OHMYGOSSIP — Ella Henderson has announced her second album, ‘Everything I Didn’t Say’.
The 25-year-old pop star is back with the new single, ‘Brave’, taken from her long-awaited follow-up to 2014’s chart-topping ‘Chapter One’ LP, which will follow on March 11.
The ‘Let’s Go Home Together’ hitmaker explained that the seven-year gap between albums is due to wanting to take her time to “follow my heart and vision”.
Ella said in a statement: “I’m so excited to finally share the news that my second album ‘Everything I Didn’t Say’ is coming in March!
“I know it’s been a long time coming but I wanted to take the time to really follow my heart and vision, to create something that fully represented me, who I am today and what I stand for.
“I am so ready to finally share this body of work! It’s all here… the good, the bad, the ugly! This record means absolutely everything to me.”
The album includes ‘Let’s Go Home Together’ with Tom Grennan and the new single, ‘Brave’, about “shaking the stigma of needing help and embracing someone’s support for you when you need them most.”
A press release adds that the vulnerable collection “traces feelings of heartbreak, love and self-worth.”
Ella was signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco after finishing as a runner-up on ‘The X Factor’ in 2012, but despite seeing her debut album, ‘Chapter One’, go platinum she was let go from her recording contract in February 2018.
The ‘Ghost’ hitmaker has since re-signed with Atlantic and Rudimental’s subsidiary Major Toms.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dead & Company have cancelled their Playing In The Sand festival.
After drummer Bill Kreutzmann was forced to sit out the planned gigs in Mexico’s Riviera Cancún on doctor’s orders relating to a heart condition, days later, John Mayer had to do the same after he tested positive for COVID-19.
The event was due to kick off on Friday (07.01.22) to January 10, and again, from January 13 until January 16.
And now, the supergroup have decided to pull the plug at the last minute, due to “spiking COVID-19 cases”.
The band insisted they “tried everything possible” to make the show go on, but it was ultimately decided that they could not continue as they felt they would be putting their fans and crew at risk of contracting the virus.
A statement issued to their social media pages read: “With much sadness and after great consideration of every possible scenario, the Playing in the Sand shows in Riviera Cancun on January 7-10 and January 13-16 have now been canceled by CID Presents due to the spiking COVID-19 cases.
“Dead & Company and CID Presents tried everything possible to bring normalcy and to deliver a great experience and amazing music, but with each day it became increasingly clear that canceling is the correct thing to do for the fans and for our crew.
“Please refer to the Playing in the Sand email that will be sent shortly with all details about refunds. See you soon, hug your loved ones, stay safe and be kind. (sic)”
In a previous statement regarding John, Dead & Company wrote: “Today, just prior to leaving for Mexico, per his physician, @JohnMayer tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unable to perform at the upcoming ‘Playing in the Sand’ event in Riviera Cancun January 7-10.”
The supergroup – also comprising Bill’s fellow surviving Grateful Dead band members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, plus Jeff Chimenti and Oteil Burbridge – had announced ex-Primus drummer Jay Lane, would step in for the sticksman.
Making light of the situation, Bill had joked on Twitter: “After a lifetime of playing special beats, it’s almost no wonder that my heart came up with its own idea of rhythm.”
The 75-year-old musician vowed to return to the stage and insisted he has “a lot of music left in me” yet.
He continued in the statement: “All jokes aside, my doctor has ordered me to take it easy (and stay safe) through the end of January so that I can continue to drum and play for you for many tours to come. I have a lot of music left in me and there’s no stopping me from playing it.
“I’ve never been one to obey orders or play by the rules, but in the interest of longevity, I hope you’ll understand.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne’s new album will feature “the most” collaborations she’s ever had.
The ‘With You’ hitmaker will release her new record next month and told fans the coronavirus pandemic worked in her favour because so many musicians were stuck in Los Angeles and so it was easier to get them into the recording studio without having so many commitments to coordinate.
She said: “I have a bunch of different features on the record, the most I have had before, as everyone was in town.”
The 37-year-old singer described the as-yet untitled album as a “love letter to women and self-empowerment”.
She added during an Instagram Live: “The spirit and the energy of this record is so much fun.”
The album will be released through Travis Barker’s DTA records and Avril recently praised the Blink-182 rocker for being a “blast” to work with.
