Kylie Minogue hits the studio

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue is back in the studio.
The Australian pop superstar has sparked speculation she’s started recording vocals for her much-awaited 14th studio album as the 48-year-old beauty has taken to social media to share a picture of her microphone.
Alongside the photo, she wrote: “So, yeah…… this is happening (sic)”, along with the microphone emoji.
The ‘Locomotion’ singer has a lot of things she wants to achieve with her professional life over the next year as she previously revealed she wants to make a follow-up to 2014’s ‘Kiss Me Once’.
Before the festive period, she said: “I’d love to make a new pop album and go on tour.”
And the ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ hitmaker is reportedly set to sign a new record deal with BMG UK.
The blonde beauty – who parted ways with Jay Z’s Roc Nation management company in 2015 following a series of professional disappointments – is said to be planning to join her former Parlophone boss Jamie Nelson at the label, following a frantic bidding way.
The Sun reported that Universal were also keen to get Kylie to sign to them for her comeback but the star opted for BMG UK because of her previous working relationship with Jamie.
Kylie’s last album under-performed in the charts and she was reportedly also disappointed that many promised sponsorship deals and endorsements never materialized so she has decided to make a break from Jay Z’s company last year.
A source said at the time: “The deal just didn’t work out for either side and she thinks they didn’t ever understand her as an artist. Her last album was nowhere near as successful as she hoped. She now wants go in a different direction.”
Kylie’s contract with Jay Z’s firm – which is home to stars such as Rihanna, Calvin Harris and Shakira – ended after the Australian leg of her ‘Kiss Me Once’ tour.
Kylie is looking to reclaim her crown as queen of dance pop and wants to build on the success of the single ‘Right Here, Right Now’ which she recorded with legendary Italian producer Giorgio Moroder.
The source explained: “Kylie’s got new music ready to go that she’s made with Nile Rodgers, Disclosure and Giorgio. She wants to take more control of her career. Kylie’s also keen to do more acting. She has signed with a big name agent in the US.”

Liam Gallagher to play Lollapalooza

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has been announced for Lollapalooza in Paris in July.
The Oasis frontman has joined the line-up for the annual festival, which takes on July 22 and July 23 at Hippodrome De Longchamp, at its new location in the French capital along with Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Weeknd, Imagine Dragons, Lana Del Rey and many more.
The ‘Supersonic’ hitmaker has a busy year ahead as he’s currently working on his debut solo LP, and according to his pal Richard Ashcroft, he is to play a show with the former Verve singer later this year.
Asked whose offer he would accept if both Liam and his brother Noel Gallagher – his former bandmate who he has barely spoken to since Oasis ended in 2009 – asked to perform with him, Richard said: “I would have to politely tell them both that I had something else on and stay at home.
“I played a show with Noel a few months ago and I’m playing with Liam later in the year.”
To date, 44-year-old Liam’s only other announced solo show is at Bergenfest in Norway in June, but Richard, 45, is not one of the artists currently named on the bill.
Richard inspired Oasis’ track ‘Cast No Shadow’ from their seminal 1995 album ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ but he admits he has no idea what Noel, 49, meant by the lyrics.
He said: “I think it’s one of the best tunes Noel’s ever written as well.
“It’s a great honour to be a part of that and then when the album exploded like that it was just great. I was buzzing. I think it was almost an afterthought [for Noel] but there were so many gags at the time because I was so thin, ‘Is it because he’s so thin that he casts no shadow, is that what it’s about?’
“I did say to him, ‘Am I a vampire? What are you trying to say, man?'”
Tickets for Lollapalooza go on sale on January 19.

Liberty X to reform as girl group

OHMYGOSSIP — Liberty X are to reform as a girl group.
The ‘Just A Little’ hitmakers have reportedly decided to ditch band mate Kevin Simm – who on ‘The Voice UK’ in 2016 – and Tony Lundon to form a female-only trio as the other two are busy working on their own solo projects and Michelle Heaton, Jessica Taylor and Keli Young are desperate to play live.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Unfortunately Kevin is unable to take part due to his exclusive record deal with Universal and Tony’s busy with his production company.
“But the girls are excited to get back on the road and are booking gigs in the UK and internationally.”
The group – who were formed of finalists from ITV talent show ‘Popstars’, who failed to make it into Hear’Say in 2001 – minus Kevin, 36, and Tony, 37, will hit the road to perform their greatest hits on a tour of Australia next month alongside fellow 90s pop groups B* Witched, S Club 3, Atomic Kitten and East 17.
The ‘Got To Have Your Love’ stars’ last gig was at Birmingham Pride festival on May 28 2016, three years after they last reunited on TV show ‘The Big Reunion’.
And, although Kevin is not involved, Michelle previously said they could be working on some new Liberty X music together.
At the time, the 37-year-old beauty said: “We have gigs in the pipeline and we’re actually doing Birmingham Gay Pride in a few weeks time. Kevin will be performing with us still.
“We haven’t released music in a while. I can see us doing a lot more with Kevin now.”
The group’s Birmingham gig was their first performance as a five-piece since summer 2014.

