Ben Price’s ‘easy’ Coronation Street return

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Price has found it “very easy” to slot back in to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 46-year-old actor made a return to Weatherfield last Friday (12.10.18) and he’s grateful producers have been able to bring him back in as Nick Tilsley in a way that makes it easier for him to manage his family life with wife Alexandra, daughter Paloma, 11, and eight-year-old son Max.
He told RadioTimes.com: “It felt very easy for me to slot back in. I never left in the first place because of the show. It was just down to my family being so far away.
“I love the show and the people, but I also love my family. And while it’s very flattering when you’re busy at work, it sometimes became too much.
“So now, we’ve found a much better way of working. ‘Coronation Street’ has been very kind and I now have a better balance – just by arranging things a bit differently.”
And Ben has promised his new stint on the cobbles will show more of an “edge” to Nick, though he admitted his alter ego isn’t going to find it easy being back in Weatherfield.
He said: “There’s an edge to Nick – a duplicity that I like, and he’s now more of a match for David. Both brothers have an anger at times.
“But things are tricky for Nick, especially with David. Nick doesn’t know what’s gone on and very rarely has he seen his brother lost for words or unable to cope. Initially, he doesn’t understand the enormity of what’s happened, but it slowly starts to dawn on him.
“And then there are people like Peter, who immediately hates Nick and is nasty to him. And Nick’s nasty to him – but in a kind of playful way. He’s more willing to play around with who he is.”
Though Ben is keen to see his alter ego settle down, he most enjoys playing a duplicitous side to the character.
He said: “I’d like to see him on the Street with a family in a house. Honestly, I’m not sure whether I know what’s best for Nick, but, as I say, I like the duplicity. He can move relationships and businesses. And maybe he can present as one thing, but be other things too. And I find that very interesting…”

Charley Webb doesn’t think Debbie can cope with jail

OHMYGOSSIP — Charley Webb doesn’t think her ‘Emmerdale’ alter ego Debbie Dingle will “cope well” in prison.
The 30-year-old actress’ character has confessed to police about her involvement in Ross Barton’s acid attack and she thinks the mechanic would struggle behind bars as she’ll find it tough being apart from her kids.
She said: “She’d go to prison for a long time and her kids would be outside so not great, and it would be for something that wasn’t really her fault so it would be a bigger kick in the teeth. So she would not cope well.”
And Charley hopes her character doesn’t get punished too harshly for the attack – which saw Ross (Michael Parr) mistaken for the intended target, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) – as she didn’t ask Simon McManus (Liam Ainsworth) to use acid.
She told Metro.co.uk: “That story has been a bit muddled and confused, she never ordered the acid, the acid was just something that that guy did even though she did just want Joe to get beaten up for what he’d done. That’s a very Dingle thing to do – the Dingles get people beaten up all the time and her dad is Cain, it’s natural territory for her for that to happen.
“But obviously it did go really wrong with the acid.”
Now that Simon has been arrested and Debbie has confessed, Charley hopes the storyline can be “put to bed” for her alter ego.
She said: “I am glad that it’s out because I would quite like to put that story to bed now for that character because it should never really have been about Debbie, it should’ve been what happened to Ross, and she was just unfortunately part of that, she didn’t actually order the acid so I do think it’s quite a difficult one.
“A lot of people said ‘Do you think she should’ve gone down for it?’ No, but had she said, ‘yes can you throw acid in his face?’ then yes, I’d want her to have her comeuppance 100%.”

