OHMYGOSSIP — Tinashe has unveiled the track-listing for her new album ‘Songs For You’.
The R&B star declared two months ago that she is “back and better” after taking more than a year away to work on new music, and now she has confirmed the fruits of her labour, the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Joyride’, will be released independently on November 21.
The tracks include, ‘Die a Little Bit’ with rapper Ms Banks, ‘Touch and Go’ with 6LACK and ‘So Much Better’ with G-Eazy.
The ‘All My Friends’ singer left RCA Records in February, following the much-delayed release of ‘Joyride’, and after taking some time to herself she went through “a lot of changes” and admitted she now feels “inspired and free” to make the music she wants to make.
In an video updating her fans posted on Instagram, the 26-year-old star said: “I know that I have been quiet for a minute, I’ve been in my cave, I’ve been working … but I am so inspired lately and feeling so free throughout the last year and a little bit more.
“I’ve been going through a lot of changes.
“Creatively, I just feel like I needed to go through what I went through in order to be the person that I am today and to get back to my roots.
“It’s so f***ing crazy. You pretty much put your heart and soul and emotions into all these songs and then you put them out there for the world to judge and tear down and pick apart. It’s terrifying and it can really mess with your head.
“You know, f*** the system. F*** anyone who tries to put you in a box and tries to limit you and tries to tell you that you can’t be this and that, that you have to be this or that.
“Music and art are supposed to be these wonderful beautiful things that bring people joy and happiness, and that’s really why I started making music in the first place – to give people something that means something to them.
So thank you for allowing me to do that.
“I love you, bye.”
She captioned the post: “I’m back and I’m better.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Pet Shop Boys will release new album ‘Hotspot’ early next year.
The synth-pop duo – comprised of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe – worked on the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Super’ with long-time collaborator, Stuart Price, who is known for his work with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Take That.
The ‘West End Girls’ hitmakers made the tracks at the iconic Hansa studios in Berlin, Germany, where the likes of the late David Bowie, U2, Depeche Mode and Brian Eno have recorded.
The pair said: “We’ve written much of our music over the last 10 years in Berlin and it was an exciting experience to work on this album in the legendary Hansa studios there and add a new dimension to our sound.”
The 10-track LP, which will be released on January 24, 2020, features the lead single ‘Dreamland’ featuring the vocals of Years & Years star Olly Alexander, and latest track ‘Burning The Heather’ with guitars from Suede’s Bernard Butle.
On teaming up with Olly, Pet Shop Boys said: “It’s so exciting that our new single is a collaboration with Years & Years, one of the most original and successful bands to emerge this decade, and we really enjoyed writing and recording it with Olly Alexander.”
The pair previously worked with Stuart on their last record and 2014’s ‘Electric’, both of which made it into the top three.
Neil and Chris first met in 1981 and went on to have 22 Top 10 singles and 13 Top 10 studio albums.
Their biggest hits include, ‘Vocal’, ‘Sodom & Gomorrah’, ‘It’s A Sin’, ‘Left To My Own Devices’, ‘Domino Dancing’ and ‘Always On My Mind’.
In 2017, Pet Shop Boys received the Godlike Genius gong at the NME Awards.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Libertines are working with The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett on their long-awaited new album.
The ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’ rockers’ follow-up to 2015 LP ‘Anthems for Doomed Youth’ is set to see the indie band step “out of the zone” after their sessions with the ‘Firestarter’ hitmaker and record producer.
Appearing on the latest episode of ‘Red Stripe Presents: This Feeling TV’, the band’s co-frontman and songwriter, Carl Barat said: “You can’t hurry it up but yeah, it’s [the album is] coming.
“We’ve being doing some really interesting stuff, working with Liam [Howlett] from The Prodigy, which on some tracks are out of the zone of the stuff we’ve done before.
“I think we’re taking a different approach where we just go in and everyone just does what they’re feeling in whatever style. We don’t limit ourselves.”
It was previously revealed that The Prodigy’s touring guitarist Olly Burden is also involved.
Carl also revealed that he’s working on his own solo project, too, which will see him work with some of his musical “heroes”, but he promised The Libertines record will be released first.
He told the show’s co-hosts Gordon Smart and Laura Whitmore: “I’m writing a record.
“I’m actually doing some sessions with people who have inspired me over the years.
“I’ve never really written with people I know and respect but I’ve been working with a few heroes.
