Sally Morgan: Roxanne Pallett could have ruined Ryan Thomas’ life

OHMYGOSSIP — Sally Morgan says Roxanne Pallett could have “ruined” Ryan Thomas’ career on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The TV psychic appeared on the most recent series of the Channel 5 reality show, and gave support to the ‘Coronation Street’ actor after he was falsely accused of punching the former ‘Emmerdale’ star during a play fight.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (18.09.18), he said: “I felt like I had a son. It was so sad to see, because he’s young, he has his whole life ahead of him, his whole career ahead of him.
“She could have ruined that. Seriously, I want her to get help. I feel she desperately needs the help, but it’s like anything with someone with the issues she clearly has.
“She’s got to want the help. At the moment, looking at a couple of interviews that she did, I still have this sense of her not recognising what she’s done.”
Meanwhile, Sally revealed she “never” thought Ryan had punched Roxanne when she was in the house, and hadn’t realise how close she was to the incident until she left the show herself.
She added: “I was only shown that when I left. You know nothing about what’s going on…
“No, I never [thought he punched her] – absolutely not. I said to her, I don’t know if you saw it, I said ‘If he had touched in an inappropriate way, they’d have had him out like that.’ ”
Sally came fifth in the final of the show last week, with Ryan emerging victorious and Kirstie Alley finishing as the runner-up.

Jeff Daniels thanks horse in Emmy speech

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Daniels declared his broken wrist “officially healed” after picking up his Emmy Award on Monday (17.09.18) evening.
The 63-year-old actor scooped the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie accolade for his performance as outlaw Frank Griffin in ‘Godless’ and dedicated the honour to the horse he rode in the mini-series, even though he’d had his difficulties with the creature that resulted in him getting injured.
Ending his speech, he said: “I would also finally like to thank my horse, Apollo.
“He was Jeff Bridges’ horse on ‘True Grit’ and I felt he was making unfair comparisons. Three times he threw me off the horse. Three times! The third and last time, I broke my wrist – literally broke my wrist. It was my left wrist.”
Raising his statuette into the air with his left hand, he added: “It’s now officially healed.”
Earlier in his speech, Jeff admitted he’d lied about his horse riding ability to land his part in the Western series.
The Hollywood star – who has been married to his college sweetheart Kathleen since 1979 – quipped: “Little tip for you young actors. When they call and say can you ride a horse, don’t lie. You will find on day one you’re in the Kentucky Derby.”
Meanwhile, Jeff’s co-star, Merritt Wever, gave a very brief speech as she nervously accepted her prize for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.
Struggling to open her piece of paper with her speech on it, she said: “I hope you don’t mistake my fear for a lack of gratitude…
“I came prepared and it’s bombing already. I wanted to be a grown-up about this.”

Matthew Rhys shocked by win

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Rhys keeps expecting someone to ask for his Emmy Award back.
The 43-year-old actor scooped the prize for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Russian spy Philip Jennings in ‘The Americans’ at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday (17.09.18) and he’s still in shock that the statuette is his.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It still doesn’t feel like it’s mine. I genuinely feel like someone’s going to me like, ‘We need it back now.’ ‘Thanks, it was nice to hold it for a moment, thanks for the loan.’ ”
While Matthew was triumphant at the ceremony, his on-screen wife and real-life partner Keri Russell was beaten to the Lead Actress prize by ‘The Crown’s Claire Foy but he doesn’t think there’ll be any bitterness at home.
He laughed: “I think it’s gonna be fine because it will be right next to her Golden Globe.”
Though the Welsh actor will miss his alter ego, he thinks it was a “wise” decision for the programme to end after season six this year.
He said: “I think wisely so, six seasons, before they wring the towel dry, it’s a great luxury for a writer to know the arc hey can write to but I miss it enormously, the depth of these characters are rare.”
The show has drawn parallels with the current political climate, something Matthew admitted had taken him by surprise.
He said: “Season one, a journalist said to me ‘Do you think Russian interest in America is still relevant?’ and I was like, ‘Oh I dunno, maybe it’s just a show about relationships.’ Season two and three, we were like ‘Yes, yes it is.’ ”

