OHMYGOSSIP — Ministry of Sound Classical will perform at the Hampton Court Palace Festival 2022.
The worldwide collective has joined forces with classical musicians to transform “what an orchestral performance can be”, with special guests set to appear at the show on June 18.
MOD Classical will be joined by producer Seb Fontaine, DJ Fat Tony and Zimbabwean electronic music star Rozella for the show.
In a press release, Historical Royal Palaces and IMG said: “World leaders in dance music, Ministry of Sound originated in 1991 and now includes a nightclub, members club, record label and much more.
“Bringing their new classical music experience to Hampton Court Palace Festival, fans can expect an evening of beats and rhythms as special guest DJs are set to take to the stage with the dance anthems as you’ve never heard them before.”
The summer festival series already has a stacked lineup, with Elbow, McFly, Kacey Musgraves, The Human League, George Benson and Jack Savoretti all announced.
The schedule is completed by performances from Michael Ball and Alfie Boe, and Crowded House.
At the open-air festival, artists perform in an intimate 3,000-seat auditorium in Base Court, set against the backdrop of Henry VIII’s Tudor Palace.
Punters at the shows will be able to picnic in the Palace Gardens, with plenty of street food options available, and there will also be Waterside Gazebos for those wanting to “sit back and relax in luxury”.
The festival is selling exclusive dining and corporate entetainment packages in the palace’s state apartments, including three course dinner, private dining and access to the palace, plus champagne and fine wine.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Libertines will play ‘Up The Bracket’ in full at a special London arena show this summer.
The ‘Time For Heroes’ indie legends have announced plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut studio album by performing the collection in its entirety when they headline the OVO Arena in Wembley, London on July 23.
The special gig will see the band – completed by Pete Doherty, John Hassall, Carl Barat and Gary Powell – play the record in full alongside other “classic” songs from their catalogue.
The ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’ hitmakers have also teased some “very special guests” joining them for the show, although they haven’t confirmed any details on the mystery artists.
Last month, the group finished their ‘Giddy Up A Ding-Dong Tour’ with a show at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, London, while they’ll be hitting the road in Europe in October and November.
Meanwhile, frontman Doherty recently admitted he hopes the group will release new music in 2022.
He revealed the band decided to “hold off” their first studio effort since 2015’s ‘Anthems for Doomed Youth’, and though he has no idea “how or when it’s going to happen”, he’d like to think they can share something with fans before the end of the year.
Pete said: “At the end of the tour we did that ended last month, everyone was really upbeat by the fact that we were all still alive after the various quarantines and John coming and going.
“We were all really upbeat about the future, so I don’t know how or when it’s going to happen but I think it will.”
He also teased one “cracker” of a song called ‘Mustang’, which he’s been tempted to play live already.
He added: “I like to think so. There was one song that was getting finished called ‘Mustang’, which was a cracker and definitely up there with the greats.
“I kept saying, ‘Let’s do it tonight’, but everyone was more keen to hold back. I really hope you get to hear it all this year.”

OHMYGOSSIP — LCD Soundsystem want a break from the album-touring “cycle”.
The ‘Daft Punk Is Playing at My House’ band’s frontman James Murphy has shared a lengthy update with fans to explain their upcoming mini-residencies marking their 20 anniversary, which include short runs at venues in Philadelphia and Boston following last year’s 7-date run in New York City.
Taking to Facebook, Murphy said: “You invest so much time, energy, and cost into ‘getting ready’ [for a tour] that you wind up touring for ages just to make it worthwhile… then you need a big break again. then you are reluctant to start all over again. it’s a cycle. (sic)”
He admitted the group might focus on releasing singles “for a while” rather than full-length LPs, while they’re keen to take less “overwhelming” approach.
He added: “We really wanted to stop living like that, so we talked about just playing some shows in new york, since most of us live here, and not making it too big of a deal.
“like, just playing because we like it, and because we like one another. just be a new york band for a bit. and maybe we’ll do something like that every year.
