OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo relished getting to “express those feelings of rage and dirty s*** and messing s*** up” on ‘vampire’.
The ‘good 4 u’ hitmaker doesn’t hold back on the furious lead single from her hotly-anticipated second studio album, ‘GUTS’, as she rips into an ex-lover.
She got so mad that the lyric “fame f****r” was changed into “dream crusher” on the clean version.
The 20-year-old pop star admitted she loved every second of getting to air her anger.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she said: “I think I listened to a lot of heavier stuff growing up and that’s what I’ve always been drawn to. But I think in my regular day-to-day life, I don’t get to express those feelings of rage and dirty s*** and messing s*** up.
“And I think in music, you have the freedom to express feelings that you don’t get to express in your everyday life. And so I think maybe that’s why I’m so drawn to this, because I don’t get to be messy every day in daily life and work.”
On what to expect from the new song, a press release stated: “‘Vampire’ is the sound of an artist firmly in control, imbued with a sense of maturity and a bold confidence… With ‘Vampire,’ she is poised to begin an exciting new chapter.”
The album, which is set for release on September 8, is about the intensity of growing up.
In a statement, she explained: “I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20—it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change. I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully the album reflects that.”
‘GUTS’ is the follow-up to Olivia’s record-breaking 2021 debut studio album, ‘SOUR’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Beabadoobee has axed her European ‘Beatopia’ tour due to illness.
The ‘Glue Song’ singer – who supported Taylor Swift on select dates of her US leg of ‘The Eras Tour’ – has cancelled the shows after she fell “really ill” and admits she needs to get herself to a “healthy place” before she can return to the stage.
Offering refunds to ticketholders, she said in a social media statement: “This was a very hard decision to make but due to illness I will have to cancel my upcoming run of EU shows.
“I’m so sorry and don’t want to let anyone down. I’ve just fallen really ill and need to work on getting back to a healthy place before performing again. I’m so thankful to every single person who has bought a ticket. Refunds will be from point of purchase. All of you mean the world to me and I will be back ASAP to bring you all the best shows possible. Love Bea.”
The run was due to kick off on June 30 in Oslo, Norway, before calling at Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Amsterdam, and ending on July 9 in Munich.
After that leg, the 23-year-old Filipino-British musician – whose real name is Beatrice Laus – is currently due to perform in London on July 12, before heading to North America.
Meanwhile, the acclaimed singer-songwriter – who also previously supported her Dirty Hit labelmates The 1975 – opened up about the dark side of the social media app TikTok earlier this year, and the “grim comments” she has received from young boys on her videos.
She said: “There’s this weird sexualisation.
“You go on their profile and they look like babies. I’m, like, what is going on with you?
“I think there’s this weird generation of kids on TikTok that have no sort of boundaries or social understanding of what’s weird to say. I think people feel like the phone screen separates them from being a d***. It doesn’t.”

OHMYGOSSIP — N-Dubz have shared their latest track, ‘The Ick’.
The British hip-hop group – comprising Tulisa, Dappy and Fazer – sing about being turned off by someone bragging about their riches when the other person can afford it all themselves on the song from their upcoming LP, ‘Timeless’.
One line goes: “Spend all your money who you tryna impress
“You’ve been doing too much you’ve been giving me the ick.”
The upcoming LP – their first in 13 years – sees the group tackle issues such as “toxic relationships, mental health, and growing up in inner-city London.”
The ‘I Need You’ hitmakers returned to the charts earlier this year with singles ‘Charmer’, ‘Trust No One (Tour Bus Freestyle), and ‘February’, whilst other tracks from the forthcoming album include the Michael Jackson-inspired ‘Habibti’, and R’n’B ballad ‘Believe Me Now’.
The record announcement followed a sell-out reunion tour for the group towards the end of last year- which took place across various arenas up and down the country in November and December 2022, including four sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena.
‘Timeless’ – the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Love.Live.Life’ – is set for release on August 4.

