OHMYGOSSIP — Bring Me The Horizon feel like they’ve “made it” after landing a headline slot and Reading and Leeds.
Frontman Oli Sykes has admitted the ‘DiE4u’ rockers have had to fight their way to the top and prove themselves after being “hated” in the early days, but being headliners at the legendary music festivals – which return this August Bank Holiday weekend (August 26 to August 28) – has provided them with “security” and they feel like “we are a big band” now.
Speaking to Rolling Stone UK – of which he is the cover star – the 35-year-old star said: “I know we’re gonna crush it. We’ll put on a sick, sick show because that’s what we do. It is good to finally be accepted as [a headliner]. It gives you that security of being able to sit back and say: we made it. I could never see that before. I always felt like we were hustling and conning and fighting to stay relevant. It always feels like we’re fighting. I think that’s from us being a hated and controversial band when we first started. It’s always felt like one slip-up and we’re out. Now we’re safe. We are a big band.”
The ‘Mantra’ hitmaker also opened up about his own personal insecurities, which were heightened amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said: “I would never really look at myself. I was very down on myself about everything. So much of my self-worth came from playing gigs and songs going well and when all that went, I questioned my self-worth completely.”
The ‘Shadow Moses’ screamer used to hide all of his awards away because of his low self-worth, but he has since learned to “love” himself and is proud of his rock star status.
Oli added: “It used to make me sick to hear ‘you’ve got to love yourself’ – never. I used to put all my awards in a cupboard, I wouldn’t look at them. If someone asked me what I did, I would never say I was in a band, I’d say I own a clothing company or a restaurant. I just didn’t wanna talk about it. Now I love myself. I can look in the mirror and go ‘You’re doing good’. I can say ‘I’m a rock star, my band’s doing well.’”

OHMYGOSSIP — Professor Green has mocked Boris Johnson on his new single, ‘Dance Like A Tory’.
The 38-year-old rapper – whose real name is Stephen Manderson – has taken aim at the British Prime Minister, who is being investigated by Metropolitan Police and is the subject of an inquiry following reports of lockdown-breaking boozy parties at Number 10 Downing Street, including his alleged birthday party in June 2020.
Green spits: “Ain’t a party, it’s a work event… Ain’t a rave, it’s a work event! …
“Nobody cared about care homes, they should’ve all been in their homes / Instead they were all ‘round Boris’, all getting down with their Doris.”
The ‘Just Be Good to Green’ hitmaker – who is a Labour supporter – commented: “Happy belated birthday, Boris.”
For the single’s artwork, Green dons a blonde wig to mimic Boris – who is known for his unkempt hair – and is sat in a mucky flat with empty tins of beer surrounding him and a cigarette in his mouth.
He also recreated the slogan board from the government’s COVID-19 press conferences to read ‘Dance Like A Tory’.
The music star previously poked fun at Boris on air back in 2019, when he hilariously presented the weather under the guise of ‘BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood.
He quipped: “This is bringing in some proper strong winds, like 40-50 mile an hour.
“Winds that Boris Johnson always looks like he’s encountered every day of his life, even when it’s not windy.”
Newsreader Naga Munchetty joked: “You’re not very good.”
To which he responded: “I think I’m doing great. I’d love to see what the response is on Twitter.”
Meanwhile, Green recently insisted he will always have “working-class anxieties”.
The rap star spent years worrying about his finances – but he’s determined that his son Slimane Ray won’t suffer the same fate.
The rapper – whose fiancee, actress Karima McAdams, gave birth to their baby boy last year – said: “People always say, ‘oh you’re middle class’, no. I grew up working-class, I cannot rid myself of working-class anxieties.
“My mortgage hangs over my head like a dark cloud until I have absolute financial security, I will always have my working-class anxieties but I am making sure I am working my backside off to ensure he doesn’t have to.
“He’s gonna be working from a young age. I was working from the age of 12, probably before when I used to go and help my uncle on a building site. He’s going to understand the value of a penny, let alone a pound. Unbeknownst to him, he will hopefully avoid many of the hardships I had growing up.
“You break the cycle, you don’t perpetuate it.”
The ‘Read All About It’ hitmaker “grew up on benefits” and called on the UK government to support people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
He added: “Before free school meals, one of my earliest memories was my nan taking me to our GP to swap her voucher for my SMA milk. I grew up on benefits so I understand the benefit of them and the necessity of them as well. People need that support.
