The Faces ‘struggling’ with comeback album

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Rod Stewart has admitted The Faces are “struggling” with their comeback album.
The surviving members of the ‘Stay With Me’ group – which also includes guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Kenney Jones – were revealed to be recording new music in summer 2021 but fans have yet to hear it, and now the ‘Maggie May’ hitmaker has admitted he’s been writing songs for the project though he is unsure what will happen to the tracks.
Asked the best unreleased song he’s written, Rod told Vulture: “I’ve sent a lot of them to Ronnie Wood. I told him, ‘This is stuff we’ve recorded with my band, maybe the Faces would like to do it instead?’ We’re still struggling to make this album. We’ll see. Some of them might see the light of day.”
The 79-year-old singer has “a lot of songs” that fans have never heard but he enjoys seeing how people react to his tunes when they are released.
He said: “There are a lot of songs I’ve written that I haven’t put out and nobody knows about them. My songs are like my children. I gave birth to them and then I put them out there in the world and see how they do.”
Kenney previously explained The Faces’ comeback record would be a “mixture of old and new”.
He told Uncut magazine: “What we’ve decided to do is work on some of the original stuff that we didn’t use, so the album is going to be a mixture of old and new.
“The songs we’ve been revisiting are from right across the board.
“It’s very difficult to go into specifics because many of them didn’t even have titles.
“I think the fans may have heard certain things before and might recognise them.
“Ronnie and I, in particular, have been working on lots of the old stuff together and we’ve re-recorded a couple of those songs with more of a modern feel.”

Madonna invites Pamela Anderson onto the stage at Vancouver gig

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna shared the stage with actress Pamela Anderson during a tour stop in Canada.
The 65-year-old pop superstar invited ‘Baywatch’ actress Pamela to join in the fun during her concert at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada on Wednesday (21.03.24) on Wednesday night – bringing Pamela on as a guest judge during the ‘Vogue’ segment in which dancers show off their best moves.
Madonna shared an image of the pair onstage together, sitting on chairs and holding up number cards, writing: “Thank you Vancouver … Best legs in town.”
Previous guest judges during the segment have included Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon and son Rocco Ritchie, as well as famous faces such as FKA Twigs, Diplo, Amy Schumer and Charlie Hunnam, fashion designers Jean Paul Gaultier, Stella McCartney and Donatella Versace and even the singer’s own private chef/babysitter who joined her onstage in Germany.
The ‘Celebration’ tour kicked off in London last year and headed to North America in December. Madonna is due to play five nights at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles next month before heading to Florida and Texas in April and wrapping up in Mexico City on April 26.
At the launch of her tour last year, Madonna said in a statement: “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for.”
The singer’s musical director Stuart Price also explained the show to the BBC, saying: “A greatest hit doesn’t have to be a song. It can be a wardrobe, it can be a video, or a statement … Madonna’s reputation is for being highly precise and highly rehearsed across all departments.
“When you look at a tour of this scale, it has so many moving parts, so many elements, that everything has to be highly fixed.
“But there’s one thing that’s always dynamic, and that’s Madonna herself. Her personality is so strong, her interaction with the audience is so strong, that it creates opportunities for variation from night to night.”

Rage Against The Machine’s Tim Commerford has no idea if the band has split

OHMYGOSSIP — Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford has no idea if the band has split.
Drummer Brad Wilk claimed earlier this year that the ‘Killing in the Name’ hitmakers – also comprising Zack de la Rocha and Tom Morello -“will not be touring or playing live again” as a band.
He announced on Instagram: “I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the cancelled RATM shows.
“So, while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again.
“I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”
He signed off the post: “Bottom of my heart… Thank you to every person who has ever supported us.”
None of his bandmates had shared anything about the alleged breakup, and now Tim has admitted he is clueless as to whether they are still a band.
He told Rolling Stone: “I don’t know. I don’t get involved in that.
I’m the bass player. I just wait for someone to tell me what to do. Brad said what he said, but he’s one step above me. He’s in the No. 3 spot. I am the low man on the totem pole. That’s all I can tell you. I’m the bass player. The bass players always are the last people to find out about s*** like that.”
The musician insists he’ll return if they do reunite.
He added: “When the Rage light gets shined up in the clouds, like the bat-signal that Batman would see and would know that he had to go do some s***… that’s how I live it. And that feels the best for me.”
Frontman Zack and guitarist Tom are yet to break their silence on Brad’s post.
The rock band first briefly broke up in late 1994, due to creative differences, before regrouping for the KROQ Weenie Roast in June 1995.
In 2000, Zack quit the group because their “decision-making process completely failed”.
And they have had several periods of timeout over the years.

