Royals stamping down on social media trolls

OHMYGOSSIP — The British royal family are stamping down on social media trolls.
The teams behind the social media channels for The Royal Family, Clarence House and Kensington Palace have shared a set of community guidelines for the likes of Twitter and Facebook and have urged all users to show “courtesy, kindness and respect” to all those online as well as the royals.
A foreword reads: “In these guidelines are in place to help create a safe environment on all social media channels run by The Royal Family, Clarence House and Kensington Palace. The aim of our social media channels is to create an environment where our community can engage safely in debate and is free to make comments, questions and suggestions.
“We ask that anyone engaging with our social media channels shows courtesy, kindness and respect for all other members of our social media communities. In order to help create this safe environment we have set out some guidelines which apply to any engagement with us or other members of the community on any of our social media channels. By engaging with our social media channels you agree to follow these guidelines.”
A tweet on Kensington Palace’s official Twitter account reads: “Today we have published guidelines for interacting with The @RoyalFamily, @ClarenceHouse and Kensington Palace social media channels.”
Attached to the tweet was a link to an extended document, which reminds members of the public that they will “send any comments they deem appropriate to law enforcement authorities for investigation as they feel necessary or is required by law”.
The new rules come after it was revealed that Kensington Palace are spending hours monitoring negative comments made against Duchess Catherine and Duchess Meghan.

Marshmello lands $60M Las Vegas residency

OHMYGOSSIP — Marshmello has landed a $60 million Las Vegas residency.
The ‘Happier’ DJ – who recently made history with the world’s first virtual reality concert on the popular game ‘Fortnite’ – will rake in the impressive sum
for shows at the new KAOS Dayclub and Nightclub in Sin City this spring.
Announcing the news on Twitter, the anonymous marshmallow hat-wearing star wrote: “I’m excited to announce my new home in Las Vegas will be @KaosVegas inside @Palms. By far one of the best things the city has seen in a long time. See you this spring! (sic)”
Marshmello’s manager Moe Shalizi said in a statement: “The Palms has always been one of the most iconic hotels, so it’s very exciting to announce that this will be our new home in Las Vegas.
“To be part of this legacy’s newest chapter is an honour.
“Not many other dayclubs and nightclubs in the world can compare to the amount of detail, quality and craftsmanship that have gone into KAOS.”
The ‘Friends’ hitmaker will open the venue with a special performance on April 4 and two days later he will kick off his stint which runs into May.
The likes of Cardi B, Travis Scott, Alicia Keys, J. Balvin, Skrillex, G-Eazy and Marshmello’s collaborators Bastille have also announced residencies at KAOS.
The venue in the Palms Casino Resort has benefited from a $690 million renovation.
Cardi – who has seven-month-old daughter Kulture with husband Offset – will kick off her stint sometime in spring, too, and will perform around “five or six” shows at the venue.

Pete Townshend’s debut novel set for November

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Townshend’s debut novel ‘The Age of Anxiety’ will be published on November 5.
The Who guitarist has spent a decade on the project, which is comprised of a book, opera and art installation, about society’s fears for the future, which he has referred to as a “magnum opus”, and it has now been confirmed that the novel will be made available globally in the English language through the book publishers Coronet.
The ‘Pinball Wizard’ hitmaker is also “polishing” the operatic music that will accompany the book and will be performed on stage.
Townshend commented: “Ten years ago I decided to create a magnum opus that would combine opera, art installation and novel.
“Suddenly here I am with a completed novel ready to publish.
“I am an avid reader and have really enjoyed writing it.
“I am also happy to say the majority of the music is composed, ready to be polished up for release and performance. It’s tremendously exciting.”
The book is set to reveal the 73-year-old rocker’s insight on the “craziness of the music business”, which he has been a part of for over 50 years, with his “sly sense of humour” coming through.
Mark Booth – who acquired the English language rights for ‘The Age of Anxiety’ – said: “The Age of Anxiety is a great rock novel, but that is one of the less important things about it.
“The narrator is a brilliant creation – cultured, witty and unreliable.
“The novel captures the craziness of the music business and displays Pete Townshend’s sly sense of humour and sharp ear for dialogue.
“First conceived as an opera, The Age of Anxiety deals with mythic and operatic themes including a maze, divine madness and long-lost children. “Hallucinations and soundscapes haunt this novel, which on one level is an extended meditation on manic genius and the dark art of creativity.”
Townshend – who is joined by Roger Daltrey in The Who, who have sold over 100 million records since forming in 1964 – previously described the project as “very serious” and about being “terrified” about what is in store for the next generation, with the effects of global warming and terrorism.
The ‘My Generation’ hitmaker said: “It’s … very, very focused and serious. The idea is that we’re all terrified. We’re living in terror, we’re living in anxiety, discomfort and the fear that we have is for the future, the fear for our children’s future.
“We’re worried about the planet, we’re worried about terrorism, being able to sustain life as we love it, we’re afraid we can’t guarantee peace.”
Townshend previously composed the rock operas ‘Tommy’ and ‘Quadrophenia’ based on the classic albums by the iconic rock band, which were released in 1969 and 1973 respectively.

