London Fashion Week bans fur

OHMYGOSSIP — London Fashion Week will be fur free.
The British Fashion Council (BFC) have announced the shows taking place this month will not feature garments made from animal skins after carrying out a survey asking designers if they were planning to use fur in their presentations.
BFC chief executive Caroline Rush said the move “highlights a trend we have seen over the past few years, with more and more brands deciding to use alternative materials to fur.”
She added: “The fur dialogue is ongoing and the stance of brands such as Burberry, Stella McCartney, Gucci, Yoox Net-A-Porter, Versace and Vivienne Westwood, among others, to look at alternative options to fur will encourage more brands to consider what options are available to them.”
The official announcement came after Burberry announced creative director Riccardo Tisci’s debut show at LFW would be fur-free.
Chief executive Marco Gobbetti said: “I don’t think it is compatible with modern luxury and with the environment in which we live, and Riccardo has a very strong view as well on this.
“It’s part of what Burberry is today.”
The Humane Society International UK have hailed the move and hopes it persuades other major fashion houses to follow suit.
Wendy Higgins, director of international media at the organisation, said: “Most British consumers don’t want anything to do with the cruelty of fur and so this is absolutely the right decision by this quintessentially British brand.
“And as fashion week kicks off in New York, Burberry’s compassionate stance couldn’t have come at a better time, sending a strong message to designers like Prada still using fur, who are looking more and more isolated and outdated by the day.”
Earlier this week, singer Paloma Faith penned an open letter for animal rights group PETA to urge the BFC to introduce a fur-free policy.
Referring to the 2003 ban on fur farming in the UK, she wrote: “The BFC shouldn’t be endorsing a material whose production is deemed so cruel that it is outlawed in the UK.
“With the vast number of cutting-edge, eco-friendly faux furs available on the market today, I’m sure you’ll agree that there’s no longer any excuse for killing animals for their fur.”

Zara Tindall’s husband felt ‘helpless’ during miscarriages

OHMYGOSSIP — Zara Tindall’s husband felt “helpless” when she suffered her two miscarriages.
The 37-year-old royal revealed last year that she and Mike, who have daughters four-year-old Mia and two-month-old Lena together, had tragically lost two of their babies before they reached 24 weeks gestation and she has admitted watching her spouse go through it was unbearable because there was nothing he could do to help her.
Speaking on ‘BBC Breakfast’ on Friday (07.09.18), Zara – the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip – recalled as she held back the tears: “It’s very different for us because we’re carrying the child, but for guys I guess it’s kind of that helpless feeling, which must be incredibly hard and horrible for them. At the end of the day they’ve still lost a child too. Being helpless is horrible isn’t it.. for anyone. So.. you know, he’s… it’s been a horrible road but, you know, actually now we’ve come out the end of it, hopefully it makes you a stronger family.”
Zara and Mike revealed they’d suffered a miscarriage shortly after announcing their pregnancy in November 2016 but they kept the other one a secret because it was “too raw.”
She said recently: “You need to go through a period where you don’t talk about it because it’s too raw. But, as with everything, time’s a great healer. In our case, it was something that was really rare; it was nature saying, ”This one’s not right.’
“I had to go through having the baby because it was so far along.
“[Zara’s brother] Pete was again very much the protective brother; he was very concerned about me, as was Mike.
“Everyone was. It was a time when my family came to the fore and I needed them.”

