The 30-year-old dancehall star will headline the Red Bull Music sound system as part of the annual street celebration in London on Sunday (26.08.18), along with the likes of Mixpak records founder Dre Skull, Maleek Berry, Lisa Mercedez and Trillary Banks.
The special gig is taking place within Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park from 12pm to 7pm.

He said: “I think the Almighty ordained me as a superstar.
“Not everyone is a superstar, and not every musician is a superstar.
“But me, I was always singing and getting attention when I was growing up.
“Being a superstar is an inborn thing – and it was born in me.”
Notting Hill Carnival – which celebrates British black culture – has attracted around a million people each year, since the first event was held in 1966.

Romee Strijd: ‘Victoria’s Secret empowers women’

OHMYGOSSIP — Romee Strijd says the Victoria’s Secret brand empowers women.
The 23-year-old Dutch supermodel is one of the brand’s Angels and says that the lingerie giant encourages women to be body confident and stick together.
Speaking to Elle UK, Romee said: “VS has always been about helping women be their best selves and we [the Angels] have become even more of a girl gang. We really support each other. When we get together, it’s a force to be reckoned with.
When asked what femininity means to her, Romee replied: “It’s about a certain energy. I admire women who are down to earth and comfortable in their own individuality. To me, that’s sexy.”
Earlier this month, fellow VS model and reality star Kendall Jenner, 22, admitted she had to take a break from her catwalk career and was “on the verge of a mental breakdown”.
And Romee revealed how she keeps a healthy mind while holding down her job as a model.
She said: “It’s all down to the people around me. I surround myself with positivity and only work with brands who are supportive and encouraging.
“Laurens, my boyfriend, has always been on the journey with me. He’s from my home country of Holland so he keeps me down to earth.”
Romee also encouraged women to get bra fittings regularly, admitting she was a different size than she thought when she was recently measured.
She said: “I literally just had one! And I’m a different size than I thought. Women’s bodies can change so much so it’s important to get measured every 6 months. It’s also fun to try on new styles. You might be surprised by what suits you.”

Rihanna’s Savage and Fenty to close NYFW

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna will close New York Fashion Week with a Savage and Fenty show.
After taking a season off, the 30-year-old singer is officially returning to the fashion week schedule on Wednesday, September 12, with her line of lingerie and intimate accessories.
‘Savage x Fenty’ will showcase the ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker’s brand new line, which will be immediately available to buy at the brands online retailer once it hits the runway.
Rihanna will follow iconic designer Marc Jacobs at 7.30p.m and it is believed that she will show her range in Brooklyn.
The ‘Work’ star has described her show as an “immersive experience” and there will also be pop-up shops featuring the collection in New York, the Mall of America, and two soon-to-be-announced locations.
Rihanna made a mark on the beauty industry after the launch of her sell-out Fenty Beauty range last year which won over millions of fans due to its diverse range of products to flatter all skin tones.
Earlier this year it was reported that a fashion collaboration between TechStyle – formerly known as JustFab – and the ‘We Found Love’ hitmaker – who previously designed underwear for Emporio Armani and shoes for Puma – has been in the works for over a year, with samples already being produced.
The star loves lingerie, and especially likes to collect underwear when she’s single in the hope of helping her find love again.
She said: “I’m a lingerie collector and half of it I’ve never worn. I just bought it because I love it, and I feel like if I ever wear it, it’ll be for me.
“Half of it I bought when I was single is what I’m trying to say. It gives you hope in a way, doesn’t? One day I’ll wear this.”

Ariana Grande’s ‘love-hate’ relationship with fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande has a “love-hate” relationship with fashion.
The 25-year-old ‘Sweetener’ hitmaker has revealed in an interview with her singer pal , Troye Sivan, 23, that she doesn’t like being out of her “comfort zone” when it comes to outfit choices.
Speaking to PAPER magazine, the pop princess said: “I’m down to mess around and try on things. I love fashion, but I hate it. Like I think it’s really cool and really dope, but then as soon as someone’s trying to put me in something weird I’m like, ‘Alright relax, calm down, this is extra.’
“Like I have my things I love, I have my comfort zone. I think that fashion should be more of a self-expression thing as opposed to a trend thing. To me, when I feel really dope and I have an outfit on that makes me really happy that’s so much better.”
The ‘Dangerous Woman’ chart topper got engaged to ‘Saturday Night Live’ star Pete Davidson, 24, in June after just weeks of dating and she explained that he has been a huge influence on her music.
When asked about Pete, Ariana said: “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I guess the only way it would reflect in my work is like, when I write songs about [Pete]. I have an interlude in my album called ‘Pete Davidson’ because I didn’t know what else to call it.
“I played it for Tyler, the Creator and he was like, ‘I guess that title makes sense because if I wrote a song about how much I loved waffles and syrup I’d call it ‘Waffles and Syrup’. But I don’t think it’s gonna affect my work. He’s really supportive and just a positive thing all around in my life.”

