Ray Winstone got to work with the ‘cream’ on King of Thieves

OHMYGOSSIP — Ray Winstone had his passion for acting reignited on ‘King of Thieves’ because he was working with the “cream” of British acting talent.
The 61-year-old actor appears alongside Sir Michael Caine, Jim Broadbent, Tom Courtenay, Charlie Cox, Paul Whitehouse and Sir
Michael Gambon in the crime drama about the 2015 Hatton Garden heist – in which millions of pounds worth of jewellery, valuables and money were stolen from a safe deposit facility in London by a group of elderly men in what was described as the “largest burglary in English legal history”.
Winstone admits working with such a stellar cast gave him a buzz on set that he doesn’t always get when working on a project.
In an interview on UK TV show ‘Lorraine’, he said: “You get to a certain age and it gets a bit late to go and do anything else, I like what I do. Sometimes the job doesn’t always turn out how the way you want it to turn out and it’s not as good as you thought it would be, or maybe you have to do it because you’ve got to pay the rent and it can break your heart. But then you come to a job like this and you just get that buzz again because you’re working with the cream.”
Winstone stars as his childhood friend Danny Jones – who is currently serving a seven-year jail sentence for his part in the robbery – in the movie and he went to visit him in jail before he began filming.
The ‘Sexy Beast’ star admits his old pal was disappointed when he found he was going to bring him to life on the big screen because he would have preferred Brad Pitt to portray him.
Winstone revealed: “I went to school with Danny, I sat next to him at school … I went to prison to visit him before we started filming, not really to learn anything about him because I knew all about anyway, it was just out of respect really to tell him I was going to play the part. He was a bit gutted it wasn’t going to be Brad Pitt. He gave me his blessing, it’s just something you do … It was kind of weird to play him because I don’t look nothing like him, he’s as fit as a butcher’s dog.”

Ryan Thomas won’t commit to Roxanne Pallett meeting

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas won’t commit to meeting Roxanne Pallett in person after she falsely accused him of punching her on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star triumphed on the Channel 5 show after the ex-‘Emmerdale’ actress departed the programme following her accusation – which she admitted she had “got wrong” when she left the show – but he doesn’t want to “dwell on” the incident, and admits meeting her is “not my first priority”.
When asked on Channel 5 show ‘Jeremy Vine’ if he would like to have a cup of tea with Roxanne and draw a line under what happened, he replied: “You know, it’s something now looking forward, it’s not something I want to dwell on. I don’t really want to think about it in the negative. It’s so important to think positive now and try to take the best from this experience, not the bad.”
When asked if he wants to see her again, Ryan replied: “It’s nothing to say I don’t want to see her again. I think she’s got a lot to deal with at the moment and so have I. My priority is family, no offence to Roxanne. It’s not my first priority.”
Ryan – who has nine-year-old daughter Scarlett with ex Tina O’Brien – got emotional as he was shown footage of himself breaking down after Roxanne accused him of punching her, and admitted he felt “very isolated” following her accusation.
He added: “It caught us all by surprise, especially myself. That house, when something like that happens, you become very isolated. For me, personally. But as it unravelled it was just nice to have my fellow housemates support me. That’s how it felt.
“I’ve not seen anything back – it’s just strange.
“You don’t have any idea what’s going on when you’re in there. That’s just a tiny bit of my journey.
“You just want your friends and your loved ones with you when something like that happens.
“People don’t realise what ‘Big Brother’ is. It’s tedious, there’s no element of time, the boredom, everything is heightened in there. Situations are heightened. Evictions and nominations become a horrible thing because you end up having to bitch behind people’s backs.”
Ryan admitted he “appreciates” Roxanne’s apology, and believes she is “suffering enough”.
He said: “I think that Roxanne has been through a lot. ‘Big Brother’ makes headlines and sometimes for the wrong reasons, and I appreciate Roxanne’s apology.
“I think it’s time we move on and look forward and not dwell on the past. Because I think she’s suffering enough, and I don’t want to be a part of that.”
The former ‘Neighbours’ star isn’t sure what the next step in his career is, but admitted he has “a lot” of offers on the table.
He added: “I’ve no idea [what’s next]. I just want to get home first. I’ve not really had time to digest any of it. I haven’t seen the show. There’s a lot on the table.
“I cannot wait to get home, I’m going to pick Scarlett up from school.”

