Foo Fighters chose Idles as their support act after rock band made them a puzzle

OHMYGOSSIP — Foo Fighters chose Idles as their support act after Joe Talbot and co made a puzzle with “Pick Idles” on it.
Frontman Joe has revealed the unique way they successfully won over Dave Grohl’s band and got to open for them at London’s The O2 arena in 2017.
Appearing on SPIN’s ‘Lipp Service’ podcast, he said: “They had a shortlist of five to ten bands, I think.
“And apparently… they pick the bands themselves; they had the shortlist. We found out, and we thought to get ahead of the bunch, we’d make a puzzle – like a jigsaw puzzle – with a photo of our bassist on it. In his pants. It just said: ‘Pick Idles’.
“I just built the box and wrote, ‘If you build it they will come’ on it. And they did.”
Idles have just scored their second UK number one album with ‘Tangk’.
Meanwhile, the singer just followed in Grohl’s footsteps by reading a story on CBeebies’ ‘Bedtime Stories’.
The 33-year-old rocker was thrilled to have landed the gig as he loves reading to his own child.
He said in a statement: “It’s an honour to announce that I am reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story.
“I can NOT express how much I love reading to my kid so this was a welcome twist in an already beautiful career. All love.”
The ‘POP POP POP’ songwriter read the tome ‘Under the Love Umbrella’ by Davina Bell.
Joe recently admitted that becoming a dad made him more “delicate” and that is apparent on their latest LP.
In a recent interview with NME, he explained: “‘Delicate’ is the word. Since becoming a father, I’ve addressed that in my art. I was a very impatient man; even after sobriety. I was nasty back in the day when I wanted to be, and I hurt a lot of people. I wanted to stop, and that takes time and forgiveness. I found patience, but in the most beautiful way…”
He added: “I’ve learned from being a dad that to go through things with grace, be delicate and to celebrate the small beautiful things that you can overlook so easily if you’re impatient with the world, you miss out on a lot of tiny details that will make your day. It’s got to come out in my art, because that’s how I am.”

Eels announce release of 15th studio album!

OHMYGOSSIP — Eels are releasing their 15th studio album.
Titled EELS TIME!, the band announced on Thursday (29.02.24) the record is due for release on 7 June via E Works/Play It Again Sam.
Along with the announcement, the group shared its acoustic-led opening track ‘Time’ – the result of their first in-person recording session since the beginning of the Covid pandemic.
A press release announcing the new release said: “The album news follows a busy 2023 for Eels, where they finally hit the road for their long-awaited ‘Lockdown Hurricane’ tour of Europe and North America and brought the year to a close by releasing their second best of compilation album ‘Eeels So Good: Essential Eels, Vol.2’ and a brand new track, ‘Christmas, Why You Gotta Do Me Like This’.”
Recorded between Los Feliz, California and Dublin, Ireland, EELS TIME! consists of 12 new tracks with collaborators such as Koool G Murder, The Chet, Tyson Ritter, Sean Coleman and more.
Eels – an ever-changing project of its 60-year-old lead singer and songwriter E, real name Mark Oliver Everett – have had one of the most consistently acclaimed careers in music, and have released 14 studio albums since their 1996 debut ‘Beautiful Freak’.
In 2008 E published his highly acclaimed book ‘Things the Grandchildren Should Know’ and starred in the award-winning ‘Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives’ documentary about the search to understand his quantum physicist dad Hugh Everett III.
E recently said he found Christmas a bit of a “bummer” in a chat to mark the release of the band’s third festive song, ‘Christmas, Why You Gotta Do Me Like This’.
He told The Sun about his feelings on the festive season: “I’m all for the jolly Christmas and I’ve had some very jolly Christmases myself.
“As a kid growing up in America, I was pretty satisfied just to sit in the dark watching the tree lights blink. I didn’t have my Nintendo Switch!
“But I do think it’s important to remember that BEFORE Ebenezer Scrooge becomes the nice guy who buys everybody Christmas dinner, Tiny Tim’s pretty miserable.
“So I thought, ‘Let’s do some music for him.’”
E added about the melancholy feel of his band’s new track: “It is pretty relentless, but at least the sleigh bells automatically evoke snow falling.
“As an adult, I’ve had Christmases, probably like everybody, which are just very bad timing.
“I wanted to do a song for that guy or girl who has just bought an expensive present for their partner and then got broken up with.”
The song features the lines: “I put up my lights and I hung the mistletoe/So why did you have to leave me all alone?”