Liam Payne feels ‘fragile’ after split from Cheryl

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne feels “fragile at times” following his split from Cheryl.
The ‘Only Human’ singer and the former One Direction hunk – who have 17-month-old son Bear together – announced they had made the “tough decision” to end their two-year romance last month and, although they’ve had a little more time to come to terms with it, Liam has admitted he’s finding the break up tough.
Speaking on the Official Vodafone Big Top 40, he said: “Yeah, no I’m feeling ok, I’m a bit fragile at times. No I’m alright you know, it’s been ok. Obviously there’s a lot of stuff I’ve still got to sort out with my life but…
“You’re tryna like, you break up and like obviously we’ve broken up and then it was like a couple of days or a couple of weeks before we actually like put the announcement out and that’s the bit when it really hits home I guess but at the same point it’s like breaking up twice like, we already did this once and now I’m having to go through all of that again just because…”
The 24-year-old singer has also hinted that he wasn’t the one who initiated the split as he has admitted the decision to separate was “unexpected.”
He explained: “I didn’t really expect any of this obviously and it’s difficult. I think sometimes people need to remember that behind all those statements and things there are actually people who are going through the same sort of stuff that you go through whether they’re famous, rich or whatever they are, it doesn’t matter.”
Although Liam has thrown himself into his music since splitting from the 35-year-old pop star, his emotions have affected his long-awaited debut solo album.
He said recently: “I have enough songs for it and was ready to put it out.
“But I kind of feel like some of the songs I’m not ready to put out right now with the way I’m feeling. I don’t know.
“To be honest with you, life’s took a little bit of a different turn as of late, so I’m kind of going with that turn and being honest with my feelings and stuff.”
To hear more from Liam, tune into The Official Vodafone Big Top 40, on Sunday (26.08.18) from 4pm – 7pm, on air and on digital radio across 120 radio stations and online at bigtop40.com.

Emmerdale’s Robron wedding confirmed for October

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Miller has confirmed Emmerdale’s Robron wedding will take place in October.
The 27-year-old actor’s alter-ego Aaron Dingle is set to tie the knot to Ryan Hawley’s character Robert Sugden after they popped the question to each other at the same time at the end of July, and Danny has revealed the pair are set for an autumn nuptials.
In a video posted on the ‘Emmerdale’ Facebook page, he said: “Good afternoon to all you Emmerdale fans, Danny Miller here.
“I’m just in the Emmerdale village and we’re filming something very special, let me show you…”
But the star, who was dressed in his wedding suit, was playing a prank on fans, and refused to show them any footage of his alter-ego’s big day.
He added: “Ah got you. You’ll have to wait until October.”
‘Emmerdale’ also revealed filming for the ceremony is underway, taking to their official Twitter account to share a picture of the order of service.
The caption simply read: “#RobronWedding #Emmerdale”
Robert and Aaron – dubbed Robron by ‘Emmerdale’ super-fans – have had an on/off relationship over the years, and Danny admitted in February he was hoping people would “stop having a go” at him after the characters reunited.
He said: “I’m expecting my Twitter feed to calm down and for everyone to stop having a go at me for not being with Robert.
“I think there will be lots of love hearts … it’s a nice episode and they can get back to where they were before. Aaron is trying to get past the whole Seb thing and, if anything, try to be there for Robert and the baby.”

