Alfonso Ribeiro won’t do Fresh Prince without James Avery

OHMYGOSSIP — Alfonso Ribeiro thinks a ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ reboot would be “impossible” without James Avery.
The late actor – who sadly died aged 68 in 2014 after undergoing open-heart surgery – played Uncle Phil on Will Smith’s classic US sitcom, and his co-star doesn’t think a revamp could work without him.
Alfonso told PEOPLE.com: “I think it’s impossible with James Avery being gone… Without him, everything that Will and Carlton did would mean nothing — it’s a bunch of kids acting stupid.
“There had to be jeopardy, and the way Uncle Phil was going to handle it was the other side of making what Will and Carlton did work.
“Without him, there is no ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’. I’m sure a [reboot] could happen, but I continue to say I think it’s very unlikely.”
Meanwhile Alfonso, 47, joked while producers probably wouldn’t be able to afford to get Will back on board, he also doesn’t think fans want to see it as much as they think.
He explained: “Do we really want to see Will and Carlton in their 40s and 50s? I think people think they want to see that, but I don’t think people really want to see that.”
The cast are still close friends though, and Alfonso – who portrayed Will Smith’s nerdy cousin Carlton Banks on the long-running series and was known for his iconic dance in the series – recently had a reunion with his co-stars more than 20 years after the show went off the air.
He was joined by former castmates, Will, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Joseph Marcell.

Great British Bake off is leaving iconic tent

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Great British Bake Off’ will take its contestants outside the famous tent for the first time in its history.
The hugely popular Channel 4 baking show will send its final three – Ruby Bhogal, Rahul Mandal and Kim-Joy – outside the white marquee for the finale on Tuesday (30.10.18) as they face a task without their usual kitchen equipment.
The trio – who have each won star baker twice going into the last episode of the series – will take on the technical challenge.
It will mark the first time in eight years that the programme – which aired on the BBC until its switch in 2016 – sees contestants bake away from the large white tent in Welford Park, Bekrshire.
Although they will still be in the tent – for the showstopper and to make doughnuts in the signature challenge – the location and details for the special task hasn’t been revealed.
However, Channel 4 has teased that it is “deceptively simple”.
This week, Briony Williams was eliminated from the contest in the semi-final but insisted she didn’t feel “sad” to have missed out on a place in the final
She said: “Being a Semi Finalist was the most incredible feeling ever. I was really proud that I got as far as I did, I didn’t think I would make it through the first episode let alone to the ninth.
“I felt really honoured, literally over the moon. I had a little cry after the Showstopper but it was more of a release of emotion. I really did leave with a big smile on my face.
“After it was all over, I messaged my family and told them what had happened, and signed off Briony Williams, GBBO Semi Finalist 2018! I never felt sad that I didn’t make it to the final, I was just so happy, and pleased Ruby got Star Baker.”

Big Brother end date revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Big Brother’ will end on November 5.
The long-running reality TV show – which has been on air since 2000 – is coming to an end after seven years on Channel 5, and now the show’s narrator Marcus Bentley has confirmed the details of its farewell episode.
He tweeted: “BREAKING NEWS: Big Brother will conclude on Monday, 5th November at 10-11.15pm in an episode titled ‘Goodbye Channel 5 : Live Final’ ”
In a statement announcing that it was calling time on both the celebrity and civilian versions of the show, Channel 5 thanked the team for “so many memorable moments” over the years.
The broadcaster said: “The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last – of either celebrity or civilian versions – on Channel 5.
“We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.
“We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters – Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side – for their consummate professionalism, Marcus [Bentley], the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.”
There is still speculation the show could be picked up by another channel in the future, and presenter Emma Willis would be up for a revival.
She recently said: “As long as diaries allowed for it and it was still the ‘Big Brother’ I know and love, then yes.”

