Richard Ashcroft announces 2019 headline tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Ashcroft will play the London Olympia next year as part of a tour across the UK and Ireland.
The Verve singer has announced details of a huge headline run in April and May 2019, which will culminate with the first concert at the historic venue since Primal Scream hit the stage in 2010.
The tour will kick off on April 19 at the Guildhall in Portsmouth before moving on to dates in Cardiff, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Dublin, Doncaster and Leicester before the final performance in London.

To mark the announcement on Friday (05.10.18), the star unveiled new acoustic single ‘Hey Columbo’, and joked it isn’t one for the whole family.
He said: “Warning: This song contains explicit language. Do not play on the school run, but turn it up on the way home.”
The exciting news comes after Richard hailed music as “the most powerful art form in the world”.
He recently said: “This is why music is still the most powerful art form in the world. It’s something that unifies us, it’s not something that polarizes us.
“And right now, that’s what these gigs – great concerts, great artists – that’s all we’ve got really, because everything else just seems to separate us. Music’s really powerful right now, and really important more than ever. I’m excited to be part of it.”

Lila Grace Moss is new face of Marc Jacobs

OHMYGOSSIP — Lila Grace Moss has been unveiled as the new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty – less than a week after celebrating her 16th birthday.
The teenage model – whose parents are supermodel Kate Moss and her ex, magazine editor Jefferson Hack – has been announced as the brand’s latest ambassador and the first image from her shoot has been unveiled on the official Marc Jacobs Instagram account.
In the photo, Lila is seen modelling a bold purple cat-eye and a glossy nude lip with her look created by makeup artist Diane Kendal.
Jacobs admits he was impressed with Lila’s “strong character” and “demeanour” when he first met her when she was just six years old and when she was on set for her but shoot it “brought back memories of the first time” he met her mother Kate.
In the accompanying Instagram caption, he said: “When I met Lila Grace for the first time in 2008, I was on a holiday in Ibiza and went to Formentera for the day to visit with her mom, Kate Moss, and other friends and family.
“At just six years old, Lila’s strong character, demeanour and great beauty was already very apparent. The next time I saw Lila was in August of 2011 at Kate’s wedding, her character was even more dynamic and her beauty even greater.
“This past July is that last time I saw Lila, when Kate brought her to the set of our Marc Jacobs Beauty campaign shoot with David Sims.
“It was a bit surreal to have Kate in the studio with Lila as it brought back memories of the first time I met Kate when she was 18 years old and cast to walk for the Perry Ellis spring/summer 1993 grunge collection.”
Lila can remember the first time she used a Marc Jacobs product and admits she likes to experiment with makeup to give herself confidence.
The teenager said: “I love his make-up! Especially the bronzers. Make-up can give you confidence and make you feel better about yourself
“A few years ago my mum gave me a Marc Jacobs perfume, Daisy, and I’ve loved it ever since. Shooting the campaign in New York was a really fun experience.”

Rob Mallard wants Denise Black to return to Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Mallard wants Denise Black to return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 26-year-old actor – who portrays Daniel Osbourne in the long-running soap – is so desperate to have the 60-year-old actress reprise her role as his on-screen mother Denise Osbourne on the show that the pair have been pitching ideas to producers because they believe there’s so much background to explore.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “Absolutely. Two reasons, one there’s so much information and story in their relationship that we don’t know anything about.
“Me and Denise Black had some ideas about that and we pitched it, which is all we can do. But the second thing is that I’d love Denise to come and stay with me again for a bit because she’s a great laugh!”
Although bosses don’t seem eager to follow through with the pair’s pitch at the moment, there could be an opportunity for Denise to return this year as Rob is just about to get his teeth into a heartbreaking cancer/pregnancy storyline.
The hunk’s alter ego has just found out that his girlfriend Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) is 12 weeks pregnant with his baby, but little does he know that she’s been experiencing bleeding over the last three months that she’s been ignoring.
The couple arrived at their first scan in last night’s (03.10.18) episode and were over the moon to find out that the baby was healthy with “long legs.”
However, once the scan was over, Sinead sent Daniel off while she secretly informed the sonographer that she has been having vaginal bleeding.
After being examined by two doctors – including a gynaecologist – Sinead is told she has a lump on her cervix and she needs to have a biopsy done “ASAP.”
The doctors then inform her that the lump may be cervical cancer.