“just stay in shape, if that makes sense. and just make records along the way. maybe just singles for a while, so there isn’t some ‘album panic’ etc. (sic)”
Murphy was keen to point out he loved the NYC residency and the band are “looking forward to the rest of the shows” lined up in 2022.
He continued: “It was great to play those shows, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the shows we’re playing this year.
“it’s not overwhelming, so i can work on new music and we can all be human beings.
“maybe we’ll just play other places next year, moving around to cities we like to play, where we’re wanted, etc. (sic)”

The ‘What Is Love’ singer will play electric piano and be joined by guitarist Robin Boult and Nick Beggs on chapman stick, as well as special guest Steve Harley, for an intimate performance at PizzaExpress Live in Holborn, London on Thursday (10.03.22) evening, and will also treat the audience to the stories behind the songs and “fascinating recollections from his international touring career”.
As well as the music, guests will also be treated to a welcome drink and a three-course meal, plus a live auction featuring money-can’t-buy prizes presented by ‘Bargain Hunt’s Charles Hanson.

OHMYGOSSIP — The xx have launched a new monthly radio series on Apple Music 1.
The acclaimed trio have created ‘Interludes Radio’ and the new series will premiere on Apple Music’s live-streaming radio station on March 10.
Looking forward to the first show, The xx said: “We’ll be taking turns to host each episode and get into the things that inspire us individually. An hour of music, guests and sneak peeks of what we’re all up to on our own and together.”
The show will feature exclusive new music, fan interactions, and behind-the-scenes insight into the group’s creative process.
The inaugural episode will feature Oliver Sim and a number of his celebrity friends and collaborators, including Florence Welch and Sir Elton John.
The episode will be horror-themed and will see Oliver’s big-name guests share their favourite horror movies with the audience.
The xx have also announced the news on social media, promoting the first show on their official Twitter account.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bryan Adams never got to “enjoy” his chart success because of his hectic touring schedule.
The 62-year-old Canadian rock legend had a global hit with ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It for You’, which spent weeks at No1 in the UK in 1991, but the ‘Run to You’ singer was “non-stop” play gigs to really take in the “surreal aspect of being No1″.
In an interview with The Independent newspaper, Bryan said: “I was on tour. People were always saying, ‘You’re Number One in England,’ but I wasn’t around to witness it. I was playing gigs, non-stop. I was on tour, literally, for four years. So the way it changed was suddenly, I was playing a lot more places, to much bigger crowds. And for a lot longer tours. I don’t suppose I ever really got to enjoy the surreal aspect of being No1 for four months. I was only told about it.”
The ‘Heaven’ hitmaker is known around the world for his single ‘Summer of ’69’, but it failed to climb the charts in most countries and didn’t become “well-known” until a decade later.
On why that might be, Bryan explained: “They said, ‘Did you know ‘Summer of ’69’ has just gone to No 1 in Holland?’ Even though the song had a little bit of a life in North America, it took 10 years for it to become well known. It never even hit the charts in the UK. And so perhaps there’s something about the songs that we write that just don’t necessarily have that instant appeal. But in the long term, they climb out of the wreckage.”
Bryan is set to release his 15th studio album, ‘So Happy It Hurts’, on Friday (11.03.22).
And the ‘Pretty Woman The Musical’ lyricist and photographer is the happiest he’s been in his career.
He admitted: “It’s taken me years to get to this point now, but I’m quite happy I’ve got there.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bob Dylan is to release a collection of over 60 essays.
The 80-year-old singer began working on ‘The Philosophy Of Modern Song’ – which will be released on 8 November – back in 2010 and the book will feature the ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ hitmaker’s musings on music by other artists, including Elvis Costello, Hank Williams, and Nina Simone.
An announcement for the book promised the tome will constitute “a master class on the art and craft of songwriting”.
It added: “[Dylan] analyses what he calls the trap of easy rhymes, breaks down how the addition of a single syllable can diminish a song, and even explains how bluegrass relates to heavy metal.