Purple Hearts star Sofia Carson drops heartbreaking ballad Joke’s On Me

OHMYGOSSIP — Sofia Carson has shared the heartbreaking ballad ‘Joke’s On Me’.
The 30-year-old singer and actress – who released her acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2022 – says every inch of the song carries “the beating of my heart” and that it was penned after a “sleepless night”.
She told fans on Facebook: “This song was born from the depths of my heart, one sleepless night many months ago…Every word. Every melody. Carry the beating of my heart. And now, it belongs to you.”
Earlier this year, the former Disney star – who has earned 2.2 billion streams for her solo music with 1.2 billion streams coming from her 2022 debut album and the acclaimed ‘Purple Hearts’ soundtrack releases – dropped the heartfelt song ‘I Hope You Know’.
Sofia starred alongside Nicholas Galtizine in the Netflix musical rom-com about aspiring singer-songwriter Cassie (Sofia) and a Marine named Luke (Nicholas), who agree to get married in order to receive military benefits and pay their debts.
Sofia previously admitted she would love there to be a sequel.
She told Variety: “Now fans have kind of been demanding a sequel and there’s so many fan theories and fan stories and potential spinoffs, so of course it’s lovely to think of a life for Cassie and Luke beyond this film.
“I adore being Cassie and I’d be curious to see where it goes. Who knows. You never know!”
Director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum also admitted it’s possible.
She said: “I mean, I could watch the two of them and their chemistry all day. And they’re just great people to work with, so I definitely won’t rule it out.”
However, she added: “I wouldn’t do anything unless we really, really loved it, because we want to stay true to the integrity. We haven’t landed on anything specific yet. It’s always a possibility.”

Listen now: Selena Gomez gets her ‘Love On’ in steamy ode to Paris

OHMYGOSSIP — Selena Gomez has shared a love song for Paris, ‘Love On’.
The 31-year-old star – who is loved-up with producer Benny Blanco, 35 – has dropped a new track all about her recent trip to the city of love.
The steamy lyrics include: “Why are we conversing over this steak tartare?
When we could be somewhere other than here/Making out in the back of a car?
Or in the back of a bar/Or we could make a memoir, yeah/On the back wall of the last stall/ In the bathroom at The Bazaar.”
Her first song of 2024 follows last year’s ‘Single Soon’ and is her first since confirming her romance with Benny, who produced the 2023 tune.
Selena is working on a new record, however, she recently confessed she might only have “one more album in me”.
The ‘Only Murders in the Building’ star admitted she would choose acting over music if she had to choose as she pondered retiring from the latter art form.
Speaking on the ‘SmartLess’ podcast, she began: “I started having a lot of fun with music and then touring was really fun. But I was doing my TV show at the same time [‘Wizards of Waverly Place’] and I just found it really fun so I just kept going but the older I get, the more I’m kind of like, I would like to find something to just settle on.”
The former child star suffered burnout early on in her career.
She recalled: “I went to a mental institute and cancelled one of my tours.
“It just got to me because I love working and it distracts me from bad things.”
Suggesting she might quit music after one last record, she continued: “I do feel like I have one more album in me but I would probably choose acting.”
When it was suggested that she could still do both careers, she replied: “You’re right, but I am going to want to chill because I’m tired.”
The Rare Beauty founder admitted she never actually intended to become a singer, until she was packaged as an all-rounder by Disney after she recorded the theme tune for ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’.
Although she hasn’t confirmed details of a new record, she told Vanity Fair the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Rare’ will be “really powerful, strong, very pop.”
She continued: “The theme generally is freedom – freedom from relationships, freedom from the darkness.”

