OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl helped Guns N’ Roses close Glastonbury on Saturday (25.06.23) night.
The ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ hitmakers – featuring the original line-up of Axl Rose, 61, Slash, 57, and 59-year-old Duff McKagan – were the final act to perform on the Pyramid Stage on the penultimate day of the world-famous festival, and at the end of their set, the Foo Fighters frontman came out on stage to join them on ‘Paradise City’.
Introducing his friend, singer Axl said: “There’s never such a thing as too many guitars!”
The hit-filled set – which surprised fans by starting on time despite the group’s reputation for frequently being hours late to the stage – appeared blighted by sound issues.
And at one point, Axl told the crowd: “I cant walk out here that far because when I do I can only hear me and I cant hear the band. I’m not trying to wuss out they were.”
Earlier in the afternoon, Dave also made a guest appearance to play drums with The Pretenders.
Singer Chrissie Hynde had first brought The Smiths’ guitarist Johnny Marr – who had briefly joined the band in 1987 – onto the Park Stage to perform a string of hits including ‘Back on the Chain Gang’ and ‘Don’t Get Me Wrong’.
She told the crowd: “My favourite thing about Glastonbury over the years is seeing my guitar heroes.”
And later, she brought out Dave to play on ‘Tattooed Love Boys’.
Chrissie joked as she introduced the former Nirvana drummer to the stage: “Apparently there’s a drunk guy backstage…he insists on playing.”
Fans had also spotted Sir Paul McCartney at the side of the stage, and he popped out to give a quick thumbs up to the audience before retreating back to the sidelines.
On Friday (23.06.23), the Foo Fighters themselves performed a secret set on the Pyramid stage after being billed as mystery act The Churnups, though a number of clues leading up to the festival had made many fans correctly guess the identity of the unknown band.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sparks refuse to “rely on [their] past”.
The ‘This Town Ain’t Big Enough for the Both Of Us’ hitmakers – comprising brothers Russell and Ron Mael – have released 76 singles to date and they have no plans on stopping making new tunes anytime soon.
Russell told Big Issue magazine: “At this point, we really feel more urgent than ever.
“We’re even more motivated to prove a point – that you don’t have to fall into that trap of relying on your past.
“What you’re doing now has got to be compelling and modern and forward-thinking.
“And if it isn’t, then there’s no reason to even be doing it.”
The brothers believe they are still “musically strong” and offer something different to other artists.
Asked why they keep going, Ron said: “We always feel that what we’re doing is something both musically strong and unlike a lot of other things that are going on at the time.
“We feel that our music and our presentation is interesting, but it’s not trying to be quirky or oddball and all.”
Cate Blanchett appears in Sparks’ recent music video for their new album’s title track, ‘The Girl Is Crying in Her Latter’, and they explained they first met the ‘Tar’ actress when she knocked on their dressing room door at the Cesar Awards last year to say she was a fan, an encounter they described as “mind-blowing”.
Russell recalled: “I thought, ‘Maybe she’s in the wrong dressing room or something.’
“But she just came to introduce herself and said that she was a fan of the band.
“It was pretty mindblowing to both of us.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink dedicated a song to a terminally-ill fan as she performed her first ‘Summer Carnival’ show in London as part of American Express Presents BST Hyde Park on Saturday (24.06.23).
The 43-year-old singer kicked off her show with ‘Get the Party Started’ and wowed the crowd with her dazzling acrobatics and a string of hits including ‘Raise Your Glass’, ‘Who Knew?’ and ‘Just Like A Pill’, but took the time for a more sombre moment on the Great Oak Stage as she highlighted the plight of Michelle Oddy, who previously explained she needed to undergo a seven-organ transplant.
While talking about her dad’s influence on her as an introduction to the song ‘When I Get There’ – which written about his passing in 2021 – P!nk mentioned the interaction she had with Michelle’s friend earlier in the week, when she received a letter explaining the fan’s condition and last wishes.
“This song came to me around that time. And now I want to dedicate it to you and Michelle. I read your letter and I’m going to make that happen, okay?
“I’m really sorry for what you’re going through. My heart is wrapped around yours, and hers, and the family”.
During the set, Pink also told the crowd about her fans’ tradition of throwing frog plushies on stage, saying she donated all of them to children’s hospitals, and urged them to “keep them coming!”