Claire King says Emmerdale workload has ‘doubled’

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire King says the ‘Emmerdale’ workload has “doubled” since she last had a lengthy stint on the soap.
The 57-year-old actress is to reprise her role as Kim Tate on the ITV soap in the coming weeks – five months after she returned to the Dales for a special week of episodes – and admits there is still a great work ethic on the show, and she has been pleased with the welcome she’s received.
She said: “It’s almost as though I’ve never been away, although the workload is double.
“We’re in different studios and there’s a lot of different cast and crew, but there are still familiar faces.
“The work ethic is the same. People have been so welcoming and it really is like putting on an old pair of riding boots to a certain extent.
“It is a family, it sounds cliché when people say that, but it really is a family as opposed to just a cast.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who played Erica Holroyd on the rival ITV soap – is “very happy” to be back on ‘Emmerdale’ as a regular cast member again, and let slip she has signed up for an initial year in the Dales.
Claire – who previously played Kim from 1989 to 1999 – added: “There are no cliques, it’s just a really nice, healthy work place to be in.
“Make-up, crew, cast, everybody in the office, everybody seems to work as an individual cog in one big happy machine.
“That’s what I’ve found so far. Who knows? Ask me again in a year’s time, or should I say in six months’ time?
“I’m really happy at the work. I appreciate how much work goes into it nowadays.
“Everybody just cracks on and does it with very good aplomb.”

Tom Goodman-Hill drew on real life experiences for Cheat role

OHMYGOSSIP — The 50-year-old actor’s relationship with Kerry Bradley – with whom he has two children – collapsed in 2013 after 20 years together, and months later Tom embarked on a relationship with Jessica Raine, who he married in 2015 and had a child with last month.
The ‘Mr. Selfridge’ star has now admitted that his past experiences helped him deliver a “successful” performance as Adam Dale, the two-timing husband of Katherine Kelly’s character Dr. Leah Dale in ITV’s new psychological thriller.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine, he said: “I was very conscious of that when I picked up the script. If you understand the map, if you know how that feels, you’re going to bring something of that to the part.
“You draw on your experiences and choose moments from your life that resonate with your character.
“Part of your job is to help people understand what emotions people go through in any given situation so, inevitably, someone who can access it and understand it, is going to, perhaps, do that more successfully than someone who can’t.”
The new four-part drama will see Katherine’s university lecturer alter-ego lock horns with a student – Rose, played by Molly Windsor – she thinks is guilty of plagiarism, which the other woman denies.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star previously admitted she will not worry about the programme’s ratings once the show hits the small screen.
She said: “You can never predict the popularity of a show and I actually feel like it’s none of my business how well it does.
“We’re not interested for us as actors about how this is going to come out. We’re not thinking: ‘Yeah, I’m going to look really sexy in this.’ ”

