OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne has announced his new album ‘Ordinary Man’, which he says is a “gift from a higher power”.
The former Black Sabbath frontman has kickstarted the launch of his first solo record since 2010’s ‘Scream’, with brand new single ‘Under The Graveyard’, his first in almost a decade.
The legendary rocker was hospitalised with pneumonia at the beginning of this year, and shortly afterwards suffered a fall at his LA home, which dislodged the metal rods in his spine that had been put in after a quad-bike accident in 2003, which had left him sofa-bound.
Ozzy has credited rapper Post Malone for “saving” him by asking him to appear on his recent single, ‘Take What You Want’, and as a result of the sessions they had with his producer Andrew Watt, the ‘Crazy Train’ hitmaker started working on ‘Ordinary Man’ with the studio wizard.
He said: “This album was a gift from my higher power – it is proof to me that you should never give up.”
The new record features Andrew on guitar, Guns N’ Roses rocker Duff McKagan on bass and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith on drums.
On how it all came together, Ozzy, 70, explained: “It all started when [his daughter] Kelly comes in and says ‘do you want to work on a Post Malone song?’
“My first thing was ‘who the f*** is Post Malone?!’
“I went to Andrew’s [Watt] house and he said we will work really quick.
“After we finished that song, he said ‘would you be interested in starting an album.’
“I said ‘that would be f***ing great, but now I am thinking I don’t want to be working in a basement studio for six months!
“And in just a short time, we had the album done.
“Duff [McKagan] and Chad [Smith] came in and we would go in and jam during the day and I would go work out the songs in the evenings.
“I previously had said to Sharon [Osbourne, his wife] I should be doing an album, but in the back of my mind I was going ‘I haven’t got the ***ing strength …’ but Andrew pulled it out of me.
“I really hope people listen to it and enjoy it, because I put my heart and soul into this album.”
The ‘Paranoid’ singer added how ‘Ordinary Man’ is “the most important” record he’s made in “probably” 28 years.
He said: “This is quite possibly the most important album I have done in a very long time, probably since (1991’s) ‘No More Tears.'”
Ozzy’s wife Sharon recently teased that the record will be released in January, 2020, but an official date is yet to be confirmed.

