Linkin Park cancel upcoming tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Linkin Park have cancelled their upcoming tour in the wake of Chester Bennington’s death.
The frontman of the ‘Numb’ hitmakers was tragically found dead at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estate in Los Angeles on Thursday (20.07.17) where he is believed to have committed suicide at the age of 41.
Chester – who had three children with wife Talinda Bentley and another three from previous relationships – was due to head out on his band’s ‘One More Light North American Tour’ next week, and a statement released by promoters Live Nation on Friday (21.07.17) has now confirmed the tour will not be going ahead.
The statement read: “We are incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of Chester Bennington. The Linkin Park ‘One More Light North American Tour’ has been cancelled and refunds are available at point of purchase. Our thoughts go out to all those affected.”
Meanwhile, his band mates – Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Mike Shinoda, Dave Farrell, and Joe Hahn – have yet to release an official statement, as co-vocalist and co-founder Mike says they are too “heartbroken” to write one at this time.
He tweeted shortly after the news of Chester’s death was announced: “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”
Since his passing, celebrity tributes to the ‘Crawling’ singer have flooded in.
Rihanna shared a picture of Chester on her Instagram account and praised his vocal talents.
Alongside a string of sad faces, she wrote: “Literally the most impressive talent I’ve ever seen live! Vocal beast! #RIPChester #LinkinPark (sic)”
Steve Aoki has been “destroyed” by the news.
He wrote: “My heart is shattered. I can’t f***ing believe this is real. Crying writing this now. Destroyed.”
Whilst Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz called for people to speak out more about mental health issues.
He tweeted: “Mental health is no joke. We have to destigmatize the conversation around it. (sic)”

The Vamps like being vulnerable with their music

OHMYGOSSIP — The Vamps are happy to be “vulnerable” with their music.
The pop band – which includes Brad Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans – find writing their own music “cathartic” and says it helps their fans connect to it better too.
Brad said: “I think the first two albums, we were kids essentially, we’re still kids now but I think you kind of come to a point where you feel like if you’re not putting out something that’s real and true to yourself then everything else feels contrived and I think with this album we’ve tried to be as personal and open as we can be purely for the fact that it helps you kind of, it’s a catharsis.
“Also the fans can connect with it so much better because it comes from a very real place and it is a vulnerable place to be in but for your own peace of mind it feels like you’ve expressed yourself in a truer way than you have done before.”
And James, 23, praised the group’s fans for being “so crucial” to their success and longevity.
He added to London’s Evening Standard newspaper: “It’s crazy that this album is where it is, simply from the full support of the fans.
“I genuinely feel that The Vamps fan base is really powerful, they’ve been there for six or seven years, through the ups and downs so it’s nice to take it back to the one on one because they’re so crucial to what’s happened and it’s nice to thank them for that.”
Meanwhile, the band previously confessed they feel like “aliens” when they are touring.
They explained: “We’re away from family and home comforts and getting into a routine that’s the same every day. Each country is different so we’re like aliens. We’re never in a country for more than 24 hours because we’re always moving – unless we’re in the UK but routine for me is quite hard. We’re quite good at giving each other space.”

Brian Wilson could have been a baseball player

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Wilson believes he would have been a baseball player if he hadn’t made it as a musician.
The Beach Boys legend is one of the most revered rock songwriters in history but if his life took a different path he thinks that he would have had the talent to make it as a professional sportsman.
When asked what job he would have done if he had not been a musician, Brian answered: “I would have been a baseball player, you know.”
An alternative career was not required for Brian as his music has spanned six decades and includes the Beach Boys album ‘Pet Sounds’, considered to be one of the greatest albums of all time.
Now he’s 75, Brian admits he writes less than he used to but after his strict daily routine does lead him to sit at his piano and find new inspiration.
The ‘Surfin’ U.S.A.’ hitmaker – who is married to Melinda Ledbetter – told The Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I start the day by watching the news. I can usually get myself calm with a good walk … Some days I find my way back up to the piano.”
Brian is to begin a tour of the UK later this month to mark the 50th anniversary of ‘Pet Sounds’ – which contains acclaimed songs such as ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’ and ‘God Only Knows’.
For the shows, Brian will play the album in full and will be joined by fellow Beach Boys bandmate Al Jardine and former member Blondie Chaplin.
Brian previously admitted the tour could be one of his last as he is aware he will have to retire sometime in the future due to his advancing years.
The songwriter – who released his last solo album ‘No Pier Pressure’ in 2014 – said: “I’ve carried a lot of weight on my shoulders – a heavy load. For me, music is about love. Love is the message I want to share. I hope people feel the love in my music, I want to keep going. That makes the hard work worth it.”