She said: “Well, it all started with Blink 182 being one of my favourite bands.
“And I have admired Travis my entire career.
“We worked together on ‘The Best Damn Thing’ on that album and he played drums.
“And then on this, Travis is producing, we’re writing together and we just had such a blast collaborating in the studio.
“Now, I’m signed to DTA Records, which is his label, and it just felt like a natural fit it and it made sense.
“And I think creatively, we just click, he gets me. Working with Travis, you’re totally right.
“Where he’s like, ‘Well, what do you want?’ And he’s like, ‘Here’s my opinion. Here’s what I think.’ But ultimately he’s like, ‘I want it to be your decision. I want you to be happy with it.’
“Because he gets it because he’s an artist. He’ll like to sit around, chat with me, give me his opinion and feedback.
But ultimately of course I’m going to listen to him, but he’s like, ‘Make the decision for yourself.’ So yeah, it’s been cool.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Lambert has praised Lil Nas X for “pushing it” when it comes to sexuality and gender evolving.
The 39-year-old singer – who is openly gay – believes the 22-year-old singer is a “proper pop star” and he loves how he isn’t afraid to “get in people’s faces” when it comes to fighting for what he believes in, but he admits there is still “a lot of work to be done”.
When asked how he feels about the way sexuality and gender are evolving in 2022, Adam said: “Mine’s evolving lovely. I’m so happy we’re moving the needle.
“There’s a lot of work to be done, but someone like Lil Nas, he’s a proper pop star at this point, lots of hits, streams eyes on him.
“Not only that, but he’s pushing it. He’s not afraid of controversy, to get in people’s faces, challenge people.
“He’s on Twitter, clapping back. It’s brilliant, funny, irreverent, confident.
“And he’s, what, 23 [sic]?!”
Adam admires Nas so much he was recently starstruck when he met him at a house party, and he felt the same when he came face-to-face with Dua Lipa.
He added to Attitude magazine: “When was I last starstruck? I recently met Dua Lipa – that was cute! She’s super down-to-earth.
“I love people who are on the rise but are very kind.
“I met Lil Nas X at a house party last month – so sweet. I went up to him.
“I was like, ‘This is a who’s who…’ But it felt normal.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd plans to release a new album on Friday (07.01.22).
The 31-year-old star has taken to social media to tease details of ‘Dawn FM’, revealing that the upcoming album will feature comedian Jim Carrey.
In the Twitter post, a voice says: “You are now listening to 103.5: Dawn FM. You’ve been in the dark for way too long, it’s time to walk into the light and accept your fate with open arms.”
During the video clip, the upcoming album is billed as a “new sonic universe from the mind of The Weeknd”.
The acclaimed star – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – has also worked with the likes of Quincy Jones, Tyler, the Creator and Lil Wayne on the record.
Jim, 59, has already listened to the album and he’s “thrilled” to be involved with the project.
He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “I listened to Dawn FM with my good friend Abel @theweeknd last night. It was deep and elegant and it danced me around the room. I’m thrilled to play a part in his symphony. (sic)”
The Weeknd previously revealed that he and Jim became friends around the time of his 30th birthday.
Asked whether the pandemic ruined his celebrations, he replied: “My birthday was right before. The party wasn’t big. It was a little venue. Super grungy. Really good. It’s a place on the Eastside, lit-up floors. I was DJ’ing with friends. There were like a hundred people.
“We had fun, and we were sloppy. I think I hugged every single person in that building. It was a great moment. And I met Jim Carrey.”
He subsequently explained that he only lived “two buildings down” from the Hollywood star.
The singer – whose last album, ‘After Hours’, was released in March 2020 – shared: “He lived literally like two buildings down from me.
“He had a telescope, and I had a telescope. He was like, ‘Where do you live? What floor do you live on?’ I was like, Blah, blah, blah. And we looked out the windows on our telescopes and we could see each other.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West is working on a direct follow-up to ‘DONDA’.
The ‘Stronger’ hitmaker only released his 10th studio album a few months ago, but he’s said to be back in the studio crafting his new “masterpiece”, which is to serve as a sequel to his recent release, which was named in honour of his late mother.