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Kiwanuka suffers from impostor syndrome.
The 32-year-old singer/songwriter returned with his third self-titled studio album ‘Kiwanuka’ last week, and he has admitted it was a “therapeutic” process for him because he’s been able to “tackle” his “worries”.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, he said: “It’s been a therapeutic album for sure.
“I’ve had anxiety before but this time I had anxieties of a different kind.
“I’m 32 and I knew I had to tackle my worries properly or they were going to remain.”
Part of the ‘Cold Little Heart’ singer’s anxieties have related to the pressures to live up to “high standards” and finding his “Identity” and space alongside his peers.
He explained: “I guess it’s about identity, fitting in and finding the confidence to enjoy it.
“I always use football analogies. I’m a big Spurs fan. Dele Alli has been struggling but last Sunday he scored and for ten minutes he was back to his old self, with that confidence and we saw him again.
“I’ve just had to get used to feeling right about my part in music, as there are high standards wherever I go. “Sometimes I find it suffocating and I find everything nerve-wracking and wonder if I am good enough or if I can keep up.
“It’s like imposter syndrome. It’s the same self-doubt or not fitting in that I’ve had all my life.”
Michael now lives with his wife Charlotte and their puppy in Southampton in south west England, and he has admitted that he doesn’t “look for acceptance as much because she has his corner”.
He said: “Things have been great since I got married.
“I don’t need to look for acceptance as much because she has my corner.
“When we first met it was tough, as the work-life balance is difficult in this business.
“I’d always be off somewhere but that’s why we like living outside London — because we can have quality time.
“I want to do it the best way and make sure I can do it.
“It means I’m closer to my family, too.”
The soulful singer added how he would love to have children when the time is right.
He said: “I think we will have our own family soon but until then we have the dog, who loves bouncing around like a maniac. “He’s good. For a young puppy, he’s pretty well-behaved, even though he’s about to become a teenager.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fender was “chewing” his “face off in frustration” when the likes of George Ezra and Hozier’s careers exploded and his didn’t.
The ‘Dead Boys’ hitmaker was “desperate” to become a pop star and felt depleted when a whole group of singer/songwriters and bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen’s careers took off, so he decided to have one last stab by penning tracks that would connect with everyone.
In an interview with Britain’s I newspaper, he confessed: “They all went on to explode, while I didn’t.
“I was chewing my face off in frustration, I was that desperate to make it like they had, to write pop songs because I thought people might like them.
“Then I realised that if I’m going to fail, then I may as well fail on my own terms, with songs I really believed in.”
The 23-year-old star had spent years auditioning for acting roles and he worked in a bar to save up money to go up to London each time he got a call to tryout for a role.
But after having no luck and running out of money, he decided to give music a go.
When he was 18, his manager at the pub told him to go and sit in the corner of the room and play guitar and he ended up playing to Ben Howard’s manager, who picked up on his talent instantly.
Earlier this year, Sam won the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award in February, and his since supported his idol Bob Dylan at Hyde Park and scored a number one album with debut ‘Hypersonic Missiles’.
The ‘Poundshop Kardashians’ singer comes from a working class background and he has admitted he’s struggled to get used to being famous, and he’s also recently cut out alcohol for the time being so he can “keep his head straight” and try to soak up his success.
He said: “I’m going through a phase of abstinence right now.
“I have to cut things out so I can keep my head straight, because there have already been so many highs and lows, and I don’t need chemicals to make things any worse.
“I’m just trying to take it all in. And I’ve not taken anything in yet.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo thinks rap made her a better singer.
The ‘Juice’ hitmaker spent years honing her craft and thinks that has helped her with her career now because her voice is so much more “finely tuned and shaped”.
She told the new issue of Britain’s Vogue magazine: “I became a good singer touring as a rapper.
“All of the things that I would rap would turn into melodies and they would get real soulful and real punchy.
“It was not a secret ace card in the pack, it was a tool that I was finely tuning and shaping.”
The 31-year-old star claims her message of body positivity is to promote it to herself.
She explained: “Anybody that uses body positivity to sell something is using it for their personal gain. That’s just it.
“We weren’t selling anything in the beginning. We were just selling ourselves and selling ourselves on the idea – selling ourselves on ourselves, you know?
“I’m not trying to sell you me. I’m trying to sell you, you.”
Lizzo is thankful she didn’t find fame and success when she was much younger.
She explained: “I think if I was 21 right now, I would not be able to maintain this lifestyle without having major anxiety and panic attacks. But thank God, my journey is all about self-care and finding that love for yourself and nurturing yourself. Because that’s what artists need more than anything.”
The ‘Truth Hurts’ singer also spoke about her childhood, and said she didn’t have anyone to look up to in the media that looked like her.
She said: “I would watch things on television and I would look at magazines and I would not see myself. When you don’t see yourself, you start to think something’s wrong with you. Then you want to look like those things and when you realise it’s a physical impossibility, you start to think, ‘What the f**k is wrong with me?’ I think that took a greater toll on me, psychologically, growing up than what anyone could have said to me.”

The six-time Grammy Award-winning singer has invited a series of celebrity guests to join the festive celebrations as part of the streaming platform’s first foray into the holiday special genre with ‘The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show’.
The 31-year-old star – who will pay tribute to traditional holiday specials whilst adding her own spin – revealed: “I can say without a doubt that this project is unlike anything I’ve ever done before.
“What started as the small seed of an idea one night over a year ago has turned into something I’m so proud of. Some truly brilliant comedic and musical guests are featured in the show – as well as my own Grandma.
“My vision was to bring my old Christmas album to life visually and create a modern and fashionable, fresh take on a classic format. It’s a nostalgic, Wes Anderson-inspired reimagining of the holidays. It’s heartfelt, funny, and most of all, real. I can’t wait to finally share.”

Dan Levy will narrate the night’s events, and there will be a guest appearance by actor Fred Armisen, who will join Kacey for the seasonal classic ‘Silent Night’.