‘I’m a big fan’: Dolly Parton welcomes Beyonce to country music

OHMYGOSSIP — Country music icon Dolly Parton has given Beyoncé her seal of approval after she dropped two tracks from her upcoming country album.
The 42-year-old superstar became the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ after it debuted at No.1 on the US chart, and the other track ’16 Carriages’ has also racked up some impressive streams.
They will feature on ‘Renaissance Act II’ – the second part of her planned ‘Renaissance’ trilogy – which will land on March 29.
There has been a big debate surrounding the former Destiny’s Child star’s foray into country, but the Queen of Country has spoken.
Dolly, 78, shared on social media: “I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album.
“So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can’t wait to hear the full album!”
Country stars Lainey Wilson and Maren Morris have both praised the tracks, with the former declaring “country music has become cool again”.
On the other end, outspoken ‘212’ hitmaker Azealia Banks, went as far as accusing Beyoncé’s husband, music mogul Jay-Z, of “bullying” her into doing country music.
The 32-year-old rapper began a rant on her Instagram Stories post: “I love you down, but them R’n’B runs over the Leslie feist back beats is giving Pickmesha.
“Nothing country about it. You’re setting yourself up to be ridiculed again. There’s a theatrical element to country music. Them [country] critics are not just going to accept an ugly blond wig and bullying from Jay-Z. It’s giving big-time musical grift. (sic)”
Referring to country star K. Michelle (aka Puddin), 41, she continued: “Yes, Black girls can make country music, but you’re just really not hitting the button.
“K. Michelle, this is your turn to really execute. It’s no shade, but K. Michelle truly understands the assignment.”
Turns out, Michelle – whose real name is Kimberly Michelle Pate – is fully behind Beyoncé’s foray into country.
She posted to X (formerly Twitter): “Y’all been mentioning me all night.
“I’m just happy to be spoken about in my genre. I love Bey and will be supporting her like I always do.”

Billie Eilish gives major update on third album

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish’s new album is almost ready to go.
The 22-year-old singer has given a major update on her highly anticipated third studio record, and suggested fans don’t have much longer to wait.
Alongside photos of herself in a black balaclava with white stars, she wrote on Instagram: “My album is mastered.”
A record being mastered is typically at the end of the recording process, although Billie is yet to offer further details about the collection.
It will be her third effort after 2019 debut ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’, and follow up ‘Happier Than Ever’ two years later.
She also released two-track EP ‘Guitar Songs’ in 2022, and dropped ‘What Was I Made For?’ on last year’s ‘Barbie’ soundtrack.
Back in September, Billie confirmed there was “lots of music coming” as she teased the upcoming album.
She told The Cookout: “There is lots of music coming. There is a whole album of music coming.
“We’re in the final stages of making it, so that doesn’t mean it’s about to come out, but it is getting there, and it’s very exciting.”
Three months later, she again stayed tight lipped but did reveal the LP was “almost done”.
Appearing on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, she said: “We are almost done with this new album. So, at some point, you will know more, but I’m not gonna say anything right now.”
Billie was creatively reinvigorated by ‘What Was I Made For?’, having convinced herself “it was over” after her second album.
She recalled during a songwriter roundtable: “We’d been trying and it wasn’t doing what it usually would do in me. I was honestly like, ‘Damn, maybe I hit my peak and I don’t know how to write anymore?’ ”
A phone call from ‘Barbie’ director Greta Gerwig – and a request to write a song for the soundtrack – was the push she needed.
She added: “Greta saved me, really, honestly. It brought us out of it and immediately we were inspired and wrote so much more after that.”

Slayer are back! Thrash metal band to headline 2 festivals in shock comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Slayer have announced a surprise reunion, five years after their farewell tour.
The thrash metal band bowed out of live performances in November 2019 when their lengthy farewell run of shows came to an end, but the ‘Raining Blood’ hitmakers – made up of Kerry King
Tom Araya, Paul Bostaph, and Gary Holt – will return to headline two festivals, Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, and Riot Fest in Chicago, this September.
In a post on their Instagram account, Slayer wrote: “It gets you when you least expect it.
9.20-9.22.24 – Riot Fest – Chicago, IL
9.27.24 – Louder Than Life – Louisville, KY (sic)”
The surprise news comes just weeks after Kerry announced a solo album, ‘From Hell I Rise’, which will drop on May 17th.
Speaking recently about Slayer’s final show in November 2019, the guitarist said: “I knew early on that I wasn’t done, and I had no intention of not continuing to play.”
Kerry also admitted earlier this month that he was “pretty sure” Slayer wouldn’t tour again, but admitted there could be “a scenario” in which the band would play a show again.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: “Will Slayer tour again? I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen.
“Could Slayer play a show again? I’m sure there’s a scenario.
“Am I looking for it? No, I’m just getting ready to start my career.
“So if that happens, it happens. But I’m going to be doing this for the next 10 years at least.”
Shortly after Slayer completed their farewell tour, the band’s manager Rick Sales admitted he couldn’t see them reuniting “at all”.
Speaking in December 2019, he told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “I’m not sensing [a reunion] at all … let’s put the touring to bed.
“I’ve got a couple of ideas [for future projects], but we haven’t made any decisions.
“Right now, they’re preoccupied with the end, and I imagine it’s emotional. It’s emotional for me … They’ve been doing this for so long. They just said, ‘OK, this is enough.’
“My analogy is Jerry Seinfeld, who had probably the biggest TV show when he went out on top. I respect the band for the decision. If you’re going to do it, this is the way.”