Russell Brand jokes fatherhood is sending him grey

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Brand’s “exhausting” life as a father-of-two has turned him grey.
The 43-year-old comedian and his wife Laura Gallacher welcomed their second child – whose name is not yet known – into the world earlier this year and, although he’s enjoying raising his two girls, he has joked that the pressure of having two under two has been stressful and turned his dark ‘do a lighter shade.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Friday (07.09.18), Russell – who also has 21-month-old daughter Mabel with Laura – said: “A lot of this greyness is being applied retrospectively, though some of it is as a result of having two daughters so it’s a combination. Do you know what, it’s bliss? Exhausting bliss. Shattering bliss. Knackering, beautiful, glorious bliss. Help me!”
The couple live in the English countryside with their two children and Russell has admitted he has found “peace and serenity” since having a family.
When asked if parenthood had changed him, he replied: “Yes. I think it’s inevitable that it changes you. You can be changed by a yogurt. So parenthood … I’ve got so much peace and serenity in my domestic life that I don’t have the same sort of buccaneer attitude.”
Russell – who was previously wed to pop superstar Katy Perry – couldn’t be happier with the quiet lifestyle he leads these days – even if being a family man is more tiring than going out partying.
He said: “I feel happier living with a person, having to pick up dog poo and change nappies than I ever did being involved in more decadent activity.
“It’s tiring picking up poo and being more ordinary and real, but it’s a relief. It feels connected and purposeful.”

Coronation Street hire 3 new script writers to freshen up soap

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ have hired a hat-trick of new writers to freshen up the soap.
The ITV show has been criticised by several famous names this year who hit out at some of the dark plots – including serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) running riot, and David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) being raped by Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) – but new scribe Alasdair Morrison, who penned funny scripts for ‘Hollyoaks’, is among those to join the programme.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, Samantha Holdsworth has swapped the Yorkshire Dales of ‘Emmerdale’ for the ‘Corrie’ cobbles in an attempt to bring some “Dingle-style antics” to Weatherfield.
Former street favourite Julie Hesmondhalgh’s husband Ian Kershaw – who has played five minor roles on the soap over the years – has also joined the script writing staff.
Julie – whose character Hayley Cropper was killed off in 2014 – recently said: “I still watch ‘Coronation Street’ and my husband Ian Kershaw recently joined the writing team, so I have an infiltrator to make sure that Roy is alright.”
Ian appeared as solicitor Howard Curtis and Weatherfield Gazette reporters Malcolm Bradford and Duncan Stott in the show in the 90s.
And in the early 00s he played yet more journalists, Mick Crompton in 2001, and Ian Thompson in the same year, and again in 2002.
Paul O’Grady and Sir Michael Parkinson are among the big names to have criticised ‘Corrie’ this year.
‘Love of Dogs’ presenter Paul compared the Manchester soap to warn-torn Syria, and fellow TV presenter Michael blasted the show for its violent and “gruesome” storylines.
He said: “I never imagined I would recoil from watching ‘Coronation Street’, but the storyline of the kidnapping and torture of Andy and Vinny and their brutal murder by Pat Phelan had little to do with that gentle, funny reminder of life in the North Country I discovered and so admired in the early 1960s when I joined Granada Television.”

Jodie Whittaker will leave UK when Doctor Who airs

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker is planning to leave the country when ‘Doctor Who’ airs.
The 36-year-old actress claims she’s heading off on holiday when her first episode in the lead role of the sci-fi saga hit screens on October 7 so she doesn’t have to worry about what people say about her performance as the first female Doctor.
She told Britain’s Marie Claire magazine: “[I’ll be] somewhere far away, so I don’t watch it in the same time zone.
“I’ll be turning my phone off and hoping for the best!”
Though she is the first female Doctor, Jodie insists her gender doesn’t really matter because the TIme Lord is an alien being.
She explained: “This job celebrates change more than any other role – you have a physical regeneration, so casting [a woman] supports that story and doesn’t go against the rules of the show in any way.
“I’m playing a Time Lord who’s essentially an alien and inhabits different bodies and this one is female.
“The best thing for me though is that, for the first time in my life, I am not playing a stereotypical woman because as much as I approach everything as an actor, I am continually labelled by the female version of that character.”
The ‘Broadchurch’ actress wasn’t a big fan of the saga when she was growing up, so she felt relieved that programme chiefs didn’t expect her to research into its history too much.
She said: “I feel like I’ve been handed this amazing world and they’ve let me be like a kid in a toy shop and go off with it.
“‘Doctor Who’ wasn’t something that was on TV in my house when I was growing up, so I thought I’d have to cane it before the first audition and watch every single episode.
“Thankfully, Chris [Chibnall, the producer] said, ‘I don’t want you to. I want you to come in with fresh eyes and bring what you would do in this environment.'”