Betty White’s standing ovation

OHMYGOSSIP — Betty White received a standing ovation at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday evening (17.09.18).
The 96-year-old television was greeted by rapturous applause as she took to the stage at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre to be honoured for her seven-decade career and she couldn’t resist poking fun at her advancing age when she took the mic.
She said: “Somebody said something the other day about first lady of television, and I took it as a big compliment.
“And then I heard her talking to her daughter a little later, and she said, ‘First lady, she’s that old. She was the first one way back.’ ”
But the ‘Golden Girls’ star admitted it is “incredible” her career had lasted so long.
She said: “Little did I dream then, that I would be here and it’s incredible that I’m still in this business and that you are still putting up with me,” White said. “I am thanking you. It’s incredible that you can stay in a career this long and still have people put up with you. I wish they did that at home.”
And Betty then made the crowd laugh again with a joke about ‘Saturday Night Live’ creator Lorne Michaels, who was producing the Emmys.
She quipped: “I thought the biggest, most exciting night I’d ever had — I’m talking to Lorne Michaels now — was the night he gave me an honour. But boy, you topped yourself tonight, Lorne…
“I want to thank Lorne Michaels, not only this tonight but all the wonderful things he has done with me, no for me.
“All I can say is it’s such a blessed business to be in and how lucky can be I be and how much I say thank you to each and every one of you.”

Bill Hader didn’t expect Emmy win

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Hader didn’t expect to win an Emmy Award so didn’t bother writing a speech.
The 40-year-old actor admitted it was “bananas” that he scooped the accolade for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in ‘Barry’ on Monday (17.09.18) evening and his memory of the moment he got up on stage at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater is quite vague.
Asked if he’d rehearsed a speech, the former ‘Saturday Night Live’ star said: “No, no, no. But you do kind of think, because I was nominated a couple times for Saturday Night Live, and I thought, ‘Well, maybe this is what I’d say or whatever.’ But I didn’t do that with this because I was like, ‘I’m not going to win,’ and then I won, and I have no idea what I said up there.”
And Bill recalled his slow reaction when his name was called as the winner of the prestigious award.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It’s bananas… Well, [series co-creator] Alec Berg yelled a giant expletive right in my ear and then I turned and went, ‘Oh, gosh.’
“And something in my brain said, ‘You need to stand up,’ so I stood up there and hugged the guy from ‘Atlanta’. And then, yeah, I went up there.”
The comic is now hoping his award win will help him find love after transitioning from goofy sidekick to leading man.
He quipped: “I’m super single, so, you guys, I’m not – I’m just saying in the world, I’m super single.”
Bill was shortlisted for the accolade alongside Larry David for ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, Anthony Anderson for ‘Black-ish’, ‘Shameless’ star William H. Macy, ‘The Good Place’ actor Ted Danson and Donald Glover for ‘Atlanta’.
After the ceremony ended, Bill showed off his trophy at the HBO Emmy Awards after-party.

Heidi Klum’s kids wanted to go to Emmy Awards with her

OHMYGOSSIP — Heidi Klum’s children begged her to go to the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
The 45-year-old supermodel usually takes her kids – Helene, 14, Henry, 13, Johan, 11, and Lou, eight, whom she has with her ex-husband Seal – with her when she attends film premieres but she was adamant they couldn’t tag along when she graced the red carpet at the prestigious event in Los Angeles on Monday (17.09.18) night.
Speaking to People.com on the red carpet, she said: “They always want to come with me – ‘Mom, can we please come?’ – but I always say, ‘It’s kind of work, I’m talking to a lot of television stations, we’re doing photos and then we’re sitting and you have to be quiet.’ I think it is not as fun as a movie [premiere] or something like that, or music.”
The blonde bombshell – who was nominated for two awards at the event – was joined by her toyboy boyfriend Tom Kaulitz instead and the pair sparked speculation that they were engaged after Heidi strutted down the red carpet with a ring on her finger.
After whispers began to circulate, the ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge declared that she was merely wearing them because they matched her outfit perfectly.
Heidi – who wore a peachy figure-hugging satin dress – told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “No! All these are just borrowed. They’re from Lorraine [Schwartz]. They go with that necklace beautifully. I mean, look at this gorgeous necklace. And then I needed some baubles, so they’re all borrowed. Don’t read into anything. They’re just pretty rings.”
Heidi and Tom have been dating for almost a year now but she’s still regularly questioned over their 17-year age gap.
She said recently: “My boyfriend is many years younger than me, and lots of people are questioning that and asking about it. That’s really the only time when age seems to be shoved in my face and I have to give an answer for it. I don’t really think about it that much otherwise. You have to just live a happy life without worrying too much about what people think because worrying is only going to give you more wrinkles.”

