OHMYGOSSIP — Grimes has given permission for her voice to be used on songs generated by artificial intelligence.
The 35-year-old singer has weighed in on the topic of AI music and insisted she’s totally open to it because it’s “cool to be fused [with] a machine” and is happy for her voice to be used as long as any royalties are split 50/50 with her.
In a series a post on Twitter, she wrote: “I’ll split 50 per cent royalties on any successful AI generated song that uses my voice. Same deal as I would with any artist I collab with. Feel free to use my voice without penalty. I have no label and no legal bindings.”
Grimes then added: “I think it’s cool to be fused [with] a machine and I like the idea of open sourcing all art and killing copyright … We’re making a program that should simulate my voice well but we could also upload stems and samples for ppl [people] to train their own.”
Her initial post was a comment on an article about a song called ‘Heart on My Sleeve’ by TikTok user Ghostwriter977 who used AI to generate vocals which sounded just like musicians Drake and The Weeknd.
The song became a huge viral hit and reportedly racked up 230,000 plays on YouTube and more than 625,000 on Spotify.
However, it is no longer available on services including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and YouTube. The takedown came after bosses at Universal Music Group requested the streamers block any AI which might be using the services to train algorithms and fuel the creation of unauthorised tracks.
A spokesperson for Universal said: “The training of generative AI using our artists’ music as well as the availability of infringing content created with generative AI on DSPs [digital signal processors] , begs the question as to which side of history all stakeholders in the music ecosystem want to be on: the side of artists, fans and human creative expression, or on the side of deep fakes, fraud and denying artists their due compensation.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx claims ex-bandmate Mick Mars is “a little bit confused and being misled by representatives.”
The 71-year-old guitarist accused the glam metal band of trying to force him out after he had to step back from touring due to longstanding health issues that have worsened.
He filed a lawsuit at Los Angeles County’s Superior Court in early April, in which he claimed his bandmates had been “gaslighting” him and belittling his musicianship.
The Crue’s attorney Sasha Frid later told Variety that Mick filed the suit to “badmouth the band”, saying: “After the last tour, Mick publicly resigned from Motley Crue. Despite the fact that the band did not owe Mick anything – and with Mick owing the band millions in advances that he did not pay back – the band offered Mick a generous compensation package to honour his career with the band. Manipulated by his manager and lawyer, Mick refused and chose to file this ugly public lawsuit.”
Nikki, 64, and the rest of the band – Vince Neil, 62, and Tommy Lee, 60 – wish Mick all the best for the future, but believe he’s been taken for a ride with regard to the lawsuit he filed.
In an interview with Planet Rock, Nikki said: “If a member of a band tells you that they can’t tour because of health reasons, you have two choices. You can quit as a band [after] 42 years of work. Or we could look at each other and go, ‘Are we done yet?!’ We’re really peaking and we understand [Mick’s] health issues.
“We wish him the best and we know that he’s a little bit confused and being misled by representatives right now. But we still have to stay focused on why we’re here.”
Mick has been replaced by John 5, 52, despite Mick claiming he would remain a member of the ‘Home Sweet Home’ group regardless of his retirement from touring.
And Nikki admits that having another musician play with them makes the rest of the band “play differently” – but it’s inspired them to work on new music.
He said: “It’s nothing against any other musician that you play with, just that when you play with new musicians you play differently. We’re still playing the same songs that people wanna hear but it kind of like re-inspires you. And I’m sure the same thing would happen if they got a new bass player. They’re like, ‘Oh wow, he’s attacking it differently.’ So it’s never about how bad anybody was.
“It’s a nice time [for Motley Crue] and it’s kind of inspired us to write a little bit.
“We love our history, we’re very proud of everything we’ve done. We’ve always been really supportive of Mick no matter what Mick was going through. We’re just happy with where we’re at right now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lil Nas X has reportedly been in the studio with PinkPantheress.
The ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker – who has previously duetted with Billy Ray Cyrus and Jack Harlow – and the ‘Boys A Liar’ singer are both viral stars of the TikTok generation, and they could be about to collaborate together.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “PinkPantheress and Lil Nas are both working on albums at the moment and they really clicked after being introduced.
“They have a lot in common and have been in the studio together.
