Dad’s Army to make TV comeback?

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dad’s Army’ is set to make a television comeback – 50 years after it ended.
The well-loved sitcom, which originally ran from 1968 until 1977, is being revived next year as TV bosses at Gold attempt to remake three lost episodes – ‘The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Walker’, ‘Stripe For Frazer’ and ‘Under Fire’ – using the original scripts penned by Jimmy Perry and David Croft.
Gold boss Pete Thornton told the Daily Star newspaper: “We’ve been working on this project for several years and will be respecting the genius of the original series. If ever there was a time to ‘stick to the script’ then this is it.”
Producers are currently on the hunt for a stellar cast for the remake and reportedly have their eye on Sir David Jason to play Captain Mainwaring, Hugh Laurie as Sgt Arthur Wilson and EastEnders’ Danny Dyer as Private Joe Walker.
Pete, head of scripting at UKTV, added: “The Lost Episodes are currently being cast, with an extensive hunt on to find the perfect candidates to take on the daunting task of bringing these much-loved comedy characters to life once more.”
Bosses are also reportedly keen to get original cast member Ian Lavender – who played Private Frank Pike – on board for the new episodes, which will be filmed in front of a live studio audience at the beginning of 2019.
‘Dad’s Army’ – which starred the likes of Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, Arnold Ridley and John Laurie – was based on the hapless exploits of an elderly British Home Guard during the Second World War.
It ran for nine series – racking up 80 episodes in total – and regularly brought in audiences of more than 18 million viewers.
There was also a radio version based on the television scripts, a feature film and a stage show. The television programme is still aired around the world now.

Simon Cowell tried to get Holly Willoughby to snub This Morning presenting gig

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell tried to convince Holly Willoughby to turn down ‘This Morning’.
The 37-year-old presenter – who has hosted the brunch-time show alongside Phillip Schofield since 2009 after she was brought in as Fern Britton’s replacement – has revealed that the music mogul, who she worked with on ‘The Xtra Factor’ in 2008, tried to warn her that joining the programme would be a “really big mistake.”
Speaking on ‘This Morning: 30 Unforgettable Years’, which aired last night (02.10.18), she said: “I remember I was doing ‘Xtra Factor’ and it got to the point where we had to let Simon Cowell know that I was coming to do ‘This Morning’, and he said: ‘I think that would be a really big mistake.’ He got that wrong!”
The blonde beauty owes a lot to Phillip – who she was working with on ‘Dancing on Ice’ at the time – as he told bosses he would leave unless they hired her as his co-presenter.
He said: “I’d said I’m not doing it with anyone else, it has to be you or I’m not doing it.”
To which Holly replied: “And that I have to thank you for, because if it wasn’t for you, there is no doubt I wouldn’t be doing this.”
The pair – who host the show Monday through to Thursday while Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes present it on Fridays – have become fan favourites over the years and the programme even received a special BAFTA on Monday (01.10.18) night.
Holding back the tears as she collected the award on behalf of the show, Holly said: “To be stood up here holding a BAFTA for a show that you’re lucky enough to even be a part of is incredible. ‘This Morning’ has the best team and has done for 30 years.
“Everybody has said it’s something that has shaped their career and is something that stays with you. This show gives you something that no other show can I think.
“Whether it be friendship or skills in telly or whether it be whatever you take with you for the rest of time. I think this is very special and everyone should be very proud.”

Jessica Chastain has embraced her freckles

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Chastain is now proud of her freckles.
The 41-year-old actress has grown to love her blemishes after years of trying to hide them, even agreeing to them being airbrushed from her face when she posed for photo shoots.
Chastain was inspired to embrace her natural look by fellow redhead Sissy Spacek who gave her the confidence to let her “freckles shine”.
In an interview with ELLE magazine, she said: When I was filming ‘The Help’ and Sissy Spacek said to me, because we have very similar complexions, ‘Jessica I don’t really wear foundation’, and I was like, ‘Oh wow, it’s possible to go out with just a bit of concealer under my eyes and allow my freckles to shine.’
“When I first started acting, a lot of magazines airbrushed my freckles away so now I’m so happy when I see them on women.
“It’s nice that we’re being allowed to see what real skin looks like again. Now, if I’m not working, I very often wear no make-up.”
The ‘Molly’s Game’ star has also divulged that she uses vitamin C drops to improve her complexion, and her beauty regime has been inspired by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, who wore minimal makeup on her wedding day to Prince Harry earlier this year allowing her freckles to shine.
She said: “I’ll just use vitamin C drops, sun screen and a bit of concealer. I love Meghan Markle’s freckles, I’m happy she chose to be herself on her wedding day.”
Chastain also “likes wrinkles” and believes that women should not place their value on their youth and embrace getting older.
She said: “I like wrinkles! I love Helen Mirren’s face, I love Isabelle Huppert’s face, I think they’re more beautiful now than they were when they first started in the industry. I think it’s really important to realise that when we put forward the message that only youth and airbrushing is important, then that’s where young girls feel that their value lies.”

