Wes Nelson’s difficult love split

OHMYGOSSIP — Wes Nelson found his split from Megan Barton Hanson “really, really difficult”.
The ‘Love Island’ stars ended their six-month romance earlier this year and the 20-year-old hunk broke down in tears as he discussed his desire to find a love as strong as that which his parents have.
Wes cried as he explained why he and Vanessa Bauer had chosen to perform to ‘Never Too Much’ by Luther Vandross on the upcoming ‘Dancing On Ice’ semi-final, which takes place on Sunday (03.03.19) evening.
He said: “It’s my parents’ wedding song. My mum and dad genuinely mean the absolute world to me. I can’t even thank them enough for how much they’ve done for me. It’s a big thank you to them really. I think my mum and dad completely personify the word ‘love.’
“Of course I’ve experienced love but I’d love to love like my parents do. Me and Megs we had a really, really good bond and it makes me upset now to talk about it but it isn’t great, and it was really, really difficult at the time.”
Wes previously admitted he thinks Megan wished he’d never signed up for ‘Dancing On Ice’ because she wanted them to lead a “simpler life” away from the spotlight.
He said: “I think she wishes I didn’t do ‘Dancing on Ice’ just purely because we wanted a simpler sort of life but it’s very difficult when you’ve come out of a show like ‘Love Island’.
“You’ve gotta strike while the iron’s hot. There’s a sense of, I’m very career driven so after leaving the show I thought strike while the iron is hot. I’ve got all these opportunities ahead of me it would be silly for me not to utilise them.”
The blonde beauty had previously slammed Wes’ professional partner, Vanessa, for her “tactical” break-up from Louis Nathaniel shortly before the live shows started, and claimed the skater hadn’t been welcoming towards her.
However, Wes has insisted that Vanessa had nothing to do with their break up and claimed the pair called time on their romance because of his hectic schedule.
He explained: “It’s made out to be Vanessa this Vanessa that and it’s not that. It’s more so the fact that it’s all so time-consuming and you’re away from home all the time and it makes it very difficult to plan things ahead.
“In a normal relationship, you can [plan] ahead you can say ‘oh we’ll go to this place here we’ll have a date night this week’ with my schedule and training it changes day by day week by week.”

Gemma Collins advised to leave home over stalker threat

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins has been advised by police to leave her home indefinitely.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star spoke to police on Friday (01.03.19) to discuss her concerns about an alleged stalker, who she revealed on Instagram had abused her in the street and spotted walking outside her Essex home.
Pictures obtained by The Sun on Sunday newspaper showed Gemma being escorted from her abode by two police officers and a security team and insiders revealed she is “incredibly shaken” by the man.
A source said: “Poor Gemma is traumatised by this entire episode.
“She is really upset and anxious, and has been scared to even leave her house.
“Gemma is always incredibly friendly and open to all her fans so to have someone abuse her in this way, and threaten her so horrifically, has left her incredibly shaken.
“Police are taking this matter very seriously, and given her some practical advice in how to handle herself going forwards. It is an ongoing investigation.”
The ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant – who recently split from boyfriend James ‘Arg’ Argent – had told her Instagram followers she was “scared for [her] life” after spotting the man outside her home.
She wrote on Instagram alongside a video of the unnamed man: “Do you all remember that shocking video of two boys horrifically ABUSING ME well I am now petrified for my LIFE he has now found my home I AM SCARED FOR MY LIFE I am so grateful for how amazing the police have been I am actually scared for my life ….. has been here since SATURDAY why would you abuse someone then find out where they live and make them petrified I can’t leave my home through FEAR ….. I don’t feel safe and I feel very THREATENED and UNSAFE (sic)”
The videos showed the man sitting in a car and then walking around her building, with police then shown speaking to him, but the 38-year-old star claimed he told them he was a paparazzi photographer.
She added: “He told the police he was waiting for an appointment and three hours later said he was waiting for Gemma because he is a PAP.”

