OHMYGOSSIP — Groove Armada is the third headlining act to have been announced for Rock Oyster 2023.
The electronic duo – which consists of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay – will join the previously announced Nile Rodgers and Chic and Sophie Ellis Bextor at the four-day festival and camping holiday taking place from 27-30 July 2023 on the banks of the Camel Estuary in Cornwall.
The ‘I See You Baby’ hitmakers are celebrating 25 years in showbusiness and are said to be bringing a “DJ set that will likely go down in history” to their performance, with floor fillers ‘Song 4 Mutya (Out of Control)’ and ‘At The River’ set to wow the crowds on the Friday night of the annual festival.
The three headliners joined on next summer’s bill by London four-piece The Big Moon, Mercury prize nominated, Cornish language champion Gwenno, and film-maker, musician, documentarist, and cultural historian Don Letts.
What’s more, ticket holders will also be able to purchase food and drink from food from Michelin-starred chefs to creative kitchen wizards over the course of the four-day period, in what has been billed as a “voyage of culinary discovery and musical mischief”, with the likes of TV chef Andi Oliver, food writer Claire Thomson and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall all set to offer up a menu.

OHMYGOSSIP — Orbital have released a new track with Penelope Isles.
The electronic music duo , made up of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, have teamed up with fellow rock siblings Lily and Jack Wolter – who are better known as Penelope Isles – for the release of their latest single ‘Are You Alive?’ and thanked the ‘Iced Gems’ hitmakers for adding some “killer hooks” to the song.
In a statement, Paul said: “They’re our studio mates, they work upstairs! And they’ve both got amazing voices. ‘Are You Alive?’ came about when I had the instrumental and felt it could do with a delicate vocal. Enter Penelope Isles! They took it away and Lily came up with some killer hooks, we spent a day rearranging the song and Hey Presto! ‘Are You Alive’ was born. But don’t be fooled by the sweetness of the sound, the lyrics have some bite. It’s a dog-eat-dog world…”
The origins of the song come from a 6Music project called ‘The Virus Diaries’ that Paul did with his old school friend, the poet Murray Lachlan-Young, whereby the two challenged each other to deliver a new track to each other on a weekly basis and is the latest single to be plucked from their 10th studio album ‘Optical Delusion’. which is set to be released on 17 February 2023.
What’s more, the ‘Halycon’ hitmakers will head out on the road again this spring as they continue to celebrate more than 30 years in the music industry with a nine-date tour across the UK.

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyoncé has announced the ‘Renaissance’ world tour.
The 41-year-old pop superstar has not hit the road since ‘The Formation World Tour’ in 2016 but will be back on stage with a run of 40 shows across the globe to celebrate the success of her comeback album ‘Renaissance’, which soared to the top of the charts when it was released in July 2022.
The 2023 tour – which is produced by Parkwood Entertainment, and promoted by Live Nation – opens on May 10 2023 at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden before making stops throughout Europe in the Welsh capital of Cardiff, Scotland in Edinburgh, Sunderland’s Stadium of Light in the North of England and eventually going on to other major cities such as Paris, London, Marseille, and Amsterdam.
The tour will then continue across North America with shows in Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Houston in July and run through until late September when the ‘Crazy In Love’ songstress will wrap things up in New Orleans.
The ‘Break My Soul’ hitmaker will also be running her BEYGood initiative throughout the tour, which has aimed to support people and programs around the world through her philanthropical measures for a whole decade, including the likes of scholarship funds and working with sustainability brands.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Juno Awards have defended their decision to give Arcade Fire with a Group of the Year nomination following the sexual assault allegations made against frontman Win Butler.
Last year, Butler was accused of sexual misconduct by five people, and the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has insisted that while it takes the allegations “very seriously”, they still wanted to honour Win’s bandmates.
In a statement shared with CBC, the Academy said: “We look at Arcade Fire’s nomination for group of the year as one for the entire band.
“While we take the allegations very seriously, in this situation, we are also honouring the rest of the band for their success. We hope the allegations against Butler will not detract from the achievements of the other group members.”
The 42-year-old singer was said to have behaved inappropriately between 2015 to 2020 when he was aged 34 to 39 and his alleged victims were between the ages of 18 and 23, but he insisted the encounters between them were consensual.
A gender-fluid individual who uses they/them pronouns told Pitchfork Butler had sexually assaulted them twice in 2015 when they were 21 years old, while three women told the outlet their encounters with the ‘Rebellion (Lies)’ hitmaker involved unwanted touching, kissing and photos of genitalia, and were “inappropriate given the gaps in age, power dynamics, and context in which they occurred.”
Butler issued a lengthy statement in which he told how he was going through a period of depression and drinking heavily at the time, but maintained the “relationships” were consensual and his wife, bandmate Regine Chassagne, was aware of what happened.
He said in a statement: “I love Régine with all of my heart. We have been together for twenty years, she is my partner in music and in life, my soulmate and I am lucky and grateful to have her by my side. But at times, it has been difficult to balance being the father, husband, and bandmate that I want to be. Today I want to clear the air about my life, poor judgment, and mistakes I have made.
“I have had consensual relationships outside of my marriage.
“There is no easy way to say this, and the hardest thing I have ever done is having to share this with my son. The majority of these relationships were short lived, and my wife is aware – our marriage has, in the past, been more unconventional than some. I have connected with people in person, at shows, and through social media, and I have shared messages of which I am not proud. Most importantly, every single one of these interactions has been mutual and always between consenting adults. It is deeply revisionist, and frankly just wrong, for anyone to suggest otherwise.”
In November, a fifth person accused the singer of “emotionally abusive, manipulative, toxic” behaviour.
He has profusely denied the misconduct allegations made against him and apologised to “anyone” he has “hurt” with his behaviour.