“I’ve just been going around bothering people who I really admire.
“But yeah, that’s really inspiring for me.
“So the solo record is definitely very different and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Pressed for a release date, he replied: “It will be after The Libertines. Or maybe before! We’ll see.”
Carl’s bandmate Pete Doherty recently revealed they’ve channelled their inner Beastie Boys and Derek B in the studio.
Speaking about their hip-hop-inspired session, 40-year-old musician said: “Carl [Barat] turned up and said: ‘Right, I’ve got this drum beat, it’s a bit like the Beastie Boys.
“Me and you are going to go in the booth and we’re just going to spit some bars, Pete.”
Indie star Pete has been a long-time fan of late British star Derek – the first rapper to appear on ‘Top of the Pops’ – and his only record ‘Bullet From a Gun’, which he played on repeat when it was released in 1988, when he was just a boy.
And it paid off, as the Babyshambles star amazed Carl with his impressive flow.
He continued: “So when I was eight I had this Derek B record, ‘Bullet For A Gun’, that I listened to over and over again and no one knows these rhymes and I got them all up there.
“So I went in and I was coming out with all these amazing lines, everyone was going: ‘Wow, what’s that?’
“I was like: ‘I don’t know, they just came out.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Trent Reznor marked his first Country Music Association Awards win by posting Photoshopped pictures of him and collaborator Atticus Ross in cowboy attire.
The Nine Inch Nails star was honoured alongside Atticus, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus for his banjo sample contribution to viral country trap hit ‘Old Town Road’, which scooped Musical Event of the Year at the ceremony on Wednesday (13.11.19).
Trent and Atticus provided the sample from the band’s 2008 track ’34 Ghosts IV’.
Under the adapted image, Trent quipped: “New world, new times…”
He also shared the actual snap of the pair on the red carpet, with Trent rocking a cowboy hat, and added: “Thank you #cmaawards (sic)”
The industrial rocker previously opened up about how it can feel “awkward” giving up your work to other artists and how it can make you feel “violated”, but he insisted he found it “very flattering”.
He said: “At first when you hear your stuff turned into something else, it always feels awkward because it’s something that intimately came from you in some way.
“You feel a little bit violated, you know? And then you get over that and you realise it’s become something else and the [2002] Johnny Cash [cover of ‘Hurt’] is incredible. It’s very flattering.”
The ‘Mr. Self Destruct’ rocker adds his CMA trophy to a host of other accolades, including his Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Score on the David Fincher film ‘The Social Network’.
Trent previously admitted he considered disbanding Nine Inch Nails after winning the Academy Award.
The ‘Terrible Lie’ hitmaker said: “There’s nowhere to go but down from there, right? And you start to wonder – should it be ‘F**k rock and roll!’
“I’ve got a new lease on life that doesn’t have quite the age limit restrictions that playing in a rock band does? Should I put all my eggs in that basket?
“Because one thing about us is, as great as winning an Oscar is, the next day by lunchtime, we were back to being the same not-good-enough assholes that we were before we’d won one.
“It felt good for maybe 18 hours. It was a great experience and I have a lot of respect for the institution, but it didn’t fix everything that’s wrong with our brains, and our inadequacies remained.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelle Bryan says Eternal had to be “protected” from passionate Take That fans.
The 44-year-old singer – who was part of the girl group with Louise Redknapp and sisters Easther and Vernie Bennett – admitted the ‘I Wanna Be The Only One’ hitmakers couldn’t be spotted out and about the the boy band without receiving abuse from their fans.
She said: “That’s why we were so protected. If you were even seen standing next to one of the boys you’d be in trouble.
“The fans would be so vicious! They’d send you hate mail and all sorts. It was lethal!”
Kelle was asked if Eternal would ever play pranks on Take That – which at the time featured Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Mark Owen – but the overly jealous fans meant being “too friendly” was dangerous.
She added to new! magazine: “We’d have to be careful in that respect because Take That fans were militant. We had to careful not to be too friendly with the boys. You didn’t mess with their fans – they were deadly!”
Meanwhile, Kelle also claims she was bullied out of the 1990s hit girl group before she as sacked in 1998.
She explained: “It was a difficult time, I kept my head down and just tried to get through it. Being bullied meant I was unhappy and isolated for a lot of it.”
However, the ‘Loose Women’ panellist was able to discover what went wrong when she reunited with the sisters for ‘The Big Reunion’ in 2014.
