James Blunt to release new album in 2017

OHMYGOSSIP — James Blunt is to release a new album in 2017.
The ‘You’re Beautiful’ hitmaker surprised his 1.2 million followers by announcing his plans to drop a record on Tuesday morning (13.12.16), whilst also joking that it would be bad news for his haters if they thought 2016 was a “bad” year.
He wrote on Twitter: “If you thought 2016 was bad – I’m releasing an album in 2017. (sic)”
The 42-year-old singer/songwriter hasn’t released new material since his 2013 album ‘Moon Landing’ – which was re-released in November 2014 as ‘Moon Landing – Apollo Edition’ with five bonus tracks.
Earlier this year, Blunt announced that he had started working on his fifth studio LP and had hope to release it later this year through Atlantic Records.
While little has been said about the record, ‘I Took a Pill in Ibiza’ hitmaker Mike Posner has revealed he worked on some songs with the ‘Goodbye My Lover’ musician, but he’s not sure if they’ll feature on the final track-list.
He previously said: “I wrote with James Blunt this year. We wrote a couple of songs on the piano. I’m not sure if they’ll make his album but we’ll see. It was pretty cool. He’s really talented so I was so happy to work with him.”
Blunt is known for outrageous comments and last year he formed a bromance with Ed Sheeran, when he presented him with a gong at the ARIA Awards in Australia and joked that he had given the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker herpes.
He told the flame-haired hunk he contracted the viral disease from a bottle of beer he stole from him.
While collecting the accolade to honour his success in the country, Ed recalled: “I went to one of James’ gigs when I was 14 at the Cambridge Junction, and I stole his bottle of Corona – and there was 20 people in the crowd, and he went on to sell 20 million records, which is alright, isn’t it?”
And James – who is often making witty remarks to fans on Twitter – quickly replied: “That’s where you got the herpes from, mate.”
Ed, 25, played along with the joke, adding: “It still itches.”

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers to headline BST in Hyde Park 2017

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will be joined by special guest Stevie Nicks at British Summer Time Hyde Park in 2017.
The ‘I Won’t Back Down’ hitmaker will be joined by his band mates, the Fleetwood Mac singer and US rockers Lumineers as they celebrate four decades as a band with their only UK performance of 2017, and a rare one at that, as it is only the second time they’ve played in 18 years, following a triumphant performance at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2012 and two sold-out shows at the Royal Albert Hall.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are the fourth headliners confirmed for BST in Hyde Park following the announcement of Green Day and Phil Collins and Justin Bieber.
Now approaching its fifth year, Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park has been host to some of the biggest and best live acts since its debut in 2013. From The Rolling Stones to The Who, Neil Young to Stevie Wonder and Carole King to Taylor Swift.
Meanwhile, it could be Tom Petty fans last opportunity to see him perform as the 66-year-old rocker recently hinted that the 40th anniversary tour could be the last.
He recently said: “I’m thinking it may be the last trip around the country.
“It’s very likely we’ll keep playing, but will we take on 50 shows in one tour? I don’t think so. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was thinking this might be the last big one. We’re all on the backside of our 60s. I have a granddaughter now I’d like to see as much as I can. I don’t want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that’s a lot of time.”
Tickets for the trio’s appearance go on general sale on Friday December 16.

The Weeknd's shows to 'feel like opera'

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd wants his live performances to “feel like opera”.
The 26-year-old musician – real name Abel Tesfaye – has revealed he has a very particular way of setting up his shows, and claims he dislikes playing festivals where he has to play during the day, as he believes his sound is “night-time music”.
He said: “Environment is very important to me.
“Sometimes I have to perform during the day for festivals, and my music does not work in the daytime. It is night-time music.
“When you come to my show, I want it to feel like opera, like a theatre. The darkness is important for me.”
And the ‘Starboy’ hitmaker says he even teamed up with set designer Es Devlin – who famously worked for Kanye West, Beyoncé, and Adele on their live tour set-up – to come up with something “three-dimensional”.
He said of Es: “Her real passion is theatre and opera. She looks at the job different than every other set designer.
“It’s art – it’s not about lighting or crazy effects. It’s about what you’re looking at, and the audience is part of that moment. It’s very three-dimensional.”
‘The Hills’ singer referenced Kanye’s ‘Saint Pablo Tour’ shows in which he performed upon a stage suspended over the crowds in the floor seating, saying he too aspires to “animate space” in the same way.
He told Billboard magazine: “Look at Kanye’s shows – he changed the game. We’re looking at floor seats differently now in arena shows. I want to animate the space like that on this tour.”
Fans of the ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ singer will be able to see the star’s set design choices put into action when he embarks on his world tour in promotion of new album ‘Starboy’ in February. The tour comes to the UK in March.