Michelle Williams to play Christa McAuliffe in The Challenger

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Williams is set to play astronaut Christa McAuliffe in ‘The Challenger’.
The 38-year-old actress will star in the Martin Zandvliet-directed movie about the 1986 space shuttle tragedy, with production expected to begin in 2019, Deadline reports.
Producer Ben Renzo said: “We are more than humbled and extremely grateful for the opportunity to help tell the story of Christa McAuliffe and the Challenger mission.”
The movie will tell the true story of the high school teacher who was selected to join NASA’s Teacher in Space Project.
Eventually, McAuliffe became part of the crew on-board the Space Shuttle Challenger, which exploded 73 seconds after takeoff, killing everyone on board.
Ben added: “Christa McAuliffe’s legacy deserves the strength, courage, experience and humanity that Michelle Williams brings to the role.
“The entire Argent Pictures team is honoured and eager to responsibly capture and share the events and personal journeys of those surrounding this important historical moment with audiences around the world to help remember and further appreciate the sacrifices Christa and rest of the Challenger crew made to further our journey into space.”
Meanwhile, Michelle – who is a four-time Oscar nominee – is next set to star alongside Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed in ‘Venom’.
The acclaimed actress plays a district attorney and Tom’s on-screen girlfriend in the new superhero movie, which is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.

Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan were kept apart on set

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan were deliberately kept apart on the set of ‘Mary Queen of Scots’.
The Australian actress – who stars as Queen Elizabeth I – and Saoirse, 24 – who plays the Scottish royal – both appear in the new historical drama, but director Josie Rourke has revealed the unusual way she tried to create on-screen tension between the duo in a climactic seven-minute scene.
Speaking to metro.co.uk, Josie explained: “Working with Margot and Saoirse – we worked with them differently than I would do in the theatre.
“We kept them apart when they were doing that scene together. They only meet once in the film so the film drives towards this climactic scene.
“When they look each other in the eye during that scene, they’re looking at each other as those characters for the first time and we managed to capture that on film in the most extraordinary way.”
Josie is best known for her theatre work, and the director is thrilled that she’s been able to bring her usual approach to the big screen.
Reflecting on the dramatic final scene, she said: “That’s the amazing thing for me as a theatre director because I see these moments in rehearsals but when I show it to the audience for the first time in a theatre, we’ve already been through it in rehearsals.
“To capture the magic of that and the coming together in that moment and to have it immortalised is an incredibly wonderful thing.”

Foo Fighters tease Nirvana reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Foo Fighters have teased a Nirvana reunion for this weekend’s CalJam festival.
The ‘Best of Me’ hitmakers feature both Dave Grohl and Pat Smear – who were both part of the legendary grunge group – and will be performing at the event on the same line-up as former bandmate Krist Novoselic’s band Giants In The Trees.
A couple of cryptic tweets have got fans talking, initially after the band responded to an announcement regarding Joan Jett’s ‘Bad Reputation’ documentary airing during the festival in California.
They wrote: “CAN’T WAIT!!!! What else could we have up our sleeves?? Stay tuned…. #CalJam18”
The ‘I Love Rock & Roll’ singer joined Nirvana – whose frontman Kurt Cobain tragically took his own life in 1994 aged 27 – as a backing singer when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame four years ago.
Deer Tick singer John McCauley also performed that night, and he will be part of the bill over the weekend with his own group Deer Tick.
Adding fuel to the fire, just a few hours after the initial tweet, Foo Fighters shared a clip from that very performance.
They simply captioned it: “This is a Jam @caljamfest#CalJam18 (sic)”
The potential surprise comes after bassist Krist hit out at fans claiming it wasn’t a full reunion when he joined Dave and Pat on stage earlier this year to perform The Vaselines’ ‘Molly’s Lips’.
After tweets suggesting it’s not the same without Kurt , he sarcastically responded: “We tried to get a hold of him for this gig — as many times as we tried to contact Kurt, we couldn’t get through. The phone just kept ringing & ringing.
“Kurt does not have email. In fact I have never emailed him in my life and I have been online since 1993.”

