Metallica see ‘no end’ to their career

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica see “no end” to their careers.
The ‘Enter Sandman’ rockers – who formed in 1981 – have no plans to stop recording and performing but drummer Lars Ulrich admitted he hopes someone will tell the band if they no longer have “the physicality” to deliver a successful show.
Speaking to MOJO magazine, he said: “I see no end to it. The only question is, ‘Does there come a point where the physicality the music needs is still there?
“I hope that somebody around me will go, ‘Hey sunshine, maybe it’s not there anymore…’
“Of course, there’s a few people who think it has already happened. That’s fine. But when we play the Kansas Cities of the world and you see 19,000 people connecting to the music and us connecting to them, I can tell you it definitely hasn’t happened yet.”
The rockers – Lars, Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, and Robert Trujillo – acknowledge they are all very different people but they still feel like “brothers”.
Kirk said: “There are people who want to divide and conquer. We’re not gonna be part of that platform.”
Robert added: “As individuals within the band, we’re all different. But we get along. Different upbringings, but we are family, we’re brothers.”
While James dismissed suggestions his relationship with Lars has mellowed over the years, he admitted they realise there is “no use” trying to upset one another and regard each other as enemies.
He said: “We know there’s a nuclear option and we know where those buttons are but there’s no use pressing them.
“We are there for our similarities, not our differences. You don’t need that enemy there all the time.”

Roger Taylor: Adam Lambert joining Queen was like fate unfolding

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen’s Roger Taylor says Adam Lambert joining the group was like “fate unfolding”.
The iconic rock band’s 69-year-old drummer has admitted they thought the ‘We Are The Champions’ group would never perform again after the death of frontman Freddie Mercury – who died in 1991 from bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS at the age of 45 – and that the chapter was over forever.
‘American Idol’ alumni Lambert, 37, joined the group in 2011, after the Queen + Paul Rodgers incarnation ended after five years in 2009.
Guitarist Brian May and Taylor teamed up with the singer for the documentary, ‘The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story’, which documented the journey of the ‘For Your Entertainment’ hitmaker stepping into the enigmatic late frontman’s shoes.
In the film, Taylor said: “We thought it was all over. And I think Brian and I, well we kinda thought that was the end of that chapter.
“And everything that’s happened, especially since we met Adam has just been fate unfolding.”
‘The Show Must Go On…’ also sees Lambert talk about Mercury’s “loneliness” and how he has come to feel “connected” to his idol on many levels.
He shared: “There’s a few of them [songs] that really hit home from me.
“In learning more about Freddie over the years and learning that there was definitely a loneliness there, I feel like I have enough in common with some of the things Freddie was going through.”
Queen + Adam Lambert embarked on a successful worldwide tour from 2014 to 2018, which is also documented in the two-hour documentary, which aired on ABC in the US on Monday night (29.04.19).
Behind-the-scenes concert footage dating back to their first shows in 2011, as well as a string of interviews with May and Taylor, and Rami Malek, who won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Mercury in the recent ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ biopic, were also featured.
Meanwhile, Lambert recently revealed that while speaking with the band, they allegedly told him that they believe that if the ‘Radio Ga Ga’ singer was still alive, the two of them would have gotten on well.
They were apparently recalling to Lambert about how Mercury had a “dry” sense of humour, and would sometimes pull pranks backstage while on tour, and told him that if the duo had been able to meet, they would have gotten “a kick” out of each other.

