OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo has confirmed herself for Glastonbury.
The ‘Juice’ hitmaker – who performed her hit song at the Warner Music & CÎROC Vodka House Party in association with GQ in front of her label mates after the BRITs at Chiltern Firehouse in London on Wednesday (20.02.19) – has revealed she is set to perform at the iconic festival in Somerset this June.
Speaking to NME about what she has coming up, she spilled: “I just have a s**t tonne of shows and festivals.
“I’m coming back to London and Manchester.
“I’m doing Lovebox Festival and Glastonbury but I don’t think that’s announced so, whatever – you just got the scoop, b***h.
“I’m going to be everywhere. The tour has sold out already so bring it on.”
The 30-year-old American rapper described her live show as going to church to twerk.
She quipped: “It’s church with a twerk, that’s what I say.”
Lizzo’s confirmation for Glastonbury comes after Janet Jackson signed up for the music extravaganza.
The ‘Rhythm Nation’ hitmaker – who will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month – is reportedly set to perform her first show on UK soil in eight years at the world renowned festival, which takes place at Worthy Farm between June 26 and June 30.
It would be the 53-year-old superstar’s first time playing the festival and it’s looking likely she will perform on the Sunday on the Pyramid Stage.
An said: “Janet is relaunching her career in a major way this year and thought this would be the perfect opportunity.
“She has never performed at Glastonbury but she knows what a massive deal it is.
“It is looking like she will perform on the Sunday but her exact slot is to be confirmed.
“Organisers are still booking acts and arranging the schedule but she is really excited to be back.”
Janet and Lizzo will be joining Sunday afternoon Legend’s slot performer Kylie Minogue and grime superstar Stormzy in playing Glastonbury this summer.
Janelle Monae is also set to perform on the West Holts stage.

OHMYGOSSIP — Wu-Tang Clan have been announced as the Friday night headliner at Boardmasters.
The legendary hip-hop collective – which features the likes of RZA, GZA and Method Man – will mark the 25th anniversary of their seminal debut album ‘Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)’ with a special performance on the main stage at the seaside extravaganza, which is held between August 7 and August 11 at Watergate Bay, Newquay, Cornwall.
The ‘Gravel Pit’ hitmakers – who have four gold and platinum studio albums to their name – have collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, Nas and Busta Rhymes over the years, so it’s likely they may be joined by some special guests.
‘Let’s Dance To Joy Division’ hitmakers The Wombats have also been confirmed as the Land Of Saints stage headliner.
Florence + The Machine and Foals were previously announced as the Saturday and Sunday night headliners respectively.
The likes of Plan B, Jax Jones + Martin Solveig, Bugzy Malone, Mabel, Slaves, Sam Fender, Razorlight, Dermot Kennedy and Grace Carter were also among 60 more acts added to the line-up earlier this month.
Watergate Bay will also see Dizzee Rascal, Jorja Smith – who won the British Female Solo Artist Award at the BRITs on Wednesday night (20.02.19) – Franz Ferdinand, plus special guest Giggs perform over the weekend.
2018 saw George Ezra, The Chemical Brothers and Catfish & The Bottlemen headline the surfing festival.

OHMYGOSSIP — Val Kilmer thinks Tom Cruise should take a break from action movies.
The 59-year-old actor has had a great time working with the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star on the upcoming ‘Top Gun’ sequel, ‘Maverick’, but thinks his friend needs to “re-establish himself” in the world of comedy because they never stopped laughing on set.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “It will be a great film, I promise.
“This time around had me laughing with Tom like a high schooler. He’s so funny. I hope he’s saved the world enough to take a decade and re-establish himself as a great comedian as he has it in him.
“And [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer is exactly the same as 30 years ago when I met him. So humble and attentive and focused and excited just to be on a set.”
As well as ‘Maverick’, Val is also focused on his passion project ‘Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy’ – a screenplay he has written about the legendary author and the female founder of Christian Science – and now he has a dream co-star in mind, he is hoping to start filming next year.
The actor – whose love of the writer also inspired his one-man production ‘Citizen Twain’ – said: “Both characters were geniuses and both have such distinct and valuable voices; I now know who I want to play Mrs. Eddy.