“While [the essays] are ostensibly about music, they are really meditations and reflections on the human condition.”
Publishers Simon Schuster believes the book “could only have been written” by Dylan.
President and CEO Jonathan Karp said in a statement: “The publication of Bob Dylan’s kaleidoscopically brilliant work will be an international celebration of songs by one of the greatest artists of our time.
“’The Philosophy of Modern Song’ could only have been written by Bob Dylan. His voice is unique, and his work conveys his deep appreciation and understanding of songs, the people who bring those songs to life, and what songs mean to all of us.”
An audiobook will also be released, with the ‘Ballad of a Thin Man’ singer reading some essays and “a mix of other voices” doing the rest of the narration.
Dylan signed a six-book deal with Simon Schuster in 2011.
After winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 2016, his acceptance speech was published as ‘The Nobel Lecture’.
His autobiography, ‘Chronicles: Volume One’, came out in 2004.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kesha doesn’t want to “ever” release music that idol Dolly Parton wouldn’t like.
The ‘Woman’ singer gets “teary-eyed” just thinking about her cover of the country music legend’s song ‘Old Flames (Can’t Hold a Candle to You)’ – which Kesha’s mom, songwriter Pebe Sebert, co-wrote for the ‘Jolene’ hitmaker.
The 76-year-old icon duetted with the ‘Tik Tok’ hitmaker on their version of the hit for her 2017 LP ‘Rainbow’, and ever since then, Kesha decided “guiding light” Dolly would have to “love” all the music she puts out thereafter.
Speaking about the ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker for Rolling Stone’s Icons and Influences issue, she said: “It was a real corner turned in my mind once she said she would collaborate with me. I made a rule to not do any music — no matter how successful it could be, no matter how many people would love it — that Dolly Parton wouldn’t f*** with. I don’t ever want to put out any music that Dolly Parton wouldn’t enjoy or listen to, or find some humour in. She’s so much of a guiding light, and she has no idea.”
Despite the pair’s connection and collaboration, the ‘Die Young’ singer is still yet to meet her idol.
She added: “I still have never met Dolly in person. We’ve talked and communicated, but we’ve yet to have the two bodies in the same room. To still have somebody you know that you’re going to get so nervous and act a fool around — it’s exciting to know. There’s a moment in my life that I’m still so looking forward to.”
Kesha, 35, is so devoted to Dolly, she’d want her wedding to be at her famous tourist attraction, Dollywood.
She said: “If I ever get married, I want to do it at Dollywood. I was just there a couple months ago. I’ve been there like 10 times. I’m obsessed with Dollywood. It’s just, like, the happiest place on earth. It’s in the middle of the Smoky Mountains. It’s a theme park that’s Dolly Parton-themed. Everybody should go to Dollywood.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Halford says Judas Priest being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would be a “win for heavy metal”.
The ‘Breaking the Law’ group have been nominated for the third time, and frontman Rob Halford, 70, admits there is a “distinct lack” of their style of music represented in the Hall of Fame at present.
Speaking to Los Angeles Daily News, he said: “It would be a blast. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is for all kinds of music and that includes heavy metal. But if you look at the people who have made it into the Hall, there’s a distinct lack of this style of music that we make. If we do get in, it’s a win for Priest, it’s a win for metal, it’s a win for our fans.”
This year, the likes of Dolly Parton, Eminem, Lionel Richie and Duran Duran have received the nod.
In 2021, there was a backlash after metallers Iron Maiden failed to be inducted.
The likes of Tina Turner, Foo Fighters, and Jay-Z were among the 16 acts to be honoured.
Hall of Fame boss Greg Harris insisted that rock music is a “big tent and everybody fits under it”, even if they don’t play rock ‘n’ roll music.