Captain Marvel’s first trailer teases new Marvel movie

OHMYGOSSIP — The first ‘Captain Marvel’ trailer has been released.
The long-awaited Marvel trailer – which features Brie Larson in the iconic role – made its debut on ‘Good Morning America’ and has given fans an insight into what they can expect from the upcoming superhero movie.
The dramatic clip, which lasts for just under two minutes, opens with Captain Marvel, the alter ego of US Air Force pilot Carol Danvers, falling from the sky and crashing through a building.
The movie is set in the 90s and the scenes in the trailer show Brie’s on-screen character in a variety of high-octane moments, including riding on the roof of a moving train as she finds herself in the midst of an alien invasion.
Later in the trailer, Captain Marvel experiences numerous flashbacks to her younger years as she tries to piece her life together.
Samuel L Jackson – who stars as Nick Fury – and Jude Law – who plays the role of Carol’s mentor – also make brief appearances in the clips.
And the tension-filled trailer ends with Captain Marvel saying: “I’m not what you think I am.”
‘Captain Marvel’ producer Nate Moore recently gave fans an insight into what they should expect from the film, saying it won’t be like the typical origin story.
He explained: “I think there is a structure to origin films that audiences sometimes can get ahead of very quickly. So, if we do origin films, internally, we talk about how we can subvert that structure.
“For instance, ‘Captain Marvel’ is an origin movie in that you haven’t seen her before. But we think we’ve stumbled upon a structure there that isn’t the traditional structure of what origin movies typically are.”

Anna Kendrick says Blake Lively has ‘a dark side’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Kendrick thinks Blake Lively has a “dark, funny side”.
The 33-year-old actress – who stars alongside Blake, 31, in the new Paul Feig directed drama movie ‘A Simple Favor’ – has revealed that Blake’s real-life personality is a little different to how she’s perceived by the public.
Speaking at the ‘A Simple Favor’ premiere at the BFI Southbank in London on Monday night (17.09.18), Anna explained: “I mean, she’s never evil but she does have a dark, funny side. So, it wasn’t shocking because people think of her as a real sweetheart, which she is … but it was definitely not a surprise to me because once you get to know her a little better, she’ll definitely talk with the best of them.”
Blake – who is married to fellow Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds – also joked that the movie afforded her the opportunity to embrace her “dark” side.
The actress – whose on-screen character disappears in the film – told talkRADIO: “It was like all the facades that I’d put up had just let go. So you guys got to see the real me. I’m just like a dark, horrible person and I got to let my flag fly. So there you go, the real me.”
Blake’s character uses a lot of X-rated language in the new movie, and the American star – who considers herself to be “very proper in real life” – admitted that some of the explicit language that she and Anna used couldn’t make it past the final edit.
She confessed: “We actually had some that were so nasty they could not make it into the film. But we’re both very proper in real life, so we couldn’t even say the words.
“We would be like … [mumbles swear words]. We would speak in code of what the words started with, rather than saying the actual word. But when we were on camera it was like … I mean, sailors have nothing on me. But as soon as we cut we were like, ‘Um, is that okay?’ ”

Rochelle Humes: Marvin is a bum man

OHMYGOSSIP — Rochelle Humes says husband Marvin Humes is a “bum man”.
The former Saturdays star – who has daughters Alaia-Mai, five, and Valentina, 18 months, with the former JLS star – would love to have a “peachy bum” but she’s happy enough with her bountiful booty, especially as Marvin loves her full derriere.
She told the new issue of Closer magazine: “The way I look would never keep me up at night. In another lifetime, I’d love to come back with washboard abs and a peachy bum, but it doesn’t bother me. I would rather eat cake or pasta than worry. Plus, Marvin is a bum man – so he’s happy.”
Revealing why she never put pressure on herself to spring back into shape after kids, she added: “I have my worries, but not about my body. It’s unrealistic to expect mums to snap back into shape.
“When you have a child, you’re not going to look the same as before – you’ve made a baby! I’ve always been body confident.”
The 29-year-old presenter also feels it’s important to make sure her two young girls never witness her being negative about her physique or her looks.
She said: “I’m a believer in moderation – I’m raising two girls, and I would never want to be body conscious in front of them.”
The ‘All Fired Up’ singer admits that she is “always broody” so there is the possibility that the couple could end up having another child in the future.
Asked whether she wants to expand her brood, she said: “I’ll always be broody. I’m one of those people who sees a baby and goes, ‘Ahhh…’ But I feel very complete and happy right now. People always say, ‘Are you going to try for a boy next?’ And I bet I’d be the person who then has 10 girls!”
Rochelle – who first started dating Marvin in 2010, before marrying the 33-year-old hunk two years later – recently said she would like to renew their wedding vows, and she says it’s important for the couple to make time for date nights and to show their appreciation for one another.
She told the publication: “Our relationship is important to us, so we are very aware when we need to go out for dinner. We’ll cancel things and have a date night instead. We are lucky to be so happy, but we both want our marriage to work. He can be the other side of the room and I know what he’s thinking. He is my biggest cheerleader, and I am his.”

