Lil Durk claims he was offered cash to ‘beef’ with rap rivals

OHMYGOSSIP — Lil Durk has claimed he was offered cash to “beef” with other rappers.
The 30-year-old rapper – who is the lead member and founder of the collective and label Only the Family (OTF) – has alleged that record labels have offered him payment to “fake” a feud with his rivals.
He tweeted at the weekend: “Labels try to pay me to beef. I just can’t fake it. I’m different. I’m him. Unpredictable.”
Durk has had several public spats with the likes of NBA YoungBoy, Tekashi 69 and Soulja Boy.
The latter previously laid into Durk for allegedly not giving him credit for helping to launch his career.
He fumed on Instagram Live: “All a ***** got to do is look up Soulja Boy, Lil Durk, ‘Eater.’ This man’s first mixtape. Nobody knew who this man was.”
Durk recently tweeted a snap of him gripping stacks upon stacks of dollars on a private jet and captioned the Instagram post: “The munyun [money] a get you Dunyun. everything everybody say I can’t do I do #THEVOICE #almosthealed (sic)”
He later revealed his new album, ‘Almost Healed’, will be out on May 26, writing:” Almost healed the album may26th ahhhhh haaaaaaaaaa (sic)”
Meanwhile, Cardi B released a Kanye West and Lil Durk collaboration last summer – but admitted she wasn’t happy with how it was “executed”.
The ‘WAP’ hitmaker claimed her single, ‘Hot S***’, very nearly didn’t get released.
The 30-year-old star had refused to make a music video to accompany the song.
During a teary Instagram Live with fans, she said: “I’m just so overwhelmed and so upset. A lot of people have been dropping the ball for the last two months, there has been a lot of miscommunication.
“So I wanted to cancel my release for this week because s*** is not being executed how it’s supposed to. But then I’m like, it’s too drastic. So I will be dropping the song but I will not be releasing a music video with this song.
“I’m just exhausted with everybody. I’m so tired of people not doing their f****** job correctly.”
However, the promo dropped on the ‘I Like It’ hitmaker’s official YouTube channel.

Dua Lipa and Little Mix songwriter Kamille teams up with Nile Rodgers on new song

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa and Little Mix’s songwriter Kamille has released a song with funk legend Nile Rodgers.
The pair have teamed up on the funky tune ‘Muscle Memory’, which is self-produced by Kamille and is part of her upcoming project.
Kamille said: “Muscle Memory was the first idea I wrote and produced from my upcoming body of work. It definitely steered the path for where I headed musically. I wanted to make a song about those lonely Friday nights we’ve all experienced when you’re missing someone… But it’s now turned into the song I put on when I wanna vibe and have fun lol! To have a legend like Nile Rodgers feature on a song made completely by myself is such an honour, and I can’t wait for people to hear more of what’s coming.”
The musician – whose real name is Camille Angelina Purcell – has also been in the studio with Kylie Minogue, FLO, Mimi Webb, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Ann Pinnock, Cat Burns, Khalid, Freya Ridings and Ashnikko, choosing to empower fellow female artists.
Last summer, songwriter Kamille teased that Perrie’s solo material will “blow everyone’s minds”.
She told OfficialCharts.com: “Perrie will get in the booth and she’ll be so worried and insecure. Even when I was with her the other week with Steve Mac, she got into the booth and was like ‘I don’t know if I can do it.’
“I looked at her and I was like ‘Are you actually serious? Your voice is one of the best voices I’ve ever heard, hands down.’ She’s incredible. She doesn’t even know how good she is, and that’s one of the most beautiful things about Perrie; she’s so humble. It’s been so exciting to be making music with her. I can’t wait for you guys to hear it all done.
“As you know, there’s so much more to come from her.”