Ross Adams pushed for Claire King’s Emmerdale comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Adams pushed for Claire King’s ‘Emmerdale’ return “years ago”.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ star – who plays Scott Drinkwell on the E4 show – has opened up on the actress’ upcoming comeback as Kim Tate next week, and revealed it could have happened much earlier when he was working as a storyliner on the ITV soap.
Writing in his latest column for OK! Magazine he said: “Years ago, when I was storylining ‘Emmerdale’, I actually pitched a story for Kim Tate’s comeback – which at the time didn’t happen, but I’m so glad it now finally is.”
He bumped into Claire at the TV Choice Awards last month, and he was “super excited” to hear about her return, while admitting Kim is amongst his favourite ever soap villains.
He added: “Her character, Kim Tate, was one of my all time favourite soap villains EVER, and seeing the promo this week on TV announcing her return has got me ridiculously giddy and I can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for her.”
The pair previously appeared together in BBC comedy ‘The Gemma Factor’ – in which she played his mum – and it appears they have remained friends ever since.
He said: “We’ve stayed in touch ever since and it was so nice to see her again and catch up.”
His comments come after Claire revealed she knew about her ‘Emmerdale’ return for “about a year”.
She recently said: “I left ‘Corrie’ in 2017 and had to wait until things settled down a bit as I needed some time in between, but I’ve known I was coming back to ‘Emmerdale’ for about a year. It’s been really hard to stay quiet – I did tell my parents and my partner, but no one else. Now it’s out friends are furiously texting me!”

Sir David Attenborough can’t cook

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Attenborough lives with his daughter because he can’t cook for himself.
The 92-year-old naturalist doesn’t think he would’ve been able to get through the tragic passing of his wife Jane Elizabeth Ebsworth Oriel in 1997 if his daughter Susan hadn’t moved in to make sure he was eating properly and keeping up with the duties around the house because he’s not very “domesticated.”
Speaking to the Express newspaper, he said: “Losing your wife is a traumatic and devastating experience. It changed my life profoundly of course. On the other hand my son and daughter were grown up and established in their various careers. I am not very domesticated. I am no sort of cook. My daughter, who’s head of a primary school, soon came to sort me out in terms of cooking in one form or another. She now runs the house. That is a blessing and a godsend for which I am profoundly grateful. I am very very lucky.”
And the ‘Blue Planet’ presenter is no doubt pleased to spend as much time with his daughter as possible as he previously admitted that he deeply regrets missing out on his children’s lives while he was away working for three months at a time.
David – who also has son Robert – said: “I was away for three months at a time.
“If you have a child of six or eight and you miss three months of his or her life, it’s irreplaceable; you miss something.”
Meanwhile, although he’s in the ninth decade of his life, David has no plans to retire any time soon – even though he thinks about death on a “daily basis.”
He said recently: “Not in a morbid kind of way but I suppose in an observational kind of way. I have no intention of retiring, as long as I can do the job and anybody wants me to. Who wouldn’t go on? It is a joy and a huge privilege.”

Roman Kemp to front new music game show

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp is set to front a new music game show.
The 25-year-old radio host – whose father is Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp – was left red faced last year when his ITV2 show ‘Bromans’ was dropped after just one series, but he hasn’t let that stop him from pursuing his presenting career as he’s reportedly been asked to front the forthcoming programme ‘Title Fight’.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Producers are excited about the show and think the cast’s chemistry is on point, they’re hoping it’ll be a big hit. Roman fancies himself as the new Dermot O’Leary and is putting all his energy into TV presenting.”
‘Title Fight’ will also be presented by comedian Joel Dommett and Maya Jama as two special guests are put through their paces and tested on their musical knowledge in the hope of getting their favourite-ever song on Roman’s playlist.
Before he wiggled his way onto radio and then onto the small screen, Roman used to scrub toilets for a living because his parents refused to help him out.
He explained recently: “My parents were very up on me and my sister earning our own whack. Sitting on your a**e wasn’t a thing in our house . Even if I’d work odd jobs all week when I was trying to make it as a presenter, if my dad saw me sitting down he’d say, ‘Get in the garden and film something. Email people! Use this time.’
“I used to clean toilets at the local gym. I never officially left that job, so technically I still work there. But it was to tide me over while I followed my dream.”
It was actually Roman’s mother Shirlie Holliman who encouraged him to present.
He said: “My mum sat me down and asked what I wanted to do and I said I wanted to be a TV presenter. She said, ‘Well, how are you going to do that?’ I said I didn’t know anyone in that industry. She said, ‘Go out and find them then.’ I worked with my sister on the side (photographer Harley Moon Kemp) to earn enough for the train fare to London and I went for it. A lot of people think I had a leg-up in the industry, but it was never like that. I whored myself out everywhere and the rest is history.”