Dolly Parton to launch new song for UK version of 9 to 5 musical

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton is to release a new song for her ‘9 to 5’ musical exclusively in the UK.
The 72-year-old country legend revealed that she will be adding a new track into the stage show – which will launch at the Savoy Hotel from January 28 to August 31 – based on the 1980 movie of the same name.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she said: “I’m gonna release a new song hopefully that’s gonna drop into the new show over there [UK] that’s not been played here in the States, so hopefully you’ll have a little exclusive something.”
The musical, which will star Louise Redknapp, 43, Amber Davies, 21, and Brian Conley, 57, follows the story of three women facing sexist and egotistical bosses in the workplace.
Dolly admits that although times have changed since the release of the original film – which features music and Lyrics written by the ‘Jolene’ hitmaker – there is still progress to be made towards total equality in the workplace and with regards to harassment in the industry.
She said: “It really is. It’s amazing we did make a lot of changes at that time and we were out on a mission to try and make changes and things did change a lot.
“But they do need to change even more and especially now with the MeToo movement there’s still a lot of the same things going on in the workplace.
“All the harassment and all the stuff that’s going on now it kind of made sense of this to come out again and now.
“I think wherever you are in the world, we all have the same problems in the workplace and hopefully it will help with that.”
Although the show carries a poignant message, the ‘Islands in the Stream’ singer insists that the musical will still be fun and entertaining.
She said: “It’s very funny and very good. It’s not just a big political statement. We made a good statement and we made a good message – but it’s very fun and very entertaining.”
Dolly’s last original music was on the 2016 LP ‘Pure & Simple’.

Kate Beckinsale felt bare at GQ Men of the Year Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Beckinsale has joked that she had a “panic” in her risqué GQ Men of the Year Awards outfit on the red carpet.
The 45-year-old actress bared the flesh in the barley-there ensemble, which saw her hold just a tiny piece of fabric over her modesty, and days later she took to social media to quip about feeling like she’d walked out of the house without any trousers on.
Sharing a picture of her walking the red-carpet in the jaw-dropping gown at the event in London last week, she joked on Instagram: “When you suddenly get that horrid stab of panic that you left the house without putting on your trousers #butsarahicanfeeladraughtinmyarchitrave (sic)”
Meanwhile, the ‘Love and Friendship’ star recently revealed the bizarre item she always carries with her, butter.
The British actress is such a huge fan of Kerrygold butter that she has to take it with her wherever she goes as she “finds it quite hard to get a hold of”.
She said: “I find it quite hard to get a hold of. If I’m going from one city to another I’ll put some in my suitcase to make sure I have it. I’m the crazy person travelling with butter.”
And Kate likes to include butter in her diet, in moderation, as she feels it improves her skin compared to being on a low-fat diet.
She added: “When I did ‘Pearl Harbor’, they had me on a very strict low-fat diet. I remember my mum coming and visiting me and going, ‘You look so old.’ I was 24 and I had lines on my face because I didn’t have enough fat. And so now, I remember very early on meeting a great nutritionist and they said, ‘One day everyone is going to say don’t eat low-fat margarine or they are going to say eat butter or eat olive oil.’ And it did take quite a long time, but I really noticed if I can eat coconut oil and butter and things like that, obviously in moderation, it makes almost an immediate effect on your skin. I don’t think it is a myth. I think you can see the difference in a week or two.”

Blake Lively says female voices are ‘being heard’ in Hollywood

OHMYGOSSIP — Blake Lively thinks more female voices are “being heard” within Hollywood now.
The 31-year-old actress – who is married to actor Ryan Reynolds –
feels women have become increasingly influential figures within the movie business over recent years, but Blake still feels more needs to be done in order to achieve true equality.
Speaking at the ‘A Simple Favor’ premiere at the BFI Southbank in London on Monday night (17.09.18), Blake told talkRADIO: “We need more … I think we have a lot of female bosses and women’s voices are being heard now in a big way more than a few years ago, which is great.”
By contrast, Blake previously bemoaned male stars being given the sorts of opportunities that are rarely afforded to women.
More specifically, she said that actors are often given the chance to play “a**holes”, whereas their female counterparts are not.
Speaking in 2017, Blake explained: “I mean, my husband plays a**holes, [but] you go, ‘He’s so charming.’ Because he is likeable … or you look at Harrison Ford as Han Solo and he’s like, ‘Get over here, sweetheart,’ and you just sort of [think], ‘Whoo, it’s so exciting and romantic and titillating.’ ”
And Blake insists it is only natural that differing societal attitudes towards men and women manifest themselves in the movie business.
She continued: “It’s because he’s charming and he’s loving and he’s not some sexist a**hole … but, you don’t see that and think, ‘Oh, that guy’s not likeable.’ But you would read on a page and you just know, ‘Oh, it’s a man – he’ll be charming.’
“But if you read that on a page as a woman, they would never let you say that line because the note would always be, ‘Oh, you just have to make sure she’s likeable.’ ”
