Penny Lancaster wants to be police volunteer

OHMYGOSSIP — Penny Lancaster wants to “make a difference” as a police volunteer.
The 47-year-old star – who is married to rock legend Rod Stewart – joined the force for Channel 4 reality show ‘Famous and Fighting Crime’, and she admitted it has lit a fire in her.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’, the panellist said: “Being a police volunteer, I felt like I was on the front line and reaching out to those people, and making a difference in their lives.”
Now, Penny is keen to fully embrace the role beyond the show, and she revealed she got more out of the experience than she ever expected.
She added: “I’ve embraced it. The prospect of becoming a police officer and get involved on the front line, and getting to grips with the local community really appealed to me.
“It sounded exciting – I thought, what a fantastic experience. But that was just on the surface.
“When I actually got involved it was far more serious than that to the point that I was doing long shifts, getting home at four in the morning and my husband was terrified at the stories I would tell him.”
While her rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle was brought up, the former model explained it was a big reason behind her decision to volunteer.
She said: “Rod and I, obviously living a very privileged life, I always liked the idea of giving back.”
The show certainly went beyond what she expected, given that Penny thought she might be spending time answering calls rather than being on the front line herself.
She added: “It was sitting in the briefs, stab vest, in the cop cars, out in the streets, literally responding to whatever call came through. So, you never knew what was round the corner.”

Toby Whithouse to pen Gormenghast adaptation with Neil Gaiman

OHMYGOSSIP — Toby Whithouse will pen the new TV adaptation of Mervyn Peake’s ‘Gormenghast’ novels.
The ‘Doctor Who’ writer is set to create the show for Freemantle, who crafted a deal to adapt all of Peake’s fantasy series, alongside Neil Gaiman and Akiva Goldsman, after winning a hotly contested battle to option the five books.
The story – comprised of four books, ‘Titus Groan’, ‘Gormenghast’, ‘Titus Alone’ and a novella, ‘Boy in Darkness’ – follows the inhabitants of Castle Gormenghast, a sprawling, decaying, gothic-like structure ruled by the noble family of Groan.
The new series will mark the first televised take on the books since the BBC brought the first two books to the screen in a four-part series in 2000, and Neil and Akiva are to oversee the show alongside Barry Spikings and David A. Stern.
The 48-year-old producer also created ‘Being Human’ and recently scripted the upcoming BBC dystopian drama ‘Noughts And Crosses’ – which follows an alternate world where white and black people are segregated.
The tale follows lead character Sephy, a member of the ruling black class, the ‘Crosses’, and her childhood sweetheart Callum, a ‘Nought’ and member of the white underclass.
The BBC synopsis of the drama reads: “Against a background of prejudice, distrust and powerful rebellion mounting on the streets, a passionate romance builds between Sephy and Callum which will lead them both into terrible danger.”
Toby is taking over the reins from the project’s original screenwriters, ‘Youngers’ writer Levi David Addai and ‘Life on Mars’ co-creator Matthew Graham – after project delays meant a change in writer.

Cheryl done with dating

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl has “stopped” dating.
The ‘Love Made Me Do It’ singer – who was previously married to Ashley Cole and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini – has been single since splitting from Liam Payne in the summer and insisted she has reached the “end” of her romantic endeavours.
She said: “I know what I want in life, but in the romantic area, I am not as evolved. That area has stopped. It’s not happening anymore. It’s the end. It’s the end.”
And the 35-year-old star insisted her and Liam’s son Bear, 19 months, is the only man she needs.
Speaking to Jessie Ware on her ‘Table Manners’ podcast, she said: “I’ve got the man in my life now.”
The former Girls Aloud singer is returning to the music for the first time since she became a parent and she admitted it’s taken a lot of “adjusting” as she “refused” any help with the tot until recently.
She said: “I have to work on the juggling. It’s a lot of adjusting. I refused to get help with him until he was 16 months old. It didn’t feel natural for me.
“I’ve had a luxury, to have the time, to have a year out with my son.”
Cheryl knows she can always rely on Bear’s grandparents to help her out but wishes her mother Joan would move in with them.
She said: “I would like my mam to live with me but she doesn’t like London.
“If there’s anything I need outside the hours of 9-6, I call my mam who comes down from Newcastle and say I need her for two nights. Or Liam’s parents are good.”
Though the ‘Only Human’ hitmaker is busy with her career, she’s still found the time to get ahead with her Christmas shopping.
She told ‘Capital Breakfast’: “I have done all the baby’s Christmas shopping, that’s done and in the bag.”