Duchess Meghan’s mum ‘very happy’ with daughter’s baby news

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Sussex’s mother Doria Ragland is “very happy” with the news that her daughter is expecting her first child.
Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, and his wife will welcome their little boy or girl into the world next spring, and following the announcement on Monday morning (15.10.18), Meghan’s parent – who attended the couple’s wedding in May without Meghan’s father Thomas Markle – revealed her delight about becoming a grandmother.
A statement from Kensington Palace reads: “Ms. Ragland is very happy about this lovely news, and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”
Sharing the pair’s baby joy with the world, the palace said: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
The pregnancy news came just as Harry and Meghan arrived in Australia for their first major international tour since getting married.
Harry, 33, had recently joked he didn’t want a large family.
As the couple greeted fans in Dublin in July, Elaine Adam-Stewart, 43, told Harry: “My husband also has red hair and he gave me five children – when are you and Meghan going to get going?”
She added: “He laughed and said ‘five children? Too many.’ ”
But the 36-year-old former actress’ father Thomas Markle previously revealed his daughter has wanted a baby of her own for a “long time.”
He said: “She’s wanted children for a long time. When she met Harry and she spoke about how much she loves him… there’s got to be a child in the making there soon.
“I couldn’t be more proud of those two, I think they’ll do a fabulous job. They’re great and I love then dearly. I’m very happy to have a new son-in-law.”

Pete Davidson deletes Instagram amid Ariana Grande split

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Davidson has deleted his Instagram account amid reports he’s split from Ariana Grande.
The ‘Saturday Night Live’ star and the ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ hitmaker were recently revealed to have called time on their engagement, and though neither of them have commented on the news, the 24-year-old comedian has now deactivated his profile on the social media app.
Pete had previously deleted his Instagram photos earlier this year and subsequently explained that he was planning to take a break from social media because the internet “is an evil place”.
In response to fan speculation about his reasons for removing his photos, he said in an Instagram Story: “No, there’s nothing wrong. No nothing happened. No there’s nothing cryptic about anything. I just don’t wanna be on Instagram anymore, or on any social media platform. (sic)”
According to TMZ, the pair decided to end their relationship over the weekend after agreeing that it just wasn’t working out.
The former couple are believed to still have love for each other and haven’t ruled out rekindling their romance in the future.
The news came just a day after Ariana’s manager Scooter Braun said the star still “needs time” to recover after a tough few years, which saw 22 people die at her concert in Manchester, north west England, after a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in the venue’s foyer area and more recently, the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller from a suspected overdose at the age of just 26.
Scooter said: “One of the most amazing things about this organization is that they help people when they’re having the worst moments in their life, and they give sympathy and a calm nature to people in need in those moments. And you saw your invite, someone I’m very close to was supposed to come sing for you today, and because of things that she’s going through, she couldn’t be here today. And while I was frustrated, being the manager, my wife, being who she always is, just looked at me and she goes, ‘She needs this time.'”
Meanwhile, Pete previously revealed he and Ariana bonded over their failed relationships.
He said: “Timing I feel like is everything, and we both were in a similar situation at the same time. It’s like the weirdest, coolest thing that’s ever happened.”

Sophia Bush’s warning to fan who tried to harrass co-worker for her number

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophia Bush is furious that an obsessed fan managed to get her phone number through her co-worker.
The 35-year-old actress took to her Twitter account to rant about the alleged incident which took place on Saturday (13.10.18), where someone phoned one of her colleagues in a bid to get in touch with her late at night.
She fumed: “Dear Humans who manage to get phone numbers for my friends, my agents, my coworkers. Don’t call them hunting me down. Especially not at 11pm on a Saturday night. It’s f***ing rude. Period.
Getting my — or a # you think is mine — phone # isn’t how we become friends. Back off. (sic)”
The ‘One Tree Hill’ star says that knowing people are violating her “privacy” causes her to have panic attacks and when her phone rings with a random number it makes her fear leaving the house.
She added: “What happens when my privacy or the privacy of the people closest to me is violated?” she asked. “I start having an anxiety attack. I don’t feel safe going outside. Does that sound fun to you? It sure as hell isn’t fun to me. Every noise in the house gets scary. Every random number on my phone feels like a threat. I literally don’t give a sh*t what someone ‘wants.’ I don’t belong to them. (sic)”
Sophia’s ‘One Tree Hill’ co-star Hilarie Burton responded to her pal’s tweet calling anyone who tries to contact her a “psycho” and invited her to come and stay on her farm.
She wrote: “If you’re a real fan? You don’t “hunt” someone you admire. That’s psycho.
I’m sorry babe. Bring your friends and come hide on the farm. I got attack donkeys. (sic)”
Meanwhile, this summer Sophia said she has been looking for her future husband on the subway.
The brunette beauty admitted that she and her close pal have been scouting out the eligible bachelors that ride the metro in New York City, in the hopes of finding one who will get down on bended knee for them to ask for their hand in marriage.
The ‘Incredibles 2’ star said: “My best friend and I are book nerds and [have been] both deeply single for so long that every day this week we’ve been like ‘Why are there so many hot guys on the subway reading?’ Yesterday, literally, I’m looking at this guy who’s like so beautiful and he’s reading Zadie Smith and I’m like, ‘Are you my husband?’ It’s like the grown-up version of [the children’s book] ‘Are You My Mother’. You’re just like…’Is it you? Is it you? Who is it?'”
Sophia was previously married to her ‘One Tree Hill’ co-star Chad Michael Murray for just five months in 2005, before they split and later had their divorce finalised the following year.
The ‘Chicago P.D.’ actress recently admitted she felt pressured into marrying Chad, as she claims it isn’t something she “wanted” to do.
When asked how long she had been dating Chad before they married, she said: “I don’t even know. And it was not a thing I actually really wanted to do.”
Sophia then claimed she went through with the marriage because she didn’t want to “let everybody down”.