OHMYGOSSIP — My Chemical Romance have confirmed four gigs for next year.
The ‘Teenagers’ band – who split back in 2013 and haven’t played a show in seven years – announced last week they will be getting back together for an intimate gig at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on December 20, and have now revealed they will be taking their comeback overseas in March.
The band – which features Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero, and Mikey Way – will headline Download Festival Australia in Melbourne and Sydney on March 20 and 21 respectively alongside the likes of Deftones and Jimmy Eat World.
From there, they will fly to New Zealand to play at The Outer Fields at Western Springs Stadium in Auckland on March 25, along with special guests Jimmy Eat World, Midnight Youth, and Miss June.
The final announced date will be a headline slot at Download Japan on March 29, where other artists performing include The Offspring and Evanescence.
After the group’s Los Angeles gig sold out within minutes of going on sale last week, the ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ hitmakers admitted they hadn’t expected such a response.
They wrote on Twitter: “It is truly unbelievable to us the happiness we have experienced over the past two days. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the warm welcome back. We truly did not expect this. See you soon. Xoxo, MCR. (sic)”
The upcoming show will mark the band’s first performance together since 2012, and comes almost a decade after their last album, ‘Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’, which was released in 2010.
However, earlier this year, frontman Gerard ruled out the prospect of getting back together with his bandmates.
At the time, he explained: “We definitely get offers regularly to reunite – it’s a constant thing … It’s flattering, it’s really nice of people … I miss playing with the guys, but I don’t think so.”

OHMYGOSSIP — OutKast, Beach Boys star Mike Love, Patti Smith and more have been nominated for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020.
The ‘Hey Ya!’ duo – comprised of rappers Big Boy and André 3000 – ‘I Get Around’ hitmaker and ‘Because the Night’ singer are among 24 names shortlisted for the special honour, which recognises songwriters “with a notable catalogue of songs”.
Mariah Carey – who was nominated in 2018 – The Neptunes – (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo) Journey, Eurythmics members Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, and the Isley Brothers are also among the nominees.
Mike penned a number of hits with his bandmate Brian Wilson, including 1964’s ‘Fun, Fun, Fun’, 1965’s ‘California Girls’ and 1966’s ‘Good Vibrations’.
In the late 1970s, he began working on solo albums, releasing his first, ‘Looking Back with Love’, In 1981.
Mike and the founding members of the Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by 1988.
The 78-year-old star admitted he feels “emotionally touched” to have been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
He tweeted: “I am deeply honored for being nominated to the @SongwritersHOF.
“I have no words to describe how emotionally touched I am. I have so many loving memories of writing those songs & so much gratitude to those who have loved our music for so many generations. (sic)”
OutKast’s Big Boi, simply wrote on Instagram: “OK Den ! #SongwritersHallOfFame (sic)”
The induction ceremony takes place on June 11, 2020 in New York, and voting runs until December 16.
Missy Elliott became the first female rapper to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in June.
Justin Timberlake received the Contemporary Icon award in recognition of his “extraordinary” body of work, whilst Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens), John Prine, Tom T. Hall and Jack Tempchin were also honoured, plus Halsey took home the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award.

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles and Stormzy have been added to the line-up for Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball.
The ‘Lights Up’ singer – who has just announced his second solo album ‘Fine Line’ will be released on December 13 – and the ‘Vossi Bop’ rapper are set to join Liam Payne, Rita Ora, Jax Jones and Ava Max at London’s The O2 arena for the annual festive music extravaganza on Saturday, December 7.
Plus Jonas Blue, rapper-of-the-moment Aitch, rising pop star Lauv, rap duo Young T & Bugsey, and ‘Ride It’ hitmaker Regard.