Ed Sheeran's new album to 'break the internet'

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran’s new album will “break the internet.”
Amy Wadge – who has worked with the flame-haired hunk on numerous occasions – has teased that the 25-year-old singer’s third LP will drop “really soon” and will certainly hit the headlines.
Speaking to ‘Newsbeat’, the 40-year-old songwriter said: “The third album is on its way and is the best thing I’ve made. His album is done. All of this year he’s been preparing for his next album.”
The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker hasn’t been seen on the music scene for 12 months after he announced he was taking a year-long break to focus on his family and catch up on things that have passed him by since he was catapulted into the limelight in 2012.
He said at the time: “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while, I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed. To my friends and family, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, my 3rd album is on the way and is the best thing I’ve made thus far. See you all next album and thank you for being amazing. (sic)”
Although his album hasn’t dropped yet – despite autumn passing us by – Ed stuck to his word as he came out of his hiatus last month to perform at a fundraising event for a children’s hospice.
He also hit the headlines over the weekend when it was revealed he’d penned the winning ‘X Factor’ song ‘When Christmas Comes Around’ for Matt Terry.

Take That fans hold ER record

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams claims Take That once held a record for packing out accident and emergency departments with drunk middle-aged women from their concerts.
The 42-year-old singer insists when the group got back together for their 35-date ‘Progress Live Tour’ in 2011, A&Es at hospitals were full of ladies who had been to their shows and had one too many beverages.
He said: “When we reformed to do the ‘Progress Tour’, we held the record for the most middle-aged women at the ER due to being too drunk … it’s true.”
Robbie – who is teetotal after previous battles with drink and drugs – also claims Take That held a record for having the most people at a show who fainted and ended up in an emergency room (ER).
Speaking to Mike Toolan and Kelly Pegg at the Key 103 Christmas Live pop party, he added: “Back in the day we held the record for the most people fainting at a concert who had to go to the ER.”
Robbie has previously admitted he is “proud” of the group’s fans who have a few drinks before their concerts.
Speaking at their concert in Cardiff on June 15, 2011, as part of their ‘Progress Live Tour’, he told the crowd: “We used to have the record for the number of girls fainting.
“Now we have the record for the most middle-aged boozed-up women. I, Robbie Williams, am proud of you.”
What’s more, a steward at the gig described the concert-goers as “worse” than rugby fans.
They said: “This lot are worse than the rugby fans we get here. They’ve been boozing for ages and are hammered.”

Metallica's James Hetfield moved by lost soul Amy Winehouse

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica frontman James Hetfield was inspired to write a song about Amy Winehouse after being affected by the “misconnection with reality” that was apparent in the documentary ‘Amy’.
The 53-year-old rocker was both fascinated and horrified by what he witnessed in Asif Kapadia’s 2015 film, as he watched the drug-addicted musician turn from a “joyous person” to a lost soul who was “trying to escape” her life.
Hetfield decided to detail his feelings about the ‘Rehab’ singer in the track ‘Moth Into The Flame’ from ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct’.
Speaking on Canadian radio station 102.1 The Edge, he said: “Just watching that movie was extremely saddening – how her life went from such a lively joyous person, to someone who was just trying to escape the reality of where she was.
“It really hit me in the one part of the movie where she was lost in her mind, it seemed, and she was just leaving her flat in England. The press were just hanging out in front of her place all the time, snapping these pictures of her, saying, ‘Hey, Amy, how’s it going?’ Talking to her like they know her. They just don’t notice – they wouldn’t say, ‘You look skinny, you look unhealthy.’ There was a total misconnection there with reality.”
Winehouse tragically died in July 2011 at the age of 27 from alcohol poisoning after a heavy drinking binge.
‘Hardwired… To Self-Destruct’ is Metallica’s 10th studio album and their first since 2008’s ‘Death Magnetic’ and Hetfield previously revealed a lot of the tracks on the LP were influenced in some way by Winehouse.