Ethan Hawke worried about Blaze

OHMYGOSSIP — Ethan Hawke was “kept up at night” worrying about his new movie ‘Blaze’.
The 47-year-old actor admits he was nervous about directing the drama movie, which follows the story of songwriter Blaze Foley, but is “really proud” of how it turned out.
He said: “I’m really proud of it, but yeah – it kept me up at night. But part of the DNA of the project was to make a music movie that might fail at some things but wouldn’t fail at being authentic to the music. All the music is recorded live. You know, I got [Kris] Kristofferson in there, the patron saint of actor-singers or actor-artists; I got Alynda Segarra from Hurray for the Riff Raff to play Blaze’s sister.
“I invited Gurf Morlix – who’s an amazing singer-songwriter and, along with Townes, was one of Blaze’s best friends – to be on set all the time, and he worked with Ben on exactly how Blaze picked that song and exactly what the phrasing and the pacing was of each songs. ‘Cause our idea wasn’t to fix the songs – we wanted to defend the songs, play them the way that Blaze would have played them.”
And Ethan treated the movie just as a “workshop” and was so thrilled that they all “came through in an incredibly huge way”.
He added to Vogue magazine: “And having Charlie Sexton play Townes – he’s just incredible in the movie. I met Charlie when I was doing ‘Boyhood’ – and we hung out a bunch, because that movie took years to make, so we got to know each other. And he plays with [Bob] Dylan all the time, and I’d go see him a couple times a year and talk to him – and he’s always studying acting. He just loves acting.
“I mean, when you meet a Texan who’s been playing rock ‘n’ roll who likes talking about Daniel Day-Lewis, you just go, Okay – interesting. And Charlie knew Townes. He knew Blaze. He was a little kid in Austin and saw them and hung around with them. He was a vital part of bringing in the right feeling and the right energy and making sure there was no lying in this film. The idea was just to run a little acting workshop for these incredibly talented musicians and just see what happens. And they all came through in incredibly huge ways.”

Nas fires back at Kelis

OHMYGOSSIP — Nas fired back at Kelis with his own allegations after she accused him of “mental and physical abuse” during their four-year marriage.
The ‘World Is Yours’ rapper has accused the ‘Milkshake’ singer of making “physical violent attacks” on him earlier this year and says their nine-year-old son Knight even “wonders why she treats him the way she does”.
He wrote on Instagram: “After 10 years of keeping my silence during a decade of dealing with very hostile behavior and verbal abuse and even your stepfather holding you back from one of your physical violent Attacks on me right outside your house THIS YEAR while trying to pick up our son while he watched from the window, it was my weekend and you denied me that because your parents were in town. I just went home. This has been my life for my son’s entire life. Even our son wonders why you treat me the way you do? (sic)”
Kelis had previously accused Nas of “abuse” during their marriage and opened up about the “really dark” marital problems they had gone through.
She said: “It was really dark. There was a lot of drinking. There was a lot of mental and physical abuse. I probably would have stayed longer had I not been pregnant [with Knight] because I really did love him and because we were married. We weren’t dating, we were married. Like, this was my person … I’ve waited nine years to say anything. I have never talked about this man, ever. The amount of airing out that I could do, and I’ve chosen not to. Our kids will find out. They’re finding out now. I’ve never painted myself as a saint. Did he hit me? Mmhm. Did I hit him back? Mmhm.”