The Cranberries found final album like ‘therapy’ after Dolores O’Riordan’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — The Cranberries found making their final album like “therapy” after frontwoman Dolores O’Riordan’s sudden death last January.
The ‘Linger’ group – whose remaining members are Fergal Lawler and Noel and Mike Hogan – were grieving badly when they entered the studio to complete the last record to feature the distinctive singer’s vocals and have admitted they deeply missed the fun “energy” she used to bring to the room.
The three of them soldiered on and channelled their pain into the songs on the LP ‘In the End’ – which was released last week – and the only thing motivating them was wanting to do their final material “justice”.
In an interview with Britain’s The Independent newspaper, Mike said: “It did take our minds off it a bit. Once we’d got past the first week, and put the emotions aside, it was almost like a therapy.”
On their difficult return to the studio, Noel recalled: “The first day it’s all you could really think about: that she’s not here and what happened to her.
“You’d put on the headphones and there’s Dolores singing at you again. But the realisation came to us that if we’re going to be moping around like that, we’re not going to be doing these songs any justice.”
On the “strange” emptiness they felt, Fergal said: “Dolores would always be here, and you miss that energy she had.
“That is strange.”
Noel agreed: “She had a great sense of humour.”
The ‘Zombie’ hitmakers added how she would “lighten the mood” with her laugher and jokes and would always “take the p***” out of people who take themselves too “seriously”.
They continued: “She was great to lighten the mood in a room because in this business people can take themselves very seriously and she couldn’t really deal with that.
“She used to take the p*** out of people – ‘they’re so straight!'”
It wasn’t until Dolores’ passing at the age of 46, that the rest of the band realised just how much of an impact their music has had and they are proud of the “great legacy” they have created.
Noel – who co-wrote the band’s music with Dolores and also plays guitar – admitted: “We had no idea.
“And then we saw this outpouring of how much of an impact we’ve had. It’s a great legacy to leave behind.”

Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay reunite for Roxymphony tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Roxy Music’s Andy Mackay and Phil Manzanera have reunited to perform the band’s classic hits with an orchestra on the ‘Roxymphony’ tour.
Following the band’s induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the two members are heading out on the road in the UK for five shows under the ‘Roxymphony’ banner, following its debut at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall last year.
The set will be comprised of orchestral re-imaginings of acclaimed Roxy Music songs such as ‘Love Is The Drug’, ‘Song For Europe’, ‘Sentimental Fool’, ‘More Than This’, ‘In Every Dream Home’ and ‘Out of The Blue’ as well as tracks from ‘3Psalms’, the new album from Mackay.
The concerts will kick off at Glasgow’s King’s Theatre on October 16 and then come to Gateshead, Manchester and Birmingham, before ending with a performance at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on October 21.
Speaking about the shows, saxophone player Mackay said: “‘Roxymphony’ was an idea that came from the fabulous possibilities of using orchestral strings and other instruments. I had already written the string parts for ‘3Psalms’ and it was incredibly exciting for me to assemble all the musicians for the premiere last year and to perform with Phil. ‘Roxymphony’ was the natural partner and was so well received we felt we just had to do it again.”
Guitarist Manzanera added: “It’s great to be back on stage with Andy Mackay presenting Roxy’s music in a new context. It was a revelation to us all how well-suited the songs were to being orchestrated and how much the audience at the QEH seemed to enjoy it … we’re now emboldened to hit the road and share ‘Roxymphony’ with more of our UK fans.”
The ‘Roxymphony’ set will also be released as a live album later this year.
Tickets for the tour go on sale from 9:00am on Friday (03.05.19) from Ticketmaster.co.uk, Roxymphony.com, AEGPresents.co.uk and more.

G-Eazy promises fans a new album

OHMYGOSSIP — G-Eazy’s new album will be out later this year.
The ‘Me, Myself & I’ hitmaker has teased that he has new music on the way as he admits he has a “clarity” in the studio that he’s never had before.
He said: “I’m finishing up my new album and it’ll be dropping later this year. I’m in the final stages of recording and sequencing it. I’m going to start shooting the music videos soon. I’m so excited, it’s the best music I’ve ever made. And I think that I’ll always feel that way with whatever I’m making at that moment. But, I really feel that this time – something special is happening. I have this clarity in the studio and this level of inspiration and creativity that I haven’t felt before. It feels really good.”
And the 29-year-old rapper feels there is an “interesting thing” going on in the music industry right now as he praised artists for crossing genres.
He added to Forbes.com: “There’s an interesting thing going on in music right now where the barriers of genre are all demolished. You don’t go into Tower Records anymore and go straight to the hip hop section. You’re not confined by walls and rules of format or genre. Everything now is so genre-bending. We also now have artists from all around the world crossing sound, cross styles, collaborating with each other and making some really cool stuff. It’s like a hybrid of a lot of things and I think that’s exciting. Why should music have rules? Music is art. It’s all just expression and energy. So, why be confined to one genre or one space? Think outside the box.”