She added: “The point of ‘The Big Reunion’ was to find out why I was sacked in 1998 and why I was treated in the way that I was. It was good because we got to iron all that out and put it all to bed.”

OHMYGOSSIP — JLS are ready to reunite.
The ‘Beat Again’ hitmakers – who shot to fame after coming second on ‘The X Factor’ in 2008 – are in talks to go out on the road for a tour of both their classic hits after Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold, J.B. Gill and Oritse Williams decided the time was “finally right” to end their six-year break.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The time is finally right for a ­comeback, now that everyone has had the chance to do try out other things and fulfil some ­personal goals.
“They have stayed really good mates and always loved being on stage together. Now feels like the right time.
“They have the best memories from their JLS days and are champing at the bit to give ­something back to their fans.”
And if the tour proves to be successful, the band may decide to make their reunion permanent and record some new material.
The insider added: “But it if it really takes off for them it could fully relaunch the band.”
Since going their separate ways, both Aston – who competed on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and Oritse have released solo material, while Marvin has carved out a successful presenting career on TV and radio, and J.B. has fronted children’s programmes for the BBC based on his own work as a farmer.
The news comes just a few weeks after Aston claimed there was no plans for a reunion between the ‘Everybody in Love’ hitmakers.
Asked if they plan to reunite, he said: “We’re getting on a bit now! There are no plans for it, but as soon as that conversation happens – if it ever does – then our fans will be first to know.”
But the quartet are still in regular contact.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne and Marilyn Manson are to go on tour together.
The 70-year-old rocker – who is nicknamed the Prince of Darkness – has invited the ‘Dope Show’ hitmaker to join him on the road for his rescheduled ‘No More Tours 2’ dates in North America in 2020.
Ozzy said: “Marilyn is killer live.
“He’s so f***ing out there, and if I think that, then look out, we’re all f***ed.”
The 50-year-old star feels “honoured” to have been asked on tour with Ozzy again, and warned fans the run of shows should not be missed.
He said: “I’ve toured with Ozzy many times and it’s always been f***ing spectacular.
“I’m honoured to do it again. This is one not to miss.”
Ozzy was forced to reschedule the tour after being hospitalised with pneumonia and then suffering a fall in January, which caused the metal rods in his body – which were inserted after a devastating quad bike accident in 2003 – to become dislodged.
The ‘Paranoid’ hitmaker will kick off his rescheduled dates on May 27th in Atlanta, and he will conclude at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on July 31st.
Earlier this week, Ozzy – who recently announced his first solo album in almost a decade, ‘Ordinary Man’ – thanked fans for their patience.
He said in a statement: “I can’t wait to get off my ass and get going again, but you’re just going to have to be a bit more patient. I want to be 100 per cent ready to come out and knock your f***ing socks off. I’m not retiring, I’ve still got gigs to do and also there’s a new album on the way.
“To the fans, I sincerely thank you for your patience, your loyalty, I love you.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Killers’ new album will be called ‘Imploding The Mirage’.
The American rock band – fronted by Brandon Flowers – will release their sixth studio LP in Spring 2020, their first record since 2017’s ‘Wonderful Wonderful’.
The ‘Mr. Brightside’ hitmakers have also announced details of a huge stadium tour for next summer, their biggest ever concerts in the UK and Ireland.
The Killers – who headlined Glastonbury this year – will be joined on the tour by a host of very special guests, including indie legends Manic Street Preachers, Sam Fender and Blossoms.
Last month, the band gave fans a teaser of their new LP by sharing a list of potential track names, including the titles ‘Blowback’, ‘Party People’, ‘When Dreams Run Dry’, ‘Dying Breed’, ‘Caution’ and ‘Man + Woman’.
At the start of 2019, the group did unveil new song ‘Land Of The Free’, an anti-Trump anthem which deals with the US President’s plan for a US-Mexican border wall, gun violence in America and incarceration
Brandon, 38, had felt compelled to pen the track after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut in 2012, and those that followed in his hometown of Las Vegas, Orlando and Parkland.
The Killers have recorded the majority of their new album in Utah and Brandon admits the fresh songs are synthesiser-heavy.
He said: “We’ve been in Utah doing it. That’s where I fell in love with music for the first time; so it’s interesting to be there again and hear some of that music with the geography matching the sensation.
“Some of that stuff is starting to resurface and a lot of that had to do with synthesiser music. It’s always been part of our DNA but it’s definitely creeping up.”