By contrast, Tulisa recently revealed she suffered a “midlife crisis” in her 20s after N-Dubz disbanded and had no idea how to pay her bills.
The 34-year-old singer struggled to cope with everyday issues after they stepped away from the group back in 2011 because she’d spent all of her adult life being wrapped up in a music industry bubble.
She told The Independent newspaper: “I ended up having a kind of midlife crisis. I didn’t know how to pay my rent, my bills … I didn’t even know how much a pint of milk was. It was like I had to learn how to take control of my life, and start from the beginning.”
Tulisa later launched a solo music career and became a judge on reality TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ before reuniting with her bandmates last year for a new album and a tour.
However, Tulisa is adamant she’s had to put her hard-partying ways behind her because at 34 she considers herself “too old” to still be doing shots before shows.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora sings about “never feeling more alive” when her filmmaker husband Taika Waititi “saw her naked” for the first time.
The 32-year-old pop star has shared the third single from her upcoming album, ‘You and I’, which explores the power couple’s love journey, and she doesn’t hold back.
She sings: “And, baby, when you saw me naked. I’ve never felt more alive.”
Rita said of the song: “‘Don’t Think Twice’ is about not thinking twice and just jumping in, romantically. You only live once, so it’s really about seizing the moment, and not being held back by thoughts of what might or might not happen.”
The ‘Anywhere’ singer and her 47-year-old other half goofy dance in the woods in the dramatic music video.
The music promo – which is also directed by Academy Award winner Waititi – is “associated with dreams, nightmares, and the spirit world, and it sees Rita channelling Katherine from ‘Wuthering Heights’ while trapped in a ghostly forest within a dystopian world.”
The Eurodance tune follows ‘You Only Love Me’ and ‘Praising You’ with Fatboy Slim, and comes ahead of the ‘Hot Right Now’ singer’s upcoming performance of the latter song with the DJ – whose real name is Norman Cook – at Pride in London on Saturday (01.07.23).
Rita recently shared that the album reflects how much she has “grown up” over the “past few years”.
The singer explained that co-writing ‘You and I’ from her diary entries made her realise just how much has changed in her life.
Rita was quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “Over the past few years, I’ve just grown up. My life evolved. I started journaling and those journals turned into songs. If you’re being vulnerable with your songs, you have to be honest.
“That is the magic. Diving into songwriting with this album has been an eye-opener.”
The album documents the chapters of her relationship with her director spouse.
Rita said in a statement: “This album really means a lot to me.
“It’s like my diary of the last few years, it’s my sound and it just feels so true to me and who I am today.”
‘You and I’ – the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Phoenix’ – is Rita’s first album as part of her new partnership with BMG, which sees her the rights to all her music, future, and past, and is released on July 14.

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX has had a “full-circle” moment as she releases the ‘Barbie’ soundtrack song, ‘Speed Drive’, 26 years after singing Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’ on a cruise ship aged four.
The ‘Vroom Vroom’ hitmaker – who has a penchant for singing about cars – hits the gas hard on the frantic pop song.
Sharing the story of her singing 1997’s ‘Barbie Girl’ on as a child, Charli recently shared on social media: “i’d always played with barbie whilst i was growing up but my first proper life changing barbie experience was when i went on a cruise ship holiday with my parents at the age of 4 (lol).
there was a talent competition on the boat and i begged my parents to let me enter. they were certain i’d get on stage and crumble especially as all i wanted to do was sing aqua’s “barbie girl” a capella, on my own, no musical backing track or anything. i did my hair in pigtails and wore my favorite tartan skirt and sang the song on a huge empty stage whilst my parents freaked out, getting ready for me to have a total breakdown – but apparently i was fine, i just got up there and sang my little heart out and won the whole thing. i’d always loved the escapism my barbies provided me with and its kind of a full circle moment to be a part of this soundtrack and movie. so thank you so much mark and greta for having me. my song for the soundtrack is called speed drive and it’s out June 30th (sic)”
Mark Ronson, who oversaw the ‘Barbie’ LP, recently explained how Charli was the first artist he thought of when he was tasked with producing the LP for Greta Gerwig’s live-action movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

