OHMYGOSSIP — Viola Davis feels “very embarrassed” about her first encounter with Meryl Streep.
The 53-year-old actress worked with the Hollywood icon on the 2008 period drama ‘Doubt’, but Viola still feels a bit uncomfortable when she remembers her behaviour on the film’s set.
Asked what her first day of filming with Meryl was like, Viola told the New York Times newspaper: “Absolutely terrifying, but not because of anything that she was projecting. She could not be any less intimidating. Everything was coming from me, 100 percent.
“It was a rehearsal. We rehearsed it first because it’s based on a play. So I showed up an hour early, and I just stared at the door waiting for her to come in. And I think I probably ran up to her when she first came through the door, which I’m sure she’s used to, but when I look at it in hindsight I’m very embarrassed.”
Meanwhile, Viola recently slammed the race pay gap in Hollywood.
The acclaimed actress is adamant that the only way the problem can be resolved is if there is more diversity at the top of the movie and TV industries.
She said: “We’re not even invited to the table. I go to a lot of women’s events here in Hollywood, and they’re filled with female CEOs, producers and executives, but I’m one of maybe five or six people of colour in the room.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Hawkins felt “weird” watching the start of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this year without Brendan Cole on the team.
The 43-year-old television presenter took part in the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition last year alongside profession partner Brendan, and has said that whilst all of last year’s contestants felt a “twinge” of sadness seeing their dance partners get paired with new stars during the show’s launch over the weekend, she felt “doubly-weird” because Brendan was missing from the group after having been axed from the program.
She said: “I was out and I was looking on Twitter and everyone was talking about how good it looked. And then we’ve got our WhatsApp group from last year and everyone was saying, ‘Oh, look who my partner’s got and look how happy they look.’ So I think everyone’s that twinge that they’re missing out.
“It’s doubly-weird for me because Brendan wasn’t there. But for me it didn’t feel the same not having him there.”
Brendan, 42, was revealed to have been cut from the cast of the show earlier this year, and Charlotte believes it’s a “real shame” he’ll no longer be strutting his stuff on the dance floor.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she said: “He was the one who added spark and he was the one who wasn’t afraid to speak out and he would speak out in my defence when he felt something deserved it.
“I think it’s a real shame and a lot of people have reached out to me and said the same. But it was an amazing show and all the dancers did a phenomenal job.”
This year, Brendan has been replaced by Graziano Di Prima, who has been paired with Capital FM DJ Vick Hope.

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew McConaughey saved his baby son from a charging ram.
The 48-year-old actor was enjoying a picnic with his wife Camila Alves, their little boy Levi, who is now 10, and their pet dog when they came face-to-face with the animal, and the ‘White Boy Rick’ star was forced to throw the tot through the air to protect him.
He recalled: “I got charged by a mountain ram at the edge of the Grand Canyon and had to throw my six-month-old child 15 feet through the air — to my wife — to save him.”
Matthew explained to talk show host Jimmy Fallon that he managed to shoo away his dog, who was growling at the creature, then threw Levi down to Camila, who had managed to quickly escape down the cliff.
He said: “[Camila] had scooted away down the edge, and after getting rid of the dog, I had to launch Levi through the air…
“The dog was the one p***ing the ram off so I had to get rid of the dog [first].”
However, the danger wasn’t over for the ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ actor.
He explained: “I back up to the edge after I got rid of the dog and my son and I grabbed this little branch and I get behind it and it’s this cherry bush and it’s about as big as my pinky and I’m like, ‘This is not gonna save me at all.’
“I squared off and just tried to go as Yoda as I could with this ram and just say, ‘Not me, whatever it is,’ and he was kicking dirt and everything.”
Thankfully, Matthew – who also has Vida, eight, and Livingston, five, with his 36-year-old spouse – was able to scare the ram away and eventually realised why it had been so aggressive.
He said: “This was the alpha… We look over on the other side and his harem were on the other side so were between him and all his ladies and he didn’t want any other male scent on his mountain.
“I was like, ‘Your mountain, sir,’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne “didn’t have a great time” on the final Black Sabbath tour.
The 69-year-old rocker took to the stage with the ‘Paranoid’ hitmakers for the final time last year, and has now said he didn’t enjoy himself of the legendary group’s last shows, because he was so used to being a solo artist.
He said: “I didn’t have a great time. I spent nine or 10 years in Sabbath, but I’d been away from them for over 30 years. With them, I’m just a singer. With me, I get to do what I want to do. I was getting bad vibes from them for being Ozzy. I don’t know, what the fuck else can I be?”
