OHMYGOSSIP — Post Malone’s ‘Circles’ songwriting lawsuit was settled minutes before trial.
The 27-year-old star, his producer Frank Dukes, and Universal Music Group were sued by Tyler Armes in April 2020, who was seeking royalties and other money owed from the 2019 hit as well as asking for co-writer and co-producer credits on the song, and on the same day, the ‘Rockstar’ hitmaker filed a lawsuit of his own to ask a judge to rule the man had no claim to the song’s copyright and was not involved in writing it.
However, just moments before Post was due to testify as part of a four-day trial, an agreement was reached.
No details on the settlement were offered to The Hollywood Reporter on request.
In a court filing, Post – whose real name is Austin Post – had insisted Tyler didn’t contribute anything “original” to the song, just “an admittedly extremely commonplace guitar chord progression,” and potentially a “fragment of a guitar melody that Armes claims he sung to Post.”
Documents obtained by Rolling Stone magazine read: “Armes admitted that his contributions did not even rise to the level of originality, which is also required in addition to the fixation requirement. He either conceded that his ideas were commonplace musical devices or failed to meet his burden to demonstrate any originality otherwise. Armes thus cannot even establish the threshold requirement that he made a copyrightable contribution.
“Armes does not have a shred of affirmative evidence with which to meet his burden of proof that his alleged contribution to the guitar melody is original.”
Post asked for Armes’ lawsuit to be dismissed and for the judge to conclude the writer is “not a joint author” of the track.
A lawyer acting on behalf of Armes – who claimed he was initially offered five per cent of the song’s royalties but that was removed entirely when he tried to negotiate a larger share – had accused Post of making a “desperate” bid to avoid a trial.
Allison Hart said: “We believe that the motion for summary judgment is a desperate attempt by Post Malone and Frank Dukes to try to avoid a trial in this action. We are confident that we will prevail in defeating the motion and look forward to going before a jury.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Who’s Pete Townshend has released his first solo single in nearly 30 years.
Money raised from the vinyl sales of ‘Can’t Outrun The Truth’ and a portion of the digital downloads will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust – the charity his bandmate Roger Daltrey is patron of – as Pete wanted to help after the COVID-19 Lockdown saw many charities struggle.
In a statement, the 77-year-old guitar legend said: “The pandemic years were terrible for charities; the Teenage Cancer Trust was created in order to take the money from a series of concerts at the Albert Hall every year and various other things and that had all dropped out.
“So, the idea of doing this, which is something that has sprung out of Lockdown about mental illness, but also for this particular charity. If you’ve got a scenario in which somebody in your family or a teenager has got cancer, they’re being treated, Lockdown hits, and you’re not allowed to go and visit them. There’s a poignancy to the whole thing about the song.”
Pete’s last solo album was 1993’s rock opera concept LP ‘Psychoderelict’.
However, in 2015, he shared the songs ‘Guantanamo’ and ‘How Can I Help You’ on the compilation ‘Truancy: The Very Best Of Pete Townshend’.
Meanwhile, Roger recently admitted there is “no point” in releasing another Who album.
The ‘My Generation’ hitmaker, 79, insists fans are more interested in listening to the legendary rock group’s greatest hits, despite their latest LP, 2019’s ‘Who’, reaching number three on the UK Albums Chart and number two on the American Billboard 200.
In an interview with NME, he said: “What’s the point?”
Roger continued: “What’s the point of records? We released an album four years ago, and it did nothing.
“It’s a great album too, but there isn’t the interest out there for new music these days. People want to hear the old music. I don’t know why, but that’s the fact.”
He added: “Record companies, they just don’t do the same job as they used to.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran turned his grief into a giant blue monster for his ‘Eyes Closed’ music video.
After losing his close friends Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne within weeks of each other last year, the 32-year-old pop star revisited the old track he’d penned about a break-up and it became a song about loss.
In the video, Ed is followed by the monster on a night out and is “unable to shake it, wherever he goes, reminding him of the void that’s left in his life.”