Steven Victor, who worked with Kanye as COO of his label Good Music, told Complex in an email: “Ye has started working on his new masterpiece ‘DONDA 2′.”
The executive’s message came a few days after footage emerged of Kanye in the studio with fellow rapper Scarface, and he’s also previously believed to have been working with Post Malone and Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold.
Video footage shared by DJ Akademiks in September showed the 44-year-old rapper and the ‘Circles’ hitmaker together, with Post singing Fleet Foxes’ ‘The Shrine/ An Argument’.
Over on his Instagram Story, Robin also shared a selfie with ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’ star Post.
The latter has made no secret of his love of Fleet Foxes.
In 2015, he tweeted: “if you don’t like flee foxes then f*** you … fleet foxes is the only group that i love every single song of.(sic)””
What’s more, Robin revealed he very nearly appeared on their 2020 LP ‘Shore’
Speaking about Post, he said: “He came by the studio for one day while we were working in LA and listened to stuff and was super supportive. We didn’t get together in time because I wanted to get the album out quickly, but I did ask him to be on it. He was down but we just didn’t end up having time.
“He’s a super sweet guy, he’s a real gentleman, and he’s probably the best melody writer in the business right now. I think. And by some glitch in the Matrix we have a casual friendship.”
Kanye and Post previously paired up on the former’s track ‘Fade’ from 2016’s ‘The Life Of Pablo’, along with Ty Dolla $ign.

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Combs is putting the “finishing touches” to his third album.
The country singer completed his ‘What You See Is What You Get’ tour last month and he is now enjoying some time off, before he drops his next record.
He said: “This tour finally closes the long strange chapter of my last album. I’m taking a few weeks off and then we’re putting the finishing touches on LC3. (sic)”
Luke also thanked his fans for coming to see him on his recent tour, which he described as being the “funnest, scariest, most rewarding, most stressful musical experience” of his life.
He wrote on Instagram: “Well, we made it. The “What You See Is What You Get” tour is finally completed after 2+ years of setbacks. This was the funnest, scariest, most rewarding, most stressful musical experience of my life and I’d do it all over again tomorrow.
“Firstly I’d like to thank every single fan who spent their hard earned money, waited all this time, through all the b*******, who still came out and filled those seats up every night. You are the reason we get to do things like this and I hope we came close to putting on the show you deserve.
“Secondly, my team. Band, Crew, management, agents, bus drivers, truck drivers, venue staff, catering, local stage crew, label folks, and sponsors. You know who you are if you’re reading this, thank you. I know how hard each of you worked and how much you all sacrificed to make these shows happen every night and that is something I will never forget.

In November, Luke scooped the prestigious Entertainer of the Year accolade at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards for the first time.

“I have never written a speech for something like this, which is not serving me very well right now … I don’t deserve to win it, but I’m sure as hell glad that I did.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Lee Roth’s farewell Vegas residency has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
The former Van Halen frontman had announced he was retiring following the solo run at the legendary House Of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Sin City, which was due to kick off on New Year’s Eve (31.12.21).
However, the first two gigs were called off, with the following statement issued to the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “Due to unforeseen circumstances related to COVID and out of an abundance of caution for those working and attending the shows, the David Lee Roth performances schedule for Dec. 31, 2021 and Jan. 1, 2022 have been cancelled. Refunds will be automatically processed, and ticketholders will be notified directly.”
And now, the remaining dates between January 7 and January 22, have also been axed owing to the pandemic and the “alarming” spread of the Omicron variant of the virus in Nevada.
David had told the publication in October: “I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring.
“This is the first, and only, official announcement. You’ve got the news. Share it with the world.
“I’m not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows.”
The 67-year-old rocker appeared to suggest the death of his former bandmate, Eddie Van Halen – who passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer in October 2020 at the age of 65 – had made him realise just how short life is.
He said: “I am encouraged and compelled to really come to grips with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter.”
The rock legend was a member of the classic lineup of the ‘Jump’ hitmakers, along with bassist Michael Anthony, 67, drummer Alex Van Halen, 68, and late guitarist Eddie.
The musician’s first stint in the hard rock group lasted between 1974 and 1985, before returning in 1996, and, again, in 2006 up until their dissolution following the passing of Eddie.
In 2007, David was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside his bandmates.