Chloe Grace Moretz started acting because of Breakfast at Tiffany’s

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Grace Moretz wanted to start acting after watching ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’.
The 22-year-old actress revealed that although she had always enjoyed “jumping into character” after seeing the classic 1961 drama starring Audrey Hepburn she began to “laugh and cry simultaneously” which inspired her to evoke those emotions into other people.
In an interview with Collider, she said: “I think what really hit me is when I always loved evoking emotion into myself and jumping into these characters I think and wearing their skin for a little bit.
“But I think what really hit me is when I think I was seven years old or eight years old, maybe even nine years old, and I watch ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ and I remember laughing and then simultaneously starting to cry. And I remember that emotion I felt and the change in emotion I felt and how it taught me something about myself that I could laugh and then cry in that way. And I remember that I wanted to evoke that emotion in other people and I wanted to be able to be a catalyst for people to find a deeper part of themselves to open up.”
The ‘Kick-Ass’ star also spoke of her upcoming film ‘Greta’ – in which she stars alongside Isabelle Huppert and Maika Monroe – and insisted that the thriller is a “subverts the genre in a way that makes it more exciting”.
She added: “For me when I first read the project and saw that it was three women at the helm it reminded me of ‘Get Out’ in the sense that it’s a birth of genre.
“It’s a story that’s attainable that we understand but being that it’s a separate lens and it’s a different cast it subverts the genre in a way that makes it more exciting more innovative and something that feels more modern.”

Steven Spielberg faces backlash

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Spielberg faces a backlash over his proposal to block Netflix films from Academy Awards shortlists.
The ‘Ready Player One’ filmmaker – who is a governor of the Academy’s directors branch – is planning to propose changes to eligibility rules, arguing that movies which debut on streaming services or just have a short theatrical run should qualify for the Emmys instead of the Oscars and hoped to garner support for the move.
A spokesperson for his company Amblin told IndieWire: “Steven feels strongly about the difference between the streaming and theatrical situation.
“He’ll be happy if the others will join [his campaign] when that comes up [at the Academy Board of Governors meeting]. He will see what happens.”
However, the three-time Oscar winner may not get the backing he hoped for as the plan has already been criticised.
Ava DuVernay, who received a 2017 Oscar nomination for directing Netflix prison reform documentary ’13th’ tweeted: “Dear Academy, this is a Board of Governors meeting. And regular branch members can’t be there. But I hope if this is true, that you’ll have filmmakers in the room or read statements from directors like me who feel differently.”
‘Insecure’ actor Jean Elie hit out at the 72-year-old director.
He asked on Twitter: “Why would you want to stop others from shining/sharing the light?”
And ‘Army of Darkness’ actor Bruce Campbell not only criticised the plan, citing the success of “impressive” Netflix movie ‘Roma’ – which scooped Best Foreign Language Film, Best Cinematography and Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron – as proof platforms are now “irrelevant”, he urged Spielberg to work with the streaming service too.
He posted: “Steven Spielberg is gunning to make sure Netflix never has another Oscars contender like Roma. Sorry, Mr. Spielberg, Roma ain’t no TV movie – it’s as impressive as anything out there. Platforms have become irrelevant. Make a movie with Netflix.(sic)”

Jonas Brothers play secret show

OHMYGOSSIP — The Jonas Brothers performed a secret concert in New York City on Friday (01.03.19).
The newly-reunited trio released their comeback single ‘Sucker’ – their first since going on hiatus in 2013 – earlier that day, and celebrated with a show at The Box Theatre, where they delighted the audience with a rendition of the new track, as well as some of their old hits including ‘Burnin’ Up’, ‘Year 3000’, ‘SOS’ and ‘That’s Just the Way We Roll’.
The group shared a number of photos from the night on their official Instagram account, with one image captioned: “If you know, then you know @theboxnyc (sic)”
Following the release of ‘Sucker’, the brothers revealed they have dozens of other songs which they “can’t wait” for fans to hear.
Joe Jonas – who formed DNCE after the band split – said: “When we started to figure out what the sound was going to be like – balancing Nick’s sound, DNCE’s sound and, to be truthful, Kevin bringing so much heart into this.
“It’s been incredible – his stories, his family and everything that he has going on now, it was really important to be able to blend the three and so, we have probably 30, 40 songs recorded that we can’t wait to release.”
Meanwhile, Nick Jonas, 26, admitted he initially thought it would be “impossible” for the trio to reunite because relations between himself, Joe, 29, and 31-year-old Kevin were so bad after they went their separate ways.
He said : “When it ended it was not good. It was a couple years of rebuilding our family, and in our mind it seemed impossible for us to do this ever again.”
Joe added: “We had to work through and understand what we were going through when we were that young. It was interesting because for so many years we just put it under the rug. We said, ‘We’re done, let’s just try to rebuild our friendship and our relationship as brothers’ – it just happened in its own time.”