“I think any government we have could just be doing more. As long as there’s a problem, more needs to be done.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Dickinson would “freak out” if he didn’t have his lyric sheet backstage at gigs.
The Iron Maiden frontman has admitted he gets “nervous” about forgetting his lyrics and always keeps a copy of them just in case, but never ends up using them.
Speaking on Fozzy rocker Chris Jericho’s ‘Talk Is Jericho’ podcast, he confessed: “I get nervous right before I go on stage with Iron Maiden, especially at the beginning of a tour.
“Once you’re sort of, like, five or six, seven shows into the tour, you’re kind of back into the routine. So you kind of know what’s gonna happen. But the big fear, especially for a singer, is that you walk on stage and open your mouth and garbage comes out, or nothing at all. And that’s irrational, but it’s valid.
“So just own up to it. I mean, I keep a copy of the lyric sheet backstage. I never look at it, but if I knew it wasn’t there, I’d freak out.”
The ‘Run to the Hills’ star says that after the first few shows, his confidence comes flooding back.
Mentioning his spoken-word tour, ‘An Evening With Bruce Dickinson’, he added: “Then every tour, once I get to, like, six or seven shows in, the training wheels come off and I leave it in the wardrobe case. But the one-man show’s a bit different because it’s just you.
“And if you stop, it all stops. If I forget the words [while performing with Iron Maiden], the band carries on.”
The 63-year-old musician revealing he always has his lyric sheet nearby comes after he previously mocked singers who use autocues on stage.
Quoting the lyrics to Judas Priest’s ‘Breaking The Law’, he remarked: “I don’t use an autocue on stage. A lot of singers now, they just have the words there: ‘Breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law.’ Breaking the what? ‘Breaking the law. Breaking the law.'”

The ‘Bad Guy’ hitmaker will contest for Best Solo Act In The World, Best Music Film for ‘Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry’ and Best Music Video for ‘Happier Than Ever’ at the upcoming ceremony at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on March 2.
Indie star Sam will compete for the Best Album In The World and Best Album By A UK Artist prizes for ‘Seventeen Going Under’, while the album’s title track received nods for Best Song In The World and Best Song By A UK Artist.
The ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ hitmaker and Grammy-winner Billie will go head-to-head with The Weeknd, Grime star Dave, Arlo Parks, Rina Sawayama, and more, to be crowned Best Solo Act In The World.
Sam also received a nod for Best Solo Artist In The UK, along with Arlo, Dave, Simz and Rina.
As for Wolf Alice, the Ellie Rowsell-fronted group’s Mercury Prize-nominated album, ‘Blue Weekend’, is up for Best Album In The World and Best Album By A UK Artist, and the ‘Smile’ rockers are also shortlisted for Best Band In The World and Best Band From The UK.
Elsewhere, International stars, including Lana Del Rey, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, and Megan The Stallion have been nominated for some of the major prizes.
Lana’s latest LP, ‘Blue Banisters’, will compete for Best Album In The World, along with the likes of Tyler, The Creator’s ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’, and this year’s Innovation Award winner, Halsey, and their LP ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’.
BTS and Coldplay’s ‘My Universe’ secured a Best Collaboration nod and the K-Pop septet are also up for Best Song In The World for ‘Butter’.
Olivia is also up Best Song In The World for ‘Good 4 U’ and Best New Act In The World.
Lorde’s ‘Solar Power’ also has a chance of winning the coveted Best Song In The World prize.
And rap megastar Megan will contest with Bleachers, Bring Me The Horizon, IDLES, Little Simz, Rina Sawayama, Self Esteem, Tomorrow x Together, Wizkid, and Yungblud for Best Live Act.
Ahead of the ceremony, which will be co-hosted by comedienne Daisy May Cooper and Grime star Lady Leshurr, it’s also been announced that Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff will be honoured with the Songwriter Award.

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber and Olivia Rodrigo lead the nominations for the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The 27-year-old pop idol has earned nine nods in total, including top prizes for ‘Peaches’ with Daniel Caesar and Giveon, and ‘Stay’ with The Kid LAROI.