“Twain and Eddy are so crucial, in my opinion, to the nation and the world’s progress, that this validation of their value doesn’t have as much to do with me as it does an example of that ‘mirror up to nature’ [that] Shakespeare reminds us is the healing power in acting. Acting saves lives.”
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is set 34 years after the original hit the big screen and will focus on modern drone warfare and explore the end of the dogfighting era.
Tom and Val are back as their characters from the original, Maverick and Iceman, while Miles Teller is to play the son of Goose – Maverick’s wingman who was played by Anthony Edwards in the original movie.

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan’s film adaptation of ‘The Silver Bear’ will be directed by Gerard McMurray.
The 32-year-old actor is set to star in and produce Lionsgate’s movie based on the books of the same name by Derek Haas, taking on the role of dangerous assassin Columbus.
McMurray – who is known for helming 2018 thriller ‘The First Purge’ – was a producer on Jordan’s breakout movie ‘Fruitvale Station’ in 2013.
Frank Baldwin is penning the script and the ‘Creed’ star is producing through his own Outlier Society, whilst Haas is among a team of executive producers under Nickel City Pictures.
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s chairman, Joe Drake, commented: “‘The Silver Bear’ is the kind of story that needs to be experienced on the big screen and Michael is the perfect movie star to inhabit the skin of this dynamic character and take us into the cinematic world of Columbus.
“We’re incredibly honoured that Michael and Nickel City chose Lionsgate to partner with in bringing this exciting property to life.”
The suspense novel follows the tale of hit man Columbus who is tasked with killing presidential candidate Abe Man.
The tome is part one of three, which means there is the potential for the movie to become a franchise.
Meanwhile, Jordan signed up to play the Tom Clancy character John Clark in a forthcoming film series.
He was approached by Paramount to play the hero in two upcoming movies, with an origin story planned for an adaptation of ‘Without Remorse’ and a sequel centred on ‘Rainbow Six’.
He is set to produce the project alongside Akiva Goldsman, Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.
The studio spent years trying to get movie adaptations off the ground, with Ryan Reynolds and Chris McQuarrie having previously been linked to the project.
He’s also signed up to produce the WWII movie ‘The Liberators’.
Michael’s schedule continues to grow after the Hollywood star admitted he wanted to spend more time behind the camera in the coming years.
He said previously: “For me, producing and creating opportunities and telling stories is something that I’ve always been fascinated with.
“To be able to have my own production company, be able to start telling more stories and get more on that side of things, it’s important to me. So I’m not going to put a timeframe on it or whatever, but in the future for sure I’ll spend more time producing and hopefully directing and telling stories.
“Then I’ll pick my projects that I’m really passionate about, that I really want to do as far as getting in front of the camera and I’ll do those as well. It’s about trying to find a balance.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Calvin Harris spent almost £80,000 on dancing animals for his BRIT Awards performance.
The 35-year-old DJ – who scooped both British Single for his Dua Lipa collaboration ‘One Kiss’ and Best Producer at the ceremony on Tuesday (20.02.19) – insisted on having a crab and dragon made for his segment to echo those featured in the video for his award-winning single, The Sun newspaper reports.
And that’s not all, as Calvin spared no expense on other elements of his performance – a medley for which he was joined by Dua, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Sam Smith and Winnie Harlow – including snow, a forest, a mountain, raining rose petals, pyrotechnics, a giant glitter ball and 100 backing dancers.
The ‘Acceptable in the 80s’ hitmaker’s wins at the O2 in London on Tuesday were his first trophies following 14 previous unsuccessful nominations.
Dua’s performance with Calvin at the BRITs came just 10 days after she took to the stage at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles to sing with St. Vincent and she admitted it was “surreal” to fit in two such high-profile events in a short space of time.
She said: “It’s surreal. Crazy. And honestly I feel like I’ve been in rehearsals for the past month just getting ready for it all, but it feels so good to be home.”
And despite having been at many award shows, she still isn’t used to the experience.