Anne-Marie is 'always broody'

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne-Marie says making ‘Rockabye’ made her more “broody”.
The 25-year-old pop beauty – who sings on the track with Clean Bandit and Sean Paul – has been itching to have a child since was was 18, but admits making the chart-stopping ballad made her levels of broodiness explode.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she admitted: “I’m always broody and do think about babies a lot – the song does put it in your mind, yeah.
“But I have been since I was like 18.”
However, the ‘Alarm’ hitmaker says she’d like to have a pet dog before she becomes a parent as she doesn’t think she’s ready to be a responsible adult and look after a child, let alone a dog.
She said: “I do really want a dog first though.
“I went back home the other day and when I got there my dad went upstairs and started going: ‘Come on, Come on then’ as if calling a dog.
“Then he brings down this fake dog that can walk.
“But even that is a lot of effort so maybe I’ll wait.”
The blonde beauty would certainly have to calm down her crazy antics if she is to become a mother.
Anne-Marie almost got kicked off a plane recently when she was downing champagne after finding out ‘Rockabye’ went to number one.
Air hostesses plied the singer with 10 bottles of champagne and some vodka, which resulted in Anne-Marie turning the flight into the scene from the comedy film ‘Bridesmaids’ when lead character Annie Walker [Kirsten Wiig] is drunk in first class.
She recalled: “I ended up so drunk on this plane and I was running up and down the aisles singing! I was making everyone else hate me and being so annoying.
“It was just like that scene in ‘Bridesmaids’ when she goes into first class drunk! It was so fun though.”

Glen Matlock offers 'substantial reward' for stolen guitars

OHMYGOSSIP — Glen Matlock is offering a “substantial reward” to the person who helps find his three “stolen” guitars.
The former Sex Pistols star – who was their original bass player on-and-off from 1975 to 2008 – has issued a statement after the expensive equipment including a classic Ivory Fender and a Modern Mexican Precision Bass went missing recently near to his home in the W9 area of London, and has said he is willing to fork out a large sum of money to anyone who can supply him with information regarding the missing items.
Alongside pictures of himself playing with the stringed instruments posted on Facebook on Saturday (10.12.16), he wrote: “The following 3 guitars have recently been stolen from near my London W9 home.
1961 Ivory Fender Precision Bass
Modern Mexican Black Precision Bass with changed tortoise shell pick guard
Blonde Guild D37 Acoustic with built in pick up.
All were in soft cases.
Please keep an eye out for them.
A substantial reward will be paid for the information leading to their recovery.
Many thanks,
Glen. (sic)”
It comes after the son of the late manager of the Sex Pistols burned memorabilia worth millions.
Joe Corre, the son of Malcolm McLauren – who passed away in 2010 – and Vivienne Westwood, set fire to the extensive piles of punk memorabilia on a boat in central London to mark the 40th anniversary since the iconic band’s hit single ‘Anarchy in the UK’.
The total value of the merchandise is thought to be somewhere between £5 million and £10 million, and consisted of clothes, posters, and other music based memorabilia.
Matlock dubbed Joe as a “nincompoop” – a foolish or silly person.
He said: “I want to paraphrase Monty Python – he’s not the saviour, he’s a naughty boy. I think that Joe is not the anti-Christ, I think he’s a nincompoop.”

