Ditching booze helped Florence Welch write new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Welch became more creative when she stopped drinking.
The 32-year-old singer – who fronts Florence + The Machine -revealed she was forced to stop drinking alcohol as she was a “party monster”, and it became easier to work on the band’s latest album ‘High As Hope’ once she was sober.
In an interview with Elle, she said: “I’d gone through a lifestyle change — as in, I’d had to stop drinking. I was a party monster and it was getting to the stage where I was just mashing myself to bits all the time.
“The scariest thing is, I used to think what made me creative was the fact I was a big hedonist. But towards the end, it was actually quite hard to make songs because I was in so much pain and all I was writing about was: ‘How do I get out of this trap?’
“The theme of my writing was like: ‘I’m stuck, I’m f***ed, I don’t know how to make this stop. Help, help, help!’ ”
By making a big lifestyle change, it meant a shift in Florence’s songwriting and she was delighted that it has been accepted by her fans.
She explained: “I sort of stopped [the abuse] just before I made the track ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.’ To show people this side of yourself, which is so frightening to you, and for people to accept it with love, and to sing it with people, was a really big catharsis.
“So I just found that my brain was more open. I just kind of wrote it down and let it all go.”
The ‘Shake It Out’ hitmaker has opened up about drinking in the past, and confessed it was a way for her to cope with rising to fame back in 2009.
She previously said: “That’s when the drinking and the partying exploded, as a way to hide from it. I was drunk a lot of the time, on extra dirty Martinis – my way of drinking three shots at once. I was never interested in ‘a nice glass of wine’.”

Bella Hadid sticks to low carb diet

OHMYGOSSIP — Bella Hadid’s nutritionist has revealed the diet the model sticks to in order to maintain her catwalk ready figure.
To be in the best possible shape for the runway, the 21-year-old star sticks to a high protein low carbohydrate diet which includes lots of lean meat and fish, non-starchy vegetables and foods packed with healthy fats such as nuts and avocado.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Dr. Charles Passler said: “It’s adequate protein, adequate fat, and lots and lots and lots of non-starchy vegetables. That is typically the most bulletproof, easiest, soundproof way to make sure that somebody stays on track.
“If you eat a lot of carbohydrates, with your protein and your fat, the body’s going to use the carbohydrates for fuel first.”
“The body loves using carbs for fuel. So the body’s going to soak up all of those carbs, and if then you don’t need any more fuel, the body’s going to just turn the extra calories from the fat and the protein into body fat. So by eliminating the carbohydrates, and consuming the protein and the fat, it not only keeps your calories down, but it keeps your energy stable.”
Dr. Passler insists the only way to maintain a healthy balance in your body like Bella – whose older sister is fellow model Gigi Hadid – is to change your lifestyle to make healthier choices.
He said: “It’s really about accepting a reality that it’s time to change your lifestyle. You’re just a person that does not drink soda – I don’t care if you’re at a birthday party, and that’s all they have, then don’t drink anything. I don’t care if you’re the person that loves pizza, well, just minimise the pizza intake, or minimise the refined sugar intake.
“In order for somebody to be consistently healthy, the biggest key is to engage in a lifestyle that allows you to own that permanently.”

Jane Danson ‘thrilled’ to have Ben Price back on Corrie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Danson is “thrilled” to have Ben Price back on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 39-year-old actress – who plays Leanne Battersby in the long-running soap – is thrilled that the 46-year-old actor is reprising his role as her on/off love interest Nick Tilsley later this year because he’s such a “well-loved character.”
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Thursday (04.10.18), she said: “It’s just fantastic news because he’s such a well-loved character and Ben is so loved amongst the cast so we’re all thrilled to have him back – especially me!”
It’s not yet known whether Ben’s comeback storyline will involve Jane’s alter-ego Leanne but she has admitted that early next year her character won’t be seen on screens as much because she’s just signed up to ‘Dancing on Ice’.
She explained: “Well, she’s not going too far. I will still be there but not as much as I usually am because obviously it’s a huge commitment. I’m going to have a quieter patch within the story but not at the moment because we’ve just filmed a really busy stuff that comes on next week. It’s a big week next week for Leanne but after that, because of the way it’s going Leanne can take a bit of time away.”
Leanne seems to be going through a bit of a man-eater patch at the moment as she’s just ended her affair with Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) after she found out that he was also bedding her sister Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).
And, last week, the blonde beauty ended up in bed with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) after the cab driver’s fiancee Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) gave him a “free pass” – which he thought meant he could cheat – ahead of their big day.
That’s not the first time Leanne and Steve have got down and dirty together as they pulled a similar stunt two years ago when the bumbling idiot was married to Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) – resulting in Leanne falling pregnant.

