OHMYGOSSIP — Bros star Matt Goss says he and his twin Luke Goss have the same dysfunctional relationship as the Gallagher brothers.
The 54-year-old siblings found huge fame in the late 1980s as pop group Bros, and they last reunited in 2017 for two concerts at The O2 arena in London, which was then followed by the release of 2018 documentary Bros: After the Screaming Stops, which chronicled their reconciliation and preparation for those shows.
The brothers had been estranged for several years before reconciling in the wake of their mother Carol’s death in 2014, Matt admits there is still a lot of tension between them just like Liam and Noel Gallagher who had a huge bust-up in 2009 which ended Oasis and their relationship.
He said: “I’d say we are the Gallaghers of pop! We get compared to them.
“I think family have the habit of pushing the button a little bit too far. I think if your friends said what your family said to you then you would smack them around the face! But they don’t. Family knows that they can push you that little bit too far. I think as you get older – and I’m not talking for the Gallaghers – but I imagine that like me they feel like ultimately we are all going to have say goodbye to each other and if somebody doesn’t want to be around you, or doesn’t want to attempt to get to know you or understand you then at some point you just lose the will. I feel like it can be exhausting.”
Matt hopes another Bros reunion will happen, hopefully by 2024, with shows, a new documentary and hopefully new music, and the singer is ready to talk honestly about the issues between him and Luke.
He said: “Bros, in the next couple of years it will happen, absolutely. I think in 2024.
“When your relationship is critiqued publicly. There is always something more that you want to say.
“I want to say more. But there is still this weird respect, this deep-rooted loyalty that you have that you will not cross that final boundary about how you really feel. I hope if we did a documentary I would like to say how I really feel about my brother, and I hope he would say the same about me. That’s because I am so tired of skirting around it, but I am reaching that point.”
But before any reunion happens, Matt is heading out on tour in the UK in 2023 with ‘The Matt Goss Experience’.
The run of shows – which begin in Croydon on February 27 and include a date at the Royal Albert Hall in London – will feature Matt performing his biggest hits, new original music and his own personal tribute to one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Cole Porter, in a new set of arrangements with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and 15pc MG Big Band.
A new album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will follow in June, which is being recorded at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.

OHMYGOSSIP — Morrissey has hit back at claims that Miley Cyrus pulled out of a collaboration because of his political views.
The controversial 63-year-old musician recently revealed that Miley would no longer appear on his track ‘I Am Veronica’ but he has insisted that her reasons for pulling out were unrelated to him.
Writing on his official Morrissey Central website, he said: “In truth, Miley has backed off for reasons unconnected to me, having had a major clash with a key figure in ‘the circle’. I cannot give any details about the private fight because … it is private, after all.
“Miley knew everything about me when she arrived to sing ‘I Am Veronica’ almost two years ago; she walked into the studio already singing the song. She volunteered. I did not ask her to get involved. Her professionalism was astounding, her vocals a joy to behold. Every minute that I spent with Miley was loving and funny. She asked if she could be in the ‘Veronica’ video. I was very honored. She told me that Morrissey songs are on 24-hour rotation in her house, and she had frequently been photographed in Morrissey t-shirts. Miley came into my world; I did not venture towards hers. I was eternally thankful, and even now, I remain so.”
This comes after Morrissey previously revealed his new album is “no longer scheduled” to drop in February 2023.
The Smiths musician had been set to release his 14th solo album ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ early next year, but there has been a change of plans.
In a brief statement on his website, he said: “‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ is no longer scheduled for a February release, as stated by this site.
“Its fate is exclusively in the hands of Capitol Records (Los Angeles).”

OHMYGOSSIP — RAYE “cried all day” after achieving her first number one single.
The 25-year-old singer – who quit her record label Polydor in 2021 in order to release music independently – reached the top of the charts with ‘Escapism’ featuring 070 Shake and admitted she was overcome with emotion.
She told MailOnline: “I think, in a way I kind of feel like a new artist. You know, with three songs out in the world about to release her debut album. I think it’s a different thing being in in control of your career and being free to express yourself.
“And then release music tied at your own time rather than what other people think is best and what they want you to do. So that, it’s just such a reward.