When asked if she’s a pro at award ceremonies now, Dua said: “No. Always really weird, always really nervous. Everything’s so exciting, but I get really nervous when I’m performing because I just … I dunno, I just wanna put on a really good show so I feel a lot a pressure with that. But I’ve turned all my nervous butterflies into really excited ones, so that’s where I’m at.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Imran Adams says his ‘Hollyoaks’ character has promised has huge “secret” for the Deveraux family.
The soap newcomer – who recently joined the Channel 4 show as stripper Mitchell Deveraux – has vowed that there are some twists in line for the character and his on-screen family after his racy introduction.
Speaking to Inside Soap, he teased: “There’s a secret that will be revealed in due course – the audience will be shocked!
“he family dynamic will start to make more sense, in terms of why the Deverauxs have come to the village, and how they link up to the Lovedays… There are a lot of surprises to come!”
Meanwhile, it seems even Imran was shocked to find out his alter ego would be taking his clothes off for his first appearance on the Channel 4 soap.
He recently joked: “My agent never told me about any stripper scenes. The stripper scene was my first scene I shot for ‘Hollyoaks’.
“I didn’t know the full details until the morning of the shoot, so I get on the ‘Hollyoaks’ set, which was my first time ever, with the director Miguel.
“He’s smiling and telling me what’s expected and what his vision is, and all along I’m just waiting for him to tell me that he’s joking, and that there’s no way I’m going to be stripping on national television.
“But after the third take of me grinding on Nana McQueen with a bunch of extras in nothing but tiny shiny gold pants, there was something in my head that was telling me, ‘Welcome to ‘Hollyoaks!” ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Ryder will play Charlotte Hill’s dead husband Grant in ‘Doctors’ as she looks to clear her name.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor will be back in the world of soaps with his new role in a series of flashbacks as Charlotte – played by Debra Stephenson – tries to prove she wasn’t to blame for his death, and the actress thinks viewers will go “backwards and forwards”.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Debra said: “[Charlotte] was imprisoned for the murder of her husband Grant, but her conviction has been quashed because of a forensics mix-up.
“So she’s lonely and vulnerable and desperately trying to clear her name.
“Over the next few weeks, viewers will probably be going backwards and forwards with what they make of her. Is she capable of having murdered her husband, or is she a completely innocent woman who’s been hard done by?”
It’s said that Valerie Pitman (Sarah Moyle) will also be a suspect for his death, as viewers will find out she used to have a crush on Grant when they worked together.
Debra added: “Charlotte’s absolutely furious. She believes that Valerie killed Grant.
“Filming the flashbacks was great fun as we see that Charlotte was a real high-flyer before prison – she’s had a lot of money and success, and she power-dressed! And now she’s lost everything – her money, her power, her friends…”
Meanwhile, Jack – who played Jamie Mitchell in ‘EastEnders’ – will also be appearing on BBC’s ‘Holby City’ this year after it was confirmed he had signed on for the hospital soap.
‘Doctors’ airs on BBC every weekday at 1.45pm.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa wants to get a rapper on her next album.
The 23-year-old pop star – who won Best British Single for ‘One Kiss’ with Calvin Harris at the BRITs – has revealed she would love to follow the trend of duetting with a hip-hop star on a song for her hotly-anticipated follow-up to her hugely successful 2017 self-titled debut.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper at the glitzy bash at The O2 in London on Wednesday night (20.02.19), she spilled: “I haven’t yet decided on features but maybe there is room for a hip-hop artist to feature.”
The ‘IDGAF’ hitmaker wowed with her high-energy performance of ‘One Kiss’ with the Scottish DJ at the ceremony, which ended with her raising her leg into a challenging yoga pose, and Dua admitted that she has become more confident with her dance skills since she first emerged in 2015.
She said: “I loved shooting the music video for ‘Electricity’.
“I feel like during the whole process of my career I’ve slowly gained a bit more confidence.
“I’ve slowly felt a bit more like myself.
“I’ve slowly been OK with the way that I done.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne has said that 2020 is too soon for a One Direction reunion.