Will Young: I was persecuted as a gay man

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Young claims he was “persecuted” in the early days of his career.
The ‘Leave Right Now’ hitmaker – who came out as gay shortly after winning ‘Pop Idol’ in 2002 – is happy times have changed since he first shot to fame as he no longer feels afraid to “rock the boat” because he is confident in himself and knows his relationships and choices have “legal backing” that wasn’t there before.
He said: “Things have changed a lot since I won ‘Pop Idol’ and I didn’t even realise in the past how persecuted I was as a gay man.
“At times I felt scared and I didn’t want to rock the boat for my career.
“But now, that feels archaic. We’re in a different age and I’m more confident in myself and I also have legal backing that I didn’t have before.
“Civil partnerships, gay marriage, gay adoption, being able to feel secure in your relationships – all these things have made me, as a gay man, feel more secure.”
The 40-year-old pop star believes inclusivity should be taught and differences celebrated from a very young age.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, he said: “Inclusivity must start at the youngest age possible – why would it not? It’s really important because every child is different. We’re all unique.
“It’s not just about the people you want to love or are attracted to when you grow up but what you want to eat, what you look like, where you live, what your parents are like – difference should be celebrated from the youngest age.
“No matter what makes them different, children are equal and they should never be made to feel abnormal.”
And Will thinks there’s a lot older generations can learn from young people.
He said: “The problem, I think, is that adults, because they’ve had more years of social conditioning and prejudice and shame put on them, get scared about talking about these issues.
“But kids aren’t born with prejudice and they haven’t been conditioned and it’s very normal to them.”

Ellen Page felt ‘lucky’ to have a therapist

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellen Page was “lucky” she could “reach out to a therapist” when she felt “repressed” as a lesbian woman.
The 32-year-old actress – who is married to Emma Portner – stars as Vanya in the new Netflix series ‘The Umbrella Academy’, and Ellen has revealed that she picked the role because she resonated a lot with her character, who undertakes a journey as an “outsider”.
Speaking to Gay Times magazine, Ellen said: “A lot of superhero narratives particularly in this show, are so much about feeling like an outsider then going on a journey where you have to discover your own power. I think a lot of people in the LGBTQ community can relate to that.
“Vanya’s experience is similar to that. Her experience aligns with any repressed element of yourself that you’re trying to deal with. Of course, she doesn’t necessarily get the support that one reaches out for in that situation.
“For me, when I was going through that in my life, I was lucky that I had the ability to reach out to a therapist. I had people who I could actively work through that pain with.”
The ‘Inception’ actress stars alongside Rob Sheehan in the series – who plays the openly gay character, Klaus, despite being a heterosexual male – and although she thinks he’s “superb”, Ellen insisted that she thinks it is “great” when “queer people can play queer roles”.
She added: “But as a gay woman in this industry I’m like ‘F**k yeah, hire queer people!’ My experience has not been that the film business is progressive by any means, and that has been really challenging and painful. It was quite damaging, actually.
“But yes, I think it’s always great when queer people can play queer roles, but I think that Rob is superb in the show and I don’t want to be misconstrued.”

Rose McGowan has lost ‘years’ off her life

OHMYGOSSIP — Rose McGowan thinks her role in the Harvey Weinstein scandal has “knocked years” off her life.
The 45-year-old actress was one of the first people to speak out against the disgraced movie mogul, accusing him of raping her in a hotel room in 1997, and though she is honoured that her revelation prompted other people to confide in her about the abuse they have experienced in her own lives, she admitted it has been draining.
She said: “[This time last year] I was not in a good place. Writing the book (‘Brave’) meant reliving things, and I felt like there were ghosts all around me.
“Everyone asked me about the hotel room incident [in interviews]. Each question was re-traumatising.”
Discussing people confiding in her, she added to Stella magazine: “It’s a lot, to be a receptacle for pain. But I honour their stories because it is often the first time they’re telling anybody this.
“I think it’s definitely knocked years off my life. My brain and my strength were severely sapped; I felt like a boxer on the ropes every day. And it went on and on for months.”
To escape the pressure, Rose went to stay with friends in Sicily and found her period of “life rehab” very beneficial.
She said: “I called it life rehab. I was with some great people that were warm and wonderful and who helped patch me back together.
“I’m more gentle with myself now. I haven’t been tweeting much, and I think that’s good for my brain and my sanity.”
The ‘Charmed’ star has also stopped taking medication for depression and admitted traditional therapy “doesn’t work” for her.
She said: “It just doesn’t work for me. I usually go three times – on the third time I get deep, and then I never return.
“My therapy is reading, escaping into other worlds, and other rooms and other lives. I think that’s always been my form of therapy.”
Rose also credits her partner 29-year-old non-binary model Rain Dove, for helping her stay “anchored”.
She said: “Rain is a really grounding force, and it’s anchored me. I think I was just really tired of toxic, macho male energy.
“It’s really nice to be with someone who’s not like that.”
But the couple have no plans to marry.
Rose said: “I don’t like the government having a say in my life. If I want to break up with somebody, I don’t need your permission.”
And while the ‘Scream’ star opted not to have biological children, she hasn’t ruled out adoption in future.
She said: “I wouldn’t have put a kid through everything I have been through; I had to make a conscious decision to go it alone. But I might adopt at some point.”

