OHMYGOSSIP — Alanis Morissette pulled out of the Rock and Roll Fame of Fame induction ceremony because she doesn’t want to “spend time in an environment that reduces women”.
The ‘Ironic’ hitmaker had been set to duet with Olivia Rodrigo on ‘You’re So Vain’ as a tribute to inductee Carly Simon at the ceremony on Saturday (05.11.22), but she wasn’t included on the final set list and the 19-year-old singer performed solo.
In a statement this week, Alanis praised Carly and Olivia but claimed she had “sucked it up on more occasions that I can count”.
Writing on her Instagram Story, she said: “I have spent decades in an industry that is rife with an overarching anti-woman sentiment and have tolerated a lot of condescension and disrespectfulness, reduction, dismissiveness, contract-breaching, unsupportiveness, exploitation and psychological violence (and more) throughout my career…
“I tolerated it because nothing would stop me from connecting with those whom I cared about and resonated with.
“I live to serve and connect with people and so over the years I sucked it up on more occasions than I can count in order to do so.
“It’s hard not to be affected in any industry around the world, but Hollywood has been notorious for its disrespect of the feminine in all of us.
“Thankfully, I am at a point in my life where there is no need for me to spend time in an environment that reduces women.”
Alanis – who was speaking to clarify “some mis-informed rumblings” about her absence from the show, which she wasn’t advertised for – insisted she will show up to inclusive events “with bells on”.
She continued: “I have had countless incredible experiences with production teams with all genders throughout my life. So many, and so fun.
“There is nothing better than a team of diverse people coming together with one mission. I’ll continue to show up in those environments with bells on.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica, Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon will headline next year’s Download Festival.
The spectacle will celebrate 20 years in 2023, and to mark the milestone there will be four headline sets for the first time ever, with Metallica set to deliver two no-repeat performances on Thursday 8th June 2023 and Saturday 10th June 2023.
Metallica said: “We are next-level honoured to once again come back and partake in the Download shenanigans on the hallowed grounds of Castle Donington, which has an unparalleled place in rock history.
“On top of that, to be able to share our double show format with two completely unique sets with no repeat songs for the first time ever in the UK is way f****** cool. Bring it on!”
Download will take place from June 8-11 2023 at Donington Park, Leicestershire.
Bring Me The Horizon will headline the music extravaganza Friday June 9th 2023, and Slipknot will close the event on Sunday June 11th 2023.

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher has teased his new album will drop in May 2023.
The former Oasis frontman surprised fans last week by releasing the lead single ‘Pretty Boy’, and during a discussion about his favourite football team, Man City, the 55-year-old rocker let slip when the next High Flying Birds album will be out.
Noel is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as telling an Italian radio station: “The team is doing good, we’re having a good season.
“Hopefully we will be in Istanbul around when my new album is out next May, so that would be good.
“It would be absolutely perfect. That’s the time of my birthday so it could well be the best birthday ever.
“I can’t say what the album is called yet though.”
Noel praised Johnny for taking the tune “somewhere special”.
He said in a statement: “For this new record it was the first thing I wrote, the first thing I demoed and the first thing I finished, so it’s only right that it’s the first thing people get to hear. Massive shout out to my mainest man Johnny Marr for taking it somewhere special.”
Noel, who is reluctant to feature in his own music promos, also teased: “Oh … and watch out for a cameo from me in the video … first one to spot me wins a bag of Flamin’ Hot Wotsits Giants!!”
The new record will be the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Who Built The Moon?’.
Meanwhile, the ‘Some Might Say’ hitmaker also revealed he’d like to follow in his pal Johnny’s footsteps and record a James Bond theme.
He said: “I would love to do a James Bond theme tune . . . and maybe some porn movies. I’m up for anything.”
The former Smiths guitarist – who plays lead guitar on ‘Pretty Boy’ – is featured on Billie Eilish’s 2021 Bond theme ‘No Time To Die’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Urban had previously said no to doing a Las Vegas residency.
The 55-year-old musician was against the idea of repeating the same show over-and-over-again at the same venue, but his 2019 stint at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Sin City quickly changed his mind.
Speaking to PEOPLE, he said: “I was asked to do it earlier but always said no because to me a residency sounded a little bit like an episode of ‘Severance’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know that I’m built for this.’
“I need freneticism and unpredictability, and I need a certain energy. When we finally went and did the residency at the end of 2019, I loved it and I was transformed.”
The ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ hitmaker is gearing up for another residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood, which will see him play 16 nights between March 3, 2023, and July 1.