‘It’s a huge privilege’ Kate Bush announced as Record Store Day ambassador

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Bush says it’s a “great privilege” to have become a Record Store Day ambassador.
The ‘Running Up That Hill’ hitmaker has followed in the footsteps of the likes of Taylor Swift, Sir Elton John, Noel Gallagher and The 1975 in the role of shining a light on the annual celebration of independent record stores, which takes place on Saturday, April 20.
She began a lengthy statement: “What a huge honour to have been asked to be Ambassador for this year’s Record Store Day. It really is a great privilege.
Isn’t it great to see how the resurgence in vinyl has taken the music industry by complete surprise? It had decided to leave vinyl far behind, but it would seem that not everyone agrees! I love that!
I know there are many, many artists who are just as excited to see the audience turning the tide.
“In the same way that some people like to read a book on Kindle but also want to have a book as a physical object, a lot of people like vinyl and streaming. Both have different appeals.
“The added bonus of vinyl is that it encourages people to listen to albums. An art form that I’ve always thought can be treasured in a unique way.
An album on vinyl is a beautiful thing, given a strong identity by its large-scale artwork. There’s a much more personal connection with the artist and their work.”
The 65-year-old singer-songwriter is also releasing a special 10” Record Store Day edition of ‘Eat the Music’ exclusively in independent record shops on Record Store Day.
The single was set to appear on her 1993 album ‘Red Shoes’, but ‘Rubberband Girl’ took its place.
Fans will be able to get their hands on a unique UV printed 10” with her preferred track-listing of: ‘Eat the Music’, ‘Lily’ and ‘Big Stripey Lie’.
Kate said: “It’s been fun putting designs together for some of the previous RSDs. This year’s design echoes the cancelled release of Eat the Music as the first single from the album, The Red Shoes.
The image was intended to be on the cover of the single bag and is now on the disc as a UV print.
The title, Eat the Music, is meant to be a playful nod to ‘If music be the food of love, play on,’ from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.”
She concluded: “Each year Record Store Day gathers more attention, more momentum, and attracts more people who cram into indie record stores all over the world to see what’s up. What’s new?
This year, I hope you have a fantastic time at this very important event, and that you get to celebrate music that’s been specially released for you.
“Very best wishes, Kate.”
A full list of participating shops and this year’s release list can be found on www.recordstoreday.co.uk.

Spalife: Blur rocker Alex James gets a mani and pedi before awards ceremonies

OHMYGOSSIP — Blur rocker Alex James likes to get a manicure, pedicure and facial before attending glitzy events.
The cheese-making musician – who is best known as the bassist of the Britpop group – swapped out his partying lifestyle to reside on a farm in the Cotswolds in South West England with his large family.
And ahead of the BRIT Awards in London on Saturday (02.02.24), the 55-year-old star has revealed that rather than being plied with booze and looking blurry-eyed, like previous years, he will be looking fresh-faced and refreshed.
Alex is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “I love a mani, I love a pedi. A 90-minute facial and I’m all in.
“Especially if you’re travelling a lot, it’s the first thing I do when I’m in a hotel – get straight in the sauna. It rinses all the filth.”
Blur are nominated for the Alternative/Rock award after returning with their first album since 2015, ‘The Ballad of Darren’, last year.
The ‘Parklife hitmaker – who met his wife, Claire Neates, the mother of his five children, after ditching alcohol in 2002 – revealed last year he had been having cold water therapy, cryotherapy, to fit back into his Britpop trousers.
Alongside a video of him in the freezing chamber, he wrote on X/Twitter: “Back in the upside down sauna for round 2. Almost back into my #britpop trousers #cryotherapy.”
Meanwhile, Alex previously admitted the adjustment between his two very different lifestyles can be tricky.
The festival owner – who runs The Big Feastival on his farm – told Red magazine: “The last time I went away, I dropped the kids at school and flew to Mexico City, where there were thousands of people waiting for us at the airport and hotel.
“When we got to the venue – a stadium – it was huge.
“But afterwards, you get home and you have to wash up and the kids are like, ‘Dad, stop being a [redacted].’”