He featured on seven of their studio albums, the most recent being 2012’s ‘A Different Kind of Truth’.
Away from Halen, David has had a glittering solo career from the get-go, with his 1986 critically-acclaimed debut solo album, ‘Eat ‘Em and Smile’, reaching the top five of the Billboard Top 200, selling over two million copies in the US alone.
He released his final album, ‘Diamond Dave’, in 2003.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Ronnie James Dio documentary is set to be released this year.
It was announced in 2020 that a tell-all documentary about the late heavy metal icon was in the works with Don Argott and Damian Fenton at the helm.
The seminal artist’s widow Wendy said at the time: “I am very excited to be working with BMG on Ronnie’s long-awaited documentary. Ronnie loved his fans and I hope they will enjoy this trip through Ronnie’s life.”
The film will include “never-before-seen archival footage and photos from his personal archives, plus “scenes with his closest peers, friends and family.”
And appearing on ‘The Lucas H. Gordon Show’ on YouTube recently, Wendy teased that “the first cut” of the film was an “emotional” watch as she confirmed the release date and guest speakers.
She said: “[It] goes all the way through his life till the end.
“I was watching it with my publicist and a person from BMG, who are funding the documentary, and we all cried.”
Wendy revealed that Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, Tenacious D rocker and Hollywood actor Jack Black, and Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler are among those interviewed in the documentary.
The film also references Dio’s unfinished autobiography, ‘Rainbow in the Dark’, which was posthumously released in July 2021.
Dio had been working on his memoir – which is the same name as Dio’s single from their platinum-selling 1983 debut album, ‘Holy Diver’- before he died from stomach cancer aged 67 in 2010.
He collaborated with late British author and music journalist, Mick Wall, on the Permuted Press book, but after the latter’s death, their estates joined forces to complete the pages to the best of their knowledge.
‘Rainbow in the Dark’ gives fans an inside look at Dio’s five decades in the music business as the bandleader of bands Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell.
A press release stated that the book documents “coming-of-age tales, glorious stories of excess, and candid recollections of what really happened backstage, at the hotel, in the studio, and back home behind closed doors far away from the road.”

The 28-year-old Brazilian singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress has landed a new partnership with the major label’s publishing arm to continue bringing her music to a global audience, after her major US breakthrough in 2021 with ‘Girl From Rio’.
The ‘Me Gusta’ star – who has already collaborated with the likes of Cardi B and Saweetie – said: “I’m excited to join the Sony Music Publishing family. I can’t wait to continue sharing my music on a global scale and I look forward to what this new partnership will bring!”

Meanwhile, in other Grateful Dead-related news, in November it was announced that Jonah Hill will play Jerry Garcia in Martin Scorsese’s biopic about the legendary rock band.
The 38-year-old actor has been tapped to play the late rocker in Scorsese’s new project for Apple.
Jonah is set to produce the flick through his Strong Baby banner with his producing partner Matt Dines.
Grateful Dead members – including Bill – will executive produce with Jerry’s daughter Trixie Garcia, Eric Eisner and Bernie Cahill.
Insiders have said that with the band and their management participating in the movie, Apple will have the rights to use the group’s musical catalogue in the project.
Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are writing the script after previously working on the acclaimed ‘American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson’, while Scorsese is also set to produce.
The story of the group goes back to its formation in California during the 1960s. The band were known for their eclectic style and had a loyal fanbase following them across the United States for decades.
Frontman Jerry passed away in 1995, although surviving members have carried on in various incarnations.
Scorsese has a long track record of producing and directing rock documentaries, including the 2017 Grateful Dead feature ‘Long Strange Trip’ – but this would mark the first time that the legendary filmmaker has travelled down the biopic route for a legendary musical act.

OHMYGOSSIP — Wolf Alice have postponed their upcoming UK tour due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.
The ‘Smile’ band – who had already postponed three shows in Glasgow and two in Dublin – made the decision to delay the run as a whole out of concern for “people’s safety and access to our concerts”.
They said in a statement: “We are absolutely gutted to announce that we have decided to postpone our upcoming tour this January.
“As the Covid pandemic seems to be getting worse and with an overwhelming number of daily cases it feels like a particularly volatile time to go ahead with such a large tour.