Ayda Field has no rules for contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — Ayda Field won’t ban her ‘X Factor’ finalists from sex and alcohol.
The 39-year-old actress – who has put Danny Tetley, Olatunji Yearwood, Giovanni Spano and Janice Robinson through to the live shows – thinks her over-28s “have their s**t together” and she doesn’t see any reason to impose strict rules on the hopefuls.
Asked if she will issue drink or sex bans, she told MailOnline: “That is hardcore! That’s like penitentiary. Listen, I’d like to think with my overs, that they’ve got their s**t together. Do you know what I mean?
“I think if they were 14 and 15 there might be some more rules. If I find out that one of them is getting sloppy, you know, out partying in the middle of the night, then there will be some issues with that. But I don’t get the sense that any of mine are party animals.”
But Ayda – who has children Teddy, five, Charlton, three, and Coco, two months, with husband Robbie Williams – won’t rule out giving her contestants “makeovers” if she feels it would suit their musical “personas”.
She said: “There could be makeovers, I always love a makeover,’ she said. ‘But I’m not interested in putting anyone on a diet or trying to put them in that box.
“I think that’s the whole point for me — I don’t want this to be about an image-led situation. A makeover is great because you can put your best foot forward on that persona, because everyone including Rob has a persona. Are you rock and roll? Are you country? Pop? There’s a persona.”
And the ‘Loose Women’ panelist plans to call her finalists together for group exercise sessions.
She said: “I think we might have some group workouts. But that’s more like mind, body, get your head straight. I do think a strong mind is a strong body and I think a strong body is a strong mind. I think maybe for headspace we might do you some yoga together.
“I think that is my mantra, that a strong mind is a strong body and a strong body is a strong mind. I think so much of this process is –and the same with my career — you have to fight. You have to fight for your place.
“No one’s handing it to you. I think when you learn to fight, and you learn to get out of your comfort zone on all sorts of levels you prepare yourself.
“For me, being physically fit makes me feel alert, it makes me feel strong, it makes me feel empowered. I think these are all really important.”