“This is different. Feelings of doing it on your own, If that makes sense. I don’t really know what to say, for someone who puts words together for a living.”
RAYE previously accused her record label of stopping her from releasing an album and now her debut record ‘My 21st Century Blues’ is set for release in February.
And, she admitted she was once ready to give up music entirely due to the drama.
She said: “I was ready to just give up and not be an artist any more. I felt better but I also felt terrified. I’d put my neck on the line.
“What actually should matter is having artists who build fanbases and sell out shows and stream music, regardless of what genre it is.
“Having a Top 10 is not defining. What it showed me was that we were aiming for two completely different things and we always have been. What makes them proud isn’t what makes me proud.
“The fact that they did let me go, I’m so grateful because it could have gone all matters of dark. The s*** I have been through, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemies.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Pop rejected calls from the Grammys for years.
The former Stooges frontman was finally honoured with the Lifetime Achievement prize at the 2020 Grammy Awards, but he has admitted he refused to speak to Grammys bosses because he didn’t want to be “an exhibit in their museum”.
He told Classic Rock magazine of the accolade and The Stooges making it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010: “Things changed and society met me halfway.
“The Grammys kept wanting to talk to me on the phone and I kept telling my manager: ‘I don’t want to talk to them. I hate those people. They want me to be an exhibit in their museum or something.’
“Then when I finally spoke to the lady from the Grammys a couple of months later she said: ‘We’re giving you the Lifetime Achievement.
Without you, there’s no Lil Nas X and there’s no Billie Eilish.’
“According to her, ‘You’re a direct link to the artists that are at the top of our awards list this year.’
“So that’s what one person had to say, and I’ll take that for what it’s worth.”
Meanwhile, Iggy just revealed he was almost in AC/DC.
The 75-year-old punk star – whose real name is James Newell Osterberg, Jr – claimed that he could have been part of the rock band alongside the likes of Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Phil Rudd, Cliff Williams, Brian Johnson, and Stevie Young but was unsure how he would “fit into” their kind of music.
He said: “They had a manager many years ago, when I hadn’t reformed The Stooges, I hadn’t moved to England. And this guy said, ‘Are you interested in joining AC/DC?’ They were looking for a singer. I listened to their record. I thought, I can’t fit that bill,I wasn’t, like, ‘Ugh, I don’t like them.’ It was quite well made. They do careful work, but I’m not what they needed.”
The ‘Lust for Life’ hitmaker went on to add that he did cross paths with the late Bon Scott – who was the lead singer of AC/DC from 1974 until his death in 1980 at the age of 33 – although he still struggles to remember the circumstances of their meeting because they were so drunk.
He told The New York Times: “I had some wonderful encounter with Bon somewhere, and we were both drunk and stoned. I see pictures sometimes. I go, I don’t remember, but that’s me with Bon. I loved what he did.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Hawkins suffered a hamstring injury after doing a “David Lee Roth-style split jump” on stage.
The Darkness frontman hasn’t been able to run due to sustaining a leg injury while trying to copy the former Van Halen frontman and breaking a rib after attempting to jump on a balcony at another gig.
He told Classic Rock magazine: “Me and my brother [Dan Hawkins] try to run, even when we’re on tour.
But I haven’t been able to do anything for a while because I did a David Lee Roth-style split jump and f***** up the hamstring in my left leg.
“It was a great jump, with my legs over my head, but when I landed I went: ‘Uh-oh.’
“Then we were just on tour in Australia, and I jumped on the balcony.
“It didn’t have the sort of lip I’m used to, so I ended up falling in a bit sideways and broke a rib.
“So at the moment I’m limping and I find it difficult to breathe.
“But apart from that, I’m in tremendous shape.”
The ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ rocker’s latest injuries come after he revealed he was rushed to hospital after a freak accident left him with chemical burns.
The ‘Masked Singer’ star melted his shorts to his skin after he accidentally got toxic chemicals all over himself whilst cleaning his swimming pool at his home in Switzerland.
Speaking in 2020, he said: “There was a problem with the pool, a pump thing and some chemicals came out of it.
“I think it was a PH negative chemical to control the acidity of the pool.
“I was trying to fix it and I touched my legs and my shorts melted onto my legs, so then I had to go to hospital.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo wants to play the flute for Adele.