And fans may hear some new music at the ‘Keith Urban: The Las Vegas Residency Show’.
Keith – who is married to Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman – hinted: “I’ve probably got maybe half a dozen or more songs that have all been finished mixed, done, ready to go.”
Keith – whose last studio album was 2020’s ‘The Speed of Now Part 1.’ – admits there is more than one way to “define a hit” these days, with the rise of social media platforms such as TikTok, which can make it hard to decide the best way to release music.
He explained: “It’s tricky because there’s no centre anymore. There was a time when you would say, ‘Well OK, here’s the trajectory: We’re gonna take this song to radio; we’re gonna shoot a music video; we’re gonna put that on ‘CMT’ — there was a sequence to everything.
“But there’s so many portals and platforms and ways to get new music out, from TikTok and all the social media platforms to obviously filming a video or maybe just doing a lyric video. Maybe you do a little snippet or a live version and then something that’s officially a single for radio, and then another one that you’re not really going to take to radio.”
He added: “There’s just infinite ways. And when someone says, ‘Well, was that song a hit?’ You go, ‘There’s like 20 different ways to define what a hit is these days.'”

The annual festive extravaganza returns to London’s O2 arena on December 10 and 11, and joining the rappers and pop superstar on the second night are George Ezra, Tiësto, Joel Corry, Becky Hill, and MistaJam and Friends (LF System, Eliza Rose and Belters Only).
Stormzy told Capital Breakfast’s Roman Kemp, Sian Welby, Chris Stark and Sonny Jay: “I’m really excited. It’s gonna be a great show. The energy is second to none, everyone who comes, they come raring!”
Lewis Capaldi, Coldplay and Sam Smith were among the first acts confirmed for night one.

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Gabriel has announced his first European tour in almost a decade.
The 72-year-old musician – who is the original lead singer of prog rock group Genesis – is set to hit the road next spring for the 22-date ‘i/o The Tour’, which kicks off on May 18 in Krakow, Poland.
Fans can expect new material from Peter’s forthcoming album ‘i/o’ – the follow-up to 2011’s ‘New Blood’ – alongside old classics.
He said: “It’s been a while and I am now surrounded by a whole lot of new songs and am excited to be taking them out on the road for a spin. Look forward to seeing you out there.”
The ‘Sledgehammer’ hitmaker will be joined on the run by his regular band members Tony Levin, David Rhodes and Manu Katché.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Wilson has apologised for letting fans down at a gig over the weekend after falling on “old drinking habits”.
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman – who revealed three years ago that he had quit drinking – sparked concern among fans at the band’s O2 Arena show in London on Saturday night (05.11.22) during which he appeared to be slurring his words and staggering on stage.
In a statement, the ‘Ruby’ hitmaker said: “I don’t want to make any lame excuses, I’ve met some challenges in this life I’ve led and stayed on top of them with the support I’ve always had around me.
“I made a mistake on Saturday night at the O2 and relied on old drinking habits. It’s a mistake that upset and disappointed many of you and those closest to me.
“I try to take pride in not letting people down and seem to have let myself down in that respect the other night.
“I’m doing everything that is necessary for me not to let that happen again – and will continue to.”
One fan had decribed the gig as a “shambles”, while another said they were “truly disappointed”.
The first gig-goer tweeted: “Drunk and disorderly performance is an understatement for what I witnessed tonight. Such a shambles. Unfortunately, this has to be the worst live performance I’ve ever seen in my life.”
The band are currently on tour across the UK after releasing new single ‘How 2 Dance’ last week.
Back in 2019 Ricky, now 44, revealed he had gone teetotal after recognising his issues with alcohol.
He said at the time: “On a personal level, I think it was bad. Enough to want to stop.
“But in the grand music industry scheme of things I think I drank less than most people spilled.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake and 21 Savage are being sued by the publishers of Vogue magazine.
Conde Nast have filed a lawsuit against the stars for allegedly using the fashion bible’s name without permission to promote their new album, ‘Her Loss’, and argued the musicians’ publicity campaign was build “entirely” on the unauthorised use of Vogue trademarks and false claims they would appear on the next cover of the publication with the “love and support” of editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
A complaint filed in Manhattan federal court earlier this week argued the pair had exploited the “tremendous value that a cover feature in Vogue magazine carries” and added: “All of this is false. And none of it has been authorised by Conde Nast…
“Vogue magazine and its Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour have had no involvement in Her Loss or its promotion, and have not endorsed it in any way.
“Nor did Condé Nast authorize, much less support, the creation and widespread dissemination of a counterfeit issue of Vogue, or a counterfeit version of perhaps one of the most carefully curated covers in all of the publication business.”