Both tracks will contest Ed Sheeran’s ‘Bad Habits’, Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘drivers license’, ‘Easy On Me’ by Adele, ‘Silk Sonic’s ‘Leave The Door Open’, Dua Lipa’s ‘Levitating’, Doja Cat and SZA’s ‘Kiss Me More’, Ariana Grande’s ‘positions’, and ‘MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)’ by Lil Nas X.
Justin will also go head-to-head with Drake, Ed Sheeran, Lil Nas X, and The Weeknd for Male Artist of the Year.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Beatles’ iconic rooftop show is set to land on streaming platforms.
The legendary gig was staged on top of Apple Corps’ headquarters in London in 1969 and marked the band’s final public performance.
‘The Beatles: Get Back – The Rooftop Performance’ will be available on Spotify, Apple Music and other major streaming platforms at 5am GMT on Friday (28.01.22).
The production has been mixed in stereo and Dolby Atmos for the first time ever by Giles Martin and Sam Okell.
Footage of the legendary concert featured in Peter Jackson’s recent documentary, ‘The Beatles: Get Back’, and the gig on Savile Row in London is widely regarded as one of the most famous musical moments of all time.
George Harrison – who passed away in November 2001, aged 58 – described the unique concert as a “nice little social study”.
The musician – who starred in the band alongside Sir Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Sir Ringo Starr – said: “We went on the roof in order to resolve the live concert idea, because it was much simpler than going anywhere else; also nobody had ever done that, so it would be interesting to see what happened when we started playing up there. It was a nice little social study.
“We set up a camera in the Apple reception area, behind a window so nobody could see it, and we filmed people coming in. The police and everybody came in saying, ‘You can’t do that! You’ve got to stop.’”
The band also considered playing the gig at some other venues, according to Ringo.
He shared: “There was a plan to play live somewhere. We were wondering where we could go – ‘Oh, the Palladium or the Sahara.’ But we would have had to take all the stuff, so we decided, ‘Let’s get up on the roof.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West plans to release ‘Donda 2’ on February 22.
The 44-year-old rap star has taken to social media to announce that his next album, and the sequel to last year’s ‘Donda’, will be released next month.
Kanye posted a picture of his Chicago childhood home on fire on his Instagram page.
The image of the house also featured the album’s release date, “2 22 22”.
It’s also been confirmed that Future will executive produce the project.
Kanye previously had a replica of his home built in the middle of Soldier Field in Chicago for one of his ‘Donda’ album listening concerts.
‘Donda’ was released in August 2021 and featured guest appearances from a host of big-name artists, including Playboi Carti, Lil Baby and the Weeknd.
However, Kanye – who legally changed his name to Ye in 2021 – has a long history of album delays and has previously announced projects that never came to fruition, so it remains to be seen whether he sticks to his February 22 release date.
Meanwhile, Kanye – who is one of the world’s best-selling artists – previously claimed that he doesn’t think there’s any limit to what he can achieve.
The outspoken star – who has also enjoyed significant success as a fashion designer – explained: “I always felt like I could do anything. That’s the main thing people are controlled by, thoughts, their perception of themselves. They’re slowed down by their perception of themselves.
“If you’re taught you can’t do anything you won’t do anything. I was taught I could do everything, and I’m Kanye West.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Doja Cat, Phoebe Bridgers and Saweetie will be honoured at the Billboard 2022 Women in Music Awards.
R&B superstar Ciara will host the upcoming ceremony on March 2 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, the first time the venue in Hollywood Park has been used for the event.
Rappers Doja, 26, and Saweetie, 28, will receive the Powerhouse and Game Changer Awards, respectively, while 27-year-old folk-pop star Phoebe, 27, is this year’s Trailblazer Award recipient.
Hannah Karp, Billboard’s Editorial Director said in a statement: “We are once again thrilled to recognise a diverse group of incredibly powerful women driving the music business and shaping pop culture. From legendary acts to those just beginning to make a name for themselves, these are all women pushing the envelope and inspiring fans around the world with their musicality, determination, attitude and style. We are thrilled to bring these influencers together for a night of incredible performances and inspiring conversation about the future of music.”
Blues music legend Bonnie Raitt, 72, will be bestowed with the Icon Award in recognition of her five decades in the music business.
