OHMYGOSSIP — Meg Ryan is engaged to John Mellencamp.
The 56-year-old actress has been in an on and off relationship with the musician for seven years, but on Thursday (08.11.18) the ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ star took to Instagram to confirm that they have taken the next step in their romance, as they’re now set to get married.
Posting a hand drawn picture of the pair holding hands, Meg simply wrote: “ENGAGED! (sic)”
The couple first started dating in 2011, before breaking up in 2014, getting back together later that year, ending things again in 2015, and reconciling for a final time in 2017.
Before they embarked on the latest chapter of their romance in July last year, 65-year-old John had claimed that Meg “hates” him.
He said in March 2017: “Oh, women hate me, I loved Meg Ryan. She hates me to death. She just doesn’t want anything to do with me. And I can’t blame her.”
The ‘Hurts so Good’ singer also claimed Meg – who is mother to adopted daughter Daisy, 14 – was turned off by his moodiness and childlike fits, but sources blamed the split on the fact they lived apart too much.
When asked “why” the Hollywood actress would hate him, he said: “I think it’s because I’m a child. I throw fits, I gripe, I complain. I’m moody. Every bad thing that a fella can be, that’s me.”
A source said at the time: “She lives in New York and he resides in Indiana. It was the long distance that ultimately was the cause.”
The marriage will mark the second for the ‘When Harry Met Sally’ actress, who previously tied the knot with Dennis Quaid – with whom she has 26-year-old son Jack – in 1991, before getting divorced in 2001.
John, meanwhile, has been married three times before, to Priscilla Esterline, Victoria Granucci, and Elaine Irwin.

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman shows her adopted children “unconditional love”, even though they don’t share the same beliefs.
The 51-year-old actress adopted daughter Isabella, 25, and son Connor, 23, whilst she was married to her first husband Tom Cruise in the 90s, and has said that whilst they both now practice Scientology like their father, she still shows them “tolerance” and “love”.
Nicole – who is a Catholic, and stated after her divorce from Tom in 2001 that she didn’t want her children to be raised as Scientologists – said: “They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them.
“And I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe – that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here.
“I think that’s so important because if that is taken away from a child, to sever that in any child, in any relationship, in any family – I believe it’s wrong. So that’s our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love.”
The ‘Big Little Lies’ star is now married to Keith Urban, with whom she has two biological daughters – Sunday, 10, and Faith, seven – likes to remain “very private” about her family life, but knows she would “give up her life” for any of her children in a heartbeat.
Speaking to Australia’s WHO magazine, she added: “I’m very private about all that. I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.”
Meanwhile, Nicole recently revealed that being married to Hollywood icon Tom – whom she wed in 1990 and divorced in 2001 – gave her a level of protection against sexual harassment during the early stages of her career.
She said: “Being married to Tom Cruise at 22 is something I’m always reluctant to talk about, because I’m married now to the man who is my great love [Keith Urban], and it almost feels disrespectful. That said, I got married very young, but it definitely wasn’t power for me – it was protection.
“I married for love, but being married to an extremely powerful man kept me from being sexually harassed. I would work, but I was still very much cocooned. So when I came out of it at 32, 33, it’s almost like I had to grow up.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mandy Moore went through “dark times” when she divorced Ryan Adams.
The 34-year-old singer and actress and Ryan, 43, ended their seven-year marriage in 2016, and has said that their break-up, coupled with the stall of her acting career which took place a few years prior to their split, led to a very “heavy” and “confusing” time for the star.
She said: “When I think back to that particular time period that we’re talking about … It was heavy. It was dark. It was confusing. It was lonely. There was no room for me. There was no room for me to have anything else in my life.
“I put all the emphasis and pressure on, well, I can just dig myself out of this hole by finding fulfilment strictly from a career perspective.”
Mandy’s career wasn’t halted for long though, as she landed her biggest onscreen acting role as Rebecca Pearson in the NBC family drama ‘This Is Us’ the same year she finalised her divorce from Ryan.
And the actress – who is now engaged to Taylor Goldsmith – says throwing herself into her work allowed “the sun” to come out again.