Brendon Urie gifted key to Las Vegas

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendon Urie has received the Key to Las Vegas.
The Panic! At The Disco frontman – who is fresh from releasing his Taylor Swift collaboration ‘ME!’ – was presented with the Key to the US city for his outstanding contribution to music on Tuesday (30.04.19).
The Vegas native was handed the special honour by Las Vegas Commissioner Jim Gibson.
The ‘High Hopes’ hitmaker follows in the footsteps of music royalty, including Elvis Presley, Madonna and Britney Spears in receiving the Key to Vegas.
The emo pop band recorded their 2008 album ‘Pretty. Odd.’ at the Studio at the Palms in Paradise, Nevada, and many of their music videos and album artwork has featured nods to the city.
In 2018, Brendon launched The Highest Hopes Foundation and partnered with State Farm and the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada to co-found the Youth Notes for Notes recording studio for local children aspiring to be musicians.
The ‘Say Amen’ hitmaker’s Key to the City honour comes ahead of his performance with Taylor at the Billboard Music Awards tonight (01.05.19).
The pair will give the live debut of the track at the annual awards ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Taylor is nominated for Top Female Artist and Top Touring Artist at the show whilst her collaborator and his band are up for Top Duo/Group, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Song for ‘High Hopes’ and Top Rock Album for ‘Pray for the Wicked’.
They will also perform during the ceremony as well as other confirmed artists including Madonna and Maluma, South Korean pop sensations BTS, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson and Paula Abdul.
Speaking about the song ‘ME!’, Taylor said: “It’s about embracing your individuality and really celebrating it. I think that with a pop song we have the ability to get melodies stuck in people’s heads and I just want it to be one that makes people feel better about themselves.”

Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran tease new collaboration?

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran appear to be teasing a new collaboration.
Both artists shared the same photoshopped image of them posing in front of a green screen at a photography studio in a transposed “spooning” position with the number “10” in the caption.
‘Shape of You’ hitmaker Ed wrote alongside the Instagram snap: “10. Photoshop spoon.”
Whilst the ‘Sorry’ hitmaker simply wrote the number.
A new song from the pair – who had a hit with ‘Love Yourself’, which Ed co-wrote with Bieber and Benny Blanco, in 2015 – would come as no surprise, as it was recently reported that the flame-haired star’s new album will feature duets with the 25-year-old pop star and Beyonce.
The 28-year-old singer is working on a new record, which is expected to be released later this year, and will be comprised entirely of duets with other artists.
Along with songs with Justin, Beyonce and Andrea Bocelli, Ed is also set to feature collaborations with “lesser- known hip-hop artists”.
Beyonce featured on a version of Ed’s hit ‘Perfect’ from his latest LP ‘Divide’ and Italian star Andrea on the operatic version titled ‘Perfect Symphony’.
Justin – who recently made his music return on Lil Dicky’s song ‘Earth’ with Ed, Ariana Grande, DJ Khaled, Katy Perry, Halsey, Shawn Mendes and Adam Levine – told fans in March that he wouldn’t be rushing his return to music because he wanted to take the time to make something he could be proud of.
He wrote in a lengthy social media post: “So I read a lot of messages saying you want an album .. I’ve toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s, I realised and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour.
“I will come with a kick ass album ASAP, my swag is undeniable and my drive is indescribable his love is supernatural his grace is that reliable…. the top is where I reside period whether I make music or not the king said so. but I will come with a vengeance believe that.. (grammar and punctuation will be terrible pretend it’s a text where u just don’t care). (sic)”
However, he broke his hiatus to duet with ‘Thank U, Next’ hitmaker Ariana on ‘Sorry’ at Coachella last month.
During his impromptu appearance, which came after Ariana sung ‘Break Free’, Justin – who is married to Hailey Bieber – told the California crowd: “I haven’t been on stage in like two years. I came out here, no idea I was gonna be on stage tonight.
“I wore this fly outfit not knowing I was gonna be on stage. I had to get my groove back, get my swag back.”
The ‘Love Yourself’ singer – who shares manager Scooter Braun with the ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ hitmaker – then said: “Thank you Coachella, thank you to Ariana Grande. She’s so amazing by the way, she’s so awesome.”
Justin also teased that his new album – his first since 2015’s ‘Purpose’ – is “coming soon”.