Doutzen Kroes needs eyelash curlers

OHMYGOSSIP — Doutzen Kroes’ best beauty tip is to use eyelash curlers.
The 33-year-old model – who has children Phyllon, seven, and Myllena, four, with husband Sunnery James – has found that taking just a few minutes to curl her lashes makes her look much brighter in the mornings.
She said: The best beauty tip I’ve learnt in my career is curling your eyelashes. Because when your eyes are tired or puffy in the morning and you curl your eyelashes it makes a huge difference.
“It was make-up artist Lucia Pieroni that taught me that.”
And the little tip helps Doutzen a lot because she doesn’t have a lot of time to spend on her make-up in the mornings.
She told Harper’s Bazaar online: “As a mother it’s very difficult to spend an hour in the morning on make-up! L’Oréal has a great BB Cream that I use and also in the summer they have one with SPF, so I wear this and mascara and that’s it. The volumising Unlimited Mascara is my favourite make-up product.”
But the Dutch model makes sure she takes the time to look after her skin and thinks she needs to start doing more.
She said: “I look after my skin by using SPF. I cleanse in the morning and then put on a serum, cream and SPF.
“This is something I more recently started – when you’re younger you don’t really care about your skin, it’s just there – and as you get older you see it changing. I needed to step up my game! So I’ve been doing facials and masks and I look after it now.”

Lindsay Lohan’s family ‘are concerned by her behaviour’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lindsay Lohan’s family are reportedly concerned by her recent behaviour.
The ‘Mean Girls’ actress recently shared an encounter she had with a family who she believed to be Syrian refugees on her Instagram account, which ended with Lindsay seemingly being struck to the ground by the family’s angry mother.
A source told E! News that although Lindsay’s loved ones weren’t previously concerned about her, their attitude has changed since the video emerged online.
In the Instagram video, Lindsay offered to help the family by paying for a a place to stay.
She said: “Tell me your story so that I can help you. What do you need? Do you want me to give you a hotel? So I want you to tell America what you need and I will get it for you.”
But after she failed to convince them to come with her, she accused the parents of “trafficking children”.
Lindsay said: “You should not have them [your sons] on the floor, you should be a hard-working woman and you should be doing what you [can] for your children, so they have a better life.
“If someone is offering them a home and a bed, which is me at the moment, give it to them. They will come back to you.”
The family then tried to evade Lindsay by walking off down the street.
And the 32-year-old actress responded by saying: “Look what’s happening, they’re trafficking children […] You’re ruining Arabic culture by doing this.
“You’re taking these children, they want to go. I’m with you boys, don’t worry, the whole world is seeing this right now.”
The situation became noticeably more tense as the video develops and at the end, it appears as though the mother lashed out at the American star.
Lindsay eventually turned the camera on herself and said: “I’m in shock.”