The publishers said Drake and Savage created a fake issue of the magazine which was distributed in major metropolitan areas, accompanied by posters that mimicked Vogue’s layout.
They argued this resulted in “unmistakable” confusion among members of the public, including media outlets which hailed the pair as the magazine’s “new cover stars”.
Conde Nast, which is also known as Advance Magazine Publishers Inc., are seeking at least $4 million in damages or triple the stars’ profits from their album and “counterfeit” magazine.
They are also claiming for punitive damages and an end to any trademark infringement.
The publishers said they have tried repeatedly since 31 October to resolve the issues without taking legal action.
They said: “[The] defendants’ flippant disregard for Condé Nast’s rights have left it with no choice but to commence this action.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain never expected ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman!’ to become an all-time karaoke anthem.
The 57-year-old singer still can’t believe her iconic 1999 track has been recognised by Billboard as the greatest karaoke song of all time, and she noted its “feel-good” appeal.
Appearing on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ this week, she said: “I think that is so cool. Certainly I would never have imagined that, that I would ever have the biggest karaoke song in the world.
“But I enjoy the compliment and I can just imagine… I mean, every person in the world can sing that song with an exclamation mark.
“It’s just a statement, kind of feel-good song.”
Meanwhile, Shania previously admitted turning her life story – which, as well as her long career, includes growing up in a violent home, losing her parents in a car crash and her first husband cheating on her with her best friend – into a movie could be on the cards, while her songs would make a great soundtrack for a stage show.
Asked about the possibility of a biopic or a musical, she said: “Yes. Both of those things are possibly in the future.
“All sorts of things are in the pipeline. I’m writing songs all the time and the Netflix documentary [‘Not Just A Girl’] has been a huge talking point in my life and career.
“There’s all sorts of things coming up but things I probably can’t talk about right now. But I’ve got a very busy few years ahead of me.”
The Canadian singer – who has son Eja, 21, with ex-husband Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange and is married to Frederic Thiebaud – spent a long time in London working on her new album but has ruled out a permanent move to the UK because she wouldn’t be able to secure her dream home.
She explained: “If I could live at the stables in Hyde Park, I would. I just want to live next to the horses each morning.
“That’s been my dream for many, many years and I’ve asked a lot of people but I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Warwick was “honoured” to join Dan McCafferty on tour.
The Black Star Riders and Thin Lizzy frontman has paid tribute to the late Nazareth frontman – whom he joined on the road six years ago – following his death this week aged 76.
He tweeted after the sad news: “Very sad to hear of the passing of Nazareth’s Dan McCafferty today.
“I was honoured to be in his company on the Rock Meets Classic Tour in 2016. My thoughts and condolences to his family and close friends.”
On Tuesday (08.11.22), his death was announced by former bandmate Pete Agnet.
In a Facebook post, the Nazareth bassist wrote: “Dan died at 12:40 today. This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make.
“Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Too upset to say anything more at this time.”
Dan was a founding member of Nazareth and sang for the band from their formation in 1968 until he retired from touring in 2013 due to health issues.
He appeared on all of their albums up to 2014, with his final Nazareth record being that year’s ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Telephone’.
Three years ago, he dropped his third and final solo album ‘Last Testament’, which followed his 1975 self titled collection, and 1987’s ‘Into The Ring’.
Discussing his health struggles, McCafferty once said: “You don’t know when it’s going to come on, but suddenly you can’t breathe.”
On the other hand, he explained that his health issues didn’t stop him from writing and recording new music.
He shared: “To go into a studio and sing isn’t like doing a gig.
“I could always make another record, but getting up to do an hour and three-quarters, and get people to pay money to come and see me – I can’t do that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Who are headlining a special Christmas carol service over the festive season.
The ‘Pinball Wizard’ legends will lead music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins’ annual service with a special acoustic performance at St. Luke’s Church in Chelsea on December 13.
As well as the set by Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, the evening – which is sponsored by Hipgnosis Songs for the third year – will feature other artists, including classical stars and up and coming talent, as well as celebrities delivering festive readings.
In a statement, Pete said: “Christmas is a magical time and we’re so pleased to be sharing some of our favourite songs and festive music at this year’s Nordoff Robbins Carol Service.
“Nordoff Robbins really can help people to break through barriers with music, so even the most physically or mentally isolated can connect with others and realise their true potential.
“We know from our lifelong experience making music that where words fail, music speaks – and that’s why Nordoff Robbins’ work is so important to us.”