Speaking to Bustle magazine’s latest digital issue, ‘Evolution’, she said: “Those monumental shifts in your life … they come at a big cost. It wasn’t a decision that I made flippantly. It’s no coincidence to me that once I did that hard work, life opened up in a way that I never could have expected. Once I did that, it was like, the sun came back out again. In every respect I felt like, ‘Oh, now I’m living the life that I’m supposed to be living.'”
Her comments come after she described her marriage as an “unhealthy situation” in an interview published last month.
She said: “I don’t feel guilty for it. I don’t fault myself for it.
“When people said, ‘I’m sorry,’ I was like, ‘No. Sorry would have been had I stayed in a very unhealthy situation.’ I didn’t. I found my way out. And when I did, things opened back up again.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabrielle Union has welcomed a baby girl into the world – after undergoing a secret surrogacy.
The 46-year-old actress and her husband Dwayne Wade are now proud parents of a “miracle baby” girl after secretly hiring a surrogate mother to carry the tot for them.
In a post on Twitter on Thursday (08.11.18), Gabrielle revealed her daughter had been born one day earlier in a note that read: “A LOVELY DAY. We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our little miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl! (sic)”
The post also included some lyrics to the Bill Withers song ‘Lovely Day’, as well as three pictures of the happy couple with their new bundle of joy.
Basketball star Dwayne – who already has Zaire, 16, Zion, 11, and Xavier, four, from previous relationships – posted the same message in a tweet on his own account, alongside the same pictures.
The happy news comes after Gabrielle recently revealed she suffers from adenomyosis – a form of endometriosis which only occurs in the uterus – which has left her infertile and caused her to experience several miscarriages.
She said: “Towards the end of my fertility journey I finally got some answers. Everyone said ‘You’re a career woman, you’ve prioritised your career, you waited too long and now you’re just too old to have a kid – and that’s on you for wanting a career.’ The reality is I actually have adenomyosis.”
Adenomyosis causes the uterus to become enlarged, and sufferers may also be plagued with heavy and painful periods and chronic pelvic pain.
The only cure for the condition is to undergo a hysterectomy, in which the uterus is removed.
The ‘Being Mary Jane’ star added: “The gag is I had it in my early 20s. Instead of diagnosing me, [doctors] were like ‘Oh you have periods that last 9 or 10 days and you’re bleeding through overnight pads … perhaps there’s something more there.’ Every doctor I saw was like let me put you on birth control.
“The pill can mask all kinds of things. It is amazing at preventing pregnancy; not so great with addressing adenomyosis.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Garner loves to sing her children to sleep.
The 46-year-old actress has daughters Violet, 12, and Seraphina, nine, as well as son Samuel, six, with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, and has said that whilst her daughters are getting a little too old for a bedtime cuddle, she still makes sure to sing to her son “every night”.
She said: “I sang to my son last night. I sing putting them to bed every night. My son is the last one little enough to still be sung to, although I will whip it out for the others if I feel like they can use a little soothing.”
And whilst the ‘Peppermint’ actress has a whole catalogue of songs up her sleeve, her most popular request is ‘Rainbow Connection’ from ‘The Muppets Movie’.
She added: “I have sung ‘Rainbow Connection’ probably 16 million times but I definitely mix it up. That one is definitely a staple – if all else fails, ‘Rainbow Connection.'”
Jennifer has a whole night time routine with her brood, and says “there’s no better feeling” than giving her kids a cuddle before bed.
Speaking to People magazine, she said: “We’ve read, the lights are out, he’s folded up on me, there’s a favourite blanket, he’s on my lap and I rock him and sing ‘Rainbow Connection’.
“It’s so soothing. There’s no better feeling than a little kid in your lap while you rock him and sing to him.”
It isn’t just bedtime Jennifer enjoys with her children either, as she previously admitted she loves to go “backyard camping” with her brood, where they sleep out under the stars and cook food on an open fire.
The ‘Camping’ star said: “I’m a big backyard camper. My kids and I camp in the backyard every year. We just spoke this morning about when we’re going to do it.
“The only thing that matters is s’mores. Make whatever you want – hamburgers, eggs over the fire – but s’mores are all they’ll remember. I like camping with a group of girlfriends too.”

OHMYGOSSIP — John Mayer insists he hasn’t “been a d**k in many years”.
The 41-year-old musician is known for his bad boy reputation and often rude persona, but says he’s cleaned up his act in recent years, and now thinks the stereotype that he’s a “d**k” is “a really outdated take” on his personality.
