Oli Sykes ruptures vocal chords

OHMYGOSSIP — Oli Sykes has “ruptured” his vocal chords.
The 32-year-old frontman of rock band Bring Me The Horizon has taken to Twitter to reveal the band have been forced to cancel the remainder of their US tour, because he’s in “serious danger of doing permanent damage” to his voice if he doesn’t take a break to rest his vocal chords.
In a message posted on both his own Twitter, and the band’s official page, he wrote: “Hey everyone,
“I’m gutted to announce we have to cancel the remainder of our American tour. I’ve ruptured my right vocal chord, and I’ve been told if I don’t rest it immediately I’m in serious danger of doing permanent damage. I’ve been trying my best to fulfil our commitments as I really really hate letting you guys down, not to mention these shows have been literally the most fun ever – but at this point me singing would be the equivalent of a football running on a broken leg.. once again I’m so sorry, I hope you all understand.
“Oli (sic)”
The ‘Medicine’ hitmakers had two dates left on their US run – a show in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday (15.02.19), and one in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday (16.02.19).
However, Bring Me The Horizon are due to perform in London on Tuesday (19.02.19) at a special show for the charity War Child, and it is unknown at the time of writing whether or not they will be able to take to the stage at the event.
Meanwhile, Oli recently opened up about his past addiction to ketamine, which he sought treatment for in 2014.
He said: “It was a wake-up call. I’d surrounded myself by people in a really bad place. I was hearing voices in my head and that was scaring me. I felt I was going mad. I never wanted to go back there. I’m so glad I got through it and am here today, looking forward.”

Andrew Scott: Everyone’s suffered with their mental health

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Scott doesn’t think there’s “a person in the world” who hasn’t suffered with their mental health.
The 42-year-old actor has said he doesn’t think it’s “healthy” to always put a “positive spin” on things when he’s feeling down, as he believes everyone has days where they don’t feel great, and wants everyone to understand that it’s normal to feel as though it’s “storming down”.
When asked if he’s ever had mental health problems, he said: “I don’t think there’s a person in the world who hasn’t. It’s like being asked if you have ever been physically ill, and saying, ‘Nope, never had anything wrong!’ Of course I have.
“For me, it’s like weather. Sometimes it’s f***ing storming down on you. This idea of west coast positivity p***es me off, the idea of putting a positive spin on it. I don’t think it’s healthy. There’s no point in being in the driving rain and going, ‘Shine, sun, shine!’ You can’t do it. You’ve just got to be in the weather. And that’s where I think our biggest problems come from.”
And although he believes people need to face their mental health head on, he does think there’s still “so much more” to learn about the challenges surrounding the topic.
He added: “We’re still at the tip of the iceberg, in terms of our understanding of mental health. We need to learn so much more.”
The ‘Sherlock’ star also believes that it’s “really f***ing important” to learn how to “take things a little more lightly”.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, he said: “I love the idea of playfulness. And you do play a part. It’s really f***ing important in life. Just taking things a little more lightly.”

Travis Scott inspires Houston mayor to build theme park

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis Scott has inspired the mayor of Houston to construct a new theme park in the city.
The 26-year-old rapper named his recently released third studio album ‘Astroworld’ in memory of an old theme park – named Six Flags AstroWorld – in his home city of Houston, Texas, which closed down in 2005.
But after performing in Houston as part of his ‘Astroworld Tour’ – which sees him take to the stage alongside an ambitious set up including a rollercoaster and a ferris wheel – earlier this week, the city’s mayor Sylvester Turner has announced they will be rebuilding the amusement park thanks to Travis.
Speaking whilst on stage with the ‘Sicko Mode’ hitmaker at the Toyota Center where he presented Travis with a key to the city of Houston, Sylvester said: “Because of him, we want to bring another amusement park back to Houston.”
The mayor then doubled down on his comments when he gave a statement to ABC13 the following day.
His message read: “It is a priority of my administration to always promote Houston as a world class city. To that end, I am proposing to create a one of a kind permanent amusement park in the City of Houston. This venue would serve as an entertainment destination for local families and attract interest from a global audience. I first discussed the idea a few years ago and it recently gained momentum through my conversations with Grammy-nominated performer Travis Scott, whose album and concert tour pay homage to Astroworld, Houston’s former theme park. The City is currently in discussions with architects and developers and we hope to partner with investors who have an interest in making this vision a reality. Houston is a great city that offers many wonderful seasonal events and attractions. A permanent amusement park would create year-round opportunities.”
Before releasing his album, Travis – who has 12-month-old daughter Stormi with his girlfriend Kylie Jenner – said he wished the theme park would return to Houston.
He said: “That’s what it’s going to sound like, like taking an amusement park away from kids. We want it back. We want the building back. That’s why I’m doing it. It took the fun out of the city.”