Kanye West celebrates his dad’s cancer recovery by eating bugs

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West has eaten bugs to celebrate his dad “beating cancer”.
The controversial rap star has taken to his Instagram account to reveal he decided to “overcome” his fear of bugs after learning that his dad was on the road to recovery from prostate cancer.
Kanye – whose post on the photo-sharing website featured a tray of crickets – captioned the image: “overcome fear
My dad and I are going to eat this plate of bugs to celebrate him beating cancer. No more fear (sic)”
Kanye’s mother, Donda, died in 2007 following cosmetic surgery complications.
But a source previously claimed that the 41-year-old rap star has recently benefited from the support of his wife Kim Kardashian West, with whom he has kids North, five, Saint, two, and eight-month-old Chicago.
In July, a source explained: “Kanye’s dad was diagnosed with cancer and is already receiving treatment.
“He seems to be responding well to the treatment and everyone is hopeful he will be okay.”
Although Kanye didn’t want to talk about his dad’s health worries at the time, he appreciated Kim’s supportive influence.
The insider added: “Kanye doesn’t really talk about it. You can tell it’s something that’s very difficult for him.
“When his mom suddenly passed away, Kanye was all alone. Having Kim and the kids around helps in difficult situations.”
Kanye previously suggested he blames himself for his mother’s death.
Asked what he has sacrificed for his career success, he said: “My mom.”
The rap star claimed Donda – who underwent surgery at a Los Angeles-area hospital – would still have been alive if he hadn’t decided to relocate.
He explained: “If I had never moved to L.A. she’d be alive. I don’t want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.”

Tom Hardy: I’ve been a bog-standard alcoholic my whole life

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hardy says he’s been a “bog-standard alcoholic” his whole life.
The 41-year-old actor – who has previously admitted to being “out of control” with drink and drugs before turning his life around – has confessed that his past problems helped him with his latest on-screen role in ‘Venom’.
Tom – who went to rehab in 2003 and has now been sober for more than a decade – said: “I was a bog-standard alcoholic my whole life.”
The British star plays Eddie Brock, a journalist whose body is invaded by an alien, in the new movie.
And he’s admitted that in some ways, he can relate to the Jekyll-and-Hyde character.
He told ‘Good Morning Britain’: “There were elements of that, like my inside voice.
“I can see the symbolism there, but I know that as a grown-up and as a man I can’t go out there and bite people’s heads off.”
Tom has emerged as one of Hollywood’s best-known stars since overcoming addiction.
And the actor has admitted his career has proven to be his saviour from his past troubles.
Tom – who married his second wife, actress Charlotte Riley, in 2014 – previously explained: “The only thing that saved me through that dark time was acting. I originally got into it because I wanted to make my father proud of me.
“Because I was an only child, this was very important to me – and there wasn’t very much of anything else that I could do.
“But acting was something I could do – and because I found that I was good at it, I wanted to make the effort to invest time and effort into doing it.”

Chris Hemsworth is confused by his twin sons

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth doesn’t understand how his twin sons can be so different.
The Australian actor – who has kids India, six, and twins Tristan and Sasha, four, with his wife Elsa Pataky – has admitted he’s still struggling to come to terms with the contrasting personalities of his sons.
He confessed: “I don’t get how I can teach them the same thing but they be so different?
“Tristan is so athletic but there’s not an aggressive bone in his body. He’s the most emotional one. Whereas Sasha is like a little gangster. The other day, we were in the park and something happened with Tristan and another kid. He comes over in tears.
“I’m like, ‘What’s wrong?’ but he didn’t want to tell me. Sasha’s like, ‘Tristan, what happened?’ They’re four, by the way. ‘Another kid pushed me.’ Sasha goes over to this older kid, taps him on the shoulder and says, ‘Why’d you push my brother?’ I’m stood there thinking, I should step in, but this is awesome.”
Chris, 35 – who is perhaps best-known for playing Thor in the Marvel movies – is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after stars.
But the actor admits that one of the best aspects of his job is that, unlike a director, he never has to commit too much of his time to a particular project.
Speaking to GQ Australia, the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ star explained: “Over the years, I’ve gotten more confident with my own voice. I’ve realised my strengths are in doctoring things – sorting through the chaos and reassembling the puzzle – stealing everyone else’s ideas and taking credit for it.
“What I love about acting is the in-and-out nature of it. Whereas with directing you have to commit a minimum of two years, really. You need to be as enthusiastic about it on day one as you are at day 800. I wonder if I could maintain that stamina.”