David Thewlis to star in Rare Beasts

OHMYGOSSIP — David Thewlis is set to star in Billie Piper’s directorial debut, ‘Rare Beasts’.
The 55-year-old actor has joined the cast of the upcoming “unromantic comedy”, which is being directed by ‘Doctor Who’ alum Billie Piper, who is also starring in the production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David – who is most known for his role as Remus Lupin in the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise, and recently had a role in season three of ‘Fargo’ – has been cast alongside Leo Bill, Kerry Fox, and Toby Woolf in the movie, which has already started principal photography.
‘Rare Beasts’ sees Billie playing a woman in crisis, who is raising a boy named Larch (Toby) in a female revolution and writing a book about a love that no longer exists.
Billie’s character then meets a troubled man named Peter (Leo), who seeks traditional dynamics and a sense of worth in this current female movement.
Speaking about the project, Billie said: “‘Rare Beasts’ is a cautionary tale. Where do we all go after the fallout between men and women? And who do we really need at the end of it all? I’ve been longing to talk ‘dramatically’ about the world I see around me and ultimately, I’ve always wanted to make my own films. This is a wonderful moment.”
The film is being produced by Vaughan Sivell of Western Edge Pictures, in association with Moffen Media Limited.
Vaughan Sivell, Franki Goodwin, Mike Rattenbury, and Will Kane will executive produce for Western Edge, whilst Paul Higgins will produce for Fields Park, and Josh Varney and Ben Pugh will represent 42.
Billie Piper is also set to executive produce.

Richard Ashcroft: I’m the only solo artist who can support Oasis

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Ashcroft says he’s “the only” act worthy enough of opening for Oasis.
The former Verve frontman supported the Britpop group’s ex-frontman and his pal Liam Gallagher at a string of concerts around the globe this summer, and the ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ hitmaker – who was often nicknamed ‘Captain Rock’ by Noel Gallagher, a reference to his 2010 The United Nations of Sound track – believes his set has the necessary “artillery” that was needed to warm up the ‘Wonderwall’ hitmakers’ fans.
Speaking to Gordon Smart on Radio X about supporting legendary acts like The Rolling Stones, he said: “I’m very lucky that I can walk on the stage before anyone in the world. And that’s the thing: you’ve got to be pretty confident to go on after me. You’ve got to have the artillery, as I call it. and the artillery is your songs.
“If you’ve got 50,000 people and they’re getting further and further inebriated and they want some f***ing tunes, you’d better be delivering.”
Richard – who releases his new solo album ‘Natural Rebel’ on October 19, followed by a mini UK tour – got to open for Oasis in The Verve and as a solo star in the 90s, and he told them himself that he’s the only musician with the same “spirit” to do the job.
He said: “I used to get that with Oasis, I’ve supported Oasis on my own. I’ve said that to them, I reckon I’m the only solo male artist in the world that can walk on before Oasis.
“And be in the spirit of it and also not shrink in those moments, but drink it in and embrace it.
“They know that, because we all have a similar audience. I understand what it’s like to love a band and be passionate and make your way to the front.”
Oasis – who split in 2009 after a backstage bust-up between bitter brothers and bandmates Liam and Noel – dedicated ‘Cast No Shadow’ from their seminal 1995 album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ to Richard.
Fans believe it was in response to the ‘A Song For The Lovers’ singer attributing the title track from The Verve’s album ‘A Northern Soul’ to guitarist Noel that year.
As well as opening for Oasis, the 47-year-old rocker also provided the backing vocals on the band’s song ‘All Around the World’ in 1997 from the LP ‘Be Here Now’.