Pink only planned EP before stars came on board for Hurts 2B Human

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink was only planning to release an EP before she was inundated with calls from people wanting to contribute to her latest LP ‘Hurts 2B Human’.
The ‘Walk Me Home’ singer didn’t expect to put out a “whole new project”, but couldn’t turn down the chance to work with the likes of Khalid, Beck, Chris Stapleton, Sia, Julia Michaels and Dan Reynolds.
She told The Chicago-Sun Times: “Opportunities kept coming up for me to work with all these incredible people, and I think that’s what this record is all about: the village it took to create it.
“I thought maybe I’d just put out an EP for the fans, but then it started steamrolling into this whole new project.”
‘Hurts 2B Human’ – which was released on Friday (26.04.19) – is Pink’s first studio album since 2017’s ‘Beautiful Trauma’.
It’s not even halfway through the year yet, but Pink has already been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was this year’s Outstanding Contribution To Music prize recipient at the BRIT Awards.
During her acceptance speech for the sidewalk tribute, the pop superstar praised her husband Carey Hart for being her “muse” and hailed their two children, Jameson, two, and daughter Willow, seven, her “stars”, who she wouldn’t “shine” without.
She said: “Thank you to my fans – you guys make it matter. Thank you for coming.
My husband – he’s so cute.
“He’s my muse and if he didn’t p**s me off all the time I’d have not much to say.
“I wouldn’t be standing up here if it wasn’t for you. Never change. My children – you guys are my stars and I would never shine without you.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ singer previously revealed she credits her broad appeal to being a “hot mess”.
She explained: “I think I’m just a hot mess and people appreciate that. But I look like … I go on tour and I look at the audience, and I can see every age. There’s no real demographic. There’s … it’s very surprising. It’s three generations. And that’s what I love about music. That’s … it’s the only sort of universal language that we all
speak. And I don’t know. I love that part. It’s wonderful.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo celebrated reaching a million followers on Instagram by doing a naked butt dance with her flute.

THIS PAGE IS A SELF-LOVE ACTIVATION STATION. USE IT WISELY. AND GET YOOOO LIFE. thank you from the bottom of my big ass (sic)”
The ‘Tempo’ hitmaker recently opened up about her body confidence.
The 30-year-old singer – whose real name is Melissa Jefferson – thinks her own body is “f***ing beautiful” and she always likes the way she looks.
She said: “I love my body. No matter what angle you shoot it at … my body is just so f***ing beautiful all the time.
“I may talk s**t about it sometimes, but f**k. She’s still a bad bitch.”
However, Lizzo – who released her album ‘Cuz I Love You’ to critical acclaim last month – admitted it took her some time to feel so confident.
She said: “I felt this with how I was being perceived for much of my life.
“Until I was like, f**k it. I just need to be undeniable. It’s not about me being big. It’s about me being me. Y’all are going to get this bad bitch. You are going to get these bops and get this show. And you are going to get your life by receiving it.”