Release date pushed back for Sir Elton John’s Rocketman

OHMYGOSSIP — The release date for the Sir Elton John biopic ‘Rocketman’ has been pushed back.
Paramount Pictures has announced the musical movie will now hit cinemas on May 31, 2019, two weeks after its original release date of May 17.
Taron Egerton, 28, is portraying the legendary British rocker in the movie which will focus on Elton’s transition from his time at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a global superstar, which included his hugely successful partnership with Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell).
Bryce Dallas Howard is to play Elton’s mother in the biopic, which also features Richard Madden and Gemma Jones.
Dexter Fletcher is directing the film from a script by Lee Hall and Elton, 71, is producing with Marv Films and Matthew Vaughn alongside the singer’s Rocket Pictures partner and husband David Furnish.
Taron previously admitted he was relishing the challenge of playing the iconic musician.
The actor – who starred in ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ – also confirmed he’ll be performing some of Elton’s best-known hits during the course of the film.
Speaking in 2017, he shared: “I’m going to be playing Elton John in a musical. I’m really excited to talk about it. It’s something that I’ve been so, so excited about.
“Elton’s production company and Matthew Vaughn’s production company – who made ‘Kingsman’ – are planning a musical, fantasy, not quite biopic, about the early years of Elton John. It’s going to feature his songs and I’m going to do the old acting and singing.”
Taron added that the film would be the “world’s first R-rated musical”.
He said: “As far as I’m aware the plan is that it will be the world’s first R-rated musical. It’s going to be very unabashed in its depiction of him, I think.”
Revealing how he has been preparing to sing for the real-life role, Taron added: “I’m going to do it all. I’m going to do it on set as well. We’re going to use a variety of techniques but I will always be singing on set. No miming. I’m just not interested in doing it that way.”

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott start marriage counselling

OHMYGOSSIP — Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have started marriage counselling.
The 46-year-old reality TV star’s relationship has been the hot topic of conversation since the police were called to the Woodland Hills home she shares with her husband Dean, with whom she has kids Liam, 11, Stella, 10, Hattie, six, Finn, five, and Beau, 16 months, following a “domestic” but “non violent” incident a few months ago.
But the couple – who got married in 2006 – are determined to make things work between them for their children so have reportedly started therapy together.
A source told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Tori and Dean are very much in love and have dedicated themselves to improving their marriage. They built a family together and plan on raising their kids as a team. They realised things got completely out of hand when their blowout fights became very public. As painful as that period has been in their life, it was also very eye-opening for them.”
Back in March, Dean reportedly called the police on Tori because he was convinced she was suffering from a “mental illness” and was concerned about her well-being.
An insider said at the time: “Tori and Dean see Tori’s experience as a nervous breakthrough rather than a nervous breakdown, because it led them back to the right path and a healthier life together.
“They both looked at what they were giving up by losing one another, and were willing and ready to do what it takes to make their relationship work.
“They realised that most of their stress stemmed from their money issues. They’re now working closely with an accountant to help fix their financial situation.
“They’ve since made some big changes. Their family dynamic is completely differenT. Tori loves Dean and wants him to have success. She also wants her mother to be happy. She’s relied on her mother for help and her mother has always felt Dean needed to contribute. So this is truly a win-win situation.”

Dave Davies announces new record of unreleased solo material

OHMYGOSSIP — The Kinks’ Dave Davies has announced a new record containing unreleased solo material.
The ‘Death of a Clown’ songwriter will drop the collection of songs made between 1971 and 1979 on the LP ‘Decade’ on October 12, via Red River Entertainment/Green Amp.
The lead single ‘Cradle to the Grave’ is out now.
Dave, 71, said: “I am so pleased that after all this time these tracks are being released to see the light of day.
“These songs have been silently nagging at me to be recognised all these years. At last I can proudly present this album ‘Decade’ to the world.”
The ‘You Really Got Me’ guitarist’s last solo album was 2014’s ‘Rippin’ Up Time’.
However, ‘Decade’ acts as a sister record to 2011’s ‘Hidden Treasures’, which featured tracks penned by Dave in the 1960s.
The songs on the new record were swept under the rug when they were recorded in the 70s, because they “had no apparent place” on the concept records Dave’s brother, Sir Ray Davies, was making for the group, so instead they were kept “under beds, in attics, in storage”, until Dave’s son Daniel Davies stumbled upon them.
He added: “We were busy, and we were touring.
“The Kinks were very vibrant that whole period of time.
“It wasn’t really until the end of the ’70s that I started to really take my writing seriously.
“I should have done it anyway – because what’s ‘serious’ and ‘not serious’? Just get stuff out, you know?”
The brothers – who have feuded throughout their lives – recently announced the 50th anniversary edition of ‘The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society’.
The iconic rock group’s seminal 1968 record – which was made in “difficult circumstances” when they were on the “verge of disintegration” – has been turned into a five-CD boxset to mark the five-decade milestone, and is being released on October 26 via BMG.
Meanwhile, Dave recently insisted he and his rival brother still need to “iron out a few” kinks before working together again.
The latter recently went on a national news channel to announce that the iconic rock ‘n’ roll band had been back in the studio for the first time in 25 years, but Dave admitted it’s not entirely true as they’d only discussed the prospect and need to argue out their creative differences first.
He spilled: “I thought, ‘What is Ray bulls***ing about now?'”
However, he added: “We’ve been talking about maybe trying to work on new Kinks material.
“I said, ‘We shouldn’t go public yet because we’ve got to iron out a few things.’
“He said, ‘Yeah.’ Of course, he left and the next thing he’s on TV saying we’re doing it. Typical Ray.”