His bandmate Roger added: “What Nordoff Robbins does with music makes such a positive change to people’s lives – which is why we’re supporting them at this very special Christmas service.
“Music is our shared language and is incredibly powerful, and music therapy can reconnect people who may otherwise feel isolated or disconnected from the world – whether a young person with autism, a person living with dementia, or somebody rebuilding their lives after an accident.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Simz has teased the possibility of working on new music.
The 28-year-old musician – whose fourth album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ won this year’s Mercury Prize – admitted fans can look forward to new material “eventually”, but she’s still staying coy.
Asked by Rolling Stone magazine if she’s writing new tunes, she laughed: “Could be. There will be more to come eventually.”
Little Simz insisted she wants to keep her plans to herself for the time being.
She explained: “I’m a public figure, in a way, but I’m a private person. I also think people value mystery.
“You don’t have to share everything, you know? Or you stagger it. I might share stuff that I’m going through now in 20 years.”
The star is also focusing on her acting ambitions, having already played Shelley in Netflix’s ‘Top Boy’ revival along with other projects.
She added: “For me, the idea is to be stretched, and not repetitive.”
Last month, Little Simz triumphed at the Mercury Prize ceremony and admitted the award left her felling “humbled”.
She tweeted at the time: “Incredibly grateful and humbled. Mad journey. Thank you for the love, still processing so I don’t have many words but from the bottom of my heart thank you.”
Earlier in the year, the singer and rapper was forced to reschedule her US tour due to financial concerns.
She explained: “I take my live shows seriously and would only want to give you guys nothing but the best of me.
“Being an independent artist, I pay for everything encompassing my live performances out of my own pocket and touring the US for a month would leave me in a huge deficit.
“As much as this pains me to not see you at this time, I’m just not able to put myself through that mental stress.
“It’s important for me to speak my truth about this and be honest. I appreciate the love and excitement you guys have for seeing me live. Rest assured I will be there soon, back bigger and better.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Guns N’ Roses are in talks to headline Glastonbury.
The ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ hitmakers have never performed at the world famous festival but look set to take to the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm in Somerset next summer, much to the delight of organisers.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It’s hard to find earth-shaking bands that have not performed on the Pyramid Stage before and Guns N’ Roses are up with there with the all-time greats.
“The booking has been a long time coming and it looks likely that it’s finally going to come together.
“It will be a much-needed Glasto addition for hard-rock fans.”
The outlet also reported Sir Elton John is looking to make changes to the schedule of his farewell tour in order to fit in an appearance at the festival.
Organiser Emily Eavis admitted last year she would love to get the US rockers – who are currently on tour in Asia and performed in the UK last summer – on board for the festival.
She said: “I think Guns N’ Roses need to play here at some point, don’t they?”
While the ‘November Rain’ group have never appeared together at the festival, in 2010, guitarist Slash performed on the Pyramid Stage and later revealed he had accidentally found himself in the middle of the crowd.
He said: “My security guard and I mistook the backstage area for the front.
“The next thing, we were in the midst of the ticket-buying public, which was an interesting experience.
“I always thought it would be cool to dress in some sort of disguise and go wandering around the crowd.”
Other artists rumoured to be playing at the festival next year include Arctic Monkeys, Rihanna and Eminem.
A source recently said of the ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker: “Rihanna has been approached about Glastonbury and next year’s festival would be just the right timing for her.
“She is a huge name for Worthy Farm and would be the perfect addition to the line-up.
“Everything about Rihanna’s music comeback is being closely guarded but her team has been talking with the Eavis family.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandra Burke is drawing on her debut album, ‘Overcome’, as she works on new music.
The ‘Bad Boys’ hitmaker – who shot to fame in 2008 after winning the fifth series of ‘The X Factor’ – released her most recent collection, ‘The Truth Is’, back in 2018, but she has gone back to her “poppy and upbeat” roots for her next offering.
Speaking to the December 2022 issue of Retro Pop magazine, out now, Alexandra reveals she’s hard at work in the studio on new material, which “harks back” to her first album.
She said: “I started it during lockdown at my home studio and it’s so joyful.
“If it can turn someone’s down day into a day that is positive and it makes them want to get up and dance, it means I’ve done my job.”
The ‘Hallelujah’ singer added: “It’s so upbeat and poppy and in your face. I want to give people positive energy and positive vibes.”
Alexandra is currently celebrating shifting one million copies of ‘Overcome’ with a deluxe vinyl reissue, due November 18 on Cooking Vinyl.
The album features the No. 1 hits ‘Bad Boys’ and ‘Start Without You’, alongside her chart-topping cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ – a track she originally had reservations about recording.