McFly call Lewis Capaldi the new Bon Jovi

OHMYGOSSIP — McFly have described Lewis Capaldi as the new Bon Jovi.
The ‘Five Colours In Her Hair’ hitmakers are joining the ‘Forget Me’ singer as the main support for a string of outdoor shows this summer and they are excited to join him on the bill.
Danny Jones told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “Bon Jovi was today’s Lewis Capaldi!”
The quarter – which also includes Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter – see Lewis as a rocker at heart, and the chance to support him was too good to pass up.
Dougie added: “I’m a huge fan. He’s an absolute dude. I can’t wait.
“When we got those shows confirmed I was like, ‘Wow that’s one of the most exciting things I’ve heard in ages’.
“We don’t often do supporting slots because we don’t get the right opportunities. This is an incredible opportunity.”
Meanwhile, the band are looking forward to releasing their new album ‘Power To Play’ – which they will be launching with a special show at Camden’s Underworld on June 8 – and continuing to grow their “community”.
Danny said: “What we were chasing from the album was something new, fresh and exciting. Most of all, we want people to create memories of this album.
“The community that the McFly fan base brings is so cool, and the friendships they make are massively important.
“We can already see certain songs and certain lyrics that fans will connect to the most.”
Of the new song and album, the ‘Obviously’ hitmakers recently said in a statement: “Once we had landed on the fact that we were going to do 80s rock, there was just something in it that had such a McFlyness within it. High concept, guitars front and centre, colourful. It’s all the things we have always loved about music and what we do with this band.”
They admitted they were inspired by their own experiences at gigs.
They added: “We all went to see Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer last year and seeing so many people had come to the same place to enjoy rock music was incredible. Rock music celebrates life and having fun, and it feels like we all got deprived of that for such a long time.”

Travis Scott teases long-awaited new album is ‘on the way’

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis Scott’s ‘Utopia’ album is “on the way”.
The 32-year-old rapper has given Houston’s professional baseball team, the Astros, a taste of the long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s ‘Astroworld’.
Speaking to KRIV’s Sports Director Mark Berman in a Twitter clip taken at Minute Maid Park, he teased: “It’s on the way now, Mark.”
The hip-hop star most recently released the collaborative effort, ‘Ring Ring’, with Chase B and Don Toliver featuring Quavo and Ty Dolla $ign.
Travis previously revealed he’d been working with new collaborators on his upcoming album in a bid to evolve his music.
He told i-D magazine in 2021: “I never tell people this, and I’m probably going to keep it a secret still, but I’m working with some new people and I’m just trying to expand the sound.
“I’ve been making beats again, rapping on my own beats, just putting everything together and trying to grow it really. That’s been one of the most fun things about working on this album. I’m evolving, collaborating with new people, delivering a whole new sound, a whole new range.”
And he also claimed the record focuses on what he sees as the key components of a utopian state – “medicine, nursing, being a better person, talking, language, communication.”
Speaking to Tom Sachs for ‘CR MEN’, he explained: “You think utopia is a society where everything is good: health, buildings, architecture – nah. It’s just about proper lines of communication.
“Because that’s the dystopian shit we’re in right now. It’s all hate, hate, hate, and all of that is drawn from what? Miscommunication, non-communication, non-understandable communication, ignorance to communication.
“‘I don’t like this person.’ Why? Because somebody told me something to not like this person? Because in history I read to not like this person? Why?”

The second track from the album, ‘Mourning’, is out on Friday (19.05.23).
The first, ‘Chemical’, was released in April as part of ‘The Diamond Collection’.

Speaking to Classic Pop magazine, Seal said: “The key to being a musician is not to lose sight of the fact that we’re just singers and songwriters.
“That’s it, that’s the job.
“Do that singular job and do it well.
“You can do other stuff like getting political in addition, but make sure you’ve got your songs together.
“That’s one reason I have the utmost respect for Ed Sheeran.
“I don’t own any of Ed’s records. I’ve not seen him in concert.
“But anyone who can stand up there at Wembley Stadium and play for three nights in a row, playing to 90,000 people a night with just an acoustic guitar: that’s someone who does one thing really great.