OHMYGOSSIP — Missy Elliott said it’s “incredible” to be the first female hip-hop artist to receive a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination.
On Wednesday (01.02.23), the 2023 nominees were unveiled and the rap icon admitted she feels privileged to be honoured alongside the likes of Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson and the late George Michael, who also made the list.
She said in a statement: “This is an incredible honour. I’m so humbled and grateful to be counted amongst all the incredible honourees.”
Cyndi Lauper, Iron Maiden, JoyDivision/New Order, The Spinners, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, A Tribe Called Quest, The White Stripes and Warren Zevon are also nominated.
Kate Bush and Rage Against The Machine have been nominated many times before, with the former on her fourth nod and the ‘Killing in the Name’ rockers on their fifth.
In 2021, the Hall of Fame was criticised for not choosing Iron Maiden, who are on their second nomination, for induction that year.
CEO Greg Harris insisted that despite Bruce Dickinson and co failing to join the likes of Tina Turner, Foo Fighters, and Jay-Z, as the 16 artists chosen for the honour, they still regard the ‘Run to the Hills’ rockers as an “impactful, influential band”.
Appearing on WBAB radio station, Harris said: “There’s no doubt that Iron Maiden are an impactful, influential band, and that’s why they were nominated this year, along with 15 other artists and acts, and when the votes came in, these six were the leaders. So we’re not questioning, are they an important band, are they impactful and influential.
“Of those that have been nominated throughout history, over 80 per cent of them have been eventually inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
“So everybody has their favourites; everybody has different artists that impacted them or impacted other artists. So, if you look at this list, you can make that case for all of these folks, just like people make that case for Iron Maiden.”
The Hall of Fame boss also insisted that rock and roll is a “big tent and everybody fits under it”, even if they don’t play rock ‘n’ roll music.
Dolly Parton was among the 2022 honourees and has been recording a rock album in order to feel worthy of being in the Hall of Fame.
Eminem, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, and Eurythmics were also inducted.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. Dre has added ‘The Chronic’ to streaming platforms to mark the seminal LP’s 30th anniversary.
The Grammy-winning rapper’s debut studio album was released on 15 December 1992, and Dre has teamed up with Interscope Records to bring all 16 tracks to streaming services, including Apple Music and Spotify.
The music and tech mogul – whose real name is Andre Romelle Young – said in a statement: “I am thrilled to bring the Chronic home to its original distribution partner, Interscope Records.
“Working alongside my long-time colleagues, Steve Berman and John Janick, to re-release the album and make it available to fans all over the world is a full circle moment for me.”
Interscope Geffen A+M’s Vice Chairman Steve Berman said: “Dr. Dre is without a doubt one of the most iconic and ground-breaking artists in the modern era. He has also used his platform to fuel some very impactful philanthropic efforts that will ensure his legacy is felt for generations to come. Dre’s solo career all started with The Chronic, one of the most celebrated recordings of all time. To have this album at Interscope once again where we work with Dre and his amazing team at Aftermath day in and day out is incredibly gratifying for me personally and all of us at Interscope.”
Meanwhile, last month it was reported that Dre is close to selling his entire music assets for a whopping $200 million (£164 million).
The master recordings for ‘The Chronic’, which he’s reclaiming ownership of from Death Row Entertainment, will be acquired by Universal Music Group as part of the multi-million-dollar deal.