Casualty’s Connie Beauchamp and Jacob Masters to get back together?

OHMYGOSSIP — Casualty’s Connie Beauchamp and Jacob Masters may get back together.
Fans were left devastated last year when the couple split up for the third time after the consultant – played by Amanda Mealing – put in a complaint about Elle Gardner (Jaye Griffiths), the mother of Jacob’s son Blake, but it looks like their love affair is far from over as Charles Venn, who plays the hunk, has teased a reunion.
Speaking to the Metro.co.uk, he said when pressed on the possibility of a reunion: “There is always a possibility, always a possibility. I fully embrace it and I look forward to that potentially happening! We’re going to find out.”
However, it’s highly unlikely that it’ll be happening this side of Christmas as Charles is currently taking part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, which means his scenes on the medical drama have been reduced to ensure he has enough time to rehearse.
And, although he’s only been doing the ballroom and latin show for the past few weeks, he’s already noticed his waist shrinking because his professional partner Karen Clifton has been putting him through his paces.
The 45-year-old actor said recently: “This is my first time being asked to do the show, and I jumped at it. I’m hoping to master a few dance skills, and hopefully get as far as I can. I’ve seen Karen [Clifton] do her thing on the dancefloor and know she’s going to whip me into shape. I’ve already started dropping weight and seeing muscle definition I haven’t seen in years.”

Top Gun: Maverick adds Kara Wang to the cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Kara Wang and Jack Schumacher have joined the cast of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
‘Good’ Trouble actress Kara and ‘Chicago P.D’ actor Jack will play pilots in the action blockbuster and are amongst seven, and final, new additions to sign up to Paramount and Skydance Media’s sequel to the 1986 original.
The other actors joining the movie are Jake Picking, Raymond Lee, Jean Louisa Kelly, Lyliana Wray and Greg Tarzan who join an all-star cast that boasts Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Monica Barbaro, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Ed Harris and Jon Hamm.
The sequel is set 34 years after the original hit the big screen and will focus on modern drone warfare and explore the end of the dogfighting era.
Cruise and Kilmer are back as their characters from the original, Maverick and Iceman, whilst Teller is to play the son of Goose – Maverick’s wingman who was played by Anthony Edwards in the original movie.
Joseph Kosinski is on board to direct and has teased that the plot will focus on Maverick’s service in the modern military.
He said: “The navy is very different now than it was in 1986. Back then, they hadn’t been in any war for 15 or 20 years at that point.
“Now, here in 2017, the Navy’s been at war for 20 years. It’s just a different world now, so you can’t remake the first movie. It has to adapt.”
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ was initially scheduled for a July 2019 release, but it was announced this week that the movie has been pushed back by just over 11 months for a June 2020 arrival in theatres.
Paramount Pictures made the decision so the team will have extra time to figure out the logistics of the flight sequences.

The ‘Malibu’ singer – who has 26-year-old daughter Frances Bean Cobain from her relationship with Kurt – announced the collection to her fans on Instagram and previewed a select few campaign images.
She wrote: “courtneylove #Repost @midnightstudios

The exclusive collection contains a variety of layered looks and long-line t-shirts, one features a check print with a black and white photo of Love’s face with an off-white ruffled skirt.
Meanwhile, Courtney’s former Hole bandmate Melissa Auf der Maur will be directing a special tribute night to the vocalist later this month in New York and will be joined by ‘American Horror Story Actress’ Chloe Sevigny, REM frontman Michael Stipe and celebrity photographer Ryan McGinley.
Speaking to NME, Melissa said: “Honestly, the event that we’re honouring Courtney with, Pioneering People, we did it once with John Waters, once with Rufus Wainwright.
“Earlier this year I realised it’s gotta be a woman. So it occurred to me, well, Courtney’s a pioneer. And Courtney deserves a creative bouquet of honouring.
“She’s one of the most misunderstood, wild card, strange individuals, and Hole’s legacy is important to me, as far as it being looked at with the respect it deserves and the impact it made. The impact is very real. The #MeToo moments, Courtney was always saying this stuff.”

