OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Kiyoko was threatened with legal action by an “undercover” police officer for inviting drag queens to perform on stage at her concert in Nashville, Tennessee – but vowed not to be “silenced”.
The 32-year-old pop star – who is openly queer – risked getting into trouble with local law enforcement for allowing the drag stars to be part of her concert earlier this week.
She shared on Instagram: “The past 48 hours have been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. Our day off in Nashville we went to a drag show at @playnashville and I had the honor of being brought on stage. We then planned to have some fabulous queens join us during my show the next day.
“At soundcheck the day of, I was advised by local law enforcement that having a drag performance at my all ages show could result in legal action. They warned us to not bring any drag performers on stage. I was shattered as you can see in the videos I recorded reacting to the situation in real time before the show started.
“I never want to put anyone in a position to be at risk or in danger in any way. But also where is the line of being silenced? How do we navigate these absurd threats and laws against our community? I find pride in making sure my concerts are safe places for ALL. How can I do that if we aren’t allowed to be ourselves, especially at a predominantly queer concert? We deserve to have a safe space to be ourselves while we navigate the evil that is threatening our own existence.”
The drag queens showed “no fear” as they agreed to perform despite the state’s recently passed anti-drag bill.
It prohibits adult cabaret from performing on public property and other places where minors could be present, and it includes “male or female impersonators” under the banner of “adult cabaret.”
Violators would face a fine of up to $1,000, and up to two years in prison.
Hayley added: “When the queens arrived it was about 10 minutes before the show. I was distraught and let them know what was communicated to us and our concerns. They showed no fear and said they wanted to continue with the show and come out on stage. So they did.
“Thank you @theladylibertea and @jivy85 for joining us last night. You looked radiant and truly inspire me.”
She vowed: “We will not be silenced. We will find ways to continue to be our authentic selves, no matter what. We will not give up.
No matter how hard they make it. I love you all so much.”
Just two weeks ago, megastar Lizzo brought out drag performers at her Tennessee concert in protest of the anti-LGBTQIA+ bill.
The Grammy winner was advised by fans on social media to cancel any concerts she has planned in the state, but she instead chose to show her solidarity with the drag community in a bold way when she brought ‘The Special Tour’ to Knoxville on April 21.
She told the audience: “In light of recent and tragic events and current events, I was told by people on the internet, ‘cancel your shows in Tennessee,’ ‘don’t go to Tennessee’.
“Their reason was valid, but why would I not come to the people who need to hear this message the most?
“Why would I not create a safe space in Tennessee where we can celebrate drag entertainers and celebrate our differences?”
The ‘Truth Hurts’ hitmaker was joined by 19 drag queens, including ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ alums Aquaria, Asia O’Hara, Kandy Muse and Vanessa Vanji Matteo, as well as local queens.

OHMYGOSSIP — Gerry Cinnamon has announced a new double live LP and has confirmed work has begun on his third studio album.
The Glaswegian singer-songwriter will release ‘The Live Album: Live At Hampden Park’ on July 14, which was filmed when Gerry played two sold-out shows at Scotland’s football ground in his home city in 2022.
Over the two days, he played to a whopping 100,000 fans.
The double album features songs from his two albums, including ‘Dark Days’, ‘Sun Queen’, ‘Ghost’, ‘Where We’re Going’, ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Belter’.
Plus new material, including the previously unreleased track ‘Sacred’, a tribute to fellow Scot, comedian Billy Connolly, with his version of ‘I Wish I Was in Glasgow’, and fan-favourite ‘Discoland’.
The 38-year-old star – who has built up a strong loyal following over the past five years and is one of the biggest independent artists to come out of the UK – commented: “Live album out July. Bout time I put out a live album. The tunes aren’t complete until they’re sung live. Crowd are part of the band. Been meaning to do it for years but been caught up in a wee whirlwind. Had to be done for Hampden tho. Album three cooking in the pot as well. (sic)”
Gerry released his debut album, ‘Erratic Cinematic’, to acclaim in 2017. The follow-up, ‘The Bonny’, was released in 2020.

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink has announced more support acts for her two dates at American Express presents BST Hyde Park.
The UK’s 2022 Eurovision runner-up, Sam Ryder, Sam Thompkins, plus GAYLE, Maddie Zahm, Mae Stephens and Will Linley will join the ‘Never Gonna Not Dance Again’ hitmaker and pop legend Gwen Stefani at the London landmark on Saturday, June 24.
