Radiohead reunited ‘about two months’ ago

OHMYGOSSIP — Radiohead have been back in the rehearsal room.
Bassist Colin Greenwood, 55, has confirmed the ‘Creep’ rockers reunited in a London rehearsal space “about two months ago”.
Speaking via video call at the Hay Festival Querétaro in Mexico at the weekend, he spilled: “We did some rehearsals about two months ago in London, just to play the old songs.
“And it was really fun, had a really good time.”
Around the same time of their rehearsal, Colin’s brother and the group’s guitarist Jonny Greenwood was rushed to intensive care suffering an infection, forcing his band The Smile to postpone the European leg of their tour.
The 52-year-old musician, who is also a keyboardist for the group and film score composer, was touring as part of the group – which he’s in with fellow Radiohead singer Thom Yorke, 55, as well as 44-year-old Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner – when he fell severely sick.
A statement from The Smile issued on X on July 12 read: “A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care.
“Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home.
“We have been instructed by the medical team in charge of Jonny’s care to cancel all engagements until he has had time to make a full recovery.
“To that end, The Smile tour of Europe in August is cancelled. Refunds for headline shows will be available from your Ticket provider.
“We all wish Jonny a speedy recovery.”
Radiohead haven’t toured together since 2018, and their last studio album was 2016’s ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’.
Last November, drummer Philip Selway teased that after enjoying a lengthy hiatus, the band – completed by guitarist Ed O’Brien, 56 – were getting to the point of wanting to reconnect.
Appearing on a live stream with the Crow Hill Company, the 57-year-old sticksman said: “We’ve actually had a little break for a minute; the last show that we did was back in 2018, but we’re coming back ’round to that point now. There is just something particular to that relationship – that creative relationship and personal relationship – actually, you can’t get anywhere else.
“We’re all coming back around to that point now of thinking, ‘Right, we’ve had a break – this is it. This feels like something to dive back into and really explore and see what other directions it can take us in.”

Self Esteem gives update on ‘difficult third album’

OHMYGOSSIP — Self Esteem has confessed she’s found it “difficult” making the follow-up to her acclaimed, Mercury Prize-nominated second LP ‘Prioritise Pleasure’.
The 37-year-old singer – whose real name is Rebecca Lucy Taylor – has reflected on embarking her solo career in her thirties and admits being “burnt out” hasn’t helped her creativity levels, however, she believes she is more than halfway through her third studio effort.
She told Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw on the ‘Sidetracked’ podcast: “I think I’m 70 per cent through making the difficult third album.
“No one has ever been that interested in what I’m about to do. The last album had its little moment, so I’ve got a natural amount of stress from that.”
She continued: “I used to have a very clear idea about what I wanted… Now the idea isn’t that clear. I don’t know if it’s because I’m burnt out or because I’m 37.
“My mate the other day was like ‘Is there anyone who has done what you’ve done?’, and I was like ‘That’s the problem, in a way’. Everyone else did it in their 20s so there’s no blueprint. At 40 most women disappear, and I’m just getting started.”
The former Slow Club star – who released ‘Prioritise Pleasure’, the follow-up to 2019 debut ‘Compliments Please’, in 2021 – teased the new record is “horribly honest” and admitted she ditched plans for a “poppy crossover” LP.
She said: “I’m all about ‘the universe is in charge and we’re not’ – all of that. I’m on that train now, so I’m just trying to believe my own thoughts basically. We’ll wait it out and it’ll come.
“I am excited. It’s not what you think though. I think everyone thinks I’m going to do a good, poppy crossover. I did want to try and do that but it wasn’t possible.
“I made quite a complicated listen. It’s horribly honest. It’s too honest.”