Emily Atack hits back at trolls to protect fans

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Atack hits back at body-shaming trolls on social media to protect her fans.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star wants her fans to “embrace” their bodies and feel more confident in their own skin, and says a tweet she wrote after the Brit Awards last month regarding fat-shamers was to highlight the “unhealthy” behaviour she often receives online.
Speaking to the MailOnline, Emily said: “You know, with the BRITs thing, I did do a bit of a foul-mouthed tweet, but I was more angry about that. I don’t care what people think, if you make a negative comment about me, I can take it – that’s fine.
“It’s how unhealthy I find it, I know a lot of young girls are looking at my Instagram page and for them to see nasty comments written on a photo about my weight, it is bound to make other people feel insecure.
“If people are looking at my pictures and someone called me fat, they might look at that and go, ‘Oh God, if she’s fat, then I must be fat.’ Everyone is always comparing themselves to other people, it was more that I was sticking up for other people maybe going through body insecurities and it’s trolls like that who are the problem.”
Following the annual music awards in February, Emily took to Twitter to wish social media trolls “a wonderful evening” after she appeared on the red carpet wearing a white one-shouldered gown.
She wrote: “To all the lovely comments lots of you say to me, thank you from the bottom of my heart. To those who continue to call me fat.. have a wonderful evening, and then go and f**k yourself. All the best. X (sic)”
Emily, 29, also insisted she doesn’t let keyboard warriors get her down because she remembers to take everything with a “pinch of salt”.
She added: “I spend my life laughing in the face of adversity. I think it’s important to take everything with a pinch of salt and accept that you are going to get nasty comments here and there, even if you’re a size six or a size 30.
“You’re always going to get nasty people online who feel they have to bring other people down.
“I think if you can just stick two fingers up at it and go, ‘You know what, keep cracking on with what you’re doing, I’ll crack on with my life and not worry about it.’ ”

Warner Bros boss promises to get Fantastic Beasts 3 ‘right’

OHMYGOSSIP — Warner Bros. boss Kevin Tsujihara has promised that the studio will get ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ “right” after the poor response to ‘The Crimes of Grindelwald’.
The second chapter of the fantasy series, which starred Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller and Johnny Depp among others, was the worst reviewed in the wizarding world franchise and the lowest grossing in the J.K. Rowling canon.
However, the CEO of Warner Bros. Entertainment Tsujihara has insisted they “know what they need to do” for the next film to match the success of 2016’s ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ and says Rowling, 53, has an “incredible script” for the upcoming movie.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, Tsujihara said: “The second film didn’t perform as well as the first, but I think we know what we need to do to get the third film hopefully even better than the first one.
“And J.K. Rowling is really working hard now on that third script, and we’re going to get it right. She has an incredible vision of where she wants to go with this that is incredibly exciting.”
Tsujihara, 54, went on to explain that the key to creating the next movie will be finding a balance between older, more knowledgeable fans who know about the world through the ‘Harry Potter’ films and books and newer viewers who are experiencing the Wizarding World for the first time.
He added: “The hardest part of the franchise is you have such a big core fan base. That fan base really knows the lore and they want to go deep into these characters.
“But what you don’t want to do is intimidate people. You want to be able to create a stand-alone movie that’s enjoyable for someone who isn’t steeped in the lore.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger says rights row is stopping new Conan film

OHMYGOSSIP — Arnold Schwarzenegger is desperate to make a new ‘Conan’ movie but he doesn’t have rights to the character.
The 71-year-old actor found fame in the cult 1982 fantasy movie ‘Conan the Barbarian’ as the pre-historic warrior and he reprised the role in 1984’s ‘Conan the Destroyer’, with both films inspired by writer Robert E. Howard’s stories about the eponymous character who must battle dark magic and savage foes in the mythical world.
Schwarzenegger admits the script for the sequel is almost ready but he can’t proceed and start shooting the project because of a legal wrangle over the rights to Conan with the Robert E. Howard estate.
Speaking to website TheArnoldFans.com, he said: “The sad stuff about all of this is when there’s an estate like this, The Robert E. Howard estate … when someone buys these rights, those people now own the rights and they have their own vision of what they want to do.
“We have been trying to convince him for years now that the way to go is to come back and hire a really great director and to do another Conan movie. It’s really not that far from creating a finished script. The only one who really has to pull the trigger there is the people who own the Conan rights to do a movie.
“Let’s go to Netflix or whoever it is, let’s hire a director who’s very creative and can elevate the project to make it a winning project. I hope it will be done very soon because I think it’s a great idea.”
The ‘Terminator’ star added that the new movie would follow a 70-year-old Conan, played by him, who has become disillusioned with life on the throne as the king.
Schwarzenegger – who has wanted to reprise the role for over 20 years – said: “It would have me play King Conan, when Conan is like 70 years old and he’s disgusted by sitting on the throne and being the king and then something happens after that.”