Emma Bunton recalls sick Spice Girls incident

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Bunton once vomited in Mel B’s mouth on a Spice Girls night out.
The 42-year-old singer and her bandmates – Mel B, Geri Horner and Mel C – appeared on her own Heart Breakfast radio show to discuss the group’s upcoming reunion tour and during the chat Emma remembered that when the girls first toured America she sprayed her bandmate in sick by accident.
Emma said: “We were in America, we’d gone out for some drinks and we were on our way home in the car. And I did feel very ill because I’d eaten something weird and had a few drinks and I was sick out the window but it blew into [her mouth]. Well, it was because she was still talking, if she’d kept her mouth shut for five minutes it might not have blown in!”
The foursome – who have reformed without Victoria Beckham – are to play a host of stadium shows in the UK next summer and Mel C is very excited to play the band’s greatest hits to a new generation of Spice Girls fans.
The ‘Spice Up Your Life’ hitmaker said: “We’re gonna play all of our hits, we’ve got some really interesting creative ideas but we want our fans from back in the day to come and enjoy it and we want new fans that we get introduced to all the time. Oh my gosh I’ve met a fan who is four years old, it’ll be lovely for those people to be able to see us on stage, people who never got round to seeing us last time.”

Jessie Ware convinced her house is haunted

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessie Ware believes a ghost is haunting her house.
The 34-year-old singer is convinced that there is a spooky presence spooking her at her home and the apparent apparition is making her scared to go to bed in the dark.
Admitting she “absolutely” believes in the supernatural, the ‘Say You Love Me’ hitmaker told Stylist magazine: “Coincidence doesn’t explain enough. Basically, I’m scared of the dark and very worried that there’s a ghost in my house.”
Due to her belief in an afterlife, Jessie isn’t scared of dying or what happens next but is more focused on “the burden of grief” that her loved ones will face when she is passed away.
She said: “I’m more scared about who I leave behind, the burden of grief. My mum says she wants everyone sobbing and pounding the coffin at her funeral and I want something similar.”
In the interview, Jessie also gushed about the two greatest loves of her life; her two-year-old daughter, whom she raises with her husband Sam Burrows and food.
She said: “Obviously my daughter [is the love of my life] but also food. It never lets me down. Apart from when I recently had a bad Burger King Whopper on the M1. It promised so much but didn’t pack enough punch.”
She also added that she loves: “Haagen-Dazs pralines and cream with some double cream.”
The musician also revealed that her love affair with food is so intense it has even caused her to tell white lies.
She confessed: “I told my Ayurvedic doctor that I hadn’t eaten any gluten, when I had a slice of pizza. It was a thin slice though so it doesn’t really count.”

Coronation Streets have WhatsApp group for gym motivation

OHMYGOSSIP — Brooke Vincent and her ‘Coronation Street’ co-stars have a Whats App group to “motivate” each other into going to the gym.
The 26-year-old actress – who plays Sophie Webster on the ITV soap – works out with some of her fellow cobbles residents, and they like to arrange gym meet ups together by sending messages on the chat medium.
She said: “Fitness is a big part of my life. I go to the gym, Ultimate Performance in Manchester, with a few of the girls I work with on ‘Corrie’.
“We WhatsApp each other and have a group chat to motivate ourselves and meet there for an hour’s workout.”
Brooke has been busy of late on set shooting her on-screen mum Sally Webster’s (Sally Dynevor) trial, but she still makes time to see her boyfriend, pro footballer Kean Bryan.
She said: “There’s lots on at ‘Corrie’ right now with my screen mum Sally’s trial, so I’ve been busy.
“After I leave the studios, I go home – I still live with my parents – and catch up with my boyfriend.”
Brooke shed a stone when she competed on ‘Dancing on Ice’ earlier this year – on which she finished second – and admits the whole process had a “lasting impact” on her lifestyle.
Writing a guest column for Closer magazine, she added: “‘Dancing on Ice’ really did make a long-lasting impact on me and my lifestyle.
“I’ve been a lot more productive since the show – when I finished it, I didn’t know what to do with myself and my extra energy.
“I was like, ‘Let’s get a dog! Let’s move house! Let’s re-decorate!’
“The show completely changed my outlook on life. It made me realise you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.”
Brooke’s comments come after she admitted her body has changed slightly since the show, as she realised when she recently sneezed and her flies flew down.
She said: “I had Sophie Webster’s jeans on the other day and I sneezed and my flies flew down, so maybe a little bit.”