The ‘Good As Hell’ hitmaker is keen to collaborate with the British superstar but she’s not looking for a traditional duet because she’d be happy playing music on one of the ‘Easy On Me’ singer’s ballads.
Asked about the possibility of a collaboration, she said: “We’ve never talked about that. You know, what I’d do with Adele is play the flute. I’d play flute as she is that kind of artist.”
Lizzo is thankful for the ‘I Drink Wine’ singer’s support and advice, but she admitted their journeys to fame were very different because of the rise in social media over the last few years.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “When she first came out the culture was so different, and especially with social media.
“Adele called me and was like, ‘Lizzo, how do you f***ing do it? Are you okay? Do you want to come over and drink some wine. Do you want to talk?’ And I was like, yeah…
“Adele saw me literally in a different font. It was really sweet.
“Shouting out my documentary the other day… she didn’t have to.
“She texted to say, ‘I f****** hate documentaries unless you’re Tina Turner or The Beatles, but this is so f****** good.’ And I was like, thank you.”
The 34-year-old singer praised Adele’s authenticity.
She said: “I look up to her a lot. She knows who she is and she honours that with every album.
“She gave us piano ballads that go to number one, which is so hard and rare.
“She’s the rarest gem of all time. We need her. I am grateful for her.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Ryder once sang ‘Reach’ by S Club 7 at his school assembly.
The 2022 ‘Eurovision’ runner-up – who first grew a following on TikTok with his cover videos before shooting to fame with his mega-hit ‘Space Man’ in the song contest – has confessed that his guilty pleasure is the noughties pop group.
He told Classic Rock magazine: “I was listening to S Club 7 the other day.
“I remember singing ‘Reach’ in the school assembly once as well.
“So I guess you could say they are my guilty pleasure.
“But not really that guilty – the song’s wicked!”
Sam went on to perform at the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee last summer, before performing with Queen at the Taylor Hawkins tribute.
The 33-year-old power vocalist has always admired Queen’s late frontman Freddie Mercury – who died in 1991, aged 45, due to complications from AIDS – for not being afraid to perform even if his voice was breaking as it showed raw emotion.
He told the publication: “He had everything. Even on the rare occasions when his voice was going, he had the courage to push through it.
“And that’s so cool.
“Because the age we live in everything’s so … kind of pruned, and we only share our best moments.
“And Freddie, his whole career was the best moment, in my opinion.
“As a singer, you can also find comfort knowing that he wasn’t afraid to go for it and have his voice break in front of a crowd, because there was passion there.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Radiohead are planning to return in 2023, according to drummer Phil Selway.
The group hasn’t toured since 2018 and their last release was a 2021 triple album celebrating two decades since the release of their records ‘Kid A’ and ‘Amnesiac’ along with a compilation of B-sides titled ‘ ‘Kid Amnesiae’ – however, Phil has now revealed the bandmates are aiming to get together soon to discuss ideas for their next project.
He told Spin: “We’ve been very focused on the whole ‘Kid A’/’Amnesiac’ thing, and I think that’s coming to its natural conclusion, going back through the reissue and [creating] the game scenario around that.
“We’re going to get together at the start of [2023], and I’m sure we’re going to start looking at other ideas for what comes next.”
He went on to suggest their next move could be a project focused around celebrating their 2003 record ‘Hail to the Thief’, teasing: “It’s a long time since that record, isn’t it?”
Radiohead’s last studio album was 2016’s ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ and since then frontman Thom Yorke and guitarist/keyboardist Jonny Greenwood have been focusing on recording and touring with their new band The Smile.
Phil comments come after the band’s guitarist Ed O’Brien previously insisted Radiohead’s future is still up in the air.
He told ’The Line-Up’ podcast: “It might happen, but the other thing is … it might not. And does that matter?
“There’s no Radiohead at the moment. There’s a truth to what we do, so we’re not going to be one of those bands that gets together for the big payday.
“The thing with Radiohead, we could do something in a couple years. We might not. But I think what it has to be, it has to be five people going, ‘I really want to do this again with you.’ And I think at the moment, because we’ve done it for so long, we’re all reaching out and having different experiences. And that should be allowed, and that should be encouraged.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams has two albums coming out in 2023.
