OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran made a surprise appearance with Snow Patrol at Latitude festival on Sunday night (24.07.22).
The pop star has been enjoying time off work recently following the birth of his second child with wife Cherry Seaborn but he returned to the spotlight to perform with his pal and co-writer Johnny McDaid’s band during their headline set at the event in Suffolk, England.
The band – which also comprises Gary Lightbody, Jonny Quinn, Nathan Connolly and Paul Wilson- stunned fans by introducing Ed to the stage for a performance of his hit track ‘Bad Habits’ while he later returned to perform Snow Patrol’s track ‘Just Say Yes’.
Ed previously performed with the band at the same festival when he staged a secret show there back in 2015.
The festival is held close to the village of Framlingham, Suffolk, where Ed grew up. He has since returned to the area to live with his wife and two children.
Ed and Cherry welcomed their second child together in May, with reports suggesting the couple named their little girl Jupiter Seaborn Sheeran.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Ed and Cherry loved the name both in terms of what it stands for and its uniqueness. “Everyone thinks Jupiter works perfectly for her. Behind closed doors Cherry has been gushing over becoming a mum again. She and Ed really are a match made in heaven. Their family is beautiful.”
They are also parents to another daughter Lyra, 23 months, who was born in August 2020.
The couple announced their second child’s birth in a statement, which read: “Ed and Cherry recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl and are on cloud nine. “They’re so excited for Lyra to have a little sister and the four of them are currently enjoying some precious family time before Ed heads back on tour. “We are delighted for them, and we hope that you can respect their privacy at this special time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Red Hot Chili Peppers are bringing out a new album, ‘Return of the Dream Canteen’.
The ‘Californication’ hitmakers – made up of Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith, John Frusciante, and Michael Balzary, better known as Flea – will drop their 14th studio album on October 14, and their second of 2022 after they shared ‘Unlimited Love’, their first album since 2016’s ‘The Getaway’.
The news was first shared at their tour stop at Denver’s Empower Fields during their North American stint of their ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers 2022 World Tour’, which will see them play their beloved hometown of Los Angeles at the SoFi Stadium before hitting cities such as Chicago, Toronto, Las Vegas and Austin between now and September.
Of their upcoming LP – which also features production from Rick Rubin – the band said: “We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way. Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waistband of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream. When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well we figured it out. 2 double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. ‘Return of the Dream Canteen’ is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It’s packed. OHMYGOSSIP — Joni Mitchell surprised the crowd at the Newport Folk Festival.
The 78-year-old legendary folk star wowed the crowd with her first live performance since 2013 at the Rhode Island three-day festival during Brandi Carlile’s set on Sunday night (24.07.22).
During the show, Joni – who first appeared at the festival in the 60s – and the 41-year-old folk singer duetted on two of her biggest hits, ‘A Case of You’ and ‘Both Sides Now’.
Brandi began her show praising the power of folk music and the people that love it and included appearances from her bandmates Phil and Tim Hanseroth and Celisse Henderson, and her pals Allison Russell, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig from Lucius, Blake Mills, Taylor Goldsmith, Marcus Mumford and Wynonna Judd.
She said: “This scene shall be forever known henceforth as the Joni jam!”
Joni – who made her first public appearance in 2022 at the MusiCares’ 2022 Person of the Year Gala in April – treated the crowd to a 13-song set list including fan favourites ‘Carey’, ‘The Circle Game’ and ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ and a cover of George Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’.
The Grammy winner hit the headlines at the beginning of the year after she joined Neil Young’s boycott of the music streaming giant, Spotify in protest of their deal with the controversial comedian Joe Rogan to exclusively distribute his podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ – reportedly worth an estimated $200 million – after he came under fire for his comments about COVID-19 and vaccines.
After the 76-year-old musician removed his back catalogue, Joni said: “Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.”
The ‘Heart of Gold’ hitmaker issued an ultimatum to the music service, saying: “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears and Sir Elton John have reportedly recorded a duet.
The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker is said to have secretly met with the 75-year-old legend and producer Andrew Watt at a Beverly Hills recording studio last week to work on a new version of his 1971 classic song ‘Tiny Dancer’ and it will likely be released by Universal Music next month.
A source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column: “This was Elton’s idea, and Britney is a huge fan. They have recorded a remix of ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a full duet — and it is incredible.
“Britney was in the studio in Beverly Hills last week with Elton for the super-secret recording session overseen by uber-producer Andrew Watt.
“They’ve already played it for people at their record label, and everybody is freaking out. It is so good.
“They are saying this is going to be the song of the summer.
“Britney is officially back. She’s back to work, and she’s super excited.”