Christian Siriano says Cardi B is ‘surprisingly’ easy to work with

OHMYGOSSIP — Christian Siriano loved working with Cardi B.
The American fashion designer has revealed that the ‘I Like It’ hitmaker is “surprisingly” easy to work with and that he enjoys styling her as she “has fun with fashion.”
In an interview with Bravo, he said: “Oh my god, I love her so much.
“I love making things for her. She’s a character but also a very real person, which is really nice. She’s actually very easy to work with, surprisingly, and knows what she likes so that also is helpful.
“And she has fun with fashion. She really plays and mixes her look. I have to send her a pair of our new transition glasses because she’s gonna die for them.”
The ‘Project Runway’ winner will be showing his latest collection at New York Fashion Week in spring 2019, and the 32 year old’s line will be “colourful and romantic”.
He said: “It’s like this Italian holiday kind of feel. It’s going to feel very travel, kind of like what you would throw in a suitcase but you have all these places to go.
“It will always be colorful and romantic just because I love that, and powerful, hopefully.”
Christian launched his eponymous collection in 2008, and the designer doesn’t think he can pin point a single favourite piece.
He said: “Oh god, I have no idea. It’s hard, we literally dressed 17 people on Oscar night this past year and every single one of them I really just loved. I thought they all were different but all very special and unique in their own way. So it’s very hard to choose and it also changes and depends on my day. Some days I’m into it, some days I’m not. They all are special, for sure.”

Kendall Jenner doesn’t care about family drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner doesn’t “really care” enough to get involved in family rows.
The 22-year-old model admitted it has been “fun to watch” the rows between her older half-siblings Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian and Kim Kardashian West on the latest series of ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ but admitted she’s able to stay out of the drama because she isn’t interested.
She said: “It’s a lot of drama, which is exciting, but it’s also great that I’m not a part of it, really. So, it’s fun to watch.
“I don’t know how I stay out of it. I guess, I just…I don’t really care.”
And Kendall claimed her siblings don’t think she ever does “anything wrong” but though they’ve reassured her they never talk behind her back, she isn’t convinced.
She told talk show host Jimmy Fallon: “We have family group chats. We have a bunch of them, because all different people are in certain ones.
“I was on a group chat with Khloe and Kourtney the other day and we were talking about something – I don’t think we were talking bad about any of our family members – but we were just talking and I had this realisation.
“I was like, ‘Oh, my God! Do you guys have a group chat about me? Like, do you talk about me in other texts?’ They were like, ‘Kendall, you literally don’t do anything wrong. We don’t have a group chat about you.’ I was like, ‘Yes!’ They don’t have anything bad to say about me, which is cool, I guess…unless they’re lying! They’re probably lying!”
And the brunette beauty admitted she wasn’t taken in because she had to fib to her sisters about the same subject.
She added: “I’m sure they were trying to make me feel better, because I said the same thing about Khloe and Kourtney. They were like, ‘You don’t have one about us?’ I was like, ‘…No.'”

Avril Lavigne ‘accepted death’

OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne “accepted death” during her battle with Lyme disease.
The ‘Complicated’ hitmaker has been through the “worst years” of her life after struggling with the debilitating condition but is thankful she’s making her return to music and will release new single ‘Head Above Water’ on September 19.
She wrote in a note on her website: “I spent the last few years at home sick fighting Lyme Disease. Those were the worst years of my life as I went through both physical and emotional battles…
“Thank you for waiting so patiently as I fought through and still continue to fight, the battle of my lifetime. The first song I am choosing to release is called ‘Head Above Water’.
“It is also the first song I wrote from my bed during one of the scariest moments of my life. I had accepted death and could feel my body shutting down. I felt like I was drowning. Like I was going under water and I just needed to come up for air. Like I was in a river being pulled in a current. Unable to breathe.”
And Avril admitted her struggle had strengthened her Christian faith.
She continued: “Praying to God for Him to help me just keep my head above the water. To help me see through the stormy weather. I grew closer to Him.
“My mother held me. In her arms, I wrote the first song that I am releasing to tell my story.”
The 33-year-old singer – who was previously married to rockers Deryck Whibley and Chad Kroeger – has written and recorded most of her new music either in bed or on her sofa at home and credits the process for helping her stay alive.
She wrote: “I was able to turn that fight into music I’m really proud of. I wrote songs in my bed and on the couch and recorded there mostly as well. Words and lyrics that were so true to my experience came pouring out of me effortlessly.
“Truly… by keeping my spirits up, having goals to reach and a purpose to live for, my music helped to heal me and keep me alive.”
While Avril wants to put her battle with the disease behind her, she’s also keen to raise awareness.
She explained: “I have decided to be truthful about my struggle, open and more vulnerable than ever before. And to be honest, part of me doesn’t want to talk about being sick because I want it to all be behind me, but I know I have to.
“Because not only is it a part of my life, I need to bring awareness to the severity of Lyme Disease. A single bug bite can f**k you up hard.
“People aren’t aware that Lyme must be treated almost immediately. Often if they are aware, they go untreated simply because they can’t get a Lyme diagnosis! And even when they do get a diagnosis, a lot of times they simply can’t afford the treatment.”
Though Avril is keen to get back on stage soon, she’s advised her fans to be “patient” as it could be a slow process.
She wrote: “I want more than ANYTHING to be back up on stage. To be holding my guitars and running around. To sing my heart out and travel around the world to see all of my fans.
“I will do EVERYTHING I can to get back up on stage, to travel, to sing to you, to work again.
“But I have to always listen to my body and keep a healthy balance, so please be patient as we go.
“I wrote and recorded this album and to me this is a victorious moment. A huge accomplishment. I am very proud and thankful to everyone who waited so patiently and lovingly with me to support this process for me.”
The ‘Girlfriend’ hitmaker’s foundation are now working to provide Lyme prevention resources and she’s planning to launch an initiative to educate and help others fighting the disease.