The ‘Rock DJ’ hitmaker has revealed he has an abundance of tunes recorded for his side project Lufthaus, but he wants to focus on that as a “live entity” for now.
But fans can expect plenty of new music from the former Take That star in the coming months.
He teased: “I have got two albums coming out pretty soon. I have a vault of new Lufthaus stuff. I could do three albums of it as Robbie Williams but new stuff gets written and you get excited about that. I want to put an album out before the summer.”
The 48-year-old pop star has plenty of ideas for future releases, including a desire to make a follow-up to his 2006 dance LP ‘Rudebox’, which featured the Pet Shop Boys and featured production by Mark Ronson.
Explaining his intentions for Lufthaus, he continued: “I am not sure if there will be a Lufthaus album. We (Lufthaus) did Ibiza and everybody goes mad and the DJ said, ‘They love us mate.’ We are trying to figure out what live entity Lufthaus is.
“I would like to do a ‘Rudebox 2’ (as well) but I change with the wind.”
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker confessed that he would prefer to play more of his lesser-known songs from his ‘Under the Radar’ compilations.
He said on the ‘Robbie Williams Rewind’ podcast: “I want to do more ‘Under the Radar’ gigs as there is Robbie the public entity but there are the guys at the front who want more. But there are 17,000 others who know ‘Feel’ and ‘She’s The One’. It is f****** annoying I can’t do ‘Andy Warhol’ or ‘Just Want People To Like Me’. That is what I would rather be doing but I am there to provide a service.”
And Robbie has expressed his desire to pen tunes with James Blunt.
He added: “I want to write with James. We have bumped into each other a lot this year. We keep saying we will get into a room but we are seldom in one place.”
Robbie released his 10th compilation album, ‘XXV’, in September, featuring new, reimagined versions of his hit songs, plus new material.

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Perry has dropped his lawsuit against his former Journey bandmates.
The 73-year-old musician – who was lead singer of the rock band from 1977 to 1987, and again from 1995 to 1998, and co-wrote many of their hits – filed a lawsuit against Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain in September, regarding the trademarks of 20 of their biggest hits and their use of them on merchandise.
He accused the pair of “fraud on the trademark office”, and claimed they failed to ask for his consent to use the trademarks.
However, Schon has now confirmed Perry has withdrawn the case.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, he said: “Yes he did. Now we can talk as we were.”
While the case has been dropped, there still appears to be a rift between Schon and Cain.
The former has accused Cain of “trying to throw me under the bus”.
He wrote: “So much for [Cain] trying to throw me under the bus as he claimed I was blatantly trying to rip off [Perry] while collecting the checks for the very diligent work my wife and I did to protect our Merch.”
The ‘Don’t Stop Believin” rockers have had a number of legal fallouts over the years.
More recently, Schon filed a cease and desist against Cain for performing at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago.
The 68-year-old lead guitarist was not impressed to say the least when the 72-year-old keyboardist performed ‘Don’t Stop Believin” at the former President’s Florida resort in November, because Journey “is not, and should not be, political.”
Cain – whose wife Paula White-Cain was a spiritual advisor to Trump – is accused by his bandmate of “unauthorised affiliation of Journey” with Trump’s politics.
Schon claimed it has resulted in “irreparable harm” to the group’s brand and “earning potential”.
Cain hit back and accused his bandmate of lying.
He responded: “Schon is just frustrated that he keeps losing in court and is now falsely claiming the song has been used at political rallies.”
Back in March 2020, Journey fired longtime bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith for an alleged “malicious and very ill-conceived” coup attempt to gain control of the band’s copyright from Schon and Cain.
Valory – who was also fired by the band in 1985 and replaced by Randy Jackson – and Smith later countersued.
Jackson returned to the group in May 2020.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Whispers’ Gordy Harmon has died aged 79.
Soul and Jazz star Gordy passed away peacefully on Thursday (05.01.23) in his sleep at his Los Angeles home, his family confirmed to Eyewitness News.
While there is no cause of death at this time, it’s believed Gordy died of natural causes.
A statement on The Whispers’ official Instagram page read: “We are saddened by the passing of one of the founders and former member of the Whispers. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and his memory and his contributions will never be forgotten. Much love.”