At one point, Pink’s 12-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart, joined her on stage to sing ‘Cover Me In Sunshine’ together, and as well as her own hits, the US superstar also treated the audience to covers of Bob Dylan’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’ and Sade’s ‘No Ordinary Love’.
Earlier in the day Gayle got the audience going with her 2022 hit ‘abcdefu’, and Sam Ryder – who turned 34 this Sunday (25.06.23) – described the fans’ energy as his “best birthday present ever”. He wowed the crowd with his Eurovision song ‘Space Man’, ‘Fought + Lost and even a cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’.
Gwen Stefani performed right before Pink, and brought out special guest Eve to join her on ‘Rich Girl’ and ‘Let Me Blow Your Mind’.
P!nk is set to perform for a second date at the American Express Presents BST Hyde Park festival this Sunday (25.06.23).

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Clarkson wants Mariah Carey to get more credit as a songwriter.
The ‘Since U Been Gone’ hitmaker has heaped praise on the pop megastar – who has had huge hits with the likes of ‘Vision of Love’, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ and ‘Always Be My Baby’ – and insisted she should be recognised for her talent as a writer.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on ‘Apple Music 1’, she said: “People don’t give her enough credit. People give her credit as like a singer.
“I don’t think people give her credit as a writer. I don’t think people realise. She wrote all that s***. No, financially she’s rocking it because of what she’s done.”
The 41-year-old singer suggested Mariah should be held the same regard as the likes of Carol King and James Taylor.
She added: “I think people think of her as a songbird and don’t… they don’t think of her as the writer that she is.
“Because we talk about Carol King, we talk about James Taylor. Those are all amazing people. Yes. But I’m just saying…”
When it comes to her own music, Kelly will release her 10th studio album ‘Chemistry’ on Friday (23.06.23), and she insisted the new record is as much a “relationship album” as it is about her divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
She explained: “There was no thought process to this album for me, really… I mean thought process in the sense of I’m going through something and trying to figure out where I’m at and what I’m feeling and what I’m going to do…
“It’s really just, yeah, I didn’t really think about it. I do like the idea of taking a quirky pop, happy sound melodically, and the sound of the production, and then putting a dark lyric with it.
“It’s a dumpster fire. Join in, join in. It was also very thought out and very much on purpose to have the album not just be a divorce or breakup album. It was more of a relationship album… ‘Chemistry.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Paul McCartney has insisted there will be nothing “artificially or synthetically created” on the upcoming new Beatles song.
The 80-year-old musician revealed last week work had been finished on “the final song” by the group – which also included drummer Ringo Starr and the late George Harrison and John Lennon – using Artificial Intelligence (AI), but he’s now spoken out again to clarify the track doesn’t feature a digitally-generated likeness of the ‘Imagine’ singer’s voice.
Paul tweeted: “Been great to see such an excitinsg response to our forthcoming Beatles project. No one is more excited than us to be sharing something with you later in the year.
“We’ve seen some confusion and speculation about it. Seems to be a lot of guess work out there. Can’t say too much at this stage but to be clear, nothing has been artificially or synthetically created. It’s all real and we all play on it. We cleaned up some existing recordings – a process which has gone on for years.
“We hope you love it as much as we do. More news in due course – Paul.”
The ‘Live and Let Die’ hitmaker had previously explained AI had been use to make John’s vocals on the song “pure”.
He told BBC Radio 4: “When we came to make what will be the last Beatles record, it was a demo that John had. We were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI. Then we can mix the record, as you would normally do.”
Sir Peter Jackson’s 2021 Beatles documentary ‘Get Back’ pushed them to complete the song because Paul explained the director “was able to extricate John’s voice from a ropey little bit of cassette.”
He added: “We had John’s voice and a piano and he could separate them with AI. They tell the machine, ‘That’s the voice. This is a guitar. Lose the guitar.’”
The music legend didn’t name the song, but according to reports, it’s said to be ‘Now and Then’.
John – who was murdered in New York in 1980 aged 40 – penned the song and his widow Yoko Ono handed it to his bandmate in 1994 on a tape labelled “For Paul”.
It had been considered for release as part of the band’s ‘Anthology’ project, which included a documentary, a three-volume set of double albums and a book on the history of the group.
However, they went for ‘Real Love’ and ‘Free as a Bird’ from the same tape.
Iconic Beatles producer George Martin refused to produce the former track so they recruited ELO’s Jeff Lynne, who had already co-produced the latter tune.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Laverne has called on festivalgoers to “party responsibly”.