He said of the song: “This song is about losing someone, feeling like every time you go out and you expect to just bump into them, and everything just reminds you of them and the things you did together. You sorta have to take yourself out of reality sometimes to numb the pain of loss, but certain things just bring you right back into it.”
Ed added of the video: “When I was thinking of concepts for the Eyes Closed music video, I wanted to make a video inspired by movies like Harvey, where the main character has an imaginary friend who’s a giant rabbit that no one can see. There’s also a book I read my daughters where sadness is encapsulated by an imaginary creature. Often sadness is something that follows you around, engulfing the rooms you’re in, and you can feel and see it, but no one else around you can. So I decided to create my own big blue monster for the video. He gets bigger and bigger as the video goes on, till he takes up whole rooms, and is all I can see, just like sadness.”
The single is taken from Ed’s upcoming album, ‘-‘, which is released on May 5.
The album contains the Grammy winner’s “deepest, darkest thoughts” after the deaths of the ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker’s best friends and after learning his wife Cherry Seaborn – with whom he has Lyra, two, and Jupiter, nine months – had a tumour while pregnant with their second child.
There is also a whole chapter called ‘Loss’ on Ed’s upcoming Disney+ docu-series, ‘Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All’ for Disney+, out on May 3.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey has released her ninth studio album, ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd’.
The 37-year-old singer’s follow-up to 2021’s ‘Blue Banisters’ has a strong theme of family and relationships running throughout it, with the star asking if she can have a baby of her own on ‘Fingertips’.
She sings: “Will the baby be alright? / Can I have one of mine? / Can I handle it?”
On ‘Sweet’, she asks a partner: “Do you want children? / Do you wanna marry me? / Do you wanna run marathons in Long Beach by the sea?”
Elsewhere, she sings about other family members, including her late uncle Dave Grant.
Five of the songs were written with ex-boyfriend, Mike Hermosa – including ‘Fingertips’ – who also served as a producer on the LP alongside Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes, and Benji.
The record features Jon Batiste, Bleachers, Father John Misty, Judah Smith, Tommy Genesis, and SYML.
Lana seemingly threw shade at her ex Sean Larkin by only promoting the album in his hometown.
The ‘Born To Die’ hitmaker had a billboard erected in the police officer’s home city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, advertising ‘Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’.
The Los Angeles Times reported earlier this year that the ‘Video Games’ singer posted a selfie of herself in a car with the billboard seen in the background.
The picture was posted on the star’s private Instagram account and had the caption: “There’s only one and it’s in Tulsa.”
And when asked by a fan why she chose Tulsa, she replied: “It’s. Personal.”
Meanwhile, the ‘White Dress’ singer is set to headline Glastonbury’s Other Stage in June, which she recently admitted is “unfathomable”.
She told BBC Radio 1: “I’ve been excited to tell people, so I wanted to tell people because, as we started to announce some festivals, it’s unfathomable to me to headline the second stage of Glastonbury.
“They had asked me to play Glastonbury the last three years but we just weren’t ready. I didn’t want to say yes before we had a big band.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Ashcroft is set to play the picturesque Englefield House in Berkshire, England, this summer.
The former The Verve frontman is playing in the grounds of the Elizabethan country house and estate nestled in South East England on July 22, as part of the Heritage Live concert series.
The Ivor Novello winner will be joined by the Britpop group Ocean Colour Scene.
Promoter, Giles Cooper of GCE Live said: “We’re so excited to be promoting this show with Richard for Heritage Live. I remember seeing The Verve’s first-ever London gig at the King’s Head pub in Fulham in 1991, when I worked at NME, with just ten people in the audience. OHMYGOSSIP — The 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s seminal album ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ is being celebrated across the globe.
The remastered deluxe box set of the 1973 record has been released today (24.03.23) to mark the seminal LP’s major milestone.
Plus fans can get their hands on the CD and first-ever vinyl issue of ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon – Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974’, and the book ‘Pink Floyd – The Dark Side Of The Moon: 50th Anniversary’.