Gordy co-founded the group with Marcus Hutson, Nicholas Caldwell, and brothers Wallace and Walter Scott, in Los Angeles in 1963.
He left the band in 1973 before they had a handful of hits in the 80s.
Gordy was forced to leave due to injuring his larynx.
He released three albums with them: 1969’s ‘Planets of Life’, and 1973’s ‘Life and Breath and ‘The Whispers’ Love Story’.
The Whispers scored number-one hits with the 1979 disco tune ‘And The Beat Goes On’ and 1987’s ‘Rock Steady’.
Siblings Walter and Wallace are the only surviving members of the band and remain active.
Nicholas died of heart failure in 2016, while Marcus battled prostate cancer and passed away in 2000.
They continued performing as a quartet and vowed never to replace Marcus at the time of his death.
The Whispers were inducted into the R’n’B Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

OHMYGOSSIP — John Lydon’s Public Image Ltd (PiL) is making a bid to win the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
The former Sex Pistol’s band has recorded an emotional entry for Ireland called ‘Hawaii’, which is a love letter to Lydon’s wife, Nora, who has Alzheimer’s.
The 66-year-old punk rock star – who cares for his spouse – said: “It is dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most.
“It’s also a message of hope that ultimately love conquers all.”
The musician’s mother was from County Cork and his father from Galway.
The other entries for Ireland come from ADGY, CONNOLLY, Wild Youth, Leila Jane, and K Muni + ND.
Michael Kealy, RTÉ Eurovision Head of Delegation, said: “I am really impressed by the quality and standard of the six acts we have in our Eurosong final this year. The Eurovision Song Contest is a global phenomenon, and the competition is getting harder every year, but whichever of our six finalists gets to represent Ireland in Liverpool in May I’ve no doubt they will represent us brilliantly, winning new fans all over the world.”
‘Hawaii’ is available on all digital platforms now, and will be released on limited edition 7 inch vinyl later in the year.
A press release teased that: “PiL will be releasing a new album this year. Details to be announced soon.”
PiL is also comprised of Lu Edmonds (multi-instrumentalist, Guitars) Bruce Smith (Percussion, drums), and Scott Firth (Bass, multi-instrumentalist).
The finalists will perform on a special edition of Ireland’s ‘The Late Late Show’ on Friday, February 3, from 9.30pm GMT, where the winner will be unveiled based on the national jury, international jury, and public vote.

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift is in rehearsals for ‘The Eras Tour’.
The pop megastar told fans on her Instagram Story that she was “taking a break from tour rehearsal” to make them aware of a 12-hour flash sale of exclusive digital copies of her LP ‘Midnights’, Billboard reports.
Last month, it was alleged that the ‘Eras’ stadium tour – which is set to take place from March until August – is anticipated to make a whopping $591 million in ticket sales in the US alone.
According to the publication, the pop Grammy winner will become the female with the highest-grossing tour of all time with her 2023 jaunt.
Ahead of the tour, fans might be treated to the re-recorded version of ‘Speak Now’.
The 33-year-old singer initially released the chart-topping record in 2010, but has been remaking her earlier albums after a dispute with her old label Big Machine Records.
So far, she has released ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’, and has been “quietly” re-recording her third and fourth studio albums around preparations for her forthcoming world tour.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column last week: “‘Speak Now’ looks set to be the next album in the ‘Taylor’s Version’ series.
Taylor has quietly been in the studio working on remaking both ‘Speak Now’ and ‘1989’. All details are still being ironed out but ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ should be out within the next couple of months, before she kicks off her ‘Eras’ world tour.”
The insider went on to add that the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker is “super focused” on her work and is dedicated to her fans, noting that she did not take a break to enjoy the success of her 10th studio album, ‘Midnights’, which was released to commercial and critical acclaim in October 2022.

OHMYGOSSIP — Quavo has paid a tear-jerking tribute to the late Takeoff with the moving song ‘Without You’.
The Migos star was tragically shot dead in November at the age of 28, following an altercation at a club in Houston.
And his bandmate and uncle Quavo, 31, has shared the emotional new track in his memory.
He sings: “I wish I had a time machine/ Just so you take a ride with me/ I miss just how you smile at me/ Unc and Phew until infinity.”