The 45-year-old broadcaster – who was one of the BBC’s Glastonbury hosts – wants people to “show some love to the planet” and make sure they take their tents home after attending the musical events, as around 250,000 are left behind in the UK each year, with most going to landfill.
Lauren has praised Decathlon’s ‘No Tent Left Behind’ initiative, which promises to give people a refund in the form of a giftcard if they return the £29.99 Quechua MH100 Two Person Tent – their most popular product during festival season – to store after use.
She said: “It’s time for us to party responsibly at all festivals this year and show some love to the planet. Decathlon’s ‘No Tent Left Behind’ campaign allows people to enjoy their festival experience in an eco-friendly way – and earn themselves a bit of cash back at the end of it all. Keep the tunes – and tents going, and let’s make a lasting impact, one tent at a time!”
The pledge will run until 21 July, and aims to reduce waste and promote sustainable festival fun by giving money back on the tents, which must be in good condition so they can be resold as part of Decathlon’s Second Life range.
The company have also teamed up with Jack Teagle to create special in-store artwork highlighting the environmental impact of tents being left behind.

We know single-use tents are an environmental problem, and aim to reduce the amount left behind with our No Tent Left Behind campaign. The ‘Little Bit Of Love’ singer deliberately sets his own ticket price as low as he can so as many fans as possible can see him and he admitted to being “gutted” after new research showed 69% of Brits are cutting back on live experiences, including gigs, festivals and theatre events, in order to save money in the current climate.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey has announced three surprise shows in Europe next month.
The 37-year-old singer – whose headlining set on the Other Stage at Glastonbury was cut short on Saturday (24.06.23) after she started 30 minutes late – has unveiled new tour dates in Amsterdam, Dublin and Paris.
In a statement, she said: “I love Europe and after playing Glastonbury, have decided to play a few more shows in various countries around my Hyde Park Show in London on July 9th.
“Today I am announcing shows in Amsterdam on July 4th, Dublin on July 7th and Paris on July 10th. I look forward to seeing you all.”
The first show will take place at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome, followed by a gig at Dublin’s 3Arena before the run comes to an end at the Olympia music hall.
Over the weekend, the ‘Summertime Sadness’ singer kept fans waiting for half an hour beyond her scheduled start time at Glastonbury, then blamed the fact she was getting her hair done for her tardiness – only for her hairdresser to appear on stage to finish tending to her tresses as she sang.
After performing ‘Cherry’, Lana said: “Thank you so much, I’m so happy to be here.
“I was so f****** late and I am about to rush this set. If they cut power, they cut power, I’m super f****** sorry.
“My hair takes so long to do. Let’s keep on running the set as it’s supposed to go.”
Her show had been due to end at 11.45pm, but was still going on more than 15 minutes later and because of the site’s curfew, her microphone was then cut mid-performance as she sang ‘White Mustang’.
After some moments of confusion, Lana had discussions with someone on stage, and then mouthed the words: “I’m sorry.”
The audience booed and chanted: “Let her sing!”
But Lana then organised her fans into a sing-a-long of her 2012 hit ‘Video Games’ and walked down to the crowd to take photos and sign autographs for fans.

OHMYGOSSIP — Zayn Malik has dropped a hint he’s about to release his first new music in nearly two years by sharing a short teaser clip online.
The former One Direction star last released ‘Yellow Tape’ – a collection of three songs – via Dropbox back in 2021 shortly before he was dropped by his record label RCA – however, the pop star went on to sign a new deal with Mercury Records and it appears he’s about to share the results with his fans.
The 30-year-old singer wiped his Instagram page of previous posts and added one video which showed him on a motorcycle revving the engine and getting ready to speed away. Fans have been speculating the short clip could be a first look at a new music video.
He also changed his bio to include a link to pre-save new music.
The news comes just weeks after Zayn shared an emotional message to his fans in a post on Twitter, thanking them for their support over the years.
He wrote: “I would like to say thank you to everyone that has supported me throughout this amazing journey, especially to my fans who I owe my life to. Love and adore you and see everything you do for me.”
It was also recently revealed Zayn has been busy in the studio working with One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder, who let the news slip during an appearance on ‘Capital Breakfast’ with Roman Kemp.
Ryan said of the collaboration: “I guess the cat’s out of the bag, but I’ve been working with Zayn a bunch for the past eight months as well.”