The ‘Crazy Train’ musician is currently on his ‘No More Tours’ tour as a soloist, but says that despite the tour’s name, he isn’t retiring altogether, and is merely putting an end to his constant travelling around the world.
Speaking to the Philadelphia Inquirer, he added: “What I’m stopping is doing what I’m doing now, going around the world all the time. I wish people would understand I’m not retiring. Is it my bad English accent? It’s called the ‘No More Tours’ tour. It doesn’t say ‘No more tours ever.'”
Meanwhile, the ‘Mr. Crowley’ rocker previously insisted he won’t be retiring any time soon, as he plans to keep making music and starring in TV shows with his family – such as ‘Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour’ with his son Jack Osbourne – until he’s dead.
He said: “[My career will end when] a pine lid is being nailed to my box!
“I can’t say it’s a job. I don’t have to get up and do something I don’t particularly like and work for someone I don’t particularly care for just to get a wage packet.
“I work for a couple of hours a night, travel a bit. I have a choice whether to stop or not and I don’t want to.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tanya Franks and Jake Wood “can’t stop laughing” about their ‘EastEnders’ storyline.
The 51-year-old actress and the 46-year-old actor play married couple Rainie and Max Branning in the BBC One soap, and they were shocked when the two were put together for a sham marriage only for their characters to fall for each other.
She said: “We really do get on and I think we were both so surprised by this storyline that it was one of those things where we can’t stop laughing about it.
“We surprised each other, and the chemistry has really worked.
“We work in a similar way and we do our homework together sometimes in the studio, so we’re really having a good time.”
Tanya admits she is “so different” from former drug addict Rainie but she adores her alter-ego, and loves her “spontaneity”.
She added: “I love her. I don’t know if I’d be any good at supporting her in real life, but I love her.
“She will just do things spontaneously that can absolutely ruin everything, but to her that is all that’s important.
“I have to have a certain emotional strength but also a physical strength and a mental strength, and I think diet plays a part in that.
“I’m very careful of what I eat.”
While Max and Rainie only initially got together as part of a deal to help the businessman win custody of his granddaughter Abi, they have fallen for each other – but Tanya hinted there are bad times to come for the pair.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: “There could well be some rocky roads very, very soon.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun thought the star was “going to die” when he was going through a rough patch in 2014.
The 24-year-old singer suffered a string of negative incidents including arrests for assault, driving offences and vandalism between 2013 and 2014, and his manager Scooter – who also manages the likes of Ariana Grande and Carly Rae Jepsen – has now said he used to have a recurring nightmare in which the ‘Sorry’ hitmaker died during one of his escapades.
Scooter said: “There was a time when I would go to sleep almost every night – when he had the money to fly away from me – and I was worried every night that I was going to lose him.
“I thought he was going to die. I thought he was going to sleep one night and that he would have so much crap in his system that he would not wake up the next morning.”
The 37-year old pop manager encouraged the ‘Love Yourself’ singer to take a break from music to focus on his health at the time, but Justin used to “yell at scream” that he wanted to continue his career.
Scooter added: “He used to yell and scream at me, and he wanted to put music out, he wanted to tour, but I thought if he did that, he would die. So, I just refused.”
Now though, Justin – who is now engaged to Hailey Baldwin – has turned his life around, and Scooter insists that it was the star’s own decision to get help.
Speaking on Van Lathan’s ‘The Red Pill Podcast’, he said: “I think he made a conscious choice for himself to change, I think for a year and a half I failed miserably trying to help him, because for year and a half he didn’t change … It wasn’t until one day he woke up and said, ‘Hey I need to talk to you, I don’t want to be that person anymore.’
“[He’s an] extraordinary young man who’s been given an extraordinary life. And he used to complain, and he used to fight it and that’s when he got into a dark place, but when he accepted his responsibility and took a hard look at himself and not what everyone was doing, that’s when he owned it and he got healthy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Beckinsale takes butter with her wherever she travels.
The ‘Love and Friendship’ star is such a huge fan of Kerrygold butter that she has to take it with her wherever she goes as she “finds it quite hard to get a hold of”.
She said: “I find it quite hard to get a hold of. If I’m going from one city to another I’ll put some in my suitcase to make sure I have it. I’m the crazy person traveling with butter.”
And the 45-yerar-old actress likes to include butter in her diet, in moderation, as she feels it improves her skin compared to being on a low-fat diet.