“It is yet to be seen what they have come up with but they’ve certainly been inspiring each other.”
Nas X, 24, shot to fame when his country trap hit ‘Old Town Road’ went viral in early 2019 before climbing the charts.
Pantheress, 22, reached number two in the UK and Australia with the viral tune ‘Boys A Liar’, while the 2023 remix featuring rapper Ice Spice became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking in the top five.
Meanwhile, Nas X previously admitted he turned down Beyonce to entertain his fans.
The ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ hitmaker – whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill- explained that he once received a party invitation from the ‘Break My Soul’ hitmaker but declined in favour of his concert.
He told E! News last year: “I’ve actually been invited to come to one of her’ Renaissance’ parties and that was super dope. think it was on the day of one of the shows and I was like, ‘Do I completely leave my fans stranded and don’t come to the show to see Beyoncé or not,’ but you know I couldn’t. Some time though for sure!”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Jonas Brothers and Lewis Capaldi are among the first acts confirmed for Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard.
The annual summer concert will return to Wembley Stadium on Sunday, June 11, with the biggest names in pop music set to take to the stage.
On ‘Capital Breakfast’ on Monday morning (24.04.23), Roman Kemp, Chris Stark and Sian Welby announced that the US pop trio, ‘Forget Me’ singer, plus Anne-Marie, Sigala, RAYE, Tom Grennan, Jess Glynne, Joel Corry, Mimi Webb, and Zara Larsson are set to perform.
Another line-up announcement will take place on the show from 7am tomorrow (25.04.23).
Roman said: “Wow what a morning! We’re so excited to be bringing our Capital listeners another amazing line-up this year, filled with all of our favourite artists we play here at Capital. OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd didn’t think he was “sexy” enough to be an R’n’B singer when he was younger.
The ‘Double Fantasy’ singer – whose music career started in 2009 when he anonymously uploaded his unique style of R’n’B to YouTube – explained how he wanted to be judged for his music and not his looks.
He told Interview magazine: “I wanted to be very calculated about how I wanted people to see me or hear my music. The initial reason I did that was I didn’t think I was marketable when I was younger, especially for R’n’B. I didn’t think I had the right look.
“The R’n’B look was very sexual back in the day. Obviously, there were a lot of singers that didn’t have the conventional R’n’B look, but for me, it was more of a personal thing. I liked getting an unbiased reaction from my music. People got to just judge me for the art, for the music I was putting out.”
The ‘Idol’ star – who co-created and stars alongside Lily-Rose Depp in the erotic HBO drama – admits he found performing live for the first time nerve-wracking because he had to reveal himself to his fans and sing in front of people for the first time at a major event.
He explained: “The real challenge was the live performances, going out there and showing yourself to people for the first time. And on top of that, I had to sing, and I had never performed live before, so I got thrown into the fire for that as well.
“I think Coachella was my first performance in the US and it might have been my fourth performance ever.”
The ‘Blinding Lights’ hitmaker – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – has just shared the new single ‘Double Fantasy’, featuring Future, from ‘The Idol’.
Abel, Sam Levinson – who is known for creating ‘Euphoria’ – and Reza Fahim have co-created the show.
Meanwhile, The Weeknd was recently crowned the most popular artist on the planet, according to Spotify data.
The Guinness World Records compiled streaming data from the globe’s biggest stars, and the ‘Blinding Lights’ hitmaker has come out on top with a whopping 111.4 million monthly listeners.
The 33-year-old superstar’s mega-hit ‘Blinding Lights’ recently became the most-streamed song of all time on the streaming platform, after surpassing Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’.

OHMYGOSSIP — K-Pop boy band SEVENTEEN have released the mini Korean-language album, ‘FML’.
The South Korean group – comprising 13 members – have shared the six-track collection, including the title track ‘F*** My Life’.
The band also shared the new music video for ‘Super’, which is packed with martial arts-style dance moves.
On the chorus, they sing: “Feels like I turned into Son O Gong / Feels like I turned into Son O Gong / We’ll never rest, every day, make it make it / Don’t break until we make it / Feels like I turned into Son O Gong.”
Son O Gong is the ancient Monkey King, a legendary mythical figure originally from the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West, which has been adapted many times.