Ariana Grande’s anxiety battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande felt “really really anxious” being in the UK.
The ‘no tears left to cry’ hitmaker has admitted she has been struggling during her most recent trip to the UK, her first since she returned to Manchester for the One Love Manchester concert to raise money for the victims of the terror attack at her concert in north England last year.
When one fan asked Ariana why there were no candids of her during her trip to London, she replied: “sry i’m really really anxious and really exhausted and jus trying to get thru the trip. hope that’s ok. hope you enjoy the performances. my priority is giving u the best performances i’m capable of. i don’t really care ab having my picture taken. love u …
“i’m like really trying [to enjoy myself]. it’s jus been a while since i’ve done this or been this far away from home. this was a huge test. so far not so great hehe. but i’ve loved singing for u and seeing ur faces. that part has been nice. thanks for understanding n for loving me. (sic)”
Ariana broke down in tears while discussing the Manchester bombing recently.
She explained: “Obviously [if you see it] on the news it affects you but not in the same way. You feel bad, you tweet it, you post a picture, you send your condolences, you say something and move on. But then Christmas comes and you’re thinking about it. It’s like … f**k, I’m so sorry. It’s like people are permanently affected by this s**t and it’s just like, perspective. It changes everything, changes your life quite a bit. You want to be more present and follow happy impulses and figure it out later and stay in the moment.”

Chrissy Teigen too tired for sex

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissy Teigen is too “tired” to get intimate with her husband.
The ‘Sports Illustrated’ model insists she still has a “passion” for John Legend but says, following the arrival of their second child, son Miles, they are too worn out to enjoy themselves backstage after one of his concerts.
She told Women’s Health magazine: “If he performs somewhere, and I go, I’m like, ‘Oh he’s sexy.’ It doesn’t matter who you are, even if you’re a sexy R&B crooner or an ex-swimsuit model, you’re just tired. We still have that passion for each other, but are we doing it randomly in a dressing room? No! We’ll get back into it again.”
Meanwhile, Chrissy – who also has two-year-old daughter Luna with John – previously confessed to once having a “jealousy fuelled meltdown” on the set of one of John’s music videos.
She wrote: “Fun fact, I had a jealously-fueled meltdown visiting this video set and made an asshole out of myself to a large group of people. Oh you want to know more, do you? Let me try to remember. 10 years is a long time!
“Ok after a brief refresh with john, I have pieced together small bits of information … it began with our friends (john’s managers and co-writers and a couple others) talking about how BEAAAAAAUUUUTIFUL some of the women were … and they were! But in my mind they not only were talking about it, they were talking about it on purpose to rile me up. Looking back and knowing how well I know them now, THEY WERE DEFINITELY RILING ME UP AND GETTING A KICK OUT OF IT
“I was watching the monitor with all the guys and someone, I can’t remember who, said, “ooooooo look at that girl with john ooooooooo!” so I watched the monitor like a psychotic (tarantula) hawk and in my mind, oh he was in trouble (sic)”