OHMYGOSSIP — Writing ‘vampire’ was an “out-of-body experience” for Olivia Rodrigo.
The 20-year-old singer’s first single from her upcoming album ‘GUTS’ was produced by and co-written with Daniel Nigro, who she worked with on her 2021 album ‘Sour‘ and Olivia revealed that the song was inspired by her own feelings.
She said: “I was upset about a certain situation and went to the studio alone and sat down at the grand piano, and the chords and melody and lyrics just poured out of me — almost like an out-of-body experience.
“It’s a song about feeling confused and hurt, and at first I thought it was meant to be a piano ballad. But when Dan and I started working on it, we juxtaposed the lyrics with these big drums and crazy tempo changes. So now it’s like a heartbreak song you can dance to.”
And, Olivia previously revealed she relished getting to “express those feelings of rage and dirty s*** and messing s*** up” on ‘vampire’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Biffy Clyro understand what Lewis Capaldi is going through.
Lewis, 26, recently revealed he is taking a break from touring due to his ongoing battle with Tourette’s syndrome and Biffy Clyro – which is comprised of frontman Simon Neil and twins James and Ben Johnston – admitted they have been close to breaking point in their career.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column at the O2 Silver Clef Awards in London , Simon said: “You need a lot of stamina when you’re going on the road.
“And we’re lucky that I guess as a band we’ve got each other.
“That can give you a support network that perhaps can stave off those moments of panic.
“Someone like Lewis, he’s experiencing it all himself – the pressure to be charming, funny, sing amazing. And he’s obviously struggling. We’ve been close to those points, but we’ve always been able to rejuvenate and kind of come back. But that’s because we have support from each other.”
Meanwhile, Lewis’ close friend Niall Horan admitted his pal is in a “tough place” but he is “happy” he’s doing what’s best for his health.
Niall is quoted by The Sun as saying: “I speak to Lewis most days to be honest with you.
“So I’m really happy for Lewis that he’s able to take the time that he obviously feels he needs right now.
“But performing never gets easy. I don’t think you ever truly get used to singing in front of 100,000 people.
“If you have any sort of performance anxieties or anything like that then that stage can be a tough place.”
In a lengthy statement shared on social media, Lewis said: “The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you all know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.
“I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I’d hoped three weeks away would sort me out.
“But the truth is I’m still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s and it [is] obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Leigh-Anne Pinnock has collaborated with Raye’s younger sister Abby Keen for her solo album.
The former Little Mix star – who was in the girl group with Perrie Edwards, 29, Jade Thirlwall, 30, and Jesy Nelson, 32 – headed to Jamaica to work on the tracks for her debut LP.
Leigh-Anne wrote with producer PRGRSHN – a frequent collaborator with Stormzy, 29 – and 18-year-old songwriter Abby, whose older sibling is Raye, 25.
Appearing on The Face podcast, the 31-year-old singer said: “So Jamaica, I had a bunch of like my favourite producers and writers but also new people as well. I had PRGRSHN, who did a lot of the Stormzy stuff, Dyo, who’s just an incredible writer, who is now again like my family, she’s just amazing. Abby Keen, who is Raye’s little sister.”
Leigh-Anne compared the musical sisters to having the same level of talent as The Jackson 5 – the family band that launched the career of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson – and she has predicted that Abby’s own career will take off like a “rocket” when she unveils her music.
She said: “Jackson 5, honestly. I just can’t, they are phenomenal and I love them so much. Abby is just like a rocket. I can’t wait for her to come out with all her stuff, she’s incredible. She did one of my favourite songs on the album – she’s done quite a few.”
Revealing other collaborators on the album, Leigh-Anne added: “Khris Riddick, who was in The Rascals, did a lot of Ariana stuff and just did Snooze for SZA, he’s done really well. [Dot] da Genius was there – just amazing. Danja, who did all the Nelly Furtado stuff. Just some wicked, wicked people. Everyone got on and it was a really nice camp. It was just a lovely place to be and the music was just chef’s kiss. Really good.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Sex Pistols rocker Glen Matlock wants to collaborate with Iggy Pop again – over 40 years since they last worked with each other.
The 66-year-old bassist played on Iggy’s 1980 album ‘Soldier’ and also toured with The Stooges legend throughout 1979.
Glen would be interested in recording new music with Iggy, 76, once again and hopes to pitch a collaboration to the ‘Lust for Life’ singer.
In an interview with NME.com, he said: “I wouldn’t mind doing something with Iggy again, actually. I saw him in the States and it was great.
“I’d like to have done something with Bryan Ferry in his prime.”
Although it is unlikely that The Sex Pistols will ever step on-stage again, Glen is creatively being fulfilled by his solo music and work with Blondie.
The bass player features on Blondie’s upcoming 12th studio album and also tours with Debbie Harry and co, even joining the ‘Heart of Glass’ hitmakers on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury last weekend.
Glen – who recently released his seventh solo LP ‘Consequences Coming’ – ended up becoming a part-time member of Blondie after receiving a phone call from drummer Clem Burke whilst in the middle of cooking his dinner one evening.
He shared: “I was in the middle of doing my risotto, it was nearly ready, then the phone rang, I had a mate round so stirred it for me. I told Clem, ‘My risotto is nearly ready and you’re spoiling it, so get on with it.’
“He said, ‘We need a bass player’, I said, ‘I thought you got one’, he said, ‘It’s not working out, can you come over?’ I thought he meant in a couple of months but he said, ‘No, next week’. I said, ‘Ah, let me think’. I did overnight and I knew I should. I’ve worked with Clem on loads of things over the years – some alright, some a bit hair-brained – but we play well together and I love Blondie’s material. They’ve got a great body of work and they always seem to push the envelope somehow, slightly. They also have good basslines.”