Blackadder won’t return

OHMYGOSSIP — Rowan Atkinson thinks it’s “highly unlikely” ‘Blackadder’ will return.
The 63-year-old comedian – who played anti-hero Edmund Blackadder in the sitcom from 1983 until 1989 – has admitted that although it would be fun to reunite with his co-star Tony Robinson, who portrayed his side kick Baldrick, there are currently no plans to revive the popular 80s show.
Speaking to talkRadio at the London premiere of ‘Johnny English Strikes Again’ at the Curzon hotel in Mayfair, he said: “I think it’s highly unlikely.
“Tony, unfortunately, gets quoted as saying these things when he didn’t really say it he just sometimes thinks you know wouldn’t it be fun.
“But it’s not an indication unfortunately that there are any plans to bring the ‘Blackadder’ back, there are no plans but I think it’s highly unlikely.”
Speculation of a remake began to circulate over the summer when Tony, 72, admitted that he could see a “version of the show” coming back in the future.
He said at the time: “I do see a version of the show coming back. There are a host of other periods in history which could be turned into a six-part ‘Blackadder’ series. We’d have to get the old group back together again.
“I know everyone is busy doing wonderful things, but we all have fond memories so I’m sure we would work it out.”
Each series of ‘Blackadder’ covered a different period of history, including the Middle Ages, Elizabethan England, the Georgian Era and a run of episodes focused on the trenches during World War One.
The cast also featured the likes of Tim McInnemy, Stephen Fry and the late Rik Mayall.
Last year, Tony suggested Dustin Hoffman could take over his role of Baldrick if the show was ever remade.
He said: “If anyone else were to play Baldrick, I would choose Dustin Hoffman. I’ve just always thought that, as a performer, [Hoffman] was a kindred spirit.”

PM Theresa May to do Strictly Come Dancing?

OHMYGOSSIP — Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice wants Theresa May to do the show next year.
The professional dancer – who has worked on the ballroom and latin series since 2015 – would love to see the British Prime Minister follow in former Labour MP Ed Balls’ footsteps and show off her fancy footwork after she hit the headlines yesterday (03.10.18) when she walked out on stage to give a big conference speech while boogying to Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (04.10.18), the 28-year-old hunk said: “I mean, look at her. She can walk on time. Confident, absolutely. Theresa, I’m here, see you on ‘Strictly’!”
However, at the moment, Giovanni is trying to perfect his routines with Steps’ Faye Tozer so that the pair are in with a chance of lifting this year’s famous glitterball trophy after he got so close to winning last year with his then-partner Debbie McGee.
Faye, 42, explained: “When we first danced together, the first time I danced with you I felt really secure and you swap around and you’re like, ‘Oh I quite like you, and I quite like you.’ ”
Giovanni added: “You know, the thing is you want a good time on the show.
“I got inspired this year. I did something different.”
And, although the show is known for its infamous curse – which sees celebrities leave their spouses in order to strike up a romantic relationship with the ‘Strictly’ partners – Faye is adamant that there’s nothing more than friendship between her and Giovanni.
And, actually, the Italian heartthrob has even developed a “bromance” with her husband Michael Smith and the pair have started attending football matches together.
The blonde beauty said: “I think there’s a bromance going on.”