On night two, on Sunday, June 25, US mega-star Tinashe, Lyra, Valencia Grace, Nell Mescal, Beren Olivia, and Maddie Zahm, will play.
More names are still to be announced across the weekend.
The new additions come after Lana Del Rey was revealed as the final headliner of the annual summer concert series on July 9.
The show gives UK fans of the US star another chance to catch the pop star live after her headline set on Glastonbury’s Other Stage in June.
Other artists headlining BST this year include Guns N’ Roses (June 30), Take That (July 1), BLACKPINK (July 2), Billy Joel (July 7) and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (July 6 and 8).
The summertime event was launched by The Rolling Stones in 2013 when they recreated their 1969 gig.
Since then, the likes of Carole King, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Adele, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Robbie Williams, Black Sabbath, Take That, Kylie Minogue, The Who, Blur, Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes, have headlined.

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock will perform in honour of King Charles and Queen Camilla at the legendary 100 Club in London on the night of their Coronation (06.05.23).
The Royal Rock Out – organised by City Hall – will see Matlock perform the Sex Pistols ‘God Save The Queen’ at the famous venue – which the then-Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited in 2020.
When asked if he would be changing the words to ‘God Save The King’, Matlock joked that “bling and ming” were the only rhyming words he could think of and “he didn’t fancy doing that to old Charlie, cause he’s alright.”
The anti-establishment purveyors’ hit was released amid Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.
The punk rock classic was infamously banned by the BBC and narrowly missed out on the number one spot in the Official UK Chart.
For the first time in chart history, due to its notoriety, chart bosses refused to list its title, while many record shops refused to stock the record.
What’s more their label A+M destroyed 25,000 copies of the record, with a handful left.
‘God Save The Queen’ was re-released to mark the late queen’s Platinum Jubilee last summer.
As well as the original 1997 anti-royal anthem, the 66-year-old musician will be performing tracks from his new album, ‘Consequences Coming’.
Matlock has a number of solo dates to follow the Coronation special, plus he’s playing bass for Blondie throughout the summer.

OHMYGOSSIP — 30 Seconds to Mars will return with their first new music in five years on Monday (08.05.23).
Days after frontman Jared Leto, 51, hit the headlines when he dressed as late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat at the 2023 Met Gala, he and his brother Shannon Leto have confirmed the new track ‘Stuck’ is on the way at the start of next week.
The rock duo shared a clip of the track on social media and it includes the lyric: “The way you move has got me stuck.”
The band haven’t released an album since 2018’s ‘America’, and their next project will be their first since the departure of guitarist Tomo Milicevic.
Jared has been busy with his acting career – with his most recent credits including ‘House of Gucci’, ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ and ‘The Little Things’ and upcoming roles in the new ‘Haunted Mansion’, ‘Tron 3’ and ‘Adrift’ – however when the world shut down due to COVID-19, he and his older sibling, 53, were both in one place for a prolonged period for the first time in years, and he was inspired to write “about 200 songs”.
The ‘WeCrashed’ star told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 last year: “As challenging as that time was for so many people around the world and devastating for so many, there was also a flip side to it.
“And for both my brother and I, I think it was like the universe doing for us what we can’t do for ourselves sort of thing, where really, it was the first time we were in one place for that long since we were little kids.
“And even as little kids, we moved around as, you know. We had the kind of vagabond hippie life. And it was a blessing.
“And I sat and I started writing. It took me a month or two to get into the swing of things. But I wrote about 200 songs.
“And we have maybe two albums, maybe three, worth of material. And we’re going to start putting it out momentarily. I mean, really momentarily. So really excited.”
Before the release of ‘America’ – which featured the likes of Halsey and A$AP Rocky – the ‘Walk on Water’ hitmaker admitted it would likely be a long time before they put out another record.
He said at the time: “We’re really slow at putting albums out.
“I don’t mean we’re never putting music out again but this may be the last album at least for a while, until I feel I need a collection of songs to say something.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Unreleased Prince music from his famous vault is set to be released over the late music legend’s annual Celebration event.
Each year, the ‘Raspberry Beret’ hitmaker’s estate throws open the doors to his Paisley Park museum, home and studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, to honour the memory of the cultural icon.
This year, it will take place between June 8 and June 11, with special appearances from famous musicians, including Chaka Khan, Mint Condition’s Stokley, and hip-hop icons Chuck D, D-Nice and Doug E. Fresh.
A description of the event on the Paisley Park website reads: “We believe that Prince was the heart of what would become one of the most creative and talented communities in the world. This year, we want to highlight how you, the fam, are continuing the legacy in numerous ways.