Bruce Forsyth was father figure to Craig Revel Horwood

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood says that Sir Bruce Forsyth was “like a father” to him.
The 53-year-old choreographer was always able to turn to the late ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host – who quit the show after 10 years in 2014 – whenever he had a problem and knew his friend would always spare the time to listen and offer advice.
He said: “When I joined the judging panel for the first series in 2004, Brucie was like a father figure to me.
“Throughout the years, whatever problems I was having, personal or professional, I could always go to him and he would make time to listen.”
Bruce passed away in August 2017 at the age of 89 and though Craig and the rest of the ‘Strictly’ team were aware he’d been ill, they hadn’t known how serious things were and only found out he’d died when the news was made public.
In an extract from his book, ‘In Strictest Confidence’, published by the Daily Mail newspaper, he recalled: “We had known he hadn’t been well for a couple of weeks but we hadn’t known how serious it was.
“‘Strictly’s executive producer, Louise Rainbow, phoned me three minutes after I got an alert on my phone. The BBC had tried to tell everyone in the Strictly family before the word got out, but it was impossible.”
Though Craig believes part of ‘Strictly’ “died” along with Bruce, he thinks the show is still a fitting memorial to the veteran entertainer.
He said: “It was the end of an era, and part of Strictly died with him. But we feel Brucie’s presence every time we hear the music, and his spirit lives in the studio with us.”
Following Bruce’s departure from the programme, Claudia Winkleman stepped in as co-host alongside Tess Daly and Craig couldn’t think of anyone better for the job.
He said: “After Bruce decided to step down, it was announced that Claudia Winkleman would be taking over.
“I thought that was a great idea because I love Claudia and I’d worked with her for years … I knew she was quirky enough and mad enough to make it her own.”

Richard Madeley reflects on devastating baby loss

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madeley has spoken out about the “devastating” loss of his and Judy Finnegan’s first child together.
The presenting duo had no cause for concern when they attended a “routine scan” appointment, so were horrified to be told their baby had died.
Richard told The Times newspaper: “Judy was 16 weeks pregnant when she went for a routine scan.
“But I’ll never forget the nurse hurrying towards me, an agonised expression on her face: ‘Mr Madeley, you need to come this way…’
“I joined Judy in the examination room. Tears were streaming down her face: ‘It’s died, Richard. It’s died.’
“The scan had revealed a perfect foetus with a non-existent heartbeat.
“It was utterly devastating: no warning; no earlier, gentle, indication of the possibility of catastrophe.
“Our baby had just died. And he was still in Judy’s womb.”
Judy – who already had twins Dan and Tom from her first marriage – was then put into an induced labour and her husband’s “heart broke” when he thought about what she had to go through.
He added: “My heart broke for her as I waited outside the delivery room. What a dreadful experience: to go through the motions of childbirth, knowing what the grim outcome would be.
“As the father, you focus on the mother 100 per cent. Do you need support? You don’t even ask the question; you’re there to support your partner, nothing else.
“A day or so later, Judy was discharged and we went home, baby-less. It was horrible: empty, cold, defeated and drear.”
To recover from the horrific experience, Richard took his wife on holiday but it wasn’t the relaxing experience he’d hoped for.
He explained: “I booked a week in the south of France, and took her there to find some kind of solace.
“The sun shone, but every beach restaurant seemed to be crammed with newborns, cooing in their mothers’ arms. It was torture for Judy, and she – like so many mothers of stillborns or miscarriages – blamed herself; felt she’d somehow failed.
“It was my job – like countless men before and after me – to assure her that she hadn’t.”
Three months after the lass of their son, Judy found out she was pregnant with their son Jack, now 32, and they then had daughter Chloe a year later.

Oscar Isaac bemoans Hollywood’s ‘representation issue’

OHMYGOSSIP — Oscar Isaac feels there’s an “issue of representation” in Hollywood.
The 59-year-old actor – who was born in Guatemala – has claimed that more needs to be done in order to challenge the lack of diversity in the movie industry.
He explained: “I think it really needs to start more with the writers and directors. They’re the ones that write the stories.
“I don’t think the reasons actors are interesting is for their representational qualities; it’s for their transformative ones. That’s where the magic trick is, where the craft is.”
Oscar – who plays the part of Poe Dameron in the ‘Star Wars’ movies – has claimed that corporations and movie studios ought to shoulder some of the blame for the lack of diversity.
He told IndieWire: “It’s so f***ed up what happens, how people who don’t look like the stereotypical white American get marginalised.
“It’s the corporate entities and the studio entities that allow this to happen, who have ideas about what the lead needs to look like. Time and again, those things are disproven.
“So f**k yeah, you’ve got to make them put more diversity in there. You have to knock it into their brains that it’s a better business move to do that.”
Oscar’s latest movie, ‘Triple Frontier’, tells the story of a group of military friends who reunite to tackle a South American drug lord.
The actor’s on-screen character is originally from Colombia, but he rarely plays characters that link him to his roots.
He said: “I am excited to have done a film in Spanish, but not because I want to do something closer to my heritage.
“My personal experience is not that interesting. It’s fine. But just because you lived something doesn’t mean you have the skill to portray it.”

