OHMYGOSSIP — James Bay is in the early stages of his next album and is planning to showcase more of his “guitar playing”.
The ‘Hold Back The River’ hitmaker is going back to his roots for his follow-up to 2022’s ‘Leap’ after enjoying a more raw approach to playing his acoustic guitar as he did on open-mic nights when he was starting out.
He explained: “With all my heroes, a lot of my favourite work of theirs was recorded in the first or second take. It had that sort of carefree [nature], ‘Let’s just do it. Emote and move on to the next thing.’ I’m trying to do that at the moment.”
He continued in an interview with Guitar.com: “[Recording an album] piece by piece by piece? I’ve done that a lot. I totally respect it, it really worked for me in the past. But lately, I’ve been standing in front of a microphone with my acoustic guitar, like I used to do on an open-mic night. I’m just singing the song in. No click. Nothing. Just a performance. And it’s fun! It’s sort of freeing to not have to sort of stress over all the minute details.”
The 32-year-old singer-songwriter insisted the lyrics and the song itself are still important to him, but he really wants to hone in on his guitar skills.
He added: “I do see myself moving towards showcasing more guitar playing in my songs. So maybe [fans’ perceptions] will change as time goes by … but it depends on what the songs dictate.
“The songs are still the most important thing to me, what the melody is doing, what the lyrics are saying, the performance and the delivery of the song. But I will always stand up on stage with a guitar in my hand, so I think, in the studio, I’m gonna give myself a little bit more to do with the guitar.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed new music for King Charles’ coronation.
The 74-year-old composer revealed he is thrilled to have been asked to create new music for the “joyful occasion” and he has incorporated words adapted from Psalm 98 into the anthem.
He tweeted: “I am incredibly honoured to have been asked to compose a new anthem for The Coronation. My anthem includes words adapted from Psalm 98. I have scored it for the Westminster Abbey choir and organ, the ceremonial brass and orchestra. I hope my anthem reflects this joyful occasion.”
The coronation service, which is set to take place at Westminster Abbey on 6 May, will feature 12 newly-commissioned pieces of music.
King Charles has personally chosen the music for the ceremony, which will feature a gospel choir, along with Greek Orthodox music in memory of his late father, Prince Philip.
Classical music from composers such as William Byrd, George Handel and Sir Edward Elgar will be featured, alongside new music including six pieces for orchestra, five choral works and a piece for the organ.
The new music will be composed by Lloyd Webber, Patrick Doyle,, Iain Farrington, Sarah Class, Nigel Hess, Paul Mealor, Tarik O’Regan, Roxanna Panufnik, Shirley J. Thompson, Judith Weir, Roderick Williams and Debbie Wiseman.

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink has hinted at tensions with Christina Aguilera on the set of ‘Lady Marmalade’.
The 43-year-old singer admitted shooting the video with Christina, Lil’ Kim and Mýa for their 2001 cover version of the song was not enjoyable and hinted that Christina was the problem.
She told Buzzfeed: “It wasn’t very fun to make. I’m all about fun and it was like, a lot of fuss, and there were some personalities…Kim and Mýa were nice.
“I guess it is iconic, but I remember I kept crying because my skin didn’t like the makeup. It was just…There was some annoying things happening that day.”
Speaking previously about tensions on set, Pink explained in a 2009 VH1 ‘Behind the Music’ special: “[Record executive] Ron Fair walked in. He didn’t say hi to any of us and said, ‘What’s the high part? What’s the most singing part? Christina’s going to take that part.’
“I stood up, and I said, ‘Hi. How are you? So nice of you to introduce yourself. I’m Pink. She will not be taking that part. I think that’s what the f****** meeting’s about.'”
However, Christina has shared her own version of events, saying: “”I know she had some, you know, feelings or whatever about how the recording of ‘Lady Marmalade’ went down and all that, and I know the actual video, she intimidated me, because she was a little heckling me in the audience, a little bit behind the director and I was like, ‘Oh, what’s going on?’
