Mel B’s family never gave up

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel B’s sister “didn’t stop” trying to get in touch with the Spice Girls star.
The ‘Wannabe’ hitmaker reconciled with her family in 2017 after a 10-year estrangement and Danielle Brown admitted she constantly did whatever she could to reach out to her older sibling during that time, despite claiming Mel’s then-husband Stephen Belafonte “totally cut off” his wife from her loved ones.
Danielle told new! magazine: “We never had a fallout. I believe it was all him and that he totally cut her off from her friends, family and work colleagues.
“It was desperate.
“People say, ‘Why didn’t you just ring her or turn up at her house?’ but it wasn’t as easy as that.
“You’d get hold of her phone number and it would ring – he’d answer – then you’d ring again 10 minutes later and the number would be changed.
“Email addresses would be changed, the house address changed, any packages I sent were sent back. It was like that for 10 years.”
Asked how Mel found out her dad Martin was dying, Danielle explained: “I didn’t stop contacting people. I tried everyone, even down to the make-up artists on her show.
“I thought that somehow, somewhere, someone would be able to get a message to her.
“She was doing ‘Chicago’ on stage so I’d email people I knew were working with her.
“Eventually she picked up the phone and called. I just told her to get home as soon as she could. When she came back she saw we were there for her. She could see we were family.”
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star believes Mel had no idea her family had been desperate to maintain contact with her over the years.
She said: “From what I know, Stephen would tell her we hadn’t even tried to contact her and didn’t let her know about the emails, phone calls or parcels we’d sent her. So you can understand it from her point of view – she was told her family wanted nothing to do with her.”
Danielle claims Stephen – the father of Mel’s youngest daughter, seven-year-old Madison – called her mother to warn her she’d never see the ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge again “for no reason”, but the family never gave up hope.
She said: “She’s my only sister so half of me was gone for a decade. It was like I was an only child.
“I nursed my dad on my own, I planned my mum’s 60th on my own.
“I had to hold the fort on my own for 10 years.
“I wasn’t angry. I felt she couldn’t be reached, but never ever gave up hope she’d come back to us.”

Khloe Kardashian isn’t ready to date again

OHMYGOSSIP — Khloe Kardashian isn’t ready to date again.
The 34-year-old reality TV star was left devastated when her partner Tristan Thompson – who is the father of her daughter True – allegedly kissed family friend Jordyn Woods recently and Khloe has decided to take time to enjoy being single rather than rush into another relationship.
A source told ET: “Khloe is really enjoying the single life, and spending time with True! She still feels betrayed by Tristan but she isn’t allowing that to affect her happiness any longer. Khloe loves with all of her heart and gave Tristan another chance but that relationship is over for good. Khloe is taking time to be single, enjoy her friends and family and focus on her business.
“Khloe is in no rush to start dating seriously, but she is someone who has a lot of love to give and would like someone to enjoy her time with in the future.”
Meanwhile, Khloe recently said she thinks she needs to start dating “accountants” rather than basketball players.
After NBA star Tristan allegedly kissed family friend Jordyn Woods, and her former husband Lamar Odom cheated on her with multiple women, Khloe agrees with her grandmother that she needs to find love away from the basketball court.
Appearing with her sisters on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, the host asked her: “I do want to ask about this character that you had a baby with. Is it time to stop dating basketball players?”
Khloe replied: “I don’t know. I like what I like. What can I say?
“But I do agree. I should have listened to my MJ, my grandmother, and start dating like accountants or something like that.”
The ‘Revenge Body’ host insisted she is genuinely a fan of the sport.
Asked if she actually likes basketball, she replied: “I actually do. I don’t play basketball. I just like basketball. It’s the whole thing of it all.”