The 13 members often split off into three teams; hip-hop, performance and vocal.
‘Fire’ is by S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon (hip-hop), ‘I Don’t Understand but I Luv U’ is Hoshi, Jun, The8 and Dino (performance) and ‘Dust’ is Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK and Seungkwan (vocal).
However, they all feature on the final track ‘April Shower’.
Last summer, they released the repackaged version of their fourth studio album, ‘Sector 17’, along with its lead single ‘_World’.
A remix featuring British chart-topper Anne-Marie was later released.
And in November, SEVENTEEN dropped their third Japanese EP ‘Dream’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Blink-182 have replaced Frank Ocean as Coachella headliners.
The ‘All the Small Things’ hitmakers have stepped in to top the bill during the second weekend of the festival in Indio, California, after the rapper pulled out due to injury, and the rockers’ hour-long set will be followed by a special performance from Skrillex, Fred again.. and Four Tet, who will take to the main stage at 10.25pm on Sunday (23.04.23).
Sharing the set times with a TBC by the then-unannounced EDM slot, Coachella wrote on Twitter: “Oh, high Weekend 2.”
Blink-182 added on Instagram: “See you Sunday @coachella.”
Meanwhile, Fred again… teased his performance on Instagram with two cryptic posts on his Story.
In one, he wrote: “okay I can’t believe I’m saying this again, but does anyone know where Sonny [Skrillex] is?(sic)”
It was followed by another of him and Four Tet in a car with the caption: “Unexpected journevsssssss [sic].”
Sources told Billboard the trio will play in the round on the satellite stage of the main stage, which was originally built as an ice rink to be used during Frank’s performance last weekend, though he ultimately didn’t use it.
The first weekend of the festival saw Blink-182 play their first live show together since 2014, drawing a huge crowd for their surprise set in the Sahara Tent.
Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this week that Frank had been forced to withdraw after fracturing his leg.
A rep for the singer told Variety: “Frank Ocean will not be performing at weekend two of Coachella, after suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend one.
“Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity.
“On doctor’s advice, [Frank] is not able to perform weekend two due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”
The singer performed at the festival on Sunday (16.04.23), but he’s acknowledged that his eagerly-awaited set was “chaotic”.
He said in a statement: “It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”
Frank was able to take to the stage over the weekend, despite the injuries to his leg.
However, his set was riddled with different problems, including Frank starting his performance an hour later than scheduled before ending the show early because of the festival’s curfew.

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift’s hits ‘Willow’ and ‘Cardigan’ were originally meant for The National.
The tracks from the 2020 sister records ‘Evermore’ and ‘Folklore’, respectively, could have sounded a little different.
Aaron Dessner, 46, and Matt Berninger, 52, of The National worked with the pop megastar on the two records and the latter told The Telegraph newspaper: “I’d taken a swing at [‘Cardigan’] and ‘Willow’ and a couple of others, and I wasn’t having a lot of luck, so Aaron sent them to Taylor.
“I always have a lot of music to work on, and I am looking for something to connect emotionally. The reverse has happened, too, where Aaron wrote something for Taylor, and I dove right in. It works both ways.”
Aaron previously shared how Taylor’s “focus and joy” in the studio rubbed off on him.
The musician produced and co-wrote much of the two albums and he came away learning a lot from the 33-year-old pop megastar.
Speaking to Britain’s The i newspaper, Aaron said of working through the pandemic: “It was almost like I was in some crazy boot camp for making a tonne of music really fast and fully producing it and then it would be released quickly.”
He added of his sessions with Grammy winner Taylor: “And you learn a lot when you’re doing that. Even just working with Taylor, she’s a brilliant musician and so experienced in terms of making records, so I was learning from her – I picked up a focus, and also just the joy that she has.”
Aaron previously said he believes the team behind the records will “continue to be in each other’s artistic and personal lives”.
The musician said: “It’s kind of the thing where I have so many musicians in my life that I’ve grown close to, and make things with, and are just part of my life. And I’ve rarely had this kind of chemistry with anyone in my life — to be able to write together, to make so many beautiful songs together in such a short period of time.
“Inevitably, I think we will continue to be in each other’s artistic and personal lives. I don’t know exactly what the next form that will take, but certainly, it will continue.”