Tickets for The Killers stadium tour go on general sale from 9am on Friday November 22 but fans who pre-order ‘Imploding The Mirage’ can gain early access to tickets. Pre-order links are available via the band’s social media accounts and official website.

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher would be “devastated” if he didn’t have any younger fans.
The former Oasis rocker released his second solo album ‘Why Me? Why Not.’ – the follow-up to his 2017 chart topping debut ‘As You Were’ – in September, and he insisted appealing to new generations is the only way to make sure his music “lives on”.
Asked how he’d feel without young fans, he told Paste magazine: “I’d be devastated. What’s the point? You make music to live forever. You make music to go round and round in cycles.
“If it stops at one generation, then it obviously wasn’t that good, was it? The music only lives on through generations.
“If it’s only one generation that likes it, that will die at some point, so therefore your music dies with them, so f***ing too right, man!”
The 47-year-old Britpop legend’s UK arena tour in support of his new record kicked off this week, and despite being billed as a solo project he thinks the live band are a huge part of what he does.
He explained: “I’m not thinking [about] it as a solo thing. I know it’s my name that’s above the door and that, but when I get on stage, I’m surrounded by the band.
“The gigs I’ve been doing in England, they’re like Oasis gigs. People are losing their s**t and kicking the f**k out of each other, a bit of violence down in front. “People are getting moved, so I don’t feel like it’s any different than being in Oasis except for that Noel’s not there.”
However, he did compare a band’s frontman to the striker in a soccer team, insisting his role is to really land with the right delivery to back up the spirit of the music.
He said: “Well, you need a good rock ‘n’ roll singer to put it in the back of the net. I’d say guitars, melody, lyrics with a bit of bite. You need the singer to spit it out. “You don’t want to hear a rock ‘n’ roll song politely sung. I think that’s the problem that a lot of these singers have got today. None of them can spit it out.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Graham Coxon has teased that there will be new music coming from Blur in the future.
The 50-year-old guitarist quit the band in 2002 with his departure ultimately leading to the rest of the group, Damon Albarn, Alex James and Dave Rowntree, disbanding, however, they reunited in 2009 for a host concerts and they went on to record and release eighth studio album ‘The Magic Whip’ in 2015.
Since touring their last LP Blur have been on hiatus, but Graham has cryptically claimed that fans of the Britpop band should “stick around” to see what is coming.
When asked about Blur’s future plans, Graham said: “Well, we are reunited. Will Blur be productive anytime soon? Stick around. You never know.”
Graham’s latest project has been to provide the soundtrack to dark-comedy series ‘The End of the F***ing World’ – which airs on Channel 4 and Netflix – and he admits he loves the challenge of creating music to fit with the scenes shown on screen.
The ‘Parklife’ hitmaker forced himself to write in a different way to create the music, working “nine to five” days.
He explained: “The soundtrack work has forced me into a routine of working nine to five, whether I feel like it or not, whether I feel inspired or not. I’ve learned that if you just do it, good things come. “It has improved me as a musician and a songwriter. Deadlines have made me work faster, so now I am able to work fast more naturally. I found I like working to a brief. It’s like the difference between joining the dots and being presented with with a blank piece of paper. It’s a lot of fun.”
Graham admits since he started working on the soundtrack for the two seasons of ‘The End of the F***ing World’ – which is based on a graphic novel of the same name by Charles Forsman – he has not been writing any new solo songs.
The musician – whose last solo LP, ‘A+E’, came out in 2012 – said: “I haven’t really recorded what I would call solo material since I’ve been doing soundtrack work.”
Graham has previously spoken about the possibility of there being another Blur album, insisting it will happen when the time is right.
He said: “I really don’t see why not and why there can’t be another Blur album. We’re all still alive and in reasonable control of our faculties. It’s just the time when that notion comes upon us all and the stars align and we go, ‘Yeah, why not?’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — KISS have cancelled their Australian tour after Paul Stanley fell ill.
The ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’ hitmakers were hoping to continue with their tour Down Under, despite having cancelled New Zealand and rescheduled the Perth show after Paul suffered a bad case of influenza, but now have taken the difficult decision to cancel the full set of shows whilst he recovers.
Paul said: “Words cannot begin to convey our massive disappointment in having to cancel our End Of The Road tour of your incredible country. Our connection to you is unparalleled and decades deep. We waited as long as we could and held out hope to the last minute that my situation would clear up and we would be able to march forward. Doctor’s orders ultimately have taken precedence and finally we now find ourselves with no choice but to surrender. With heavy hearts, KISS.”