Billy Corgan ‘cried’ the day his ‘greatest opponent’ Kurt Cobain died

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Corgan mourned the loss of his “greatest opponent” when Kurt Cobain died.
The Smashing Pumpkins frontman wept when the Nirvana frontman’s death by suicide aged 27 was announced in April 1994.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he recalled: “When Kurt died, I cried because I lost my greatest opponent.
“I want to beat the best. I don’t want to win the championship because it’s just me and a bunch of jabronis — to use a wrestling term.
“It’s like Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest sports competitor I’ll ever see in my lifetime.”
Interestingly, months after Kurt’s passing, Smashing Pumpkins earned their first-ever number-one album with 1995’s ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’.
Nirvana had unexpected success with their landmark second album, 1991’s ‘Nevermind’, which topped the Billboard 200 chart in the US the following year and ended up selling around 300,000 copies a week.
The 56-year-old rocker rarely talks about their rivalry, but previously admitted he and Kurt “didn’t get along”, but he can’t speak a bad word about the Grunge pioneer because he was “that talented”.
He told The Independent in 2014: “I had a much more personal perspective, because I’d been in contact with Courtney [Love, Kurt’s widow] through a lot of the setting up of that period, and afterwards. I found it devastating because, whether we wanted to admit it or not, he was quarterback of the football team, leading the aesthetic and integrity charge. He knew how to navigate those things.”
Billy added: “Now, he and I didn’t necessarily get along.
“But I like to sing his praises, because he really was that talented. I like to think the world with him would have been a better place, and I like to think a lot of the crap music that followed wouldn’t have existed if he had been around to criticise it. Because he had the moral standing to slay generations with a strike of the pen.”

The singer revealed that they have something “very, very special” in the pipeline.
Looking to the future, Adam told PEOPLE: “We have something coming that’s very, very special. I think the best thing we’ve done in a long time. That’s all I’m going to say on that.”

As well as the late rap stars, there were duets with H.E.R., Stevie Nicks and Jason Derulo.

Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie added her iconic vocals to ‘Remedy’ and H.E.R. is on ‘Convince Me Otherwise’.
The record – which also boasts the previously released singles ‘Nobody’s Love’, ‘Memories’, and ‘Beautiful Mistakes’ with Megan Thee Stallion – is a tribute to the ‘Sugar’ hitmakers’ late manager Jordan Feldstein.
Frontman Adam Levine shared on social media at the time: “We built this thing together. A piece of me will always be missing. The loss is tragic in ways I’m still learning how to cope with. All I can do is keep him with me and honor him in the best way I know how.
“I miss him every single day. And I’m proud to have etched his name into the history of this band that he helped build from the ground up…every step of the way. We love you Jordi (sic).”

BTS are the authors of THAT BOOK, not Taylor Swift

OHMYGOSSIP — BTS have been confirmed as the authors of a memoir that fans speculated was penned by Taylor Swift.
The tome – which will be published by Flatiron – was temporarily titled ‘4C Untitled Flatiron Nonfiction Summer 2023’ and climbed to the top of the book charts in the US, and many Swifties thought it contained cryptic clues in relation to the Grammy-winning pop star, however, it has turned out to be a biography by the K-Pop septet.
Its title is ‘Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS’, and it’s the work of journalist Myeongseok Kang and the band – comprising RM, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jin, SUGA, and Jungkook.
The book is available to pre-order priced at $40 (£32).
The tome was originally set to be announced on June 13, which is Taylor’s lucky number.
However, it’s also the 10th anniversary of BTS’s 2013 debut single ‘No More Dream’.
Taylor had also announced that the re-recorded version of her 2010 album ‘Speak Now’ will be out on July 7, “just in time for July 9th, IYKYK (if you know, you know).”
That date of July 9 is mentioned on the album’s track ‘Last Kiss’ and is also the book’s release date.
The South Korean boy band are currently on hiatus while they focus on solo projects and embark on military service.
And SUGA, 30, recently admitted he’s looking forward to the day they reunite and hopes they have a long future ahead, but even if they don’t, he wants to be around his bandmates for life.
Speaking to bandmate RM, 28, on a recent episode of his ‘Suchwita’ podcast, he said: “I dream of a future where the seven of us are together until we die. I’d like for the seven of us to be together for a long, long time.
“I don’t know how much more time will pass, or how long we will [continue to] go forward, but even when we get old and stop [promoting as an act] I hope BTS can all be together.”