“People’s safety and access to our concerts is of the utmost importance to us and we feel that is something we can’t ensure at these large indoor shows. (sic)”
The group – made up of Ellie Rowswell, Theo Ellis, Joff Oddie and Joel Amey – confirmed they are working on rescheduling the 20-date tour with an announcement to follow at a later date.
They continued: “We are already working to get rescheduled dates confirmed ASAP and will be making an announcement in the following weeks, all tickets will remain valid for re-scheduled shows and refunds are available if you are unable to attend the new dates. (sic)”
The quartet apologised to fans for their decision, but added they felt like they were making a “responsible decision”.
They added: “We are sorry to do this but we feel like this is the responsible decision for the current climate of the pandemic.”
Meanwhile, singer Ellie recently called on festivals to do more to make the events gender-balanced as she spoke about the need to diversify.
She said: “Diversity in any industry should be celebrated. You maybe don’t see as many female-fronted bands on the indie circuit.
“Especially when you look at festival lineups. They are definitely not gender-balanced.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran is planning to tour in an electric VW campervan.
The 30-year-old Grammy-winner has been doing his bit for the planet, having recently vowed to “rewild” as much of the UK as he can by buying up land and planting trees to offset his carbon footprint from touring.
And now, the ‘Shivers’ hitmaker has revealed he will go one step further, by driving to each show with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their 17-month-old daughter Lyra in an environmentally-friendly mode of transport.
He said: “I’m talking to VW about an electric campervan.
“I want to travel to every show as electric as possible. The baby is coming with me on tour.
“It was really a slog at the beginning of my career. You would play five shows in a row and have one day off.
“But the luxury of playing these large venues is no one goes mid-week so they have to be at weekends.
“So it’s Friday, Saturday, Sunday every week. We’re going to take time in each city.”
The flame-haired pop star’s first gig on his upcoming ‘Mathematics’ stadium tour is due to take place on April 23 at Croke Park in Dublin, and could go on well past the final gig in Frankfurt, Germany on September 25.
Ed told ‘Sunday TODAY’ host Willie Geist: “I can’t see the tour stopping, I’m going to be going for a while.”
The ‘Love Yourself’ hitmaker recently admitted he expects to receive criticism for his environmental efforts because touring is not sustainable.
The Suffolk-born singer said: “I’m trying to buy as much land as possible and plant as many trees as possible.
“I am trying to rewild as much of the UK as I can. I love my county and I love wildlife and the environment.
“I feel like I am going to get my head bitten off anytime I say that, as my job is not a hugely sustainable job as I go and play in cities, but I am trying my best.”
Ed owns an extensive East Suffolk estate – dubbed Sheeranville – and it is a haven for wildlife.
He added: “I have got a massive beehive. I have this massive wildlife pond with newts in it, salamanders and there’s a grass snake that lives in there and hedgehogs.
“The thing with sustainability and being a public figure is when people support it, suddenly people try and find things to call them out on.”
In 2020, Ed reportedly spent thousands to create a forest there, with the couple planting dozens of trees to help make the property more sustainable.

OHMYGOSSIP — Aaliyah’s posthumous album ‘Unstoppable’ will reportedly be released this month.
The uncle of the late R&B legend – who tragically passed away at the age of 22 in a plane crash in 2001 – is Blackground Records founder Barry Hankerson, and he has teased that the star-studded LP is on the way in January.
The song ‘Poison’ featuring the vocals of The Weeknd is already out.
Barry told ‘The Geno Jones Show’: “One of the songs that’s out now is doing incredibly well. And that’s the song that she did with Weeknd.
“Because of that success, we think it’ll only get better with people such as Ne-Yo and Snoop Dogg, Future, and Drake — one of her biggest fans. Those are the features that’ll be on the record and that’ll be out in January.”
He previously said of ‘Poison’: “I wanted her adoring fans to get a special gift before the holidays and felt it was the perfect time to release a never-before-heard offering. Make sure to add “Poison” to all your favorite Aaliyah playlists and subscribe to Music360 to stay connected. (sic)”
Aaliyah’s records were finally added to streaming services in 2021 after her estate resolved “all the issues in freeing her music” for use on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
In August 2020, they announced they were working to bring her entire back catalogue to streaming services.