Sandra Oh cried after meeting Yoko Ono

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandra Oh “burst out crying” after meeting Yoko Ono.
The 47-year-old actress bumped into the multimedia artist and peace activist – who was married to the late Beatles star John Lennon – at Los Angeles International airport whilst heading into the first class lounge, and has said she was completely starstruck by the encounter that she began crying.
Speaking during an appearance on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’, she said: “I sit down and I look up and it’s Yoko Ono. I didn’t know I could bow so low, I could bow so low and say, ‘Hello, Yoko. It’s so nice to meet you.’
“And then I was able to ask her before actually just posing in that photograph, I’m like, ‘Would that be all right?’ And she said ‘Okay.’ And I burst out crying. Burst out crying. I mean, not that much of a surprise.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Killing Eve’ star recently said she’s learned how to give “less f**ks” now that she’s older, as she’s had time to get used to her body and isn’t as “insecure” as she was in her 20s.
She said: “I was more insecure when I was 20 than I am at 47. At 47 it’s like, ‘You need me to put on a crazy dress with mirrors? Yeah, sure. I’m going to work the s**t out of this!’ I don’t know what I’m doing. It’s, like, you give less f**ks. Ageing is the greatest. It really gives you more space to be that person in the mirrored dress who has always been inside.”
And although she wasn’t as confident in her 20s, Sandra insists that time in her life was “powerful”, as she had the “energy and boldness” to pursue an acting career.
She added: “It’s really such a powerful time when you’re 23, 24. There is a certain energy and boldness, but I’ve always been driven. This industry can be crushing, but I f***ing love it. I love it, and I think I would be acting and doing something creative no matter what.”

Wendy Williams: I’m proof of hope after addiction

OHMYGOSSIP — Wendy Williams says she is “living proof” of life after addiction.
The talk show host revealed on her eponymously titled show last month she has been living in a sober house in New York in order to combat her addictions, and has now urged other addicts to not be “ashamed”, as there’s always “hope” for them to recover.
Wendy spoke as she promoted a new sober helpline she has set up through her family’s Hunter Foundation charity, which aims to bring relief to struggling addicts.
In a public service announcement for the helpline, Wendy said: “The calls are being answered by specially-trained, certified recovery coaches. They’re very smart. They conduct screenings to your needs. The substance abuse will be taken care of. We will provide you referrals for long or short-term treatment at facilities all around the world – detox, rehab, sober living and out-patient centres.
“If you’re an addict or a substance abuser don’t be ashamed. Help is here for you, or a family member, or a loved one. Call, don’t be ashamed. There is hope. I’m living proof.”
The 54-year-old presenter previously spoke about her substance abuse hotline – which was set up in partnership with T.R.U.S.T., an organisation dedicated to building a bridge from treatment to long-term recovery – as she urged everyone to “come together” to help tackle the issues of addiction.
She said: “We must all come together to respond to this crisis of addiction and substance abuse. Everyone is at risk from the inner cities to more affluent communities. My family and I are very proud to partner with T.R.U.S.T. to get people the help that they so desperately need, especially if they or their families have given up hope. There is hope.”

Hilaria Baldwin insists she’s ‘okay’ after revealing possible miscarriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Hilaria Baldwin has assured her fans she “will be okay”, after revealing she’s “most likely experiencing a miscarriage”.
The health and wellness expert told her Instagram followers this week that she was expecting her fifth child with husband Alec Baldwin – with whom she already has Carmen, five, Rafael, three, Leonardo, two, and Romeo, 10 months – but accompanied the announcement with the tragic news that she believes she is miscarrying their tot.
And now, she’s reached out again to thank her fans for their support, and says that whilst the loss is tough to deal with, she’s found that being open and honest has been “extremely healing” for her.
In another post on Instagram, she wrote: “Thank you for your support and thank you for your stories. I want to assure you that I know I will be ok. I have perspective to understand sadness and loss in the grand scheme of things. Emotionally I am processing it all…being able to be open with you has been extremely healing. I was very nervous to share, and am so relieved that it was received with such love. I am grateful that you listened and I’m grateful that I have these tiny partners to go through this with. I don’t know what I would do without my community. Thank you for making my world a brighter place and for your sharing. I know that you didn’t have to and am humbled and honored by your openness. I don’t know about you, but I find it extremely comforting to know that I am not alone on this difficult journey #neveralone (sic)”
Hilaria, 35, made her miscarriage concerns public on Thursday (04.04.19) when she posted a picture of her small baby bump, and said the chances of her having a fifth child this time around are “very very small”.
She wrote in part of a lengthy caption: “I want to share with you that I am most likely experiencing a miscarriage. I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss.
“I think it’s important to show the truth…because my job is to help people by being real and open. Furthermore, I have no shame or embarrassment with this experience. I want to be a part of the effort to normalize miscarriage and remove the stigma from it.
“So, this is what is going on now: the embryo has a heartbeat, but it isn’t strong, and the baby isn’t growing very much. So we wait–and this is hard. So much uncertainty…but the chances are very, very small that this is a viable pregnancy. I have complete confidence that my family and I will get through this, even if the journey is difficult. (sic)”