Man-child Idris Elba

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba is a “man-child”.
The 46-year-old actor – who has children Isan, 17, and Winston, four, from previous relationships and is engaged to Sabrina Dhowre – can relate to playing faded DJ Charlie in upcoming Netflix series ‘Turn Up Charlie’ because he still wants to live out parts of his own youth, despite his adult responsibilities.
He said: “What’s interesting about it is that my character isn’t paternal. He’s a man-child. Which I feel I am a bit – I can relate to that.
“I’m a dad, a parent and I love my kids. But there are parts of my youth that I feel like I haven’t quite lived out – and I will.
“The whole ’30s is the new 20s’ thing – that’s all true. Young people seem to be younger for longer. And people in their 40s still seem to be doing things they were doing in their 30s. I think that’s OK.”
The ‘Luther’ actor admitted he worries about his daughter’s use of social media and thinks she, along with many other teenagers, is “addicted” to using her phone but doesn’t think he has the power to change things.
He said: “It’s hard. I think my daughter knows that it’s dangerous. But she’s addicted, like most teenagers are. But there’s not much I can do as a parent – she’s a 17-year-old, I can’t take her phone off her.”
Idris left the UK to find work as an actor but returned home when his father Winston was stricken by lung cancer, and after his dad’s passing aged 72 in September 2013, he found a new “lease of life”.
He said: “I came home because my father became sick. I found that I wanted to live and do more because I went through the trauma of watching someone I love die…
“I came home and – boom! – I had this new lease of life with work. The opportunities were here. I set up my office in Soho within two weeks. Then sold two TV shows within five weeks. I’ve got nine staff running around doing music, film and clothing.”

Emma Bunton set to wed

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Bunton is getting married.
The Spice Girls singer and her partner Jade Jones – who are parents to sons Beau, 11, and seven-year-old Tate – are set to tie the knot at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall after 20 years together.
According to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, the 43-year-old star was seen heading into Enfield Register Office in north London, where she and the 40-year-old chef gave notice of intent to marry, meaning they now have 12 months to make things formal.
The couple got engaged in January 2011 and in 2017, the ‘Stop’ hitmaker admitted it would be “nice” to get married but she and Jade had never been organised enough to plan their big day.
She said: “It would be nice, wouldn’t it? I should get round to it. He already calls me his wife and I call him my husband.
“We’re both Aquarians and a little disorganised, so we never get round to organise anything!
“I’m sure we’ll be one of those couples that elope somewhere.”
And the blonde star doesn’t even know what kind of wedding dress she’d like to walk down the aisle in.
She shared: “I haven’t even got a picture in my head of a wedding dress. You know some girls know what they want but I haven’t a clue. I think other people’s weddings are fun – It’s always nice to dress up.”
And after they get hitched, the couple could be planning another baby as the ‘2 Become 1’ singer recently admitted it would be “wonderful” to add to their brood.
She said: “Never say never. I’ve always been very maternal and I love being around children.
“I think if I’m lucky enough that would be something wonderful.”