Charli XCX promises new music is her ‘best yet’

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX has apologised to fans for the wait for new music – but promised the new material is her “best yet”.
The ‘Boys’ hitmaker logged onto to Twitter on Thursday (30.04.19) to share an update on her long-awaited new tunes and teased that they will be a continuation of her popular mixtape ‘Pop 2’ and “even more Charli” with “no compromises”.
She wrote: “just so you know angels – i am working on new music and things are coming this year. i know i’m slow sometimes but i want things perfect. this new era will be all things Charli. kind of a continuation of pop 2 but also more Charli than ever before. no compromises, my best yet. (sic)”
At the beginning of the year, the 26-year-old pop star vowed to release a new album this year.
The ‘5 in the Morning’ singer had initially told fans last year that she would make her first record since 2014’s ‘Sucker’ if her latest single ‘1999’ went into the top 10.
And she later told her loyal following it’s “about time” she releases her next the full-length effort.
Sharing her New Year’s Resolutions written on an iPhone Note, which read: “New Years Resolutions:
“1. Make an album
“2. Release it (sic)”, she captioned the Twitter post: “about time, right?? (sic)”
Charli was blown away by how well 2018’s ‘1999’, which features Troye Sivan, performed in the charts – it peaked at number 13 in UK – and had said she planned on rewarding her fans, known as her Angels, by dropping her first studio album in five years, if the track shifted two places up.
Sharing a link to download the track, Charli tweeted in December: “UMMM ANGELS WTF?! IF THIS GOES TOP 10 I’LL MAKE ANOTHER ALBUM AND DROP IT NEXT YEAR. https://ad.gt/1999 (sic)”
Despite having released two mixtapes – ‘Number 1 Angel’ and ‘Pop 2’ – and several singles since her last full album, Charli initially admitted she didn’t have a plan when it comes to her music in the future.
Asked if she’s planning a third full-length record, she said: “You know, I don’t really know. I don’t really have a plan, so to speak. I’m just kind of releasing what I want when I want. I’m not sure what’s next. Maybe it’s an album, maybe it’s not an album, maybe there’s never an album, maybe there are 10 more mixtapes. I’m just kind of doing what I want to do and seeing where I go.”

Emma Bunton: Spice Girls are really strong as a four

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Bunton says the Spice Girls are “really strong” as a four-piece.
The 43-year-old singer – who is known as Baby Spice in the ‘Viva Forever’ group – has admitted that while it’s a shame that Victoria Beckham isn’t joining her, Mel B, Geri Horner and Melanie C for their upcoming reunion tour, their first live shows since performing at the 2012 London Olympics Closing Ceremony, they have put together a “very special show” and have loved working together again.
Appearing on UK TV show ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday (01.05.19), she admitted: “I’ve said it before but it’s weird, I think we kind of knew it wouldn’t happen again after the Olympics. I think it was something we all felt, ‘Ok this could be the last time with the five of us’. But we feel really strong as a four, we’ve created this show, it’s very special.”
The girls have been rehearsing with their new troupe and, despite being “apprehensive” about how it would all pan out, they are loving the “fun” new routines they have been learning and all of their children have been involved.
Emma – who has Tate, seven, and Beau, 11, with partner Jade Jones – said: “It’s been so much fun. Obviously, we were a bit apprehensive the first day. We were like, ‘What’s the choreography going to be like?’… We are just having so much fun at the moment.
“There’s a few little numbers we are learning at the moment, a few new dance steps. The kids have been down, all the kids.”
Despite reports that Victoria may join the band for at least one show, Emma has insisted that she won’t be making an appearance on stage, but she is coming down to watch.
The ‘Baby Please Don’t Stop’ singer said: “Yes, she said she’s going to come. The staging is huge, I’m not sure where’s she’s sitting, if she would get down on time [to the stage].
“No, she’s not going to be on the show but she’s definitely going to come and see it and we can’t wait for her to see the show.”
The Spice Girls’ tour kicks off in Dublin, Ireland on May 24.