To further mark the occasion, in New York, the iconic Empire State Building will be illuminated with the band’s 50th Anniversary prism spectrum artwork, which will spin in its mast. The display will start at sunset tonight (24.03.23) and will be seen throughout the city. Those not in the Big Apple can view it from the Empire State Building Live Cam.
Meanwhile, in Italy, a light show at Milan’s Duomo square saw the prism cover 500 square meters, plus the rainbow ray of lights and the white beam, from 8pm on Thursday (23.03.23).
Fans are also able to have an immersive experience listening to ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ at planetariums across the globe.

OHMYGOSSIP — Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx is the latest artist to contribute to Dolly Parton’s rock album.
The ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ rocker has revealed he has recorded a bass part on one of the tracks on the 77-year-old country pop legend’s upcoming LP, which she wanted to make after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He tweeted this week: “Played bass on a song for Dolly Parton yesterday. Been back in the gym again to beat the jet-lag from the tour and enjoying family time. Had a great interview with Sweden Rock magazine and they might even feature some of my street photography.”
The album also features a duet with Sir Elton John on his 1974 hit ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’, plus Sir Paul McCartney on the Beatles classic ‘Let it Be’.
Dolly also recently admitted that “hopefully” she will be able to team up with Cher for the album, and confirmed her goddaughter Miley Cyrus would “definitely” be on the record.
She said: “We’re definitely going to have her on.”
Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks will also feature.
During an appearance on ‘The View’, she was asked if Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger has added his pipes to a tune, to which she replied: “Well I’m doing my best to try and get him on [‘Rock Star’].
“But I did his song anyway.”
Pink and Brandi Carlile are lined up to perform on ‘Satisfaction’ by the Stones.
Dolly teased: “I think Pink and Brandi Carlile are gonna be singing on that particular song [the Stones’ ‘Satisfaction’] with me.”
The ‘9 to 5’ singer added: “Stevie Nicks … we just finished our song last night.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Young is the latest artist to hit out at the ludicrous prices music fans are paying for concert tickets.
After The Cure’s frontman Robert Smith said he was “sickened” by the inflated prices, leading to fans to receive partial refunds on Ticketmaster fees for the band’s US tour dates, the music legend has blasted sites like Ticketmaster and scalpers for ruining live music by taking advantage of gig-goers.
In a new entry on his Neil Young Archives website, the 77-year-old musician said: “It’s over. The old days are gone.
“I get letters blaming me for $3,000.00 tickets for a benefit I am doing. That money does not go to me or the benefit. Artists have to worry about ripped off fans blaming them for Ticketmaster add-ons and scalpers.”
The ‘Heart Of Gold’ hitmaker added: “Concert tours are no longer fun. Concert tours not what they were.”
Tickets for The Cure’s upcoming dates went on sale last week and sparked fury among fans who slammed Ticketmaster’s costly fees with some claiming the add-on was more than the ticket price itself – and the ‘Lovecats’ hitmaker waded into the row on Twitter explaining the band had no control over the extras slapped on by the company.
He wrote: “I am sickened as you all are by today’s Ticketmaster fees debacle. To be clear: the artist has no way to limit them. I have been asking how they are justified. If I get anything coherent by way of an answer I will let you all know.”
Robert, 63, also took aim at the company’s dynamic pricing strategy which changes the cost of tickets according to demand, branding it “a scam”.
He added: “We didn’t agree to the ‘dynamic pricing’/’price surging’/’platinum ticket’ thing … because it is itself a bit of a scam? A separate conversation.”
However, Ticketmaster bosses seemingly heeded his complaints and the veteran rocker later confirmed many fans would be getting some of their money back.
He added: “After further conversation, Ticketmaster have agreed with us that many of the fees being charged were unduly high, and as a gesture of goodwill have offered a $10 per ticket refund to all verified fan accounts for lowest ticket price (‘ltp’) transactions.
“And a $5 ticket refund to all verified fan accounts for all other ticket price transactions, for all Cure shows at all venues; if you already bought a ticket you will get an automatic refund. All tickets on sale tomorrow will incur lower fees.”