Blake Lively’s ‘extra’ style

OHMYGOSSIP — Blake Lively knows her style is “extra”.
The 30-year-old actress has been wowing fans with a variety of outfits while on the promotional trail for her new film ‘A Simple Favour’ and she admitted she can be a little over the top with some of her looks.
The blonde beauty posted a photo of herself sporting a Bottega Veneta shorts suit, complete with clashing pints, a neck broach, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and a matching gem encrusted purple box bag.
She wrote: “Good thing I’m not asked to design school uniforms… they would be very EXTRA.”
Blake also posted a photo of her hands covered in huge purple jewel-encrusted rings against her power suit.
She wrote: “When you want to wear ALLL the @lorraineschwartz earrings so you put the rest on your jacket and hope she doesn’t kill you…”
The star previously admitted she doesn’t use a stylist because she has a “big ego” and loves the creative aspect of putting together her own looks as it’s so different to her normal work.
Asked why she doesn’t have a stylist, she said: “Probably because I have control issues and a big ego – that’s probably the honest answer.
“I just like it. I love design and I love fashion and it’s a way to be creative. In my job I get to be creative, but it’s over a period of time and so many other people are involved, whereas this is a beginning, middle and end, and I get to be creative and there’s an end date in the near future.
“It’s the same reason why I like doing my friends’ hair and make-up or cooking – you get to be creative and finish it. Whereas with my job you do it and then two years later it’s finished. It probably goes back to the control issues; it’s like, ‘Ok I did it, I completed it, it’s done!'”
Blake has admitted that putting together her outfits takes “a lot of work” but has an assistant to help her with the trickier aspect of asking designers for items.
She said: “It’s a lot of work – I mean, it’s not hard in that we all dress ourselves every morning. So once you have the clothes, you just pick out what to wear like any other human being does. But it’s easier because you have access to clothes and so it’s not that hard.
“The hard part is going through all the fashion shows and screenshotting all the looks you like and calling them in. I have an assistant who helps in calling in the looks. But a lot of it is I have relationships with the designers.”

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was obsessed with Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was obsessed with ‘Love Island’.
The 31-year-old supermodel – who has walked the runways for some of the world’s biggest fashion houses, including Dolce and Gabbana, Victoria’s Secret and Givenchy – couldn’t get enough of the ITV2 dating show, and she even downloaded a new app so she didn’t miss a single episode when she was at home in Los Angeles.
And Rosie was a huge fan of the eventual winning couple Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer – the daughter of British actor Danny Dyer.
Speaking to PorterEdit about her love of the series, she said: “I downloaded Hulu specifically for it. I was obsessed with Jack and Dani.”
‘Love Island’ will be back next year and the finale of the last series pulled in the highest ITV2 viewing figures of all time, with 3.6 million viewers tuning in overnight to see Jack and Dani scoop the £50,000 prize money over second placed Laura Anderson and Paul Knops, third placed Josh Denzel and Kaz Crossley and fourth placed Megan Barton Hanson and Wes Nelson.
Rosie has been loved up with ‘The Meg’ actor Jason Statham for many years and the engaged couple have 14-month-old son Jack together.
The fashion superstar-and-actress admits motherhood has had a profound effect on her life and career and she is more choosy about what jobs she will take on now.
Rosie said: “Being photographed [has] become the least fulfilling part of what I do because I’ve done it for so many years. If [shoots aren’t] a collaborative process then I’m not really interested, because I don’t want to feel like I did for the first 10 years of my career, which is that I was having stuff done to me.”