Stevie Nicks reluctant to write songs

OHMYGOSSIP — Stevie Nicks is reluctant to write new music because people will find ways to “not pay for it”.
The 68-year-old Fleetwood Mac vocalist is taking a stand against streaming services as she says she doesn’t “write as many songs any more” because she believes people “people aren’t willing to pay for artists’ work”.
She said: “I don’t write as many songs anymore because with the Internet, the way that kids listen to music, all the streaming, and the fact that if they’re very savvy, if they want to get it and not pay for it, they can.”
The ‘Landslide’ hitmaker – who released her latest solo material in 2011 with the album ‘In Your Dreams’, and last released an album with Fleetwood Mac in 2003 – says she no longer has the “impetus” to write songs, as she is convinced she won’t sell many records.
She added: “It goes against the grain of our whole belief in, ‘You write a song, you record it, and you put it out there and people should buy it’.
“We realise it’s not our world anymore and the younger kids don’t look at it like they’re taking from us… we don’t have the impetus to write 20 songs because we know that unless you’re under 20 you’re not going to sell many records.”
And the ‘Edge of Seventeen’ singer also commented on the possibility of a new Fleetwood Mac album, stating the band – completed by Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, and Lindsey Buckingham – would rather spend their time touring.
She told the Evening Standard newspaper: “Would you rather spend a year in the studio or get back on the road? I think that the band would choose to tour.”

Alicia Keys says self-empowerment is confidence boosting

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Keys has felt “more confident” since she stopped listening to outside influences and started listening to herself.
The 35-year-old star has barely worn make-up over the last 12 months and has revealed she resents having been expected to meet “ridiculously high” expectations in terms of her appearance.
Alicia explained: “Whatever mode of expression that empowers you, that’s what you should do. What I am not down for is this ridiculously high, unrealistic expectation about appearance that we as women are held to.”
Ironically, Alicia thinks there is a beauty attached to people who are less image-conscious than the norm.
The ‘Girl on Fire’ hitmaker told Allure magazine: “I think there’s something really beautiful about what resonates from within us. One thing I’ve heard more than ever is this glow that people refer to that I have. I kind of recognise that glow because I’ve begun to listen to myself inside.
“And I think there’s something really powerful that happens when you start to listen to yourself. It makes you feel more aware. In touch. More confident.
“I’m not more confident because I think I’m better than, but because I’ve been hearing myself more, listening to myself more. And that’s taken a little minute to arrive at that place.
“But there’s definitely something powerful about the way your inner feels that reflects on the outer, on your skin. That, to me, is real beauty.”
However, Alicia admitted it took her more than a decade to come to the realisation that she was happier without make-up.
She shared: “I started at 20 years old in this ridiculously invasive world in which everyone covered me in make-up and then threw me under tons of lights, so I’d sweat for two or three hours.
“It took me so long to finally say, ‘Whoa! Who am I under there?’ That is just my own personal quest.”

The Killers' new album is 'heavier'

