OHMYGOSSIP — Judas Priest have replaced Ozzy Osbourne at Power Trip festival.
The Black Sabbath frontman, 74, announced earlier this week he had made the “painful” decision to cancel his gig at the three day heavy metal extravaganza at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
Now, his friends have stepped in to take his spot on October 7 alongside AC/DC.
Alongside the new poster, organisers said: “Welcome @judaspriest to Power Trip.”
The band added in a statement: “Are you ready for some Judas Priest style heavy metal!!
“We are excited and ready to raise double horns way up high together keeping the metal faith at this bostin one of a kind Power Trip world event! (sic)”
The current line-up also features Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Tool and AC/DC.
In a statement on Monday (10.07.23), Ozzy said: “As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October.
“My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.
“Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-a****.”
The rocker has promised fans would “not be disappointed” with his replacement.
He continued: “I can promise that you will not be disappointed.
“Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support. I love you all and I will see you soon. God Bless, Ozzy.”
Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, but did not share his diagnosis with fans until he suffered a nasty fall in a “pitch-black” bathroom.
The rocker recently told The Observer the condition had grown so bad it had left him feeling as if he was “walking around in lead boots”, adding: “You think you’re lifting your feet, but your foot doesn’t move.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nova Twins want to “help other artists” like Sir Elton John and Tom Morello have done for them.
The alternative duo – who are making waves with their unique sound combining elements of rock, punk and hip hop – have already received support from the ‘Rocket Man’ legend and Rage Against The Machine guitarist, and they want to pass it on.
Bassist Georgia South told NME: “We’re just super grateful for the artists that have supported us over the years.
“It’s been incredible hearing their stories and getting advice from them. We always try to help other artists in the same way that other artists helped us…
“It’s not about being like ‘Who’s the best band?’ or whatever, it’s about working together as a unit and just creating music for everyone.”
Vocalist and guitarist Amy Love pointed out that bands should try to avoid jealousy or getting too bogged down in competiting with other artists.
She added: “It’s very easy for bands to look at other bands and be like, ‘Oh, how come they’ve got this?’
“It’s not about that, it’s just about really taking your moment and just enjoying what you’re doing and celebrating your peers as well for their wins.
“Especially in alt and rock music, we always get kind of sidelined. [But] rock is such a huge, huge influence on festivals in general or live music in general.”
Meanwhile, the duo already have some ideas for the follow-up to 2022 album ‘Supernova’ – which was their second full length record, although they think of it as their debut – but they want to take time to life their lives.
Amy explained: “We’ve definitely got some stuff cooking.
“We’re really excited about writing new music, [however] it’s really important sometimes to go away, do gigs and live your life so you’ve got something to write about. I think we’ve been doing that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — MONSTA X rapper Joohoney will begin his compulsory military service later this month.
The 28-year-old K-pop star has announced the date of his military enlistment in a handwritten letter to fans on the band’s official fan cafe website, and confirmed he will begin service on July 24.
Explaining his decision to share the news so close to that date, he wrote: “Because the time I spend together with Monbebes [MONSTA X’s fandom] and the MONSTA X members are so precious and happy for me, I wanted to spend this time more fully with all of you.
“I’m not leaving forever, so please don’t worry about me, and please promise to look at the sky every day and recall the things I said and think about Joohoney at least once a day.”
Under South Korean law, all able-bodied men have to serve a military term of between 18 and 21 months.
Joohoney described the situation as a “temporary comma” and vowed to be back with “more good things” for his fans.
He continued: “After I come back, I’ll show you more good things.
“Like I said, I think of this time as a comma for us. It’s not a period, but just a temporary comma that is leading to what lies next.“
The rapper will become the third member of MONSTA X to enlist, following on from Shownu and Minhyuk.
The announcement and his upcoming service comes after he made his solo debut with mini album ‘Lights’, and single ‘Freedom’ in April.
Speaking about the song, he previously told Billboard: “I want other idols to be comfortable with sharing about their hard times and able to express themselves confidently through their music in the future.
“I think that Korean artists and trainees can sometimes feel a bit restricted due to their companies and the different rules that they might have to follow.
“So, now, after I’ve grown and matured, I’ve been able to find myself and can express myself more freely now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anitta has had lube thrown at her on stage.
The Brazilian pop star has opened up after a recent trend has seen a number of singers subjected to people throwing objects at them during live performances, and she’s had her own X-rated experiences.