Judas Priest re-releasing debut album with ‘more modern’ sound

OHMYGOSSIP — Judas Priest are re-releasing their debut album ‘Rocka Rolla’.
The legendary heavy rockers have had their 1974 debut album freshened up and made “more modern”.
Appearing on the ‘Talking Rock with Meltdown’ podcast, bassist Ian Hill, 72, teased: “It’s just been re-engineered by Tom Allom after all of these years. The multi-tracks were in remarkably good condition, and he’s changed some of the sounds, made it more modern and obviously remixed it. And he’s done a great job.”
As for when it’s being released, fans don’t have long to wait.
The musician added: “It’s just coming out shortly, I believe. It’s only a few weeks away, I’m sure it is. Yeah, but he’s redone it. It’s gonna be re-released, which is great news. It’s finally got the production it’s always needed.”
Meanwhile, Priest’s frontman Rob Halford recently shared how Dolly Parton tickled his beard whilst rehearsing.
The 73-year-old rocker found it “so surreal” meeting the 78-year-old music legend for the first time and having her stroke his facial hair.
The pair joined forces with ‘Heartbreaker’ hitmaker Pat Benatar, Eurythmics Annie Lennox and Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon to perform Dolly’s iconic hit ‘Jolene’ at the 2022 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.
Rob was then invited to record ‘Bygones’ for the country music icon’s rock album ‘Rockstar’, which also featured Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx and John 5.
He told Metal Hammer magazine of the first meeting: “She goes, ‘I love your beard!’, and she starts to clean my beard! It was so surreal! I’m meeting this living legend and she’s tickling my beard and going, ‘So you’re going to sing some Jolene with me?’ I was just floating.”
The ‘Breaking The Law’ rocker says it was a career highlight working with the ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker.
He said: “We’re on the phone to each other and she’s going [puts on a credible Southern US accent], ‘Send me the files! Send me the files!’ So I sent her the files and she calls back and goes, ‘I love these! This is gonna be great!’ This is Dolly Parton on speakerphone!
Ha ha! She’s just this beautiful beacon of life.
You can tell by the way I’m speaking that this is important to me as a musician, to have had this literally once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with someone so great.”

Fatboy Slim doesn’t understand technology in music: ‘I’m old school, I’m OG…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Fatboy Slim doesn’t understand technology in music.
The 61-year-old DJ – whose real name is Norman Cook – had been approached to work with ‘Marea’ hitmaker Fred Again, 31, but couldn’t quite commit to it because he cannot get his head round the modern ways of the recording studio.
Speaking on Apple Music 1, he told Rebecca Judd: “Everybody was trying to get us to work together. I was just going, ‘I can’t be in the same room as him.’ I wouldn’t know where to start because of what he’s doing with technology.
“I’m old school, I’m OG and I’m used to just playing records with the cross fader and maybe using a sample a bit, but he’s taking it to the next level. I don’t feel like I’m in the same conversation as him.
“I would sit there looking at him in awe, going, ‘How the hell did you do that?””
The ‘Praise You’ hitmaker – who released a string of successful albums and singles in the late 1990s and early 2000s – also explained that while his new single ‘Bus Stop Please’ is on the way, he cannot quite bring himself to release as often as he did in his heyday because he has lost his motivation in recent years.
He said: “I’ve got a new single called ‘Bus Stop Please’.
“I’m not that driven to put records out these days and I think I’ve kind of lost my nerve a bit, but also I’m not churning ’em out like I used to.”
Earlier this year, Norman reunited with former The Housemartins bandmate Paul Heaton at Glastonbury to perform ‘Happy Hour’.
Prior to introducing his former bandmate, Paul joked that they were part of the first boyband ever.
The Housemartins rose to prominence in the 1980s, when ‘Happy Hour’ spent 13 weeks in the UK singles chart, while it was also an underground hit in the US.

Oasis ticket controversy prompts investigation into Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system

OHMYGOSSIP — Controversy over Oasis tickets has prompted an investigation into Ticketmaster’s “dynamic pricing”.
The European Commission is said to have launched an “urgent review” into the platform’s ability to raise prices of concert tickets based on demand in light of the inflated prices for the Britpop legend’s highly anticipated 2025 reunion tour.
The US-owned company has been told it could have breached UK and European laws over the inflated prices with some tickets raising from £135 to £350.
As reported by The Guardian, a spokesperson for The European Commission confirmed it is investigating dynamic pricing.
And the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) also told the outlet it is “urgently reviewing” the use of the system.
A spokesperson added: “Consumer protection law requires businesses to be fair and transparent in their dealings with consumers, and businesses must give clear and accurate information about the price people have to pay. Failure to do so may breach the law.”
The EC is examining the pracitce as part of a “fitness check” of EU consumer laws, and the review will prompt MEPs to consider solutions such as a ban, and other less extreme possibilities.
Although dynamic pricing itself is not unlawful, there are concerns the way it was used could be a breach of EU directives.
This could be the case if the price of a product went up after a consumer placed tickets in their basket online, or if websites didn’t give fans “necessary material information” about the tickets.
Hundreds of official complaints have been made to the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) claiming Ticketmaster didn’t inform people beforehand that tickets could cost £350.
It was only when fans reached the checkout after hours in an online queue that they found out the cost has increased.
As reported by Sky News, the UK’s Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said: “This government is committed to putting fans back at the heart of music.
“So we will include issues around the transparency and use of dynamic pricing, including the technology around queuing systems which incentivise it, in our forthcoming consultation on consumer protections for ticket resales.”