Stacey Dooley expected backlash

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Dooley found the backlash against her hosting ‘Glow Up’ “painfully predictable”.
The 31-year-old star is best known for her hard-hitting documentaries, but after winning ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in December, she faced criticism when her next project was announced as the host of BBC Three make-up competition and she found the comments that she had “sold out” unsurprising and “boring”.
Asked if the jibes shocked her, she said: “Of course not. It’s painfully predictable: there are always people who are desperate to put you in your one camp and never let you leave. The idea that you could be interested in the Yazidi community and also in lipstick blows people’s minds. It’s a really short-sighted Stone Age attitude; it’s boring, actually.”
And Stacey thinks that make-up should be “celebrated”.
She said of the show: “[It is] like ‘Bake Off’; every week talented, aspiring make-up artists are given new challenges, such as creating prosthetics with someone who’s Oscar-nominated.
“We should celebrate make-up. It’s a lucrative industry; a massive employer.”
Meanwhile, Stacey admitted she was “gobsmacked” to win ‘Strictly’ as she was convinced Joe Sugg would lift the Glitterball Trophy.
She told You magazine: “I thought Joe had it in the bag. But I never took it too seriously; I always thought, ‘If I don’t nail the foxtrot, no one is going to die.’ ”
Though she enjoyed the subsequent arena tour, the ‘Canada’s Lost Girls’ presenter is now ready to “move on” from the show.
She said: “I’m itching to get travelling again; I’m ready to move on. ‘Strictly’s lasted six months – it’s a long time.”
And despite the busy schedule on the show, Stacey insisted it hasn’t made her any fitter.
She laughed: “No, I’m useless at fitness and the tour dances were only a minute-and-a-half long – and they weren’t challenging ones like the jive or the charleston – so I’m as bad as ever.”

Idris Elba hints he doesn’t want Bond role

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba has suggested he doesn’t want to play James Bond.
The ‘Luther’ actor has been tipped to take over from Daniel Craig as the suave spy but he insists he doesn’t want to be “defined” by any particular role and thinks the 007 franchise could be overwhelming.
He said: “Bond is one of the biggest franchises in the world, and for that reason, whoever ends up playing it, lives it. You’re THAT character, and known as that character for many, many years. I’m creating characters now that can still live alongside Idris. Not ones that take over me and solely define me.”
The 46-year-old actor further fuelled Bond speculation at this year’s Golden Globe awards when he and Daniel posed for a photo together, but he insists they had no idea the “spur-of-the-moment” picture would cause such a sensation.
Asked if he was sending a message with the photo, he told Event magazine: “Nah, we just did it on the spur of the moment, thought it would be a laugh. It was a selfie. Didn’t realise it would be picture of the year.”
While Idris may not want to head up the James Bond franchise, he’d love to do more to explore Brixton Lore, the character he will play in upcoming ‘Fast and Furious’ spin-off ‘Hobbs and Shaw’.
He described the villain as an “ex-MI6 agent, international, cybergenetically enhanced terrorist leader and a criminal mastermind”.
He added: “‘The Hobbs And Shaw’ character Brixton Lore is brilliant. Awesome. I’d love to see that franchise up and running, but it wouldn’t define me.”

Lewis Capaldi wants to have fun

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi just wants to have “fun”.
The 22-year-old singer doesn’t want the idea of performing for people or selling records to ever seem “normal” to him as he worries he’ll turn into a “tosser” if it does.
Discussing the video for his single ‘Grace’, in which he pole dances with a troupe of male strippers, he said: “The idea for the video was mine, because the treatments we got were tedious. They were all ‘Lewis is pining for a woman — in a field of wheat’. Er, no, I’m bloody not. I’m having a blast. Bring me male strippers, let’s have a laugh.
“My main aim is to have fun with this. People take music too seriously. It’s a f***ing stupid job.
“Even the idea of people paying to hear me shouting into a microphone for an hour is alien to me — and I hope it always will be. As soon as it feels normal, I’ll be a tosser.”
And the ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker joked he doesn’t expect his success to last.
He told Sunday Times Culture magazine: “I’m under no illusion. There are lots of male singers out there with raspy voices. I’m not recreating the wheel, just writing songs I like.
“The idea that this could last until my cocaine’n’sex scandal comes out is amazing. Five years? I’ll give it two.”
Despite his “very emotional” songs, Lewis insists that doesn’t reflect the type of person he is so he’d rather use his shows to make fans laugh and entertain them than just stand up and sing.
He said: “I understand that my music is very emotional, but at the same time I’m not an emotional guy.
“With my set list, I’d be bored if I went on stage and just sang. And it would be a hell of a heavy night for the fans. I’d rather keep them entertained with crotch-activated fireworks. I used those in London last year. Every time I thrust, there was an explosion.”