He said: “Some people still say, ‘That guy’s a d**k.’ And I go, ‘Well, any of that data you’re working off of is really old.’ I mean, I can tell you for sure that I haven’t been a d**k in many years. That’s a really outdated take.”
The reputation of the ‘New Light’ singer largely came from comments he made about his sex life – including calling ex Jessica Simpson “sexual napalm” – and he now admits his ruder tendencies were brought on by his belief that he was untouchable.
Speaking to Billboard magazine, he said: “I probably had a run in my life where I wasn’t aware that there was anything I couldn’t have. And it made a monster out of me. And there’s something very freeing about you can’t. And that’s about the right age in your life where you go, ‘Yeah, you can’t.'”
His comments come after he recently gave an interview about his sex life, where he admitted he thinks his body count is “a soft 500”, but says he gets rejected a lot because he’s become “PR poison” for many people.
He said: “I don’t think that people are into the idea of like, ‘I snagged John Mayer.'”
John has been in several high profile relationships with the likes of Jessica, as well as Katy Perry, Jennifer Aniston, and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
He was most recently linked to fellow musician Halsey after the pair exchanged a series of flirtatious messages on social media, but the 24-year-old pop star took to Twitter this week to hit out at anyone suggesting they’re an item, stating it’s possible for two people of the opposite sex to be friends and not be “sleeping together”.
She wrote: “I just had a ground breaking idea. What if…we let female artists…have friends…without assuming that they are sleeping together?

OHMYGOSSIP — Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have reportedly obtained their marriage license.
The couple – who got engaged earlier this year – are set to tie the knot in a traditional Indian ceremony next month, and it seems they’ve taken a big step in making sure they’re ready for the big day, as they’ve picked up their marriage licence.
According to The Blast, Priyanka, 36, and Nick, 26, showed up to the Beverly Hills Courthouse last week and filled out the paperwork to obtain a marriage license, which ties up their legal loose ends and will make their marriage legally official when the time comes.
The pair are set to head to India for their wedding next month, and the license will be filed when they return to the US, making their marriage official in both countries.
Meanwhile, Nick recently admitted he is able to be his “authentic self” when he’s around the ‘Quantico’ star.
He said: “You have to be honest with your other half. That’s where the beauty of a real relationship is, being able to be your authentic self. I have that in my life now.”
And Priyanka hinted she’s looking to start a family with the ‘Jealous’ hitmaker soon.
She said: “I just have a few of my friends who are having babies right now and I’m like, ‘God I need to catch up!'”
A source has also claimed that Priyanka and Nick are ready to tie the knot “‘sooner than later”.
The insider shared: “Priyanka has already been planning the wedding for a couple of months now and is excited to call Nick her husband one day. Priyanka and Nick are on the same page about wanting to get married earlier rather than later, and are telling friends it will most likely be next year.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Demi Lovato is taking a “cautious approach” to her recent exit from rehab.
The 26-year-old singer recently left her treatment centre after a 90-day stint – which followed her hospitalisation from an overdose in July – and sources now say she’s taking every step she can to make sure she stays on the right path, as she still finds “every day a struggle” as she continues to recover.
An insider said: “[Demi] is in a really great place, but she’s doing everything she can to maintain that because she knows every day is a struggle.
“Demi is taking a cautious approach with her recent exit from rehab. She has a sober coach, she is working out and eating healthy, surrounding herself with positive influences … and splits her time in a sober living facility and at home.”
The ‘Sober’ hitmaker has been to rehab for her addiction battles in the past, and so “knows what works for her” when it comes to getting her health back on track.
The source added to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Demi has been down this path before and knows what works for her and what doesn’t, and what has caused her to slip up in the past. She’s trying everything she can to stay on the right path.”
Last month, it was reported that the ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ singer would be keeping up with her treatments through the rest of the year, as she’s said to be “extremely serious” about her sobriety.
An insider said at the time: “Demi is taking her sobriety extremely serious, and knows she has a long road ahead of her. At the end of the day, Demi is doing this for herself. She has to stay sober for her, but every time she has family or friends visit her, it reminds her of all the other important people in her life that she needs to fight for as well.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Tisdale is learning to be “proud” of who she is.