“There will be opportunities to share how your contribution to Prince’s legacy has impacted others, time for creative expression, and a featured panel highlighting some incredible community members making a global impact.”
It’s not yet been revealed how many songs will be shared from the vault, which is said to contain hours and hours of never-before-heard material.
Fans were already treated to 63 unreleased gems on the ‘Sign ‘O’ The Times’ reissue in 2020.
The news comes after it was revealed that Prince will be honoured with his own road in Minneapolis.
The state’s politicians voted in favour of the road being renamed the Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway after the ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker – who tragically died in 2016 after an accidental fentanyl overdose aged 57.
The road passes by Paisley Park and runs for seven miles on the Minnesota State Highway 5, through the areas of Chanhassen and Eden Prairie.
Republican senator Julia Coleman and those who were close to Prince will pay for the name change.
She said: “Prince was a true genius, a visionary artist who pushed the boundaries of music and cultures in ways that will never be forgotten.
“His influence can be heard in the work of countless musicians who came after him, and his legacy continues to inspire new generations of artists to this day.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne wants to keep playing shows even if someone has to “wheel him out there”.
The Black Sabbath legend – who has retired from touring the world – has reiterated his desire to still play the occasional gig after a spending the last five decades on stage.
Speaking to Tenacious D duo Jack Black and Kyle Gass for Metal Hammer magazine, he said: “I mean, doing a live show is what I live for.
“I’ve had to cancel my [2023] European tour but I’m determined. I’ve gotta do more gigs if I have to get someone to wheel me out there.
“I mean, you can’t retire from this game. It’s not a job, it’s a f****** passion. I don’t know how to do anything else.
“The thought of sitting in my house all day… I’m a road dog, you know? I’ve been doing it f****** 55 years. It’s the best thing to have ever happened to me.”
The ‘Paranoid’ hitmaker admitted he has “some good gigs” and his “fair share of f****** bad gigs” over the years.
He added: “A guitar player can change his guitar. A drummer can change the drum. If my voice goes, I’m f*****.
“One time I was at a gig at Nassau Coliseum in New York. On the way to the gig, my voice went out. The kids were already there and I thought, ‘What the f*** am I gonna do now?’
“I went out and tried to sing and they gave me a standing ovation. The kids would rather see you being bad than go home.”
The 74-year-old star was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2020, while other health woes have seen him forced to use a walking stick.
Ozzy recently insisted he has been working his “guts out” to get back on his feet after he was forced to axe all of his shows for 2023, but admitted he can’t guarantee when he will be back on the road.
He said on an episode of SiriusXM’s ‘Ozzy Speaks’: “Well, I’ve been working my guts out to try and get back on my feet.
“I’ve come to the point where Sharon (Osbourne – who is still his manager) says to me, ‘You know what? The truth of the matter is you can’t keep booking tours and failing, cancelling.’
“So, if I can ever get back to where I can tour again, fine. But right now, if you said to me, ‘Can you go on the road in a month?’ I couldn’t say yes.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sting, RAYE and Matilda Mann are set to perform at Amazon Music presents The Ivors.
The former music legend is set to be bestowed with the Fellowship of The Ivors Academy, and the prestigious ceremony will also feature a live performance by the former Police frontman.
The livestream will be presented by ‘+44 Podcast’ hosts Zeze Millz and Sideman, and radio DJ Zach Sang.
It will feature all the latest from the red carpet, performances from ‘Escapism’ hitmaker RAYE and indie folk star Matilda Mann, plus backstage interviews with the winners.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue is reportedly set to make her solo music comeback ahead of her 55th birthday on May 28.
The Australian pop idol – whose last studio album was 2020’s ‘Disco’ – is said to be planning to drop a new song days before her birthday, with a new album and her first arena tour in six years also said to be part of her big return.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Kylie has finally finished the album and is now raring to go with her return to music.
“It is being kept under lock and key and hardly anyone at her record label has even heard it.
“It’s classic Kylie and is sure to go down well with fans.”
Last month, Kylie featured on DJ Oliver Heldens’ dance tune ’10 Out of 10′.
The new collaboration came after the ‘Spinning Around’ hitmaker – who is known for having explored a variety of music genres throughout her career including, pop, Indie, country, and disco – teased that her upcoming 16th LP will be a mixture of electro and 90s house music.
She told The Irish News: “I can’t give too much away, but there’s some 2000s electro, 90s house and what I like to call emoto-pop. I can’t wait to share this with fans and enter the next era of music and live performance.”