OHMYGOSSIP — The Killers’ new album is “heavier” than their previous work.
The ‘Somebody Told Me’ rockers have given a much-needed update on the progress of their follow-up to 2012’s ‘Battle Born’, although they’ve assured die-hard fans that the lyrical content is similar to their usual subject matter.
In an interview with Q magazine, frontman Brandon Flowers said: “There are moments that feel heavier than anything we’ve ever done, not that we’re the heaviest band in the world, but they have a finesse because of our experience.
“There’s also really beautiful things. Lyrically, it’s really close to home.”
The 35-year-old frontman has also shared some details of certain tracks, which he expects to be included in the final tracklisting, including one called ‘Rut’, ‘Run For Cover’ – which came from a session they did with producer Stuart Prince in 2004 for their third studio album, ‘Day & Age’ – and one about boxing legends Mike Tyson and Buster Douglas’ famous fight in 1990, which is named ‘Tyson Vs Douglas’.
He explained: “There’s one called ‘Rut’ and were all kind of excited about what was happening with that.
“Another is called ‘Run For Cover’ and that comes from ‘Day & Age’.
“So it’s eight-years-old. It started with Stuart Price and it’s still sort of has his stamp on it – but we’re funnelling it back through the band eight years later with a different producer.”
Brandon – who is a perfectionist – felt he needed to have another stab at the lyrics for it.
He added: “I never got the lyrics right and I think I’m gonna get it right this time. ‘Run For Cover’ looks like it’s got a gold shot of being on the album.”
Talking about the fight-themed track, he added: “There’s one called Tyson Vs Douglas’.
“I don’t know why but I think about it all the time and I finally tried to tackle it in a song, what it meant to have this hero of mine get torn down, and then everything that happened after that.”
The last musical release from The Killers – also comprised of Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. – was their Christmas album ‘Don’t Waste Your Wishes’.
The ‘Brightside’ group also marked the 10th anniversary of their LP ‘Sam’s Town’ with a vinyl reissue and a two-day Las Vegas “extravaganza”.

Glastonbury to change name in 2019

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Eavis has revealed Glastonbury Festival will get a new name in 2019.
The annual music extravaganza’s organiser, 80-year-old Michael Eavis, has revealed there are plans to call it “The Glastonbury Festival team presents The Variety Bazaar” as it is likely to be moving to land “half way to the Midlands” from the current site at Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England.
Speaking on Glastonbury FM radio station, he said: “That’s a good name don’t you think?”
On the new location, he added: “It’s half way to the Midlands from here … and there’s only one landowner.
“I’ve got 22 landowners where I am now.
“I just wonder whether the next generation will want to negotiate with so many people.
“It’s a very difficult job to hold it together.”
Eavis – who runs the festival with his daughter Emily Eavis – says it may be a “huge risk” extending the title of the legendary event, but he admits he’s always lived on the edge when it comes to planning Glastonbury.
He added: “I’ve been a risk taker all my life.
“In 47 years of taking risks, so far touch wood, I haven’t come unstuck. This might be one risk too far, I don’t know.”
Eavis is currently working out the logistics to move the event to a new site towards the Midlands every five years so that his farmland can recover.
However, he doesn’t want it to be a permanent move as he feels it would be a “huge loss” to Somerset.
He told previously: “I’m arranging to move the show [but] it would be a huge loss to Somerset if it went there forever.
“We’ve got a wonderful product, what we do, and we can do it almost anywhere.
“I love my own farm … I might have to move it eventually.
“Most people are on side now and it’s a wonderful, wonderful boost for the whole of Somerset and beyond as well. I don’t want to lose it forever, no way.”
Glastonbury will go ahead as usual at Worthy Farm this June.
So far, the only confirmed headliners are Radiohead, who will play on Friday, June 23, with Kris Kristofferson who is playing the Pyramid Stage on the same night.
Ed Sheeran and the Foo Fighters are tipped to be the final headlining acts, but it’s yet to be confirmed by Eavis.

Lana Del Rey registers new song Young and In Love

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey has registered a second new song called ‘Young & In Love’.
The ‘Born to Die’ hitmaker has got fans speculating that she is about to drop a new album in 2017, after the track surfaced online with the credits including her long-time collaborator Emile Hayne, Rick Nowels – who worked on her huge hit ‘Summertime Sadness’ – and superstar producer Benny Blanco.
It follows ‘Wild Side’, which was reportedly registered under the singer’s real name, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, in November last year.
According to NME, the track was co-written by Greg Banks.
The 31-year-old singer teased fans that she was working on a follow-up to 2015’s ‘Honeymoon’ in March 2015, when she posted a photo of herself working in a studio on social media.
Lana previously revealed she has gradually been putting ideas together for her fifth album for some time and she gave an update in December 2015.
At the time, she said: “I do have early thoughts about what I’d like to do with [the album].
“My label, Interscope, is pretty flexible and open to my records coming out at any time, so I don’t have that pressure. I’m just happy to be able to keep on making music I can stand behind. That’s enough for me.”
In 2015, Lana got to tour with Grunge rocker Courtney Love for her concert series, ‘The Endless Summer Tour’, and she was inspired by her “entrancing” performance.
She said: “Touring with Courtney was great, we have some things in common that might not be visible from the outside.
“I think the most important thing I learned was that some people just have it when it comes to performing. She’s totally entrancing, a born performer.”
Lana’s last record was 2015’s ‘Honeymoon’.