The ‘High School Musical’ star has opened up on her battle with depression and anxiety, and says that whilst she still finds it difficult to talk about sometimes, she’s starting to realise that her imperfections are what make her “beautiful”.
She said: “It’s so easy for people when someone goes, ‘Does anyone have anxiety?’ Everyone at the table will go, ‘Yeah, I do.’ If someone says, ‘Do you have depression?’ Nobody really wants to take about it.
“There are so many times I’m at an event or even just at a social party and I feel like I’m not good enough to be there, and I feel that a lot of us struggle with that.
“I think for the first time, I’m really proud of who I am. I think that when you struggle with those things, instead of being like ‘Oh I hate that stuff,’ I really accept it. I think that’s what makes you beautiful, that you’re not perfect.”
Ashley, 33, is using her latest album ‘Stigma’ to try and break down the stereotypes surrounding mental illness, and says her new music marks the first time she’s been “super vulnerable” on record.
Speaking to People magazine, she said: “This is the first time I’m being super vulnerable. This is me sharing my journey through anxiety and depression. I didn’t know the anxiety symptoms I had in the past while touring. Before, I would freak out before going on stage. That was a panic attack. I had no idea what that was until I started reading about it.
“The reason I wanted to do this album was because I wanted to make someone at home not feel so alone in what they go through. They could look at me and go, ‘We’re all human. We all go through things.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle found it really “fun” working with Prince Charles on music for her wedding.
The Duchess of Sussex tied the knot with Prince Harry at Windsor Castle earlier this year and was grateful to her father-in-law for the input in their musical sections, specifically the classical music.
She said: “We worked quite a lot with the Prince of Wales, who has incredible taste in specifically classical music, so it was really fun to spend some time going through selections with him.”
And the 37-year-old royal – who is expecting a baby with her husband – was thrilled to have the Kingdom Choir perform ‘Stand By Me’ at their wedding and says it was “very meaningful” to have them there.
She added: “There was a song that was very meaningful to us, ‘Stand By Me,’ but we wanted a gospel rendition of it for it to really have a lot of soul.”
And Meghan was thrilled with Harry’s choice of music for the walk down the aisle – ‘Eternal Source of Light Divine’.
Speaking in a recording for the new exhibition ‘A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’, she shared: “It was Harry’s choice entirely and I think a really beautiful piece. I can retrace that entire walk down the aisle listening to it. It really is so special to us, and I think it’s one of those things we’ll treasure forever.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry recently praised his father Prince Charles for agreeing to walk Meghan down the aisle.
He said: “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming and he immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you.’ For him that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that
support, and you know he’s our father so of course he’s gonna be there for us. Just because he’s my father that doesn’t mean I can just sort of go, ‘Okay, that’s all, I’ll take it from here.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry is “obsessed” with turning the lights off in his home.
The 34-year-old royal has admitted he’s always making sure that his cottage home in Kensington Palace doesn’t have too many lights on, and says he inherited the “small habit” from his environmentally conscious father Prince Charles.
Speaking alongside his brother Prince William for the new BBC One documentary ‘Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70’, Harry said: “He’s a stickler for turning lights off. And that’s now something that I’m obsessed with as well.”
To which William added: “I know, I’ve got serious OCD on light switches now, which is terrible.”
Harry’s habit has even been picked up by his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex – who was known as Meghan Markle before marrying the flame-haired royal in May this year – who didn’t understand the quirk before moving in with him.
Speaking to William – who is married to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – Harry said: “Which is insane because actually you know, I don’t know whether your wife doesn’t, my wife certainly goes, ‘Well why turn the lights off? You know its dark’. I go, ‘We only need one light, we don’t need like six.'”
But despite 37-year-old Meghan – who is pregnant with the couple’s first child – not understanding Harry’s obsession, he’s glad his father taught him to be conscious about his energy usage, because it’s a “small habit change” that can make a difference to the world’s carbon footprint.
He added: “And all of a sudden it becomes a habit and those small habit changes he’s making, every single person can do. And I think it’s one of the key lessons that he taught us.”
Meanwhile, Prince Charles recently said he was concerned for the future of his grandchildren – including Harry and Meghan’s unborn tot, as well and William and Catherine’s three children Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince Louis, six months – because of the planet’s growing pollution problem.