Foreigner founder Mick Jones is battling Parkinson’s disease

OHMYGOSSIP — Foreigner founder Mick Jones has revealed he’s been battling Parkinson’s disease for “several years”.
The 79-year-old musician is the last remaining original member in the rock band – which is currently completing a mammoth final tour – and he’s been unable to perform live since 2022, due to the neurodegenerative disorder – symptoms of which include tremors, stiffness, balance problems and slow mobility.
The ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ hitmaker – who underwent heart surgery in 2012 – admits it’s “a daily struggle” dealing with his symptoms and explained that it’s important to “preserve” his legacy and has vowed to “remain a presence” behind the scenes.
In a social media statement issued this week, he explained: “Fans will have become very aware that for some time now, I have not been performing onstage with the band. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I want everyone to know that I am doing alright.
“However, I’ve always liked to be at my best when performing onstage, and sadly, at present, I find that a bit difficult. I am still very much involved in the background with Foreigner and remain a presence. Parkinson’s is a daily struggle; the important thing is to persevere and remind myself of the wonderful career I’ve had in music. I thank all the fans who have supported Foreigner throughout the years and continue to attend our concerts — I want you to know I appreciate your support; it always means so very much to me, but especially so at this point in my life.”
The final shows he did perform at saw him come out for a select number of songs.
In his absence, bassist Jeff Pilson has taken Mick’s place. The group is fronted by Kelly Hansen.
Foreigner are one of the world’s bestselling bands of all time, having sold more than 80 million records worldwide.
The original lineup also included Ian McDonald of King Crimson and Lou Gramm from Black Sheep, alongside Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, and Ed Gagliardi.
The ‘Feels Like the First Time’ group’s original members and former backing vocalist and bassist Rick Wills recently received their first-ever nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Just Another Prank: Liam Gallagher NOT playing Glastonbury with John Squire

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has been branded a “wind-up” after he appeared to confirm he will play Glastonbury with John Squire.
The former Oasis frontman and the ex-Stone Roses guitarist release their self-titled joint album on March 1, and the Britpop legend sparked speculation he could be set to rock Worthy Farm with the fellow Mancunian rocker in June.
A fan asked him on X/Twitter: “Will we see you and Squire at Glastonbury this summer LG?”
And Liam replied: “Yeah.”
The 51-year-old singer – who last played Glastonbury as a solo artist in 2019 – didn’t say whether it would be this year’s event.
However, a source close to Liam, who loves to joke around with his followers, has since told The Independent: “[Liam’s] NOT playing Glastonbury… or the BRITs for that matter.”
Fans will be able to catch the duo on their tour in March and April.
The pair will hit the road for a series of intimate shows in the UK, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany, and America, including two nights in London at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on March 25 and the Troxy on March 26, which holds just 3,100 people.
Their band includes bassist Barrie Cadogan – who has worked with Liam’s arch-nemesis sibling Noel Gallagher’s longtime pal Paul Weller, whom Liam has mocked over the years – and Joey Waronker (R.E.M. and Beck) on drums.
Jake Bugg is set to support the pair on all dates except Brooklyn.
Liam said: “I can’t wait for people to hear the album. I think the people that are into the Stone Roses and Oasis and that kinda thing, I think they’ll [redacted] love it. It’s spiritual, it’s crucial. LG x.”
John added: “It was really inspiring to have those Knebworth gigs fresh in my mind as I started writing. Then it was a case of trying to steer it away from all being too rocky, and trying to mix up the sentiments as well. I like the way that in some parts, it’s quite melancholic and it can make you well up, but there are other parts that are kind of irreverent, rude or crude. There’s a little bit of everything in there, I think it’s a really good mix. I had a hunch that we’d sound good together, but I wasn’t prepared for it to be such a good fit.”
Liam first teased their project after he surprised fans by bringing John out for his pair of Knebworth shows in June 2022 to perform Oasis’ 1995 classic ‘Champagne Supernova’, as he did at their iconic 1996 gigs there.
So far fans have heard the singles ‘Just Another Rainbow’ and ‘Mars to Liverpool’.
‘Live Forever’ hitmaker Liam has boasted that the upcoming collection is “the best record” since The Beatles’ ‘Revolver’.