“That’s what she did back then. But she’s like, you know, she’s a different person now—she’s a mom, she’s like, she’s cool.”

OHMYGOSSIP — You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi didn’t think Blink-182 with Matt Skiba was the same band.
The ‘Stay With Me’ rocker was speaking about the resurgence in emo music and how it’s finally got “a bit more purpose” now groups like Blink – who have reunited with original co-frontman Tom DeLonge – Paramore and My Chemical Romance are back with new music in the same vein of the material they started out making.
He said: “Even Blink reforming with their original lineup, that’s a massive thing for a whole generation of kids. I’ve seen Blink with Matt Skiba. That ain’t Blink-182. Period. It doesn’t matter how you dress it up. I’m not saying he’s not a great guitar player or singer or songwriter, but that is not the Blink-182 that I fell in love with. Or having My Chemical Romance come back, having Paramore come back from a hiatus or whatever – it’s a way of making people feel a little less directionless and have a bit more purpose.”
He added: “How many fans of alternative music walked away from it to just be like, ‘F*** it, I’ll listen to Kendrick Lamar then because nobody’s even bothering making the music I really like that much anymore?’ And if they are, they’re doing a really bad job of it.”
You Me At Six went back to their roots for their latest LP ‘Truth Decay’, which Josh describes as a “homecoming”.
He told MusicFeeds.com.au: “I think it was really important on this album that everybody felt like this was their album. I’m not sure if we were all honest with ourselves that the last two [2021’s ‘Suckapunch’ and 2018’s ‘VI’] have felt that way. And so I think that’s what makes You Me At Six, You Me At Six – all five of us not only literally writing and playing together, but all in the same headspace, and that’s when things can happen really quickly.
“This was kind of a homecoming for You Me At Six and that’s been really great to see.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Freya Ridings wants to duet with Taylor Swift.
The 28-year-old singer made a comeback to the music scene earlier this year with ‘Weekends’ after more than three years away and when asked who she would like to work with in the future, she was quick to admit she is “manifesting” the chance to work with country superstar Taylor, as well as ‘Someone Like You’ songstress Adele and Florence and the Machine frontwoman Florence Welch.
She said: “I’m going to keep saying Taylor Swift until I manifest it because I was so inspired by her growing up, along with Adele and Florence Welch. I’d die to talk with her, even just have a coffee.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Lost Without You’ hitmaker – who is due to release her new album later this year – explained that it is “always scary” to return to the charts but found that its lead single became her “comfort zone” and she had the track as a voice memo on her phone before fans chose it as one to receive an official release.
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “It’s always scary to come back but I wanted to be as brave as I could with the lyrics and sound. My new album, ‘Blood Orange’, is out in May and has been inspired by the 1970s – but ‘Weekends’ was a bit out of my comfort zone. I had ‘Weekends’ as a voice memo on my phone for a long time and the fans helped me choose it as one of the songs to release. Over the pandemic, I started doing weekly Instagram live streams in which I’d play new songs every week, as well as songs such as ‘Castles’ and ‘Lost Without You’. And they helped choose the songs for this album.”
‘Blood Orange’ is set for release on May 5.

OHMYGOSSIP — 50 Cent would love to “offer new music” to fans.
The ‘Candy Shop’ rapper’s last studio album was 2014’s ‘Animal Ambition’, and while he has achieved everything he could dream of in music, he admits it would be nice to perform new tunes for fans at his concerts.
He said: “I get the attention that I want from music when I want it.
“I just went out and toured 45 countries, and everywhere was sold out. That made me want to offer new music that I could integrate into everything now. I’ve done what I wanted to do in the [sales] capacity. I’ve sold over 35 million records. Not singles — albums.”
Reflecting on the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, the ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin” star admitted he found his experience within the community “uncomfortable” as he made lots of rivals on his way to the top.