Speaking whilst in Ghana, he said: “I am about to have another grandchild actually. I suspect quite a few of you may too have grandchildren or will do soon. It does seem to me insanity if we are going to bequeath this completely polluted, damaged and destroyed world to them. All grandchildren deserve a better future.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Hilary Duff blitzed her placenta into a “delightful smoothie”.
The ‘Lizzie McGuire’ star welcomed her second child, a little girl named Banks Violet Bair, into the world at home on October 25, and has admitted she made the unconventional decision to have her placenta – which is the organ that provides oxygen and nutrients to the baby as it grows – made into a smoothie.
Hilary – who has Banks with her boyfriend Matthew Koma – added berries and fruit juice to the organ before blending it into a beverage, and says the results were “delicious”.
She said: “[It was the] most delightful smoothie I’ve ever had … I haven’t had a smoothie that delightful since I was like 10 years old. It was calorie-filled with juice and fruit and everything delicious.”
And the placenta based treats don’t stop there, as Hilary, 31, has also had the remainder of her organ turned into ice cubes, which she intends on putting in future smoothies.
Some new mothers choose to have their placenta made into pills, but the ‘Younger’ star – who also has six-year-old son Luca with ex-husband Mike Comrie – chose the drinkable form because she’d heard “weird” things about the capsules.
She said: “I heard something weird about the pills. I heard placenta burps are not ideal.”
Many people believe the nutrients in the placenta have health benefits, and it seems Hilary definitely thinks that’s the case, as she says her baby daughter is already “strong”.
Speaking about her tot’s birth during an episode of ‘Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy’ podcast, Hilary said: “They hand her to me and I’m looking at her … babies are like floppy little worms. They just don’t have any control.
“She reaches up both of her arms and like curls into me … reaches up her arms right at my neck like as to give me a hug. I couldn’t believe how strong she was. It was so clearly like a hug … it was amazing. It made me feel like she was like, ‘Good team, mom. We did it.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are “putting the kids first” after their divorce was finalised this week.
The former couple have Violet, 12, Seraphina, nine, and Samuel, six, together, and after their 13-year marriage was officially terminated just days ago, it has now been claimed they are looking ahead to make sure they “keep the communication healthy” between them and continue to co-parent effectively.
A source told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Ben and Jen have been dedicated to making sure their divorce doesn’t affect their kids. They want to keep the communication healthy so that they can make decisions together in the best interest of their children. It’s been wonderful for Jen that Ben has been so present and involved. She wants to do this right and everyone is so incredibly proud of her for rising above the past and putting the kids first.”
Ben and Jennifer, both 46, have agreed to share joint custody of their brood and have planned to meet with a coparenting therapist on a monthly basis for a minimum of six months.
The couple’s relationship was brought to an official close this week when the LA County Superior Court judge signed off on papers that were submitted after a judge had previously dissolved their marriage in October.
The ‘Justice League’ actor and the ‘Peppermint’ star announced they were separating in 2015, and it took them almost two years before they finally filed for divorce with the courts, in which they specified their desire for joint legal and physical custody of their children.
Since their split, they have become known for the slow movement of their divorce case, and earlier this year their divorce came under threat of dismissal after they were deemed to be taking too long for progress with legal action.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West’s home was evacuated after a mass fire broke out in Calabasas, California on Thursday night (08.11.18).
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star took to her Instagram Story to share the scenes from the blaze as she landed, and revealed she and her family had just an hour to pick up a few of their belongings before leaving.
In the first clip, Kim – who has North, five, Saint, two, and nine-month-old daughter Chicago with her ‘All Day’ rapper husband Kanye West – shared a video of her flying in as she witnessed the fire tearing through the city, and wrote: “Pray for Calabasas. Just landed back home and I had one hour to pack up and evacuate our home. Pray everyone is safe.”
She then updated fans, letting them know she was having to leave her home, writing: “They’re evacuating everyone now from all of our homes.”
The 38-year-old reality star then praised the fire services, adding: “Fire fighters are arriving. Thank you for all that you do for us!!! (sic)”
The final clip showed Kim in the car as a police car drove past blasting its siren as they continued the evacuation process.
A little voice, presumably one of Kim’s three children, could be heard at the end of the clip, saying: “We’re safe.”