And Marc, 60, added: “If this record were to be a movie, it’d be a black and white movie of the late 50s or 60s set in London and starring Dirk Bogarde (with maybe a brief visit to Paris where we’d meet Deneuve and Delon in a smoky bar)!
“Jools and I have a performing history that stretches back many years now and at last we can bring our joint love of Bogarde, London, vintage cars, afternoon tea and the blues to a record. With Jools and the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, it’s always a lovely life.”

Victoria Beckham: Elton John is the reason I stopped Spice Girls

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham says it was Sir Elton John who made her realise she wanted to stop performing with the Spice Girls.
The ‘Too Much’ hitmaker is believed to have decided not to be involved with the upcoming reunion tour planned by the other band members – Emma Burton, Geri Horner, Mel B and Mel C – and she has revealed that it was seeing the 71-year-old music legend’s Las Vegas show years ago that made her realise that the 2007 and 2008 reunion would be her final shows with the group.
She told the November issue of Vogue Australia magazine: “I was with Elton John this weekend and I told him, ‘You’re the reason why I stopped the Spice Girls.’ I went to see him in Vegas doing ‘The Red Piano’, where David LaChapelle curated the most incredible show with him, and I remember sitting there very near to the front and looking at him singing those songs he’d sung time after time, year after year, and his passion and his enjoyment was incredible, even after all that time.
“And a few nights later, I was on stage at Madison Square Garden with the Spice Girls and I thought, ‘It’s almost like a waste that I’m given this opportunity. I appreciate the time I’ve had with the girls, but I don’t have what Elton can have after all these years.’ There was nothing there, other than that my kids were in the audience and I wanted them to see Mummy doing the Spice Girls.”
Victoria also revealed she bonds over ‘Spice World’ with her daughter Harper.
The 44-year-old fashion designer’s seven-year-old girl likes to play the ‘Viva Forever’ hitmaker’s 1997 film over and over again when they go on holiday, and its made her have a “whole other appreciation” for the film seeing it through her eyes.
However, Victoria – who was known as Posh Spice in the girl group’s heyday – says that it’s hard for her to watch herself in the scene where she wears a Gucci LBD because she admits she was self-conscious of her weight at the time.
She told the publication: “While we were on holiday, Spice World was on heavy rotation on the iPad. When I filmed that, they made me wear a little army dress instead of the combat pants everyone else was wearing and I was really upset at the time because my weight throughout the Spice Girls went up-down-up-down and I really didn’t want to wear a tight little camouflage dress.
“But now Harper looks at it and she finds it really hilarious. ‘Mummy, why are you wearing that mini-dress?’ You have a whole other appreciation for that movie when you watch it years later.”
Victoria – who also has sons Brooklyn 18, Romeo 16, and Cruz, 13, with her retired soccer ace husband David Beckham – admits Harper is obsessed with acting out the Gucci dress scene on the Spice Bus.
She smiled: “She does the dance and she says, ‘Is it a Gucci dress? Is it a Gucci dress? I want a little Gucci dress.’ And then she asks me, ‘Mummy, what’s a Gucci dress?’ ”

A little over a year after the Playboy founder passed away at the age of 91, several garments that he owned and wore including a set of black silk pyjamas, his iconic red smoking jacket and his trademark white captain’s hat, are going to be sold off by Julien’s.
The two-day auction starts on November 30 and experts are predicting that his smoking jacket will fetch $5,000, while his pyjamas are estimated to sell for between $1,000 and $2,000.