It was previously reported that the singer had been working with songwriter Biff Stannard, whom she collaborated with on the likes of ‘Love At First Sight’ and ‘In Your Eyes’.
It’s said she was also joined by Duck Blackwell, who has teamed up with Olly Murs and The Wanted in the past.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘It’s In His Kiss’ hitmaker Linda Lewis has died aged 72.
The adored singer-songwriter, who had an impressive five-octave vocal range and was a backing singer for David Bowie and Rod Stewart, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (03.05.23).
Linda’s sister, Dee Lewis Clay, confirmed the sad news of her death in a Facebook post that read: “It is with the greatest sadness and regret we share the news that our beloved beautiful sister Linda Lewis passed away today peacefully at her home.
“The family asks that you respect our privacy and allow us to grieve at this heartbreaking time.”
No cause of death was given.
After attending stage school, the Londoner played a screaming fan in the iconic 1964 musical Beatles film, ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, among other film roles.
Then came chart success in the UK in the 70s, with Top 10 hit ‘It’s In His Kiss’, a disco version of ‘The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s in His Kiss)’, as well as ‘Rock-A-Doodle-Doo’, ‘Baby I’m Yours’ and ‘I’d Be Surprisingly Good For You’.
Her vocal prowess led her to work with a range of artists including Joan Armatrading, Basement Jaxx, Turin Brakes, and Jamiroquai.
A self-taught guitarist and keyboard player, Linda released 10 studio albums, her last being 1999’s ‘Kiss of Life’.
Linda lived in a commune in Hampstead, north London, which would be frequented by the likes of Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam), Marc Bolan and Sir Elton John.
Linda dated fellow star Cat/Yusuf, however, they disagreed over his conversion to Islam.
She once wrote: “To put it kindly, he was searching for greater meaning in life. To put it bluntly, he was becoming a pain.”
Tributes have flooded in, with Armatrading tweeted: “I’m so sad to hear of the death of Linda Lewis. She had a beautiful voice and was a really lovely person. RIP Linda x.”
Midge Ure wrote: “Really sad to hear this.
“I had a massive crush on Linda Lewis. ‘Not a little girl anymore’ was a great song and beautifully sung by her.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey, Lewis Capaldi and more have received the first-ever BRIT Billion awards.
The BPI has introduced a new award celebrating an artist reaching a whopping billion streams in the UK.
The data comes from the Official Charts Company and will “include tracks an artist has appeared on either as the principal performer or as a featured artist.”
ABBA, AJ Tracey and Headie One are also among the honourees, alongside Rita Ora, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, Anne-Marie and George Ezra.
The Swedish pop legends, for instance, have sold 400 million albums worldwide, had 17 No. 1 hits and over 50 million weekly global streams.
Their most-streamed hits are: ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)’ and ‘Mamma Mia’.
As for Lewis, his mega-hit ‘Someone You Loved’ was 2019’s biggest single of the year and the most-streamed song in the UK of all time with over 600 million streams.
He said: “Am so buzzing to be one of the first artists ever to be given a “BRIT Billion” award! Never in a million years did I think any of this stuff would happen but now it is I will gladly accept each and every award, you have my address x.”
Pop Diva Mariah’s 1994 festive classic ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ is one of the UK’s most-streamed songs, having amassed more than 370 million streams.
Mariah Carey said: “I’m really honoured to be one of the recipients of the BRIT Billion Award. I’m so grateful to my fans for their endless and enduring support. I love you UK lambily and cannot wait to come back to your side of the pond and create more magical moments together.”

The late Whitney Houston – whose biggest hits include the 3x Platinum ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’, plus ‘Saving All My Love For You’, ‘It’s Not Right (But It’s OK)’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’ and ‘My Love Is Your Love’ – has also earned a Billion award.
Representative of the Whitney Houston estate, Pat Houston, said: “Whitney would be very proud of this award, and the first thing she would say is, ‘is this for me’? Thanks so much to all of her worldwide fans, and on behalf of the Whitney Houston estate, I want to say thank you, and that we are extremely grateful, and that we appreciate you.”
Each artist will own a specially-designed trophy by BPI by Gaudio Awards1, boasting the BRITs ‘B’ and an encapsulated BRITs statuette, with their name.
Sophie Jones, BPI Chief Strategy Officer and Interim Chief Executive, said: “For a recording artist, there can be few greater sources of pride than having a Platinum or Gold disc on their wall, but in an era when success is measured in the hundreds of millions and indeed billions of streams, it was clear that we needed a new and additional way to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievement in recorded music, and I feel certain that having a BRIT Billion Award will become equally prized.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Petty has been posthumously honoured with a Doctor of Music degree from the University of Florida.