Ariana Grande admits a proper tour this year is unlikely

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande is undecided if she will tour this year – but has the “itch” to do something.
The Grammy winner has a busy couple of years ahead with her new album, ‘Eternal Sunshine’, out on March 8, and filming the two-part ‘Wicked’ movie adaptation.
And whilst she would love to embark on a tour, she doesn’t want to get her fans hopes up in case she can’t pull it off.
Asked about doing a tour this year on ‘The Zach Sang Show’, she responded “TBD (to be decided).”
She continued: “I think I would love to do shows. I love being onstage, I miss being onstage, I miss my fans so much – that’s the honest-to-god truth. I had a really hard time emotionally on my last tour, but I think that’s because of where I was at. Just like with music, I think I’m really excited to redefine my relationship to shows, when I’m ready.
“I do have a very busy year with [‘Eternal Sunshine’] and with Wicked, and then next year I also have Wicked Part Two.”
The 30-year-old pop superstar, whose last jaunt was in 2021, hinted she could do short run of dates.
She added: “[The tour] would obviously be shorter. If anything, it would be a littler something. But I definitely do have the itch. I’m not ready to announce any sort of thing or get people too excited because I don’t want to disappoint.”
The ‘Thank U, Next’ hitmaker hadn’t planned to release her follow-up to 2020’s ‘Positions’ – which features revamped versions of songs that were leaked online by TikTokers and the lead single ‘Yes, And?’ – until after both her ‘Wicked’ films were out.
She explained: “I did not plan to [make new music now]. I didn’t have the goal to make an album.
“I actually was really opposed to coming out with music until after Wicked, either both parts or just one part. I wasn’t sure how I would feel.”
‘Wicked’ – in which Ariana stars as Glinda – is released in November, and ‘Wicked Part Two’ is scheduled for release next year.

DJ Khaled gets security guards to CARRY HIM to stage to avoid getting sneakers dirty

OHMYGOSSIP — DJ Khaled had his security guards lift him off the ground so he wouldn’t get his box-fresh Jordans sneakers covered in sand.
The ‘Wild Thoughts’ hitmaker shared a clip of the two men carrying the towering record producer to a buggy to be taken to the stage at South Beach Wine and Food Festival in Miami.
He said: “I don’t want to get my Jordans dirty. Can I get everybody to help me?
“Thank you, brothers. I appreciate it.”
Once on the back of the truck, he insisted: “Can’t mess up the Js.”
He was lifted by the pair once again before walking up the stairs and onto the stage.
In the caption of the Instagram clip, Khaled again teased his two new collaborations with Drake on his next album.
He wrote: “When I say 2 (peace sign emoji) you say 2 (peace sign emoji) DRAKES.
“new album in the works. (sic)”
The high-in-demand rapper has worked with his regular collaborator on the pair of tracks for his upcoming 14th studio album – the follow-up to 2022’s ‘God Did’ – which is due out this year.
During a recent Instagram Live, Khaled teased: “Ayo Drake fan hub, you know I got two Drakes in the can. Mixed. Mastered. You know I got two Drakes, two Champagne Papi’s on my album. You know that right? The album’s Til Next Time.”

Mick Mars open to writing new music for Motley Crue

OHMYGOSSIP — Mick Mars would be willing to write new music for Mötley Crüe – despite his ousting and legal wrangle with his former bandmates.
The 72-year-old axe-slayer was shocked when Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil issued a statement announcing he had resigned from the ‘Girls Girls Girls’ group when in fact Mars had retired from touring.
He’s unable to talk too much about his exit, after he filed a lawsuit at Los Angeles County’s Superior Court in April 2023, in which he claimed his bandmates had been “gas-lighting” him and belittling his musicianship.
In his original filing, he accused the glam metal band of trying to force him out after he had to step back from touring due to longstanding health issues that have worsened.
Mars – who has just released his debut solo album, ‘The Other Side of Mars’ – claimed he would have remained a member of the band regardless of his retirement from touring due.
And speaking in a new interview, he admitted he would pen new tunes for the group if they wanted him to.
Asked about why it took him four decades to go solo, he told ‘Audacy Check In’: “Well, it took me 40 years ’cause Mötley was priority… and now that I’m retired, I’m just me.
“I mean, if Mötley wanted me to write songs with them again, of course I would… But right now, I’m just me, so I’m writing, and it’s not Mötley, and it’s how I feel — my ideas and my kind of thing and kind of trying to reinvent myself or bring myself up to date.”
In a recent interview with Guitar World, he said of his retirement: “I couldn’t do it anymore – the travelling part. I mean, I’m 72 and I have this c***. It gets a little bit strenuous for me to travel around the world and keep doing that for months at a time with a two-week break. It’s just gotten to be too much for me. So yeah, that’s about it.”
On them using “resigned” instead of “retired”, he said: “Two different words, two different meanings. It was just retiring from the touring part. I’d actively be involved in every entity of Mötley Crüe. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them. I don’t regret anything we’ve ever done – good, bad or ugly, whatever. My body just couldn’t do it anymore.”
Mars insists he was good friends with his bandmates, despite the drug and booze-fuelled antics they got up to, including allegedly setting fire to his doors.
Asked if they were more than colleagues, he said: “Yeah, at one point. It’s like, I don’t hate anybody. In the band there’s a lot of stuff that I wasn’t particularly fond of that would happen through the years. Wiping your [butt] on my doorknob wasn’t exactly fun. That kind of stuff – lighting my doors on fire. And like I said, when I look back at it now, it’s kind of comical.
But this happened, and it wasn’t funny at the time.”
Mars has been replaced by John 5.