Rita Ora uses cold face rollers as part of her beauty regime

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora uses cold face rollers as part of her beauty regime.
The 27-year-old singer has admitted that she keeps rollers in the fridge to soothe her face as part of her skincare routine, and best friend Cara Delevingne agrees that the secret to glowing skin is to use something cold such as ice or cooling gel.
When asked on ‘This Morning’ about their beauty hacks, Cara said: “Ice, ice, baby. Maybe a cooling gel.”
Rita continued: “Anything cold really helps me… I put things in the fridge like these [face] rollers that I’ve got and I roll my face sometimes and it really really helps. And if you don’t have that, maybe use a spoon or something, those work too.”
Cara also revealed that she thinks it’s important to “let your skin breathe” by not wearing make-up everyday – and the ‘Anywhere’ hitmaker agreed that it is vital to remove your make-up and cleanse your face everyday.
Cara said: “When you’re used to wearing makeup a lot, and suddenly you’re like ‘wow’ and suddenly I don’t recognise myself, so I think it’s important for people to take days when they just don’t wear it.
“Because it’s important to let your skin breathe, but also, that’s just who you are and that’s beautiful enough as it is… it’s nice to wear makeup but it’s also nice to not.”
Rita added: “I always wash my face no matter what time it is in the night that I get home. I always take all my makeup off and moisturise – extremely intensely.
“Every sort of oil I can possibly find, I just put on my face. I’m like [shouting to Cara], ‘One second, I’ve just got a mask on’ and Cara’s like, ‘Again?'”.

Behati Prinsloo on why Victoria’s Secret is so special

OHMYGOSSIP — Behati Prinsloo doesn’t think the Victoria’s Secret Show can be compared to any other fashion event.
The 30-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel is making her comeback to the runway after missing the last two shows to have her children – seven-month-old Gio Grace and two-year-old Dusty Rose – and has revealed why the iconic event is so important to those who take part.
In an interview with Elle, she said: “It’s a completely different event. You can’t compare it to any other show.
“You can’t really call it a fashion show because it’s a performance. It’s like when you go to a concert and watch everyone performing and you just want to rock out.
“It also allows you to be yourself and bring out your personality. I love that it’s like that. It’s bigger than life. There’s such a small amount of girls who are part of it, and they have such amazing and hardworking reputations.
“I remember when I started with the brand in 2007 how much I looked up to the women. It’s such an amazing place where you want to be as a model. It’s a career goal.”
The brunette beauty also shared her vigorous preparation for the show, which includes intense exercise as well as cutting out her favourite carbohydrate-heavy dishes.
She said: “A typical training day would include cardio and weight training. I would work out about four times a week and then take a couple of days off and eat very clean.
“My body responds well to high protein with veggies. The week prior, I cut out pasta, which is so hard because it’s my favourite.”

Geri Horner caught eating McDonalds topless by Andi Peters

OHMYGOSSIP — Spice Girls star Geri Horner was once caught eating a McDonald’s topless by TV presenter Andi Peters.
The ‘Wannabe’ girl group appeared on Emma Bunton’s Heart Breakfast radio show on Wednesday (07.11.18) to discuss their 2018 reunion tour and during their chat the foursome spilled on the embarrassing moment when Geri was munching a burger with her breasts out by ‘Lorraine’ presenter Andi.
Emma’s co-host Jamie Theakston asked: “Which Spice Girl did Andi Peters walk in on whilst she was eating a McDonald’s topless?”
Mel C answered: “That’s got to be Geri, she’s always got her boobs out, this one.”
Emma then said: “Geri!”
Mel B hilariously interjected: “You are a bit of a nudist, you always have been.”
And Emma joked: “She’s always been a nudist, she’s always got her kit off!”
Admitting her penchant for nudity, Geri confessed: “I’m just comfortable, I don’t see it as, like, nakedness. I’m just comfortable.”
The ‘Mama’ hitmakers – who will be going on tour without fifth member Victoria Beckham – decided to air Geri’s dirty laundry even further when they admitted she wears the biggest bras out of the 90s pop group.
Jamie asked: “Which Spice Girl wore the biggest bras?”
Mel B said: “Geri, Ginger!”
Geri added: “Me, I know, boulder holders, you know, like granny bras. I’m actually Granny Spice!”
Jamie then jokingly asked: “Do you need to reappraise the nicknames for the new tour?”
Prompting Geri to say: “Do you know what, nothing’s changed. I’ve always been granny spice. I like biscuits in my handbag, nothing’s changed.”