The ‘Familiar’ hitmaker had previously teased fans that the group – also comprised of Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – may get back together within the next two years, but he has now admitted it may be a longer wait as they are all busy with their respective solo careers.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper at the BRITs in London on Wednesday night (21.02.19), he said: “Last time I said a date it was 2020 and we’re still not there yet so I’m just going to go with that and we will have to wait.
“Everyone’s enjoying doing their own thing.”
The 25-year-old hunk – who released his debut EP ‘First Time’ last year – is busy preparing his long-awaited debut album and is also set to tour this year.
Speaking last June, he said: “It’s amazing that we’re doing our own thing and then, hopefully one day soon, we get back together and have another great time of it, who knows?”
Since announcing their hiatus in 2015, all members have launched solo careers, and the heartthrob previously admitted they’ve only been able to show who they really are as individuals since doing their own thing.
He spilled: “When you’re in the band, there are certain jobs you have to do and hoops you have to jump through, so that was always a little bit of a strain on all of us.”
Liam previously said that if the band decide to reunite in the future, it would be likely they’d all perform one another’s solo songs.
He said: “For me the only way One Direction could better themselves from going to playing stadiums – like where else do you play? – is to manage to be, you know, like ‘The Avengers’, like we’re successful on our own.
“Like if Iron Man wants to go and deal with someone, he just deals with them.
“He doesn’t call up Hulk and be like ‘oh, whatever’ unless he really needs him.
“So my thing is, why aren’t we like that?
“Like, we should go and boss it on our own and then when we do the show it can be like ‘yeah, yeah, just sit down there boys, I’ll sing a bit of ‘Slow Hands”, you know what I mean? Imagine that?”
The chances of former member Zayn Malik rejoining the group were dashed by the star who revealed he has completely cut ties with his old bandmates.
He said in December: “I ain’t spoke to any of them for a long time.
“There are things that happen and things that were said after I left – snide things, small things that I would never have expected. The relationships had broken apart.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lesley Joseph is relieved ‘Birds of a Feather’ is coming to an end.
The 73-year-old actress – who has been in the role of Dorien Green since the show’s launch three decades ago – admitted she’s glad the show is being axed by ITV because she didn’t wake to play the character “in a Zimmer frame”.
Opening up on the channel’s decision and referencing how tough it is to fit into her alter ego’s skimpy outfits, she – who was amongst the stars stepping out for the press premiere of the ‘Only Fools and Horses’ musical in London on Tuesday (19.02.19) – is quoted by the Mirror as saying: “I don’t think ‘Birds’ is coming back.
“It’s come to an actual end. It is a shame but it’s very hard work getting into shape for Dorien.”
The sitcom – which also stars Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson – first aired on the BBC from 1989 to 1998, before a three year revival until 2017, when it made the move to ITV.
However, it was revealed earlier this month that the broadcaster was moving away from airing comedy with plans to cancel both ‘Birds of a Feather’ and ‘Benidorm’.
Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Director of Television, said: “We had success with ‘Birds of a Feather’, that was our most successful sitcom in years, but it’s come to a sort of natural end.”
With ‘Bad Move’ – starring Jack Dee and Seann Walsh – also getting axed, Lygo suggested the future of scripted comedy is bleak.
He added: “We had two series of the Jack Dee sitcom but I don’t think we’re continuing with it now. It’s just very, very hard.
“Audiences can get their fix of character-based comedy from ‘Coronation Street.’ ”
The decision has been met with some criticism, including from ‘Benidorm’ actor John Challis – who said the public needed an escape.
He explained: “I don’t understand this attitude towards comedy. What other comedy has ITV got at the moment that is so popular?
“It’s what people want. they just want to relax, especially in these difficult times – they just want to relax and let it wash over them and have a good laugh.
“I don’t know who these people are making these decisions – but where I am – I do a one-man show all over and I go to conventions – all I hear is people who want comedy. They want something they can switch on and think, ‘Oh this’ll be fun.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Bonneville has taken the blame for Isis the dog being killed off on ‘Downtown Abbey’.
The 55-year-old actor – who played Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham in the ITV period drama – admitted he was behind the decision to cut the loveable Labrador from the show’s sixth and final season because it fit the timeline.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TV Bizarre column: “We always try to fudge time in ‘Downtown’ because if you analyse it too closely you’d go nuts.
