, as she looks to take her show on the road for a fresh run of dates.
The wave of positive news comes after a rocky couple of years for the singer.
In 2016, she was removed from Heathrow Airport after she got into a heated argument with a staff member in the British Airways lounge on her way back to her home in Scotland.
And the following year, it was revealed she had been the victim of torment from a gang of up to 15 teenagers who targeted her in her hometown of Blackburn, West Lothian.
In once instance, the teens set light to paper and threw it at her, but Susan is determined to fight back and refuses to let the bullies push her out of her home.
She previouly said: “They have been shouting at me, taunting, saying vile things, swearing. And on one occasion they were throwing things at the bus I was sitting on.
“I love my house, it’s where I grew up. Why would I move out because of a group of teenagers who behave like that? They are bullies who shout and throw things, but it is my home and where I feel safe.”

Courtney Love says couture fashion is ‘over’ her pay grade

OHMYGOSSIP — Courtney Love says current couture is “way over” her “pay grade”.
The 54-year-old rock musician – the widow of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who tragically died in 1994 – has revealed that she loves collecting vintage Dior items from the 1950s because it’s her favourite era, however, the star admitted that she can’t afford current high end fashion pieces because they’re too expensive for her to buy.
Speaking to the New York Post newspaper, Courtney said: “I went to the Valentino Couture [last month] and it changed my life. [My former stylist] Arianne Phillips told me a long time ago to go to the couture [show] and it would change my life. And then it did. It was absolutely beautiful. I collect old Dior, I like 50s couture.”
Opening up about the current cost of high-fashion couture, Courtney added: “Oh my God, it’s way over my pay grade!”
The ‘Malibu’ singer – who has 26-year-old daughter Frances Bean Cobain from her relationship with Kurt – recently auctioned 43 pieces from her personal wardrobe on Heroine.com, to benefit the anti-bullying foundation Stand For Courage.
Courtney also confessed that she has kept her most treasured items in her closet because they are “meaningful” to her.
She said: “I have the [white silk] Versace dress from the Academy Awards, and some other ones that are meaningful like that and important in my life. But just by the skin of my teeth.
“I’ve moved a lot and had different habits in life, and I’ve attracted different people, and some of those people had sticky fingers and that’s the way it goes. Yeah. Otherwise, I have a pretty good wardrobe.”

Kendall Jenner: Kylie isn’t pregnant or engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner has claimed her sister Kylie Jenner and her boyfriend Travis Scott are just “practicing” having another child.
The 21-year-old beauty mogul – who already has 12-month-old daughter Stormi Webster with the 26-year-old rapper – recently teased fans that she could be expecting another child with a post on Instagram, but she later clarified that she wasn’t pregnant.
Alongside a picture of the couple sharing an embrace on the stairs, Kylie had joked: “baby #2?”
But when a fan asked if she was pregnant, she replied: “no lol. (sic)”
Kylie’s older sister has now addressed the rumours and claimed that perhaps her sister was just feeling broody because she is so loved-up with the ‘Goosebumps’ hitmaker.
Appearing on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Friday (08.02.19), Kendall said: “She’s not [pregnant].
“I think she was just like, ‘We are like looking good and we’re really into each other and maybe baby #2 is gonna happen.’ They’re practicing.”
Praising her sister, she continued: “She’s really interesting. Love her. I love her so much. She has a mind of her own,” Kendall added. “She’s really clever. I don’t think she’s pregnant.”
The 23-year-old model also poured cold water on rumours that Kylie got engaged to Travis at the Super Bowl at the weekend – where he joined Maroon 5 on stage.
She said: “If she did, she hasn’t told the family yet. I don’t think that has happened.”
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star has made no secret of the fact she wants more kids with the singer, with a source recently revealing that Kylie wants to have another baby “sooner rather than later”.
They said: “They want another baby. Travis has been adjusting his work schedule so he can spend as much time [as possible] with Kylie and Stormi. There will definitely be another baby sooner rather than later.
“Kylie wants a big family. [Travis] bends over backwards to cater to Kylie and Stormi.”
And Travis wants to get married to Kylie “soon”.
He confessed: “We was just two kids, f***ing around. Maybe, like, the first week, you don’t know if it’s real or a fling.
“Then the second week you’re like, ‘Whoa, I’m still talking to her, she’s responding, I’m responding.
“We ain’t run out of a thing to say.’ And it got to a point where I was like, ‘I need her with me to operate.
“She’s that one.’
“We’ll get married soon. I just gotta sturdy up – I gotta propose in a fire way …
“People don’t understand how real my girl is. How ill she is.
“They have assumptions, bulls**t-ass remarks of what they think is going on.
“Nah, bro … Knowing a girl that famous, you’d think she’s like, ‘I need to go send somebody to do this for me,’ or ‘I need 15
motherf***ers around me,’ but we just walk out the crib.
“Me, I hate cameras … And then you realise she is normal as possible.
“I realised what really mattered to her, which is none of this s**t.
“She’s the coolest motherf***er of all time.”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas had ‘panic attack’ on wedding day