She explained: “When I got given ‘Hallelujah’, I didn’t think it was for me.
“I called my mum to tell her and she said, ‘Call me back when my daughter’s on the phone,’ and hung up.
“After listening to it again I rang her back and said, ‘I’m going to Whitney-fy this, turn it around, gospel, I’m gonna go for it,’ and she went, ‘That’s my child’.”
Following its release, ‘Hallelujah’ landed Alexandra the Christmas No.1 spot and she went on to work with a plethora of stars on her debut LP.
She said: “Here’s the thing: You’re hardly ever in the studio at the same time.
“I never got the chance to meet Pitbull, for example, but I never thought in my wildest dreams that I’d get to work with people like him, as well as all these massive producers.
“I did get to know Ne-Yo well. When I saw him last year at the Pride of Britain Awards, the first thing I said to him was, ‘Babe, we have to reconnect and collaborate again or do something’. He was like, ‘Yes, let’s do it’. Then I fell pregnant and it never happened, but it will happen, by the grace of God, if he’s got time and I’ve got time. I would definitely make time to work with Ne-Yo again because he’s wonderful’.”
Another star she spent time with following their powerhouse duet on ‘The X Factor’ is Beyoncé, who offered her some words of wisdom as she recorded tracks at Jay-Z’s studio.
Alexandra recalled: “She was so lovely and supportive, and she gave me advice about certain tracks and about being an artist. Her biggest thing was, ‘Enjoy the process.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig David was “in awe” when David Bowie gave him permission to sample ‘Let’s Dance’.
The Garage King used the 1983 classic on his 2007 hit ‘Hot Stuff (Let’s Dance)’, and he was blown away by how “super humble” the late music legend was to accept the request as he could have easily said no.
He said: “I was in awe.
“It showed me as an artist he can still be really super humble with that and be like, ‘Yeah, I can forward this to you,’ rather than ‘No, no, no, no, no – you can’t touch any of this.’”
The ‘7 Days’ hitmaker went on to hail the ‘Starman’ hitmaker as a catalyst for change in culture, just like the late Prince and George Michael.
He continued: “He was changing the culture, he was speaking his truth at the same time as recording amazing music, and there was just this full immersive love and respect for him as an artist; of what he created.”
Craig added to musicfeeds.com.au: “I get that same feeling for what Prince was advocating, and what he was fighting for, too; in the same way with [what] George Michael was fighting for, too… It’s like you start to see these people left a lasting legacy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles pulled out of his Los Angeles concert just hours before he was due on stage on Saturday (05.11.22) night.
The ‘As It Was’ hitmaker had already postponed his show at The Kia Forum on Friday (04.11.22) “due to band illness”, but on Saturday he revealed he was battling flu and has had no choice but to pull out of his gigs planned at the venue for that evening and the following two days.
He revealed on his Instagram Story: “Towards the end of the show on Wednesday I started feeling ill and I’ve been in bed with the flu ever since.
“I’ve been doing everything I can to be able to sing tonight, but I’m leaving the doctor now and I’m devastated that it’s just not possible.
“I’m sorry this news is coming so close to show time, but it was my sincerest hope to be able to play for you tonight.
“I know several of you have planned trips to LA to see the show, and it means the absolute world to me.”
The 28-year-old singer is hoping to continue his tour later this week, while the postponed shows will now take place at the end of January.
He added: “Everything else will play as planned. I can’t wait to see you then, and I’m so sorry. All my love.”
This isn’t the first time Harry’s US tour has been disrupted at short notice.
Last month, the ‘Music for a Sushi Restaurant’ singer postponed the first of his six concerts in Chicago “out of an abundance of caution” when someone in his entourage fell ill.
A message from the United Center revealed at the time: “Out of an abundance of caution, tonight’s Harry Styles show on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at United Center has been rescheduled to Monday, October 10, 2022 due to band/crew illness.
“All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. All additional show dates will play as scheduled. An email from Ticketmaster will be sent directly to ticket holders with more info. (sic)”
In a later message, the venue confirmed fans who had received wristbands while in the queue could retain their places for the new gig.
They clarified on their website: “The numbered wristbands given on Thursday, Oct. 6 for GA will be honoured on the rescheduled date of Monday, Oct. 10. Guests can line up in the previous order given as long as they arrive before 5 PM on Monday, Oct. 10. Any numbered wristband arriving after 5 PM will be placed in line after the last guest in line.
“Original numbered wristband must be presented on Monday, Oct. 10 to be honoured. Guests without previous numbered wristbands will be placed in line after the last guest in line.”