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is buying his dad a house

OHMYGOSSIP — Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is buying his dad a new house.
The ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ star wants to give back to his father and has told him to choose any house he wants and he will foot the bill for him.
Sharing the story on his Instagram account, he said: “I just got off the phone with my dad and, man, it was a great call and I just had to share this with you guys really quick. So about two, three weeks ago, I called my dad and I said, ‘Look, you’re probably happy where you’re at but I want to do something for you. I want to buy you a brand new home, wherever you want to live, you can live.’ He couldn’t believe it, he was speechless. So he just called me now. It’s a big weekend, he’s gonna go look at properties. He’s a Florida boy, so he’s going to go up to North Florida and look and he goes, ‘I’m so excited. I’m also so nervous.'”
Dwayne admitted it “felt good to his heart” when his father made a particular sweet comment about how proud he was of the wrestler-turned-actor.
He added: “My dad’s an old-school tough guy. I said, ‘What the hell are you nervous about?’ And he said, ‘Well,’ he was searching for words. ‘No one ever called to tell me they were gonna buy me a house before and the fact that it’s you, it’s my son, I’m so proud of you and I love you so much.’ I never heard my dad talk like that. It felt good to me and it felt good to my heart. You know, my dad used to beat my a**. Tough love, and I hated it back then, but I’m so grateful for it now. It just felt good to kind of give back to the ones who raised you. So, love you too, Pop.”

BBC’s Death in Paradise has been commissioned for two more series

OHMYGOSSIP — BBC’s ‘Death in Paradise’ has been commissioned for two more series.
The British-French crime drama – which stars Ardal O’Hanlon as Saint Marie Police Department’s lead detective Jack Mooney alongside Tobi Bakare, Shyko Amos, Don Warrington and Elizabeth Bourgine – has been signed up for two more series after recently wrapping up its eight season.
Aude Legastelois – who appeared in the last two episodes of the eighth season – is set to replace recently departed Josephine Jobert as new team member Madeleine Dumas.
Aude said: “I’m thrilled that I’ve been given the opportunity to continue my role as Madeleine and to rejoin the cast of ‘Death in Paradise’. I can’t wait for Madeleine to be fully integrated into the Honoré Police team and for the viewers to get to know her further.”
‘Death in Paradise’ is filmed on the French island of Guadeloupe and broadcast on BBC One in the UK and France 2 in France.
Tobi – who plays JP Hooper – was sad when Josephine, who portrayed Detective Sergeant Florence Cassel, left the programme as they both bonded when they joined the cast at the same time.
In the show, DS Florence left the police force following the tragic death of her fiancé Patrice.
Tobi said: “Me and Josie started in the same year – we started in Season Four. Though she started a couple of episodes before me, we were still getting to know the whole thing [together]. We were still learning.”
‘Death in Paradise’ continues next year on BBC One.

Lauren McQueen backs Malique Thompson-Dwyer in fight with Owen Warner

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren McQueen thinks Malique Thompson-Dwyer’s Muay Thai skills would help him in a fight with Owen Warner.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress – who plays Lily McQueen on the Channel 4 soap – has opened up about which of the two on screen love rivals she’d back in a real life scrap.
Putting some thought into it, she answered: “That’s a hard one! I think it would be quite close, but Malique does Muay Thai, so he’d be able to do a lot of moves on Owen!”
Malique is set to make his return to the show after a break while he was in the jungle last year for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, and his character Prince McQueen will be angry to find out Lily has been rekindling her romance with his best friend Romeo Quinn (Owen) after he ran away from the village.
Although Lauren’s alter ego will be having mixed feelings about Prince’s return, the soap star admitted she is delighted to have her cast mate back on set.
She added: “Lily is frustrated and heartbroken that Prince disappeared. Although she is angry, she still loves him deep down, and doesn’t want to hurt him when he finds out about Romeo.
“I couldn’t stop smiling when Malique was back on set. I missed him so much! It was good to have his energy back on set and laugh all day.”
Malique recently opened up about his break, and he admitted it was difficult to immediately “settle” back into his day job.
He said: “When I first came back on set, I was a bit rusty with my acting! I don’t know why, but when I returned for my first scene, I felt as if I’d been out of work for ages. I’ve settled in again now, though.”