The Cure will kick off their 2023 North American dates on May 10 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and conclude the trek on July 1 in Miami, Florida.

OHMYGOSSIP — Becky Hill is moving to Ibiza.
The 29-year-old English singer and songwriter has decided to relocate to the Spanish island for the summer and she is looking forward to doing some writing there.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I am going to be living out in Ibiza this year, which will be great.
“Hopefully I can do a bit of writing and settle into general life over there.
“It will be nice not having the stress of the plane touching down and racing to the venue.
“I have an apartment and I am going to fly my little dog called Pig out there. I missed her a lot last year.
“She had to spend a lot of time at her minder’s due to my schedule.
“I want to have a life in Ibiza instead of living out of a suitcase.”
However, Becky has no plans to throw herself into the clubbing scene in Ibiza as she has cut down on drinking.
She said: “My hangovers now last more than 24 hours which I am absolutely f****** gutted about. Alcohol stopped being my friend.
If I drink a little bit now, the implications of having a two-day hangover where I can’t get out of bed and do my job aren’t worth it.
“I get very negative on a hangover so I think it’s better for me to pick my moments instead of having a drink after a show or going out at the weekend.
“I definitely want to do some fitness retreats when I move to Ibiza.
“Right now I only know the clubs Hï and Amnesia, and they definitely don’t do health and fitness.”

OHMYGOSSIP — U2 guitarist The Edge wants to be “the vanguard of this resurgence of guitars”.
The 61-year-old rock legend has revealed he has a lot of “great material waiting” and that he hopes frontman Bono’s LP that he wants to release before ‘Songs of Ascent’, which is a “noisy, uncompromising, unreasonable guitar album”, will be their next project.
Speaking to the latest issue of MOJO magazine, The Edge said of U2’s planned rock album: “Well, I would love that to be the next U2 record! The lockdown was a very creative period for me, just in composing music. I don’t want to jinx ourselves… but there’s a lot of great material waiting. I think the guitar is coming back. I really feel it. And I would like to be part of that.
He continued: “I’d like to be the vanguard of this resurgence of guitars! Don’t get me wrong – talking to people I know who work at Fender [guitar shop], they’re selling more guitars now than they’ve ever sold. But in terms of popular culture, there’s been a drift away from the instrument, it would be fair to say.
“And I think that pendulum is going to start swinging the other direction. Because it’s such an incredibly expressive instrument. The few bands that are using it well, it’s still fresh.
“Doesn’t necessarily have to feel like you’ve heard it all before.”
The ‘With or Without You’ hitmaker was then asked if U2 have to be aware of what’s current in music or if they can set the trends, to which he replied: “We do that as well (laughs). I dunno … To not have any ear for what’s relevant within the culture is just being out of touch. You can do stuff that’s completely against the grain, but you still want to know where the grain is. I think about it in terms of the flow of a river – if you’re not in the flow, you’re part of an oxbow lake.
“And I want to be part of the flow.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran has announced a special gig in support of his new album ‘Subtract’.
The 32-year-old singer/songwriter and his collaborator, Aaron Dessner from The National, will take to the stage in Brooklyn on April 10th to perform the album “all the way through”.
The album isn’t due out until May 5 so the audience at the show will be among the first to hear ‘Subtract’ in its entirety.
Ed wrote on Instagram: “I’m playing another special album show at Kings Theatre in New York on 10th April. Me and @aarondessner will be playing Subtract all the way through with a full band. These shows are gonna be some of the most magical of my career, I can’t wait for this one. We rehearsed this on Monday and I can’t describe how excited I am.”
Aaron also wrote: “Pleased to announce that I’m playing another special show at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on April 10th with @teddysphotos and an amazing band of close friends and collaborators. We’ll be playing the album we made, Subtract, all the way through. I’m really excited for you all to hear it!”
Dessner and Sheeran were first introduced by Taylor Swift, when he helped to produce Ed’s song ‘Run’ with Taylor, from the album ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’.