He told Billboard: “My run was so uncomfortable that everyone would like to forget that it happened. That’s just the way it is with the artist community.
“I didn’t come in being friendly because I had to find a way into it — not find a way to be good enough to work in the community. The biggest compliment in the early stages was that artists felt like they’d made it when they got the deal. You had to earn the right to have the deal.”
The ‘In da Club’ hitmaker hinting at new music comes after the producer revealed his plans to turn ‘8 Mile’ into a TV show.
The 47-year-old rap star is currently working on a TV adaptation of the 2002 drama film, which starred Eminem alongside Michael Shannon, Anthony Mackie, and Kim Basinger.
He shared: “It’s gonna be big. I’m working. I ain’t got no duds. I’m batting 100.”
The rapper was actually discovered by Eminem and he thinks the TV show could enhance the legacy of the ‘Real Slim Shady’ hitmaker.
He told the ‘BigBoyTV’ YouTube channel in January: “I think it should be there for his legacy because it’s important to me that they understand it.”
He explained that the show will provide a “backstory” to the hit film. He also revealed that it could explore Eminem’s younger years.

Producer Patrik Berger – who has worked with both stars on hits including ‘Boom Clap’ and ‘Dancing On My Own’ – took to Instagram to share a snap of himself with the pair in the studio.
He captioned the post: “Thank you @charli_xcx and @robynkonichiwa for a great day in the studio. And thank you for my entire career basically!”
Charli, 30, was the opening act for Robyn, 43, at the start of her career and she is thankful to the singer for helping her with her nerves.
The ‘Used to Know Me’ singer shared in 2020: “I’ll never forget when we were on tour in Australia together years ago. You came over to me at some party where I was feeling really nervous and you said, ‘Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks of you. We’ll have fun together, being ourselves.
“It was a really simple gesture, but one that has stuck with me forever.”
The Swedish pop star admitted that she wished she had also learned to just “have fun” and block out what everyone else thinks at the start of her own career.
She responded in the joint interview: “I wish I’d known that earlier! I also wish [I’d known] the difference between things [you] can fix versus those you can’t – [whether regarding] relationships, songs, or work.
“I don’t know if I’ve figured that one out yet; I was raised in an environment [where one] had to fix things [themselves]. “Sometimes I’m sad [about] that. I hope to free myself of the fixing – to have more fun and to roll with the punches.”
Meanwhile, Charli and her ‘Gone’ collaborator Christine and the Queens honoured Robyn with the Songwriter Of The Decade prize at the NME Awards earlier that year.
And the ‘With Every Heart Beat’ singer paid special mentions to her peers, including Charli, Chris and Taylor Swift, who were at the ceremony.
She said: “I’ve prepared a long speech. I feel like I’m at the awards show at the Fifth Element, the [Luc Besson] film and I’m very flattered for the appreciation that NME has shown me over the years.
“But this is kind of a lifelong prize to be the Songwriter Of The Decade and I appreciate it so much.
“There are so many good songs written by so many good songwriters over this decade.
“Some of them I have had the privilege to work with.
“Two of them are here tonight and I love them both so much.

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Simpson has released a new EP of songs he performed on ‘The Masked Singer’.
The Busted and Fightstar frontman was crowned the winner of the ITV reality singing competition on Saturday night (18.02.23) after performing in the disguise of Rhino, and he’s now made the covers available to stream.
After winning the show, Charlie announced on Instagram: “I’ve been so blown away by all the support! So I’ve decided to release a few songs I sang on the show as an EP named ‘KIFARU’ the Swahili for Rhino.
“I hope you like it. Big love.”
‘KIFARU’ includes his original song ‘I See You’, along with Charlie’s versions of Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Before You Go’, Kings of Leon’s ‘Use Somebody’ and Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’.
Speaking about his experience on the programme, Charlie shared: “I was terrified the entire time. The thing I was scared most of was remembering lyrics. I often forget lyrics to my own songs on stage!”