They later gave the following update a year ago: “We hear you and we see you. While we share your sentiments and desire to have Aaliyah’s music released, we must acknowledge that these matters are not within our control and, unfortunately, take time. Our inability to share Aaliyah’s music and artistry with the world has been as difficult for us as it has been for all of you. Our priority has always been and will continue to be Aaliyah’s music.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd has announced the ‘103.5 Dawn FM’ livestream experience.
The ‘Take My Breath’ hitmaker has partnered with Amazon Music to put on the special celebration of his upcoming fifth studio album, ‘Dawn FM’.
The performance will be filmed “somewhere in Los Angeles” and kicks off at 5am UK time and midnight EST on Friday (07.01.22), the same day as the LP’s release.
The livestream will air on the Amazon Music Channel on Twitch and the Amazon Music App.
A press release stated: “The power of the 103.5 Dawn FM experience is that maximum fulfillment comes when all who hear it are tuned in at the same time.”
The 31-year-old star took to social media earlier this week to tease details of ‘Dawn FM’, revealing that the upcoming album will feature comedian Jim Carrey.
In the Twitter post, a voice says: “You are now listening to 103.5: Dawn FM. You’ve been in the dark for way too long, it’s time to walk into the light and accept your fate with open arms.”
During the video clip, the upcoming album is billed as a “new sonic universe from the mind of The Weeknd”.
The acclaimed star – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – has also worked with the likes of Quincy Jones, Tyler, the Creator and Lil Wayne on the record.
Jim, 59, has already listened to the album and he’s “thrilled” to be involved with the project.
He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “I listened to Dawn FM with my good friend Abel @theweeknd last night. It was deep and elegant and it danced me around the room. I’m thrilled to play a part in his symphony. (sic)”
The Weeknd previously revealed that he and Jim became friends around the time of his 30th birthday.
Asked whether the pandemic ruined his celebrations, he replied: “My birthday was right before. The party wasn’t big. It was a little venue. Super grungy. Really good. It’s a place on the Eastside, lit-up floors. I was DJ’ing with friends. There were like a hundred people.
“We had fun, and we were sloppy. I think I hugged every single person in that building. It was a great moment. And I met Jim Carrey.”
He subsequently explained that he only lived “two buildings down” from the Hollywood star.
The singer – whose last album, ‘After Hours’, was released in March 2020 – shared: “He lived literally like two buildings down from me.
“He had a telescope, and I had a telescope. He was like, ‘Where do you live? What floor do you live on?’ I was like, Blah, blah, blah. And we looked out the windows on our telescopes and we could see each other.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bastille’s Dan Smith is working on projects in the “film and TV world”.
The 35-year-old singer finally found the time to work on his passion projects with touring off amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
And after co-directing the band’s ‘The Matrix’ and ‘Ex Machina’ inspired ‘No Bad Days’ promo, the ‘Pompeii’ hitmaker has taken on a “bunch of” filmmaking jobs.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “There’s a bunch of stuff I’m working on at the moment which use music but very much step into the film and TV world.
“It’s what I grew up obsessed with.
“I was such a little film geek growing up and it’s a medium I love, so getting to direct a video was really amazing.
“I always wanted to do it but we’ve always been trying to juggle everything.
“It took me having a little more time and space because of there being no touring, for me to be like, ‘I’ve got to do this now. I want to do it now.’
“It was really eye-opening.”
Dan hopes more opportunities will arise in the future.
He added: “I would love to work more in that world and I think we live in a time when people are less boxed in.”
In the meantime, Bastille release their new sci-fi-themed album, ‘Give Me The Future’, on February 4.
Fans can expect a “dancefloor-friendly” collection about the “opportunities of new technology and the dark side of lives lived online.”
Interestingly, the frontman had the concept for the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Doom Days’ before the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, Dan explained: “Working on these songs in such an apocalyptic period, with everyone stuck at home, glued to screens, fed into the feeling that what is real and what is not has become pretty difficult to discern sometimes.
“We’re in the age of deep fake, fake news and lying world leaders. But online, you can be anyone. What that does to our sense of self and to our relationships is huge and it’s fascinating.”
A press release adds that: “The album is laced with references to the world of science fiction film and literature, video games and VR.”