The deal with UMG will also include Dre’s share in Kendrick Lamar’s music in Top Dawg Entertainment’s deal with UMG subsidiary Interscope, Billboard reported.
As well as selling to Universal, the CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics is passing his artist royalties from his two first solo albums to Shamrock Capital, along with his producer royalties and songwriting shares of the tracks where he’s not the owner of the publishing, and N.W.A. artist royalties.
Snoop Dogg became the new owner of Death Row Records last year.
The rap legend shot to fame after appearing on Dre’s ‘The Chronic’, released on the legendary record label, and was signed himself and went on to put out his debut album, ‘Doggystyle’, a year later.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kasabian, Wet Leg and Underworld are among the artists playing the Teenage Cancer Trust 2023 at the Royal Albert Hall.
The annual fundraising concert series is returning to the iconic venue in London between March 20 and 25.
Acid house icons Underworld – comprising Karl Hyde and Rick Smith – will play on March 20, with an unknown special guest.
The duo said: “It’s such an honour and a delight and it’s just really f****** great to be performing for the wonderful Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall on March 20th.”
Indie sensations Wet Leg – Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chamber – will be joined by rising singer-songwriter CMAT at the hall on March 22.
Manchester rockers the Courteeners are set for March 24.
And Kasabian will be joined by The Snuts on March 25.
The ‘Club Foot’ rockers first played the TCT stage in 2007, before returning in 2009, 2013 then again in 2018.
They will play their first TCT show with Serge Pizzorno as frontman.
The charity shows made a triumphant return in 2022, post-COVID, with performances from The Who, Ed Sheeran, Liam Gallagher, YUNGBLUD, Madness and more.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Jonas Brothers announced their new LP ‘The Album’ as they received their star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The trio – comprising siblings Joe, 33, Nick, 30, and 35-year-old Kevin Jonas – received the prestigious honour at Hollywood Boulevard on Monday (30.01.23), and the ‘Sucker’ hitmakers used the special occasion to reveal the follow-up to their 2019 comeback record ‘Happiness Begins’ will be released on May 5.
Nick said: “We are excited to announce today that our new album, ‘The Album’, will be coming out 5 May. And we can’t wait to see you on tour later this year.”
The eldest brother, Kevin, said receiving the star is a “testament” to the support of their fans.
He said: “This is a testament to the love and support of our fans, our family, and our friends who have been with us every step of the way. Thank you to everyone who has shown up, and even flown in, for this moment. We are so grateful to everyone who has made this possible, from our label to our management, to the media, and of course, most importantly, our fans. He said: “To my beautiful wife, you are the calm in the crazy, the rock in the storm and I love being married to you. It is the greatest gift. OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi has broken a concert record in Scotland.
The ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker – who once declared himself the Scottish Beyonce – now holds the record for selling the most tickets for an indoor live show in his home country, after selling more than 15,000 tickets for his P+J Live arena show in Aberdeen on January 23.
Louise Stewart, interim MD at P+J Live, said: “Monday’s show was absolutely phenomenal. The perfect blend of humour and pure talent, Lewis entertained the record-breaking crowd with new music, some classic hits and gave us a few laughs along the way. This is a fantastic accolade for P+J Live and is exactly what the venue was built for.