Liam Neeson ‘cried’ at Normal People script

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Neeson cried when he first read the script for ‘Normal People’ and instantly “knew it was special”.
The 66-year-old actor revealed that he “knew” he had to play the role of Tom because it was a diverse script, written by the playwright Owen McCafferty, that didn’t need any editing because it was “special”.
Speaking to Deadline, Liam said: “I went straight through this one. I knew it was special. The subject matter is heavy but it’s a beautiful love story. It’s invested with Irish humour and it made me cry a little. I knew I had to do it.
“We changed very, very little on Owen’s script. From my experience, the only other film I can think of where virtually nothing changed in the script was ‘Schindler’s List’. It was ready to shoot the next day.”
‘Normal People’ is a love story about a long-married couple named Tom and Joan – played by Lesley Manville – whose lives are thrown into turmoil when she is unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer.
The pair face challenges when they seek treatment and the threat of what their future will be.
Liam immediately knew that Lesley should be cast as Joan as soon as he read the film’s script, and he subsequently called his agent to make sure she could read it.
She admitted: “It was a very emotional script to read, I cried a number of times.”
Liam also confessed that he related to the script because he had “four relatives” who suffered with the disease.
Neeson shared: “I’ve had four relatives who have died of cancer, three of them of breast cancer over the last few years.
“I’m very aware of it. People still whisper about cancer. But why do we speak in hushed tones about a disease which is so prevalent and attacks so many we know?
“We’re all one degree of separation away from this experience. Millions of women go through this particular cancer (it’s so important they are regularly tested for it).”

Lili Reinhart hates being referred to as Cole Sprouse’s girlfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — Lili Reinhart hates being referred to as Cole Sprouse’s girlfriend.
The ‘Riverdale’ actress thinks it is insulting that she is always “connected” to the 26-year-old actor as she is “not a boring person”.
She said: “There is still a problem here if you feel the need to say a man’s name, or someone who is more famous that is connected to me, in order to get someone to read an article about me … I’m not a boring person. I don’t need someone else’s name on a headline to make me sound more interesting.”
And the 22-year-old actress finds fame tough – particularly the “lack of privacy” and having to be “on” 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
She added to Vogue magazine: “The mean comments, lack of privacy, people wanting to know everything, being in stressful situations, having to be a public speaker even when you don’t feel like it, having to be ‘on’ 24-7. If you hate me so much, don’t f***ing talk about me. I don’t have any sympathy for people who go online and attack people for no other reason than to get attention, or to start an army of hate against a celebrity. You need to find something better to do with your time.”
Meanwhile, Lili previously confessed she thought Cole was “annoying” when they first met.
Speaking about first impressions, he said: “Lili was a tough egg to crack. She’s very shy at first and reserved. I think it was about halfway into the first season she started letting people in truly.”
Whilst Lili added: “I thought his voice was annoying. I was like, ‘That guy’s got an annoying voice.’ And now it’s grown on me, I guess.”

Holly Willoughby won’t steal Ant McPartlin’s job

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes had promised ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ fans that Holly Willoughby “isn’t going to steal” Ant McPartlin’s job.
The ‘This Morning’ star suggested his fellow presenter will be the perfect fit to replace Ant alongside Dec Donnelly in the jungle, and he has reassured reviews that she isn’t looking to take on the job permanently.
He’s quoted by Digital Spy as saying: “No-one in any way thinks Holly is going out there to steal Ant’s job, so I don’t think there’s any suspicion of that. I think it’s a perfect fit.”
Eamonn admitted he understands that passionate Ant and Decn fans will find it a little weird to see Dec without his long time best friend and presenting partner by his side.
However, he insisted “top pro” Holly will have good onscreen chemistry with him because the pair have such a close friendship in real life.
He added: “Because Dec and her are such good friends, and the fact that it’s not another bloke there, cushions the blow somewhat.”
Holly has reportedly been paid a “six-figure sum” to replace Ant on the next series of the programme..
She has agreed to front the new series of the creepy-crawly show alongside Dec after his co-star pulled out of all of his work commitments earlier this year when he was found guilty of drink-driving.
And, although bosses were certain they wanted the 37-year-old beauty to take on the role, they were determined to make her a cash offer she couldn’t refuse.
Holly previously insisted that she wasn’t keen to discuss her friend’s drink driving conviction because she wanted to respect his privacy during a difficult period.
She said: “His is not my story to tell. He’s just got to look after himself, that’s all.”