Dr. Alex George admits Love Island was challenging

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. Alex George has admitted that starring on ‘Love Island’ took him completely out of his “comfort zone”.
The 27-year-old medic – who is originally from Carmarthen, Wales – has opened up on his time on the ITV2 dating show and he says looking for romance in the Majorca villa was more challenging then working on the frontline at Lewisham Hospital’s A&E department.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph newspaper, he said: “Working in A&E, I dealt with high pressure situations. But ‘Love Island’ was so far out of my comfort zone. At the start, my confidence was broken down and I had to find the strength to come back from that, and you know, when you have to get dressed as a fireman and go down on a pole…”
Alex was able to secure the time off his job to appear on the show because he worked at the University Hospital Lewisham in South East London on a zero hours contract, and bosses agreed to leave his position open so he could come back to it.
Despite being coupled up with Alexandra Cane, 27, Alex broke off their short romance before the final because he didn’t want to “feel fake” as he just didn’t have strong feelings for her and he is proud that he was honest on the show.
Speaking about makeup artist Alexandra, he said: “I was 100 per cent honest, but I’m human and I don’t always do the right thing. I could have stayed with Alexandra and got to the final, but that would have felt fake.”
Alex has now signed up to be the guest health editor on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ and he can’t wait to get started.
Confirming his involvement on ‘GMB’ earlier on Friday (24.08.18), Alex said: “Next week Dr. Hilary is away, the fantastic Dr. Hilary, so I’m very excited to say that I’m going to be stepping into his very big shoes for the week, and doing my very best. I’m really excited!”

Mollie King reveals top cook in The Saturdays

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie King has revealed that Rochelle Humes is the best cook in The Saturdays.
The girl group may be on a hiatus but the members – which also includes Frankie Bridge, Una Healy and Vanessa White – still hang out regularly together and Mollie, 31, admits when it comes to kitchen skills no one can match Rochelle, 29.
Speaking during a cooking segment on ‘This Morning’ – which co-hosted with Mark Wright – Mollie spilled: “Oh by far I would say Rochelle is the best cook. Although, Vanessa recently is coming out with a few dishes you wouldn’t expect and she’s very relaxed about it. She’s like, ‘Oh, I’ve just got this ready.’ And you think how have you done that girl?!’
Although Rochelle and Vanessa are talented amateur chefs, the ‘What About Us’ hitmakers are not all equally as skilled in the kitchen, and Mollie admits she’s a disaster in the kitchen.
She said: “I’m a terrible, terrible cook.”
Mollie and Mark, 31, got to try chef Jack Stein’s fish tacos on the daytime show and as they chowed down on the Mexican-British fusion food, the former ‘TOWIE’ star revealed his wife Michelle Keegan has some serious cooking skills.
Mark said: “This is one compliment I’m going to give, my wife is an incredible cook. She makes this incredible Spanish prawns pil pil with garlic and chilli.”
Sharing how his life in Los Angeles has affected his palette, Mark added: “One of the positives of living in LA, which I have for the past year, is tacos are everywhere because it’s a very Mexican culture over there. Everyone just eats tacos so now I’ve just got into them.”

Penny Lancaster doesn’t tolerate Rod’s swearing

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Penny Lancaster tells her husband Sir Rod Stewart off when he swears at her.
The 73-year-old rocker recently admitted he sometimes tells his 47-year-old wife to “eff off” and Penny said she spoke to him about how unacceptable that language is and told him not to use it when he talks to her.
Rod said in a recent interview: “There is one thing that upsets her, and I’m always apologising for it. I’m so ashamed but I sometimes tell her to ‘eff off’.
“It’s horrible, I dread it coming out. She goes mad. I don’t know what it is but I’ve always done it. I’ve told my brother to eff off too – of course I don’t mean it but it’s not knowing what to say. I get frustrated.”
And speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Friday (24.08.18), Penny said: “It’s not acceptable and no woman should have to deal with that. I actually brought it up recently. I said, ‘Darling, I just have to express that I think you’re really going to have to work on how you express yourself on occasions.’ Saying it to me privately is not acceptable and saying it when other people can hear it is even worse.
“It happened very, very recently and because we only spoke about it three weeks ago, it was clearly on his mind when he did that interview. I haven’t seen him since and I suppose it’s the biggest apology you can accept is when they make it that public and put it in an interview. So, I accept your apology Rod.”
Whilst Penny finds his foul moth upsetting, she insisted that Rod swearing at her was not a regular occurrence.
She revealed: “In the 20 years we’ve been together, it’s less than I can count on one hand. Nine times out of 10 he doesn’t say it, he’s an absolute gentleman and he’s loving and caring and romantic but he just has this bad habit. When he gets frustrated and can’t use the vocabulary I know he has, he slips into a rude word. He always says sorry straight after. The moment he has said that word he winces and I don’t even have to say anything.”
Penny’s fellow panellists praised her for standing up to the ‘Maggie May’ singer, with Gloria Hunniford, 78, saying: “He’s surrounded by yes people all the time and can do what he wants. I think it is great that you as a woman and as his wife can challenge him and backchat him like others wouldn’t.”
Penny agreed, saying: “Our relationship has always been truthful and honest.”