He previously shared on Instagram: “I was introduced to @teddysphotos through @taylorswift when I helped produce their song “Run” for Taylor’s Version of Red last year. It was special for me to hear two old friends singing together and bringing the past to life – and an interesting way to meet someone, working on music remotely first before actually meeting in person. Some time later we met up in New York City for dinner and talked at length about music and life. It felt so relaxed and as if we already knew each other. Thinking about Ed’s music, I realized I was hearing things in my head I thought we could explore, musical ideas that would allow for more space and bring out what I admire about his guitar playing and incredible voice. I spent some time sketching these ideas and shared a folder with Ed. A few months later in the winter of 2021, he started writing to them and sending sometimes multiple song ideas a day, inspired by a very difficult period he was going through in his life. I could really empathize with what he was feeling and was eager to help realize these songs.
“We then met up to work in England at the beginning of 2022 and finished over 30 songs together in a week. I’m so excited to share that 14 of the songs we made in that time comprise Ed’s 6th album, “subtract”, which will Be released on May 5th. I couldn’t be more proud of this record and the vulnerability and honesty Ed showed in making these songs with me. There’s something deeply vulnerable and ultimately cathartic and therapeutic about shifting sadness and pain and anxiety into music, transforming darkness into light in this way and sharing these sentiments with others. OHMYGOSSIP — Nova Twins refuse to reveal the secrets of their unique sound.
The acclaimed alternative duo – comprising Amy Love and Georgia South – have conjured up their own personal fusion of rock, punk, and hip-hop and they don’t want to let on too soon about what instruments and processes they have to achieve their sound after a rival band tried to copy them by taking a picture of their gear.
Georgia is a huge Tom Morello fan but wouldn’t want to sound exactly the same as her idol.
Speaking to the latest issue of Guitar World magazine, Georgia said: “Tom Morello revealed his secrets a lot later in his career.
“Maybe when we’re his age we’ll do it. If people come around and have dinner at your Nan’s, you don’t ask for the recipe! I haven’t looked up how Tom Morello gets his sound. I don’t want to know the magic. You have to find your own route because there’s already a Tom Morello. When somebody idolises someone too much, you end up being like them, but you’ll never be as good as them.”
Meanwhile, Amy spoke out after the pair – whose second album ‘Supernova’ was nominated for the 2022 Mercury Prize – were compared to Skunk Anansie’s frontwoman Skin and admitted it feels like a lazy comparison just because they are Black women.
She said: “They’re incredible live, and we’ve played with them, but as two bands we’re completely different. The only association is obviously we’re Black women.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry was forced to spend “so much money” correcting her ‘California Gurls’ music video after her spray tan went wrong.
The 38-year-old singer “didn’t have time” to get her bronze glow applied the night before a shoot so had no choice but to undergo the treatment just hours before she was needed to film – and found herself getting “oranger and oranger” as they day went on.
Looking back on her ‘Life in Looks’ on a video for Vogue.com, she said: “Funny story behind this is that I look super tan here, right?
“Rarely do I get spray tans, and typically you’re supposed to get them the night before. Well, I just didn’t have time. So, I got them the day of my music video.
“When you get a tan the morning of your music video, your colour changes gradually throughout the day. So, I just kept on getting oranger and oranger and oranger.
“We had to spend so much extra money on colour-grading this music video because in one part of the video, I’m this colour orange, and then I’m this colour orange in the next part of the music video.
“Kids, just a little tip: fake tans, night before.”
Katy explained she and costume designer Johnny Wujek “came up with this concept together” for the video – in which she and Snoop Dogg explore a Candyland-style setting – and admitted her sparkly shorts worn with her iconic cupcake bra were actually Diesel jeans that had been “cut and bedazzled”.
The ‘Teenage Dream’ hitmaker explained she has two “different ways” of dressing on the red carpet.
She said: “My red carpet outfits vary depending on what I’m going to or what it is or what the theme is but I kind of go two different ways.