The Script’s Mark Sheehan’s son inspired 5th album

OHMYGOSSIP — The Script’s Mark Sheehan’s son inspired the name of their fifth studio album.
The Irish band – comprised of Mark, Danny O’Donoghue and Glen Power – are set to drop their new LP ‘Freedom Child’ on September 1 and, although a lot of the tracks address terrorism, it was the lead guitarist’s seven-year-old son who helped him come up with the title because he asked him about the recent barbaric acts shaking the globe.
Speaking to Newsweek International, Danny said: “It came from Mark’s side. His seven-year-old came up to him one day and asked, ‘Dad, what’s terrorism?’ That’s not an easy thing to answer, no matter how old you are.”
The trio have tried to incorporate politics into their new release as they believe musicians are in a position to raise awareness on a level that is understood by fans.
Danny explained: “Now more than ever, musicians need to stand up, they need to be the megaphones for people who have no voice. You have a microphone – what are you going to talk about? What you’re wearing? I don’t think it’s been reflected in pop culture at all. I think we’re too busy, as a whole entertainment [industry], we’re too busy trying to entertain people instead of going, ‘You know what, there’s something we need to talk about right now.’ ”
The ‘Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ hitmakers think artists are too “scared” to make music that focuses on controversial topics but are hopeful that Ariana Grande has helped break through that barrier with her One Love Manchester charity gig, which she hosted after 22 innocent people died when a suicide bomber targeted her concert in the city.
Danny said: “Years ago music was a counterculture to what was going on … people would write political songs, it was the voice for the man. Now, people are too worried or too scared/ Nobody wants to chip in on a conversation about terrorism because they might be thought of next… This is before Ariana Grande put it under a magnifying glass [with her One Love Benefit concert in June]. You’d find it very hard to find artists to make a big stand if that hadn’t happened. It’s only when it’s on your doorstep.”

Tyga learned a lot from Kanye West

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyga says Kanye West has taught him to “take a little bit more time” with music.
The ‘Rack City’ hitmaker moved over to join the ‘Only One’ rapper’s GOOD Music record label last year and credits the 40-year-old star for helping him approach his craft in a different way.
He said: “From ‘Ye, I see how much time he puts into records. He hears stuff in songs that the average person just doesn’t hear. I kind of switched up my recording process. Like I might record something, then, I’ll go back into it like a month later. I won’t finish it.
“Before I used to finish songs that night. I’d write ’em and be done with it. Now I finish a verse, finish a hook, come back to it, change something, get inspired and change a line. I take a little bit more time with the music now.”
And Tyga, 27, feels working with Kanye has only helped his image.
Asked why he moved over to Kanye’s label, he added to Billboard magazine: “I think it was more of a move kind of like where ‘Ye was like, ‘Yo. I can help. I just want to help whatever you’re doing.’ So for me, I just got out of a situation with an artist. So I didn’t really wanna be on another artist’s [label.] I wanna be able to have my own creative control. I definitely would like your input where you could, but I don’t wanna be in the same situation as I was in before. I was cool with doing my own thing really.
“I think what ‘Ye brought to the table was the ‘Feel Me’ verse. He gave me some input on a few records like the Pusha verse [on ‘Ski on the Slope’]. So now it’s definitely making people go like, ‘Damn. So he used to rock with [Lil] Wayne. Now he’s rocking with ‘Ye. This guy gotta be on some s**t.”

The Vamps feel like ‘aliens’ on tour

OHMYGOSSIP — The Vamps feel like “aliens” when they’re touring.
The ‘Can We Dance’ hitmakers – comprised of Brad Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans – never spend more than 24 hours in one country, unless they’re in their native the UK, and have admitted they really struggle to adapt.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Friday (21.07.17), they said: “We’re away from family and home comforts and getting into a routine that’s the same every day. Each country is different so we’re like aliens. We’re never in a country for more than 24 hours because we’re always moving – unless we’re in the UK but routine for me is quite hard. We’re quite good at giving each other space.”
And, although they spend every minute of every day together on the road, the foursome never have any rows because they know how to give each other space.
The explained: “We’re very lucky and we’re so lucky that we’re best friends. We actually get on and that’s great for longevity of The Vamps. It’s good to see a sold-out arena crowd. We were 17 when we sold out our first arena tour and we thought that was normal. I think as you grow older, you appreciate it more … We’re all very passionate about music and we got into music because we love it and so to connect with so many people on that level and a personal level … it’s a very humbling feeling.”
The boy band are well on track to claiming Number One in the Album Charts this week with their LP ‘Night & Day’, which they have released in two parts.
The said: “We’ve some had some bad luck in the past – Adele beat us to Number One, but this is we feel, we’ve worked so hard for this album. It’s nice to have a Number One third album as not many people get to their third album.”
Explaining why they decided to release the album in two parts, they added: “Before we’ve released each album, we’ve written a massive batch of songs so we’ve had like 40/50 songs and we did the same for this album but we want a lot of the songs that we love fall by the waste side so to say so we did it in two parts.”