OHMYGOSSIP — Priyanka Chopra Jonas had a “panic attack” moments before she walked down the aisle.
The ‘Baywatch’ actress tied the knot with pop star Nick Jonas during a three-day wedding last year, and she has revealed that she had a “freak out” when her 75-foot veil was being attached to her.
She told ‘Good Morning America’: “I kind of had a freak out moment right before I was supposed to walk down the aisle.
“I remember them putting the veil on me and the veil was like 75-feet, but I had a freak out moment when I was standing behind the curtains.
“They were going to tell me when to walk out and the music was going to start playing… I just started having a panic attack.”
However, as soon as she caught a glimpse of the groom she was put at ease.
She added: “Then the doors opened and I saw [Nick] and I cannot forget that moment.”
The 36-year-old star also opened up about how “different” it is being a wife.
She said: “Married life is different. There’s a big difference between a husband and a boyfriend, even a husband and a fiancé.
“I didn’t understand the gravity of that when I got married.
“But it’s a good thing to be married to a good husband. That makes it easy.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Quantico’ actress recently revealed she “always wanted” to take her spouse’s surname.
Priyanka decided to add the former Jonas Brothers star’s last name to her own because she doesn’t want to “take away” her identity and instead “add” him to who she is.
She said: “The gravity of it, it’s like a big deal! I didn’t realise it was that much of a big deal until I did it … No, I always wanted to add his name to mine because I feel like we’re becoming family, and I’m a little traditional and old school like that. But I don’t take away my identity. He gets added to who I am.”
The high profile duo wanted their three ceremonies to be “super intimate”, despite Indian weddings traditionally being much larger.
She shared: “One Indian ceremony, one western Christian ceremony, and one day of pre-rituals, which we have in the Hindu wedding. Usually Indian weddings are 1,000 people at least. We had only 200, which was mostly family because both of us have giant families. I think we just wanted to keep it super intimate.”

Danniella Westbrook took cocaine ‘maybe once a week’