Britney – whose 13-year conservatorship finally came to an end in November 2021 – has been hinting recently that she is thinking about getting back to work.
Earlier this month, the 40-year-old pop star shared an Instagram video of herself singing a new version of her debut single ‘…Baby One More Time’.
She captioned the clip: “I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time … maybe too long.”
The track will be Britney’s first official single since 2016’s ‘Slumber Party’, the video shoot for which she met her now-husband Sam Asghari.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Davies is “optimistic” about reuniting The Kinks with his brother Sir Ray Davies.
The 75-year-old rocker has just released the candid tome ‘Living on a Thin Line’ – in which he makes surprising claims, such as being hit with a sex ban by aliens – and in a new interview promoting the book, Dave admitted there’s every chance he and his elder sibling can put their tumultuous past behind them and reform the iconic rock band.
He told The Independent when asked if a reunion was on the cards: “I hope so! I do.
“Ray and I have spoken about it – it’s possible!”
Of their relationship now, he said: “We get on okay.
“We talk about football! We’re born-and-bred Arsenal fans … So, yeah, I’m optimistic about the future.”
On his time in the music industry, he added: “I grew up in the music business, and it’s insane. We have to touch madness to draw from it, and it stimulates us as well as driving us mad. Maybe real truth is inside that madness somewhere.”
The brothers caught up over a pint in December 2020.
In 2018, Dave admitted they needed to “iron out a few” kinks before working together again.
Ray, 78, went on a national news channel to announce that the ‘You Really Got Me’ group had been back in the studio for the first time in 25 years, but his brother claimed it wasn’t entirely true as they’d only discussed the prospect and need to argue out their creative differences first.
Dave spilled: “I thought, ‘What is Ray bulls****** about now?'”
However, he added: “We’ve been talking about maybe trying to work on new Kinks material.
“I said, ‘We shouldn’t go public yet because we’ve got to iron out a few things.’
“He said, ‘Yeah.’ Of course, he left, and the next thing he’s on TV saying we’re doing it. Typical Ray.”
The pair’s notorious fights even made it onto the stage throughout the roaring 60s’.
The brothers founded the band in 1963.
They performed together for the first time in almost 20 years in 2015, when Ray joined Dave on stage in London for a performance of ‘You Really Got Me’.
The Kinks’ classic line-up featured Mick Avory on percussion and the late Pete Quaife on bass.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jarvis Cocker has confirmed Pulp will reunite in 2023.
The 58-year-old frontman of the legendary Britpop band has revealed reunion rumours – which were ignited by a cryptic video shared by the ‘Common People’ hitmakers on social media last week – were true and told the crowd at a Q+A hosted by The Guardian newspaper that they will hit the road next year.
Last week’ video – which was shared on Jarvis’ Instagram – was a 15-second clip that included “what exactly do you do for an encore,” a line from their 1998 record ‘This is Hardcore,’ which will turn 25 next year.
According to a series of tweets from an attendee at the event, Jarvis – who formed the band in 1984 – called the clip “deliberately cryptic” before he revealed the band’s plans to “play some concerts”.
Jarvis told the crowd on Monday night (25.07.22): “It was deliberately cryptic. It’s a line from ‘This is Hardcore’… Next year, Pulp are going to play some concerts.”
No dates were given for the tour.
The ‘Do You Remember the First Time’ rockers reunited in 2010, with Jarvis joined by Russell Senior, Candida Doyle, Nick Banks, Steve Mackey and Mark Webber.
And they went on to play a surprise set at Glastonbury in 2011, followed by a headline slot at Reading and Leeds.
Their last performances were in 2012, including a hometown show in Sheffield and a pair of shows on the SS Coachella Cruise.
In 2020, Jarvis said: “We got back together in 2011 and 2012 and we did quite a lot of shows and for me, that really brought that chapter to a satisfying end.”
“We rehearsed for quite a long time and I think we’ve managed to play the songs convincingly and authentically, and by that I just mean that we managed to locate what the songs were about. They still rang true.
“I thought it was pretty much a perfect tour, really; and that was a good end to that. But then I just had to try and think about what I would do after that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — K-pop supergroup Twice’s talent agency and Republic Records are holding auditions to create an American girl group.
JYP Entertainment and the label are collaborating to create “the first American artist made out of a K-pop system” and will begin by holding auditions across the country, beginning in September, for their new project, titled ‘A2K’.
In a video unveiling the plan released on Monday (25.07.22), two of the executives involved in the new show explained their rationale behind to look stateside for their next act.