OHMYGOSSIP — George Michael’s family released the late star’s upbeat first single in seven years, ‘This Is How (We Want You To Get High)’, to spread “love and festive joy”.
The posthumous track was made available to stream on Wednesday (06.11.19) and will be played at the end of the forthcoming film ‘Last Christmas’ – a festive romantic comedy inspired by the music of George and his former band Wham!.
His family and longtime manager David Austin, who referred to the music icon by his nickname “Yog”, said in a joint statement: “We hope fans and lovelies everywhere rejoice in hearing this great new song written as ever with Yog’s immense passion and pride.
“This new track we proudly send as his gift to you this season to bring you all love and festive joy. Whoever you worship … Whoever you love…”
The funky song, which was recorded during George’s final studio sessions in 2015, premiered on BBC Radio 2 on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ on Wednesday morning (06.11.19), and the host admitted: “It’s made me really emotional, it’s absolutely beautiful.”
The movie’s soundtrack will feature three Wham! songs, including ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘Everything She Wants’, plus 12 of the ‘Careless Whisper’ hitmaker’s solo songs.
The idea for the film – which is directed by Paul Feig and stars the likes of Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh – came to be after producer David Livingstone had a conversation with Dame Emma Thompson, a close friend of George, about his love of Wham!’s festive 1984 hit ‘Last Christmas’.
The Oscar-winner – who co-wrote the screenplay – then received George’s seal of appeal for the film when she visited him at his London home in 2013.
Sadly, the ‘Fastlove’ hitmaker tragically passed away on Christmas Day 2016 at the age of 53.
Emma said recently: “[George] was just the loveliest guy you could imagine. [He loved] all of these themes in the movie; he was passionate about homelessness, and he had this great social conscience.
“I got really enthused and we started to write, and then – of course – he had that tragic early death in 2016, on Christmas Day.
“So we lost him, and I miss him so much. I wish he was here because I know he’d love it, because the film’s like being hugged, and all of his music – we’ve got 15 of his songs, including a new one at the end – is so cool.
“The wisdom and emotional scope of George’s lyrics have always amazed me. So many feel like they were written for the movie.
“After I met George and experienced his compassion and understanding up close, I realised that in fact the movie was written for those lyrics.”
‘Last Christmas’ hits cinemas on November 15.