OHMYGOSSIP — Danniella Westbrook has admitted to taking “half a gram” of cocaine “maybe once week”.
The 45-year-old actress-and-television personality appeared on ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ on Friday (08.02.19) after she revealed the show’s host has helped her start her journey to a “drug free life” by sending her to rehab for the next three months.
The former soap star broke down in tears as confessed to relapsing and taking a “line of gear” eight weeks ago, before admitting that if she could, she would go back to taking “11 bags a day”.
Speaking about the abuse she has received for her cocaine addiction from trolls, she told Jeremy: “I only take coke, I don’t take anything else.
“But I am unhappy, Jeremy.
“And I’m sick of getting bullied by people … and I try my best, you know what I was 14 years clean.
“I could walk down Oxford Street with Jesus strapped to my back you know and people would still say ‘cokehead’.
“I could resurrect God and people would still say ‘cokehead’, because that’s the way it is.”
On how much cocaine she had consumed over the past two months, she sad: “Not a lot, a 40 – half a gram. Maybe once a week. Listen, if I had the money, I would be back to where I used to be – doing 11 bags a day.
“I’ll be straight up honest with you, I would.”
She then claimed that she had been off the drug for three days, due to spending time with a close friend.
She said: “I’ve been with a friend of mine and she’s a fighter and she wont let me do anything.”
When Jeremy then asked: “So the only reason that you’re not doing more coke is you can’t afford it?”, she replied: “No, it’s not that I can’t afford it – I’ve got other things to do.”
Revealing that her long-time friend Jeremy was helping her, she had tweeted: “For those of you asking my good mate Jezza had me on his show which is being Aired in the morning & has kindly sent me 2 rehab for 3 months. I’m grateful & excited 2 have the chance 2 get the drug free life I had for 14years back. Thank u 4 ur support especially my @KJ_Artist (sic)”
The former ‘EastEnders’ star had revealed earlier this week that she was on her first day of a 10 week programme to “change her life”.
She wrote at the time: “The first day on a 10 week program which will change my life make me strong and give me the tools too never feel the way I’ve felt the last four years … I’m never looking back. (sic)”
Danniella has struggled with drug addiction for several years, and recently said she hasn’t spoken to her 17-year-old daughter Jody – whom she has with her former husband Kevin Jenkins – in three years, as she’s been forced to deal with her addictions and an online stalker.
But after being diagnosed with womb cancer, Danniella says she wants to get back in touch with Jody, especially as she doesn’t know what her long-term prognosis is.
She said: “Jody is with her dad and that’s just a whole different issue because of different things but the stalker did play a huge part in that for her own safety. I haven’t spoken to Jody for three years. She’s 17, she’s gorgeous. Look, it’s very difficult, especially since I’ve been ill. Jody is doing her life and she’s doing very well, she’s done brilliantly at school and now she’s in college and she’s doing great, and her dad is a great dad and he’s doing what’s best for her, right now. It’s probably a safer and much better environment for her whilst I’ve got all this stuff going on, with trials and different things and being ill, she should be there right now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit Morocco ahead of the birth of their first child.
Prince Harry, 34, and his wife Meghan, 37, are due to welcome a little boy or girl into the world this spring – around April and May time – but before their little bundle of joy is born, they will carry out a royal visit to the North African country on behalf of Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, between February 23 and February 25.

“Full details of the visit will be announced in due course.”
It’s a busy year for the couple as they are also set to move from their two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London to 10-bedroom Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle – where they tied the knot last May – before their baby is born.
Kensington Palace previously said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will more to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child. Imran Adams thought Hollyoaks stripping scenes were ‘a joke’

OHMYGOSSIP — Imran Adams thought it was a joke when he was told his first ‘Hollyoaks’ scene would involve him stripping off.
The actor joked his agent didn’t tell him he would have to take his clothes off on national TV when he joined the Channel 4 soap as Mitchell Deveraux, and he only found out the full details of his alter-ego’s striptease on the morning of his shoot.
He said: “My agent never told me about any stripper scenes. The stripper scene was my first scene I shot for ‘Hollyoaks’.
“I didn’t know the full details until the morning of the shoot, so I get on the ‘Hollyoaks’ set, which was my first time ever, with the director Miguel.
“He’s smiling and telling me what’s expected and what his vision is, and all along I’m just waiting for him to tell me that he’s joking, and that there’s no way I’m going to be stripping on national television.
“But after the third take of me grinding on Nana McQueen with a bunch of extras in nothing but tiny shiny gold pants, there was something in my head that was telling me, ‘Welcome to ‘Hollyoaks’!’ ”
Imran believes his character is “like no other” on British TV, and says it “made sense” for Mitchell to strip off, unbeknown to his “very strict, religious family”.
He added: “He really is like no other character I have seen or heard of on British TV.
“I think that’s refreshing, and the writers and storyline supervisors are so great at what they do it just makes sense.
“Living in a household where his grandad told him all of his life’s answers are in one book and one book alone, The Bible, it made sense for him to do something so bold and brave without his family knowing, especially his grandad.
“I think the truth is that he really enjoys it. You can’t knock a brother’s hustle I’m telling you.”