Celebrity Juice filming cancelled after studio blackout

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Celebrity Juice’ had to cancel filming this week after a studio blackout.
The team were hard at work on Thursday (06.09.18) when a power cut meant they had to put a halt to recording the popular ITV comedy panel show hosted by outrageous star Keith Lemon (Leigh Francis).
Both Leigh and co-star Holly Willoughby took to social media to reveal the drama as it unfolded, with the ‘This Morning’ presenter admitting she thought the lights were deliberately turned off because of the heat in the studio.
Speaking on Instagram, she said: “We were filming the show and suddenly everything went to black, and I thought it was just – it was getting a bit hot in the studio so [someone turned] the studio lights off. But that’s not the case at all.”
Meanwhile, Leigh – whose outspoken comic creation Keith hosts the programme – revealed they had got through a bulk of the filming, but hadn’t had time to shoot any games with the guests.
In his own video, he added: “The studio lights are broken, the air con is broken, the power is out in the studio of Celebrity Juice.
“We’ve got all the chat done at the beginning that we normally do, which is cut sporadically into the programme… We haven’t played any games.”
He captioned the clip: “Later this evening at the recording of @celebjuiceofficial we had to cancel the show. Madness!
“Felt like being at school when the radiators break and they send you home. Don’t know what’s gonna happen??? (sic)”

Game of Thrones: Tyrion’s reaction to Jon and Daenerys

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Dinklage has revealed what Tyrion Lannister was thinking in the ‘Game of Thrones’ season seven finale.
At the end of the last series, his character was seen with an ominous look on his face after seeing Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in bed together.
Asked for Tyrion’s thoughts at that moment, the 49-yea-old actor joked: “Keep it down over there, I’m trying to get some sleep! No, ah, it’s complicated…
“A lot of the time with Tyrion, it’s professional and personal. Obviously, he has feelings for Daenerys. He loves her — or thinks he does. She’s awe-inspiring. He’s questioning that because he doesn’t have a good track record for falling in love.”
Although Tyrion doesn’t know the full extent of the drama – the pair don’t yet realise they’re nephew and aunt – he does have other issues with the pairing.
Peter added: “here’s jealousy wrapped up in there. And he loves Jon Snow, too. They’re the two people he has the most in common with, in a way — they’re both outsiders in their own families who have refused to follow the path their family has taken, and hopefully for the better.
“He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Dany getting romantically involved is], because passion and politics don’t mix well. He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous.”
Meanwhile, the highly anticipated eighth and final series of ‘Game of Thrones’ has been delayed in 2019, despite a shorter run of six episodes for the last season.

Joanna Lumley hasn’t let go of Patsy Stone

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Lumley hasn’t let go of her ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ character, Patsy Stone.
The 72-year-old actress played Patsy alongside Jennifer Saunders – who played Edina Monsoon – in the hit series about two outrageous middle aged women, and the star has admitted that her iconic character has been “lurking behind her”.
While appearing on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’, she said: “I have a funny feeling that we made this lovely show last year about going to the Champagne region. Somebody had to! Just Jennifer and I went.
“Of course Edina and Patsy were lurking behind us all the time. Everything we did had them as shadows and we thought ‘We haven’t let go of them yet. They haven’t been buried like old carcasses in their sarcophagy.'”
The star added that sometimes a character is so well-rounded that it’s impossible to move on from them.
She explained: “Some of these people are so beautifully made that when you have invested yourself into them you’ve kind of merged into them and you can’t really shake them off. They come with you.”
The show originally ended in 2004, but returned for an Olympic special in 2012 and on the big screen with ‘Absolutely Fabulous:The Movie’ three years later
The award winning actress revealed that the only way she could return to the show is if her co-star and friend – who wrote the original series – returned to create the script.
She said: “I don’t know. Jennifer Saunders wrote it. It belongs to her. If she says she’ll do more, she shall and if she won’t – and she has said she won’t – then she won’t.”