Asked about the wildest item a fan has thrown on stage, she told ‘Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen’: “I think… a toy? Or lube!”
The talk show host asked the 30-year-old star several racy questions after being told he could quiz her on anything he wanted.
Anitta admitted she has hooked up with fans in the past, and would even enlist the help of her friends to bring people backstage if they caught her eye during a show.
She recalled: “I have this micrphone so when I’m single, when I have my friends with me in the concert, we always see the hot guys, I’m like, ‘Get the one with the shirt!’
“I used to be crazy, nowadays I’m chilling!”
She also revealed her experiences with multiple partners in the bedroom, noting that an ex – who she was with for “some months” – would organise the sessions with other couples.
Asked if she’s had a threesome, she replied: “Yes! Three, four, five, six! I had a boyfriend that used to love to have couples together… Everyone does your own thing and then you change.”
Meanwhile, Anitta was quizzed on who she thinks is “the hottest male pop star in the game” currently, but she insisted right now there aren’t too many.

OHMYGOSSIP — Britpop legend Damon Albarn is working on an opera.
The Blur and Gorillaz star has revealed he’s putting 1807’s ‘The Magic Flute Part II’ by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the sequel to Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’, to music for the first time.
The 1791 original was an opera in two acts to a German libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder.
Damon, 55, told the ‘Broken Record’ podcast: “I’m doing an opera at the moment, using Goethe’s fragment he wrote about The Magic Flute Part II, which is fascinating.
“You’ve heard of Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’?
“Well, Goethe, who is a contemporary of Mozart, wrote ‘Part II’ of that — the sequel — but it never got put to music.
“It’s this legendary lost thing.”
However, the ‘Parklife’ hitmaker admits he has no idea what he’s doing and feels like an “idiot”.
He added: “I don’t really know what I’m doing.
“I never know what I’m doing in that world, I’m a complete idiot.
“I don’t know if it’s any good.
“With songs, I’m more confident about that.”
A new Gorillaz album is also in the works.
However, it will have a completely new sound , with the animated band started by Damon and illustrator Jamie Hewlett switching things up on the follow-up to 2023’s ‘Cracker Island’ in a bid to keep the group “alive”.
He spilled: “I’ve done a few tunes.
“It’s not going to be as dramatic as a quantum shift, it will be a paradigm shift, it will be very different.
“It will be an entirely different approach to everything — to the band, to everything.
“We’re at a point where we’re going to change.
“Why? Because it was always just Jamie and I.
“Although it is a very big thing now, it is still, in essence, just two people.
“If we decided between us that we want to do something unrecognisable then we will.
“You need that for it to stay alive, really.”
Damon recently reunited with Blur for a string of headline dates – including two sold-out concerts at Wembley Stadium – for the first time since 2015, and they are set to release the LP ‘The Ballad of Darren’ on July 21, their first since ‘The Magic Whip’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey “seriously” considered quitting music after feeling like a “failure”.
The ‘Say Yes To Heaven’ singer – who just headlined American Express presents BST Hyde Park in London over the weekend following a controversial set at Glastonbury last month – admitted she “had no other choice” but to keep making music even in moments of self doubt.
She told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “I never forget the abyss, those moments when nothing worked, where I was seriously considering quitting. There really was a feeling of failure.
“I had no other choice than to continue, because I don’t know how to do anything else. Courage would have been to disappear.
“But as I was already famous, I took the easy was out. I continued to make records. There was no plans B.”
The 38-year-old star also heaped praise on the likes of Billie Eilish – who she hailed as a “good person” and “divinely talented” – for expressing themselves through their music.
She added: “In pop music, women finally have the right to express themselves, their experiences.
“What I was doing at the start – they would have been crucified for doing before. But I am very specific. And that’s the key to universality.
“I don’t care if I play the wrong role, [don’t] comply with what is expected of a pop singer. What I want is to stay true to the exact moment the music comes to me.”
On Sunday (09.07.23), Lana joked about her Glastonbury experience when she was late on stage which led to her mic get unplugged to meet the strict Worthy Farm curfew.
While performing ‘Candy Necklace’ perched atop a golden grand piano, she told the 60,000-strong BST crowd: “I think this is where I got cut off last time. Sorry about that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Hozier has been trying his songs out on TikTok before releasing them.
The ‘Take Me To Church’ hitmaker recently dropped new tune ‘Unknown / Nth’, but he first released a demo on the short-form video hosting service to see what the reaction would be, and he was pleased to receive a “strong” response.