Eternal unveil new singer ahead of first show in 10 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Eternal have recruited a new band member for their first shows in a decade.
The 90s girl group originally comprised Vernie and Easther Bennett, Kelle Bryan and Louise Redknapp, but the latter two will not be a part of their lineup at their comeback shows, with Christel Lakhdar unveiled as their replacement.
Christel told The Mirror: “I’ve been singing these songs since (I was) a young age and feel like pinching myself as I’m taking it all in.”
Vernie said: “Meeting Christel for the first time just felt right.
“She’s talented, accomplished and has such an amazing personality. She’s also strong vocally, so our harmonies will be taken to the next level. I think our music followers will love her just as much as we do.”
Easther added: “This new era is all about enjoying the moment.”
Their first show is set for May 3 at Birmingham’s NEC arena.
The girl group had a string of hits with ‘I Wanna Be The Only One’ with BeBe Winans in 1997, as well as ‘Stay’ and ‘Just A Step From Heaven’.
Louise quit in 1995 to pursue a solo album and had been open to a reunion in recent years.
They continued as a trio until, Kelle quit in 1998, and the siblings carried on as a duo until 2000.
In 2014, they reunited, sans Louise, for the ITV2 documentary ‘The Big Reunion’.

S Club get matching tattoos in tribute to Paul Cattermole

OHMYGOSSIP — S Club have got matching tattoos in tribute to Paul Cattermole.
The ‘Reach’ hitmakers – who have completed the United States run of their ‘Good Times Tour’ celebrating the pop group’s 25th anniversary – have paid a lasting tribute to their late bandmate, who died of heart failure aged 46 in April 2023.
Bradley McIntosh told Entertainment Tonight that the group “got a tattoo the other day on Venice beach” which read “Good Times” in memory of their friend.
The design includes “a little heart for Paul”.
Bradley has been joined on tour by Jon Lee, Tina Barrett, Jo O’Meara and Rachel Stevens, although Hannah Spearritt opted not to be part of the reunion.
The US tour came to an end with a show at The Orpheum in Los Angeles, a city which the band hold close to their hearts after shooting their TV shows there back in the day.
They changed the name of the anniversary tour following Cattermole’s death.
Rachel said: “I know it was never a question to not do it. I think it just turned into something different.
“Like, we renamed the tour ‘The Good Times Tour’ in tribute to him, ’cause that was [what] he was going to, acoustically, in the show.
“And it just became a real beautiful tribute and celebration for him, and for the fans too.”
Tina noted that the remaining band members have “kept in touch” with Cattermole’s family.
She added: “They came to one of the showsl They just really thought it was beautifully done, and respectful.”
The group think pushing on with the anniversary tour – which they had been planning for a while – was the right move.
Bradley said: “Paul was so so excited to do the tour and I think he would be really really angry with us if would have stopped it. I really do.”

Ja Rule barred from UK ahead of tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Ja Rule’s upcoming UK tour is in jeopardy after the rapper was denied entry to the country due to his past criminal record.
The 47-year-old rapper had been due to play a series of shows across Britain next month with stops in cities including London, Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool, but he’s now suggested the concerts will have to be called off just days before they start due to immigration issues.
In a post on X – formerly known as Twitter – Ja Rule wrote: “I’m so devastated I can’t believe the UK won’t let me in I’ve spent a half million dollars in production of my own money to put this tour together only to be denied entry DAYS before my shows this is not fair to me or my fans these venues are 85 per cent sold and now I can’t come … ”
In a subsequent post he added: “The UK is one of the few European countries that restricts entry to people with criminal records.
“In general, you will likely be denied entry if you have been convicted of a crime punishable by 23 months or more under British law or served more than 12 months in prison … ”
He posted screenshots of his messages on Instagram, and when fans asked if ticketholders would be given refunds, Ja Rule replied: “Yes refunds will be available … ”
The concerts are due to kick off in Cardiff on March 1, but the tour has yet to be officially cancelled despite Ja Rule’s announcement.
The rapper – real name Jeffrey Atkins – previously served two years in prison after pleading guilty to tax evasion and gun charges.
He was sentenced to 28 months for failing to pay $1.1 million in taxes between 2004 and 2008 as well as another two years for possessing a semi-automatic handgun, which was found in his car by police following a gig in New York in 2007.
He was released in May 2013 after serving two years behind bars.