Drake's More Life for 2017 release

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake’s ‘More Life’ project has been slated for a 2017 release.
The 30-year-old rapper took to Instagram on Sunday (11.12.16) to share an update with his followers, telling them he was back on his feet after an “ankle injury” – which led him to postpone three of his dates on his ‘Summer Sixteen Tour’ – and that his new project, will be coming out soon.
Alongside a video of himself playing basketball, the ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker wrote: “Finally got to play today after recovering from the ankle injury. Happy to be back at 100 and ready for More Buckets More Shows and More Life 2017 (sic)”
The ‘One Dance’ singer’s manager Oliver El-Khatib also made an announcement on Drake’s Apple Music radio show ‘OVO Sound’, revealing the release date to be early in the new year.
Originally the album – which will feature the songs ‘Two Birds One Stone’, ‘Fake Love’, and ‘Sneakin’ alongside a remix to rapper Dave’s ‘Wanna Know’ – was slated for release in December, after the rapper previewed the tracks on the station.
He said at the time: “I’m off mixtapes, you know? I wanna do a playlist, I wanna give you a collection of songs that become the soundtrack to your life. So this is more like the playlist. Like I said, dropping in December, all original music from me, but you may hear some tunes from the family on there.”
And the star also said he wouldn’t just drop “one song” as he likes to keep his listeners “happy”.
He added: “I just wanna celebrate life. ‘More Life’, that’s what we live by. That’s something that we don’t take for granted. So today, like I said you’re getting some new music. I’m not going to tell you how many songs it is, I’m just going to let you hear it. I know most people think I’m dropping like one song, but you know me, I like to make all the listeners and all the fans happy.”

Louis Tomlinson and Steve Aoki top iTunes charts

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson and Steve Aoki’s ‘Just Hold On’ has topped the iTunes charts.
After the pair debuted their collaboration on ‘The X Factor’ on Saturday (10.12.16), in a tribute to Louis’ mother Johannah Deakin who died during the week following a secret battle with leukaemia, fans rushed to buy the track and it shot to the top of the iTunes charts in the UK and in many countries around the world.
Steve shared a picture of the UK iTunes charts on his Snapchat account and wrote: “Wow thank u. Number 1!!! (sic).” He also included an emoji of the British flag.
The track pushed Louis’ former bandmate Zayn Malik’s collaboration with Taylor Swift, ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’, into the number two spot.
Speaking after the performance on ‘The X Factor’, Simon Cowell told a tearful Louis: “I have to say something to you. I’ve known you for six years, what you’ve just done – the bravery.
“I respect you as an artist and I respect you as a person. Your mum was so proud of you Louis and she was so looking forward to this performance. She’s watching over you now and you’ve done her so proud.”
The 24-year-old singer bravely took to the stage to perform the track in memory of his mother, as she had been eagerly looking forward to his planned performance.
It features the poignant lyrics: “What do you do when a chapter ends / Do you close the book and never read it again / Where do you go when your story’s done / You can be who you were or who you’ll become.”
The upbeat song – which ended with the four judges, Simon, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger, and the 12,000 strong crowd at Wembley Arena giving Louis an extended standing ovation – also features the lyrics: “If it all goes wrong, darling just hold on / The sun goes down and it comes back up / The world, it turns no matter what / If it all goes wrong, darling just hold on.”

John Legend: 'I won't match All Of Me success'

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend doesn’t think he will ever match the success of ‘All Of Me’.
The ballad, which John wrote about his wife Chrissy Teigen, was a global smash hit and he isn’t bothered about trying to recreate that with another song because he believes it would be impossible.
He told The Courier Mail: “I didn’t ever try to pressure myself to match the commercial success of ‘All Of Me’; it can’t get much bigger than that song and you should be grateful for that success.”
However, John also revealed that he has been getting inspiration for his new songs from his baby daughter Luna.
He explained: “I had songs going around in my head about my daughter before I even met her. There are a bunch of other songs about Luna that didn’t make the album because I like to keep going until I find the right song.”
Meanwhile, John recently admitted he doesn’t think he would have landed a record deal if it wasn’t for Kanye West.
The 37-year-old singer is forever “grateful” that the ‘Famous’ rapper took interest in his music and signed him to his record label GOOD Music as he doesn’t think he would have inked a major deal without his mentoring.
He said: “I don’t know if I would’ve gotten signed to Columbia and Sony without [Kanye’s] help and his work with me on my music back then, so I’ll always be grateful to him for that.
“I got turned down by every major record label who I met with – including Sony [Legend’s current record label] – and you know, I had to keep persisting despite getting told no and wait till I got to yes.”
However, Legend – who released his debut album ‘Get Lifted’ in 2004 – admitted he thinks it was “helpful” he became famous when he had matured into an adult because he was already aware of the “real world”.
He explained: “I think it was helpful for me to become famous when I was an adult already; I was twenty-six years old. I think it’s harder for people that become famous when they’re a lot younger because you never had to be an adult without being in this very unrealistic world. It is unrealistic if you don’t know what the real world is like and me having lived in the real world for a while was very helpful.”