Stella Maxwell says VS Show is about female empowerment

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella Maxwell insists the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is promoting female empowerment.
The 28-year-old model has been a VS Angel since 2015 and she doesn’t accept accusations that the lingerie brand’s annual catwalk extravaganza provides young girls and women with an unrealistic body image to young women because she and her fellow models show everything that they do to get in runway shape on their social media accounts.
Speaking to the new digital issue of Glamour UK, she said: “For me, it feels empowering to walk down a runway in my underwear! The message I want to send out is that women are sexy. We have girls from all over the world in the show – it’s just a very sexy and confident role and situation you are lucky to be in. I personally really enjoy the moment of the runway show. I think it’s all about feeling good and looking amazing.”
Stella also thinks that the Angels are showing their fans that exercise and healthy eating is good for your mental health.
She added: “I think every girl has worked really hard and I think you can see that even just through our Instagrams. We show all the exercise we are doing – and the mental health, too. Exercise is great for your mental health! The show is about being really comfortable in your body and it’s about embracing your body. All the hard work we have been doing over months comes to a point where you go, ‘Yes, this is it, this is what I have been working so hard for!’ I think that’s mainly what it is about: it’s about hard work!”
This year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show takes place in New York City on November 8.

Coronation Street’s Cassidy Little feared capture after leg injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Cassidy Little thought he had been captured by the Taliban when he woke up in hospital two weeks after losing his leg.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who has joined the ITV soap as Paralympian Greg Kennedy – tragically had his limb blown off in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province in May 2011 while serving in the Royal Marines, and after spending two weeks in a coma he woke up in a Birmingham hospital and started attacking the medics, thinking the Islamic fundamentalist group had taken him prisoner.
He said: “I remember how incredibly painful it is to be dragged across a field when you’ve got two fractures in your pelvis. I remember being pulled on to a helicopter.
“Then they put me into a coma – and my next memory is waking up two weeks later in Birmingham.
“My instinct was I’d been captured by the Taliban.
“I tried to fight my way out of the ICU. I hit one nurse and put another in a headlock because I had something that I now know is called ‘ICU psychosis’.”
The 37-year-old star – who has four-year-old daughter Allegra with wife Laura, 38 – is “happy” to admit he is on anti-depressants because he still suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
He said: “Do I suffer from aspects of PTSD? Of course.
“I’m happy to admit to the whole world that I’m on anti-depressants.
“My wife Laura noticed two years ago. She had the courage to come to me and say, ‘Something is not right with your behaviour’.”
Cassidy had to “pinch himself” after landing the ‘Corrie’ role – which sees Greg mentor cobbles character Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) after he lost his leg when he was struck down with sepsis – and the war veteran believes the part is “a big deal”.
The former medic – who competed on ‘The People’s Strictly for Comic Relief’ in 2015 opposite pro partner Natalie Lowe – added to The Sun newspaper: “ITV have done a really clever thing.
“They’ve got a one-legged soldier who believes in motivating people to play a one-legged guy motivating someone who has lost his leg. It’s a big deal.”

Without naming anyone, Olivia added: “I was official, but I was waiting for him to say it. But, it wasn’t going to happen. I’m on one side of this party and he’s on the other side, talking to different girls and stuff, and I’m feeling so depressed. I decided to leave early, and then Jamie stops me and he’s like, ‘Where are you going? Is he the reason you’re leaving?’
“He didn’t do anything wrong. I really want him to be my boyfriend, but I don’t think that’s what he wants. I’m just gonna go home.
“He’s [Jamie’s] like, ‘Go home. I’m going to call you later and if you don’t pick up, I’m going to leave you a voicemail!’ ”
The ‘Predator’ star swiftly left the bash and went home and received a “sweet” voicemail from Foxx which she listened too “the next morning” telling her to put herself and her career first rather than some guy.
She added: “The next morning, I got a call from Jamie. He left a voicemail and said, ‘Did you come out here to be somebody’s girlfriend? No! Did you come out here to be somebody’s wife? No! Did you come out here just to date this guy? No! Did you come out here to be an actress? Yes!’
“‘Don’t you ever, let me see you cry about some guy like that ever again! Don’t you ever let some other guy make you feel like that ever again!'”
“It was so sweet. He was just so earnest. He was like, ‘I never want to see you let any man make you feel that small again.”