It was hoped that the initial tour changes would allow for Paul to rest for a few extra days so the shows could go on as planned but he has now been struck down with an additional throat infection, which will mean at least two weeks more of vocal rest and medication to get better again.
Promoters One World Entertainment and TEG Live said: “We are devastated with the cancellation of the Australian tour. We’ve been in constant contact with the band in the past few days hoping for a positive outcome. We know how much fans were looking forward to the tour. We send our best wishes to Paul for a speedy recovery.”
The band confirmed that refunds will be made to ticketholders.
They said in their statement: “Tickets purchased by credit or debit card will be refunded in full (including ticket insurance premium, if relevant) and patrons do not need to take any action. Patrons should allow up to 10 working days for the refund to appear in their account.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Melody Thornton has released a new single titled ‘Love Will Return’.
The former Pussycat Doll released her latest single on Friday (15.11.19), which comes as her first solo music since 2015, when she released non-album tracks ‘Goodbye’ and ‘Serial Killer’, which both collaborations with Bobby Newberry.
‘Love Will Return’ – which comes after Melody featured on Harrison track ‘Freak Like Me’ in October – is inspired by Melody’s ancestral roots in Phoenix, Arizona, and brings together her Mexican and African-American heritage for a track which mixes classic southern Americana soul and R&B.
The track features grand horns, layered harmonies and tribal woodwind, which reflect the late 60s and early 70s eras of music.
Speaking about the song, Melody said in a statement: “I was standing in my kitchen, looking out the window at a scenic view of the hills in LA and started humming a Melody I’d never heard. I started to add lyrics and in 20 minutes I had the song ‘Love Will Return’ mapped out. It was my favourite song that only existed in my head. 
”The entire evolution of the song was magic. I didn’t have to explain what I envisioned to the producer too much when I finally decided to record it. He felt it himself and delivered an incredible finished product. There’s just something spiritual about it. It moves me in a way like no other song I’ve written before. I can’t explain it. I don’t mean that in an arrogant way. The songs are like my babies and ‘Love Will Return’ is my Kim Kardashian.”
Melody, 35, is planning to release a wider breadth of work in early 2020, and ‘Love Will Return’ is the first taste of the upcoming project.
Whilst no details are available on her new material as of the time of writing, it’s believed the singer will be incorporating an exciting new edge of pop, blues and R&B into her sound.

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish’s new song ‘Everything I Wanted’ is “very satisfying”.
The 17-year-old singer released the new track earlier this week, and has said she’s so pleased with how the record turned out because the song has “so many meanings”, with every lyric having a “specific instance” that it was written about.
And Billie has plans to write down what every lyric in the song means to her, although she may not let anyone see it.
She said: “It feels very satisfying. Very satisfying. And also the song has so many meanings. Every lyric in that song has a very specific meaning and specific instance that it was written about. I just want to just sit down and write what every single line means just for myself, even if it’s never shared with anybody.”
The song was recorded with the help of her brother Finneas – who is also a musician and producer, and who frequently collaborates with Billie – and was put together over the course of several days in various locations.
She added: “[Finneas and I] recorded the bridge of the song in Berlin. And then we wrote the other bridge or whatever you want to call it in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And then we recorded the whole rest of the song in one day. It feels like it was a long process. But for some reason right now it feels so fast to me. Even though we wrote the first verse a year ago, over a year ago, because it all just happened and now it’s out. You know what I mean?”
And Billie even recorded one of the lines under water.
Speaking about a line in the song which mentions water, she said: “I mean, we couldn’t not do that. Are you kidding? With that fucking line, it was like, you can’t not. We were sitting there like, ‘My head was underwater’, and we were like, ‘Wait, wait. This is our chance.’ ”
Billie’s a fan of her new track, as she says it isn’t about her “s****ing on fame”.
During an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio show ‘New Music Daily’, she said: “But what satisfies me so much about this song is that it’s not me s****ing on fame. It’s me talking about how sometimes everything you wanted is not what you actually should. You know what I mean? It might not be Exactly how you dreamed it because it is a dream.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jimmy Eat World found it “kind of easy” to open up on their new album.