Charlie also confessed to being pessimistic about his chances of winning the show at the start of the competition.
Despite this, he was determined to have fun on the programme, regardless of the result.
Asked if he felt he would win the series by host Joel Dommett, the pop star replied: “No, I was just like, ‘remember the lyrics and have fun.'”
Earlier in the show, Natalie Appleton was unmasked as Fawn.
The 49-year-old pop star was the first finalist to be unmasked after she received the fewest number of public votes.
After her elimination was confirmed, Natalie – who is best known as a member of the British girl group All Saints – said: “I loved fooling you guys – it was such a buzz!”
Meanwhile, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson was later unmasked as Phoenix.
The judges were stunned when Ricky, 45, removed his masked – especially Rita Ora, as she’d previously worked alongside him on ‘The Voice UK’.
Rita, 32 – who was a coach with the ‘I Predict A Riot’ hitmaker on ‘The Voice’ in 2015 – said: “Oh my God, we did a whole show together!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Doherty has announced his first solo acoustic tour in a decade.
The indie legend will be performing solo tracks alongside classics from The Libertines and Babyshambles as part of ‘The Battered Songbook Tour’.
The UK and Ireland run will kick off in Belfast – where he grew up – at the Limelight on April 13, and wrap at the legendary Royal Albert Hall in London on May 5.
Gig-goers can expect “an unforgettable ride into his strange and fascinating world.”
Peter’s most recent albums include 2019’s ‘Peter Doherty and The Puta Madres’ and last year’s collaboration with Frederic Lo ‘The Fantasy Life of Poetry and Crime’.
He’s released three albums with The Libertines – 2002’s ‘Up The Bracket’, 2004’s ‘The Libertines’ and 2015’s ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’ – and three with Babyshambles (2005’s ‘Down In Albion, 2007’s ‘Shotters Nation’ and 2013’s ‘Sequel To The Prequel’).
As well as, the solo albums ‘Grace/Wastelands’ in 2009 and 2017’s ‘Hamburg Demonstrations’.
Former addict Peter has completely overhauled his lifestyle and hasn’t touched heroin since 2019.
And he revealed last year that he penned a song while he was “white-knuckling it with drugs.”
The Libertines and Babyshambles rocker released the track ‘You Can’t Keep It From Me Forever’ from his album with French musician and composer Frederic, which is inspired by his bid to beat his addictions and the “self-sabotaging” feeling that it wouldn’t be long before he would be back to his old ways.
On what inspired the lyrics, he told NME: “I suppose it’s a not-even subconscious yearning for things.
“I’ve been clean since December 2019, so at the time of writing this I was really white-knuckling it with the drugs and feeling like it would only be a matter of time before I went back to it.
“It hasn’t turned out to be that way, but there was that kind of kicking out at the new way of being clean and feeling like it was temporary.
“You can apply that to any kind of yearning, but to me it was specifically about that. Time passed, and I’ve managed to somehow keep on the straight and narrow, if it is indeed straight and narrow.
“That’s the honest answer, but it seems silly to give that answer now, though. If it really was such a necessity then I would have just gone out and used. I suppose this is just a smarmy, self-sabotaging sort of thing, but just in the role of a narrator.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Beabadoobee says Taylor Swift is “empowering for women”.
The ‘Coffee’ singer is set to open for the Grammy winner on select dates of ‘The Eras Tour’, which kicks off next month, and it’s a full-circle moment for the 22-year-old Filipino-British musician – whose real name is Beatrice Laus – who dreamed of supporting the ‘Anti-Hero’ hitmaker.
Speaking to The Times newspaper, she said: “I remember telling an interviewer that my dream support was Taylor Swift and then I got a call from my manager saying she wants you to go on tour with her. I messaged all my girlfriends: ‘Guess f****** what . . .'”
The ‘Glue Song’ singer went on to heap praise on the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker for advocating for equality for women.