The 76-year-old star performed some of his best-known hits – including ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Tiny Dancer’ and ‘Candle In The Wind’ – during his performance, and Elton also reflected on his “amazing journey” in the music business.
Elton told the crowd during his set: “I want to thank you for all dressing up in your costumes and your glasses and your outfits … it makes me feel so happy. Thank you for your love. And I want to thank you, also, for 52 years of amazing love and loyalty that you’ve shown me.
“It’s been an amazing journey and I’ve had the best, best time. I will never forget you. You’re in my head and my heart and my soul.

Earlier in the night, Elton confessed to being surprised to be headlining at Glastonbury.

Elton – who performed alongside Jacob Lusk, Stephen Sanchez, Brandon Flowers and Rina Sawayama – said prior to his performance: “I never thought I would ever play Glastonbury and here I am.
“It’s a very special and emotional night for me because it might be my last show ever in England, so I had better play well, and I had better entertain you, you’ve been standing there so long, and I really appreciate all the outfits and everything.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Patti LaBelle was left “hoarse” after she paid tribute to Tina Turner at the BET Awards.
The Grammy Award winner labelled the late ‘The Best’ hitmaker “simply the best” after she sang her signature song at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday (25.06.23).
The 79-year-old singer told Entertainment Tonight: “It meant no matter what voice I’m in — I’m hoarse, I have a cold — but whatever, I had to, I was giving it up for Tina Turner, ’cause she’s simply the best.
“So you heard a little tweak every now and then out there, but I love her, and I did my best.”
The news of Tina’s death was revealed in May after her long career and “unique legacy”.
A rep said: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.
“Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, in Nutbush, Tennessee, USA. She became famous in the late 60s as the singer of the band Ike Tina Turner Revue, but later she became successful worldwide as a solo artist. With her music and her inexhaustible vitality, Tina Turner thrilled millions of fans and inspired many artists of subsequent generations,” the statement continued. “Global hits like ‘What’s Love Got To Do With it,’ ‘Private Dancer’ and ‘The Best,’ more than 180 million albums sold, 12 GRAMMY Awards and over three decades of sold-out stadium tours around the world are just part of her unique legacy.”
The ‘Proud Mary’ hitmaker was honoured by a number of her fellow music legends, such as Dolly Parton.
The 77-year-old country icon posted on social media: “Now she’s rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ on to glory. Roll on Tina. We will always love you.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Becky Hill suffered a wardrobe malfunction during her Glastonbury set.
The 29-year-old pop star took to the stage of the annual Worthy Farm Festival on Sunday (26.06.23) and treated fans to performances of classic hits like ‘My Heart Goes’ and ‘Remember’ but something went wrong with her costume halfway through her set and she was heard calling for help.
Speaking live on stage, she said: “Well I seem to have a little wardrobe malfunction. It’s irritating me somewhat. Can I get this off? Sorry Glastonbury, It wouldn’t be a Becky Hill set if there wasn’t some clumsiness involved!”
The BRIT Award-winning star also explained to fans that she was “so excited” to be a part of the prestigious music festival and had “spent the price of a house” on her slot because she wanted to pull out all the stops to showcase her versatility to the crowds.

OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie C has declared that all of the Spice Girls want to play Glastonbury.
The 49-year-old pop star is best known as part of the legendary pop band alongside Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham but has had a successful solo career in her own right since then and after taking to the stage at the annual Worthy Farm festival on Saturday (24.05.23), insisted that all of her bandmates would like the chance to play at the prestigious music event.
Speaking on BBC Radio 6, she said: “All of the Spice Girls would like to play Glasto, that is the truth. Like I said to the audience [on Saturday night], doing a couple of Spice Girls songs, ‘a bit of a warm-up for next year?’ They’re rehearsed, they know the words, they’re ready. So, if I can drag the other girls along… I say ‘drag’ the other girls along – all of the Spice Girls would like to play Glasto, that is the truth. It’s just getting it together, the timing being right.”
The ‘Never Be the Same Again’ hitmaker scored a string of number one singles like ‘Wannabe’ and ‘Viva Forever’ as part of the world’s best-selling girl band during their heyday in the late 1990s and the girls initially reunited in 2007 for a world tour before getting back together again – with the exception of Victoria – for a UK stadium tour in 2019 and Melanie admitted that while some of the band have not performed “in years”, they regard the chance to headline Glastonbury as the “ultimate bucket list” tick.
She added: “And it’s quite daunting, some of the girls haven’t been up on stage for years. But I think it’s, we call it [playing Glastonbury] the bucket list, because as an artist it really is the ultimate.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa was having a dinner party when fans thought she would be performing with Sir Elton John at Glastonbury.
The 27-year-old pop star had been widely rumoured to be sharing the stage with ‘Your Song’ legend Elton, 76, in what had been billed as his last-ever UK performance on Sunday (25.06.23) evening for a rendition of their track ‘Cold Heart’ at the Worthy Farm festival but did not appear and took to social media shortly after to reveal that she was in fact hosting a get-together with family and friends whilst the event took place.
Alongside a snap of herself with a friend and various photos of the evening, she wrote on Instagram: “cooking for my friends and fam. [heart emoji]”(sic)
The ‘Levitating’ songstress later showed her support for Elton as she captioned a video of him performing their song with a string of heart emojis, whilst Elton told the audience that “sadly” Dua was not at the show and instead asked the crowd of thousands to perform her part as he played the piano.
During the two-hour set, Elton performed hits such as ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Tiny Dancer’ and ‘Candle In The Wind’ and also reflected on his “amazing journey” in the music business.