Other honourees include Latin star Karol G, who has nabbed the Rule Breaker Award, and R&B- pop star Summer Walker is this year’s Chartbreaker Award winner.
Gabby Barrett, 21, will take home the Rising Star Award.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith is set to headline Brighton Pride.
The LGBTQ+ festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary this August and is back after a two-year break, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ hitmaker will top the bill on Sunday, August 7.
She said: “I am delighted to be playing at Brighton Pride this year: with my people, with my tribe with all the out and proud outsiders of our country.
“I can think of nowhere else I would rather be, than headlining Pride!”
Dance duo Gorgon City are set to headline the Dance Big Top on Saturday night.
More acts will be confirmed in due course.
Paloma has a huge LGBTQ+ following and was named an Honorary Gay at the 2020 Attitude Awards.
She said at the time: “I’m absolutely thrilled… [The LGBTQ community] just feels like my community. From school age, I’ve had friends who are gay men or girls who aren’t particularly bothered about labelling their sexuality; that’s how I’ve grown up. It’s something that’s part of who I am.
“When I hear homophobia, I take it personally. It feels like I’m defending myself.”
The 40-year-old pop star added: “I struggle with people being discriminated against. I think everyone’s entitled to be exactly who they are without the age-old traditionalist values that have been put on us. If your soul is good and beautiful, that’s enough. I feel the same about transphobia, feminism, Black Lives Matter. People are constantly in denial about minority groups that are treated wrongly, saying ‘It’s all fine, we’ve sorted that out now.’ But we’re nowhere near that.”
Mariah Carey was due to headline in 2020, before Pride was called off amid the pandemic.

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele’s producer Inflo is set to be honoured with the Producer of the Year BRIT Award.
The studio wizard, of the music collective Sault, has become the first Black winner of the prize.
Inflo – whose real name is Dean Josiah Cover – wrote and produced three songs with the 33-year-old Grammy-winner for her comeback LP, ’30’; ‘Woman like Me’, ‘Hold On’ and ‘Love Is a Game’.
The songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is also known for working with the likes of Little Simz and Michael Kiwanuka, who have congratulated Inflo.
Simz, who worked with Inflo on her Ivor Novello Award-winning 2019 LP ‘Grey Area’, said: “Flo is a true creative in every sense of the word. Music is in his DNA. He really loves, lives and breathes this. There is no one more deserving of this award.”
And regular collaborator Michael commented: “As a producer, Inflo is a breath of fresh air to an artist trying to find their own voice. He helps you find what it is you want to say, and always puts his stamp on the work which always elevates the music.”
Inflo has thanked the non-white producers who came before him for “paving the way”.
He added: “As the first Black Music producer to ever win a BRIT for Best Producer, I feel honoured to be a part of change. All the Black producers before me, I’m in awe and have studied you. I am you. Thank you for both paving the way and for your integral contribution to British music.”
Inflo will be presented with his award during the Red Carpet show on ITV2 between 7pm and 8pm on February 8, at The O2 arena, which is broadcast exclusively on ITV and ITV Hub. The show will be hosted by Clara Amfo and Maya Jama.
Adele and Simz have both received several nominations at the upcoming BRIT Awards with Mastercard.
’30’ and the latter’s ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ will contend for the biggest prize of the night, Album of the Year, and both stars are up for Artist of the Year.
Adele also received nods for Song of the Year for ‘Easy On Me’ and Best Pop/R&B
Simz, meanwhile, could walk away with Best Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap and Best New Artist.
The Likes of Liam Gallagher, Grime star Dave and Rising Star Award-winner Holly Humberstone are set to take to the stage on the night.
Meanwhile, for the first time in awards show history, a number of the winners will be honoured with NFTs designed by artist MRE.

All proceeds will benefit the BRIT Trust.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tove Lo would like to see Damon Albarn and Taylor Swift mend their rift by collaborating.
The Swedish pop star – who has co-written hits for the likes of Dua Lipa, Lorde and Ellie Goulding – has spoken out in support of the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker and believes the Blur and Gorillaz frontman was misunderstood when he suggested she doesn’t write any of her songs, before issuing an apology.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Tove, 34, said: “I know Taylor writes and she is a great writer.
“I guess maybe he had a misunderstanding of that.
“I know when people see a lot of names on a song they think, ‘Oh did they do this or not?’