“That is one of the reasons we got rid of the dog — someone had done some nerdy chart working out how old all the characters would be if we started in 1912.
“They’d worked out by the time we got to series six the dog should be dead. So I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to kill the dog?’ because, let’s face it, most British men at this time are more attached to their dog than their children. It would get the dog lovers at home weeping.”
When the fifth season aired in 2014 and revealed the dog’s death, it was thought the pooch got the boot because Isis had the same name as the Islamist terror organisation, when she was actually named after the caring Egyptian goddess in mythology.
Hugh was baffled that people would think the writers would name the pet after the extreme group, and he has previously dismissed all speculation.
He said: “Anyone who genuinely believes the Series 5 storyline [set in 1924] involving the animal was a reaction to recent world news is a complete berk.
“I find it rather odd. I think odd is a polite way of saying it – I do think people are bonkers that think that we’d develop a storyline based on such utterly appalling world events.”
Isis – whose real name is Ellie – first debuted on screens in series 3.

OHMYGOSSIP — New ‘Top Gear’ presenter Paddy McGuinness has been mocked for wearing too much fake tan and make-up.
The ‘Take Me Out’ star – who will co-host the upcoming series of the motoring show with Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff and Chris Harris – admitted he has a strict beauty regime to make sure that he looks immaculate on-screen.
Paddy is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying : “I do have fake tan on my hands. I also have a bit of man make-up on.
“The lads rib me – but I’ve seen Chris using a bit of man make-up too. They love it really.”
The upcoming series of the motoring show – which will air on BBC Two on Sunday (24.02.19) at 8pm – will be the last to feature the trio of Chris, Matt Le Blanc and Rory Reid together.
For the following season, Paddy, 45, and Freddie, 41, will step in after the exit of former ‘Friends’ actor, who has decided to leave the show so that he can spend more time with his 15-year-old daughter Marina in the US.
Meanwhile, Rory will be fronting the online edition of the show ‘Extra Gear’.
Paddy – who is best known for presenting game shows such ‘Take Me Out’ and ‘Benchmark’ – admitted that he actually failed his driving test first time around despite being set to host the motoring show.
He previously said: “I failed my driving test the first time, the instructor was a wrong ‘un, pencil tache, 60 years old. Fail.
“Second time, it was blazing hot and I was wearing Kevin Keegan short shorts, I had a female examiner and I passed.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Dastmalchian has joined the cast of the ‘Dune’ reboot.
The 34-year-old actor is the latest star to become part of the ever-growing cast of the sci-fi movie reboot, which is being adapted from Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name by director Denis Villeneuve.
‘Dune’ – which is considered a sci-fi literary classic – tells the complex story of a fallen noble family’s attempt to control a desert planet named Arrakis and its export, a rare drug called melange – also known as “the spice” – which is vital to space travel and the most sought after commodity in the universe.
‘Bird Box’ star Dastmalchian will take on the role of Piter De Vries – played by Brad Dourif in David Lynch’s 1984 film – a Mentat human who serves the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard) and is addicted to the spice.
De Vries is a human who is specially trained to perform mental functions rivalling the computers that are forbidden in this universe.
The all-star cast of the production also includes Timothee Chalamet as the lead character Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem, whilst Jason Momoa has also been attached to the project.
Zendaya and Oscar Isaac are also in talks for roles.
The project is being created by Legendary Entertainment, and Villeneuve will produce alongside Mary Parent and Cale Boyter.
Villeneuve also wrote the script for the flick with the help of Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts.
Legendary acquired the film and TV rights in 2016 after signing a deal with Herbert’s estate for his iconic tome.
Villeneuve previously admitted ‘Dune’ has always been his “dream project” as he was obsessed with the original film growing up.
Filming is due to commence in Budapest and Jordan in spring and the film is set to be released next year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Craig is set to star in Todd Field’s ‘The Creed of Violence’.
The 50-year-old actor is to portray Rawbone in the adaptation of Boston Teran’s novel once he’s wrapped up production on Cary Fukunaga’s ‘Bond 25’, according to Collider.