The late music legend’s brother, Bruce Petty, will collect the degree on behalf of his late sibling – who died in 2017 aged 66 – at a ceremony at the college in Gainsville, Florida, their home city, on Thursday (04.05.23).
He said: “I don’t think anyone in our family, including him, thought that he would be linked with the University of Florida this way.
“It’s such a powerful thing, it was his life-long dream, and I know he would just be over-the-top, crazy happy about it.”
Kevin Orr, the university’s School of Music director, said the institution is “privileged to honour Tom Petty with an honorary doctorate degree in Music, celebrating not only his extraordinary achievements as an artist, but the ways in which his music has and continues to unite us as a community.”
On top of that, the rock star’s estate has launched The Tom Petty Endowment for Guitars and Innovation for students on the Guitar and Music Business and Entrepreneurship course at the university and helped to kick-start the fund with a donation of $100,000.
The ‘I Won’t Back Down’ hitmaker died from an accidental overdose six years ago on October 2.
Just recently, former Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ member Mike Campbell admitted he was still grieving for Petty.
The 73-year-old guitarist – who co-wrote many of the band’s hits with Petty, including ‘Refugee’, ‘Here Comes My Girl’, ‘You Got Lucky’, and ‘Runnin’ Down a Dream’- is “still processing” the passing of the legend and it was “bittersweet” for him to hear the songs on the band’s ‘Live at the Fillmore 1997′ compilation when he was preparing it for release last year.
Asked if it’s “bittersweet”, he told Guitar Player magazine: “Of course it is, ’cause Tom’s gone and that’s kind of a hard thing for me to deal with, to sit there and listen to stuff and hear his voice. It touches on some grief that I’m still processing. But I’m a big boy.
I can deal with it. There’s a lot of material and it’s important, I think, because some of the young people have maybe never heard the old catalogue, so when they’re re-issued there’s a chance for that stuff to be re-experienced.”
Campbell also revealed there are a handful of tracks that have never been released in the archive – but not enough for an album.
He said: “No. There’s a few extra tracks here and there. A lot of them have already come out. But, no, there’s no mystical album that’s sitting on the floor. There’s the live stuff, like I mentioned before. Those are the main things that have never been heard.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Original A Skylit Drive frontman Jordan Blake has died aged 36.
The American post-hardcore band confirmed the screamo vocalist passed away on Tuesday (02.05.23).
In a social media statement, they said: “We are overwhelmed with grief to inform you of the loss of Jordan early this morning. Jordan was a trail blazer in the emo/post hardcore music scene with undeniable passion who loved his fans like family. They concluded: “We want to respect Jordan’s family’s wishes for privacy and space to grieve so we will not be commenting anything else until further notice. Thank you all for reaching out and for your kind words. His legacy will live on through all of you.”
A cause of death is not known at this time.
Just a few weeks before his death, on April 25, Jordan revealed he was “no longer homeless” after falling on hard times.
He tweeted: “Over the past two weeks Lots of unexpected things have happened in my life and for as long as I can remember its all pretty positive occurrences . I’m no longer homeless but more importantly i’ve been able to majorly upgrade my studio due to a surge of studio work . #blessed (sic)”
And earlier this, Jordan – who had battled with his mental health – tweeted that he had let himself go from the ICU “against doctors orders” after two months in hospital.
He claimed doctors had found bacteria in his blood again as they did back in 2007.
Jordan was frontman from 2005 until 2007, however, he reunited with his bandmates last year to mark the 15th anniversary of their debut EP ‘She Watched The Sky’.
Jordan was replaced by Michael Jagmin from 2008 until 2017.
Previous lead vocalists also include Jonny Craig and Craig Mabbitt.

OHMYGOSSIP — Best Coast are going on an indefinite hiatus as lead singer, Bethany Cosentino, launches her solo career.
The American indie rock duo – also comprising guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno – are pressing pause as the former child actress goes it alone.
She said in a statement: “My identity as a human being, and as an artist, has been so wrapped up in Best Coast for over a decade.
“The decision to pause the project indefinitely, and explore a new side of myself, was a very difficult one to make – but it felt necessary for me.”
Bethany continued: “Life is too short to not give yourself what you feel you need and want.
“I am excited about being just Bethany Cosentino for a while and figuring out who I am outside of the ‘Bethany from Best Coast’ box I’ve lived in for such a long time.”