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson felt a “pressure” to make the “best album” for his fans.
The former One Direction star has taken three years since releasing his debut solo single, ‘Just Hold On’ , with Steve Aoki to announce his first record, ‘Walls’ – which is released on January 31, 2020 – and has admitted he felt bad that his loyal following had to wait so long so he “owed” it to them to produce his finest work.
He confessed: “If I’m being honest, with the greatest … without like … I think they’ll understand this, but to be honest, and for the right reasons, the pressure comes from the fan base.
“And that’s because I owe them, I owe them. You know what I mean? To a certain degree.
“They’re incredible people, super dedicated when I was in the band, and it’s carried on throughout.
“There will be different awards that I get nominated for and, again, I’ve not had an album out, and they’ll just vote super hard!
They’re just incredible people, so I feel like, I owe it to them to make the best album I can and to get it out at some point. And now we’re there!”
The ‘Kill My Mind’ singer also revealed that the “we” in his latest single ‘We Made It’ is referring to him and his fanbase and the “collective moment” they will share on his upcoming solo world tour.
He told the ‘Billboard Pop Shop Podcast’: “I always like to write things where the fans feel they’re included, and that moment of me playing my first tour show and thinking to myself, ‘alright, we’ve done alright!’ That’s collective. That’s not just on my own.
“You know what I mean?
“Because these people have been patient with me, really patient. And you know, I’ve got a really loyal fan base, so that’s going to be a moment of success – mutually, you know what I mean?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Trainor’s much-delayed new album ‘Treat Myself’ will be released early next year.
The ‘All About That Bass’ hitmaker was forced to push back her third studio album – the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Thank You’ – which was originally set to be released on August 31, 2018, because she was still penning tracks and she revealed at the time that it was a collective decision between her and her team, because they didn’t want to stand in the way of her creative flare.
Meghan finally confirmed “for realz this time (sic)” that the record will be out on January 31, 2020, during her appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Wednesday (06.11.19).
Afterwards, she said on Instagram: “I’m so excited that I got to announce the release date of my album, Treat Myself, on Ellen today! I’ve never worked harder on an album or been more proud of the music, I cannot wait for you all to hear it! There are also some very exciting features that you will find out about soon…January 31st! For realz this time! (sic)”
The ‘Marvin Gaye’ singer has also shared her brand new track ‘Workin’ On It’ from the record, which features Lennon Stella and Sasha Sloan.
The empowering song sees Meghan confess: “I’ve been workin’ on, workin’ on it … Trying to see what you see when you look at me.”
Explaining the delay, Meghan previously said: “I just keep writing songs and my management and my label both agree we can’t just stop here.
“‘We can’t just put out what we have, we have to let you keep writing.’ [I’m] too creative right now. Can’t stop. I’m just so inspired by other artists.”
The 24-year-old singer believed her creativity kicked in after she got engaged to her partner Daryl Sabara in December last year, and was signed up to be a judge on ‘The Four’.
Alongside a picture of herself in the studio, Meghan wrote on Instagram: “This past year has been one of the most exciting of my entire life. I got engaged to the love of my life, Daryl! I got to hang out with Diddy, DJ Khaled and Fergie on ‘The Four’, and I released five new songs that I’m absolutely obsessed with.
“I’m in such an amazing place and I can’t stop writing songs… I’ve decided to move my new album TREAT MYSELF until I get everything out of my head and recorded in the studio. I’ve never been more excited for all of you to hear my new music. Thank you for your continued love and support. (sic)”
The album is said to be a family affair with appearances from her loved ones including her fiancé, who “sings on every song” on the collection.
She said previously: “I’ve been in the studio every day with my family. My entire family sings on every song and Daryl sings on every song, and my father plays the piano and organs on one song. It’s really special. It’s obviously me being in love and happy, and reminding myself to choose happiness and love myself.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga axed her Las Vegas show on Wednesday (06.11.19) as she was “very sick”.
The 33-year-old star pulled out of her ‘Enigma’ residency appearance at the Park Theater at Park MGM after contracting a sinus infection and bronchitis but vowed to make it up to her fans when she felt better.
She wrote on Instagram: “I’m so devasted I can’t perform tonight for so many people who traveled to come see me. I have a sinus infection and bronchitis and feel very sick and sad.
“I never want to let you down. I’m just to weak and ill too[sic] perform tonight. I love you little monsters I’ll make it up to you. I promise.(sic)”
It is currently unclear whether the ‘Bad Romance’ hitmaker’s scheduled shows for 8 and 9 November will be going ahead.
Last month, the ‘Star is Born’ actress fell off stage during her residency show.
Gaga had invited a male fan on stage – which she does at every gig before her performance of ‘A Million Reasons’ – and jumped into his arms, but as they embraced, he lost his footing and the pair fell into the audience pit.
The ‘Poker Face’ singer quickly got back on stage and reassured the audience she was unhurt.
She said: “Everything’s okay. Everything’s okay. The only thing that’s not okay is we need some stairs for the damn stage so I can get back up!
“That was a fall! But sometimes, even if you fall, you make it up.”
Despite insisting she was OK, Gaga had to undergo multiple x-rays afterwards.
She shared a photo of her hand x-ray on her social media accounts and wrote: “When they have to X-Ray almost your entire body… Just Dance. Gonna be ok (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bring Me The Horizon’s next album might be their last proper full-length release.
Oli Sykes and co returned on Thursday (07.11.19) with their new single, ‘Ludens’ – which is part of the soundtrack to the ‘Death Stranding’ video game – their first new music since their sixth record ‘amo’, which was released in January.
And the frontman has admitted that they are considering opting for shorter albums after their seventh studio effort.
Asked about what’s next for the Sheffield band, the ‘Mantra’ hitmaker told NME.com: “We’ve got plans, definitely. ‘Ludens’ will be the first song you hear from the new record.
“We’re not going to do an album again, maybe ever.
“We’re thinking about doing shorter records.
“I don’t want to say we’re going to do something and not live up to it, but the plan is to release multiple records next year.”
Oli insisted he’s “really proud” of their last record, but he wasn’t a fan of how long it took to make, and he feels that it’s a waste of time producing a whole collection of tracks when only a few of them will be played live.
He added: “I’m really proud of ‘amo’, but it was such a f***ing b***ache to make.
“We spent a whole f***ing year of our lives making that record.
“Part of me was like, ‘For what? We’re never going to get to play all of those songs’.
“You have to ration your creativity over all your songs.
“You write a really cool pop song then you have to write a heavy song to balance out, then you need to think about singles.”
‘Ludens’ was recorded in less than a week to meet a tight deadline from Sony and ‘Death Stranding’ director Hideo Kojima, and with some legal “s***” looming over the game and the small time they had to complete it, Oli didn’t think it was going to be pulled off.
He said: “It doesn’t sound like anything off ‘amo’, but it doesn’t sound like anything off any of our records.
“It hits a different tone. We had to write it in five days.
“We’ve been talking about this with Sony and Kojima for quite a while.
“I was really excited because I loved ‘Metal Gear Solid’ and Kojima is just my favourite developer, he’s a legend.
“All of the legal s*** was going on to the point where we like, ‘This isn’t going to happen’.
“Then we got a call from the manager and he was like, ‘Yeah, it’s happening, but we need it within a week’.
“We were like, ‘We haven’t written anything yet! Can we have an extension or send them a demo as a placeholder’, and they were like, ‘If you don’t deliver the song on Saturday at 1pm then it won’t get used’.”