“But it’s rare for anyone to write their songs 100 % these days.
“The way we collaborate now, you send people stuff and say, ‘Hey can you find something else’.
“The fact that there is a lot of names doesn’t mean the artist isn’t involved.”
Asked whether the pair should get in the studio together, she replied: “That would be sick, join the genres. I would love to see some genre-blending.”
The row ensued following an interview Damon, 53, Gave to the Los Angeles Times newspaper.
The outlet promoted the interview with the tweet: “Albarn also spills his thoughts on some of today’s chart-topping music artists.
“Billie Eilish? “I think she’s exceptional.”
“Taylor Swift?” She doesn’t write her own songs.”
Taylor retweeted the post and fumed: “I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f***** up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.
“PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering.”
However, Damon suggested his remarks had been sensationalised to attract readers and apologised “unreservedly and unconditionally”.
He replied: “I totally agree with you. i had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand. – Damon”
In the interview, the ‘Parklife’ singer insisted he wasn’t “hating” on Taylor but suggested collaborating with other songwriters was “very different” to taking sole responsibility for her work.
He said: “She doesn’t write her own songs. Co-writing is very different to writing. I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes.”
He went on to praise Billie Eilish, who writes her songs with her brother, Finneas.
He added: “A really interesting songwriter is Billie Eilish and her brother. I’m more attracted to that than to Taylor Swift. It’s just darker – less endlessly upbeat. Way more minor and odd. I think she’s exceptional.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Kooks have announced their sixth studio album.
Luke Pritchard and co planned to take a break in 2018, following extensive touring across the globe in support of their LP ‘Let’s Go Sunshine’.
However, Luke couldn’t switch off from music – not only did he and his wife Ellie Rose launch their duets project Duo, and release a self-titled EP in 2020, but he also got to work on new music for the ‘She Moves in Her Own Way’ hitmakers.
Now, the indie-pop group are back with the first taste of their upcoming three-part collection, ‘10 TRACKS TO ECHO IN THE DARK’, with the singles ‘Connection’, Jesse James’ and ‘Modern Days’ now available on streaming platforms as the EP, ‘CONNECTION – ECHO IN THE DARK PART 1’.
Luke, 36, explained how felt compelled to make an album that represents The Kooks as a “European band” after being “really affected by Brexit”.
He said: “I started going to Berlin for three or four days at a time. I was really affected by Brexit and I wanted to make a bit of a statement by creating a European record.
“We’re a European band, we practically lived out there and have so much love for Europe, so we wanted to keep that connection.”
Luke noted that he rained in his drug-taking during his time in Berlin.
He said: “I wasn’t doing any drugs.
“It was more dive bars and a bottle of whiskey than Berghain.”
On how the German city – frequented by David Bowie and U2 – inspired him, he continued: “A lot of songwriters have found refuge in Berlin.
“It’s a free place, it’s not so consumed by commerciality. I was looking for something a bit rawer, a little bit more minimal. Sometimes you just pick up these nuances somewhere. It’s not necessarily the people, it’s the place.”
Luke co-wrote and produced much of the record with Tobias Kuhn there, but in March 2020, COVID-19 travel restrictions meant the pair had to work via Zoom, until Tobias could fly to London and join The Kooks – also comprising Hugh Harris and Alexis Nunez – to put the finishing touches to the LP.
Getting married and becoming a dad for the first time also gave Luke an “inner peace”, which is reflected throughout the uptempo electronic-tinged collection.
Luke added: “I really hope that sense of inner peace comes across.
“I really want to have fun with my life at this point. But also – it’s kinda a reflection of what I was feeling in real-time in a pre-and-post COVID world. I was reading a lot of sci-fi – like Philip K. Dick, Azimov and surreal stuff like Boris Vian – which is obviously really distracting from what’s going on in the world, but helped me be imaginative with the songs.
“In the pandemic I had a good amount of time to look over our albums and feel proper proud and lucky. This album is a real thank you to our fans for sticking by us for so long, we hope you love it.”
’10 TRACKS TO ECHO IN THE DARK’ is released in full on July 22.

OHMYGOSSIP — Allegra was “addicted” to songwriting from the moment she first stepped into a recording studio.