He added: “I was floored by his voice. Absolutely floored. I was like, okay, this guy’s nuts.”
Ryan previously wrote a song called ‘Right Now’ for One Direction.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Paul McCartney joked that Bruce Springsteen has “ruined it for everyone” as fans now expect three to four-hour gigs.
The 81-year-old former Beatle has blamed The Boss, 73, for starting the trend of performing mammoth sets that go on for hours, unlike in the legendary Liverpool group’s 60s heyday when they barely played for an hour if fans were lucky.
Speaking on Conan O’Brien’s ‘Needs A Friend’ podcast, he said: “These days, pretty much there’s the main act and there might be a warm-up act.
“Then [the 1960s], it was a lot of people on the bill because nobody did long, now people will do three or four hours. I blame Bruce Springsteen – I’ve told him so, I said ‘it’s your fault man.”
The ‘Let It Be’ hitmaker added: “You can’t now do an hour, we used to do a half hour. That was The Beatles thing – half an hour and we got paid for it.
“I tried to work out why was it so short. Well, because there were a lot of people on the bill, and I think when you went to a thing if you were a comedian the promoter would say ‘how long can you do? Four minutes?’.
“The guy would say yes, so they would do four and so we thought, ‘well, half an hour that’s like epic’… It didn’t seem strange’.”
Last year, Macca celebrated his 80th birthday with a three-hour headline set at Glastonbury.
Meanwhile, Springsteen is set to play American Express presents BST Hyde Park in London not once, but twice with The E Street Band on July 6 and July 8.
The ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ hitmaker and his band are playing their first live concerts in the UK since the 2016 ‘River Tour’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams will be reunited with his former Take That bandmate Mark Owen at a pair of shows.
The 49-year-old pop star is headlining two huge outdoor concerts at King Charles’ Royal Sandringham Estate on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August, for what mark the first large-scale live music events to be hosted at the Royal Family’s Norfolk residence.
Mark, 51, will perform on both nights, with singer Dagny opening on the Saturday and former ‘X Factor’ star Lucy Spraggan on Sunday.
Giles Cooper, promoter at the event’s organisers Heritage Live, previously said: “It’s been an ambition of us all at Heritage Live to stage a concert for the legendary Robbie Williams and the thing about Robbie is that he keeps getting better and better!
“His 2022 arena tour show was the best I’d ever seen him perform and for me he’s the best entertainer since Elvis! We can’t wait! It will be the most magical concert in the most amazing surroundings that’ll live in our memories forever!”
Mark released his fifth solo album ‘Land of Dreams’ last September, and has since reunited with Take That’s Gary Barlow, 52, and Howard Donald, 55, to perform at The King’s Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle.
Meanwhile, Robbie recently opened up about his exit from Take That in 1995 and explained he was suffering a “nervous breakdown” at the time.
Appearing on BBC Radio 2, he said: “I think that I was in the middle of a nervous breakdown, my first of many. All the information going into the computer had made the computer overload.
“Things weren’t great at home, things weren’t great with my job, and then I was new to these phenomena of extreme fame.”
The ‘Angels’ singer insisted some of his problems stemmed from being in the spotlight from a young age.
He explained: “[I was] doing my GCSEs [exams], which I failed at, to then all of a sudden being in Japan and having 3000 fans outside and then that being the case everywhere that we go.
“It was unsafe and it was surreal and that, mixed with what I was ingesting to cope with my life and the way that my body and mind reacts to it, didn’t mix well.”
Robbie quit the band in the middle of the ‘Nobody Else’ world tour and he claims his bandmates urged him to leave before the shows ended.
He went on: “It felt like I was in some sort of burning building and I needed to get out. That’s how it felt at the time. And then I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll do this tour and then I’ll leave’. And they actually went, ‘Actually, if you’re going to leave, can you go now?'”
Robbie went on to launch a successful solo career but later rejoined Take That for a reunion, as well as making a number of surprise appearances with the band over the years.

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Richards would only consider entering the Eurovision Song Contest if she was “ready to chuck in” her career.
The 45-year-old Steps star unveiled her second solo album ‘Euphoria’ today (28.06.23) and shared the lead single, a cover of Celine Dion’s ‘I Surrender’.
The album is a follow-up of her 2019 debut studio album ‘My Wildest Dreams’.