The US pop superstar is the final act confirmed for the festive extravaganza, joining a line-up boasting Sam Smith, AJ Tracey, Mabel and The Script on Sunday, December 8 at The O2 in London.
Plus Sigala, Anne-Marie, Tom Walker, Dutch DJ Sam Feldt and ‘Sorry’ hitmaker Joel Corry.
The last time the ‘You Need To Calm Down’ hitmaker played this side of the pond was on her ‘Reputation Stadium Tour’ in summer 2018.
Harry Styles and Stormzy were just confirmed for the first night of CJBB on Saturday, December 7.
The former One Direction star and ‘Vossi Bop’ rapper are joined on the star-studded bill by Harry’s old bandmate Liam Payne, plus Rita Ora, Jax Jones and Ava Max, Jonas Blue, rapper-of-the-moment Aitch, pop star Lauv, rap duo Young T & Bugsey, and ‘Ride It’ hitmaker Regard.

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Homme used “every trick” in his box when he produced his idol Iggy Pop’s album ‘Post Pop Depression’.
The Queens of the Stone Age and Crooked Vultures star has admitted he’d “never been allowed to be part of something as cool” until he entered the studio with the rock legend to work on the 2016 LP.
He said: “For years I’d said, ‘Oh man, if I worked with Iggy, I’d do this’ but of course, that changed.
“I’m really glad we worked together in that moment, at that time, because he was 69 years old and he had something to say.
“Maybe I will actually be 69 one day and maybe I could have something to say too.”
On not holding back, the ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me Now’ hitmaker added to NME.com: “That’s the moment when every trick you’ve saved and everything you’ve ever held back, that’s the exact moment to release all those things.
“Sometimes you find yourself holding back for a reason you don’t understand and find yourself never letting go.
“So I told Iggy, ‘I’m not holding anything back, I’m not saving anything, this is that moment.'”
Meanwhile, The Godfather of Punk recently admitted that he felt “drained” from touring with Josh and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders to support ‘Post Pop Depression’, and admitted he thinks it’s best to put more energy into his music rather than shows now he’s in his 70s.
He said: “I felt a little drained. As you mature, physically, when you get past 60 if you’re still active, it’s a good idea to put more of your efforts into mental work and less into physical work.”
Iggy released his new album ‘Free’ in September, and the ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ singer also put out a book, titled ‘Til Wrong Feels Right: Lyrics and More’, covering his six decades in music, as a solo artist and with The Stooges.

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Marr has quashed rumours The Smiths are set to reunite.
Earlier this week, a fan sparked speculation the legendary band – who split up in 1987 – were “closer than ever” to making a return, but when another fan asked the guitarist if the gossip was true, he made a quip comparing his former bandmate, frontman Morrissey, who is pro-Brexit, to the leader of the Brexit Party, Nigel Farage.
He simply wrote back on Twitter: “Nigel Farage on guitar.”
Morrissey courted controversy when he said the result of the EU Referendum in June was “magnificent” and he also hailed Farage a “liberal educator”.
Marr later addressed his comments and insisted he has nothing to do with his bandmate’s political opinions and that he doesn’t see the band – which was also comprised of Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce – making a comeback anytime soon.
He said: “I can only really speak for myself, I don’t feel like it’s necessary at all really.
“I really like moving forward. Myself and Andy (Rourke, bass player) play together when I’m over in New York … he plays a couple of songs with me and that’s always really nice, but that’s really as far as it needs to go I think.”
Marr also previously insisted Morrissey’s outbursts can’t taint the ‘This Charming Man’ hitmakers’ legacy because people know they’re nothing to do with the band.
He said: “It seems to be upsetting people more than it’s actually upsetting me.
“Me and Morrissey were always very different people. It’s OK. You can’t change history.
“The Smiths stood for the marginalised, and the disenfranchised, whether that was because of your sexuality or your lifestyle or your sensibility, or where you were born, or your race.
“Everybody knows The Smiths were never about hate. I don’t think of The Smiths any differently.
“Anything else, it’s not The Smiths, it’s something else. And that hasn’t been anything to do with me for 30 years.”