Kate Winslet’s amazing underwater feat

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Winslet held her breath underwater for eight minutes at a time on the set of ‘Avatar’.
The 43-year-old actress plays Ronal, a free-diver of the Metkayina clan, in the hotly-anticipated sequels to the fantasy movies and producer Jon Landau was impressed with how quick she picked up the new skill.
Speaking at the IMAX Q&A for ‘Alita: Battle Angel, he said: “We built a water tank that was 500,000 gallons of water, and we are doing performance-capture under the water, on the surface of the water, and above the water. We trained our cast to free-breath-hold, because in the sequences they have to just be swimming, they can’t be on scuba, and they have to be able to do long takes.
“So we had a gentleman named Kirk Krack come in and train everybody that needed to be underwater how to go underwater and how to hold their breath. Kate Winslet had to train in this and she got up to a static breath hold of just about seven minutes. It’s amazing, it’s mind over matter. You see Kate going underwater and she just felt so comfortable. There was one day, we have a tank where she was just rehearsing and testing and we have some windows into it, and I go in there and she’s just walking on the bottom [of the tank] left and right, left and right, left and right, then she sees me in the window and she just waves. I couldn’t believe it!”
Director James Cameron – who also worked with Kate on 1997’s ‘Titanic’ was thrilled to welcome her on board.
He said at the time: “Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on ‘Titanic’, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”

Casey Affleck’s directorial naivety

OHMYGOSSIP — Casey Affleck was “naive” to think it would be easy to direct ‘Light Of My Life’.
The 43-year-old actor wrote, directed and starred in the drama film and admits he thought it wouldn’t be too bad to take the helm of the movie because it was on a “smaller scale”.
He said: “I know. It is. I was naive enough to think that this would be easy because it was a smaller scale. It was hard but I would do it over and over again.”
And Casey would like to continue directing in the future but he also wants to act aswell.
He added: “I would like to be able to tell stories that originate with me – that feel important to me, close to me. But acting is something I have done a long time and feel like I am starting to get good at, and it helps me stay sane, and it’s how I pay bills and feed the kids and meet people and see new places, and I love it. And when I work with other directors, I learn a lot from them. So I would like to act some and try to tell a few stories of my own as well … There are so many directors I admire and want to work for, and directors who I can learn from, and I want to continue to work with them.”
And Elisabeth Moss praised Affleck for being “extremely collaborative and generous”.
She told Deadline: “I’m a tremendous fan of his as an actor so it’s really cool to be directed by someone like that because, basically, you just want to do whatever they tell you so you can try to be as good as they are. He was extremely collaborative and generous in letting me create the role, give any script notes or ideas, and really contribute to my part of the story. As an actor, it’s so helpful to be a part of a process like that and to be able to really make something your own, which he gave to me as a director. There was a lot of trust because he knew the material so well and knew exactly what he wanted. I just followed his lead and tried to help tell his story.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Cornish thinks it is a “miracle” that ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’ was ever made.
The 50-year-old filmmaker is responsible for the modern day adaptation of King Arthur, which sees schoolboy Alex – played by Louis Ashbourne Serkis – stumble upon the mythical sword Excalibur and join forces with the wizard, Merlin.
And Cornish is just “grateful” the film got made, as he admitted he likes seeing people’s different “reactions” to the fantasy adventure.
Speaking to The Guardian, Cornish said: “I think it’s a miracle that it got made. And I feel really grateful and proud that it got made. And that people are seeing it and that reactions, critically and from audiences, are good. I can’t complain about anything. It’s a real anomaly.”
The director also confessed that he likes making movies especially for children because it’s “healthy” for them to get stuck into a completely different world.
He added: “I guess superhero movies have started to work for both children and adults in a slightly troubling way. There’s something a bit healthy about having something just for children.
“It’s not the same period in your life and in your mind. It shouldn’t be, should it? I suppose both movies are a sort of way to have children for a bit. To borrow them and then give them back.”
Sir Patrick Stewart – who plays Merlin in the movie – previously revealed he re-watched his performance in ‘Excalibur’ to prepare for ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’.
Speaking about his research for the new flick, he said: “I’d watched ‘Excalibur’, because that was the first large-scale movie that I was ever in. That was 1981, and I wanted to see what themes in that movie would overlap with [writer Joe Cornish’s script] … and there were actually quite a few. Although I think ‘Excalibur’ was a little bit more harsh, perhaps, than ‘The Kid Who Would Be King.'”