She said: “I’ve always loved her music. I grew up with it. I think ‘Love Story’ was the ringtone on my Nokia when I was seven. I’m not a major, major Swifty, but I can appreciate what an amazing songwriter she is and how talented and successful and empowering she is for women.”
Beabadoobee – who is dating director Jake Erland – is now dreaming of the pop megastar performing at her future wedding.
She laughed: “If I end up having a Vegas wedding, I really want her to sing.”
Elsewhere, the acclaimed singer-songwriter – who previously supported her Dirty Hit labelmates The 1975 – also opened up about the dark side of the social media app TikTok and the “grim comments” she has received from young boys on her videos.
She said: “There’s this weird sexualisation.
“You go on their profile and they look like babies. I’m, like, what is going on with you?
“I think there’s this weird generation of kids on TikTok that have no sort of boundaries or social understanding of what’s weird to say. I think people feel like the phone screen separates them from being a d***. It doesn’t.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Azalea has shared a snippet of a new song on social media.
The Australian rapper recently promised fans new music this summer, and now she’s posted a clip of a music video for the untitled track to her Instagram and Twitter pages.
Iggy – who rides a jet ski and sunbathes on the deck of a super yacht in the eye-popping clip – also directed fans to her OnlyFans page, where she charges $25 per month for a subscription to receive her X-rated content.
She captioned the video: “Link in bioooo lmaoooo (sic)”
In November, Iggy revealed she had sold her entire master recording and publishing catalogue to Domain Capital for an impressive eight-figure sum, and boasted that she does not need to “work another day in my life”.
However, she still plans to release new music.
When one fan on Twitter asked when they can expect new tunes, she replied: “Music?… summer. Scandalous s***?… Friday.”
The rapper hasn’t released new music since 2021’s ‘The End Of An Era’ LP.
Iggy had announced her hiatus from music following the album’s release to focus on other “creative projects”.
However, in August last year, she confirmed she was returning to the art form.
She tweeted at the time: “If I can’t have peace, neither can you.
“I’m coming back. Cry about it.”
Iggy recently admitted she’s in “an amazing place” in her life.
She explained how she managed to “regrow” her confidence and she’s “smiling bigger than ever now”.
Iggy’s confession was prompted by a complimentary post from a Twitter follower, which read: “Iggy, I’ve been following you since 2014 and I can tell you that you seem to be much happier. I saw your smile yesterday at the show and I was like: she knows she won. Have a nice day mom! [heart emoji] (sic)”
In response, Iggy said: “Thankyou! I’m in an amazing place…
“It takes time to regrow your confidence in yourself
“but I’m smiling bigger than ever now [celebratory emoji] (sic)”
Iggy jokingly added: “I would be a lot happier right now if I had a personal sized pizza in my hands. (sic)”
Iggy previously confessed to feeling “utterly deprived of a personal life” during her early years in the music business.
The star – who has Onyx, three, with ex-boyfriend Playboi Carti – wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “Here’s the thing I think everyone working hard toward a dream should know.
“On the road to ur goal there will be moments u feel insane, utterly deprived of a personal life and like everything’s falling apart.
“When u reach ur goal… u will still have those moments.

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Justice is “definitely” releasing an album.
The former ‘Zoey 101’ star celebrated her 30th birthday with the release of her new single, ‘Last Man Standing’, on Sunday (19.02.23).
And while she is focused on releasing singles at the moment, she has confirmed her debut studio album is in the making.
Speaking to Variety about the new song and her milestone birthday, she said: “I’m stepping into my 30s in this place of feeling empowered.
“I feel like this song really captures a lot of that energy, and it’s fun, and it’s kind of sexy, and it’s got these very strong themes of female empowerment, so it just felt like a really good fit.”
On her album progress, she added: “I definitely am releasing an album — that’s happening.
“I can’t say that that is done right now by any means, but I think right now, I’m focusing on releasing some singles. I have a collection of songs right now that I’m really proud of.”