Maya Jama’s social media is a ‘documentary’

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama views her social media platforms as a “documentary of her life”.
The BBC Radio 1 presenter – who is dating grime star Stormzy – sees her social media as little “behind the scenes” snippets of her life, even when it contains something embarrassing.
Speaking at VOXI x Phones launch on Wednesday night (24.10.18), she said: “I’ve had loads of social media faux pas – probably one of my most recent ones was recording somebody do something and then I farted in the background and I didn’t think it would get picked up and it did. People were messaging ‘oh my god I can hear you fart in the background’. I was like great – self sabotage. I treat my online platforms like a little documentary of my life with every single behind the scene aspect.”
The star also admitted she has double-tapped and liked a picture on Instagram by accident but advises fans to never unlike because “they will see it”.
Maya added: “I’ve done a ‘danger like’ a few times and I just leave it. They are going to see it. A lot of people have notifications on and if they see it and then it goes it could be worse.”
The event – which was joined by a host of A-listers including Jax Jones, Mabel and ‘Love Island’s’ newlyweds Olivia and Alex Bowen – was to celebrate the launch of VOXI x Phones, a new, more flexible and affordable way to buy a smartphone with no upfront cost and 0% interest. Customers can get ‘Endless Social Media’ and a brand new phone from £17 a month and iPhone starting from £19.50 a month, via PayPal Credit.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old beauty as previously admitted she loves to give her followers an insight into her personal life and regularly posts photos on her Instagram make-up free and when she’s all dressed up to show she is just like everyone else.
She shared: “I try to make my Instagram reflect how I really am and I don’t always look glamorous and dolled-up. So, I thought, ‘Right, I’m going to put up a silly pic that’s not pristine or filtered.’ It’s also a self-protective thing. I feel like nobody can get any ugly pictures of me because I’ve posted worse.”

Michelle Williams ended engagement after depression battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Williams ended her engagement when she battled with depression.
The Destiny’s Child singer felt it was the right thing to do to end her relationship with Chad Johnson when she was struggling with her mental health because he “didn’t pray for a depressed wife”.
She said: “I’d been there before in that darkness. I was like, ‘No, you better go [to the hospital].’ By the time I got there, I was stable. However, I would’ve understood if he left. He’s been praying for a wife. He didn’t pray for a depressed wife.”
However, Chad stayed and now the couple are better than ever.
She added to People magazine: “It’s not just about marrying Chad. I finally found someone to do life with.”
Back in July, Michelle revealed she was “proudly” seeking help for her depression and had recently “sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals”.
In a statement posted to Instagram, she shared: “For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognise when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing. I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals. Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for betterment of those in need.”

Suspicious package sent to Robert De Niro’s New York restaurant

OHMYGOSSIP — A suspicious package has been found at a restaurant owned by Robert De Niro.
The 75-year-old actor – who has starred in hits such as ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Raging Bull’ – is the owner of the Tribeca Grill in New York City, where police confirmed a suspicious-looking package was sent to the eatery while it was empty.
The news comes shortly after it was revealed that suspected explosive devices were recently sent to top Democrats in the US, including former President Barack Obama and former Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, as well as the news network CNN.
If – as has been speculated – the package sent to the actor is linked to the incidents involving the politicians and CNN, it would be the ninth explosive device this week to have been sent to perceived critics of current US President Donald Trump.
De Niro has been repeatedly critical of the President during his time in office, calling Trump “a national disaster”.
He previously said: “America is being run by a mad man. When he doesn’t like what he hears, he dismisses it by saying it’s un-American and damning and it’s ‘fake news’, but we know the truth. All thinking people do know the truth.
“Your job is difficult enough without being attacked by our lowlife-in-chief, that’s the new name I have for him. It was jerkoff-in-chief, now it’s lowlife-in-chief.”
Meanwhile, Trump hit out at the actor after De Niro – who played boxer Jake LaMotta in ‘Raging Bull’ – criticised him at the Tony Awards earlier this year.
Trump wrote on Twitter in June: “Robert De Niro, a very Low IQ individual, has received too many shots to the head by real boxers in movies. I watched him last night and truly believe he may be ‘punch-drunk’ (sic)”