Russell Brand shocks Bake Off judges with rude biscuit

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Brand stunned ‘The Great British Bake Off’ judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood by creating a biscuit shaped like a vagina.
The 43-year-old star competed with John Lithgow, Hannah Cockroft and Jon Richardson on this year’s ‘The Great Celebrity Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off’ and knew instantly he wanted to create a biscuit in the shape of female genitalia when groups were instructed to bake “their finest performance.”
Russell reasoned: “The female plays an integral role in the process of childbirth.
“That’s why it was a good performance because of my acceptance in a secondary role.”
To this declaration, Prue, 79, gasped: “You have got this great big vagina! It all sounds extraordinary.”
Prue and Paul are returning to screens to judge the celebrities’ creations and decide on a Star Baker every week.
This year, Jeremy Paxman, Michelle Keegan, Rylan Clark-Neal, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Caroline Flack, Russell Tovey, Sally Lindsay, Greg Wise, Jess Phillips, James Acaster, Big Narstie, Nicola Adams, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Joe Wilkinson, Johnny Vegas and Georgia Toffolo are also on the star-studded line-up.
The comedian has admitted that he occasionally struggles with being mindful and has made a suggestion to his 11.7 million Twitter followers that they should have “awareness of their breath” to help their state of mind.
Speaking in a Twitter video, he previously said: “I find it quite difficult. For example, being present in this moment means I have awareness in my breath an awareness of this moment and a kind of connection with the truth of what I’m saying, so that when you listen to it, it feels real.”
‘The Great Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off’ will air from Tuesday (05.03.19) at 8pm on Channel 4.

Sherlock Holmes 3 release date pushed back to 2021

OHMYGOSSIP — The release date for ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ has been pushed back to 2021.
Last year, Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures announced that the upcoming film would hit the big screen this December – nine years after the first sequel ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ was released.
However, the studio has now announced that it will come out on December 21, 2021, a decade after the second film.
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law – who starred in the first and second films – will reprise their roles as detective Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson respectively.
The third instalment will be based on a script penned by Chris Brancato, while Robert’s wife Susan Downey, Joel Silver and Lionel Wigram are on board to produce.
However, bosses are yet to confirm a director – meaning Guy Ritchie, who directed the first two films, may have turned down the third movie or is yet to sign a contract.
Aside from Downey Jr and Law, no other cast members have been announced.
The first ‘Sherlock Holmes’ film was released in December 2009, and earned $524 million globally, while the second flick ‘A Game of Shadows’ debuted in December 2011 and banked $545.4 million at the worldwide box office.
‘Iron Man’ star Robert has teased fans about his role as the private detective in the third edition of the adventure mystery film last year after he took to his social networking sites to “practice” his “Sherlock face” ahead of production.
Alongside a gif of him in character, he wrote: “Practicing my Sherlock face.”

Liam Gallagher mocks Noel Gallagher’s tour with potato quip

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has referred to his brother Noel Gallagher as a “potato” again after it was announced he’s supporting Smashing Pumpkins.
The former Oasis frontman couldn’t resit making a cheeky quip about his former bandmate and rival’s forthcoming tour in the US with Billy Corgan and co and AFI with his High Flying Birds, which kicks off on August 8 in New Jersey.
Responding to a fan on Twitter who shared the news, the 46-year-old rocker replied: “Pumpkins n potato’s what ever nxt (sic)”
The origin of the spud feud goes back a few years.
In 2016, Noel opened up about about quitting the Britpop group in 2009 after a backstage fight erupted between the pair at their concert in Paris.
The 51-year-old rocker had claimed that Liam was firing tour managers “because he didn’t like their shoes” and dedicating songs to his clothing label Pretty Green on stage.
And the ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker responded by tweeting a picture of Noel in June that year, captioning it: “Pouting Potato LG x (sic)”
Responding to the comments made about him, Noel said previously: “That’s so unlike him. I guess it’s about him staying relevant. If you’re him, what else is there to tweet about? How his spring/summer collections are doing for his clothing firm? I’m not sure that warrants a tweet. Should he ever climb out of the ‘Where are they now?’ basket and grant you an interview, ask him. I’m sure you’ll get a typically f***ing surreal answer.”
A year later, Liam asked for a fan to peel a potato at his London gig and was answered by a vegetable-wielding man.
The unusual request was a double-edged dig at his estranged brother’s expense.
His plea for the spud to be part of his band’s sound was also another swipe at his sibling’s scissor player, who joined the High Flying Birds during his performance of ‘She Taught Me How To Fly’ – from his psychedelic album ‘Who Built The Moon?’ – on weekly UK music show ‘Later… With Jools Holland’.
Ahead of his show at London’s Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, Liam had tweeted: “I’m looking for somebody to peel some spuds live on stage tonight at this gig in Bethnal Green must have own peeler as you were LG x (sic)”
When Liam played Parklife festival in Manchester last year, fans were banned from bringing potato peelers onto the site.