On why they have stuck to their guns and never renamed to just the Hall of Fame, despite some slating them for inducting artists that are not considered rock and roll musically, the CEO replied: “I think to get to the core of it, people like the stuff that’s closest to them, and I think they need to expand their thinking of rock and roll. It’s a big tent.
“Rock and roll was never just four skinny guys with long hair and guitars; it’s always been diverse … We take that interpretation that these are all variants of rock and roll. And I think, underneath it, it frequently gets to the hip-hop question because some people are not fans.
“Well, the fact of the matter is that ship has sailed. We’ve inducted quite a few artists in that canon. It’s a big tent and everybody fits under it. It’s an attitude, it’s a spirit, and that’s rock and roll.”

OHMYGOSSIP — N-Dubz star Fazer insists the band will reunite “when the time is right”.
The ‘Playing with Fire’ group – also comprising Tulisa and her cousin Dappy – went on an indefinite hiatus in 2011, but the 35-year-old rapper has insisted the door has always been left open for their return.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s WIRED column, Fazer insisted: “We never said that we would never get back together, we always said we would at some point – it’s just about time.
“We never said it was off the cards we always said it’s going to come back at some point.
“Right now there’s a lot of sceptical stuff, but we will bring it back at some point.”
Fazer – whose real name is Richard Rawson – suggested that N-Dubz wouldn’t need a record label to make a comeback because NFTs make it possible for artists to have full control of their careers.
He said: “NFTs are the way forward for artists when it comes to piracy and getting paid, why would you ever sign to a record label?
“It’s the way forward for artists because it deletes the whole thing of having a record label and it puts the consumers in a position to, theoretically speaking, become the record label.
“They’re financing your careers, they’re financing your videos and everything and in return, they’ll hold stake holds in the percentages.”
The ‘Say It’s Over’ star has been inspired by hip-hop star Tory Lanez to release two new solo songs as Non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
He added: “Look at Tory Lanez recently, the song he released as the NFT made him the fastest artist in history to go platinum.
“He sold a million copies in less than 60 seconds, even if he was Michael Jackson, Madonna, no matter who you are it’s humanly impossible to do (on a normal label).
“It puts people in positions to build to be able to do amazing things in very short amounts of time.”
In 2011, the group planned to go on a two-year break, but never reformed.

OHMYGOSSIP — Deftones bassist Sergio Vega has quit the band.
The 51-year-old musician replaced the late Chi Cheng as bass player in 2009, and after a promo picture of the ‘Minerva’ rockers posted to Spotify didn’t feature Sergio, he has explained his decision to leave.
Sergio suggested there was a dispute with his contract and whether he should be classed as an “official member” of the group.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, he said: “I didn’t want to have to make a video about this, but after the recent band photo posted on Deftones’ Spotify, I feel the need to clear the air. I’m not very good at this. So I wrote out a statement and I will read it to you now.
“To give a brief history about me and my friendship with Deftones. We met in 1995. I filled in for Chi — rest in peace — in 1999 and was asked to work with the band after his tragedy in 2009. Because of the love they have for Quicksand, I was asked to bring the same approach as a songwriter and arranger to them as well.
“I was also told that similarly to Frank [Delgado, Deftones keyboardist] I will be brought in over time to become an official member. I had worked with the band for 12 years, and at the start of every album cycle, I asked about becoming an official member, but the contract would be improved instead.”
Sergio admitted the COVID-19 pandemic brought him to “breaking point” and claimed his original contract had been “cancelled” by the band.
He was then offered a new contract but turned it down as there was no room for “growth”.
He continued: “COVID was a breaking point for a lot of people. And I started to question my place in the band, and the future that I wanted for my career. I really started to need something stable, because at that point, my contract with them was cancelled. One day I got a call from the guys about an internal band situation, and they asked me if I was solid, and that I would have to fly out to LA to help work it out. Right away.
“I said, ‘Of course’. I was all in, and we can handle my situation later. But I can’t go back to my old contract. Our respective management had a conversation to discuss a new contract, and they offered me the same deal. At that point. It was clear there was no opportunity for growth for me. So I declined the offer. And then I call the guys immediately to see where the miscommunication was to resolve it. But there was no response.”