Chris Stapleton shocked to hear Dolly Parton named him her ‘favourite’ duet partner on star-studded rock album

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Stapleton was shocked that Dolly Parton named him her “favourite” duet partner on her upcoming rock album.
The country legend has collaborated with the biggest stars in rock on ‘Rockstar’, including Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks, and Sir Elton John, to name a few, but she’s said to have singled out the Grammy winner as her favourite.
On getting the call from Dolly to duet on a rendition of Bob Seger’s ‘Night Moves’, he told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It’s wild. She’s so wonderful to talk to; she’s so sweet all the time. She’s one of those calls where it’s like, ‘Whatever you want me to do.'”
And reacting to her naming him her favourite artist to sing with on the upcoming LP, he responded: “Oh wow. I know some of the other folks on there and that is quite a compliment, I appreciate that.”
The 77-year-old idol promised to make a rock record after she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the star-studded LP is set for release on November 17.
She said in a statement: “I’m so excited to finally present my first Rock and Roll album ‘Rockstar’.
“I am very honoured and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure.
“I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!”
Dolly’s announcement came with a 30-song track-list, with Paul and Ringo joining her for a cover of The Beatles’ classic ‘Let It Be’.
Brandi Carlile and Pink appear on a rendition of The Rolling Stones’ ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’, while Emmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow will be her guests on a song most popularised by Linda Ronstadt, ‘You’re no Good’.
Other collaborators on the album include Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, and Lizzo and her Sasha Flute.
Plus, Stevie Nicks, Chris Stapleton, Simon Le Bon, John Fogerty, Melissa Etheridge, Michael McDonald, Richie Sambora, Ronnie McDowell, the Jordanaires, and Kid Rock.
One contributor, Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington, has since died after recording the final track, ‘Free Bird’.
The first single from the album, ‘World on Fire’, is out now and was debuted by Dolly at the ACM Awards in Texas on Thursday (11.05.23).
Nine of the 30 songs on ‘Rockstar’ are originals, and the other 21 are covers of familiar material.

Maneskin’s Victoria De Angelis: Italy is still very conservative when it comes to homosexuality

OHMYGOSSIP — Maneskin bassist Victoria De Angelis says Italy is still “very conservative” when it comes to homosexuality.
The 23-year-old rocker – who was born in Vatican City, Rome – is openly queer and has had people in her home country make her feel “uncomfortable” for dating women.
She told The Big Issue magazine: “I remember when I first started dating girls, I felt people really staring.
“These things can really make you uncomfortable, even if it’s not such a big deal compared to what other people deal with. But I still just wish it could be completely normal.”
However, the ‘Supermodel’ hitmaker – whose bandmate Ethan Torchio is also gay – is hopeful that the younger generation is teaching their elders to be “tolerant” of the LGBTQIA+ community.
She added: “It’s very conservative still, in Italy. It’s a very Catholic country and many, many people still believe, because of that, that it’s a sin to be homosexual. So that’s why many people still can’t get over this. But hopefully the younger generations are opening their minds more, and even if they are religious, they can learn to be more respectful and tolerant towards people that just have their own sexuality. I think that’s a step that is starting now in Italy but it’s still gonna need time.”
Maneskin – who shot to fame after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 – stand for “freedom” and created a safe space for fans, no matter what their sexuality, gender identity, or background.
She explained: “We’re about freedom.
“So we would really just like to live in a more respectful world, where everyone can be safe and allowed to be who they are, without having to deal with any racism, homophobia, misogyny, or violence of any kind. We want to spread the message of believing in yourself and finding the courage to be who you are. But also… like, the f****** idiots should stop being such d****, you know?”