And the ‘One for Sorrow’ hitmaker says going on the world’s biggest televised contest – which launched the career of Swedish pop icons ABBA – is a huge “risk” and she doesn’t want to ruin her lengthy career.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “It’s such a great show and Sam Ryder did so well but poor Mae Muller didn’t do so well. I’m sure it’s a wonderful thing to be part of but I’m not sure I’m ready to chuck in my career just yet. It’s such a risk and I’ve never been a risk taker, so I’m probably not the best option.”
Meanwhile, 90s superstars Steps, who are responsible for cheesy pop hits like ‘Tragedy’ and ‘5,6,7,8’, are getting ready to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
Claire was just 19 when she joined the rest of the band – made up of Lisa Scott-Lee, 46, Faye Tozer, 46, Ian ‘H’ Watkins, 46, and Lee Latchford-Evans, 47, back in 1997.
Reminiscing on her time in the band, she told OK! magazine: “I don’t think any of us knew or realised that it would be 25 years and we’re still going.
“It’s over half my life that I’ve been in Steps. I’ve been in it longer than I haven’t been in it!
“I can’t actually believe it’s been 25 years – that’s a long time. When you get to that point in your life and look at your career, it’s quite unbelievable because I don’t feel a day older than I did when we first started. And our relationships with each other are pretty much the same as they were 25 years ago, too.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Willis felt “inadequate” when Busted started because he was “pushed” into playing bass.
The 40-year-old bassist – who found fame as one third of the pop punk band alongside Charlie Simpson, 38, and James Bourne, 39, in the noughties – admits he suffered from imposter syndrome as he never felt good enough to be in the band.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “I’m not a very talented musician. I’ve never been very good. After years of hating myself about it, I realised I just have to work my a*** off at it.
“So we start the tour in September and rehearse in August. But I start in June and play through everything so when I get in the room I’m already prepared.”
As the band prepares to mark their 20th anniversary with an album and tour, Matt has admitted he wasn’t able to enjoy their early success because he felt like a fraud.
He said: “I was never a bass player. When we got signed, they said, ‘Charlie and James are much better guitarists than you so you’re playing bass.’
“It was pushed on me and it took ages to learn and I felt really inadequate. Playing bass and singing is really hard because it’s alternate rhythms. So I felt constantly like a big of a fraud.”
The trio – who recently teamed up with All Time Low on a new version of their classic hit ‘Crashed The Wedding’ and reworked their old hits with other groups in the genre including Simple Plan – felt like “outsiders” because they weren’t pop, but they were “cool enough” to be rock.
He added: “Busted were in a really weird place because it wasn’t a rock band, we weren’t cool enough to be accepted by that world but we weren’t a stereotypical pop band, so we were skate kids who couldn’t skate in their own lane – the outsiders.”

OHMYGOSSIP — James Blake has announced his sixth studio album, ‘Playing Robots Into Heaven’.
The Grammy-winning star has shared the lead single, ‘Big Hammer’, from the upcoming follow-up to 2021’s ‘Friends That Break Your Heart’.
He tapped Oscar Hudson for the music promo to accompany the track, who is known for his work with Radiohead.
The full album is due for release on September 8.
James is also embarking on a tour with dates in the UK, Europe and North America.
The run kicks off at Fabrique in Milan on September 18, and includes a stop in James’ home city of London at Alexandra Palace on September 28, before wrapping up in Los Angeles on October 19.
Fans who pre-order the album from www.jamesblakemusic.com by 6pm on Monday July 3 will get access to exclusive ticket pre-sale for James’ Alexandra Palace show on July 4 ahead of general sale on July 7.
Meanwhile, James previously opened up about the period in his career when his mental health spiralled from trying to maintain a “cool” stage persona.
The ‘Retrograde’ singer suffered from social anxiety in the past and wasn’t “great to talk to at the time” and put pressure on himself to be the “coolest version” of himself “possible”.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music in 2021, in observance of World Mental Health Day, James shared: “And so, the chasm between the person that you’re presenting as your personality to the public, and the person you really are when the mic is off, and you go home, and you’ve got to deal with your own problems, becomes grander and grander.
“And it’s just like for me, the thing was, the difference between my musical, cool, doing loads of collabs, and producing blah, blah, blah, and doing dub, electronic music, and good reviews, and all that stuff, and me just spiralling … and actually not being that great to talk to at the time, and not really having anything to say, and just having loads of social anxiety, but then going on stage and just being the coolest version of myself possible.