Jon Favreau’s Star Wars spin-off gets title and synposis

OHMYGOSSIP — Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ spin-off will be titled ‘The Mandalorian’.
The upcoming TV series is being developed for the company’s own streaming service with ‘Iron Man’ director Jon Favreau writing and producing.
Taking to social media, Favreau confirmed the name of the show and revealed a synopsis which read: “After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the ‘Star Wars’ universe.
“‘The Mandalorian’ is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follows the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
Favreau previously confirmed his series will take place after the Battle of Endor in ‘Return of the Jedi’, and before the sequel trilogy which began with ‘The Force Awakens’.
Meanwhile, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has praised the ‘Jungle Book’ filmmaker and promised the show will feature a “diverse group of writers and directors”.
She said in a statement: “I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform.
“Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”
The spin-off is set to be a big part of Disney’s launch for its streaming platform – alongside possible Marvel projects focused on Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch- which is set to be available in 2019

Ryan Gosling’s out-of-this-world job

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling’s daughters think he works on the moon.
The 37-year-old actor – who has Esmeralda, four, and two-year-old Amada, with partner Eva Mendes – admitted his kids got confused about his career after visiting him on the set of ‘First Man’, in which he plays astronaut Neil Armstrong.
He told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel: “They came to set. They came on this day where I was shooting a launch scene, so I was in the space suit and pretending to launch.
“I think they think I’m an astronaut now. My oldest said the other day, she pointed to the moon and said, ‘That’s where you work, right?’ ”
Eva, 44, recently admitted she and Ryan have been happy to let the girls think the actor is an astronaut.
She said: “They now think papi’s an astronaut! We haven’t corrected them yet, we’re just like, ‘Cool!’ ”
Meanwhile, Ryan recently admitted he felt under pressure about playing the first man to walk on the moon, particularly when it came to saying Armstrong’s iconic line about taking a “giant leap for mankind”.
Ryan confessed: “I was worried about it. It hung over me as it is the most famous line, and a beautiful thing to say.
“Neil didn’t think about it ahead of time, so I tried not to think about it too much.”
The Hollywood star went through an extensive training process in preparation for the unusual role but the real-life experiences of astronauts put his own stresses into perspective.
He explained: “I went into a multi-axis trainer and don’t remember much about it.
“The director asked for more speed which I hated. But it was hard to complain when there were men on the set that would say, ‘You know when I went to the moon.'”

Miranda Kerr wants to have another baby

OHMYGOSSIP — Miranda Kerr is thinking about having another baby.
The 35-year-old model gave birth to her son Hart, who she shares with husband Evan Spiegel, in May and she also has seven-year-old Flynn with her former partner Orlando Bloom, but she spilled on ‘The Kyle and Jackie O Show’ on Australian station KIIS 106.5 that she’s keen to expand her brood.
When Jackie asked Miranda how she was finding life with her new baby, Miranda said: “I love being a mum.”
When asked if she would have another child, she emphatically said: “Yes!”
Although she already has two boys, Miranda doesn’t mind what gender her future child is as long as they are healthy.
She said: “I don’t mind really, just healthy babies, I do like having boys, there’s something about it. I don’t know because I haven’t had a girl but I’m really happy with having a boy.”
Miranda has previously described being a parent as being a “huge honour” and something that brings out the best in people.
When asked about the biggest challenge of parenting, she said: “I think it’s the responsibility of raising a child to be the best version of themselves. Thinking back, the sleep deprivation for the first year was pretty challenging too! But the sleepless nights were well worth it.
“Being a mother is just a huge honour. My favourite part of the day is picking Flynn up from school. Seeing his little face light up when he sees me! It is joy and love in the purest form. It’s just magical seeing him grow and develop his own personality.”

Holly Willoughby being paid ‘six-figure sum’ to present I’m A Celeb

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby has reportedly been paid a “six-figure sum” to present ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The ‘This Morning’ host has agreed to front the new series of the creepy-crawly show alongside Dec Donnelly after his co-star Ant McPartlin pulled out of all of his work commitments earlier this year when he was found guilty of drink-driving.
And, although bosses were certain they wanted the 37-year-old beauty to take on the role, they were determined to make her a cash offer she couldn’t refuse.
A source told The Sun Online: “Holly was the first choice to stand in for Ant on the show and the six figure offer reflected how much they wanted to get her on board.
“She’s so popular and she’s got a great relationship with Dec, it was a no brainer. Holly’s worth her weight in gold and the fee reflects that.”
Despite being offered the generous amount, Holly admitted last month that she took some persuading to accept the job because she didn’t want to leave her three children – Harry, nine, Belle, seven, and Chester, four – for a month.
She said at the time: “Dan will bring them out, so it’s a little adventure for them as well. It was an issue. I don’t think I could have left them for that long. Obviously they’re going to have a tutor, but their school was really understanding. They’ve never been to Australia, but they have some Australian friends at school who’ve been telling them all about the giant spiders that live down the toilet, so they’ve been calling them bum-eating spiders.”
Holly also wanted to make sure Ant – who checked into rehab earlier this year – was happy for her to stand in for him because she didn’t want to step on his toes.
She explained: “He was part of the discussion from the off. He’s happy that I’m looking after it until he gets back. It does help that we all know each other.”