In Manchester, a fight broke out during ‘Hold Me While You Wait’.
Lewis was left flabbergasted after an alleged ruffle took place and a woman was escorted from Manchester’s AO Arena on January 18.
The pop star was midway through performing the ballad from 2019’s ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ when he was forced to turn the floor lights on and have security see to the incident.
He told the crowd: “They are scrapping in the crowd there. Erm, we are going to have to get them out. We can’t be fighting.”
Lewis – who releases his second studio album ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’ on May 19 – added: “What a weird song to fight to. Bizarre, bizarre.”
Another fight broke out on the opening night of the tour in Leeds, which also saw the ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker have a bra thrown onstage at him.
Donning the underwear, he quipped: “When I imagined the opening night of my sell-out arena tour, this is what I was thinking.”

The YouTuber, rapper, boxer, and Prime Hydration energy drinks co-owner has provided an update on the progress of ‘Caught In Two Minds’, which he admits he needs to spend time tweaking so he can “improve on a few things”.
Speaking on Apple Music 1’s ‘The Rebecca Judd Show’, he said of the follow-up to 2021’s ‘All Over the Place’: “I have no idea at the moment if I’m being honest [what it looks like]. Yes [all the songs are done], but I still want to add to it. I feel like I can improve on a few things, so I definitely want to just do that. It’s scary, isn’t it? Putting your emotions out there into the world. And even with my previous song ‘Summer Is Over’, putting that into the world, I hardly promoted it. It was one of the things where I did it for me.”
KSI also branded Oliver Tree a “troll” after he made a mockery of him on the set of the promo for their viral hit ‘Voices’.
He said: “So he’s a bit of a troll. So he said he hates working with me. He says that I’m the worst artist. I think there’s a bit of truth in some of the stuff he says. He said, ‘I’ve got more monthly followers than you and everything.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, you need to calm down, mate.’ But yeah, even when he was directing, he was just making me look like an idiot in the music video. Yeah. We have a back-and-forth, interesting relationship. He’s a funny guy, but yeah, he’s a bit of a troll.”
Elsewhere, the 29-year-old star confessed to regretting releasing his 2016 song ‘Friends with Benefits’.
He said: “I hate that song. I hate it so much. I hate it. When I released ‘Friends with Benefits’, at the time, I thought it was a sick song. And performing it was really easy, and I enjoyed it. And over time, it just has not aged well. I cringe every time people go, ‘Oh, that’s one of my favourite songs.’ I’m there like…”

The pop megastar has seen a chart resurgence worldwide since releasing the disco pop single – which appears to be a veiled swipe at ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, and the ‘Malibu’ singer is loving seeing the song connect with listeners in “such a positive way”.
She tweeted: “Celebrating “Flowers” being #1 around the world again this week! I love that this record is connecting in such a positive way and it’s a pleasure to continue creating music for you. These milestones are only made possible by the listeners and my incredible fans. Endlessly thankful. (sic)”
‘Flowers’ is taken from Miley’s upcoming eighth studio album, ‘Endless Summer Vacation’.
The song garnered a record-breaking 101+ million streams on Spotify within the first week of release.
The new record, released on March 10, will be her first since 2020’s rock record ‘Plastic Hearts’.
Meanwhile, SZA has teased a collaboration with Miley.
The chart-topping pair recently congratulated each other after Miley’s ‘Flowers’ became her first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and SZA’s recent chart success with ‘Kill Bill’ from her LP ‘SOS’, which is currently number two, with Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ at number three.

OHMYGOSSIP — A lost song by Sir Paul McCartney and the late Jeff Beck has been unearthed.
Following the passing of guitar hero Jeff on January 10, aged 78, the Beatles legend discovered the song made for their campaign in support of vegetarianism in 1994 in his archive.
The unreleased track – which was featured on the ‘Hey Jude’ hitmaker’s US radio series ‘Oobu Joobu’ almost three decades ago – sees environmentalist Jeff ask: “Why are they cutting down the rainforest?”
The pals shared a passion for campaigning for animal rights and saving the planet.
McCartney, 80, said in a statement: “With the sad passing of Jeff Beck – a good friend of mine, and a great, great guitar player – it reminded me of the time we worked together many years ago on a campaign for vegetarianism.
“It’s great guitar playing, ’cause it’s Jeff!”
The song is available to listen to on McCartney’s Meat Free Monday website.
The ‘Let it Be’ hitmaker launched the campaign with his daughters Stella and Mary in 2009 to encourage the nation to help slow climate change by reducing meat consumption.
Following the news that his close friend and collaborator had passed away peacefully after contracting bacterial meningitis, McCartney wrote: “I was so saddened to hear that Jeff Beck had died. Jeff Beck was a lovely man with a wicked sense of humour who played some of the best guitar music ever to come out of Great Britain.”
His death was confirmed in a statement on his official Twitter page, which read: “On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing.
“After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.”
Jeff shot to fame as part of the Yardbirds in the 60s. The legendary guitarist replaced Eric Clapton in the group before he teamed up with Sir Rod Stewart to form the Jeff Beck Group.
His innovative approach to making music influenced a host of well-known artists during the 60s and beyond, including McCartney and the late Jimi Hendrix.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi is the final act confirmed to perform at the BRIT Awards 2023 with Mastercard.
The Scottish superstar – who is currently on his ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’ tour – completes this year’s star-studded bill for the music bash on February 11 at The O2 arena in London.
The ‘Pointless’ singer is nominated for Song of the Year with Mastercard this year, and previously went home with the same prize and Best New Artist in 2020.
Lewis has now revealed he had a “panic attack” before his expletive-laden appearance at the ceremony in 2021.
In a statement, he said: “Last time I played The BRIT Awards I was so scared that I had a panic attack before I went on, and then got hammered afterwards. Looking forward to more of the same this year.”
The ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker was presenting a prize to pop star Dua Lipa when he swore and forced ITV to censor the rest of his speech.
He shouted: “Hello motherf******!”
Lewis went on: “Listen guys.
“I’m f****** sweating. It’s like a swamp down there, I’m telling you. Sweaty b******.
“Hello BRIT Awards! That’s where we are. I’m really sorry, I’m reading off a card here – how is everyone doing?”
The line-up also includes Harry Styles, Lizzo, Sam Smith and Kim Petras, Stormzy, Cat Burns, David Guetta and Becky Hill and Ella Henderson, and Wet Leg.
Comedian Mo Gilligan is returning to host the ceremony for the second year running.