Billie Elish prefers albums to singles: ‘It’s all about dynamics and the flow…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish prefers albums over singles.
The 22-year-old pop star has enjoyed massive success since launching her debut record ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ in 2019 and after launching her new studio album ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ has explained that she likes to work on something as a “cohesive” project as opposed to individual songs.
Speaking on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, she explained: “I’ve always been such an album lover! I really love when something feels like one piece and is cohesive and thought through. I’ll write down all the names, tear them up, move them around… it’s all about dynamics and the flow.”
The ‘Luch’ hitmaker is also thankful for her hardcore fans who have been with her since the very beginning of her career and she is reminded of how she herself would be loyal to her favourite artists during her formative years as she likened them all to being “old friends” of hers.
She said: “What’s been so cool is that all of these fans, all of my little family, we’ve been growing up at the same time. So many kids, especially in L.A. because I’m from here and I’m around and stuff, when I was first starting out there would be certain kids that I would see at everything I would do, and we were all the same age.
“So they would come to stuff and I would see them multiple times a year and then not for a couple years, and then I’d see them again. Over the years I’ve seen the same faces multiple times, and it feels like seeing my old friends again.”

Zedd reveals why he thought his new album would be his last

OHMYGOSSIP — Zedd thought his latest about would be his last.
The 35-year-old DJ – whose real name is Anton Zaslavski – released his third studio album ‘Telos’ at the end of August and admitted that he thought about quitting the industry immediately afterward because of the “burnout” he had suffered.
He told People: “Another meaning of Telos is ‘the end,’ and I, for a minute, thought maybe this would be my last piece of music that I would ever release. I was really overworked, I was burned out, and musically I felt like I had poured my entire soul into this album and have nothing left to say..”
The ‘Clarity’ hitmaker was determined for his latest record to be “perfect” despite the extra work it required and likes to think of the whole project as being part of his “legacy” to the world.
He added: “I really wanted this album to be perfect, and it required just a ton more work. ‘Out of Time’ sets the mood. It’s the beginning of the album, and it really sort of has a little bit of everything. It has that theatrical bit, a drop, a really emotional and super strong vocal. I think ‘Lucky’ represents more so the fun, pop side of the album, and everything else on the album lives somewhere between those two worlds..
“If you know that something is going to be the last thing you ever do, you better make it perfect.”
“Part of the perfection that I see in this album comes from the feeling of, ‘This may be like my legacy. I better do exactly what I want to do with this album.”

Lady Gaga announces new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has announced new music.
The 38-year-old pop star has not released an album since the chart-topping ‘Chromatica’ in 2020 and since then has starred in films like ‘House of Gucci’ and the upcoming ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ but revealed on Tuesday (03.09.24) with a picture of her schedule for October that a new single is imminent.
The post read: “XX October: LG7 first single.”
This could mean that the new album will arrive in early 2025, given previous timings.
The ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker recently made a surprise return to the music industry in the weeks after she performed at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics as she teamed up with Bruno Mars to release their ‘Die With a Smile’ ballad.
In the days after its launch, she wrote on Instagram: “Watching fans from all over the world celebrate this music has meant so much to me, to see the words of the song touch your heart and the video provoke this huge wave of dancing and fun is beautiful to watch and I’m so grateful.