Park Jin-young, the founder of JYP Entertainment – who gave the world Stray Kids, Twice and ITZY – said: “The name of this project is ‘A2K’, which is an abbreviation of ‘America2Korea’. So the final artist that comes out of this procedure will be the first American artist made out of a K-pop system.”
“It’s like talented artists who goes through a training system like an Olympic gymnast will go through. That’s the K-pop artist that the global audience fell in love with because of their dedication, their discipline and their hard work and the values they carry. That’s what separates them from a lot of artists.”
He added: “This is the biggest project ever for me and JYP Entertainment.”
Monte Lipman, the founder and CEO of Republic Records said: “We are going to find, identify and curate this incredible talent coming from America, but we’re applying the K-pop system, the JYP system in developing a supergroup, which we’ve never seen before.”
The auditions – which are open to American and Canadian nationals between the ages of 12 and 16 – will take place in five cities across the United States, such as Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, Dallas and Los Angeles. Successful applicants will be invited to attend a bootcamp in Los Angeles to see if they get an invitation to JYP Entertainment’s offices in Seoul for the final round.

The ‘Kickstarts’ hitmaker – real name Elliot Gleave – didn’t ever expect to have this much success in the music industry when he started out a rapper with his 2007 debut ‘What We Made’ and almost retired after his wife Erin McNaught gave birth to his seven-year-old son Evander – the big brother to his four-year-old son Ennio – but has since regained his stride to get back into the recording studio.
The 40-year-old rapper told the Metro’s Sixty Seconds featurette: “Including my mixtapes and my compilations, it’s my 14th LP. I first started in this industry, my first album seemed like a miracle. I never saw a way I could be a musician. There weren’t any white rappers being signed or rap/hip-hop in the UK like there is now. I was a white kid from Fulham with long hair and a very wonky hip-hop album that flopped. But Ministry of Sound signed me in 2009, which is when I started making dance music and my track ‘Kickstarts’ changed my life. The amount of money I was getting and fans I had, I was on TV and radio. After ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’, my ambition went through the roof, so I felt unstoppable. And then my fifth album, ‘Live Life Living’ flopped and I was thinking about giving up music. I’d met my wife, Erin, and she was pregnant with Evander. But ‘All Night’ turned everything around again in 2019. It had 40 million streams.”
Example shared that he knew his good pal, Ed Sheeran was going to be a huge star and told him to not “forget” him when it hits the big time.
He said: “I speak to Ed on email once a week because he doesn’t have a phone. The first time I watched him when he supported me in 2009 at the Waterfront in Norwich, I gave him a bottle of whisky and wrote a note saying, ‘Don’t forget me when you’re playing stadiums.’”

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles has earned his first-ever Mercury Prize with FREE NOW nomination.
The former One Direction star’s third solo album, ‘Harry’s House’, has been shortlisted for the prestigious music prize, making its top 10 Albums of the Year list.
The ‘As It Was’ hitmaker, 28, will compete with the likes of Sam Fender’s ‘Seventeen Going Under’ and Little Simz’ ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ to be crowned the overall winner of the prize on September 8 at London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.
Self Esteem, Joy Crookes, Fergus McCreadie, Gwenno, Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler, Kojey Radical, Nova Twins, Wet Leg, and Yard Act also made the shortlist.
The judging panel – which includes musicians Anna Calvi, Jamie Cullum and Loyle Carner, and is chaired by Head of Music, 6 Music and Radio 2 Jeff Smith – commented: “Getting down to 12 albums this year was not easy, simply because there were so many remarkable ones to choose from. OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Stapleton and Sheryl Crow have joined the lineup of Willie Nelson’s Farm Aid.
The ‘Tennessee Whisky’ singer and the ‘Soak Up the Sun’ hitmaker have been added to the festival – which will take place on 24 September in Walnut Creek in Raleigh, North Carolina – that celebrates and spreads awareness of the climate resilient farming initiative started by the 98-year-old country legend, along with performances from fellow board members like John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Margo Price.
Neil Young – who also sits on the board of Farm Aid – will not be taking to the stage for a second year running due to concerns about COVID-19 after it was cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.
The 76-year-old folk singer recently told a fan: “I will not be at Farm Aid this year. I am not ready for that yet. I don’t think it is safe in the pandemic. I miss it very much.”
Despite this the festival assured attendees that they are “staying up to date on the latest CDC guidance and industry best practices to limit the transmission of COVID-19. Farm Aid is taking various precautions, including enhanced sanitation protocols and streamlined operations to prevent unnecessary crowding. Farm Aid will monitor the situation closely and will update protocols as warranted leading up to the festival.”
Other acts confirmed to be making an appearance at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park event – to which tickets will go on sale on Saturday (30.07.22) – include Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson Promise of the Real, Allison Russell, Charley Crockett, Brittney Spencer and Particle Kidd.