Ralph Lauren doesn’t need celebrity endorsements

OHMYGOSSIP — Ralph Lauren doesn’t use famous people to promote his eponymous label because “he’s the celebrity”.
The iconic American designer believes the “integrity of the brand” sells itself so he avoids paying celebrities to advertise his products.
When asked why he doesn’t use celebrity endorsements by GQ magazine, he said: “Why? Because I feel I’m the celebrity, I’m not embarrassed about that. I became the celebrity. It’s Ralph Lauren.
“You come in to buy Ralph Lauren; you’re not coming in to buy someone else. Yes, it’s nice for people to love your clothes, and lots of guys like the clothes and I’m thrilled they like it and they have great taste, but I don’t believe in celebrity.
“I believe in the integrity of being a brand; the name is on the door and that’s the company. If someone wants to wear my clothes to a party, I don’t pay them. I’d rather give them to them.”
Although the 79-year-old fashion legend doesn’t like celebrity endorsements, he does think some stars would be a good fit for Ralph Lauren, in particular David Beckham.
He said: “There are some celebrities I like – David Beckham is a good guy, I think. I don’t know him very well but I like what I see. But the brand has to be about me. Sometimes you miss things. Sometimes you go off in the wrong direction.
“I mean, I think I’ve been slow in China. You maybe hire the wrong CEO. You miss a few, it does happen, but then you get back if you’re good. If you’re there because it’s a fluke, you don’t get back. You don’t get back unless you really work for it and I believe that.
“I work hard. I like what I’m doing and I check myself and I try to really know what I’m doing and I know I’m not going to know everything. I’m a big believer in people.”

Carey Mulligan turned down Botox at 23

OHMYGOSSIP — Carey Mulligan turned down Botox at the age of 23.
The 33-year-old actress has revealed that when she began her film acting career she sought some professional beauty help for lines underneath her eyes and was immediately offered the wrinkle-smoothing injections.
In an interview with the Sunday Times’ Style magazine, she said: “Someone tried to give me Botox when I was 23. I was bothered by the lines under my eyes, and went to see someone, hoping for a cream, but they said, ‘We can just put a bit of Botox in.’ And I replied, ‘My whole job is about me moving my face!’ ”
The ‘Great Gatsby’ actress raises three-year-old Evelyn with her husband, Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford, and she has revealed that her daughter is very honest with her mother when it comes to her imperfections and often comments on her forehead wrinkles.
She said: “At the moment my daughter’s favourite thing is to push my forehead together and shout, ‘Mummy, lines!’ There is nothing like a little bit of toddler truth.”
The ‘Mudbound’ star has admitted that having her daughter has changed her outlook on beauty and made her stop fretting about walking the red carpet.
She said: “When I was younger I was riddled with insecurities – red carpets made me feel like crying. I was scared of wearing big expensive dresses. It felt like a model’s job and I didn’t know what role I was meant to play. The first time I did press after I’d had my daughter she was one month old. I literally ran to the red carpet, did it, ran home, pulled off my dress and fed her in my Spanx and six inch heels.”

Kit Harington’s show sadness

OHMYGOSSIP — Kit Harington “burst into tears randomly” for a month after he finished filming ‘Game of Thrones’.
The 34-year-old actor will always treasure his time as Jon Snow in the HBO drama series but has “no desire” to return to the role, even though it took him a while to adjust once he’d wrapped work on the final season of the show.
He said: “I have no desire to go back and do any more of that show… I have such a fond place I my heart for that show. For a good month afterwards I just burst into tears randomly. I can’t think of a better job to have in your 20s then to play Jon Snow.”
The final episodes of the programme air next year but Kit hasn’t told anyone how the series ends – not even his wife and former co-star Rose Leslie.
Speaking at Esquire Townhouse over the weekend, he admitted: “I chose not to tell [Rose]. It’s quite exciting walking around knowing no one knows..for this I was like I’m not telling anyone. I don’t think she’s guessed it right yet.”

Kit recently admitted he doesn’t think everyone will be happy with the ending when ‘Game of Thrones’ draws to a close after eight seasons next year, but he thinks that’s always the case with a good drama series.
He said: “I think a TV series that’s spanned eight, nine years is an incredibly difficult thing to end. I think not everyone’s going to be happy, you know, and you can’t please everyone.
“My favourite TV shows are ‘Sopranos’, ‘Breaking Bad’, and ‘The Wire’ and they all ended in a way that…It’s never going to satisfy you.”