David Gray has reinvigorated his old hits

OHMYGOSSIP — David Gray says bringing back the electronic elements to his old hits has made performing them much more interesting for him to perform.
The 50-year-old English singer/songwriter is currently touring his eleventh studio LP ‘Gold in a Brass Age’ – which he recorded with producer Ben de Vries, the son of composer and studio wizard Marius de Vries – and he has made the decision to play the majority of that record at the beginning of his concerts and then he gives his fans the tracks they love from 1998’s ‘White Ladder’ and his other albums later in the setlist.
Gray may have played songs like ‘Babylon’ and ‘Please Forgive Me’ thousands of times but due to the set-up of his current band he’s now been able to once again add the often overlooked electronic parts to those tracks and he admits it’s been great to play them once again how they sound on the records.
Speaking to website MusicFeeds, he said: “We play for like 45 minutes at the start, and it’s all songs from the new album. Then, for the next hour 15, we circle back around to the past and work backwards chronologically. Because of the electronic elements in the new songs, and the way we’ve had to construct the live set, we’ve been able to bring back electronic elements into my previous songs like ‘Babylon’ and ‘Please Forgive Me’. The sonics from the original songs are back, and it’s the first time I’ve rendered them like that in many years. People seem to have been really enjoying the new songs, but to be able to play the old songs in their original form feels like a series of detonations among the audience. It has a profound effect – the audience just ignites.”
Gray insists he would always include the songs from ‘White Ladder’ – which celebrated it’s 20th anniversary last year – in his set because they are the tracks which made his a star and they are so beloved by his fans, and playing them now makes him feel quite emotional.
He said: “I’m proud of those records. It’s not so much of an effort to connect with them now – I mean, I know them like the back of my hand, and I’ve performed them thousands upon thousands of times. No matter what you’re performing up there, you’re digging down and enacting that feeling. You’re controlling it and putting it across. The thing about some of the old songs is they’re a crowd activator – they will flood you with emotion, and it brings you to life the second you start singing it.”

Rihanna praises mother

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna has praised her mother for teaching her about forgiveness.
The 31-year-old singer – who is currently suing her father for allegedly exploiting her name without her permission – took to Instagram to pay tribute to her mother Monica Braithwaite on Friday (05.04.19).
Rihanna wrote: “Happy Birthday to my sweet beautiful mother. Thanks for teaching me that strength, love, forgiveness, sacrifice, hard work, and helping others in whatever way you can…is what true beauty looks like. Love you and I appreciate you! Thank You God for choosing this wonderful being to be my mom!”
Meanwhile, Rihanna – whose real name is Robyn Fenty – recently filed a lawsuit against her father Ronald Fenty and a company called Fenty Entertainment for allegedly using the surname, which she uses on her range of Fenty Beauty products, to solicit business acting as agents of the singer.
In court documents obtained by The Blast, Rihanna accused her father and another man named Moses Perkins of creating an entertainment company to act as her agents, although she says she has nothing to do with the company.
The documents added: “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf.”
The ‘Work’ hitmaker claimed her father booked a $15 million tour in Latin America and two concerts at Los Angeles’ Staples Center and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for $400,000.
In both cases, Rihanna insisted she has nothing to do with the bookings.
She also alleged that Ronald claimed he ran the business offers through Rihanna’s actual label, Roc Nation, but the singer argued no-one from the label was ever made aware of anything her father was doing.
The ‘Umbrella’ singer claims to have sent several cease and desist letters to her father, but after he failed to stop, she filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction against Ronald and his business partner, as well as unspecified damages.
This is not the first time Ronald has tried to use the Fenty name, as in 2018 he tried to trademark the name for a line of boutique hotels, but the paperwork was shot down by the US Patent & Trademark Office.

Avicii single to be released next week

OHMYGOSSIP — Avicii’s first posthumous track will be released next week.
The Swedish DJ – whose real name was Tim Bergling – died by suspected suicide in Oman in April last year, at the age of 28 and his family are set to release a 16-track album of previously unheard material in June.
The album ‘Tim’ will be preceded by a track ‘SOS’, which is set to drop on Wednesday (10.04.19) and features vocals by soul singer Aloe Blacc.
A message from his representatives stated: “He left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages about the music. The songwriters that Tim was collaborating with on this album have continued the process to get as close to his vision as possible.
“Since Tim’s passing, the family decided not to keep the music locked away – instead they wanted to share it with his fans all around the world.”
Coldplay’s Chris Martin – who previously worked with Bergling – will sing on a song named ‘Heaven’.
Net proceeds from the album will benefit the Tim Bergling Foundation, which has been set up by his family to help those struggling with mental illness and also to support the prevention of suicide.
His family said in a statement: “Tim wanted to make a difference. Starting a foundation in his name is our way to honour his memory and continue to act in his spirit.”
At the end of April 2018, Avicii’s family released a statement which seemingly confirmed the star had taken his own life.
It read: “Stockholm, 26 April 2018. Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight. Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, Your family.”