Jussie Smollett ‘angered by claims he’s familiar with attackers’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jussie Smollett is “angered and devastated” by suggestions he’s familiar with his alleged attackers.
The 36-year-old actor – who required hospital treatment after he was attacked last month – has rubbished claims that he knows the people responsible for the incident, after Chicago Police announced they had “shifted the trajectory” of their investigation.
Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, the actor’s attorneys, said in a statement: “As a victim of a hate crime who has co-operated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with.
“He has now been further victimised by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”
Jussie claims to have been the victim of a racist and homophobic attack.
The actor has also dismissed the suggestion that he was somehow complicit in the incident.
The statement continued: “One of these purported suspects was Jussie’s personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video.
“It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity.”
The statement was released shortly after two brothers arrested in connection with the attack on Jussie were released without charge.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi wrote on Twitter: “Due to new evidence as a result of today’s interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the ‘Empire’ case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete.”
Jussie previously discussed the incident on ‘Good Morning America’, saying it had all happened “so fast”.
He added: “It felt like minutes but it was probably [over in] 30 seconds.”

Abbey Clancy reveals the ‘secret’ to her happy marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Abbey Clancy thinks having an independent life is the “secret” to a happy marriage.
The 33-year-old model – who is currently pregnant with her fourth child – has been married to soccer star Peter Crouch since 2011, but she believes that having her own interests and her own friendship group has been a crucial element to their happiness.
Abbey – who already has kids Sophia, seven, Liberty, three, and 12-month-old Johnny – told The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine: “The secret to a happy marriage is you’re not with each other 24/7.
“Although he’s 38 now, so I think he’ll have one or two more years of playing football. Then hopefully we won’t kill each other being at home together all the time, or you’ll be doing the divorce interview next.”
Abbey previously said that her first three pregnancies caused everything to go “wrong” with her appearance.
The blonde beauty admitted to suffering a variety of different problems, including acne and hair loss, during her pregnancies.
Recalling her hair loss, she shared: “It was really scary – every time I got a shower, there was just clumps of hair coming out.
“Every time I brushed my hair, it would fall out. It happened throughout my pregnancy, and after giving birth. I was just thinking ‘when is this going to stop? Am I going to be left with any hair?’
“It was scary, but the things we go through to have our lovely babies. You’d give your whole head of hair to have a healthy baby. But for anyone, hair loss can be a very scary thing.”
Abbey also revealed her pregnancies caused her skin to breakout.
She said: “I really suffered in my pregnancies, and everything that could go wrong with your appearance, did.
“Obviously my hair fell out, then my skin just went mad and I was covered in spots – but literally as soon as the baby came out, my skin cleared up.”

Ricky Gervais: Controversy is boring

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais finds controversy boring.
The 57-year-old comedian is well-known for his outspoken views, but Ricky has insisted he doesn’t make a conscious decision to upset people or to spark controversy.
He confessed: “Controversy bores me, it gets in the way.”
Ricky’s new TV project is the Netfix series ‘After Life’, which tells the story of a married man who has a perfect life before his wife suddenly dies.
On the show, Ricky’s character, Tony, contemplates committing suicide, and the comedy star has admitted he’s actually “in favour of assisted suicide and voluntary euthanasia”.
Asked whether it’s something he would do, Ricky told the Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine: “I know that I’d want it. I hope when I’m ready to go you can just go to Boots and get something for it.
“I hope we get more advanced and more liberal, that there’s not all this hate for people who want to do it, all this going: ‘How dare you?’ That’s madness.”
The new show also portrays the female characters as the strong figures in the story.
And Ricky claims he’s always resisted the typical “damsel-in-distress nonsense”.
The stand-up comedian – whose new show also features his former ‘Extras’ co-star Ashley Jensen – explained: “Growing up, to me women weren’t the weaker sex. They held it together. They had to be like lionesses.
“So I’ve never done the damsel-in-distress nonsense. I always try to make strong female characters, instead of using them as props for men to be funny or heroic. Because that’s just not true. It’s nearly always the opposite in real life. The lionesses do all the work.”

Chaka Khan: I don’t listen to music

OHMYGOSSIP — Chaka Khan doesn’t listen to music.
The 65-year-old singer has revealed she’s made a conscious decision to stop listening to music, because she now considers it to just be her “job”.
She said: “I don’t listen to music at all. Because that’s my job. Do you go home and do interviews with your cat? The last thing I do is music when I’m home.”
Chaka has won as many as 10 Grammys during her career. But she doesn’t measure her success by the number of awards she’s won.
Chaka told the BBC: “I wouldn’t know if I had one or 10. What difference does it make in the scheme of things? Realistically?
“I’m not trying to be mean about it. If every time I won a Grammy, my ticket price went up a million dollars, then, yeah, it would have great meaning to me. Or more meaning to me, shall we say.”
Meanwhile, Chaka previously admitted that Prince’s death in 2016 served as a wake-up call to her to get help for her own addictions.
The ‘I Feel For You’ hitmaker – who has struggled with drug abuse and alcoholism – admitted that the passing of her showbiz pal led her to realise she had to make changes in her own life.
She confessed: “I’ve had problems to deal with. I had to get my home life and my life straight.”
Chaka also revealed her faith in God has played a significant role in her recovery.
She said: “When I was in rehab a few years ago, I got through it with my faith.
“I made up a prayer which I say before I go to bed and first thing when I wake up in the morning. My strong faith has helped me get through it.”