Quavo admitted he will “miss” his nephew so much because they did everything together.
He wrote on Instagram: “It’s so hard to tell you Ima miss you because you [were] always with me and we did everything together. Thought we were gonna be pro wrestlers. Nothing ever really bothered Take and he didn’t bother anybody. He the most unbothered person in the world. He never go mad, he never raised his voice, and when he did, he silenced the room because what Take said was law and he wasn’t changing his mind.”
The ‘Open it Up’ star – whose real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall – admitted the pair were closer than uncle and nephew and hailed Takeoff “our angel”.
He said: “This whole time I’ve been trying to figure what you really are to me because nephew wasn’t it. We hated that word ’nephew’ or when they said ‘Unc and Phew’ cuz we always knew we were closer than that and it made me feel old too. But I knew you weren’t my brother cuz you are my sister’s son, so I couldn’t say brother. Now I finally get it… you are OUR angel”(sic)

OHMYGOSSIP — Iron Maiden have been immortalised in stamp form.
The Royal Mail has unveiled 12 stamps in ode to the “bona fide rock legends”.
Eight stamps are photographs of performances, featuring guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers, frontman Bruce Dickinson, drummer Nicko McBrain and bassist Steve Harris.
The other four stamps pay homage to the ‘Run to the Hills’ group’s mascot Eddie, including one as a samurai warrior from the ‘Senjutsu’ album artwork and ‘The Trooper’ Eddie for the 1983 classic of the same name and the heavy metal band’s logo for their beer.
Founding member Steve commented: “We were all absolutely astounded – in a good way! – when we heard first about the commemorative project, and equally pretty much speechless when we saw the stamps for the very first time. They look superb and I think they really capture the essence and energy of Maiden. We’re all very proud that Royal Mail has chosen to honour the band’s legacy like this and we know our fans will feel the same way.”
Iron Maiden manager, Rod Smallwood, said: “As a band who have never played by anyone else’s rules for over 40 years, it’s very gratifying to see them honoured in their home country in this way. We’re proud to show how these six band members are still appealing to more and more fans every year with their music and their legendary shows – which I think these stamps really capture well. It’s also fantastic that Eddie has been honoured too – it’s incredible to think that Her Majesty, may she rest in peace, saw these and lent her iconic silhouette to them too.”
David Gold, Director of External Public Affairs and Policy at Royal Mail, added: “Few bands in the history of rock music can be called bona fide rock legends – but Iron Maiden are just that – and more. With legions of devoted fans of all ages and from every corner of the globe, not only have they changed the way rock music sounds, but they have also changed the way it looks. We fully expect their fans will love these stamps as much as we do.”
Bruce and co are the fifth band to be honoured with a stamp collection by Royal Mail, following in the footsteps of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen and The Rolling Stones.
Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, and the late David Bowie have also got the stamp treatment in recent years.
The stamps are available to order now and will be available from January 12.
Meanwhile, fans can catch Iron Maiden on the road in 2023 on the ‘Future Past’ tour across the UK and Europe.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dermot Kennedy “completely respects” Shawn Mendes’ decision to cancel his tour for his mental health last year.
The 31-year-old singer-songwriter opened for the ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’ hitmaker on the North American leg of his ‘Wonder’ world tour in 2022, but Shawn ended up scrapping his remaining run of shows to focus on his mental health.
Dermot said: “It was amazing to spend some time with Shawn and see an artist of that size perform to huge audiences and do what they do best.
“We just talked about music. It is a very demanding industry to be a part of.
“There can be a lot of pressure on an artist. Especially the bigger they get. I completely respect his decision to cancel the tour for his mental health.”
The ‘Kiss Me’ hitmaker insists Shawn will come back “stronger”.
He is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “He has to do what is right for him. It is very important to look after yourself and take the time you need. He’ll be back stronger.”
Shawn confirmed in July 2022 that he was axing the remainder of his tour dates, telling fans at the time: “As you guys know, I had to postpone the past few weeks of shows since I wasn’t totally prepared for the toll of being back on the road would take on me.
“I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away.
“After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger.
“I unfortunately have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America, and the UK/Europe.
“We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much needed time off, but at this time I have to put my health as my first priority.”