Sergio left the band “early last year” and has turned his attention to his band Quicksand and working with other artists.
He added: “A couple of days later, I received an email from their lawyer that their offer was withdrawn, and that they wished me the best. So I left the band early last year, and since then I’ve been focused on my band Quicksand, as well as working as a producer and writer for other artists and projects. And I’m mentioning this because there was some speculation about me selling my gear and quitting music altogether.”
He went on to thank Deftones fans for their support over the years.
Sergio concluded: “I want you to know that I appreciate all the years we spent together: writing, performing, being taken into your worlds. I learned a lot from each one of you, when you brought me in, you created a new sense of passion for music that I will always cherish and carry with me. You truly changed my life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — UB40 have announced the new dates for their first tour with vocalist Matt Doyle.
The KIOKO band member replaced Duncan Campbell, 63, after he was forced to end his tenure in the reggae legends to focus on his recovery from a stroke in August 2020.
The band subsequently announced the extensive 24-date ‘Bigga Baggariddim Tour’, which was due to take place at the end of 2021.
However, due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, the shows were postponed.
The ‘Red, Red Wine’ group are now set to hit the road in May, kicking off at the Brighton Centre on May 1, with the run set to wrap at the newly-renamed London OVO Arena, Wembley on December 21.
The shows will see the live debut of their new track, ‘Champion’, which was penned for the multi-artist LP ‘On Record’ as part of the Birmingham 2022 Festival ahead of the arrival of the Commonwealth Games later this year.
Robin Campbell, Guitarist and Vocalist, commented: “We’re so excited to finally be going back on the road and feel the vibe and love of a live crowd, and for all the UB40 fans to meet Matt as well. They can expect a phenomenal show. We’ll be sure to bring the party.”
Fans can expect classics such as ‘Food For Thought’, ‘Kingston Town’, ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love With You’ and ‘Red, Red Wine’, plus tracks from their latest collaborative album ‘Bigga Baggariddim’.
Duncan confirmed his exit in a statement in June, which read: “Unfortunately, due to continued ill health, I have reluctantly decided to retire from the band so as to focus on my recovery.
“I am very grateful, and would like to express my sincere thanks to the fans for all their support during this time and indeed throughout my time with UB40.
“The band have my full support going forward and, of course, my very best wishes for the future with their new singer.”
UB40 formed in Birmingham in 1978.
Duncan replaced brother Ali Campbell in 2008 after he left over a disagreement about management.
Ali went on to tour as UB40 Featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey.

70-year-old Neal Preston was the only photographer ever hired to go on tour with Led Zeppelin, and he also worked closely with other famous rock musicians such as Queen and Bruce Springsteen.
In a recent interview with Goldmine magazine, Neal revealed that “there is never going to be a Led Zeppelin reunion.”
The band was formed in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page and broke up after drummer John Bonham’s sudden death in 1980.
Neal said: “There is never going to be a Led Zeppelin reunion. And if you hear that there is, I authorize you to cash out, liquidate everything and put it on ‘No, it’s not going to happen.’ It comes up every year and it’s not going to happen, and it never was going to happen.
He also addressed the way the different members of the band feel about reuniting, specifying that Jimmy Page always wanted to do more tours, whereas Robert Plant didn’t want to make any sort of rock music anymore.
The photographer explained: “It was amazing that they even did the one-off years ago, which I decided not to go to because I need that band to live somewhere in my brain. They turned down a billion dollars and it just gets under Jimmy [Page]’s craw, because Jimmy has always wanted to do the adult tour, the sober tour, the musical tour, not about all their shenanigans.
“Robert [Plant] just doesn’t want to make that music anymore. They offered them so much money for the ‘Old Chella’ thing, the desert trip show. It’s never going to happen! I don’t want to see a 75-year-old Jimmy Page duckwalking across the stage.