Ricky Gervais feels stung by criticism

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais feels stung by some of the criticism that comes his way.
The 57-year-old comedian is known for making controversial jokes during his stand-up routines, but Ricky has revealed he’s constantly wrestling with his own thoughts and ideas.
Asked whether he ever edits himself, Ricky shared: “Every day. I lie awake every night going: ‘Should I say that? Can I defend that? Is anyone going to take that personally? Is that cruel?’ Everything I do.”
The ‘Office’ star revealed that in spite of his brash exterior, he’s still conscious of the criticism he attracts.
Ricky also believes his critics underestimate the amount of preparation he puts into his comedy shows.
He told the Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine: “This is what gets to me: I do a routine to about 800,000 people live on tour, it goes on Netflix and is watched by 40 million people, then someone does a snobby blog and thinks they’ve put more thought into a joke than I did. No! I’ve been working on every one of those routines for a year.
“They’ve been road-tested to millions of people. This is tested on humans!”
Ricky also thinks a subtle cultural change has made the life of a comedian even tougher.
He explained: “It’s harder, because up until a couple of years ago I’d say the wrong thing for comic effect and everyone got it. Now they’re going: ‘No, there are people who actually think that!”
Ricky has more than 13 million followers on Twitter – but he’s seemingly tiring of the platform.
The stand-up star said: “There’s so much noise now. Anyone can be on Twitter, their tweet can sit alongside Richard Dawkins as though it has the same sort of credibility.”

Penelope Cruz: Motherhood has transformed my life

OHMYGOSSIP — Penelope Cruz’s life has been transformed by motherhood.
The Oscar-winning actress – who has kids Luna, five, and Leo, eight, with Javier Bardem – has admitted that being a parent has totally changed how she approaches her career.
She shared: “When you’re a mother, everything changes.
“Every time I read a project, the first thing that I look at is the dates and location. I try to work more in the summer, or sometimes they put all of my stuff together, like the movie I’m doing now with Olivier Assayas.
“My family is always together, so you have to find a way that works. My main priority is raising my kids, but this job, fortunately, makes it easier because I am not working the whole time.
“You’re shooting, but then you also have a lot of free time, and it’s a big blessing to have that.”
Penelope, 44, has ambitions of one day directing a narrative feature film.
But the brunette beauty – who has been married to Javier since 2010 – is determined to make her kids her number-one priority.

“It’s not the right time yet. My kids are little, and I don’t work now as much as before, but maybe in a few years, I will try to do that.”
Meanwhile, Penelope previously claimed society “tricks” women.
The actress hit out at what she perceives to be unrealistic expectations placed on women.
She explained: “There are so many taboos related to women.
“You realise when you go through the whole process [of becoming a parent] that society tricks women a lot – and men too.”

During her time in the wrestling business, Paige thinks fans have dramatically changed their approach towards female stars.
She told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “When I first came there, WWE really did love the women wrestlers.

The royal duo – who married in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May – are currently preparing for the arrival of their first child, and they are apparently considering sending their first-born to ACS Egham International School in Surrey, South-East England.
A source told E! News: “Meghan is also keen for her child to be fully aware of his or her American heritage.”
The private school used to be known as the American Community School, and offers an American curriculum to students aged 4 to 18.
The school is also located relatively close to Frogmore Cottage, which is the future home of the royal couple.

“It’s very daunting of how tiny they are when they first arrive. They are so fragile and everything’s so tiny, their little fingers and toes, you do feel like if you move them around too much they’re going to break almost – but they don’t!”

50 Cent considering legal action against police commander

OHMYGOSSIP — 50 Cent is considering launching legal action against a police commander who allegedly encouraged officers to shoot the rapper.
The 43-year-old star – whose real name is Curtis Jackson – is weighing up a lawsuit against deputy inspector Emmanuel Gonzalez, who allegedly made the threatening remarks when 50 was scheduled to attend an NYPD-sanctioned boxing match in June.
A spokesman for the ‘In Da Club’ hitmaker told People: “Mr. Jackson takes this threat very seriously and is consulting with his legal counsel regarding his options going forward.
“He is concerned that he was not previously advised of this threat by the NYPD and even more concerned that Gonzalez continues to carry a badge and a gun.”
Gonzalez allegedly said that officers should “shoot [50 Cent] on sight” if he appeared at the fight, according to the New York Daily News newspaper.
Gonzalez has dismissed his own comments as a joke, but the rapper has confirmed via Twitter that he’s currently consulting his legal team.
He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “This guy Emanuel Gonzales is a dirty cop abusing his POWER. The sad part is this man still has a badge and a gun.
“I take this threat very seriously and im consulting with my legal counsel regarding my options moving forward. (sic)”
Later, 50 later addressed a tweet about the comments to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