He said some funny shit. He said, ‘Yeah man, I was next to Jay for years standing right next to him, why he didn’t give me no jewels he put on the album.

Louis Tomlinson says ‘keeping busy’ has helped tackle heartache

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson’s solo career has served as a welcome distraction from the heartache of his mother’s death.
The 25-year-old singer – who has just released his single ‘Back to You’ with Bebe Rexha – has admitted that his music has ensured he’s been “keeping busy” since the death of his mother Johannah, who died of leukaemia in December 2016.
The One Direction star said: “I have those times now where I get a song and I’m like, ‘I can’t wait to send it to my mum’.
“Like I still have those moments where I’m like, ‘She would really f*****g love this’.”
Louis revealed he’s made a conscious effort to be candid on his debut solo album.
And he revealed that one track on the record will pay tribute to his on/off lover Eleanor Calder.
He told The Sun newspaper: “There’s another song on the album called ‘Always You’ and it’s kind of about my story of travelling the world and just being a f*****g idiot and going, ‘Of course it was always you’.
“Here’s the thing, when you listen to my album, you won’t have to read between the lines.
“You’ll know what’s about Eleanor, you’ll know what’s about me, you’ll know what’s about the fans, you know it might hint a little bit about the relationship with my mum.
“I want to make everything as honest and obvious as possible.”
Despite this, Louis doesn’t want to fall into the trap of appearing ungrateful.
He shared: “Yes maybe mine is a little bit harder or harsher, but everyone has their own f*****g s**t to deal with.
“So I think it’s just one of those things where if you want to continue to hopefully succeed in life, you’ve got to try and work past it as practically as you can.”

Blink-182 hang out with School of Rock cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Blink-182 hung out with the young cast of the ‘School of Rock’ musical backstage at their concert at London’s The O2 on Wednesday night (19.07.17).
Four lucky members of the hugely successful Olivier Award-winning West End show, which is based on the movie starring Jack Black as fake schoolteacher and rock music enthusiast Dewey Finn, posed for pictures with the pop punk legends – Matt Skiba, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker – in their school uniforms.
The ‘Feeling This’ hitmakers were performing their first night at the arena and will perform their final show this evening (20.07.17).
Vocalist and bassist Mark, 45, has been spending time in the British capital ahead of the performance and shared a funny anecdote about how he has been complimenting people on their Blink t-shirts, but they had no idea who he was.
He wrote on Twitter: “Twice today I saw people wearing blink-182 t-shirts and said “hey cool shirt!” and got looked at like “yeah whatever you old space garbage! (sic)”
The band seem to be in good health after being forced to cancel their concert at Bournemouth’s International Centre in South West England on Monday (17.07.17).
They had to axe the show because one of them was struck down with a mystery illness.

Lana Del Rey takes flack for sad songs

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey thinks she is responsible for the amount of sad songs being played on the radio.
The ‘Born To Die’ hitmaker says that when she was starting out she struggled to get her depressing music heard, but nowadays it has become mainstream to pour your heart out.
She said: “There’s been a major sonic shift culturally. I think I had a lot to do with that. I do. I hear a lot of music that sounds like those early records. It would be weird to say that it didn’t. I remember seven years ago I was trying to get a record deal, and people were like, ‘Are you kidding? These tunes? There’s zero market for this’. There was just such a long time where people had to fit into that pop box. ”
Despite receiving a lot of criticism, the 32-year-old star says she’s never contemplated quitting music and it only made her more determined to carry on.
Lana – who releases new record ‘Lust for Life’ on Friday (21.07.17) – told Pitchfork: “I so double downed. [The early criticism] made me question myself – I didn’t know if it was always going to be that way. You can’t put out records if 90 percent of the reviews in places like the Times are going to be negative. That would be crazy. It would have made sense to step all the way back, but I was like, Let me put out three more records and see if I can just stand in the eye of the storm. Not shift too much. Let me just take some of the [production] off so you can hear things a little bit better; I thought people were maybe getting distracted. I did the same thing with Honeymoon. Everyone around here heard it and was like, ‘It’s a cool record, but you know it’s not going to be on the radio, right?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah. I told [record executive] Jimmy [Lovine] when I signed, ‘If you want to sign me, this is all it’s ever going to be.'” I was just so committed to making music because I believe in what I do. All I had to do was not quit.”