PM Theresa May makes This Morning cameo for its 30th birthday

OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May made a cameo appearance in This Morning’s 30th birthday episode on Wednesday (03.10.18).
The popular brunch time show kicked off today with a huge stunt featuring the tough-talking politician after Phillip Schofield almost missed the start of the programme because he was stuck in London’s rush hour traffic.
Speaking to his co-host Holly Willoughby on the phone, the 56-year-old presenter explained that he was stuck in the back of a cab and needed help “quick.”
Thinking quick on her feet, Holly roped in her friend Dermot O’Leary.
He said: “What? 30th with no Phillip… not on my watch! I’ll call in some favours.”
Newsreader Mary Nightingale was then seen saying: “Don’t worry, I know exactly who to call…,” before the camera flashed to the new Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker.
The 36-year-old actress – who is the first-ever woman to play the female Time Lord – quickly called Keith Lemon and screeched in a panic: “Phil needs ya…”
With the help of the flame-haired funny man – portrayed by Leigh Francis – the Prime Minister called Phillip directly and said: “It’s This Morning’s 30th birthday, you absolutely have to be there… I know just the people who can help you.”
May then directed him to a Red Devils sign – the Parachute Regiment’s parachute display team – and said: “Remember Phillip, the nations going to be watching…”
Phillip was then seen hopping on a plane and flying across the capital before he jumped out and sky dived into the studios at the Television Centre just in time.
Holly said: “What time do you call this?”
The presenters then thanked all those involved in the stunt, before they kicked off the birthday celebrations with a performance from The Bootleg Beatles.

Holly Willoughby relied on This Morning during maternity leave struggles

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby tuned into ‘This Morning’ every day when she was on maternity leave because it felt like she had a “friend” in her room when she was “struggling.”
The 37-year-old presenter has admitted she struggled to adapt to motherhood when she gave birth to children; Harry, nine, Belle, seven, and Chester, four – whom she has with her husband Dan Baldwin – and found herself looking forward to the daily brunch time show when she had been up all night with her babies.
The blonde beauty – who joined the programme as a host in 2009 – said on today’s (03.10.18) show: “It was my first job that I came back to having had my first baby, Harry. And then I was pregnant with Belle. I mean it felt like I was pregnant a lot. I’ve been all shapes and sizes on this show but the thing about having that moment was being on maternity leave and watching the show as a viewer again and remembering and understanding how important this show is.
“I remember just texting Phil on maternity all the time saying: ‘Today’s show was amazing!’ I’m here at home, I haven’t slept, I’m trying to feed my kids, I’m really struggling and it felt like there was a friend always in the corner of my room.
“It was just a reminder of what this show does and how important it is. It’s lovely to watch it as a viewer in my dressing gown.”
Today marks the programme’s 30th birthday and Phillip has admitted he eyed up the show when he first watched Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan launch it.
He explained: “I thought: ‘This is like Saturday telly but for adults.’ And it’s one of those things where you think I would absolutely love to have a go at that and then years later I was a guest a few times and then you end up presenting it.
“And I think we will all agree that there’s been so many presenters – you have your time – you’re a custodian. It’s like being the captain of the Titanic and then there will be someone else. Maybe the Queen Mary but there have been times where it’s felt like the Titanic.”

Daisy Wood-Davis quits Hollyoaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Wood-Davis has quit ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 27-year-old actress – who joined the soap in October 2014 – has filmed her final scenes as Kim Butterfield, and her departure will air on screen later this year, a source told Digital Spy.
Though it is unclear how Daisy’s alter ego will leave the soap, one possibility is that the troubled nurse will be among the fatalities when a storm hits the village later this month.
A source told Metro.co.uk: “Kim has been a really popular character in the show and has been through a lot over the years. Bosses are staying tight lipped over exactly how she makes her exit and whether the character is being killed off but storms are definitely brewing this autumn. Whatever happens though, fans can look forward to a Rick Astley cameo – but not as much as Kim herself will!”
Earlier this year, Kim was imprisoned in the old Hollyoaks High building by Ryan Knight (Duncan James) and was left with just a Rick Astley poster for company.
And shortly afterwards, it was revealed the ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ singer would be making a cameo appearance on the show.
The guest appearance was confirmed in July with a photo of the day’s filming schedule which showed that the actress and the singer would be on set that afternoon.
The accompanying tweet read: “O-M-G! The #RouteToRick continues, as Kim’s very own BFF @rickastley is coming to #Hollyoaks today! Ahhhh! So exciting! [sic]”
The pair sparked speculation a cameo was in the pipeline when they eventually met up over the summer.
During a ‘Hollyoaks’ Facebook Live chat, Daisy said: “I’ve got something really exciting for you guys – I want to introduce you to someone who means a lot to me and a lot to Kim … it’s Rick!
“We’re just hanging out. We’re bessies now. I’ve had the best night ever.”
Rick, 52, added: “I haven’t given her up and I haven’t let her down.”
When asked how it feels to be Kim’s guardian angel, he replied: “It feels like I’m in the right place, that’s what it feels like.”