The K’s are ‘honoured’ to headline This Feeling By The Sea festival

OHMYGOSSIP — The K’s insist it is “an honour” to get to headline This Feeling By The Sea.
The indie rockers – comprised of singer-and-guitarist Jamie Boyle, lead guitarist Ryan Breslin, bassist Dexter Baker and drummer Nathan Peers – will top the bill at the festival this Saturday (07.09.24).
The headline slot is part of an exciting end of the year for the band who will support Liam Gallagher at his Malta Weekender event, which takes place between September 19 and September 21, before heading out on a headline UK tour of their own. In 2025, The K’s released their debut album ‘I Wonder If The World Knows?’ which reached number three on the UK Albums Chart.
Speaking about their This Feeling By The Sea show, The K’s guitarist Ryan said: “It’s an honour to be asked to headline This Feeling By The Sea. We started out with This Feeling doing our first gigs on the circuit and to now be headlining their festival is class.”
The event takes place at Bridlington Spa in Bridlington, Yorkshire, England, and on Friday (06.07.24) The Royston Club will headline.
A total of 22 acts will performer over the two nights, including Pastel, Seb Lowe, Casino and The Crooks, and the event will be hosted by former ‘Sky Sports Soccer AM’ presenter Fenners.
This Feeling By The Sea also has an acoustic stage. Friday headliner Finn Forster has a huge future ahead of him, earning comparisons to Paulo Nutini and landing a deal with Ed Sheeran’s agent. That day will also highlight sets from Sunbeam and Beth Pilling. And Saturday’s bill will be topped by The Serotones, who recently made a big impression as openers at Shed Seven’s special 30th anniversary show at York Museum Gardens. Saturday’s line-up also introduces Frankie Dobson and Mae Armstrong.
Quickly becoming one of the highlights of the summer festival circuit, This Feeling By The Sea is a triumph for the UK’s grassroots live music scene.
Every single artist on the line-up has come through with the help of This Feeling’s support, often landing their first proper gig with small local club shows in their hometowns.
This Feeling’s passion for grassroots music can be underlined by the statistics. Each year they host a total of 300 shows in 70 grassroots venues, covering 40 cities and towns across the UK.
And 220 of those events are club shows, often with a popular local band playing their first big headline show, with support coming from a selection of promising unknown artists having their first opportunity to play to a proper crowd.
They also present another 80 headline shows a year at venues with capacities going all the way from 100 to 2,500 people. Over the course of a year, This Feeling’s grassroots gigs host a total of 1,000 plus artists, performing in front of a combined audience of 40,000 fans.
This Feeling is also a platform which offers rare meritocracy in the music industry. If a local band impresses as support at a club show, they’ll have the potential to later headline that same venue. If their headline show is a success, they have every chance of featuring at one of This Feeling’s curated festival stages at the likes of the Isle of Wight, Truck and Y NOT?.
And the wider This Feeling community opens up so many more opportunities from fans, fellow bands, influential DJs, media and more. This Feeling By The Sea also runs an Apply To Play scheme, which gives two unknown bands the chance to perform at the festival, judged by renowned DJs John Kennedy (Radio X) and Jericho Keys (BBC Introducing).
Noel Gallagher – who has just reformed Oasis with brother Liam – The Libertines singer Carl Barat and Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno are all famous admirers of This Feeling, and Mark Davyd, CEO of the Music Venue Trust, has championed what they do for grassroots music in the UK.
Mark said: “This Feeling bring huge passion and expertise to the grassroots sector, supporting countless artists and venues right across the country with fantastic curated events that really showcase how vibrant the live music industry is right now. By The Sea is a great showcase for everything they’ve achieved, as well as providing a much-needed platform for the next generation of talent.”
Tickets are available for £60 for the weekend, £35 for day tickets and £10 for under-12s.

Oasis announce two more Wembley shows

OHMYGOSSIP — Oasis have announced two extra shows at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher announced last month they were putting their differences behind them for a 2025 reunion tour – the group’s first shows since 2009 – but when the UK and Ireland gigs went on sale at the weekend, fans experienced lengthy online queues and technical difficulties as over 10 million fans from 158 different countries attempted to get tickets.
And now, “as a small step towards making amends for the situation”, an invitation-only ballot has been devised for the sale of tickets for the new shows on 27 and 28 September next year, with applications first opened to those who were unsuccessful in the initial Ticketmaster sale.
The sale at the weekend saw the ‘Wonderwall’ hitmakers criticised when Ticketmaster implemented dynamic pricing, meaning some fans paid as much as £350 for tickets originally priced at less than half that amount.
The announcement for the two new shows stressed Oasis themselves were not responsible for the decision.
It read: “As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.
“While prior meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster and the band’s management resulted in a positive ticket sale strategy, which would be a fair experience for fans, including dynamic ticketing to help keep general ticket prices down as well as reduce touting, the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations.
“All parties involved did their utmost to deliver the best possible fan experience, but due to the unprecedented demand this became impossible to achieve.”
Further details on the ballot for the new shows will be announced in due course.

