OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie C has a strong “friendship” with Billie Eilish with the pair bonding over the “pressures” of fame.
The Spice Girls singer went from being a fan of the 20-year-old pop star to being pals with her, and Billie has been grateful to receive advice from the 48-year-old music legend.
The ‘Wannabe’ hitmaker said: “I just felt like I had such a connection to Billie. That’s been something that we’ve really shared, bonded and have a friendship over.
“I’ve spoken to Billie about the pressures. I often think when I speak to younger artists, they’re gonna be like, ‘Oh, yeah, shut up, grandma!’ But Billie’s taking it on board and has talked about it too.
“I think what’s been a wonderful thing I’ve seen changing in the industry is – and I still think there’s a way to go – that some labels and management teams are taking the mental health and physical health of their artists more seriously. There is more support now that didn’t exist in the ’90s. We’re seeing artists pulling shows because of their mental or physical health. You know, that wasn’t an option. I had to get on with it.”
One motivation for Melanie to write her book ‘Who I Am: My Story’ was to share her experiences of living with an eating disorder and struggling with depression to let people know that it is OK to openly discuss your mental health issues.
Mel – also known as Sporty Spice – said: “Part of the reason that I wrote my book is because I have experienced these things, and been through a lot of pain. And if people can maybe avoid some of the pitfalls by my experiences, then that feels good. You know, it feels like it wasn’t in vain.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Atomic Kitten wore rainbow armbands for their World Cup 2022 performance.
The ‘Tide Is High’ hitmakers – made up of Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon – took to the stage at Boxpark in Croydon before Tuesday’s (29.11.22) England win over Wales and showed their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Their gesture came after footballers including Three Lions captain Harry Kane were told they would be given a yellow card if they sported the One Love armband during the tournament in Qatar, where same sex relations are illegal.
Natasha and Liz sported rainbow armbands as they belted out the Gareth Southgate-inspired version of their 2000 hit ‘Whole Again’ alongside aa life sized cardboard cutout of the England manager.
The track was given a new lease of life when fans adapted it into a chant for the 2018 World Cup.
The lyrics “Baby you’re the one, you still turn me on, you can make me whole again” were changed to “Southgate, you’re the one, you still turn me on, football’s coming home again”.
Last year, Atomic Kitten re-released the song as part of the delayed Euro 2020 tournament.
Liz prevously said: “This time three years ago, England were playing in the World Cup because I started being sent videos from three years ago with people singing the song.
“People were singing it in a pub but it was quite tentative. Whereas fast-forward three years, everyone’s singing it! It’s kind of been a slow burner over three years, which is very bizarre to think.
“It was the fans that changed the words and everyone was like, ‘You’ve got to sing it girls.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Noddy Holder’s wife is haunted by ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’ when she does her Christmas shopping.
The 76-year-old Slade legend’s wife Suzan admitted she finds her festive shopping trips “a bizarre experience” as she hears her husband’s voice over the speakers when she’s trying to find him the perfect gift.
Writing in her column for Cheshire Life magazine, she said: “Trying to do my Christmas shopping is often a bizarre experience as my husband’s voice follows me everywhere I go.
“I’ll be hunting for something suitable for ‘him indoors’ and there he’ll be blasting from a speaker. It’s very distracting.”
The couple – who have 27-year-old son Django together – have been married for 32 years, and the 56-year-old ‘Loose Women’ producer turned novelist revealed he shouts his iconic “It’s Christmas” line at her every December 25.
She added: “Christmas a deux with Noddy Holder has its moments and, yes, he does wake me up on December 25 by bellowing… can you guess?
“If you think it’s loud on the record, you have no idea.”
Slade’s 1973 hit has become a seasonal classic, and Suzan reflected on the way its become such a staple.
She said: “Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would end up married to a man as synonymous with Christmas (almost) as much as Santa himself.
“Slade’s ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’ will be 50 years old next year. The track is now as much part of Christmas as crackers and cranberry sauce.”
There’s no escape for Noddy either when he’s out and about, and she joked “it’s as if the playlist senses his presence” when he’s out shopping, which used to delight their son when he was about four years old.
She recalled: “Django decided to sing along while shouting, ‘It’s your song, Daddy! Daddy it’s YOU!’ Noddy said he had to scarper as Django’s antics began to draw a crowd.”

The ‘Big for Your Boots’ hitmaker’s third studio LP ‘This Is What I Mean’ sees him take his music in a new direction, and he is open to trying anything as an artist regardless of other people’s opinions.