And Taylor has returned the favour by featuring on their track ‘The Alcott’ from their upcoming album ‘First Two Pages of Frankenstein’, which is released on April 28.

The ‘Video Games’ hitmaker has joined the line-up for the London summer concert series’ 10th anniversary.

The show gives UK fans of the US star another chance to catch the pop star live after her headline set on Glastonbury’s Other Stage in June, which she recently admitted is “unfathomable”.
She told BBC Radio 1: “I’ve been excited to tell people, so I wanted to tell people because, as we started to announce some festivals, it’s unfathomable to me to headline the second stage of Glastonbury.
“They had asked me to play Glastonbury the last three years but we just weren’t ready. I didn’t want to say yes before we had a big band.”
The 37-year-old star recently released her ninth studio album, ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd’.
Other artists headlining BST this year include, Pink with Gwen Stefani (June 24 and 25), Guns N’ Roses (June 30), Take That (July 1), BLACKPINK (July 2), Billy Joel (July 7) and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (July 6 and 8).
The summertime event was launched by The Rolling Stones in 2013 when they recreated their 1969 gig.
Since then, the likes of Carole King, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Adele, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Robbie Williams, Black Sabbath, Take That, Kylie Minogue, The Who, Blur, Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes, have headlined.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Petras admits her collaboration with Nicki Minaj still doesn’t feel “real”.
The ‘Anaconda’ rapper, 40, and the ‘Malibu’ singer, 30, have shared their hotly-anticipated duet ‘Alone’, which samples Alice DeeJay’s 1999 Eurodance classic ‘Better Off Alone’, and the pop star can’t believe she’s worked with her idol.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Kim said: “It doesn’t feel real still. Her singing ‘it’s Barbie and it’s Kim Petras,’ I cried, I was on the floor … she just changed my life in so many ways with that verse and that verse rips, I love her and I’m so inspired by her always, it’s crazy to me. I don’t know how she does it, but she’s just the greatest ever.”
Kim was wowed by how Nicki “effortlessly” switched into “full superstar” mode filming the music video.
She said: “We shot the music video together and she was like, ‘Ugh, when I heard the song, I just loved it,’ and that just made so happy … When the camera’s on, it’s crazy. She just goes into full superstar. Not that she’s ever not a superstar, but she just turns it on so effortlessly and it’s amazing to watch, and she was so nice to me and the dancers and everyone and was just really inspiring to see and to watch, and she was super encouraging and we just had a blast, so it was the best thing ever.”
Meanwhile, Kim is working with Paris Hilton on new music.
The pair have recorded songs for each other’s albums and also have some special performances lined up.
Speaking on Magic Radio Breakfast recently, DJ Paris, 42 – who starred in Kim’s ‘Malibu’ music video – spilled: “We did a song on her new album and then we are recording for my new album as well.
“Then we are planning some exciting things during Pride, some performances and I’m so proud of her. Seeing her at the Grammys was just amazing, I’ve been friends with her ever since her first single came out, being in her first music video and just to see how much she has grown. She is a pop icon.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anitta has signed with Universal’s Republic Records, two weeks after she parted ways with Warner Music.
The ‘Envolver’ singer left the major label after 11 years after complaining that they were not doing their job properly.
In a joint statement, the label and artist said: “After eleven years of successful partnership, we’ve agreed to go our separate ways.
“Anitta would like to thank the Warner Music team for all their support. And the Warner team wishes Anitta all the best in future.”
And now, sources have told Variety that the star has been swiftly snapped up by the rival label.
The 30-year-old Brazilian star recently fumed on Instagram: “I asked the label to just do the simple job they were supposed to: promote my music.”
Anitta admitted she would have sold her organs to get out of the contract.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, she divulged in Portuguese and English: “My love, if I had a fine to pay, I would have already auctioned off my organs, no matter how expensive it was to get out. But unfortunately, it doesn’t [work that way].
“When you’re young and still don’t know much, you have to pay close attention to the things you sign… if not you can spend a lifetime paying for the mistake.”
Anitta also hit out at Warner for using her photo and song to mark International Women’s Day in March.