Ariana Grande confirms leaked songs revamped for Eternal Sunshine

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande’s new album, ‘Eternal Sunshine’, will feature revamped versions of her leaked songs.
The pop superstar has confirmed that the tracks, including a demo of ‘Fantasize’, will appear in their new form on her eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2020’s ‘Positions’, as fans vibed with the leaked material so much.
Speaking on the ‘Zach Sang Show’, she first quipped about the leak: “Thank you so much. I’ll see you in jail. Literally.”
The ‘Thank U, Next’ hitmaker says the songs – which she worked on with her long-time super producer Max Martin at Jungle City Studios in New York City – sound “completely different” now.
She shared: “It was like a parody of this girl group vibe. But [the fans] love it… It’s so corny, but it’s okay. I took the note and I kind of gave them Ariana’s version of that on the album.
“They’re completely different now. So although you’ve heard them — because you stole them — they’re very different now.”
The 30-year-old singer and actress found writing the songs cathartic.
She explained: “When I was writing it was with no intention for the world to hear it.
“I wrote them when I was very emotional, some of them, and then some of them are more bops.”
Ariana wrote the songs during her break from filming a pair of ‘Wicked’ films in London due to the Hollywood writers’ strike last year.
She wasn’t going to pen new songs until after filming had wrapped because she needed to keep pop star Ariana and her character in the films, Glinda, separate.
She said: “I had to completely erase pop star Ari — the person they know so well — because it’s harder to believe someone as someone else because they’re so branded as one thing. I had to really go all the way to strip that down.”
‘Eternal Sunshine’ – which includes the hit lead single ‘Yes, And?’ – is released on March 8.

Calvin Harris admits Rihanna collaboration is ‘the dream’

OHMYGOSSIP — Calvin Harris would love to reunite with Rihanna as he revisits “a few older collaborators”.
The superstar DJ has teamed up with Rag’n’Bone Man for the second time on new single ‘Lovers In A Past Life’, and he has enjoyed reconnecting with familiar faces.
Asked whether he could team up with Rihanna again in the future, he told Capital Dance that it’s “the dream”.
The duo previously worked together on ‘We Found Love’ and ‘Where Have You Been’.
He insisted any potential collaborator has to have something truly special to wow him and find a spark in the same way the likes of RiRi, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and Florence Welch have done in the past.
He explained: “The thing with me is that the voice has got to be spectacular or else I don’t really want to be doing it, and the song has got to be amazing.
“I am not really one of those folk that just churns out tunes every few months, I want it to be special.
“And what I’ve found is that the people that I have worked with previously, they know me, they know what the vibe is, they know it’s not gonna be weird or awkward – I’m gonna make it sound good, I’m gonna make them sound good.”
Calvin also admitted sometimes he simply struggles to find a “really good voice” he’s desperate to team up with.
He added: “Also it’s just hard to find a really really good voice that I really really wanna work with.
“It’s a self imposed bar that I’ve created and I don’t wanna go under it because what’s the point? I’d rather not put a tune out.
“So I am revisiting a few older collaborators.”
Meanwhile, Calvin – who turned 40 in January – recently also revealed he plans to stop performing when he reaches his 50th birthday.
He added: “I always said that once I get past 50, I can’t see me DJing, man.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jungkook, Bad Bunny and Nile Rodgers and more feature on BTS star j-hope’s upcoming solo album, ‘Hope on the Street Vol.1’.
The 30-year-old K-pop star has recruited a starry list of contributors for his follow-up to his 2022 debut album, ‘Jack in the Box’, with his BTS bandmate Jungkook featuring on the track ‘i wonder’.
The King of Latin Trap, Bad Bunny, and funk legend Nile Rodgers, appear on ‘lock/unlock’.