Prince Harry offers to take Meghan to Butlin’s

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry wants to take Duchess Meghan to Butlin’s.
The 34-year-old royal may be used to luxury vacations around the world, but he’s keen to take his new wife to the holiday camp after catching a glimpse of the company’s Bognor Regis resort during a tour of the University of Chichester on Wednesday (03.10.18).
Harry had spotted the peaks of a large white tent, and was surprised when he was told it was a Butlin’s resort.
He replied: “We’ll have to go! I love it, it looks like a circus.”
And the holiday company were quick to reach out to the couple, and even suggested they might want to bring along their young nephews Prince George, five, and Prince Louis, five months, and three-year-old niece Princess Charlotte.
They tweeted: “He’s welcome anytime! George, Charlotte and Louis would love our Just for Tots breaks (sic)”
Butlin’s later shared a photograph from 1963 of Harry’s grandparents, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, touring one of the resorts with founder Billy Butlin.
They tweeted: “We’d love to welcome #HarryandMegan to resort. They’d be following in another famous Royal couple’s footsteps…(sic)”
Harry and Meghan’s visit on Wednesday was their first official trip to Sussex, the county which features in the Duke and Duchess titles they were given by the queen after their marriage in May.
During the trip, the former ‘Suits’ actress was shown the local copy of her home country’s Declaration Of Independence.
She and her husband also met with local children, and the prince advised two young boys to change their gaming habits.
Harry was speaking to eight-year-old Ziad and Eren from Queen’s Park Primary School outside the Royal Pavillion in Brighton when they asked if he played ‘Fortnite’, which has an age range of over 12s.
The boys revealed afterwards Harry had told them children of their age should play different games, but he approved of ‘Minecraft’.
Year Four teacher Emma Johnston said: “‘He was saying that it’s a concern of his, children playing the game before they are allowed to. We were saying that as a school it’s a concern for us too.”
The school group made the couple laugh with questions such as, “How big is your palace?” and “Can I have your phone number?”

Kate Garraway thought she had meningitis

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway thought she had meningitis.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter returned to the breakfast show this morning (04.10.18) following two weeks off sick after she fell ill while backstage last month and had to be rushed to hospital with a temperature of “40” and a piercing headache.
Recalling her health scare, she said: “I came in Friday before last and I couldn’t look at the lights and I had a temperature over 40. I said: ‘I’ll be fine’ but the director said, ‘Even you can’t make this funny, Kate, there is no way you can do the show, we can’t turn the lights off.’ Actually I went straight to the hospital. They were thinking meningitis, fortunately it wasn’t, and they sorted me out and I was fine.
“Can I just say the Whittington Hospital [in north London], can I tell you how brilliant they were, they saw me straight away and got me on a drip.”
Kate was supposed to be hosting The North London Health Star Awards at the same hospital that night and the doctors joked that they could “wheel” her from the ward.
She explained: “But then he looked at my notes and said, ‘No you are way too ill.’ ”
Although they were initially concerned that the 51-year-old star had contracted meningitis – an infection of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord that can lead to death if left untreated – it transpired she had a bug.
This isn’t the first health scare Kate has had recently, as back in August she was rushed to hospital, had her phone stolen and her car towed – all in one week.
She said at the time: “The week’s been a bit of a mess. On the way back from holiday my phone was stolen at the airport. And you know what it’s like when you’re entire life is on your phone? By the way, Mum, I am back. I still haven’t got hold of my mum. Also, I was a bit poorly, ended up having to go to the hospital this week. Was in longer than I thought. I thought it was going to be a quick thing. I came out, knew it was going to be a ticket in the car park on my car. Towed away!
“Towed away and because I was in a bit of a state, I was walking around thinking, ‘Did I leave it there?’ So I lost my car, a phone, and my health.”

Jodie Comer loves her Killing Eve character’s wardrobe

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Comer loves her ‘Killing Eve’ character’s wardrobe as she “dresses for herself”.
The 25-year-old actress thinks her quirky assassin alter ego Villanelle from the BBC series doesn’t have a particular style and has praised show’s costume designer, Phoebe de Gaye for her bold fashion choices.
In an interview with Vogue, she said: “What I love about Villanelle is that I don’t think she has a particular style. I feel like she’ll buy things just because she likes them, whereas if you looked at my wardrobe from the past five years there’s an obvious trend, a theme running through it.
“She dresses for herself and no one else, that’s what was great about Phoebe de Gaye she chose things that I would never normally pick up or try on.
“It was always just wonderful because it would depend what city she is in, and that would influence the way that she dressed.”
The drama series was written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge – who created comedy series ‘Fleabag’ – and Jodie insists being around the 33-year-old writer-and-actress is “good for your soul”.
She said: “There is only one Phoebe Waller-Bridge, you meet so many people in your life and you know when you’re like; I’ll never meet anyone else like you. She’s completely herself and to be around that is very good for your soul, because it’s so refreshing.”
Jodie – who stars in ‘Killing Eve’ with Sandra Oh, who plays MI5 officer Eve Polastri – admits there aren’t many roles which allow an actress to explore so many different personality traits and she found her entire journey with Villanelle to be very exciting.
She said: “She’s just so full of life and to be able to explore that and not hold back, to just push it and push it and push it.”