Emilia Clarke’s ‘epic’ GoT romance

OHMYGOSSIP — Emilia Clarke has teased Daenerys Targeryen and Jon Snow will have an “epic” relationship in the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’.
The 32-year-old actress’ Mother of Dragons alter ego got together with the King in the North at the end of season seven, without realising they are actually aunt and nephew, and the British star couldn’t wait to read her scripts for the upcoming eighth series to find out what would happen to them.
Asked if she was keen to find out what happened between Daenerys and Jon, she said: “Yeah, I was sent the script and I read it in an afternoon.
“Then I just left my house and walked for about three hours around London, aimlessly wandering – because it’s so epic.
“It’s the most contemporary relationship she’s had in the show.
“They’re incredibly similar, they have so much that binds them. He brings out an honesty in her that she hasn’t experienced. So I think that’s an interesting relationship.”
While Emilia admitted she is “always” worried about disappointing fans with the twists of the show, she knows it can’t make everyone happy.
She said: “You want everyone to be happy. But in the final season of any show, there’s going to be upset people, there’s going to be fights within friendship groups, there’s going to be, ‘Who’s side are you on?’ ”
Emilia thinks it is “important” that the show goes out on a high and while there’s still interest in hit.
She said: “I’m a big fan of TV shows finishing when you’re still ready for more.
“If the series goes on too long, you’re doing a disservice to both the characters and also to the writing.
“It’s important to have that want for more to still be there.”

Coronation Street to introduce first black family

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ will introduce its first black family in June.
The Baileys – comprised of father Edison, mother Aggie and sons Michael and James – will move into number three on the soap’s famous cobbled street after buying the house from Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden).
Producer Iain MacLeod told ITV: “The north-west and Great Britain as a whole is a big melting pot of people from different backgrounds and ethnicities and the more representative we can make Corrie of Manchester and Britain the better really.
“It was a no-brainer, but I mean, as with anything on ‘Coronation Street’, it was the characters that came first and [the Baileys] were just instantly likeable.”
While the show has previously featured black characters, this is the first time a black family has been introduced.
When asked why the show has never had a black family before, MacLeod said: “Short answer – I don’t really know.
“In the past, new families come in one at a time. I find that a harder way to do it, which is why they all turn up and you get the dynamic.
“Manchester has a large proportion of black residents so it did feel sort of overdue we did this and represented modern Manchester a bit more accurately.”
The addition of the new family will help the soap to explore the themes of racism and homophobia in sport as 19-year-old Weatherfield County footballer James (played by musical theatre star Nathan Graham) is due to come out as gay in an upcoming storyline
MacLeod said: “We wanted to look at a modern story about a young, gay man. It won’t be your normal coming out story where we see James wrestling with his sexuality.
“We were quite keen that he knows who he is but has some apprehensiveness about telling his parents, has a lot of apprehensiveness about his teammates potentially finding out.
“When we meet the character he’s on the cusp of bigger things football-wise and is also aware that despite the progress we’ve made as a society, homophobia on the terraces is still fairly rampant.”
Trevor Michael Georges will play builder Edison, who takes over the builder’s yard with son Michael (‘CBeebies House’ presenter Ryan Russell) and Lorna Laidlaw is set to star as matriarch and pharmacy assistant Aggie.
Daughter Diana – who has yet to be cast by producers – will join the family on the cobbles at a later date.

Amanda Holden won’t cover up on BGT

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden has vowed never to cover up on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The TV show judge has been slammed for her racy outfits on the family show but Amanda has insisted that despite Ofcom complaints, she is happy to continue to flash the flesh.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper about reports she is set to dress more conservatively, she said: “It’s been called another national ¬crisis — but, oh no, I will NOT be covered up.”
Speaking about her Julien Macdonald which caused Ofcom complaints, she said: “That dress was hysterical — it was Julien Macdonald. I had bits of fish wire underneath my breasts trying to hold that together. But, look, I’m from a small- chest family, plus you know I’m 48 years old. It’s all quite laughable, but all everyone seems to talk about.
“[Co-judge] Alesha Dixon’s boobs are much better than mine. Talk about hers!”
And Amanda, 48, has insisted that she, Alesha and fellow panellists Simon Cowell and David Walliams are all set to return to the ITV show next year.
She said: “I never ever dreamed that I would still be on the show 13 years later. It is a joke. It’s brilliant. I’m really lucky to still be on the show, I don’t ever take it for granted. Simon has said as long as the show is going that the judges will stay the same because what’s the point of it changing? It’s not broken.
“If he didn’t think we were working, he wouldn’t tell us, he’d get his henchman to. I know they’re renegotiating various deals with ITV at moment, that’s as far as I know. But we’re all onboard.”