Saara Aalto joins Dancing on Ice?

OHMYGOSSIP — Saara Aalto has reportedly signed up to ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The ‘X Factor’ runner-up – who missed out on the winning record deal to Matt Terry in 2016 but has had huge success ever since – will be back on screens next year after she agreed to take part in the forthcoming series of the skating show.
A source told The Sun Online: “After Jake Quickenden won the show last year bosses were keen to sign up another ‘X Factor’ star.
“They’re sure Saara’s showmanship and bubbly personality will translate to the rink and are delighted she said yes.”
However, although she won over the hearts of the nation with her incredible vocals, Saara will need to work hard if she’s to lift the famous trophy at the end as she will be going up against some strong contenders; including former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional James Jordan and TOWIE’s Gemma Collins.
Also confirmed for next year’s line-up is Westlife’s Brian McFadden, Loose Women’s Saira Khan, former ‘EastEnders’ hunk Richard Blackwood, Melody Thornton, ex-‘Neighbours’ star Mark Little, and cricketer Ryan Sidebottom.
Earlier today, Coronation Street’s Jane Danson became the ninth celebrity to confirm her spot on the line-up as she admitted she’s “excited” for the challenge.
She said: “I’ve known since July so quite a while, so I’ve had to keep it under my hat for a long time. The next few days I’ll be starting the training.
“I can skate a little bit. I think, obviously, when you take on something like this, you’ve got to expect that it’s not without risks but I’m not really thinking about that because I’m seeing it as a challenge.”
The last series – the first since it was axed in 2014 by ITV – saw the judging panel made up of skating champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, acid tongue Jason Gardiner and Diversity’s Ashley Banjo, but it’s not yet been confirmed whether all four will reclaim their seats on the panel this time around.
However, former Olympic skater Karen Barber will reclaim her head coach position on the 11th series of the show after she missed out on the job this year.
She explained: “It’s a joy to return.”

Danny John-Jules quit Death in Paradise because he needed ‘razzmatazz’

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny John-Jules quit ‘Death in Paradise’ because he needed more “razzmatazz” in his life.
The 58-year-old actor decided to walk away from the crime drama – in which he played Officer Dwayne Myers – after series seven because he wanted to get back on stage and couldn’t believe his luck when he was asked to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this year.
Speaking to TV Times magazine, he said: “I left ‘Death in Paradise’ because I wanted to get back on stage. I needed a bit more razzmatazz in my life, and then along came ‘Strictly’!
“I haven’t done a [stage] show for more than 20 years, so this is as close as I’m going to get to doing the jazz hands again. I’ve also been working on my one-man show about Sammy Davis Jnr, that’s why I’m always wearing a bowler hat!”
However, although he’s excited to be involved in the ballroom and latin show, Danny has already had some difficult time with training as he was forced to halt his session in August when a man locked himself in Willesden Sports Centre, London, and “exposed” himself.
Sharing footage as several police cars surrounded the sports centre, Danny said: “So I just turned up to go to the gym and this is what I was greeted with. You know what I mean. What’s going on?
“So apparently there’s a geezer or someone holed up in the gym and there’s a hostage negotiator being called for. So welcome to North West London.”
He tweeted alongside the clip that it had “thwarted” his plans to train for the BBC competition.
He said: “Incident NW London has thwarted my Dance preparation #Strictly #KensalRise #Harlesen #Willesden. (sic)”
A police spokesman said: “Police were called at 7.53am on Wednesday, August 29 to Willesden Sports Centre, following reports of a man exposing himself.
“The suspect, a 34-year-old man then jumped into the pool and threatened to harm officers and members of the public.
“All members of the public evacuated the pool and no one has suffered any injuries. Officers are concerned for the man’s welfare and remain at the scene. The centre remains closed.”