The alt rockers latest record ‘Surviving’ – which addresses frontman Jim Adkins’ decision to ditch alcohol seven years ago – has been described by the band as their most personal to date, but the 43-year-old musician didn’t find it difficult to bare his soul in the songs.
He told Music Feeds: “It wasn’t harder. I feel like it was kind of easy. It was easy because I discovered that when you do confront these things, it gives you momentum to confront other things and retrain the way of thinking so that you kind of look forward to discovery.
“That’s all that song writing is. Digging around the discovery process.”
The group’s 10th album focuses on a theme of “acceptance the craziness” of finding it “too scary” to confront your problems.
Jim explained: “The simple fear of the unknown is enough to keep you away from doing something that might get you away from the negative feelings. It’s just fascinating to me because it’s really hard.
“I guess when I quit drinking, that’s what illustrated it clearly to me. When you’re on the other side of that and looking up at it, it’s just really difficult. It doesn’t matter what anyone tells you.
“It could be drinking or addiction or any sort of difficult decision, people tell you whatever about how it’s not that hard and no big deal. You just can’t let it go.”
For their latest collection, ‘The Middle’ band – completed by Zach Lind, Tom Linton and Rick Burch – were particularly inspired by an idea from writer William Faulkner.
Jim said: “There’s a creative metaphor that William Faulkner wrote, the idea of ‘kill your darlings’ where you’re trying so hard to make things work when really, it’s that exact thing that you should get rid of.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John refuses to play ‘Candle in the Wind’ in front of Prince William and Prince Harry.
The 72-year-old star and his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin updated the 1973 tribute song to Marilyn Monroe in 1997 after Princess Diana’s death but Elton admitted that the only time her sons have ever heard him play it live was at the late royal’s funeral.
He told Billboard: “I would have preferred not to have made the record and for her to still be alive, but it was what it was. It raised 37 million pounds for her foundation because Bernie and I gave up [our] writing credits. We sold 60,000 in India in one day, and I had never sold a record in India before. It was a memento of grief and love for her. I didn’t play that song for a couple of years on the road because it was too close to home. Other than at Princess Diana’s funeral, I’ve never, ever played it in front of Prince William or Prince Harry. Even the Marilyn Monroe version, I wouldn’t play it in front of them.”
Elton also revealed that he has been surprised many times in his career by the success of his music.
He explained: “‘Bennie and the Jets’ and ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’, I couldn’t see them as singles. I wanted ‘Candle [in the Wind]’ to be the third single from ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ and the record company was trying to persuade me for so long [to put out ‘Bennie’]. Finally, they said, ‘What if we were to tell you it was a No. 1 R&B record in Detroit?’ I went, ‘Are you kidding me? I’m on black radio. Put it out.’
“I liked ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’, but I didn’t see it as a single ever. [On] AM radio, you had two minutes, 30 seconds, maybe two minutes, 45 seconds. And I think what we did with ‘Philadelphia Freedom’ and ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me’, we put out 6-minute records and radio played them and a lot of them didn’t edit it. I think that was a big turning point for radio. I was surprised ‘Don’t Let the Sun’ [was] a No. 1 record because it was so long and it was so slow. I think we changed AM radio and making long singles possible.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson was suicidal following his “soul-destroying” departure from the band.
The musician took a three-week break from touring commitments in 2006 and was then permanently replaced by Nick O’Malley and he admitted the following three years led him down a “dark” path but he eventually came out the other side.
He said: “I was very close to not being here, do you know what I mean?
“And then managing to talk to people, and getting through it… time heals everything.
“I do remember watching them headline Glastonbury [2007] on television, and I was just sat at home on my own… just watching it. Just crying watching them headline. Can you imagine what that’s like?”
Andy – who now records under the name Goldteeth – recalled how stunned he was when fellow founder members Alex Turner, Matt Helders, and Jamie Cook told him he was out of the band and admitted he still has no idea why.
Speaking on podcast ‘The Michael Anthony Show’, he recalled: “It was probably one of the few soul-destroying moments of my life.
“I remember being in that room once they said [he’d been replaced] and I remember thinking, ‘Just try and be solid about this’.
“I remember I shook all three of their hands and said, ‘Good luck’.
“I still to this day don’t really know the full reason of what happened to me or why it happened.”
Despite going through such a dark period, the bassist confirmed he’s back on good terms with the ‘Crying Lightning’ hitmakers.
He said: “They were at my wedding and I speak to them as much as I can. Time healed a lot of wounds.”