Speaking to host Julie Adenuga for ‘Stormzy: This Is What I Mean – Live From the Queen Elizabeth Hall’ – an immersive showcase of Stormzy’s latest album presented by Amazon Music’s +44 – he said: “If I want to make a dancehall album, if I want to make a country album, I’ll do it.”
The show was filmed on Tuesday night (29.11.22) and will be available to watch on Wednesday night (30.11.22) via the Amazon Music UK Twitch channel (Twitch.tv/amazonmusicuk) and Prime Video at 7pm GMT.
During the show, Stormzy discussed his new era in his own words, and answered questions from a star-studded crowd which included Wretch 32, Sampha, Mo Gilligan, Zeze Millz, Jazzie B, Avelino, Michael Dapaah and more.
When asked by Wretch 32 how he settled on the final tracklist for ‘This Is What I Mean’, he said: “Music should be testament to feeling – if it felt good, we did it.”
As well as performing new album tracks ‘Please’, ‘Give It To The Water’ and ‘My Presidents Are Black’ from for the first time ever, Stormzy also discussed the musicality of the record and his creative process.
The 29-year-old rapper insisted he wasn’t looking for validation from the LP, and hailed it the most “selfish album” he’s made to date.
The final question of the evening came from British soul legend Gabrielle, who asked what Stormzy wants his legacy to be. Paraphrasing Zadie Smith, he said he “hopes he contributes to the vast river of British music, culture and art”.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Rolling Stones are releasing a live ‘greatest hits’ style album celebrating their 60 year career.
The ‘(I can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ legends – made up of Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and late drummer Charlie Watts – have announced plans to unveil ‘GRRR Live!’, recorded during the group’s 50th anniversary tour in 2012.
A decade ago on December 15, the band took to the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for the last of four shows in the New York are as part of the ’50 And Counting Tour’.
The now iconic concert – which has been re-edited and remixed for the upcoming release – featured guest appearances from the likes of Bruce Springsteen on ‘Tumbling Dice’, and Lady Gaga on ‘Gimme Shelter’.
Other surprise stars included The Black Keys (‘Who Do You Love?’), Gary Clark Jr. and John Mayer (‘Going Down’) and Mick Taylor (‘Midnight Rambler’).
The show aired on pay per view in 2012, but hasn’t been available to fans until now, with various formats due to drop on February 10, 2023.
As well as three LP packages – black, white and red – there will also be a double CD version, as well as options for a double CD edition with either a BluRay or DVD of the gig.
As well as the show in full, three tracks from the December 13 show – also in Newark – will be available as bonus features on the DVD and Blu-Ray editions.
Those three bonus tracks will be a collaboration with John Mayer on ‘Respectable’, as well as performances of ‘Gimme Shelter’ and ‘Around And Around’.
The Rolling Stones’ ‘GRRR Live!’ will be released on multiple physical and digital fortmas by Mercury Studios on February 10, 2023.

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles’ hit ‘As It Was’ has been named Spotify’s most streamed song of 2022.
The former One Direction star finds himself at the top of the streaming platform’s rankings for listeners around the world, with his huge hit hitting close to 1.6 billion global streams.
Spotify has unveiled its 2022 Wrapped campaign, and revealed its own stats for the top artists, songs, albums and podcasts.
As well as topping the songs list, Harry found himself seventh in the rankings for top artists globally, with Bad Bunny ruling the roost for a record breaking the third year in a row with more than 18 billion streams.
Bad Bunny’s album ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ tops the albums list just ahead of ‘Harry’s House’, while the former has three tracks in the songs list.
Meanwhile, ‘Anti-Hero’ hitmaker Taylor Swift is in second place for the global artist list, while she’s topping the charts for listeners in the UK.
Her new album ‘Midnights’ – which dropped last month – helped propel her to 805 million streams in the UK alone, with Drake, Ed Sheeran, Harry and Kanye West making up the rest of the UK’s top 5 artists.
Globally, Bad Bunny and Taylor are followed by Drake, The Weekend BTS, with Ed Sheeran and Harry just missing out in sixth and seventh place.
There are also plenty of love for new releases, with the UK’s top five albums all current releases, while Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Sour’ the only one over 18 months old.

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Simz and Knucks were named as the joint winners of the Best Album accolade at the Mobo Awards in London on Wednesday (30.11.22).
The 28-year-old rap star and Knucks became the first artists to ever share the award in the history of the Mobos, which seek to honour achievements in music of black origin.