‘Last Man Standing’ follows 2021’s ‘Too F*****’ Nice’ and 2020’s ‘Treat Myself’.
Victoria – who shot to fame as Lola Martinez alongside Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoey Brooks) in the US TV drama ‘Zoey 101’ in 2005 – also revealed her dream collaborator is ‘Escapism’ hitmaker Raye.
The actress-and-singer – who went on to star as Tori Vega on the teen sitcom ‘Victorious’ from 2010 to 2013 – also explained why she isn’t part of the ‘Zoey 101’ reboot.
A film is on the way to Paramount+ and Victoria is gutted that she wasn’t able to reprise her role.
She said: “The timing of everything didn’t work out, but I’ve been in touch with Jamie and the entire cast, and they could not be more understanding and more supportive.
“Ultimately, I would love to be there with them. I loved doing that show. It was such a pivotal point in my life, and I had so much fun making it. I love that cast; we had such a great time, and I just have so much love for them.”
Music is Victoria’s focus for the time being.
She added: “I feel really grateful. I feel really content in the place that I am in life right now, and I’m hopeful and excited for the future.
“I’m really looking forward to releasing the new music that I’ve been working on. And I hope that people love it and resonate with it. And I just want to express like all the gratitude that I have for my fans and the people who have been supporting me for, well, I don’t know, like two decades.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink was told her music career “would be over” if she had children.
The ‘Never Gonna Not Dance Again’ hitmaker – who has daughter Willow, 11, and son Jameson, six, with her husband Carey Hart – was told she would put her career in jeopardy if she started a family, however, the 43-year-old pop star believes it actually “began” after she became a mother.
She told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “Everyone told me, ‘If you have children right now, your career’s over.’ But I think, interestingly enough for me, everyone has this idea of me that I’m just my singles, right? That I’m the snarling, man-eating angry, like she-man. Right? And, obviously, we’re all much more complex than any of that, but when I had a child, I think it softened me to the world, the part that didn’t understand me. And I think that’s when my career began, really. I mean, I did a lot of stuff before that, but really, truly, I think it’s when I started to really understand myself and understand the world, and my place in it.”
The ‘Trouble’ hitmaker – who released her ninth studio album ‘Trustfall’ today (17.02.23) – admits she felt “lonely” just doing music and starting a family was just as important as being an entertainer for her.
She explained: “Having a family was really important to me because my family life was screwed as a kid and I’m super-affectionate and cuddly and goofy. Just doing music wasn’t enough for me. I was lonely. I was so lonely. It’s a very lonely business. I really wanted to have a family and it was just as important to me as ambition because I didn’t want it, if it’s just … if this is the carrot, I’ve eaten it. I’m still hungry. I’m hungry. I’m empty, and I love writing songs. I love singing songs. I love performing. Sitting with a guitar is one of my favourite things I’ll ever do, but cuddling with my babies and taking them camping and being dirty for three days is also one of the coolest things I’ll ever do, and making wine also happens to be pretty cool.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Niall Horan admits it’s “really scary” releasing new music after being away for a while.
The Irish pop star – who shot to fame as a member of the chart-topping boy band One Direction – is back today (17.02.23) with his first new music since his 2020 LP ‘Heartbreak Weather’, ‘Heaven’, from his upcoming third solo album ‘The Show’.
And the ‘Slow Hands’ singer is a “little nervous” for fans to hear the “version” of himself presented in the lyrics.
He explained in a letter to fans: “Thank you so much for being patient with me. I’ve since spent the past 18 months or so working on the next record.
“Joel Little, John Ryan and I got working on some ideas that I’d written at home during lockdown, and of course some newer stuff.”
He continued: “What makes this record incredibly special to me is it’s a reflection of where I am in my life today, as a person, a musician, and of course, as a songwriter. Can’t say I’m not a little nervous, but hopefully, you’ll still like this version of me when you listen to the new record.