Sia’s dieting obsession

OHMYGOSSIP — Sia has “dieted like crazy” to fit the “stereotype” of a pop star.
The ‘Cheap Thrills’ hitmaker has admitted she’s struggled with her body image over the years because she’s always felt you have to be thin to be a successful musician, despite her friends telling her size isn’t important in her field.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the 42-year-old songwriter – who suffers from bipolar disorder – revealed that her insecurities at the moment, are: “Um, mostly, ‘Fat f**k, fat f**k, fat f**k. Tree trunk, tree trunk, fat f**k, fat f**k, tree trunk, tree trunk, loser, loser, fat f**k.”
She added: “I have dieted like crazy over the last 10 years. Trying to fit into the stereotype of, like, ‘Hot pop star.’ Somebody did say, ‘You don’t have to be a model. You’re actually an artist … It literally doesn’t matter what you look like.'”
The ‘Flames’ singer – who dated filmmaker Erik Lang for two weeks before they got engaged in 2014, but divorcing just two years later – also opened up about what it’s like using dating apps like Tinder in her 40s, and how she is only now learning the art of “intimacy” because dating in her home country of Australia is very casual.
She admitted: “I went on a couple of dates, and they were nice.
“It was very funny, and it was great practice. I’m trying to practice intimacy. ‘Cause we don’t date in Australia. We just get together.”
Sia – whose full name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler – likes to give potential suitors a few chances before deciding whether they are right for her.
She explained: “I probably go on two or three dates before I say, ‘Hmm, I don’t think this is my person.’ It’s an interesting process, dating at 42.”
The singer – who hides her face by wearing oversized hats and wigs when she performs – previously revealed she dislikes being famous, because it makes her “crazy” and is “bad for [her] self-esteem”.
She said: “It literally f**ks with my sanity. I stop feeling authentic because I’m trying to find ways to say the same thing differently. And after a while, you can’t. It becomes bad for my self-esteem.
“People say, ‘Enough of this s**t where she doesn’t show her face’…I’m trying to do this differently, for serenity. And it’s a fun game for me as well. I have nothing to lose. But of course I want to be loved. So when people say, ‘Show your face, you’re not ugly.’ I want to say, ‘I know. I’m not doing it because I think I’m ugly; I’m trying to have some control over my image. And I’m allowed to maintain some modicum of privacy. But also I would like not to be picked apart or for people to observe when I put on ten pounds or take off ten pounds or I have a hair extension out of place or my fake tan is botched. Most people don’t have to be under that pressure, and I’d like to be one of them.”

David Mitchell: ‘Edgy jokes are too risky’

OHMYGOSSIP — David Mitchell says people are too sensitive for edgy jokes.
The ‘Peep Show’ star admitted that he is now more conscious of how his humour will be perceived by people than he used to be and he is less likely to take risks with his material anymore.
He said: “I came into comedy when you could swear and didn’t have to worry about being audited.
“But in the past 10 years people have been quick to take offense- they are less accepting if you cross a certain line.
“So for practical reasons I stay away from edgier jokes more than I have done in the past.”
David and his wife Victoria Coren have a three-year-old daughter together and he believes his child may have contributed to him toning down his humour.
He said: “Having a small child gives you an insight into human vulnerability. The world seems harsh and frightening, I don’t feel strong and young anymore and so I don’t have a taste for darker humour.”
He also admitted he hates when people compare his latest sitcom ‘Upstart Crow’ to ‘Blackadder’.
The 44-year-old comedian is sick of people criticising his show and says comparisons to older shows are one of the most irritating things about the series.
He told The Telegraph: “One of the most annoying responses to the first series was when somebody wrote ‘why the canned laughter? They didn’t need it in ‘Blackadder’.
“Well firstly, it wasn’t canned [it was a live audience] and secondly there was on ‘Blackadder’ but of course I had no comeback to this idiot.”