She added to People magazine: “When I did ‘Pearl Harbor’, they had me on a very strict low-fat diet. I remember my mum coming and visiting me and going, ‘You look so old.’ I was 24 and I had lines on my face because I didn’t have enough fat. And so now, I remember very early on meeting a great nutritionist and they said, ‘One day everyone is going to say don’t eat low-fat margarine or they are going to say eat butter or eat olive oil.’ And it did take quite a long time, but I really noticed if I can eat coconut oil and butter and things like that, obviously in moderation, it makes almost an immediate effect on your skin. I don’t think it is a myth. I think you can see the difference in a week or two.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Aguilera wants to record a song with Britney Spears.
The ‘Beautiful’ hitmaker was pitted as the ‘Toxic’ singer’s rival when they began their pop careers in the late 1990s but she thinks things would have been very different if they had had social media to downplay feud claims.
She told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel: “When I was coming up it was very obvious, me and Britney…the considered rivalry thing.
“If we had social media back then, we would have probably done a song together or something and squashed it.”
And asked if she’d still be open to the duet today, she said “Hey, I’m down…if her reps say OK!”
Christina’s comments came a few weeks after she spoke of how “hurt” she felt when she was pitted against Britney and she was portrayed as the “bad girl”.
She said: “It’s hard to hear yourself being called names. I remember being hurt by these commercials on MTV, pitting Britney as the good girl and me as the bad girl. It’s like, if I’m going to be demure and innocent, that’s OK. But if I’m going to just be myself, I’m trouble.”
But the 37-year-old singer has no regrets about her past raunchy image and hopes she was able to “pave the way” for other pop starlets.
She said: “I love the female body, and I think it’s something to be proud of, not something that men should dictate ownership of.
“‘Dirrty’ was extremely controversial at the time, but it would be nothing now.
“I hope I paved the way and helped set the ground rules that women can be any version of themselves they wanna be…and proud of it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Moss felt “pressured” into posing topless as a young model.
The 44-year-old beauty admitted she “did not like it at all” when photographers asked her to take her shirt off for pictures when she was a teenager.
Asked by NBC’s Megyn Kelly if she ever felt pressured into posing topless, she said: “Yes, there was pressure..
“I worked with a woman photographer called Corinne Day, and she always liked me with no top on, and I did not like it at all when I first started.”
One photographer who also took photos of Kate topless was Mario Sorrenti, her former boyfriend and the man behind her famous 1993 Calvin Klein Obsession campaign, but she was “used to it” with him and just got on with the work.
She added: “Mario was my boyfriend, so I was kind of used to it, but I was still always like, ‘Can I just put some clothes on?’
“But that was the job, so I kind of just did it.”
And Kate admitted the thought of it now is “crazy” and there is no way she’d allow her own daughter, 15-year-old Lila Grace – who she has with former partner Jefferson Hack – to pose topless.
Questioned about advice she’d give younger models, she said: “They don’t have to do it if they don’t want to do it.
“I wouldn’t let my daughter do it. I look at her now, and she’s 15, and to think that I was going topless at her age is crazy.”
However, she would support the teenager if she expressed an ambition to follow in her famous footsteps.
She said: “”It’s up to her. I am leaving it up to her. I will support her obviously. I will be her momager! She can, if she wants to. I will support her in anything she wants to do.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Beckinsale was originally set to star in ‘Wonder Woman’.
The 45-year-old actress has admitted that before Gal Gadot became the Princess of the Amazons in the 2017 superhero movie, it was Kate who was supposed to take on the iconic role, under the guidance of original producer Joel Silver, who later dropped out of the project.
When asked if the rumours about her ‘Wonder Woman’ role were true, Kate said: “Yes, there was a period of time, a long time ago, when [producer] Joel Silver was involved with it. But it worked out beautifully. That was a wonderful film that Gal [Gadot] did.”
But Kate has no regrets about not taking on the role, because she doesn’t think she would have made a good movie.
She added: “It would have been a terrible movie based on the script that I read.”
The ‘Underworld’ star says it’s the script and director that get her interested in movie roles, and admits that sometimes smaller indie projects can be more fun than blockbuster hits, as she finds it “scary” to see her face on the side of a bus when she’s landed a starring role.
Speaking to Variety magazine, she said: “It’s the script and the director. I’ve done indie movies where I’m sitting on a piece of folded carpet and it was wonderful. I’ve done great big movies that were the worst misery of my life. It all depends.
“At university, I studied Russian and French. I never studied drama, so I always felt like from the beginning of my career that it was an apprenticeship. That freed me up to try a lot of things. It gave me a lot of latitude. I started out in the indie space. I never anticipated doing one of those heavy-weight, very physical franchise things. It was scary to see myself on movie posters on the side of every single bus.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Wilde reminds her kids constantly that “they won the life lottery”.
The ‘House’ star feels it is important that her children – Otis, four, and Daisy, 23 months, who she shares with her partner Jason Sudeikis – know how lucky they are.