He also addressed the occasional reunion shows that the remaining members of the band did, including a performance at London’s O2 arena in 2007 that featured John’s son, Jason Bonham, on the drums.
Neal said: “I know that the show at the O2 in London got great reviews, but it’s not Led Zeppelin! It’s three guys from Led Zeppelin and Jason Bonham.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Flea, the bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, convinced guitarist John Frusciante to reunite with the rock band.
The 59-year-old bass guitarist explained that he was spending time with John, 52, when he brought up the fact that he missed playing music with him.
In an interview with Classic Rock Magazine, Flea revealed: “We were just shooting the shit, talking, eating. We’d never really talked about [the split] much. At one point my wife and his girlfriend were in the other room and we were sitting alone, and I said: ‘John, sometimes I miss playing with you so much.’ And I started crying when I said it.”
The Red Hot Chili Peppers first formed in 1983. John joined the band in 1988 after original guitarist Hillel Slovak’s death. John first left the band in 1992 due to drug issues caused by discomfort with fame and then rejoined in 1998 after going to rehab.
John left the band again in 2009, and Josh Klinghoffer, 42, took over his guitarist role until John rejoined in 2019.
Flea described his emotional conversation with John as the tipping point that led him to ultimately decide to rejoin the band.
Flea added: “And [John] looked at me and I saw the tears in his eyes. And he said: ‘I miss it too.’ There was just this moment, but in that moment I remember thinking: Man, you know…”
Lead vocalist Anthony Kiedis, 59, also commented on John’s reunion with the band.
He revealed: “If your long-lost family member comes back and says: ‘Hey, I wanna rejoin the family,’ you have no choice. You cannot say no.”
In the interview, Flea also commented on how he, like John, was initially plagued by the effects of the band’s rise to fame.
He confessed: “I became a mess when we got really famous. I fell apart, I became ill, I had chronic fatigue syndrome, I was miserable and sad, and I went through a period of seclusion and sadness.”

OHMYGOSSIP — YUNGBLUD has seemingly recruited Ozzy Osbourne for his new music video.
The rocker is set to release his new single ‘Funeral’ on Friday (11.03.22), and the ‘Fleabag’ hitmaker took to Instagram to share a Reels video of himself with The Prince of Darkness and his wife Sharon on the set of the promo.
Black Sabbath icon Ozzy, 73, could be seen with freaky black eye makeup in the clip.
As well as the ‘Crazy Train’ hitmaker and his spouse, YUNGBLUD – whose real name is Dominic Harrison – tagged their daughter Kelly Osbourne in the video shared on Instagram.
The 24-year-old star captioned the post: “Bringin some mates to my funeral… (sic)”
It’s not known if it’s just Ozzy or the three of them that will make a cameo in the promo.
YUNGBLUD has been teasing fans for days now about his first new song of 2022.
In a handwritten note to fans, he announced: “To whom this may concern.
“For those I let down I’m sorry, for those who let me down, f*** you but I forgive you.
“You are cordially and graciously invited to my funeral.”
Lyrics include: “I’ve been dancing at my funeral.
“But nobody came, what a shame shame shame…”
Meanwhile, YUNGBLUD recently teased that his upcoming album is “completely uncensored, completely outrageously”.
The ‘Cotton Candy’ star is known for his honest and vulnerable lyrics and admitted his fans will be “shocked” by his follow-up to 2020’s ‘Weird!’, because it’s “the most personal music” he’s ever made.
He said: “I’ve been in London. I’ve been making kind of the third record and I’m just so excited about it. This is, for me, the most personal music I’ve ever written.
“And I think people are going to be a bit shocked about that because all my other music is pretty personal.
“I think I just need to say it as it is completely uncensored, completely outrageously. And I think this is what this album’s doing. You know what I mean? That’s what I do.
“And my favorite songs I’ve ever released are the songs that do that. So, you know what I mean? Get ready.”