The 24-year-old singer has recently signed up to do video game live streaming on social networking platform Twitch and explained that she feels like the title character of the classic Disney Channel series ‘Hannah Montana’ – which followed the adventures of Miley Cyrus as a schoolgirl who had a secret identity as a pop star – as she continues to make music but is unsure how the logistics of her new hobby will work when she is on tour.
Speaking during a live stream, she said: “I still make music, I have an album coming out in September but I’ve always been friends with people who are moreso in this world. My brother has had a setup since he was nine and I’ve never fully gotten into it but I’ve sat on the computer, played games and enjoyed it. It was something I wanted to try and as much as I love making music, it’s fun and I’ve only done two weeks of streams.
“It’s not really taking away from the days. It’s sort of just, you know, I am not free at night when I’m doing this but I still feel like I’m trying to be… You know, like… sort of Hannah Montana living both lives at the same time. It’s been working out well, they haven’t been conflicting too much so but when I’m on tour and stuff I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”
The ‘Reckless’ hitmaker – whose upcoming album ‘Silence Between Song’ will be released on September 15 – went on to add that she now has an “understanding” with her loyal fans and is still able to live a “very normal life” despite initially feeling a “pressure” when she first became famous.
“I would say that at a music festival like Coachella for example, that’s where everyone is performing on the stage. Festivals and stuff, you see everyone. I’ve definitely made friends with people on that side of the world. Because I’ve had a lot of the same fans for 10 years now, there is an understanding between us. I feel like we have a really strong understanding and connection, we have created a really good back-and-forth between us. I used to feel a lot of pressure, for sure, but now I’m just like ‘This is me, and if you like it then great, but if not, that’s also fine.’

OHMYGOSSIP — Busta Rhymes “never wanted” to be a solo artist.
The 51-year-old rap star – who has six children from various relationships – had been a member of Leaders of the New School alongside Charlie Brown, Cut Monitor Milo, and Dinco D from the late 1980s until the early 1990s when he found himself suddenly out of work when they split and did not initially want to be a solo artist because he was “scared” but ended up getting his foot back in the door by taking weed into the studios.
As he was honoured with the BET Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday (25.06.23), he said: “I was scared when Leaders of the New School broke up because I ain’t’ never wanted to be a solo MC. I didn’t like the responsibility of making a full song. I’m good with getting to the 16 bars, busting everybody’s a** and getting up out of there. So I got kicked out the group and I was scared, this was 1993 and I didn’t put out a solo album until 1996 and I was trying to figure out what I had to do to feed my oldest child.
“So, the scenario had me hot in the street at the time and I thought I would use that to my advantage. I knew all of the receptionists that worked at the studios, and I would call them — ‘Who’s working in there tonight?’ And they would tell me, and I would go to this little weed spot. So I would go to this location that I will not disclose and I would get this slow burning cigar called White Owl Cigars and I would call these studios to find out who was in them. I would just pop up because I knew they were gonna be happy to see me anyway. So, I’d pull up to the studio and act like I had been working in the studios the night before and had left something. So this was my way of finding out how to feed my son. When they kicked me out, I couldn’t do these shows and get the show money no more.
The ‘Gimme Some More’ hitmaker – whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr – added that everything that his on-stage persona embodies comes from both his heritage and having the chutzpah to “whip up a 16-bar verse” whilst his weed was being passed around the studio.
He added:”Everything that Busta Rhymes embodies as far as going to get it and not taking no for an answer comes from being a Caribbean raised in a Jamaican home and the same determination as the group when we wanted to go on. We wanted it so bad, we did everything to get on.
“But with that point being said, when my weed was going round that studio, I would quickly whip up a 16 bar verse before that weed came back to me.”