She said: “[I tell them] that they won the life lottery. Everything they have access to is privileged, so they have a responsibility to conserve resources and to be kind, embrace gender equality and understand the value of their education. If we can raise a generation that thinks that way, I really think the world will improve.”
And Olivia is starting by making tiny changes to her kids’ routines.
She told People magazine: “I beg my son to turn off the water when he brushes his teeth. He doesn’t understand – like, ‘Every time I turn on the tap there’s water.’ I have to explain to him how limited the resource is, and that opens the door for broader conversations.”
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old actress previously confessed she wants her daughter to feel “extraordinary and “recognise her specialness”.
She said: “We had a party. There was music, there was dancing, and it’s wonderful to see when your child is old enough to recognise their specialness. To give them a special day allows them to feel extraordinary, which they are, and I want her to feel that way as much as possible … I think about my relationship with my own mother, and I see Daisy, and I am astonished by her every day. I want to raise her to have such a strong foundation that she can handle anything. I won’t be able to protect her from everything, but I can give her the tools to fight for herself.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Only Fools and Horses’ pocket watch which made Del and Rodney Trotter millionaires is being sold for £15,000 at auction.
The so-called Harrison Lesser Watch was sold for £6.2 million at Sotheby’s in the sitcom’s famous ‘Time on Our Hands’ Christmas special in 1996, much to the delight of market trader brothers Del – played by Sir David Jason – and Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst), and now in real life the timepiece is going up for sale at Aston’s Auctioneers in Dudley on September 20th.
Steve Kennedy, of Aston’s, is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: “There is a huge market for anything to do with ‘Only Fools and Horses’. People love the programme and such an iconic item is sure to create a huge buzz.
“We’ve given it an estimate of up to £15,000, but it could get well above that.”
Perry Aghajanoff, president of the Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society, has verified the watch – which is one of three which were made – and the special timepiece comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Steve added: “It’s in pristine condition and has been perfectly cared for by a true lover of the show.”
‘Only Fools’ still holds the record for the largest audience for a British sitcom after 24.3 million tuned in to ‘Time on Our Hands’, the final episode of the 1996 festive trilogy, to see Del and Rodney scoop their fortune.
Throughout the show’s seven series – from 1981 to 1991 – Del was regularly encouraging his younger brother that “this time next year, we’ll be millionaires”.
And they had Del’s wife Raquel Turner’s (Tessa Peake-Jones) dad to thank for coming across the Harrison Lesser Watch in the famous episode, and realising it might be worth something.
Del, who predicted they could earn £40,000 from the sale, fainted when the auctioneer opened up the bidding at £150,000. And when the bidding reached £4 million, Rodney also fainted.
However, the pair invested in the futures market and upon their return to our screens five years later, for Christmas special ‘If They Could See Us Now’, it was revealed they had lost their money and were bankrupt, but fortunately Del had bought their Nelson Mandela House flat so they were not left homeless.

OHMYGOSSIP — Arnold Schwarzenegger could be “the star” of a new ‘Predator’ movie, according to director Shane Black.
The 71-year-old actor is known for starring as Dutch in the sci-fi movie franchise, but was noticeably absent from this year’s ‘The Predator’ – which was directed by Shane – after he turned down the brief cameo role that was offered to him.
Now, Shane has revealed it was the studio who wanted to reduce Arnold’s character to a cameo in order to create a “fresher” movie, but insists he would be willing to “open up” a major role for the actor in a future movie.
Speaking to Digital Spy, 56-year-old Shane said: “The studio wanted a fresher movie that featured an evolving cast. They didn’t want to hinge the movie on the re-emergence of Schwarzenegger. It would probably be more of a matter of his showing up briefly and just participating at the very end, at the climax of the movie. Understandably – and believe me, I completely get it – he said, ‘Look, that’s kind of a small part, and I don’t really think I want to do that. I’m off to do Terminator with Jim Cameron, basically. Or for Jim Cameron. So I totally got it, you know? If I was Schwarzenegger, I’d want to be one of the stars of a film or nothing.
“I even said to him, ‘If you’re in this one, we would open it up for the sequel, because now you’re back in the franchise.’ So you know, if there’s another movie, there’s no reason why he couldn’t be either in it, or the star of it, or whatever someone decides at a future date.”
Recently, ‘The Predator’s producer John Davis claimed there were plans for a further two sequels already, which could see Arnold return to the iconic role and face off against the unstoppable killer alien.
‘The Predator’ is the fourth instalment in the franchise, and stars Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Olivia Munn, and Sterling K. Brown.