Sean Paul: My mom blames overpopulation on my sexy lyrics

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Paul’s mother thinks his sexy lyrics are causing the Earth’s population to increase.
The ‘Mad Love’ hitmaker has confessed his mom Frances Henriques has told him to “sing songs about contraception” as she thinks he is causing overpopulation across the globe.
He said: “My mum, she’s like: ‘Yo the earth should not be so populated, you have to sing songs about contraception,’ one day I’ll do it as it’s true. It’s crazy, we are clotting the place up.”
And Sean also feels his lyrics are helping the male population impress their female counterparts.
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “I had a dude come up to me one time at a party and say: ‘Yo as a kid growing up and hearing your songs it was different, you were talking to the ladies different bro, you gave me some swag.’ The kid was saying, ‘I didn’t hear people say it like that before in this genre,’ like how to chat girls, which is an important thing for the growth of humanity and continuation of life.”
Meanwhile, Sean recently teased who his dream collaboration would be, admitting he’s always wanted to work with her.
He shared: “I’ve been saying I want to collaborate with Alicia Keys all my life. Recently Swizz [Beatz] reached out to me about her. We got a song brewing up in the mix, so hopefully in a few months I’ll finish recording. There’s a demo, but we want to be in the same room together. So big up Swizz and Alicia. I’ve been waiting more than 20 years!”

Kylie Minogue’s Glastonbury surprise

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue is considering wearing her famous gold hotpants for her Glastonbury legends set.
The ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ hitmaker is excited about performing at the iconic music festival next month and is encouraging her fans to wear the statement piece of clothing.
Asked if she plans to wear her famous hotpants, she said: “I hadn’t thought about that. Gosh, I don’t know. You’ve really planted a seed that I had not considered. I don’t think they would have the same impact as they did in 2000 … Well let’s try and get lots of people wearing them. That would be amazing. And the sun’s meant to come out, so they’ll be gleaming.”
And Kylie has confessed she thinks about her setlist all the time.
She added: “In a part of my brain it’s all I think about. It’s such a big deal for me, that will be very emotional. I can’t really put it into words yet what I think it’s going to be like, aside from the fact that I hope it’s just a massive singalong and we can all travel together down memory lane. I guess the difficulty is choosing which songs to put in when I’ve got 75 minutes. I might have to do a little megamix at some point.”
Kylie also feels her Glastonbury performance will “mark a point in time” for her and she is looking forward to getting back in the studio afterwards.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I feel like it will really mark a point in time, and then I imagine I would look forward to having a clean slate and, as and when I get back in the studio, just getting back to business. I would look forward to doing a pop-disco album. That’s where I think I would head.”

The Oasis star has premiered Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ brand new track, which is available digitally now. It comes from the EP of the same name, which also features two new tracks – ‘Rattling Rose’ and ‘Sail On’.
The EP, which also includes a 12″ Mix and a mix by French DJ/producer Nicolas Laugier of the lead single, will be out on June 14, the day that Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds headline the Isle of Wight Festival.
Speaking about the reaction to the song, Noel said: “It’s been good, the track is a bit of a grower.”
And Noel has got a fan in Nile Rodgers, who branded the new song “dope”.
He explained: “When I was recording it in Abbey Road, he happened to be in the studio doing something else and he stuck his head round the door and he started dancing round the studio to it. And he said, ‘This is dope,’ and that was the only affirmation I needed. If it’s dope then it’s dope.”
Noel loves hearing his songs on the radio – including his famous hit ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2 on Thursday morning (02.05.19), he shared: “Of course, even if I’m driving around London and ‘Don’t Look Back On Anger’ comes up. I say to the taxi driver, ‘Can you turn that up please?'”
‘Black Star Dancing’ was inspired by the likes of David Bowie, U2 and Queen.
Of the song, he explained: “It manages to combine the influences of David Bowie, INXS, U2, Queen, Indeep AND ZZ Top FFS! … I might have been watching too much ‘Top Of The Pops’ recently … anyway, it’s ‘dope’ … not my words, but the words of Nile Rodgers who literally danced in the studio when he heard it!”
‘Black Star Dancing’ is out now.