He told Attitude magazine: “I put up a video just playing the first two verses and a chorus from it.
“The response to it was quite strong, I always wanted to share this sooner rather than later, I felt like there was an appreciation for it.
“It is nice, in that regard, to get to hand it over finally after there was so much love for it shown early on.
“I’m enjoying just playing it. It is a song I definitely have a real soft spot for.”
Hozier, whose new album ‘Unreal Unearth’ will drop on August 18th, also admitted he is in talks with Ethel Cain about a potential future collaboration.
He said: “An artist I was in touch with recently and would love to work with is Ethel Cain. I’m very, very excited about her work.
“We touched base recently, we just picked up contact. I’d love to do some shows with Ethel … maybe write a song.”
The star is fresh from playing a secret set at Glastonbury Festival last month, and he believes crowds have a “recharged sense of appreciation” for live shows nowadays following the coronavirus pandemic.
He added: “We spent so much time in quiet and away from shows, I get a sense from crowds and the festivals that I have played, doing Glastonbury, for example, there’s a kind of a new appreciation, a renewed, recharged sense of appreciation and enjoyment.
“It’s so easy to take these kind of large scale events for granted. It’s nice to feel the energy of the crowd again.”

The 31-year-old singer – who is part of the star studded tracklist for ‘Barbie The Album’ alongside the likes of Billie Eilish and Nicki Minaj – has recorded new track ‘Man I Am’ for the collection.
They said on Instagram: “I cannot begin to express how incredibly excited I am to be a part of the soundtrack to this already iconic film.
“I was invited by the incredible @iammarkronson and Greta Gerwig to write a song from the perspective of Ken for one of the scenes and we honestly had so much fun with this.
“I cannot wait for you to hear what we’ve created together. Barbie Land here we come!!!!”
Dua Lipa’s ‘Dance the Night’, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s ‘Barbie World’ collaboration and Charli XCX’s ‘Speed Drive’ also feature on the album.
On Monday (10.07.23), Billie Eilish teased a snippet of her piano-backed song ‘What Was I Made For?’, which she recently admitted the track is a real tearjerker.
She wrote on Instagram last week : “We made this song for Barbie and it means the absolute worrrrllld to me.
“This movie is gonna change ur lives and hopefully this song will too. Get ready to sob. (sic)
Ryan Gosling also performs ‘I’m Just Ken’ – written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt – in the movie and on the soundtrack with Guns N’ Roses legend Slash lending his guitar skills.
Ronson told Variety: “Slash is my hero. I grew up, I was like seventh grade when ‘Appetite For Destruction’ came out. He’s my all-time hero, I had pictures of Slash all over my wall.
“When we were getting this song odne i was like… it never hurts to ask! It seems like such a longshot!
“I sent him the song and he was like, ‘This is a good song’. I didn’t know Slash that well before this, and he was like, ‘Cool, I’ll play on it.’
“He killed it, and he plays the solo at the end and the rhythm parts. It’s wonderful.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Joel has given his blessing to Fall Out Boy for their cover of ‘We Didn’t Start A Fire’.
The ‘Sugar We’re Going Down’ rockers recently released a modern day update of his 1989 hit – which famously recapped key moments in history over the previous 40 years – as they referenced events and pop culture giants like ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Twilight’, MySpace, the Cambridge Analytica scandal and Woodstock ’99.
Appearing on BBC Radio 2’s ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’, he told the host: “Everybody’s been wanting to know when there’s going to be an updated version of it, because my song started in ’49 and ended in ’89 — it was a 40 year span.
“Everybody said, ‘Well, aren’t you going to do a part two?’ I said, ‘Nah, I’ve already done part one.’
“So, Fall Our Boy, go ahead. Great, take it away.”
FOB singer Patrick Stump might want to take heed if the band start performing their version life after Billy admitted even he struggles with the lyrics sometimes.
He added: “Well sometimes I’m watching people singing along, hoping they’ll guide me. Because you get one word wrong, it’s a train wreck.
“Which happened to me – I was in Toronto and I forgot the words, and then I just stopped the song. ‘Stop the music!’ And the crowd made this noise like, ‘Argh!’
“So, it’s walking on a tightrope with that thing!”
In a statement, the band previously explained their thinking behind putting their own spin on the classic track.
They said: “I thought about this song a lot when I was younger.