Justin Bieber is working on new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber has been working on new music.
The ‘Love Yourself’ hitmaker has been in the studio with 26-year-old singer-songwriter Mk.gee – who has previously worked with the likes of Dijon, Omar Apollo, and Kacy Hill.
The producer – whose real name is Michael Todd Gordon – told The New York Times: “He’s [Justin] searching.
“Anything that comes out of his mouth: That’s pop music. You can really do pretty wild stuff behind that, just because it represents something.”
Justin, 30, was forced to quit the rest of his ‘Justice World Tour’ after suffering partial facial paralysis due to Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and has been prioritising his health.
In an Instagram video when he first postponed shows in June 2022, he explained: “Obviously as you can probably see with my face. I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.
“Can’t believe I’m saying this. I’ve done everything to get better but my sickness is getting worse.
“My heart breaks that I will have to postpone these next few shows (doctors orders.) To all my people I love you so much and I’m gonna rest and get better.”
The jaunt was due to end on March 25, 2023, in Kraków, Poland, but wrapped in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 4, 2022.
Although fans haven’t had any solo music in a while, Justin featured on Don Toliver’s ‘Private Landing’ and a stripped-back cut of SZA’s ‘Snooze’. He hasn’t put out an album since 2021’s ‘Justice’.
Meanwhile, the ‘Sorry’ hitmaker recently became a father for the first after wife Hailey Bieber, 27, gave birth to their baby boy, Jack Blues Bieber, last month.

Keisha Buchanan had a ‘really hard time’ in her early days of Sugababes

OHMYGOSSIP — Keisha Buchanan had “a really hard time” in her early days of Sugababes.
The 39-year-old singer was a founding member of the girl group alongside Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy but “wasn’t really close” to Siobhan in those days and had to endure a negative atmosphere until she left and was replaced by Heidi Range.
Speaking on the ‘Receipts’ podcast, she said: “From the age of 12 to maybe 16, that’s when the first shakeup came. 16 going on 17. It was a really hard time because I think we…Siobhan and I weren’t really close when we were younger, it was such a shakeup. It was kind of…it just wasn’t a nice atmosphere. So after she left, quite quickly, Heidi came in. We were told that there was an auditioning process happening so we auditioned a friend and then Heidi came along.
“Our friend was a year and a half younger than us and in the UK, you can’t work more than a certain amount of time. And we were just turning 17 so we could do more, collectively, management said it was better to have Heidi. It just made sense for her age, she was 18.”
The ‘Push the Button’ hitmakers went through a number of lineup changes in their heyday that also involved Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen at various times and while they are now back to the original trio, Keisha noted that during that initial “shakeup” period, it was as tricky for the girls as a band as it was for the fans.
She said: “You don’t have months and months of someone saying that they want to leave, so while the fans are going through it, we’re also trying to figure out what’s next but when we came back, we came back with a number one ‘Freak Like Me’. From there, it just went commercially massive.”

Chappell Roan re-releases tickets sold by touts and bots

OHMYGOSSIP — Chappell Roan’s team had tickets sold by touts “cancelled” and offered fans another chance to attend her concerts.
The ‘Casual’ hitmaker released a “limited” batch of tickets for her concerts this week via Ticketmaster – which is under fire for its “dynamic pricing” after Oasis fans were left furious when tickets to their reunion tour increased dramatically after they waited in lengthy online queues – as she makes a stand against scalpers.
She captioned a video message on X: “We scrubbed and canceled scalper tickets for my show this week and are releasing a limited number of tickets to you. Go to https://chappellroan.request.ticketmaster.com to request tickets now!!!”
The tickets are the ones which were bought up by touts and bots.
In the clip, she said: “Scalpers and bots just bought up all the tickets so we went through and cancelled all the scalper tickets that we could.
“I want to make sure that tickets go to people who actually want to come and are fans.
“This is the best solution that makes sense to me and my team. I know it’s confusing and it’s so annoying, but I’m genuinely so p***** about the scalper situation and think that people actually deserve to get to my show. This is a larger issue, and we’re dealing with it. I can’t wait to see people who actually deserve to be here, it means everything to me.”
The Oasis ticket fiasco at the weekend saw the ‘Wonderwall’ hitmakers criticised when Ticketmaster implemented dynamic pricing, meaning some fans paid as much as £350 for tickets originally priced at less than half that amount.
Oasis stressed that they were not responsible for the decision when they announced two further Wembley Stadium shows on September 28 and 29.
A statement read: “As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.
Ticketmaster’s ability to raise prices is to be probed as part of an “urgent review” by the European Commission.