Johnny Depp says Disney wanted to fire him from Pirates of the Caribean

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Depp says Disney wanted to “fire” him over his ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ performance.
The 55-year-old actor’s interpretation of Captain Jack Sparrow in the first film in the swashbuckling franchise left bosses baffled, and he admitted they didn’t understand the character.
He told GQ magazine: “Disney hated me. [They were] thinking of every way they could to get rid of me, to fire me.
“‘Oh, we’re going to have to subtitle him.’ ‘We don’t understand Captain Jack Sparrow. What’s wrong with him?’ ‘What’s wrong with his arms?’ ‘Is he drunk?’ ‘Is he mentally f***ing stupefied?’ ‘Is he gay?’ ”
Sparrow’s sexuality was brought up in a conversation with Disney’s Nina Jacobson – who herself is openly gay, and has campaigned for greater diversity in Hollywood’s boardrooms – and Depp was sure “to be irreverent” with his answer.
He said: “It was a lady called Nina Jacobson from Disney at the time and she asked me a couple of questions and then said, ‘What is it, Johnny? Is he gay?’
“My tendency, of course, is to be irreverent so I said, ‘Nina, didn’t you know all my characters are gay?’ That was a pretty abrupt end to the conversation. And I just continued shaping Jack the way I believed was best.”
Depp argued that Disney should have known what to expect when they hired him for the role, and insisted they should respect his vision after trusting him to take on the part.
He added: “I told them, ‘Look, you don’t like what I’m doing, fire me. You hired me to do a job and play the character and this is what I want to do.’
“This is the work. I mean, hadn’t they seen any of the work I’d done previously? You might want to take a look at that before you hire a motherf****r, you know?”

Jake Gyllenhaal praises Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool success

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Gyllenhaal has praised Ryan Reynolds for breaking away from romantic comedies to make ‘Deadpool’ a success.
The 37-year-old actor is good friends with the Hollywood star, and he has opened up about how his pal moved from being a typical leading man to realise his dream of playing Marvel’s wise-cracking anti-hero.
Writing for Variety – who named Reynolds on their New Power of New York list – he teased: “Audiences got to know Ryan a bit through his work in a string of romantic comedies.
“He was undoubtedly charming and handsome (annoying), but he never quite had the space to fire on all cylinders. What we all want for our friends in this business is for the world to see what we see, and as actors, that only happens in a perfect storm of timing and the full luck.
“After years of waiting and struggling to fit his unfortunate, pear-shaped physique into the skinny jeans of a conventional romantic lead, Ryan made his own luck with ‘Deadpool.’ ”
The ‘Southpaw’ star noted how “tirelessly” Reynolds works on his projects, and admitted that helped make the movie – and its sequel – be the unexpectedly huge success it was.
He added: “Ryan built the house of ‘Deadpool’ brick by brick, constructing a space that inspired him and let him stretch to every corner of the room.
“The remarkable success of ‘Deadpool’ may have shocked the suits who took a chance on financing that ragtag superhero movie, but for the people who know and love Ryan, it was no surprise that the whole damn world rallied as soon as it had the chance to really see him: all of the edges and darkness, the crackerjack wit borne from a lifetime of sensitivity and sadness, and against all odds, the openness.”