The ‘If You Wanna Love Me’ singer was “hooked” on creating songs as soon as she started working with a producer when she was just 14 years old, even though she was “terrified” at the time.
She recalled to Wonderland magazine: “As a young girl I was already writing and I have to say it’s quite funny now looking back.
“But one thing I really remember is going to a studio to record at around 14 years old with a producer and it was the first time I’d heard my voice like that and I was hooked. It was what started everything off for me.
“I was terrified! But I really wanted the experience and to learn about it all. We wrote three songs over two days. I got so addicted to it and now that’s why I write all the time.”
The ‘Used to Miss You’ singer is inspired by “empowering women” when it comes to her own music.
She said: “I’m always keeping a list of references to different artists for new ideas, sometimes it plays out and sometimes it doesn’t.
“Beyoncé, always. As a child, I had a bright pink microphone and I’d always be singing her songs into it in my room. I also loved Rihanna, The Saturdays, Alicia Keys, and Rita Ora whilst growing up. I’m currently obsessed with this new upcoming artist called Mimi Webb. I have to listen to empowering women.
“I’m always making new playlists for inspiration
“Well another influence of mine is Dua Lipa and I’ve been compared to her quite a few times, which is certainly no bad thing. My next single coming out actually really reminds me of her. I love her modern disco vibe.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Asha Gold has insisted it is “important” to represent all sides of her culture in her music.
The ‘Exes’ singer admitted there is a lack of “representation” for Asian females in the pop industry, so she’s proud to fly the flag, even if it brings a lot of “pressure” too.
She said: “Growing up I didn’t see a lot of Asian pop stars, you didn’t hear them on the radio or on the way to school.
“I’m an Anglo Indian woman growing up in London, it’s important for me to represent that side of my culture and to be present in a space where we’re lacking a bit of representation.”
“I think there is a lot of pressure but at the end of the day my goal is to make the best music.”
Asha was one of BBC Introducing London’s Best of 2021 and she feels “validated” to have made it in the mainstream.
Speaking on PizzaExpress and music therapy charity, Nordoff Robbins’, interview series ‘Behind the Base’, she said: “Being validated by BBC Radio One which I’ve listened to literally since I was a kid is amazing.”
Recognition was particularly important to the 19-year-old star because she admitted her work can sometimes feel “lonely”.
Speaking as she prepared a vegan pizza, she said: “Being creative is quite a lonely thing sometimes. Are you making songs that people are really responding to? And is this something that is going to go somewhere?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jesy Nelson is writing with Little Mix’s songwriter.
The 30-year-old singer has been in Los Angeles working on new music to follow up her debut solo single, ‘Boyz’, which sampled P Diddy’s ‘Bad Boys For Life’ and featured a guest verse from Nicki Minaj.
And now it has been revealed that Jesy – who quit the chart-topping girl group in December 2020, because of the toll being in the band took on her mental health – has chosen songwriter to the stars, Tayla Parx, who co-wrote her former band Little Mix’s mega-hit ‘Sweet Melody’, to help her make a hit.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Jesy flew out to Los Angeles earlier this month and has been working with Tayla, who is a songwriter as well as an artist in her own right.
“She has an incredible track record when it comes to writing smash hits, so Jesy is hopeful they will be able to cook up something great together.
“They knew each other via industry friends, so it seemed like a no-brainer to reach out and get her on board.
“It’s been a tough few months for Jesy but it finally feels like things have turned a corner.”
The release of ‘Boyz’ in 2021 was marred by a backlash with some listeners claiming that Jesy was guilty of blackfishing – pretending to be Black or mixed race – and cultural appropriation in the accompanying music video.
In response, Jesy said: “These are the videos that I watched and thought were the best. For me personally, ’90s/2000 hip hop, R&B music was the best era of music. I just wanted to celebrate that. I just wanted to celebrate that era of music because it is what I love.”
Prior to arriving in LA, she said: “Just a message to say I love you all so, so much and I cannot wait to be able to show what I’ve been working on.”

The musical collective – known for giving contemporary pop hits a classic twist in styles of bygone eras – will be performing 20 shows across the UK as part of the Grand Reopening Tour.
Band leader Scott Bradlee said: “Music has served such a valuable function of inspiring us and reminding us of our shared humanity throughout history, and there’s simply no substitute for gathering together to experience such a powerful force live.”