Joe Sugg says people are more easily offended than ever

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Sugg has insisted soft young ‘snowflakes’ are more easily offended than ever.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star even claimed many youngsters would make “excuses” to get out of the armed forces in the event of a world war.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I wonder what would happen now if we had a world war. When WW2 happened, if you were fit and able, you were in the Army, regardless if you wan-ted to be or not.
“Now it would be interesting to see how people react to it and what excuses would be made to get out of doing something like that.”
Asked about the so-called ‘snowflake generation’, the YouTube vlogger – whose videos have more than 1.2 billion views on the website – admitted people’s mistakes come back to haunt them, meaning he has to be very careful.
He added: “Now we live in a world where if you slip up once, you’re going to have to pay the consequences your whole life.
“I feel we have to tread on eggshells so much now.”
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old star has shrugged off the idea of a romance with his pro partner Dianne Buswell, 29, but he insisted he will stay in touch with the newly single dancer once their time in the competition comes to an end.
Asked if there was a chance of a relationship between them, he said: “No, I don’t think so. I haven’t got time. But after the show finishes we’ll stay friends.”
Dianne was dating ‘Emmerdale’ actor Anthony Quinlan, and while they have gone their separate ways in an amicable break up, they “remain close friends”.
Her rep previously said: “Due to their busy schedules and the distance they have separated but they still remain close friends.”

John Barrowman wants Torchwood revival

OHMYGOSSIP — John Barrowman says Chris Chibnall could help revive ‘Torchwood’.
The 51-year-old actor has revealed that the sci-fi spin-off may have hope for a return following talks with the new ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner.
The BBC star – who starred as immortal alien investigator Captain Jack Harkness in the series – told RadioTimes.com: “Without going into too much detail, I actually a while back contacted Chris. He was the ‘Torchwood’ showrunner for a while…
“I actually wrote to Chris and I said to him, ‘Would he be interested in being a part of something like that?’ ”
The actor revealed that holding business meetings with different US production companies who passionately wanted to pick up the spin-off encouraged him to contact Chris and make something happen.
He added: “I was doing meetings with different production companies all around the US including the CW, and the one thing out of everyone’s mouth was ‘How would we get a hold of ‘Torchwood’? To do it?’
“And I thought ‘That’s an interesting question,’ and a lot of people were asking that. ‘How can we get a hold of that brand to do it, to start making it again?’ ”
However, the current ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner – who has the final word on a possible revival – was unable to give an immediate answer due to his current commitments.
John recalled: “He e-mailed me back, and he said ‘As you probably know, I’m in the middle of something very big at the moment, and I can’t discuss anything else.’
“But he said ‘Let’s talk when things calm down a bit.’ And that was just at the beginning of his negotiations for ‘Doctor Who.’ ”

Aaron Paul almost landed full Black Mirror episode

OHMYGOSSIP — Aaron Paul almost signed on for a full episode of ‘Black Mirror’.
The 39-year-old actor made a cameo appearance as the voice of a gamer at the end of ‘USS Callister’ – the opening episode of the fourth series of the Netflix anthology show – and now he’s revealed the small role almost led to something much bigger.
He told Digital Spy: “I reached out. I am obsessed with ‘Black Mirror’. ‘Anything that could possibly fit within my schedule, please let me know.’
“This kind of came out of nowhere and they promised me an episode down the road, and we actually tried to work it into this latest season that’s coming out.
“I signed on for an episode that I read, and it’s absolutely beautiful, but it conflicted with my Apple series that I’m doing at the moment. Sadly I had to let it go, but hopefully down the road I will be jumping on that. I think what they’re doing is so incredible.”
The ‘Breaking Bad’ star was reunited with his former cast mate Jesse Plemons for the cameo, but he revealed he hadn’t told his friend he was lending his voice to the episode.
He added: “It was more of an Easter egg for Plemons, and also the audience. Plemons didn’t know I was doing it, it was more of a fun Easter egg for ‘Breaking Bad’ fans.
“It was such a pivotal role on ‘Breaking Bad’ that, so they thought it would be a fun little tip of the hat to that show.”