Bjorn Ulvaeus teases new ABBA album

OHMYGOSSIP — Bjorn Ulvaeus has hinted a new ABBA album could be released.
The Swedish pop group haven’t made a studio LP since 1981’s ‘The Visitors’ but the 73-year-old songwriter and the other three members – Agnetha Faltskog, Benny Andersson and Frida Lyngstad – have recorded two brand new tracks, one of which is titled ‘I Still Have Faith In You’, for an upcoming BBC documentary.
Bjorn has now tantalising teased that a full album could come out following the “wonderful” experience the foursome shared in the studio.
Speaking to the London Evening Standard newspaper, he said: “A new album? Possibly. Or four songs or something like that – that’s possible.”
However, he is adamant that the band will never tour again and instead fans will have to get their ABBA live fix from their ‘Abbatar’ holograms which will go on a digital tour either in 2019 or 2020.
Bjorn added: “But for us to perform on stage that’s just not going to happen. That’s a definite.”
Back in July, Bjorn delighted ABBA fanatics everywhere by revealing details of the two fresh tracks.
He said: “One of them is a pop tune, very danceable. The other is more timeless, more reflective, that is all I will say. It is Nordic sad, but happy at the same time.”
ABBA’s music is once again at the forefront of popular culture because of the ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ film, which is soundtracked by the group’s hits.
Cher stars in the sequel and after singing ‘Fernando’ for a scene in the movie she went on to record a full album of ABBA covers entitled ‘Dancing Queen’ which contains her versions of some of their best-loved songs such as ‘SOS, ‘Waterloo’ and ‘The Winner Takes It All’.

Kylie Jenner launching skincare line?

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner has sparked speculation she’s launching a new skincare line.
The lip kit guru has filed for a number of trademarks including ‘Kylie Skin’ and ‘Kylie Skin by Kylie Jenner’ – which is for goods that could include serums, scrubs, moisturisers, cleansers, toners, masks and oils – and another ‘Kylie Skin’ for retail store services “featuring skin care products, skin care preparation products, cosmetics, cosmetic preparations and gifts.”
The filings at the United States Patent and Trademark Office are currently awaiting examination but could take from three months up to a year for processing – or she may decide not to pursue the filings.
Kylie was recently praised by her half-sibling Khloe Kardashian, 34, about her make-up know-how, admitting she has always received tips from the ‘Life of Kylie’ star.
She said: “Kylie is very confident, make-up is totally her world. I have learnt a lot from her.
“I am older than Kylie and she would say from a young age, ‘You should really contour,’ or make me change certain products I was using.”
The 21-year-old mother-of-one revealed her ‘In Love with the KoKo’ collaboration with Khloe last month, and the ‘Revenge Body’ star has admitted that it was easy working with her sister as they “respect each other in their certain fields”.
She said: “She just has such a great eye for other people’s faces. When Kylie gives you a critique, it is coming from a helpful place; she’s not trying to sabotage you in any way.
“She wants to pass on her knowledge on how to apply makeup. When we collaborated, it was super easy for her and I to work together. We respect each other in our certain fields and I think that is crucial for working with anyone.”

Ruth Langsford watched now-husband Eamonn Holmes on BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruth Langsford used to secretly watch her now-husband Eamonn Holmes on the BBC because she fancied him – even though she worked for its rival ITV at the time.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter couldn’t believe it when she heard about the brunch-time show launching with married couple Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan as its hosts in 1988 and she never predicted at the time that she and the Irish journalist, whom she married in 2010, would step into their shoes in 2006 and front the show on Fridays.
Speaking in today’s (03.10.18) episode to mark 30 years since its launch, Ruth recalled: “When ‘This Morning’ started I was working for ITV down in the West Country and I wasn’t on the TV, I was a transmission assistant and so I was intrigued because we had heard all about this new show and I was completely intrigued that they were married because I thought: ‘Oh we haven’t seen a married couple like this.’
“And this fascinated me. And then on our monitors, we used to have one monitor that aired the BBC feed, which I wasn’t supposed to listen to, it was just there.
“But every so often I used to switch over because there was this very handsome Irish man on there. I used to think: ‘Oh he’s a bit of alright.’ And then 30 years later, here I am married to him and on the show.”
But Eamonn’s memories of the launch aren’t as fond and loving as he was actually made redundant from his job ‘Open Air’ because of how successful rival ‘This Morning’ was.
He teased: “So what does this show mean to me? It lost me my job! I was made redundant because this show was so successful. We were on a show called ‘Open Air’ and it had the airwaves to itself on daytime TV. Then ‘This Morning’ came along a year later and we lasted another year and then that was it because ‘This Morning’ was so successful. And the thing that this show does and has done all that time, it informs, it educates and it entertains. It’s actually great fun. There is nothing like this on TV.”