“I either go OTT weird and fun and wild and wacky, or I go elegant, evolved, designer, gorge.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Martin needs a team of physios to get him ready for the stage.
The 46-year-old Coldplay frontman admitted it is harder to prepare for the group’s stadium shows now than it was a decade ago and he joked the band need to treat playing such vast venues as soccer players do ahead of their games in the same sites.
He is quoted by the Daily Star Sunday’s Wired column as saying: “As the venues become the same as sports, some of the preparations do too.
“When we were playing bars, I don’t drink, but the rest of the band were drinking.
“And when you’re playing stadiums, it’s like preparing for a big soccer game – you know you’re going to get some muscle issues…
“I’m getting older so it’s the same thing you would imagine a retired footballer would do if you said you have to play this afternoon – a lot of creaking and stretching and asking people to manipulate this and loosen that.”
And Chris admitted he isn’t the only singer feeling the strain of performing as his friend Beyonce has been suffering similar knee issues.
He said: “I saw Beyonce after the Grammys – she’s my hero and sister and everything.
“But it’s funny because I have a knee problem from being on stage and she’ll say, ‘Yeah me too.’
“You have the same work complaints that no one else can talk about.”
The ‘Fix You’ hitmaker doesn’t think he’ll ever be the type of showman as other singers but he is comfortable with what he has to offer fans.
He said: “I feel we’ve leaned into being ourselves with no fear of embarrassment.
“There’s no way I’m as adept on stage as Beyonce or Mick Jagger but I’m definitely the best at being me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — A1 star Ben Adams once got papped having lunch with Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho – but had no idea who he was.
The 41-year-old pop star is not a football fan and had no idea he was chatting with the 43-year-old sporting legend, who is one of the greatest players of all time.
He told Heat magazine: “I went out for dinner, and I knew there was a football team [in the restaurant], but I don’t really follow football. These days, Ben is not only known as a member of boy band A1 but for representing Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 along with Gaute Ormasen as a part of pop band Subwoolfer.
The ‘Caught in the Middle’ hitmaker recently revealed A1 turned down ‘Eurovision’ many times in the past.
He told The Sun: “Before it was like the kiss of death. They’ve asked A1 many times if we’d be interested in doing it and we’ve said ‘absolutely not’.
“We would maybe consider it if we were straight into the Eurovision platform. We wouldn’t do it if we had to do the preliminary rounds.
“We did do it years and years ago in Norway. We submitted a song and came second back then, and that was fine, but having already been there and been on the big show, I don’t want to compete in the rounds before. There’s no point in going backwards.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher’s new single was inspired by fans who get his lyrics wrong.
The former Oasis star has released a new track called ‘Dead to the World’ with his band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds which is taken from their upcoming album ‘Council Skies’ and the rocker has now revealed the song was written about his dedicated followers in Argentina who camp outside his hotel and sing the wrong lyrics to his mucic.
Speaking to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, Noel explained: “Well actually, funnily enough, so when I go to Argentina I stay in this one specific hotel and Argentinian fans are, hands down, the greatest in the world … I get loads of kids, they stay outside this hotel 24 hours a day and they take it in shifts and the night shift always bring their guitars.
“And I remember one night, the last night I was there, I couldn’t sleep, jet lag or something … and they were playing Oasis and High Flying Birds songs in the car park and they were all getting the words wrong, and I’m sitting there having a drink going, ‘That’s not the right words’, and that song started about me writing a song about it.”
Noel went on to reveal one of the lines in ‘Dead to the World’ links directly back to his experiences in South America, saying: “One of the lines in the song says ‘I’m going to write you a song, it won’t take me long and you can change all the words, but you’ll still get them wrong.’
“And it started off like that and then that ended up being the second verse.”
He added of the track: “I guess it’s quite a personal song. I guess when people hear it they’ll understand why, but it’s about being too tired to argue. You know there’s the saying, ‘dead to the world’. I had to explain it to the French girls in the band what it meant. It’s like when you’re in the deepest of sleeps.”
‘Council Skies’ is due for release on June 2.