Sting releases new blues tune backed by new trio

OHMYGOSSIP — Sting has released his first new song since his 2021 album ‘The Bridge’.
The former Police star has shared ‘I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)’, which boasts a blues beat inspired by Bo Diddley’s 1955 single ‘Bo Diddley Beat’, and sees him sing, play bass and guitar.
He’s joined by Dominic Miller on guitar, Chris Maas on drums and Martin Kierszenbaum on organ.
Dominic and Chris were recently unveiled as the members of the legendary musician’s new trio, STING 3.0, and will headline BBC’s Radio 2 In The Park concert in Preston, England, on Saturday (07.09.24).
They will then kick off a North American tour on September 17 and 18 at the Fillmore Theater in Detroit, Michigan.
Chris was the touring drummer for Mumford and Sons, and Dominic is Sting’s longtime collaborator and touring guitarist.
The trio will perform Sting’s biggest hits and play multiple nights at some venues.
Meanwhile, Billy Joel recently revealed that his dream supergroup would include Sting, Don Henley, and “maybe” John Mayer.
The ‘Piano Man’ named the ‘Shape of My Heart’ hitmaker, the Eagles rocker, and the ‘Half of My Heart’ star as the musicians he’d recruit to form the ultimate all-star ensemble.
Howard Stern asked him: “Wouldn’t it have been great if George Harrison and Tom Petty had asked you to be in The Travelling Wilburys?”
The Travelling Wilburys, the legendary roots rock supergroup, comprised Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, and the late George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.
However, Joel suggested: “Me, Don Henley and Sting. And maybe John Mayer on guitar.”
Asked why he never got around to forming the group, he replied: “Well, everybody’s busy.”
Stern then said Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney would make a good member.
However, Joel insisted: “He was in the super-est group of all-time. I don’t have the nerve to do that.”
But he did say his bandmate, Sir Ringo Starr, would be cool as the drummer.
Sting opened for the ‘Uptown Girl’ hitmaker at select shows of his North American tour.

Neil Young and Stephen Stills reuniting for charity concert

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young bandmates Neil Young and Stephen Stills are set to reunite for a charity event.
The pair were part of the iconic folk-rock supergroup – which also included Graham Nash, 82, and the late David Crosby – and they will be back together at the annual Harvest Moon fundraiser at Lake Hughes in California on October 5.
The event will raise funds for Bridge School and the late Paul Newman’s Painted Turtle Camp for young people with serious medical conditions.
Painted Turtle executive director April Tani said: “This event not only brings together amazing musicians and families, but also raises vital funds for two organisations committed to changing lives. It’s a day of music, fun, and philanthropy — what could be better?”
Young, 78, and Stills, 79, will be joined by special guests for their “individual sets”, plus there is a special “sunset performance” lined up.
The organisers said: “As the day progresses, Neil Young and Stephen Stills will take the stage for individual sets, joined by other talented performers to be announced. The event will culminate with a sunset performance, creating a magical atmosphere for all who attend. The festival-like day will also feature family-friendly activities, including face painting, food trucks, and much more.”
The pair reunited for the first time in four years last year at Stills’ annual Light Up The Blues fundraiser for Autism Speaks.
They performed Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s ‘Helpless’, covers of Buffalo Springfield’s ‘For What It’s Worth’, ‘Bluebird’ and ‘Mr. Soul’, accompanied by Joe Walsh, before wrapping with ‘Long May You Run’ from their joint 1976 LP of the same name.
Still also paid tribute to their late bandmate, Crosby, who died aged 81 in January last year, by performing their song ‘Wooden Ships’.