OHMYGOSSIP — Fall Out Boy have announced a joint tour with Bring Me The Horizon and more.
Patrick Stump and co cryptically teased fans by posting BMTH’s umbrella logo from their ‘That’s The Spirit’ album cover on Twitter along with a message mentioning the word “horizon” on January 30.
They told fans to check back the following day for some news.
FOB tweeted: “Things are looking overcast on the horizon. Check back tomorrow to see if weather conditions improve..”
And now, the ‘Dance, Dance’ rockers have unveiled the dates for their upcoming ‘So Much For (Tour) Dust’ North American stadium run with a stacked support line-up.
They will be supported by BMTH and Royal and The Serpent at every show.
And at select shows they will be joined by Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, The Academy Is…, Games We Play, Daisy Grenade, and CARR.
Fall Out Boy teaming up with BMTH comes after they recently sent seashells to fans including the group’s frontman Oli Sykes to tease their new album, ‘So Much (For) Stardust’, which is out on March 24.
Sharing a picture of his package from the pop punk megastars, he wrote on Instagram: “Wtf what is this [and] why is it at my house.”
Meanwhile, FOB will be without guitarist Joe Trohman on the jaunt, while he takes a temporary break from the band to concentrate on his mental health.
In a statement, he said: “Neil Young once howled that it’s better to burn out than to fade away. But I can tell you unequivocally that burning out is dreadful.
“Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years.
“So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell.”
He has vowed to return to the band in the future but insisted it was “necessary” to put his “mental health first”.
He added: “It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride (the sin I’m most proud of).
“So, the question remains: Will I return to the fold? Absolutely, one hundred percent. In the meantime, I must recover which means putting myself and my mental health first.
“Thank you to everyone, including my bandmates and family, for understanding and respecting this difficult, but necessary, decision.”
Fall Out Boy have also teased some “international dates”.
Tickets for the North American leg will go on sale this Friday (03.02.23).

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John’s farewell tour is the highest-grossing concert series of all time.
The ‘Candle in the Wind’ hitmaker embarked on his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ shows in September 2018 and though the run isn’t yet complete, figures reported to Billboard Boxscore show he has already grossed $817.9 million across 278 shows so far, making it the first tour to cross the $800 million benchmark.
The record was initially set by Ed Sheeran in 2019, when his ‘Divide’ tour grossed $776.4 million towards the end of the 258-show run, putting him ahead of U2’s ‘The 360 Tour’, which grossed $736.4 million.
Both Ed and U2’s figures were generated by playing largely stadium shows across six and five continents respectively, whereas Elton’s concerts from 2018 to 2020, and the first part of last year, took place in arenas in North America, Europe and Oceania, before the final leg was set for stadiums in each continent.
The data shows that while the ‘Rocketman’ singer grossed $268.2 million over 116 shows in the first three North American legs, his stadium shows from July-November last year on the same continent generated $222.1 million in just 33 gigs.
Similarly, the European stadium gigs grossed $69.2 million compared with $49.9 million arena shows, despite playing 12 fewer concerts.
But looking at tickets, both Ed and U2 have still outsold Elton, with the 75-year-old singer having sold 5.3 million, which also ranks him behind the Rolling Stones’ 1994-95 ‘Voodoo Lounge’ tour, Coldplay’s ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ concerts in 2016-17, and Guns N’ Roses’ 2016-19 ‘Not In This Lifetime…’ concerts.
The ‘Lego House’ hitmaker tops the attendance charts with 8.9 million tickets, a feat it is impossible for Elton to pass with this tour, though he could move up to fourth place.
Dating back to reports for Elton’s 1986 ‘Ice on Fire’ tour, the ‘Sacrifice’ hitmaker has to date grossed $1.863 billion and sold 19.9 million tickets for over 1,573 shows, including co-headline performances with the likes of Billy Joel, Eric Clapton and Tina Turner.
This tour has seen him pass the highest career gross and attendance for a solo artist in Boxscore history, overtaking Bruce Springsteen and Madonna.