Corey Taylor at ’95 per cent’ health after surgery

OHMYGOSSIP — Corey Taylor says he’s at about “95 per cent” health after having emergency surgery last year.
The Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman has given an update after he was left almost paralysed when he discovered he had broken his neck without knowing last year.
The ‘Duality’ hitmaker says he has piled on the pounds because he’s not been able to do much physical activity since the operations.
Speaking to Wisconsin’s Razor 94.7 FM before going on stage, he said: “I’m doing okay – slowly but surely making progress. I’m about at 95 per cent. I had [the surgery] about a month or so after I quit smoking, so that’s my grade.
“It is what it is. When you have a surgery like that, you can’t do all the stuff that you usually do physically, so I gained a little bit of weight and stuff, so I’ve been trying to fight that off, and I’m kind of still trying to find that flexibility.
“But you’ll see tonight – it’s still a physical show. I’ve gotten it back for the most part, but I’m still working on it.”
The 43-year-old singer previously admitted he was a “f***ing idiot” for ignoring the symptoms he had been experiencing after attributing his reduced movement to getting older and when he finally had medical treatment, he was stunned to learn how bad his condition was.
He said: “I was losing strength on my right side. My balance was screwed. The last two or three years have been weird for me, physically. But you get to a certain point where you think it’s just because you’re getting older.
“My doctor sent me to a specialist, and he was like, ‘We need to do surgery right now.’ Me being me, I was like, ‘Is there any way we can reschedule this for after the tour?’ He’s like, ‘No.’
“He said my spinal cord injury was 20 times worse than what he’s seen with UFC fighters. He pulled up the MRI and goes, ‘You see that? That’s really, really bad – that shouldn’t even be growing like that.
“And I was like, ‘Oh, s**t. You could have been paralysed, dumbass!'”
The ‘Wait and Bleed’ hitmaker believes the problem may have begun as far back as 1999, when he fell off stage and landed on his head.

The brunette beauty’s boyfriend Jed Elliot said: “She’s good. Obviously she was a little disappointed to not be involved because she’s a huge Disney fan. That would have been a dream role for her. She’s still a huge Disney fan and she’ll still be first in line for the cinema when it comes out.”

Noel Gallagher: U2 tour is the most fun I’ve ever had

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher has claimed he’s having “the most fun” he’s “ever had” touring with U2.
The rock ‘n’ roll star travelled the world with his brother Liam – who he no longer speaks to – in Oasis and has seemingly taken a swipe at his sibling and insisted that supporting the Irish group on the 30th anniversary tour of their seminal album ‘The Joshua Tree’ has been his best experience on the road, because he’s joined by his “family and friends”.
He explained: “I’ve been touring in one form or another for over 25 years and this is the most fun I’ve ever had.
“We’re playing in all the great cities in Europe. My family are on the road with me [and] my friends. It’s been amazing. (U2) have been absolutely brilliant every night. They’re one of my favourite ever bands, ever.”
However, Noel – who is performing solo on the ‘Joshua Tree Tour’ but also fronts his new band The High Flying Birds – admitted that he’s also enjoying being the support act because it means he has to do a lot less work.
He told the FC Barcelona website: “I’m only on stage for an hour. I’m off stage by eight o’clock, half eight. Have summat to eat, something to drink, watch U2, have two days off.”
thinks “fame is wasted on c***s” nowadays.
Meanwhile, the 48-year-old rocker recently said fame is “wasted on c***s” nowadays and used One Direction’s Harry Styles, 21, as an example, insisting he lacks “spirit.”
He said: “I’ll tell you what’s wrong. Fame’s wasted on these c***s today.
“Harry Styles has got nothing to say for himself – nothing. ‘You alright, mate?’ “Uhhh.” That’s it. The gig will never die because you can’t download it. You can’t download spirit.”