Jessica Biel up for writing music with husband Justin Timberlake

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Biel would love to make music with her husband Justin Timberlake.
The 34-year-old actress – who wed the singer in 2012 – has already collaborated with her pop superstar husband, 35, on the score for the musical drama ‘The Book of Love’, and because of how well they got on working together she wouldn’t rule out the chance to write music with her husband.
Asked if they’ll work together again, she told InStyle magazine: “Nothing specific, but I think we had such a good time working together, and It was in just the right kind of capacity where we weren’t on top of each other, in terms of both of us trying to compete with a particular lane.
“I think we would really work very well together, and it was an enjoyable experience.
“It’s nice to be able to spend a lot of time with your partner in a different way, not just hanging out at home, and not just doing whatever … working together was really inspiring.”
And it wouldn’t be completely unfamiliar ground for Jessica – who shares 21-month-old son Silas with Justin – to record vocals as she has a background in musical theatre and is a trained vocalist.
She said: “I’ve sort of been trained as more of a stage singer, like musical theatre.”
Jessica feels she would be in safe hands with the ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ hitmaker as she believes he makes “the best music around”.
Asked how likely it is that they will team up for a songwriting session, she admitted: “You never know … that would be super fun.
“He obviously writes, in my opinion, some of the best music around, so I would not be going wrong if he was writing something for me to sing, or whatever.”

Una Healy inspired by Ed Sheeran's songwriting

OHMYGOSSIP — Una Healy is inspired by amazing songwriter Ed Sheeran.
The 35-year-old Irish singer is extremely “proud” of the 25-year-old flame-haired hunk for going back to his roots with his forthcoming album ‘÷’ by collaborating with a traditional Irish folk band, and she says everyone back home in Ireland are rooting for the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker.
She said “I really admire him, he’s a very inspirational songwriter to me and he has written some great Irish/folk ballads for the record, too.
“Obviously he is so popular all over the world but he is very popular in Ireland, everyone here really admires him.”
The Saturdays singer worked with the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker’s songwriter, Amy Wadge, on her single ‘Stay My Love’ and says it would be great to team up with Ed on a song.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “He wrote a lot with Amy [Wadge] , who wrote my single too.
“It would be great to work with him, it would be a dream.”
Ed has teamed up with Belfast-based band Beoga for a song on his new record, which features the fiddle, and is to put out a calling cast for the music video soon, which will be shot in the Irish county of Galway and will feature Irish ceili folk dancers.
He previously shared: “I’ve actually got a song on the new album which I think is really gonna explode in Ireland.
“It would be something to do with the county of Galway.
“I’ve got a trad band called Beoga, they’re actually from Belfast.
“It’s a fiddle, a pipe, a bodhran and piano and we really jam.
“It’s gonna be really good but I think I will never be able to play another song in Ireland again because that one will just be the song.
“I should be over in Ireland soon so I’ll probably put something out then.
“I’m definitely shooting a video for one of the songs in Ireland and I will be doing a casting because I need proper ceili dancers.”
Ed has also penned a bonus song for the record – the follow-up to 2014’s ‘X’ – about his grandmother Anne, who is from Wexford near the Irish National Heritage Park.
He added: “There are two full-on Irish jams on there both with full trad.”

Soulja Boy drops Chris Brown diss track

OHMYGOSSIP — Soulja Boy has released a diss track aimed at Chris Brown.
The 26-year-old rapper has dropped the track, named ‘Hit ‘Em With The Draco’, ahead of his proposed boxing match with the ‘Loyal’ hitmaker which was scheduled after the pair engaged in a public feud on Twitter earlier this month.
In the track, Soulja Boy – who is reportedly receiving training for the fight from former world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather – promises to “knock Chris Brown out when I see him”.
The ‘Crank That’ hitmaker also takes the time to hit out at fellow rapper 50 Cent in the song, as the 41-year-old star has backed Chris – who is being trained by Mike Tyson – to win the fight.
The lyrics to the song read: “Ayy 50 Cent what you talking about? / You made all that money off Vitamin Water and then filed for bankruptcy / You know I’ma knock Chris Brown out when I see him.”
Chris and Soulja Boy are expected to come to blows sometime in March, and are reportedly planning on screening the battle on Pay-Per-View television.
The feud kicked off in early January after Chris vowed to fight the ‘Kiss Me Thru The Phone’ rapper – real name DeAndre Cortez Way – for liking a picture of his ex-lover Karrueche Tran.
Soulja Boy then raged on Twitter: “Chris brown just called me and said he wanna fight me because I liked @karrueche picture on Instagram this n**** a b***h
“Aye @chrisbrown pull up n***a I’ll knock yo B***h A** out stop snorting so much coke n****. FRUITS
“F**k @chrisbrown
“That n**** @chrisbrown better not tweet s**t with his p***y a**. He called my phone trippin so now I’m trippin F**k n****. Fruits! (sic)”
Soulja Boy also roamed the streets looking for Chris and attempted to entice him into a brawl before they announced their planned boxing match.