Nicholas Hoult’s X-Men success still feels weird

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicholas Hoult still thinks it’s “bizarre” that he’s part of the ‘X-Men’ franchise.
The 29-year-old actor – who portrays Beast/ Hank McCoy in the franchise – was a huge fan of the movies when he was younger so being cast in 2010’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ and then getting to walk
He said: “It’s mad – you don’t expect that. Also, as well as ‘Lord of the Rings’ being really influential movies when I was 11 and 12, the ‘X-Men’ movies were equally so.
“So then you find yourself a couple of years down the road doing ‘Days of Future Past’ and you’re in those corridors that you grew up watching, with Hugh Jackman.
“I had to pinch myself. I was looking over thinking, ‘This is mad, I’m walking down the corridor with him and we’re going to Cerebro.’ Bizarre.
“And then you grow and have these friendships and all these things with the people involved. It’s a little family unit.”
With his fourth ‘X-Men’ movie, ‘Dark Phoenix’, released next month, Nicholas is pleased with the way his character has evolved over the years.
He told Empire magazine: “He started off as a student in that first film, ashamed of his mutant capabilities and then that changed and he became an enabler and carer for Charles, and there’s his relationships with Mystique, with Raven, and then becoming a teacher, and now in this film we take that to a different level again, where he starts to question the authority figures.
“His beliefs change, and his understanding of how things should be handled.
“Also he’s dealing with trauma. It’s a lot. That’s a really nice thing, because you grow up playing him and it also feels like it’s changing.”

Jack Whitehall to join Idris Elba in Mouse Guard

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Whitehall is set to join Idris Elba in ‘Mouse Guard’.
The ‘Jungle Cruise’ actor is reportedly in discussions to join Elba, Andy Serkis, Samson Kayo and Thomas Brodie-Sangster in Fox’s adaptation of the popular Boom! Studios comic, which is being directed by Wes Ball.
The film – which is set in a medieval world – will tell the story of an order of mice who are the sworn protectors of their realm.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jack is in talks to play Kenzie, “the calm and measured staff wielder who is often paired with Kayo’s character, Saxson”.
As previously reported, Samson will play a member of the guard named Saxson, who is described as “lush and a scalawag” with a “fiery temperament and an inclination for melodrama”.
The on-screen pairing is expected to have a comedic element as the polar opposites work together.
Meanwhile, Idris is set to play Celanawe, “an Obi-Wan Kenobi-like figure who was once a legendary champion and now thought long gone”.
Serkis will star as the villain and Brodie-Sangster will play the role of Lieam, who has to prove his bravery throughout the movie.
Production work on ‘Mouse Guard’ – which is based on the comics and graphic novel by David Petersen and will be shot using motion capture – is expected to begin in May.

Alesha Dixon praises Ant’s BGT return

OHMYGOSSIP — Alesha Dixon says things are “back to normal” since Ant McPartlin returned to ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 43-year-old TV presenter took a year off work to focus on his sobriety after he was arrested for drink-driving last year and although his presenting partner Declan Donnelly was praised for carrying on solo, Alesha said the ‘BGT’ team are happy to have Ant back.
She told the Daily Mirror: “It was a lovely day because the family were back together, we were reunited.
“The energy was good, there was a lot of love in the room and of course we all missed him tremendously so it was like things were back to normal.
“We had the most incredible series so you’re in for a treat. We’re very lucky, the six of us have a great working relationship.
“It has been lovely to work together for so many years. When you put that missing piece of the puzzle back it makes everything brilliant.”
Meanwhile, Ant recently revealed he was “so emotional” on his first day back on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ because he didn’t expect such “goodwill and love” from fans.
He said: “Wow, it was so emotional for me.
“I don’t think either of us were quite prepared for that. We didn’t expect that level of goodwill and love. It was a very emotional day for me.”
The new series of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ kicks off on Saturday (06.04.19), and in the first episode Ant was touched when a young contestant told him she had “missed” him.