She fumed: “Communication at Warner is so good that [they’re] posting me on a Happy women’s day looping post, even tho I had to go public to ask for the ‘woman respect’ that this date represents. (sic)”
And she claimed they told her ‘Envolver’ wouldn’t be a hit without getting a major artist featured on it.
She added how the label’s post used the song “they said would never break without a feat cuz I wasn’t strong enough for that. (sic)”
Variety reported that the label hoped ‘Envolver’ – which went viral on TikTok last year – would have the same success in the US as it had in Latin American.
However, Warner hasn’t commented on this.

OHMYGOSSIP — Mac DeMarco has released a new album comprised of a whopping 190 songs.
In a rare move in the age of streaming, the 32-year-old singer-songwriter has dropped an LP that requires a total listening time of almost nine hours.
The plethora of songs on ‘One Wayne G’ – the name of which is a nod to hockey player Wayne Gretzky – were recorded between 2018 and 2023.
Some of the tunes have names but the majority are just titled as the dates they were recorded.
The influx of songs from the Canadian artist comes just three months after Mac released the instrumental LP ‘Five Easy Hot Dogs’.
The record’s song titles were named after the city the songs were recorded and mixed in.
Mac recently announced a tour in support of the record.
He’ll be performing the instrumentals in full alongside new arrangements of other tracks from his repertoire.
The jaunt kicks off at Los Angeles’ Ford Theatre on July 14.
Mac will play three consecutive nights at London’s Hackney Empire as part of the run, kicking off on July 30.
He said in a statement: “Hello, Mac D here. In July we are bringing ‘Five Easy Hot Dogs’ to the stage. Should be nice, should be different, hopefully, it will be special. Hope to see you there.”
Meanwhile, the lo-fi star recently admitted he finds it “depressing” how much TikTok is influencing music.
He told Variety: “It’s very depressing. I think that that’s the problem is artists have slipped into this role of like, ‘Well, I do need those things.’ You don’t … but if you want to make money I guess you do.
“I was always of the ilk of make what you want to make, and if money comes afterward, it’s a bonus.
“A lot of my songs actually do quite well on TikTok, but I never had to think about, ‘Well this should sound pretty good sped up!’ At the same time … what do people say? Get that bag, or whatever? Live your life however you want to live your life, I don’t give a f***.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran has shared his new song, ‘Boat’, about feeling engulfed by depression.
The 32-year-old pop megastar has shared the second track from his upcoming album, ‘Subtract’, and a moving music video by Mia Barnes, which sees the ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker battling to stop himself from being taken down by extreme waves.
He sings: “But the waves won’t break my bones.”
The latest track follows the equally as raw lead single, ‘Eyes Closed’.
Ed recently revealed the upcoming album is inspired by his “unbreakable bond” with his wife, who is recovering after a cancer scare.
The Grammy winner wrote the heartbreaking songs after his wife was diagnosed with a tumour while she was pregnant with their second child, Jupiter, and the death of his close pals Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne within weeks of each other last year.
He recently revealed that the track ‘No Strings’ was inspired by the ordeal as well as advice his father had given him on marriage.
As he introduced the song to the audience at the Eventim Apollo in London, last month, he said: “My dad said to me when I got married, ‘You will not know what real love and marriage is until there’s death and real sickness.’ He said that because that happened when he first married my mum. There was real, real grief that happened in the family and real, real sickness that ended up in grief that they had to go through.
“He said that it really brought them together and once that happens it’s an unbreakable bond.”
The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker – who also has two-year-old daughter Lyra with his wife – went on to admit that whilst he’s always felt a “real closeness” with his significant other, it was her tumour that created an “unbreakable bond” between the pair.
Ed explained: “I’ve been married now almost five years and I’ve always felt real, real closeness. But last year was when that unbreakable bond was made. I know you should feel that before with a marriage and children, but I really feel like ‘if we can get through 2022, we can get through anything.'”
Ed also debuted the track ‘Spark’ at the intimate event and explained how that song explores the notion of “moving on” from trauma.
He said: “You know in movies when people have break-ups and they put everything into the fire and go, ‘It’s a new dawn’? I feel like that’s a healthy thing sometimes, to move on and be like, ‘That was then and this is now’. The lyrics in this chorus are ‘We’ll build a fire, we’ll torch our old life and hope that the original spark of what made it amazing survives and we’ll just move on from it.'”