“All these important people and events – some that disappeared into the sands of time – others that changed the world forever.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rina Sawayama has urged people to apologise “without making it about your f****** self”.
The ‘STFU’ singer addressed the crowd at the end of the track midway through her performance at NOS Alive festival in Lisbon and called out people for making racist and sexist comments without apologising.
With the intro of ‘Break Stuff’ by Limp Bizkit started to play in the background, she said: “So I was thinking a lot about apologies.
“It’s just funny how some people get away with not apologising ever… For saying some racist s***. For saying some sexist s***.
“So let’s try this. Why don’t you apologise for once in your life without making it about your f****** self?”
Rina, 32, did not specify who she was talking about on stage.
Last month, she appeared to call out The 1975 star Matty Healy – who has come under fire this year, including for laughing at derogatory comments made about Ice Spice on a podcast – before a performance of ‘STFU’ at Glastonbury.
Taking to the stage at Worthy Farm – without naming names – Rina said: “This is dedicated to the white man who watches Ghetto Gaggers (porn), mocks Asian people on a podcast and owns my masters. I’ve had enough.”
Rina is signed to Dirty Hit, the same label as The 1975, while Matty was a director of the label until recently.
Earlier this month, Matty, 34, appeared to take accountability for some past comments during his band’s performance at Finsbury Park.
He said: “The 1975 isn’t a dry band. There’s a lot of irony in it. Like, ‘Love Me’, for example, it doesn’t make sense unless I’m taking the p*** out of myself.
“I was always, like, trying stuff. And some stuff I got right and some stuff I got wrong. But, do you know what?
“There’s a lot of things I’ve said, jokes that I’ve made, you know what, there’s probably a couple of f****** songs I’d take back if I had the chance.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Crosby’s final band has announced a special concert in his memory.
The folk rock legend died in January aged 81 after a long illness just weeks before he was due to perform a set of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young tracks at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara, California to mark the venue’s 150th birthday.
Now, it has been confirmed the band he assembled for the gig – which was originally scheduled for February 22 – will come together on August 20 to play the same setlist he put together for the original concert.
The group will be known as Stand And Be Counted – named after the classic CSNY song – is made up of Steve Postell, Steve Distanislao, Dean Parks, Andrew Ford, Lara Johnston and Ken Stacey.
Completing the lineup are Chris Stills, son of Stephen Stills, and Crosby’s own son James Raymond, while Shawn Colvin will join them on stage as a special guest.
In listing on the Lobero Theatre website reads: “The Lobero’s anniversary season continues with a celebration honoring music icon David Crosby – one of Santa Barbara’s most noted artists and rock ‘n roll royalty.
“The concert features the last band David assembled, playing the set list he crafted for the Lobero’s 150th birthday on February 22, 2023.
“That band, now called Stand and Be Counted, is a who’s who list of rock talent featuring Steve Postell, James Raymond, Stevie Distanislao, Dean Parks, Chris Stills, Andrew Ford, and Lara Johnston.”
Over their respective careers, the musicians have worked with eveyrone from the Ryan Adams, Whitney Houston and Don Henley to Sir Elton John, the Spice Girls and Michael Jackson.
Tickets are not on sale yet, but will be priced at $131 and $81, with a VIP meet and greet ticket – including “an exclusive post show reception with the artists and premium seating” – costing $231.

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Shiflett has announced plans for his third solo album, ‘Lost At Sea’.
The Foo Fighters guitarist is a singer songwriter in his own right and he’s set to release his new record on October 20, having dropped his latest single ‘Damage Control’ on Wednesday (12.07.23).
In a statement, he said: “We made a guitar-centric record that encapsulates everything I’ve been listening to over the years, from the most country songs I’ve ever recorded to punk rock and even songs that sound like a California version of The Clash.”
The 52-year-old musician has already released tracks ‘Dead And Gone’ and ‘Black Top White Lines’ from the album.
As well as the new video – which features fan footage from Chris’ recent tour of the UK – he has confirmed that fans will be able to preorder the LP this week.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, he wrote: “Tomorrow!! info coming soon! we have some nice bundles and what not. (sic)”
Meanwhile, Chris has also teased the possibility of some UK shows in 2024 after a fan shared screenshots of himself in the ‘Damage Control’ video.
The fan wrote: “I am the second main attraction of @ChrisShiflett71 new music video ‘Damage Control’. I’ve been analysing it in slow motion for a quite a while now.