Bella Hadid reveals how to become an A-list model

OHMYGOSSIP — Bella Hadid’s key to becoming a successful model is just “being yourself”.
The 21-year-old beauty has cemented herself as one of the top models of the moment in recent years, and says the secret to her success is refusing to be “put in a box” and remaining authentic to who she is.
When asked by Teen Vogue what her top tips would be to someone trying their hand at a modelling career, she said: “100% it would be just to be yourself and to not try to be anybody else.
“And it sounds so cliché, but you see girls backstage sometimes that finally, now, after three years of being in the business, can be themselves and show who they really are, and it’s the best part about them. Sometimes people try to get put into a box, and there are no boxes here.”
The brunette beauty believes there’s room in the fashion industry for everyone to succeed, and that as long as you are kind and passionate about modelling it doesn’t matter “if your walk is a little wobbly.”
She said: “It’s about the relationships you make, about the kindness that you spread, and obviously working really hard. You have to have a great mindset to be in this business.
“If anybody wants to try modelling, and if that’s their passion than do it 100%. There’s room for everybody in the business to succeed and I think that people try to pick and choose, but there’s enough room for everybody if you work hard enough, for sure.”
The star most recently stunned at Prabal Gurung’s New York Fashion Week 2018 show on Monday (10.09.18), alongside her siblings Gigi Hadid, 23, and Anwar Hadid, 19.
Bella wore a bright orange and purple vintage style shell jacket with a skimpy neon pink bra underneath, paired with matching pink trousers.
She wrote on Instagram: “Walking @prabalgurung yesterday, You know me so well, P! I love you so dearly! Thank you for a colorful show. (sic)”

Khalid’s Hollister collection drops this week

OHMYGOSSIP — Khalid’s collection for Hollister will launch in stores and online on Thursday (13.09.18).
The 20-year-old singer songwriter has teamed up with clothing store Hollister – which is a division of Abercrombie & Fitch Co. – to release a 13-piece collection which will make its debut in stores and online this week, after first being teased at the Teen Choice Awards last month.
In a press release, Khalid said of the range: “I am so excited to finally reveal my product collaboration with Hollister. It’s been a great experience getting to work with the design team there. Throughout the process, we realised we shared similar ideas and the same overall vision for how the collection would look, so that made it easy and fun. The best part, though, will be to see fans wearing the pieces, styled in their own way.”
The ‘Young Dumb & Broke’ singer worked closely with the Hollister design team on the line, which is heavily influenced by the music and style of the 90s.
Items in the collection include fleece hoodies, long- and short-sleeved jersey tops, jackets and nylon pants.
The range will also feature a dual branded logo, and a graphic that was inspired by Khalid’s quote: “There’s no risk in chasing your dreams.”
According to WWD.com, the collection will have two separate drops – one for fall, which is the one launching this week, and another for holiday.
Kristin Scott, brand president for Hollister, said: “The Khalid for Hollister collection is an assortment that we think all our customers will love, and a campaign that will generate positive conversation among our core demographic.”
The partnership was first revealed at the Teen Choice Awards, when Khalid’s dancers performed wearing items from the collection.

Blake Lively’s has final say on her looks

OHMYGOSSIP — Blake Lively had a lot of say in her hair and make-up for premiere of her new movie ‘A Simple Favor’.
The 31-year-old actress stunned at the premiere of her new thriller on Monday (10.09.18) at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City alongside her husband Ryan Reynolds, where she wore one of her signature Givenchy suits, which she chose herself.
Whilst the ‘Gossip Girl’ star is known for choosing her own clothing, she does seek hair styling from Rod Ortega and make-up from Kristofer Buckle, but they both admit Blake has the final say when it comes to how she looks on the night of the event.
Describing how he came up with her simple hair look in an interview with PeopleStyle, Rod said: “In my whole career, this is a first – working with someone who is only wearing suits.
“It’s different for me artistically, because I’m used to doing big, wavy, full hair on Blake. This forced me to do more simple, relaxed hairstyles, since the silhouettes are much straighter than a flowy dress.
“Blake isn’t in black that often, so I wanted to keep hair nice and sleek. I did a quick braid as a test run, and took a picture to show her what it looked like she said, ‘Oh yeah that’s great,’ after seeing the picture! Because she liked it, we went with it.”
When it came to Blake’s make-up, Kristofer revealed that although the pair had been going for a more natural look while promoting the film – for the premiere they thought they would go for a more glamorous look.
He said: “When I saw what Blake was wearing I thought a prominent eye would be a good choice, and she thought the same.”
“She styles herself so of course she also has opinions about her makeup. She trusts my instincts, and I want her to be comfortable, so we keep an open dialogue while I’m working.”