Jon Stewart returns to directing with Irresistible

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Stewart is set to return to feature directing with ‘Irresistible’.
The former ‘Daily Show’ host will be at the helm of a political satire based on his own original idea, with Steve Carell said to be the favourite to star – although though financing and scheduling need to be agreed first.
Stewart will also produce the project, alongside Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, and sources told Variety the project is in the early stages of development as financiers and distributors come on board.
It is currently unknown when production will start and details of the film have yet to be released but the project will play to the 55-year-old comedian’s strengths, as he made his directorial debut with political drama ‘Rosewater’.
The 2014 film followed journalist Maziar Bahari in June 2009, an Iranian-born Canadian citizen who is arrested by the Revolutionary Guard in his native country after smuggling footage of riots to the BBC – and is interrogated and tortured for 118 days.
Meanwhile, Carell, 56, may be looking at some Oscar buzz for his role as David Sheff in the upcoming drama ‘Beautiful Boy’.
The film – based on the novel ‘Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction’ – chronicles drug addiction and recovery through the eyes of David, who watches his son Nic (Timothée Chalamet) as he battles with his addiction.
The ‘Office’ actor admitted that his role in the poignant movie was made more intense given that he is a father to both Elisabeth Anne, 17, and 14-year-old John.
Carell told Time magazine: “Being a dad, there’s an inherent worry you have as soon as you have kids that never goes away.
“To experience them spiraling out of control with absolutely no recourse…”
“David was mourning his son while his son was still alive.”

Casey Batchelor ‘didn’t enjoy pregnancy’

OHMYGOSSIP — Casey Batchelor has admitted she “didn’t enjoy pregnancy”.
The 33-year-old reality star welcomed her daughter Florence – whom she has with her boyfriend Dane Goodson – into the world three months ago and she has revealed to her 299,000 fans in an Instagram post that she had constant “nausea” and was always “uncomfortable” when she was carrying her baby, however, she does miss the “foot massages” her man would give her.
In her Throwback Thursday post, Casey wrote: “TBT To when I was heavily pregnant and about to literally POP!!! Look how big my bump was never mind the bump, my boobs were bigger than my head!! If I’m being honest I didn’t enjoy pregnancy all that much, I had nausea throughout and was so uncomfortable but is it weird to say that I kind of miss being pregnant a little now I could ask for constant massages and foot rubs and no one would say no #tbt#pregnant #readytopop (sic)”
Casey – who was a contestant on the 2014 series of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in 2014 and had an in-house romance with Blue singer Lee Ryan – has been documenting her fitness journey on Instagram as she works to get back her pre-pregnancy figure.
And the new mum took to social media on Tuesday (11.09.18) to share a side-by-side photo of herself in August compared to a month later in September, showing off her dramatic weight loss.
She wrote: “So guys I wanted to share this with you as I’m so thrilled to say that I’ve lost a stone in a month doing my yoga and being good with my diet. Not back to my old bod yet but getting there #weightlossjourney #beforeandafter (sic)”
The former glamour model was flooded with comments from fans who praised her weight loss.
One said: “You look incredible well done @caseybatchelor1 always keeping it real and no airbrushing or filters.”
Another replied: “Looking amazing thank you for being so honest and inspirational to other new mums! X (sic)”

Giovanna Fletcher was ‘shell-shocked’ when she held Buzz

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanna Fletcher was “shell-shocked” when she held her son Buzz for the “first time”.
The 33-year-old author – who married McFly member Tom Fletcher in 2012 – shared an intimate photo on social media of her cradling Buzz shortly after she’d delivered him and admitted she was completely “overwhelmed” when she got to hold the tot in her arms for the first time.
Speaking to her one million followers on Instagram, Giovanna wrote: “I remember hearing so much about the importance of having skin to skin contact with your baby before Buzz arrived. I knew it served a purpose in terms of stabilising their temperature, heartbeat and breathing.
“Everything I’d read about it seemed very matter of fact, but the actual moment when I held each boy against me for the first time was so far removed from the science behind it. My emotions have been different with each new arrival. There’s no denying I felt overwhelmed and shell-shocked when I first held a wrinkly and tiny Buzz in my arms.”
Giovanna and Tom have two other sons, Buddy, two, and two-month-old Max, and she admits the skin to skin contact she experienced with all her kids when they were newborns was very important when it came to bonding with them.
And tactile expressions of love are still very important to her now as a mother.
Giovanna added: “With Buddy I was filled with elation – instantly telling Tom to take a photo and capture the moment. With Max I felt a relief knowing he’d arrived safely. I felt at peace having him resting on my chest.
“I still take huge comfort in feeling the boys skin on mine – whether that’s a hug from Buzz before he goes off to school, one of Buddy’s gorgeous hands finding its way into mine or Max resting cheek to cheek with me – it’s his favourite place to rest. Touch and comfort are so entwined.”