‘Subtract’ is due for release on May 5.

OHMYGOSSIP — SUGA has released his debut solo album, ‘D-DAY’, under his solo stage name Agust D.
The 30-year-old BTS star – whose real name is Min Yoon-gi – has shared his first full-length project.
‘D-Day’ is the third instalment of SUGA’s mixtape trilogy, following 2016’s ‘Agust D’ and 2020’s ‘D-2’.
His bandmate J-Hope, 29, features on the track ‘HUH?!’.
Prior to its release, SUGA had confessed he was “worried” about his return as Agust D.
He told Billboard: “‘People Pt.2’ was made thinking about how people will receive Agust D’s music, which is why we also featured [his former collaborator] IU. It’s kind of a trial to release this music under the name Agust D.”
A Disney+ documentary entitled ‘SUGA: Road to D-Day’, which chronicles the artist’s solo album journey, has also been released.

The South Korean rapper is also embarking on the ‘SUGA Agust D Tour’, which takes in North America, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan.
And the newly-named NBA ambassador will become the first member of the ‘My Universe’ group – also comprising Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, V, and RM – to do a world tour.
SUGA is a key co-writer and co-producer for the K-Pop boy band – who are on a hiatus while they work on solo projects.

OHMYGOSSIP — Roger Waters is set to release ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ on CD and vinyl in June.
The 79-year-old musician – who is is currently on tour in Europe, with 40 shows across 14 European countries – recorded the songs at his home in England during the COVID-19 lockdown and he’s now planning to release the records on June 2.
‘The Lockdown Sessions’ features ‘Comfortably Numb’ as the final track on the record, and the Pink Floyd co-founder has explained the evolution of his work amid lockdown.
Roger – who released his debut solo album, ‘The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking’, in 1984 – said: “Our Us and Them Tour lasted three years … At every gig we did an encore after the main show closed with ‘Comfortably Numb’ … the encore was always ‘Mother’ … I can’t remember why I decided to start doing other songs?
“Anyway, at some point after the end of the tour … I started thinking, ‘It could make an interesting album, all those encores’ … ‘The Encores’. ‘Yeah, has a nice ring to it!’ Then … I’m in England doing the Ginger Baker tribute gig one Tuesday night at the Hammersmith Odeon with Eric Clapton and … the following Saturday marching from The Australian Embassy to Parliament Square to make a speech in support of Julian Assange, when b***** me, COVID …Schlummmm! For me it was Friday March 13th, 2020. Lockdown!

OHMYGOSSIP — The Clash’s Paul Simonon wouldn’t have reunited with his bandmates for a million pounds.
The 67-year-old bassist of the legendary punk rock group says the rumours were true that he and late guitarist and co-vocalist Joe Strummer and singer Mick Jones were in talks to reunite in the 90s after parting ways in 1986.
However, he insists there were “lots of reasons” why they didn’t get back together, including his feud with Mick.
He told MOJO magazine: “There was talk between me, Joe, Mick and Mick’s manager, Gary Kurfirst, who was looking after Mick in B.A.D. But it didn’t happen for lots of reasons. I was getting p***ed off with Mick. I said, ‘I don’t want to do it.’ Mick said, ‘Why not? You’ll get a million pounds.’ That p***ed me off even more. So I said, “I don want a f***ing million pounds.’ I think he was a bit shocked that I wasn’t keen on the idea.
Paul added: “And I don’t think Joe would have really wanted to do it either. For me The Clash story was over.”
A month after the death of Joe in December 2002, the band – including original drummer Terry Chimes – was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in January 2003.
The ‘London Calling’ rockers were also invited to perform at the ceremony, but again, Paul wasn’t interested.
He recalled: “They wanted us to play on the stage at the ceremony. I said, ‘I’m not doing that.’ So Joe said, ‘OK, maybe we’ll get Mani to do it.’ I said, ‘OK, go on then…’
“I had no interest in those kind of awards things. I don’t want a pat on the back.”
Paul went on to play in the supergroup the Good, the Bad and the Queen and performed on the Gorillaz album ‘Plastic Beach in 2010’, which saw him reunite with former bandmate Mick and Blur frontman Damon Albarn.