Adam Lambert: Social media can be ‘worst enemy’

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Lambert has admitted social media can be his “worst enemy”.
The 36-year-old singer insisted it’s vital aspiring stars stay “true” to themselves and though sites such as Twitter and Instagram can be an invaluable promotional tool, it’s important not to focus too much on them or pay attention to comments and messages.
He said: “It’s a tough world out there, but it’s important that you remain true to yourself, otherwise there’s no point in doing it.
“Social media can be your best and worst enemy but you just need to do what you can do. I have learned not to read the replies or the hate.”
Adam shot to fame on ‘American Idol’ in 2009 and though he thinks some reality TV is OK, there are a lot of programmes he believes are just a “waste of time” because they “glorify mediocrity”.
He told Client magazine: “Reality TV isn’t all bad – I came from a reality show in a way, but it was talent based.
“I personally find other reality genres to be a real waste of time – glorifying mediocrity and the mundane.
“It’s really about doing what works for you and understanding who you are and what does work for you, and not getting lost in the noise!”
The ‘Whataya Want From Me’ singer admitted he experienced a “backlash” over his flamboyant persona when he began his career but he thinks there has been a “huge improvement” in the representation of the LGBTQ community in the music industry.
He said: “Obviously there’s still a long way to go, but there is a huge improvement. 10 years ago, there weren’t many openly gay pop artists, and in a lot of ways people weren’t ready and I got backlash when I wasn’t really expecting it – I was just being myself and of course sometimes you do these things to prove a point more than anything.
“Now though, there’s so many pop artists who are proud of their sexuality and the sheer number of us has improved the landscape.”

Nick Carter won’t be charged

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Carter will not face charges after being accused of rape.
Melissa Schuman, 33, claimed back in November that the Backstreet Boys star had forced her into having sex with him at his home in 2003, but six months after she filed a police report against him, Los Angeles authorities have confirmed they won’t be taking further action because the statute of limitations for prosecution expired in 2013.
And Nick feels vindicated that the charges have been dropped and is ready to move on.
His lawyer, Michael Holtz, said in a statement: “Nick has denied these allegations ever since he first learned of them last year, and was confident the district attorney would conclude that there was no basis to pursue charges against him.
“He is happy to put this matter behind him.”
Melissa admitted she was “well aware of the likelihood” that the case wasn’t prosecutable because, though California scrapped its statute of limitations for rape in 2016, they have not made this retroactive but she still obtained “great solace” in knowing her account has been documented by authorities and she hopes to encourage others to speak out.
She said: “It is unfortunate that the law isn’t fully retroactive to accommodate assaults that have happened in the past, regardless of how far back.
“It gives me great solace to know that my testimony is fully documented, investigated and sealed for the future if needed by law enforcement. I gave my statement, as did the other witnesses. Speaking out was the best thing I could have ever done for myself and I hope it inspires others to do the same if it feels right for them.”
Previously, Melissa had alleged in a blog post that Nick performed oral sex on her without her consent and then made her perform a reciprocal act on him.
Following that, Melissa – who was a virgin at the time – then claimed that Nick took her to his bedroom and had sex with her without her consent, with her repeatedly telling the pop star that she was saving herself for marriage.
Shortly after her blog post was published, Nick, 38, issued a statement in which he vehemently denied the allegations, and insisted anything that happened between them which was sexual was consensual.
He said: “I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations. Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally.
“This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”

Vanilla Ice in home row with estranged wife

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanilla Ice’s estranged wife wants him to pay for repairs to her house.
The ‘Ice Ice Baby’ singer officially split from Laura Van Winkle – the mother of his daughters Dusti Rain, 20, and 18-year-old KeeLee Breeze – two years ago and they are currently going through a divorce, but she’s asked a court to order him to fund much-needed maintenance work to the Florida home they used to share because the local Home Owner Association (HOA) are pressuring her over the lack of fence around their pool and a dirty of mildewed roof.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Laura claims the 50-year-old rapper – whose real name is Robert Van Winkle – has dismissed multiple notices to pay by saying he isn’t the homeowner any more, but she insists that isn’t true and she believes he should pay all the costs because he brings home $825,000 a year.
Laura filed for divorce in October 2016 after 16 years of marriage, but insiders claimed at the time they had actually separated long before then.
A source previously said: “He and Laura have actually been separated for a few years now, and she’s just making the split official.”
In 2008, the rapper was arrested for domestic battery after allegedly hitting Laura, but the case was later dropped after she explained to police that her partner had only pushed her.
But that wasn’t the first time the pair have come to blows as the ‘Ridiculous Six’ actor admitted to ripping out Laura’s brunette locks from her head in 2001 but claimed he only did so to prevent his partner from hurtling herself out of his car’s window whilst they were in the midst of a blazing row. He later pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.
Following the incident, he was put on probation and ordered to undergo family therapy sessions.