“And you’re rewarded financially for that in a lot of cases. I think it’s Pavlovian. It’s like the more you get the treat, the more you return to that behaviour. I think the answer for me, was to decide that I was okay with not getting the treat, and that I would decide to stop pretending that I was like, whatever part of me it was that was saying, okay, I need to appear this way to be as perfect as the kids at school thought I wasn’t, or I’m going to be cooler than… Whatever.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Zayn has inked a record deal with Mercury Records in the US and Island in the UK.
The former One Direction star is set to release his first new song in nearly two years this summer, after wiping his social media accounts and sharing a snippet of the new track online, and it’s now been revealed that he’s signed to a new label after departing RCA Records, the label he signed to in 2015 after quitting the chart-topping boy band.
Mercury label president Tyler Arnold said: “As soon as Zayn and I met, I knew we had to work together.
“I was blown away by the new music, but just as impressed by his vision, drive and spirit. We’re honoured he and his team have joined us at Mercury Records. We’ve got an incredible opportunity to tell the next chapter of his story together.”
Island president Louis Bloom added in a statement to Music Week: “When Tyler first played me the music I was totally blown away.
I knew we at Island had to do everything we could to be involved. This is Zayn on top of his game and this next chapter is going to take him to the next level. Working with Nicola and Taryn at ZenKai management has been an absolute pleasure too and we are so excited for the world to hear what’s coming!”
The 30-year-old singer wiped his Instagram page of previous posts and added one video which showed him on a motorcycle revving the engine and getting ready to speed away. Fans have been speculating the short clip could be a first look at a new music video.
He also changed his bio to include a link to pre-save new music.
The ‘Pillowtalk’ singer’s last release was ‘Yellow Tape’, a collection of three songs shared via Dropbox back in 2021, shortly before he was dropped RCA .
The news comes just weeks after Zayn shared an emotional message to his fans in a post on Twitter, thanking them for their support over the years.
He wrote: “I would like to say thank you to everyone that has supported me throughout this amazing journey, especially to my fans who I owe my life to. Love and adore you and see everything you do for me.”
It was also recently revealed Zayn has been busy in the studio working with One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder, who let the news slip during an appearance on ‘Capital Breakfast’ with Roman Kemp.
Ryan said of the collaboration: “I guess the cat’s out of the bag, but I’ve been working with Zayn a bunch for the past eight months as well.”
He added: “I was floored by his voice. Absolutely floored. I was like, okay, this guy’s nuts.”
Ryan previously wrote a song called ‘Right Now’ for One Direction.

OHMYGOSSIP — Leigh-Anne Pinnock says Little Mix had to come to an end after she and bandmate Perrie Edwards had children.
The girl group – who were formed on ‘The X Factor’ in 2011, going on to become the first group to win the UK talent show – decided to go on hiatus following the completion of their ‘Confetti Tour’ in 2022.
The decision came in the wake of Leigh-Anne and her now-husband, footballer Andre Gray, welcoming twins into the world in August 2021 and Perrie and her soccer player fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having son Axel that same month.
Now, Leigh-Anne, 31, can’t imagine how the dynamics of touring and promoting songs as a group would work with two members being mothers.
Speaking on The Face podcast, she said: “I think, as I say, 11 years in a group, there’s gotta come a time where you spread your own wings and sort of just stand on your own two feet. I think we all came to that sort of mutual decision and I think we’re just ready to see what the world has to offer for us just solo and individually. Also, me and Perrie having children, I genuinely I don’t know how it would work in that group dynamic with kids now. I just don’t understand how.”
Although Little Mix – also comprised of Jade Thirlwall and Jesy Nelson, who quit the group in December 2020 before the trio disbanded – are no more, Leigh-Anne insists that they will always be as “close” as “family” and will always support each other in their lives and solo projects.
Discussing the split and some of the doubts that crept in about the decision, the ‘Don’t Say Love’ singer said: “I feel like it was a gradual thing, like conversations kind of happening, but I’m just happy that we all mutually agreed. You know, there wasn’t one person like, ​’No, we can’t do this!’ As much as we all had come to the unanimous decision, it was like, we would be on tour, the three of us would be thinking, ​’Are we sure we wanna do this?’ We had moments like that, like, ​’I don’t know if this is right.’ Because we just had such a beautiful time on the last tour.
“We’re so close, we’re literally like family and you can’t choose your family. They are just always going to be my sisters. Yeah, it’s weird and it’s hard, but yeah, it’s definitely the right thing to do.”