Tom Odell's disaster date excuse

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Odell claimed his house had burned down to get out of a bad date.
The 26-year-old singer admits he hasn’t had the best of luck with women and has even resorted to desperate measures like climbing out of a toilet window in order to cut short one evening.
He said: “I’ve been on some bad dates. One was so bad I actually climbed out of the toilet window.
“I’ve definitely come up with a few excuses too, like, ‘My friend is going through something, I’ve got to go’ or ‘My house is burning down’. There’s only so many times you can use that one though.”
The ‘Another Love’ hitmaker once attempted to write a song in a “cheesy” attempt to apologise to a girlfriend, but now thinks the most romantic gift he could ever give someone would be a book.
He said: “When I was 19, I made the awful mistake of writing a song for someone.
“I was in the doghouse because I’d forgotten to get her a Valentine’s Day present and I wrote a song because it was the quickest thing I can do.
“It wasn’t very well written and was so obvious and cheesy.
“Now I think that the best gift you can get someone is a book inspired by that person.”
Tom never singles out a single physical feature that he finds attractive but admits he is unsure exactly what it is that draws him to someone.
He told Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine: “I’ve never said that someone has great hair or a lovely a**e.
“It’s like a symphony… it’s the violins, the piano, the percussion, and when they all comes together, it’s attractive even though you don’t know why.”

Nick Jonas teased for being a Shania Twain fan

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Jonas used to get teased at school for singing Shania Twain songs.
The 24-year-old singer is a huge fan of the star but before presenting her with the Icon award at Billboard’s 2016 Women in Music ceremony on Friday (09.12.16), Nick revealed he had gotten some grief over his love of her music.
He said: “To all the mean kids at school who made fun of me for singing ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’. Suck it – I’m getting a hug.”
Shania also praised Kesha – who is locked in a battle with Sony imprint Kemosabe records over her contract after accusing producer Dr Luke of sexually assaulting her – for being brave.
She said: “I want to thank Kesha for being so open-hearted. This is what songwriting is all about.”
And Shania, 51, insisted that she doesn’t always find it easy to be strong.
She explained: “I don’t always feel brave, I don’t always feel courageous and confident. But on a day like today, celebrating women who have come so far in the industry – we all know the only way to get here is by dreaming, working really, really hard, and being courageous.”
Madonna (Woman of the Year), Halsey (Rising Star), Andra Day (Powerhouse), Meghan Trainor (Chart Topper), Maren Morris (Breakthrough Star), Kesha (Trailblazer) and Alessia Cara (Rule Breaker) were among the women honoured at the ceremony.

Adele fight back against ticket touts

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele is taking a stand against ticket touts.
The 28-year-old singer has joined forces with Twickets, a fan-to-fan ticket resale platform that operates with a face-value policy, for her Wembley shows next year.
Adele has appointed Twickets the official resale partner for her concerts in a bid to stop secondary sites selling on tickets to her shows at vastly inflated prices.
A note on the official page for her Wembley dates on June 28, 29 and July 1 and 2 states: “Adele ticket holders who can no longer attend a show may sell them on to other fans through Twickets at no more than the price they originally paid.”
Only fans whose names are on the tickets will be allowed into the shows and the only way to change the name on a ticket is through Twickets.
Twickets owner Richard Davies said: “Venues will only accept resale tickets where the person’s name matches the name on the tickets. The only place you can legitimately change the name on the ticket is on Twickets.”
Twickets is available on web, mobile and social media and is the official resale solution for artists such as Mumford & Sons, One Direction, The 1975, and Catfish and the Bottlemen, as well as some of the UK’s leading festivals.
Twickets protects its users with a guarantee against fraud and overpricing and serves to steer fans away from the exploitative secondary ticketing platforms.