Disney submits Black Panther for Best Picture Oscar

OHMYGOSSIP — Disney has submitted ‘Black Panther’ for the Best Picture prize at the Academy Awards.
The studio has thrown its support behind the Marvel blockbuster – which proved to be a huge success both at the box office and with fans and critics alike – by putting it forward in every possible category at the Oscars.
On Disney’s official awards page, it’s revealed the company has presented ‘Black Panther’ – which starred Chadwick Boseman a the titular hero – to be considered for a host of technical categories, as well as top trophies including Best Director.
Regarding the news, Nate Moore – Marvel Studios vice president of development and production – told Variety: “A lot of our films, I think very rightfully and hopefully successfully, just feel like pieces of pure escapism.
“This movie attempts to do more. It attempts to make people think about the world that’s around them and celebrate, frankly, a continent, in Africa, that’s often overlooked.
“I don’t think that at any point in the process did we feel like this could be an awards movie. But we did feel like this could have depth in a way that our movies don’t always do.”
News the film could be up for the Best Picture gong comes after the Oscars decided to postpone the controversial idea of the Popular Film category following backlash over what it could mean for movies normally considered for the more prestigious prizes.
Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said: “There has been a wide range of reactions to the introduction of a new award, and we recognize the need for further discussion with our members.
“We have made changes to the Oscars over the years – including this year – and we will continue to evolve while also respecting the incredible legacy of the last 90 years.”

Viola Davis regrets The Help

OHMYGOSSIP — Viola Davis regrets the way the characters in ‘The Help’ were portrayed.
The 53-year-old actress played maid Aibileen Clark in the 2011 period drama, and she admitted while she enjoyed the experience on set, but she wasn’t pleased with the final film.
Responding to fan quetions in the New York Times, she said: “Almost a better question is, have I ever done roles that I’ve regretted? I have, and ‘The Help’ is on that list. But not in terms of the experience and the people involved because they were all great.
“The friendships that I formed are ones that I’m going to have for the rest of my life. I had a great experience with these other actresses, who are extraordinary human beings. And I could not ask for a better collaborator than Tate Taylor.
“I just felt that at the end of the day that it wasn’t the voices of the maids that were heard… I know that if you do a movie where the whole premise is, I want to know what it feels like to work for white people and to bring up children in 1963, I want to hear how you really feel about it. I never heard that in the course of the movie.”
Viola also admitted some of her roles have been challenging for her to portray, including ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ character Annalise Keating, who is much more sexual that the actress is in real life.
She explained: “[She] is tough because I have to go into a realm that is not me. She has a very colorful sexual life. I would not describe myself as being that person.”

The song is the band’s first new music since the 2004 LP ‘Coral Fang’.
The Australian-American punk rockers – who first formed in 1998 – confirmed they were getting back together for the first time since 2006 earlier this year when they announced they were playing Shaky Keens Music Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, in May, and they have since completed a number of comeback shows in the US, whilst they also supported Brody’s rocker husband Josh Homme’s band Queens of the Stone Age at Finsbury Park in June.

The film is directed by Emmett Malloy – who helmed White Stripes’ 2009 tour doc ‘Under Great White Northern Lights’ -and features footage from the ‘Seven Nation Army’ hitmaker’s sold out show at The Anthem venue in Washington D.C.
The first track from the live EP, ‘Connected By Love’ is now available exclusively on Amazon Music or able to listen to by asking, “Alexa, play the new song by Jack White” on Alexa devices.
Meanwhile, Jack recently admitted he got into punk rock by trawling dumpster bins.
The Raconteurs star revealed that it was when he stumbled upon a vinyl copy of Iggy Pop’s band The Stooges’ 1969 self-titled album, which featured the hit song ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’, at one of the dump sites in Detroit, Michigan, that he fell in love with alternative music more.
He recalled: “I found the Stooges’ first album on vinyl in one of those dumpsters – and that really changed my life.
“I recorded ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ on 4-track because of that, and it led me into punk rock in a bigger way.”
Jack also admitted he thinks hip-hop stars have more of a “dangerous edge” than rock stars nowadays.
He said: “Rappers have the dangerous edge of music now – what I would consider the closest thing to that stuff you might not want your parents to know you’re listening to.”