Fans can get a taste of solo Bethany with her debut single, ‘It’s Fine’, out now. The 36-year-old singer-songwriter’s debut studio album, ‘Natural Disaster’, will follow on July 28.
The pair, who formed Best Coast in 2009, released four albums together: 2010’s ‘Crazy For You’, 2012’s ‘The Only Place’, 2015’s ‘California Nights’, and 2020’s ‘Always Tomorrow’.
Before Best Coast, teenage Bethany was a member of the experimentalist drone group Pocahaunted. After attending college in New York, she moved back to the West Coast and started demoing lo-fi tunes with Bobb, 49, after meeting in the bustling live music scene of Los Angeles.

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves’ band Dogstar are to release their first new music for 23 years.
The grunge outfit haven’t dropped an album since 2000’s ‘Happy Ending’, but after reuniting last summer, the group have confirmed they will be releasing new tunes later this summer.
Dogstar – in which Hollywood actor Keanu plays bass guitar – wrote on Instagram: “Thank you everyone for the kind comments. We are overjoyed to see such a response.
“Honestly, didn’t expect this. It makes us want to play out even more.
“We will be rolling out some new music this summer, followed by some gigs. As soon as it’s all figured out we will let everyone know immediately.
“So much to do, but rest assured, we are on it and have assembled a fantastic team that are helping us.
“We are also going to make a music video to support our first tune. That’s all I can say now. Can’t wait to share our new music with everyone.
“It’s the most satisfying and meaningful batch of songs we’ve ever done. Thanks again for being so patient with us. We truly have the best, most loyal fans!”
A new album release this summer will mark 27 years since Dogstar – who are also made up of Robert Mailhouse, Bret Domrose, and Gregg Miller – dropped their debut record, ‘Our Little Visionary’, in 1996.
Dogstar had several bands open for them who went on to achieve huge success.
‘Buddy Holly’ hitmakers Weezer’s first-ever show was opening up for Dogstar, and US punk outfit Rancid have also opened up for the group in the past.

OHMYGOSSIP — Folk-pop legend Gordon Lightfoot has died aged 84.
The seminal Canadian artist – who is best known for the hits ‘If You Could Read My Mind’ and ‘The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald’ – passed away at a Toronto hospital on Monday evening (01.05.23), his publicist Victoria Lord confirmed.
His death comes after his declining health caused him to axe his tour three weeks earlier.
No cause of death was given.
However, the guitarist suffered from Bell’s palsy and was once placed in a coma in 2002 after an artery in his stomach ruptured.
Adored by music legends, including Bob Dylan, Lightfoot’s songs were covered by the likes of Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Cash, and even punk rockers Jane’s Addiction.
Fellow Canadian Bryan Adams has led tributes to the man who pioneered the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s.
He wrote Instagram alongside a picture with his idol: “This one is really hard to write. Once in a blue moon you get to work and hang out with one of the people you admired when you were growing up. I was lucky enough to say Gordon was my friend and I’m gutted to know he’s gone. The world is a lesser place without him. I know I speak for all Canadians when I say: thank you for the songs Gordon Lightfoot. Bless your sweet songwriting heart, RIP dear friend.”
Dylan once said: “I can’t think of any Gordon Lightfoot song I don’t like. Every time I hear a song of his, it’s like I wish it would last forever … Lightfoot became a mentor for a long time. I think he probably still is to this day.”
He started his career singing in the church choir and had set his sights on jazz.
After moving to Hollywood to study music, Lightfoot decided it wasn’t for him, and upon returning to his home city, he played a few local gigs before landing his first hit in Canada with ‘I’m Not Sayin”.
During his career, he has earned five Grammys and 17 Junos, the Canadian equivalent of the former.
He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.
In 1986, he hit the headlines when he sued Whitney Houston’s producer and songwriter for lifting 24 bars from ‘If You Could Read My Mind’ for her 1985 cover of George Benson’s ‘The Greatest Love of All’.
However, he withdrew the lawsuit because he didn’t want it to impact on her health.
He later told Alabama.com: “I let it go because I understood that it was affecting Whitney Houston, who had an appearance coming up at the Grammy Awards, and the suit wasn’t anything to do with her.”
Lightfoot was married three times, however, his infidelity, which he blamed on touring and having to be long-distance, meant relationships were difficult.
He also battled severe alcoholism.
The musician was married to his third wife, Kim Hasse, since December 19, 2014.
Lightfoot had six children.