Rick Wakeman played the keyboard on David Bowie's Oh! You Pretty Things

OHMYGOSSIP — Rick Wakeman has revealed he played the keyboard on David Bowie’s 1971 song ‘Oh! You Pretty Things’.
The 67-year-old musician was previously credited with performing on the tracks ‘Changes’ and ‘Life On Mars?’ on the ‘Hunky Dory’ album, but has now also claimed to have made an appearance on another track off the record.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “That is me [playing]. David wanted it to be very simple but if I remember rightly he kept cocking up the little riff. He did a few bits of it and I did the rest. He did the beginning.”
Rick is poised to be inducted in this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he will be joined by former Yes band members Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Tony Kaye and Trevor Rabin, as well as current members Alan White and Steve Howe.
Steve said: “What an honour this is for us and all involved with the history of this band.
“We thank all the Yes fans who have been so passionate over the decades, and helped us to keep the flag flying. It is the fans who have constantly demanded our inclusion. They have been heard.”
Earlier this month, meanwhile, Bowie’s 1971 LP ‘Hunky Dory’ was named his best record by BBC 6 Music’s listeners.
Fans of the ‘Let’s Dance’ hitmaker – who died in January 2016, aged 69 – picked the winning album from 10 of the music legend’s biggest records, including his most recent, ‘Blackstar’, and 1977’s ‘Heroes’.
The album was played on vinyl by presenter Gideon Coe and he said prior to playing it: “It’s a lovely record and the whole vote has been a reminder of just how many great albums Bowie made.”

George Michael turned down Biffy Clyro collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — George Michael refused to collaborate with Biffy Clyro.
The late ‘Careless Whisper’ hitmaker – who was found dead at his home in Oxfordshire, England on Christmas Day (25.12.16) – turned down the chance to appear on a song with the Scottish rock band for their 2007 LP ‘Puzzle’.
Frontman, Simon Neil told NME magazine: “Believe it or not, we tried to get George Michael on ‘Puzzle’ when we were recording it.
“We love his voice, and at the time he was making really slow R&B.
“He obviously got back and said, ‘I’m not at all interested!'”
And the Wham! singer is not the only musical legend that the ‘Wolves of Winter’ hitmakers look up to.
Simon, 37, previously said he “owes a bit of gratitude” to David Bowie.
The ‘Space Oddity’ hitmaker passed away in January 2016 at the age of 69 after suffering from liver cancer, and the ferocious frontman opened up about the legacy of the late star, saying he’s “a part of the tapestry” of music.
He said: “I think just anyone who’s ever played music or ever listened to music owes a bit of gratitude to David Bowie.
“For us Bowie’s always been there. I think he’s such a part of the tapestry of the culture coming out of the UK and the music.”
Simon – who is joined in his band by twins Ben and James Johnston – was asked which tracks from the music icon had inspired him the most, to which he chose ‘Low’ and ‘Sound and Vision’.
Speaking about his choice, he said: “Even though there’s not a lot of vocals on that one, it’s one of my favourite songs, I love how he put a three or four-minute intro to songs.
“For me there’s so many amazing songs, so many beautiful songs, so many songs that bring out different feelings.”

Although, the festival held at Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England, is yet to confirm the ‘Me And Bobby McGee’ hitmaker’s slot, he would join previously confirmed headliners Radiohead.
‘Castle on the Hill’ singer Ed Sheeran and the Foo Fighters are expected to be the final two headliners.
The 25-year-old singer’s signing delighted the event’s organisers, Michael and Emily Eavis.
A source said “Michael is delighted to get Ed signed up.
“It’s going to be a huge moment for the festival having him up there marking his comeback in front of a giant crowd.
“Ed’s always said headlining Glastonbury has been a big ambition of his.
“Topping his three sold-out Wembley Stadium shows last year will be tough, but this is as big as it gets.”
The ‘Walk’ rockers were forced to pull out of the 2015 festival after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg.