The judges explained that both artists “showed where British rap can go, both production-wise and lyrically”.
Simz was recognised for her album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’, while Knucks received acclaimed for his record ‘Alpha Place’.
Simz lost out on the Best Female Act award to PinkPantheress, while Central Cee won in the Best Male Act category.
Meanwhile, Nigerian star Burna Boy won two awards on the night, including Best International and Best African Act.
Elsewhere, Craig David received a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to British music.
The 41-year-old star – who released his debut album, ‘Born to Do It’, in 2000 – dedicated the accolade to his dad.
The chart-topping singer – who won his first Mobo Award 22 years ago – said at London’s Wembley Arena: “Thank you to my dad, who was part of the Windrush era. He came over to this country and he experienced racism, he experienced being bullied … but he nurtured me and showed me love.
“He always said to me, ‘Never dim your light’. And I love you dad for that, because that’s served me so well throughout my life.”
Nile Rodgers received a lifetime achievement gong, too.
And the 70-year-old star – who was born in New York – admitted that he’s always been made to at home in the UK capital.
He said: “The UK has always supported me and always supported my efforts when sometimes in America racism played a part in my development.
“I always say to people, I have been swimming upstream my entire life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Marr has written a new song for Blondie’s upcoming album.
The Smiths legend has worked with the ‘Maria’ rockers in the past after writing their track ‘My Monster’ as well as joining them on stage, and he’s hoping they use his latest tune on the new record.
Appearing on ‘The Line-Up with Shaun Keaveny’, he said: “I’ve written another new one for the new current record that they’re recording.
“I don’t know whether it will end up on the album, you never know. But they seemed to really like it…”
Johnny – who has also appeared in bands like Modest Mouse in the past – admitted working with Blondie is “a new level of wow” when he hears singer Debbie Harry belting out his words.
He explained: “It’s a new level of wow for me because they are my lyrics, Debbie’s singing my lyrics and then she what wanted another one, because ‘My Monster’ I wrote specifically for Blondie and then you know, it went well.
“So then they asked me if I got any more. So I wrote another one for Blondie. But they took so long recording it, I did it myself. It was on the B side of a seven inch single.
“I wasn’t about to put it on an album, just in case, but that’s called Spectral Eyes. And it’s again, it was one that I specifically wrote for Blondie.
“So on a lyrical level, you know that people covering songs that I write the words to you is you know, that’s something I never imagined, really frankly.”
Johnny has been in plenty of bands over the years, and he loves being able to “hop around”.
He said: “That’s just me having my cake and eating it frankly, because the bands that I’ve been invited to either work with on a temporary basis or certainly join – I mean, who would turn down being the guitar player in The The in 1990 or ’88, whenever it was I did it, with Matt who is one of the closest people in my life and also given what was going on in my personal life, behind the scenes with The Smiths split.
“Who wouldn’t want to go out and be the guitar player in The Pretenders and Chrissy that again was what people don’t quite realise is that has a massive impact on my personal life as well and forming these relationships.”

The 19-year-old singer has thanked her fans for listening to her tunes this year, and admitted she is “so excited” for all the new music “that 2023 will bring”.
Speaking to her supporters in a recorded message that was sent to her top listeners on Spotify, to coincide with this year’s Spotify Wrapped, she said: “I just wanted to say thank you so much for listening to my music this year.
“I really, truly couldn’t be more grateful and I am so excited for next year, and all of the new things and new music that 2023 will bring.”
Olivia has already tasted huge success on the streaming platform this year, becoming the first female artist to have three solo songs on a single album reach a billion streams on Spotify.
She made history after her third hit record from ‘SOUR’, ‘deja vu’, exceeded the one-billion mark on the streaming platform, according to a tweet by Chart Data. ‘drivers license’ and ‘good 4 u’ also crossed the milestone.
Olivia’s producer Dan Nigro shared a studio snap of the pair on his Instagram Story in August, confirming a previous report that they are hard at work on the follow-up to ‘SOUR’.
After the whirlwind success of her record-breaking debut LP, the singer reunited with the studio wizard behind all but one of the 11 tracks on the chart-topping 2021 record.
A source recently said: “Olivia’s debut was one of the biggest in years. She really did something special when she was in the studio with Dan. She wants the follow-up to evolve her sound so it isn’t exactly the same.
“But she feels like she and Dan are a dream team when they get in the studio, so she is hoping they can make more magic together.