“There’s something really scary about being away for so long and coming back with new music, but I couldn’t be more thankful for all you amazing people that have stood by and supported me all of these years.
“These songs are for you, as much as they are for me.”
Thanking his fans for their continued support, he added: “I couldn’t possibly be more happy to tell you that my new album ‘The Show’ will be released on June 9th.
“This album is a piece of work I’m so proud of and now it’s time to pass it over to you to go and make it your own. Thank you so much for being there for me all this time and I can’t wait to share the next couple of years of this new era with you. I’ve missed you all so much. It’s good to be back.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Blondie are playing Glastonbury 2023.
The group’s drummer Clem Burke has let slip that the Debbie Harry-fronted punk rock band are joining headliner Sir Elton John at the world-famous festival in Somerset in June.
The band are already playing Crystal Palace Park on July 1, plus the Isle of Wight Festival in June. Glastonbury takes place at Worthy Farm between June 21 to June 25.
He told Foxy Radio: “We’re also doing Isle of Wight and we’re doing some other festivals.
“I guess it hasn’t really been announced, the full list of artists to be playing Glastonbury, but we are going to be playing Glastonbury, so maybe you got an exclusive there.”
The only act confirmed so far is retiring music legend, Sir Elton John.
The 75-year-old star will play the Pyramid stage on the final night of his last UK tour on Sunday, June 25.
Elton – who has never played Glastonbury before – said: “I couldn’t be more excited to be headlining the Pyramid Stage. As the end of my ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour comes into view, there is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans. They have been beyond brilliant, and have supported me through all the highs and lows of my career.
“Every week I speak to new artists on my radio show and Glastonbury is often cited as a pivotal moment in launching their careers – the festival’s genuine, enthusiastic support for the best emerging talent is something I’ve long admired. I’ve been talking to Emily Eavis about it over the last few weeks and I can’t wait to embrace the spirit of the greatest festival in the world. It’s going to be incredibly emotional.”
And the ‘Tiny Dancer’ hitmaker is already planning to ask his celebrity pals to join him.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Elton knows just about everyone in music so he’s not short of names he could ask to appear with him on stage.
“Glastonbury has long been linked with some epic special guests, and Elton’s set will be one of the biggest ever.
“Sir Paul McCartney was joined by Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl this year and Elton wants to top that, which will be no mean feat.
“It’s been years in the making but now he has finally signed on the ¬dotted line. Everyone is excited to put the plans into action.”
Other artists rumoured to be playing this year include Arctic Monkeys and Taylor Swift.
Last year’s festival was headlined by Sir Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar.

OHMYGOSSIP — The late Christine McVie has been hailed “one of a kind” by Mike Campbell.
The Fleetwood Mac legend died in hospital in November, aged 79, following a brief illness, and Mike, who toured with the ‘Dreams’ group on their 2018 and 2019 tour in replacement of axed guitarist Lindsey Buckingham – along with Crowded House’s Neil Finn – has paid a touching tribute to the gifted pianist, vocalist and songwriter, who he said was “so jovial all the time”.
Speaking to Guitar Player magazine, the musician – who was famously a member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – shared: “Oh god, yeah, Christine… I really loved her. She was 2/3 such a sweet soul. Of all the people on that tour, she was just the kindest. Everybody was kind, but she was just so sweet all the time, always cheerful and happy to see you and just happy to play together and so jovial all the time. And she could really play. She came from a blues background, so she understood the essence of that music, which I really appreciated. And she’s a great songwriter – her songs were the hits, you know. I just tried to work on her songs and make them sound true to the way she recorded them and just respect where they were coming from. I’m very sad she left us. It’s a great loss for a lot of people, but god bless her. She was really one of a kind.”
Christine’s family announced her death in November via a statement posted on Facebook.
The family hailed her as “an incredible human being” and a “revered musician”.
The statement read: “It is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death.
“She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness. She was in the company of her family.
“We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally.”