Farm Aid – a yearly charity concert in aid for American farmers styled after Live Aid – say the festival “will showcase how farmers are leading the way to mitigate climate change by sharing their stories on the Farm Aid stage and throughout the event”.
Of the organisation’s mission, Wille said: “I’ve always said that family farmers strengthen us all. Farmers in North Carolina, across the Southeast, and all over the country are growing solutions to our toughest challenges, including climate change. We’re bringing Farm Aid here to highlight their hard work and celebrate the ways we can all join farmers to help.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Shmurda announces his first EP since being released from prison.
The 27-year-old rapper will drop ‘BodBoy’ on August 5 through his own label, GS9 – a partnership with music company OneRPM – after he shared the first track, ‘Hoochie Daddy’, making the nine song offering his first array of new music since he was freed from prison in February 2021 after facing charges of conspiracy to murder and weapons possession.
Prior to this EP, Bobby featured on a remix of ‘Tata’, alongside Eladio Carrion, J Balvin and Daddy Yankee and dropped a number of other singles, including ‘Splash’, and ‘Cartier Lens’.
Earlier this month, the ‘Shmoney’ rapper spoke about his decision to go “independent” with his music career again after opting to leave Epic Records.
Bobby said: “It’s the first time, yeah. I haven’t been independent since 2014, since I signed the [Epic] deal. I just got out of it three months ago. That s*** feels good, just being free to be able to do whatever you want to do. Because I’m the type of guy, once I can’t do whatever I want to do, that’s not me. That’s where they take the you from you.”
He also admitted he didn’t know if the “craziest” part of being incarcerated was “the riots or the sex on the visits”.
Bobby said: “I don’t know if it’s the riots or the sex on the visits. I got oral sex, didn’t get sex sex. I’m too big to be doing all that other s***, ya understand?”
The ‘No Time for Sleep (Freestyle)’ hitmaker claimed that he would get caught but often the prison authorities “wouldn’t care” about the shenanigans.
Bobby said: “I mean, sometimes. Some of them wouldn’t care, they’d be like [shrugs]. Some would be like [in deep voice], ‘Ackquille Pollard! Chill, hold it down, son! What the f*** you doing?! This girl right here, both of y’all get the f*** out!’”

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Thee Stallion has joined forces with fellow rapper Future to release her new single ‘Pressurelicious.’
The 27-year-old star’s new single marks her third release of the year, following on from GRAMMY-nominated ‘Sweetest Pie’ with Dua Lipa back in March and ‘Plan B’, which she debuted at Coachella in April.
A press release for the new single read: “The new single is a punchy, seductive track that showcases the bravado of a woman that knows who she is, what she has to offer, and the willingness of a partner to love and embrace every bit of it.”
News of the single – which was produced by HitKidd and released on streaming platforms on Friday (22.07.22) – comes just two months after the ‘WAP’ hitmaker was crowned Top Rap Female at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, beating off competition from Cardi B and Latto.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bananarama’s bond goes “way beyond music”.
Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward are preparing to go back out on the road to celebrate their 40th anniversary, and the duo – who used to be joined in the band by Siobhan Fahey – are still as close now as they were growing up, having met at school when they were just five years old.
Sara said: “Keren and I totally connected.
“We did the blood brothers, ‘We’ll be friends forever’, thing and we really have been.
“We’re both very determined to do what we do despite not always having the greatest of times.”
Keren added: “Our friendship is way beyond music. We have such a shared history.”
The ‘Cruel Summer’ singers are “very proud” of their long career.
Sara said: “Forty years is such a long time for females in the music industry.
“The fact that we’ve kept going through the highs and lows and still come out with an incredible body of work is something to be very proud of.”
Keren added: “Being women, we’ve always felt we’ve had to work twice as hard to get the respect we think we deserve. Especially in hindsight, I think we really do deserve it.”
The duo will mark their anniversary with the release of a new album, ‘Masquerade’ later this month, and Sara’s daughter, singer/songwriter Alice D helped write some of the songs.
Keren told HELLO! magazine: “I think it’s quite a reflective album.
“Sara and Alice wrote a song called ‘Forever Young’ and Sara told me her inspiration was our childhood friendship and us growing up. I got really emotional about it.”
The ‘Venus’ hitmakers are hoping to still be together in years to come.
Asked about the possibility of a 50th, or even 60th, anniversary album, Keren said: “Never say never. We just feel very blessed to be able to have this sort of career.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamal Edwards planned Ed Sheeran’s latest music video.