“Olivia had a few weeks off after the tour finished but she is champing at the bit to make headway on the second album.
“The last 18 months have been a complete whirlwind and while there is no rush to get new music out, she doesn’t want to leave it too long.”

The ‘I Wanna Get Better’ musician and Zem Audu performed an acoustic medley of Bleachers songs during the ‘If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)’ hitmaker’s concert at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Tuesday (29.11.22).
Matty Healy and the band performed their new album ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’ in full, before taking a break.
Jack and Zem took to the stage to play ‘All My Heroes’ from Bleachers’ second album ‘Gone Now’, and ‘Rollercoaster’ from 2014 debut ‘Strange Desire’.
After the interlude, The 1975 returned to perform another set of 12 songs.
Meanwhile, the ‘I’m In Love With You’ singer recently claimed the group “worked on” a different version of Taylor Swift’s hit album ‘Midnights’, which hasn’t seen the light of day.
During a recent appearance on Kroq’s ‘DTS Sound Space’ being interviewed in front of a live audience, Matty was asked if he got to hear the pop megastar’s latest album before it was released.
He let slip: “Yeah. We actually worked a bit on that. But then [that] version of it never came out.”
His response was met with boos, but he swiftly explained: “No, no, no – that’s not how it works. It [didn’t work out] for reasons that are not to be criticised. She’s amazing.”
The month prior to October’s ‘Midnights’ being released, a fake track-listing leaked online with The 1975 listed as a featured artist on the track ‘In My Dreams’.
However, Matty insisted it wasn’t real and that they hadn’t worked with the ‘Karma’ hitmaker, though they’d like to.
He said at the time: “We’d love to … love to work with Taylor Swift.
“[I] love Taylor Swift … think she’s one of the best songwriters. Yeah, no … we haven’t done that. We’d love to though, wouldn’t we?”

The ‘When Love Takes Over’ hitmaker – who has son Tim, 18, and daughter Angie, 15, with ex wife Cathy – admitted even his own kids don’t realise how hard he works.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “My kids joke, if they want to buy something, ‘Come on Dad you just have to raise your hands for five minutes and you can pay for that’.
“I’m like, ‘Oh my God you guys are so insulting. You don’t know everything that goes behind getting paid.’
“People think, ‘This guy is just having fun putting his hands in the air and people are singing his song’. They don’t know I just release one record out of a hundred because my hard drive is full of s*** records!”
Guetta, 55, doesn’t want youngsters wanting to follow in his footsteps getting tricked into thinking life as a DJ is what they see online.
He explained: “People need to understand most of what we see on social media is fake – people are lying. They show up in a car that’s a rental, show a plane that’s not theirs.
“All the girls you see [with them] have never paid for a ticket in their life. That life doesn’t exist.
“If you’re an ordinary person, you’re gonna feel, ‘I’m a piece of s***, a loser’. We can’t have society where 99 per cent of the people feel like they suck.”
Meanwhile, he suggested his own success comes from 80 per cent hard work, with the rest credited to his talent, while he suggested looking for fresh inspiration plays a big role.
He said: “The secret of my longevity is I have no ego. Ego killed so many careers. When I see younger generation of artists, I embrace all of them.
“I go on TikTok, I go on Instagram and follow producers. They’re like 16 years old, 18 years old sometimes. I chat to them.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will play a special outdoor headline show for ‘Heritage Live’ in Essex next summer.
The Britpop legend and his band will perform a concert on the grounds of English Heritage’s Audley End House and Gardens on August 5, 2023.
Noel will be supported by ‘Valerie’ hitmakers The Zutons and former Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan.
In a press release, the organisers have described Heritage Live as “a unique annual concert series that brings world-famous artists to the most beautiful landmarks in the country”.
In a statement, ‘Heritage Live’ promoter Giles Cooper said: “Noel is one of rock’s true iconic geniuses and we’re so pleased he’ll be performing another Heritage Live show for us next summer.
“Their show with us at Kenwood last year was one of the highlights of the summer; the High Flying Birds are such a brilliant band and we really can’t wait to stage this show for them in one of the UK’s most amazing concert settings.”
This week the ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ singer also announced a special homecoming show in Manchester on August 26 at Wythenshawe Park.
For that date, he’ll be joined by special guests Primal Scream and Future Islands.
Tickets for the ‘Heritage Live’ show go on sale at 9am GMT on December 9, with a presale coming two days earlier.