The six-track collection will be accompanied by a six-part docuseries, which will “trail J-Hope’s dance journey” and see him meet street dancers in Osaka, Paris, New York, Seoul and Gwangju.
A press release from BigHit Music noted that dance is “the core of J-Hope’s artistic roots and identity.”
The first episode will arrive on Prime Video on March 27, with new episodes made available every Thursday and Friday, and the album follows on March 29.
Meanwhile, the South Korean boy band – also comprising RM, 29, Suga, 30, Jin, 31, V, 28, Jimin, also 28, and 26-year-old Jungkook – plan to reunite in 2025.
BTS revealed at their annual FESTA dinner, in 2022, that they would be focusing on solo projects and military service.
Noting a conversation he had with his bandmate Suga during a livestream on Weverse, RM said in 2023: “He told me that there were a great number of ARMY [their fans] across the globe wanting the seven of us to reunite and perform again.”
He continued: “But as I’m working on my solo project, I keep thinking this way: ‘This is like a vacation’.
“What I mean by that is that it’s a kind of vacation that we, BTS and ARMY, need to take to successfully come back as a whole. So, I believe all our solo activities are important trips for our next chapter, and they’re also trips which we must go on in order to safely come back home.”
RM insisted: “We’ll be joining together again. And that will be in 2025.”

Eurovision entrant Olly Alexander working on new solo album

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Alexander is working on a new album.
The 33-year-old Years and Years star – who is set to represent the United Kingdom at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest with his song ‘Dizzy’ – has confirmed he’s in the process of making a follow-up 2022’s ‘Night Call’.
He told the ‘Queer The Music’ podcast: “I’m making a new one which has been fun.
Usually it takes me like four years to make an album which is kind of long. But this time I feel like I’m doing it a bit quicker.
“I’m trying to create stuff that feels really free and not really having too much of an idea what I’m doing, really.
“I’m trying to fall back in love with the process of it.”
The ‘It’s A Sin’ star also revealed that his “sexier” style of music didn’t go down well with record label.
Speaking about 2018’s ‘Palo Santo’ LP, he said: “When we came back with the second album, I was like, ‘I want to be a bit sexier now,’ and things seemed to fall apart really when that happened, with the label.”
‘Night Call’ marked the first solo album by Olly after his Years and Years bandmates, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen, quit in 2021.
Olly had walkouts on his ‘Night Call’ tour and said he received backlash for not being “family friendly”.
He previously told Metro’s Guilty Pleasures column: “I am an ‘in your face’ kind of gay because I want to be. That’s always met with a little bit of pearl-clutching, which I love.
“I just did a show in Nottingham, and it was amazing — the audience was out of this world. But it was the only show so far where we had people complain. I know a few of them said it wasn’t ‘family-friendly enough’. There’s never been anything explicit or gratuitous about a Years and Years show, so yeah, I find the reaction to be quite interesting.”
Olly was previously forced to defend his BBC New Year’s Eve concert after it was slammed for being too sexy.
He said: “It’s because I’m gay, but it’s a bit obtuse to put it all down to that, because it’s about more than sexuality, it’s about how we relate to each other.”
Years and Years was originally formed as a five-piece in 2010 before becoming a three-piece.

Is a Freddie Mercury hologram show in the works?

OHMYGOSSIP — A Freddie Mercury hologram show could be on the horizon.
Mercury Songs Limited, which owns the late Queen frontman’s solo works, has filed to trademark his moniker for 3D and virtual reality.
According to the filing, which has been obtained by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, it covers “immersive 3D virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences” for “virtual environments”.
The ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ hitmaker died at the age of 45 in 1991 from bronchial pneumonia, a complication of AIDS.
However, it looks like he might be set to return to the stage as a digital avatar just like the successful ‘ABBA Voyage’ show in London.
Queen have already performed with an illusion of Freddie at their concerts.
Guitarist Sir Brian May, 76, wept after performing a duet of ‘Love Of My Life’ with an optical illusion of Freddie during Queen and Adam Lambert’s ‘Rhapsody Tour’ in 2022.
However, when it comes to Queen having their own hologram show like ABBA, Brian has previously admitted he would like it to happen when he and his bandmates have gone onto the next world.
Appearing on ‘The Graham Norton Radio Show’ podcast last year, he said: “We’ve talked about and looked at holograms of Freddie.
“We love to be live and dangerous, that’s it, that’s our emphasis.
“Now, when we’re all gone, yeah sure, make an ABBA thing about us, but while we’re here I want to play live.”
He went on: “We have a little bit of stuff with Freddie.
“I don’t know if you remember but I do Love of My Life generally and Freddie comes in and joins me at the end when we do our live shows.
“But it’s not a hologram, it’s just sort of old-school technology which we kind of like.”
That doesn’t stop a solo Freddie hologram show from materialising.