The movie follows the criminal Rawbone who buys a truckload of arms to smuggle across the border from America into Mexico where revolution is brewing.
After being discovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) he is forced into carrying out his plan as an undercover agent, reporting to Agent John Lourdes with whom he has a secret history.
Production starts in 2020 and Brian Oliver will produce for his New Republic Pictures banner along with Johnny Lin of Filmula.
Field, 54, was first attached to adapt Teran’s novel in 2011, and shortly afterward agreed to helm the drama.
Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale have previously been considered for the role of Rawbone and although funds for the flick came through in 2013, the feature was never made.
Although the upcoming 007 movie was originally due to be released on February 14, 2020, it has now been postponed until April 8, 2020, MGM previously announced.
Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes and Lea Seydoux are all set to return for ‘Bond 25’.
Lea, 33, portrayed Bond Girl Dr. Madeleine Swann in 2015 movie ‘Spectre’, and she is to reprise her role after support from Craig and Fukanaga.
Fukunaga said: “Lea will be returning.”

The 39-year-old presenter famously dated Harry Styles when he was 17 and she was 31, has also been romantically linked with dancer AJ Pritchard, 24, and personal trainer Bradley Simmonds, 24, and was briefly engaged to 26-year-old ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star Andrew Brady.
And the ‘Love Island’ host is defiant about the criticism she’s faced over her life because she just “doesn’t care”.
Caroline shared a photo of her upcoming You magazine cover, which featured the quote: “If ‘cougar’ is supposed to be an insult, I’m making it a badge of honour.”
She captioned the Instagram post: “I normally keep my mouth shut when it comes to my life and being in the public eye … but for the first time I really wanted to write something personal about some of the ‘flack’ I’ve had over the years and how I quite frankly don’t care.”
The former ‘X Factor’ host previously insisted she hadn’t “done anything wrong” when she dated Harry.
She said: “I keep thinking, what have I done wrong? But I haven’t done anything wrong. What’s hard for me to get my head around is people saying it’s ­disgusting. I don’t think it is.
“I feel like I shouldn’t have to worry about what I do. But it’s a social thing that people aren’t accepting of big age gaps. I know it’s human nature to gossip. But why say it’s bad? No one’s being hurt.”
And last year, she dismissed concerns over the 11-year age gap between herself and then-fiance Andrew.
She said: “What can I say? You can’t help who you make a connection with. My mum says we seem like best mates – and that’s all I want.
“People spend too long overanalysing and overthinking things. Over the past few years I’ve seen so many loved ones go through very sad and tough times and I’ve come to realise that we can’t take anything for granted.
“I’ve never lived life traditionally or by the rules and I’m not about to change.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Davood Ghadami has praised the impact Nitin Ganatra had on his early ‘EastEnders’ days.
The soap star – who first appeared as Kush Kazemi in 2014 – has revealed how the Albert Square veteran helped him settle into life on set, and made it “a joy” to go to work.
Wishing Nitin a “Happy Birthday” just days after his final scenes aired, Davood tweeted: “When I started at @bbceastenders someone who I loved to watch on screen took me under his wing and helped make every working day a joy.
“Happy Birthday @GanatraNitin and thank you”
The message on Thursday (21.02.19) came just two days after Nitin appeared in his last episode as Masood Ahmed – a part he has played on the BBC soap since 2007 – after recently confirming his plans to move to another stage of his career.
And it seems his former cast mates are already finding it tough without him, after co-star Tamzin Outhwaite sent a simple message of support after his last episode.
She wrote: “Missing you already @GanatraNitin”
Nitin initially left the show in 2016, before making rare appearances the following year and eventually making a full comeback in 2018.
Speaking about his decision to leave a second time, he previously said: “When I was asked to return to EastEnders it was always with the intention of helping set up new Asian characters that continue the Masood family adventures.
“With Arshad and Mariam at the helm and with the arrival of the feisty sister Iqra and Habiba I can now venture off to new horizons as an actor.
“I am still deeply attached to Masood and have invested much emotion into making this character memorable.
“I am in awe of how loved he is by audiences and fans of all ages, from all cultures and religions and walks with of life. Thank you. I am humbled by the love.”