Ed, 31, was left devastated when his close friend and collaborator Jamal, 31, died from a cardiac arrest after taking recreational drugs in February and he almost abandoned the plans for the video for ‘Are You Entertained’.
However, Jamal’s mother Brenda and sister Tanisha encouraged Ed to continue to work on the video for his collaboration with Russ and he is “proud” that they were able to bring Jamal’s vision to life.
Ed wrote on Instagram: “I was having dinner in New York in December when @russ came up to my table, I was a fan so we just sat and ate pasta and drink wine together. A few days later I sent him the rough idea for this song, the same day he emailed me back with it finished, which I loved. He said we should do a video, so I hit up @jamaledwards, knowing that he would create something incredible for us. Jamal then planned it out for the next couple of months, sending me locations, ideas, cameos, trying to make it the best video any of us could make.
“We were meant to shoot in February, but the day before Russ flew out, Jamal tragically died. Our whole world was upside down, and I had to cancel and just tell Russ it wasn’t happening, but he was so so understanding, to a level il never forget. Jamals mum @brendaedwardsglobal and sister @Tanisha.arts_ , a few weeks later said we should still try and make Jamals vision come to life, so with the help of his amazing production team at @radicalmedia_london and @jakenava directing, we shot it.
“I felt so sad on the day, but very proud. I wish Jam was here to see it, I wish we’d done it together, but he would be buzzing how all his people came together and brought his vision to life. Russ, thanks for being such an amazing human, and thank you to everyone who made this video happen. Jamal lives on forever. Are you entertained out now x.”
Brenda wrote on Twitter: “It’s been incredible seeing my Son Jamal’s creative vision come to life for this video. Huge thank you from myself and the whole SBTV Family to Jake Nava,Alistair Khalil, Nicky Caulfield. To Ed and Russ, thank you for believing in Jamal, he’s smiling down. #SelfBelief.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Marcus Mumford has announced his upcoming tour.
The 35-year-old Mumford and Sons frontman is set to release his debut solo album ‘Self-titled’ on September 16 and he will kick off his North American tour three days later in Boulder, Colorado on September 19.
The tour will include further shows in Denver, Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles in September before moving on to Ventura, California, Austin, Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, Nashville, Portland, New York and Boston in October and November.
The final show will take place in Toronto, Canada on November 10.
Danielle Ponder will open for Mumford at the September 19–October 14 concerts with The A’s supporting from October 17–November 10.
A UK and Ireland headline tour will follow in mid-November.
Meanwhile, Mumford recently revealed that Steven Spielberg has directed his first solo music video.
The iconic filmmaker – known for his legendary big screen career working on the likes of ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ and ‘Schindler’s List’ as well as the ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ franchises – has now moved into the world of music.
The 75-year-old director was at the helm of the video for Mumford’s new single ‘Cannibal’.
Taking to Twitter, Marcus revealed Spielberg created the piece ‘in one shot’ using his phone, while the filmmaker’s wife Kate Capshaw was also on set.
He wrote: “On Sunday 3rd July in a high school gym in New York, Steven Spielberg directed his first music video, in one shot, on his phone. Kate Capshaw was the almighty dolly grip.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the support of the people around me to bring this music to you, and I cannot hope to express all of my gratitude.
“When people get it, it blows my mind. Kate and Steven just got it, and I cannot thank them enough.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joan Jett was “disappointed” The Runaways had so many male fans.
The 63-year-old rocker – who was joined in the band by Sandy West, Micki Steele, Cherie Currie, and Jackie Fox – wanted to appeal to women but could understand why their female followers would be hesitant to mix with “leering” guys in the crowd.
She said: “I was disappointed to a degree that the audience was full of guys leering – but I also understood why.
I guess that had to be kind of scary for girls to go in there and watch to a degree – I wasn’t in the audience but I can only imagine the guys had quite an… energy about them out there.”
Joan felt it was important for her group to “give a voice” to unrepresented young women and got frustrated by the double standards that she faced.
She told MOJO: “Teenage girls think about sex, teenage girls talk about sex and just because it makes society uncomfortable doesn’t mean they’re going to stop.
“So you need to give voice to that because boys have a voice, being able to sing about their puberty, growing up, all that stuff.
“Mick Jagger can ride out on an inflatable penis… Not that I need to come out on an inflatable vagina – but I’m just saying I should be able to do it.
“As a kid, that’s what bugged me the most – the unfairness of it. It’s the principle. It’s the f****** principle.”
And the ‘Cherry Bomb’ hitmaker knew she and her bandmates had the musical talent to compete with other top bands.
She said: “I’d put our musicianship up against anybody’s. Sandy’s drumming up against any drummer. Lita’s guitar playing up against any lead guitar player.”