It was later confirmed on the City of Calabasas Twitter page that they were evacuating everyone in the area, and nearby Hidden Hills and Agoura Hills, where many celebrities reside, as the fire had spread to “over 2,000 acres with 0% containment”.
An update read: “The #Woolsey Fire has grown to over 2,000 acres with 0% containment. @LACoFD has ordered a mandatory evacuation in all areas north of the 101 freeway from Valley Circle to Lindero Cyn. A voluntary evacuation remains in effect for Calabasas areas south of the 101 (sic)”
An hour before she learned of the fire, Kim had shared pictures of her sister Kendall Jenner walking on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway in New York.

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Driver reportedly has a two-year-old son.
The ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ actor and his wife Joanne Tucker – who he married in 2013 – are said to have quietly welcomed their little boy into the world some time ago.
Insiders told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column that family members posted about Joanne’s pregnancy on their private Instagram pages.
One post featured Joanne and her sister, who was pregnant at the same time, and was captioned: “Sisters. Nearly matching everything. #babyshowerx2.(sic)”
And another, from their other sibling, was captioned: “My sisters and new moms.(sic)”
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old actor has given vague references to a child in a number of interviews.
In a video for W magazine in 2017, he said: “I look at my dog — this sounds so absurd — but it’s not. I don’t know if I can love anything more. Like, I have a kid, maybe — and be like, [whatever]. But the dog!”
And in an interview with is ‘Logan Lucky’ co-star Channing Tatum, the pair were talking about mixing martinis when he said: “I don’t have parties, because the world is a sad place and full of anger.”
Channing quipped: “Can you imagine you’re just making martinis for your baby.”
His co-star replied: ” ‘Stop crying. This is my party trick. You’ll have your time. This is me time now.’ ”
The former ‘Girls’ star is fiercely private and though he’s never publicly talked about the child directly, he is said to be a topic of conversation with his close friends.
Adam recently admitted he even worries about ordering soup because of his fame.
He said: “I feel pressure ordering soup! Just because…how will I time this out right so I’m not burping in people’s faces?
“I’m joking but it doesn’t take a lot for me to try and make things in my life meaningful. I’m aware that we don’t have a lot of time in life as people and you want to try and do things that are important to you but try not to take it too seriously. Be available but not be absent.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Martin felt “worthless” after splitting from Gwyneth Paltrow.
The Coldplay frontman and the ‘Iron Man’ actress – who have children Apple, 14, and Moses, 12, together – announced in 2014 they had gone their separate ways after 10 years of marriage and the 41-year-old singer admitted he reached a low point while the group were touring their ‘Mylo Xyloto’ album.
He said: “Through the course of the next album ‘Mylo Xyloto’, it was pretty clear that I was doing well in some parts of my life and really not well in others.
“When we’re on tour, it’s just a little bubble, you become institutionalised. And this is why a lot of frontmen have problems in their personal lives.
“Towards the end of the Mylo tour, it was a very difficult period for about a year or so of ­feeling completely worthless and nothing to anybody.
“I was just like, ‘I’m a mess’, really, because I can’t enjoy the great things around me.
“Then, of course, I went through a break-up with Gwyneth.
“Listen, I’m never going to moan, I’m grateful for everything, but it was pretty touch and go.”
The ‘Fix You’ singer’s bandmates, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion, and their former manager Phil Harvey were extremely concerned for their friend at the time.
Phil admitted: “Your mind can go to the worst case scenario. ‘I was worried about him to the extent that I was just really glad to get a text in the morning just to know he was OK.”
Will said: “It was evident that things were very difficult for Chris and that he was unhappy.
“We sort of felt helpless in a way. Naturally it’s distressing when your friend is going through something so traumatic.”
Despite their global success, Chris – who is now in a relationship with Dakota Johnson – lacks confidence in himself and the band’s musical output.
Speaking in upcoming documentary ‘A Head Full of Dreams’, he said: “I think everything we’ve done is s**t. That’s why I keep trying to do new stuff. But that’s my gut feeling. That’s what fires you up to do the next thing.”
And the ‘Viva La Vida’ hitmaker doesn’t mind when people mock the band.
He said: “I get it. I think it’s important to have figures of ridicule and I don’t mind being one of them.”