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie’s first-ever studio recording has sold for almost quadruple the asking price.
The late music icon’s never released 1963 demo of his first band The Konrads’ track ‘I Never Dreamed’ features the vocals of a 16-year-old Bowie, and was rejected by Decca Records.
In July, Bowie’s former Konrads bandmate, David Hadfield, put the sought-after recording up for sale along with a whole host of unique memorabilia, after discovering them in a bread basket owned by his grandfather.
On Tuesday (11.09.18), Omega Auctions put the items under the hammer causing a “bidding frenzy”, and the tape, which was estimated to fetch around £10,000, sold for £39, 360.
The ‘Starman’ hitmaker – who tragically passed away from cancer in January 2016 – left the band citing creative differences not long after the demo was made, and six years later he established himself as a star with the release of ‘Space Oddity’.
Bowie had been the band’s saxophone player, and it was only on ‘I Never Dreamed’ that he recorded vocals for the first time, and led to them securing the audition with Decca.
Hadfield said: “David had no inclination to become a singer at this point, his heart and mind were focused on becoming a world class saxophone player.
“Our agent, Eric Easton, who also managed the Rolling Stones, asked us to do a demo so he could try and get us an audition at Decca.
“So in early 1963 I booked into RG Jones’ small studio in Morden. In preparation for the demo, David and our guitarist Neville Wills wrote two to three songs.
“We had decided that we would do a couple of guitar instrumentals and one original song. I chose ‘I Never Dreamed’ as it was the strongest, the other two were a bit weak.
“I also decided that David was the best person to sing it and give the right interpretation. So this became the very first recording of David [Bowie] singing 55 years ago.”
Auctioneer Paul Fairweather said of the demo: “Significant recording, completely unique and of great historical interest, being the earliest studio recording of a fledgling musician who would go on to super stardom.”
Other gold dust items at the auction held in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, included rare letters, bills, photographs and sketches by the ‘Heroes’ hitmaker.

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Mendes’ “number one style rule” is to “try everything”.
The 20-year-old singer thinks the most important thing to do when deciding your look is to step outside of your comfort zone, and to stick to your fashion instincts even when others are unsure.
In an interview with GQ, he said: “My number one style rule would be to try everything. I remember when I went to put a necklace and rings on for the first time and everyone was like ‘I don’t know man’, but if you genuinely feel like it’s cool then you should wear it because then it will be cool.”
Although the ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’ hitmaker has become known for his signature style of jeans, t-shirts, Chelsea boots, and statement jackets, he admits that it took some time for him to find the right look, and that his fashion choices have changed over time.
He said: “I went through a stage of wearing black khaki trousers, a black shirt, white socks, and black shoes.
“I wore this look everywhere. I’ve really changed the way I dress. I had to do a shoot in New York once and I put on a leather jacket as a joke, but it turned out alright.”
The ‘Stitches’ singer’s all-time favourite look was during his performance of ‘In My Blood’ at Queen Elizabeth’s star-studded 92nd birthday bash in April this year.
Shawn said: “I love the suit I wore for the Queen’s birthday. It was a red Kooples suit and it made me look more tanned on TV, which is always a good thing.
“I get a lot of say in what I wear. My stylist and I are extremely close and we have been working together for four or five years now.
“If you look at pictures, during that time we have changed my overall look three times. A highlight for me regarding fashion is that I’ve become more adventurous.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Walsh and his son have braved an alligator-infested swamp for a reality show.
The ‘Doctor Who’ actor has paired up with his 21-year-old lad Barney for ITV series ‘Breaking Dad’, which will see them joining together for a series of terrifying dares, including leaping from a plane 12,000 feet in the air.
Speaking at a fan event, Bradley is quoted by The Sun’s Bizarre TV column as saying: “I’m knackered. We’ve been in the US with ITV making a series where we travel from LA to New Orleans in a big RV like Breaking Bad.
“We are not cooking crystal meth. It’s called ‘Breaking Dad’, as Barney does things with me that I would never normally do. He put me out of my comfort zone.”
The 58-year-old star – who shares Barney with his wife Donna Derby – admitted he was scared of the intense situations the pair were put in, although some definitely made him feel more excited than others.
He added: “When we were on the road my son said, ‘Right we are going to feed you to an alligator.’
“We were on a tiny boat in an alligator-infested swamp in New Orleans. I was like, ‘Christ alive!’ I was shaking when we got on the boat.
“And before that my son said to me, ‘We have this for you …’ And they took me to the French quarter and a lovely old jazz steam boat on the Mississippi. My son said, ‘Dad, would you get up and sing a song with the band?’ I said, ‘Sure.’ ”