Dermot O’Leary wants Ant and Dec to win NTA

OHMYGOSSIP — Dermot O’Leary would rather Ant McPartlin got better than him win a National Television Award.
The ‘X Factor’ presenter has missed out on scooping the Most Popular Presenter gong at the prestigious ceremony for the last 17 years because Ant and his partner Dec Donnelly always win it, but this year it’s been thrown open to all contenders as the 42-year-old presenter has been on a self-imposed hiatus since he was involved in a drink-driving crash earlier this year.
However, Dermot, 45, is adamant he has no plans to sweep in a claim the prize for himself this year as he would rather see Ant – who checked into rehab earlier this year – make a comeback.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: “We just want Ant to get better and come back. I’m in this game because I love my job. But I’d much rather see Ant come back and be healthy than win a National Television Award. I didn’t make the shortlist last year so I’m not banking on it.”
Since Ant has pulled out of his work duties, Dec has been covering their projects – such as ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ – by himself, but he’ll be joined by Holly Willoughby next month when ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ returns for another series Down Under.
But, before she agreed to take on the role, Holly spoke with Ant to make sure he was happy.
She said recently: “He was part of the discussion from the off. He’s happy that I’m looking after it until he gets back. It does help that we all know each other.”
Holly’s husband Dan Baldwin will take their children, Harry, nine, Belle, seven, and four-year-old Chester, out to Australia while she’s filming the show as her main concern in taking on the job was being separated from her family for a month.
She explained: “Dan will bring them out, so it’s a little adventure for them as well. It was an issue. I don’t think I could have left them for that long. Obviously they’re going to have a tutor, but their school was really understanding. They’ve never been to Australia, but they have some Australian friends at school who’ve been telling them all about the giant spiders that live down the toilet, so they’ve been calling them bum-eating spiders.”

Mark Little teases James Jordan over Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Little has teased he’ll be “keeping an eye” on James Jordan on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The former ‘Neighbours’ actor – who played Joe Mangel on the Australian soap from 1988 and 1991, with a brief return in 2005 – has just been confirmed as the eighth celebrity to take part in the skating show when it returns to screens next year.
And, although he’s convinced the former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional is a strong contender to win the show because of his performance background, Mark is adamant he’ll give the hunk a run for his money because it’s in his “Australian DNA.”
Speaking on today’s (04.10.18) Build Series London, he said: “I’ll be keeping a little eye on him. It all depends on how much he’s skated. If he was an ice dancer, then I would think [differently]. I don’t know if it’s to do with my Australian DNA or something, but I’m in it to win it. I’ve got a competitive edge. And I think he’s the same. If he’s not skated before, he’ll know the dangers and it won’t be as easy for him.
“For me, it’s good, because it makes me think, ‘I’m really going to have to lift my game if I’m going to get ahead in this, because there’s a dancer in the mix’.”
Despite his competitiveness, Mark knows he’ll be riddled with nerves when he hits the rink.
He explained: “I’m not a youngster. But it’s not about age, it’s about poise!
“I think it’s a real shame that we don’t do more of it – dancing – because it’s a good social… it’s really good for the soul. Everybody can dance. Bad dancing is still dancing!
“There’ll be performance anxiety, but it’s the reason I love this job – this fear factor of going out and performing and doing a good job with all of the work we’ve done and trying to make it as easy and gorgeous as possible. It’s going to be really exciting.”
As well as James and Mark, Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thornton, TOWIE’s Gemma Collins, Boyzone’s Brian McFadden, Loose Women’s Saira Khan, former ‘EastEnders’ star Richard Blackwood and cricketer Ryan Sidebottom have also been confirmed for the new series, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
‘Dancing on Ice’ will return to screens in January on ITV.