Meanwhile, last month Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds unveiled new single ‘Pretty Boy’, which features Johnny Marr and is the first glimpse of the band’s upcoming fourth studio album.
Although there is no confirmed release date for the record – the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Who Build The Moon?’ – Noel recently let slip that it will drop in May 2023.
He said: “The team is doing good, we’re having a good season.
“Hopefully we will be in Istanbul around when my new album is out next May, so that would be good.
“It would be absolutely perfect. That’s the time of my birthday so it could well be the best birthday ever.
“I can’t say what the album is called yet though.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Motorhead are giving fans an ouija board to contact Lemmy Kilmister through the ‘Seriously Bad Magic’ box set.
The ‘Ace of Spaces’ rockers are releasing a new edition of their 2015 album ‘Bad Magic’ – their 22nd and final release before frontman Lemmy’s death aged 70 that year – and they have unveiled previously unreleased track ‘Bullet In Your Brain’ to celebrate the upcoming release.
The box set edition of the reissue will come with an ouija board, “should the desire to have a chat with Lem or anyone beyond this mortal coil arise”.
The board will include an ‘Ace of Spades’ planchette to help fans spell out their conversations with any spirits they may encounter.
The collection – which is set to be released on February 24, 2023 – will also include ‘Greedy B*******’, alongside ‘Bullet In Your Brain’.
The latter – which was now available to stream alongside a music video with never before seen footage – was recorded during the ‘Bad Magic’ sessions.
Meanwhile, the upcoming release will also feature Motorhead’s live set at Japan’s Mt Fuji Rock Festival in 2015, as well as an audio interview with Lemmy from the tour.
Last year, it was revealed Lemmy’s ashes were used to create tattoos for the band’s tour manager and production assistant, after his request before his death was for his remains to be placed inside bullets and sent to his loved ones.
Crew members Eddie Rocha and Emma Cederblad have shared a video of them getting the permanent tribute to their late friend.
The clip begins with the caption: “Some of Lemmy’s ashes were shared with family and close friends.”
The bullet is then shown before the powdery residue is seen being slipped into ink to create a portrait of the musician for Eddie’s leg, and the band’s iconic spade emblem for Emma.

OHMYGOSSIP — Guns N’ Roses are headlining American Express presents BST Hyde Park for the first time in the summer.
The ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ legends will make their debut at the iconic festival series on June 30 as part of the outdoor London event’s 10th anniversary.
Frontman Axl Rose will be joined by Slash, Duff McKagen, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer and Melissa Reese for the special show.
They joined previously announced headliners Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Billy Joel, Take That, BLACKPINK and P!NK with special guest Gwen Stefani.
Tickets will go on general sale on Wednesday (07.12.22) at 10am GMT, with the first presale coming to American Express Cardmembers on Friday (02.12.22) at 9am GMT.
Reflecting on her own appearance, ‘Hollaback Girl’ hitmaker Gwen admitted the UK shows – on June 24 and 25 – will be a special experience for her.
She said: “I don’t think I would ever be me without the incredible musical influences of the UK. I am so excited to be back! This is going to be an amazing show.”
Pink added: “It’s been a long three years and I’ve missed live music so so much…. So it’s finally time! I am so excited to get back to the UK and Europe to sing, cry, sweat and make new memories with my friends. It’s going to be magical!”
More special guests for all shows will be confirmed in due course, while Take That – made up of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen – are looking forward to their one-off reunion.
They said: “We’re so excited to be back together and that BST Hyde Park will be the first stage we perform on in almost four years. We have incredible memories of playing there in 2016, and we can’t wait to see everyone in July.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica have announced their first album in six years, ’72 Seasons’, and a world tour.
The heavy metal titans surprised fans this week by dropping the lead single from the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct’, ‘Lux Æterna’, and a striking music video.
The album’s title signifies how influential the first 18 years of our life are.
Frontman James Hetfield explained: “[Seventy-two] seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves.
“The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are.”
He went on: “I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”
The album will be released on April 14, 2023.
The ‘Enter Sandman’ rockers will then embark on the mammoth tour in support of the LP, which will see them play two shows in each city with different setlists.
The tour spans 2023 and 2024, and is due to kick off in Amsterdam on April 27, 2023.
Different shows will have different support acts; from Architects, Mammoth WVH, and Five Finger Death Punch to Ice Nine Kills, Pantera, Volbeat and Greta Van Fleet.
General sale tickets will be available from 9am local time on Friday (02.12.22).