James Blunt reveals You’re Beautiful was based on a true story: ‘I wondered what might have been…’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Blunt’s classic track ‘You’re Beautiful’ was based on a true story.
The 49-year-old singer topped the charts with the love ballad that focuses on a man accepting that his love for another woman will always be unrequited almost 20 years ago and has now revealed that the track was in fact inspired by an ex-girlfriend.
Writing in a piece for Metro newspaper’s Rush Hour Crush column, he said: “‘I do believe in love at first sight, definitely.
“I think we’ve all experienced that moment where we just pass by someone and catch their eye and wonder what might have been.
“And, yeah, first impressions are everything. I can feel someone’s spirit and soul when I first meet them.
“People do have an energy, and you can sense someone who’s aggressive, or someone who’s kind, or someone who’s gentle. Silence speaks often so much more than words.”
“It’s a true story. She was an ex. She was with her new boyfriend – I didn’t know that he existed. But we walked past each other, we caught each other’s eye.”
The ‘Goodbye My Lover’ singer – who is now married to Sofia Wellesley – recalled “living a lifetime” for the split second that he and his ex clapped eyes on each other and immediately felt inspired to put pen to paper for the now-anthemic track.
He added: “We lived a lifetime in that moment but I didn’t do anything about it. I just went home and wrote a song about it and got a house out of it – the whole thing. So, I’m happy for them.”
Following its release, the track sold 625,000 copies in the United Kingdom and James’ debut record ‘Back to Bedlam’ became the best-selling album of the decade.

Mary J Blige ‘feels good’ to have made a big impact

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary J. Blige “feels good” to have opened “so many doors” for other women.
The 53-year-old singer has reflected on her legacy and “absolutely” knows the impact she has had on others and admitted making a difference is “what sustained” her over the years.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I can say that, in my life right now, I opened so many doors. I’ve given women a voice to speak their truth. It seems like everyone from pop to R+B to every female is telling their life story or something that’s happened because I let them know in 1994 that it’s OK.
“I use it as my therapy, and so a lot of people are using their music as their therapy as well…
“It feels good to say that I am the reason for a lot of things that are going on right now in the industry… I’m grateful to watch the talent and these women that are expressing themselves through their songs.”
The ‘Family Affair’ singer also credits music for having “healed” her and giving her an outlet to express difficult emotions.
She said: “Music has healed me tremendously. It is the reason why I’m probably still around. It’s been a vessel to help me get so much pain out…
“We go through so much. It’s not for no reason. It’s to help someone else, for someone else to see us falling and get back up, and falling and get back up, and falling and get back, and still come and be triumphant and not be bitter.”
Mary “really, really realised” she was talented at the age of just seven and recalled how she was “singing for [her] life” in the early 1990s, knowing finding success would be able to lift her family out of poverty.
She said: “My family was still in the projects when ‘Real Love’ was released. I was still in the projects.
“I remember… just really singing for my life, like, literally singing for my life, singing to get my family out of the projects, singing to save our lives because we did not have a great one where we lived.”

Kasabian share euphoric new single Call

OHMYGOSSIP — Kasabian have returned with the euphoric dance anthem ‘Call’.
Fans got the first taste of the band’s follow-up to 2022’s ‘The Alchemist’s Euphoria’ with the slow-burner ‘Algorithms’ – which is about the difference between AI and real humans – last year.
‘Call’ also has an epic music video, helmed by the duo Waxxwork, which sees a phone fall out of a plane and had to be filmed in Albania to be legal.
The two tracks appear on their upcoming LP, ‘Happenings’, which is due out this year.
Frontman Serge Pizzorno said of the new track: “This was the launchpad.
“Quieter on the verses, loud for the chorus – it’s dance music! The first bit is where you get ready, the second bit is where we all go crazy. It’s really fun and just feels like now. When I finished the track, I felt I wanted to go to a gig by whoever was behind it.”
The ‘Club Foot’ rockers – also comprising Chris Edwards, Ian Matthews and Tim Carter – can’t wait to perform songs from the new album when they put on a huge open-air concert in the group’s birthplace of Leicester’s Victoria Park on July 6, and want fans to feel a real human “connection”.
Serge said: “Thinking about where we are with phone screens, us being able to create something that people can be a part of in the real world has got to be a positive.
“I’ve seen it in people’s faces at the shows, that need to experience something that just snaps you out of yourself, to feel a connection. Well, that’s Happenings.
“It’s 20 years this year since we released our debut album, but we felt the best way this band, at this time, should celebrate that was by making a new album. And we’re extremely grateful for it.”