Brie Larson’s fame fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Brie Larson wasn’t sure if she was going to take on the role of ‘Captain Marvel’ because she was worried about her “anonymity”.
The 29-year-old actress only knew too well how her role in the Marvel movie would shoot her to international fame and she admits she had to carefully consider taking on the job as she is a “super introvert”.
She said: “Marvel was very patient with me. They understand what taking something like this on means. My anonymity has always been super important to me, not just because I’m a super introvert – that’s how I’m able to disappear into other characters.”
However, Brie is glad she signed up for the movie and she wants the character to inspire girls and young women to be strong individuals.
She told ABC News: “For it to finally come out and to get these little glimmers of seeing young girls excited about it, it’s everything to me. I didn’t make this movie for myself, I made it for them.”
Meanwhile, the Hollywood actress previously confessed she is finding the new attention she is currently receiving is “scary”.
She said: “It definitely is scary to think of people paying attention to me. I’m not gonna act super-strong when I’ve been kind of freaking out seeing how quickly my numbers on Instagram have been going up since ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ came out … I’ve been sort of like, ‘Oh God, I did not think about that. Um, like why are people paying attention to me?’ I really just feel the same. I do feel like just a person. And so it’s a weird feeling when people on the outside view you differently.”

Jonas Brothers’ magical bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Jonas thinks there is a “magical” bond between him and his siblings.
The ‘Jealous’ hitmaker has reunited with his brothers Kevin and Joe to reform the Jonas Brothers and he has revealed that the trio decided to get back together after realising they were missing something in their lives.
Speaking on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Nick said: “About a year-and-a-half ago, we started filming a documentary… [that] tracks kind of our childhood into our time in the band, and it was gonna be a story about where we are today. With separate lives, doing separate things – Joe with DNCE, me with my solo stuff.
“But during [filming and production] we started to realise that there was a magic that we felt like we were missing. So the process was basically just us saying, ‘Why don’t we give this a another shot?’ So we started playing a little music together and realised right away this is where we’re meant to be in our lives at this moment.”
Nick had previously confessed that the relationship between The Jonas Brothers was so bad after their 2013 split that they never thought they would reconcile.
Speaking after their surprise reunion and the release of new single ‘Sucker’, he said: “When it ended it was not good. It was a couple years of rebuilding our family, and in our mind it seemed impossible for us to do this ever again.”
Whilst Joe added: “We had to work through and understand what we were going through when we were that young. It was interesting because for so many years we just put it under the rug. We said, ‘We’re done, let’s just try to rebuild our friendship and our relationship as brothers’ – it just happened in its own time.”

On her Instagram story, she wrote: “When someone you love, gets taken from you. And the small circumferences surrounding you is stuck. Frozen in a moment. Of loss. And shock. Yet the people passing you are moving at full speed.
“Did they not feel the earth shake? Or slow? Can they hear the thoughts screaming in my head? His name. His face. Memories. Flashes. Of a friend. A lost friend.”
“We always expect the earth to stand still. For the universe to grieve the loved ones we have lost, along with us.
“But it keeps moving. Maybe as a sign that we should too. The movement of strangers, like a wave taking us with them. (sic)”
Lili concluded her heartbreaking tribute by confessing that in grieving it’s “too hard to give anything”.
The ‘Surviving Jack’ actress also took to twitter to mourn Luke and says that although she is “finding it hard to grasp” that her friend will no longer be around, she is praying for his children Jack and Sophie, who he has with his ex-wife Minnie Sharp.
She wrote: “I’m finding it hard to grasp that he will no longer be around to give long hugs and share his wisdom and kindness with all of us. I’m thinking of his family. His children. I pray for them to heal and find peace in this devastating loss. (sic)”