Duke and Duchess of Sussex want a ‘normal’ life for their child

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are determined their child will live a “normal” life.
The royals – who recently announced they’re preparing for the arrival of their first child – reportedly hope that he or she will be able to live as normal a life as possible, despite the inevitable interest of the public.
A source told the Sunday Times newspaper: “That word ‘normal’ looms very large for Harry and Meghan when it comes to their child’s future.”
Although the baby will be the seventh in line to the throne, he or she will not be given a royal title unless the Queen decides to intervene.
And the Duke and Duchess – who tied the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May – are apparently eager to follow in the footsteps of the Princess Royal, whose children have established their own independent careers.
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that the Duchess – who was known as Meghan Markle prior to marrying the Duke – is cutting back her schedule during the ongoing royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga.
Despite previously saying the pair would not be cutting down any planned events on their current tour, it’s been decided that it would be best to let the Duchess “rest”.
Looking ahead to their planned schedule, a royal aide said: “After a busy programme, The Duke and Duchess have decided to cut back The Duchess’s schedule slightly for the next couple of days, ahead of the final week and a half of the tour.
“The Duke will attend the cycling as scheduled this morning, and The Duchess will join him for this afternoon’s engagements. The Duke will continue with the engagements on Fraser Island as planned.”

Vince Vaughn pleads not guilty to DUI charge

OHMYGOSSIP — Vince Vaughn has pleaded not guilty to a driving under the influence (DUI) charge.
The Hollywood actor was arrested in the early hours of the morning on June 10 after entering a DUI checkpoint in Manhattan Beach, but he was subsequently released on $5,000 bail.
Vince, 48 – who has starred in numerous comedy hits, including ‘Wedding Crashers’ and ‘Old School’ – was charged last month with driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and driving with .08 blood alcohol content or higher in his system.
He was also charged with refusing to comply with an officer or submit to a police inspection.
Vince could face up to 360 days in county jail if he is convicted of the charges.
Meanwhile, the comedy star previously admitted to loving the party lifestyle earlier in his career, but insisted he’s matured over time.
Speaking about the early days of his career, Vince shared: “I enjoy a few drinks and there was a stage back there where I realised I was going out and drinking until 2am five nights a week, but you grow out of that stuff.
“Just like experimenting with drugs, it’s part of growing up, a choice that everyone has to make or not make. You realise what works or what doesn’t work.”
Despite this, Vince advocates the legalisation of drugs, arguing it would stop “f***ing ridiculous” wars.
He explained: “I look at the drug wars and they are absolutely f***ing ridiculous. There is a black market and the prisons are overcrowded and it’s not preventing drug use.
“There’s a corruption that goes all the way to the top.
“[Would I decriminalise drugs?] Yes, of course. It’s insane. I’m not saying that drugs can’t be dangerous but not everyone that does drugs is going to go out and hurt somebody.”

Amy Schumer urges Maroon 5 to cancel Super Bowl gig

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Schumer thinks Maroon 5 should cancel their planned appearance at the Super Bowl.
The 37-year-old actress has taken to her Instagram account to call on the Adam Levine-led band to withdraw from the high-profile event in 2019, and has revealed she won’t be starring in any Super Bowl commercials this year in support of the American football star Colin Kaepernick, who sparked a controversy by kneeling during the US national anthem.
In a lengthy post, Amy wrote: “I wonder why more white players aren’t kneeling. Once you witness the truly deep inequality and endless racism people of color face in our country, not to mention the police brutality and murders. Why not kneel next to your brothers? Otherwise how are you not complicit? (sic)”
Amy then turned the focus onto Maroon 5, calling on the band to follow Rihanna – who recently rejected the Super Bowl gig – and to show their support for Kaepernick.
She said: “I think it would be cool if @maroon5 backed out of super bowl like @badgalriri Did. I personally told my reps I wouldn’t do a Super Bowl commercial this year. I know it must sound like a privilege ass sacrifice but it’s all i got. Hitting the nfl with the advertisers is the only way to really hurt them.
“I know opposing the nfl is like opposing the nra. Very tough, but don’t you want to be proud of how you’re living? Stand up for your brothers and sisters of color. And the hottest thing a guy can do is get down on one knee. Not to propose but to reject the treatment of his teammates by this country. Anyone who says its disrespectful to our military please read up on the fact that a lot of veterans are proud of what @kaepernick7 is doing and fully support him. What are your thoughts? (sic)”