“Apologies Chris for the potentially creepy eye contact throughout your London show. I believe you owe me a sausage roll? (sic)”
The star coyly replied: “I’m gonna have to buy a lot of sausage rolls next time we’re over!!! (which btw could be next march… shhhhhh)”
Chris was recently in the UK alongside his Foo Fighters bandmates as Dave Grohl and the group played a secret set on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.
Although they were billed as mystery act The Churnups, a number of clues leading up to the festival had led to many fans correctly guessing the identity of the unknown band.

OHMYGOSSIP — Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lauryn Hill will headline the 2023 Global Citizen Festival.
The acts will be joined by the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Conan Gray and Stray Kids when the free, ticketed, event returns to the Great Lawn of Central Park in New York City on 23 September.
The festival is part of the advocacy organisation’s efforts to drive urgent action to end extreme poverty now and looks at the issues behind why more people than ever are living in dire straits, including the impacts of climate change, inequalities affecting women and girls across the world, and the global hunger crisis.
Tickets to the event are free and can be earned by joining the movement and taking action on the Global Citizen app or website on various issues connected to the campaign.
Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Citizen said in a statement: “COP27, this year’s G7, the World Bank Spring Meetings and the Paris climate finance summit all failed to deliver tangible results, or disruption of the world’s unjust systems.
“But complacency can’t win. If we want to see breakthroughs on development and climate change, we need the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and all G7 nations to meet the urgency of the hour.
“Every single citizen has a vital role to play, and together, we must be laser-focused on driving results and impact in September.”
Last year’s festival in New York City saw the likes of Metallica, Mariah Carey, Jonas Brothers, MANESKIN and Charlie Puth take to the stage, while in Accra, Ghana, Usher, SZA, Stormzy and H.E.R. were among the artists who performed in the iconic Black Star Square.

OHMYGOSSIP — Grammy-winning rapper-and-singer Nelly has reportedly sold 50 per cent of his solo music catalogue for a whopping $50 million, according to TMZ.
The 48-year-old star – whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. – agreed to the mega-deal with HarbourView Equity Partners, founded by Sherrese Clarke Soares.
It includes select hits such as ‘Ride Wit Me’, ‘Dilemma’ featuring Kelly Rowland – which sold more than 7.6 million records worldwide – and ‘Hot in Herre’.
Nelly said in a statement: “As artists, we put our heart and soul into each track and there comes a time when you consider preservation of that artistry. My music is my legacy which I want to last beyond me, continuing to make my existing fans happy while reaching new generations and new audiences. I am excited to partner with HarbourView to create opportunities for discovery of my music decades from now.”
Soares added: “This catalog has made an incredible impact on generations of fans. Works such as, ‘Hot in Herre’ and ‘Shake Ya Tailfeather’ defined an era of music of a unique blend of hip-hop, R’n’B, and country music that is undeniable. OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne has been in the studio with rapper Ty Dolla $ign.
The former One Direction star has previously joined forces with rappers A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Quavo and J Balvin on his 2019 debut solo album, ‘LP1’, and he’s said to be planning to drop new music before he hits the road in September.
However, his second album is “still being worked out”.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Liam hit the studio with Ty towards the end of spring and they managed to record a number of tracks. The pair got on really well and have been in touch ever since.
“New music will come before his tour kicks off in September but in terms of an album, things are still being worked out. It might even be that the songs end up on one of Ty’s projects, if released at all.”
The ‘Strip That Down’ hitmaker’s hip-hop and R’n’B-orientated first album reached number 17 in the Official UK Album Chart.
Meanwhile, Liam and former 1D bandmate Zayn recently appeared to put the past behind them after the former praised the latter’s new music preview.
After Zayn, 30, teased his solo comeback single – which is due out this summer – on Instagram, Liam, 29, praised what he heard in the comments.
He wrote: “This sounds big already,” to which Zayn replied: “Appreciate it bro, thanks for the love.”
The rare interaction between the pair caused them to trend on Twitter.
During a controversial interview with Logan Paul last year, Liam claimed there are “many reasons” why he doesn’t like Zayn.
He said: “There’s many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there’s many reasons why I’ll always, always be on his side.”
He later claimed he “didn’t leave the house for three months” following the backlash over the interview.
Liam also claimed One Direction was formed around him and that he had outsold all their solo efforts with his own debut single.
And he admitted the way fans “turned on” him led him down a dark path.
He wrote on his Instagram Story: “It got quite dark for me for one point when you guys turned on me. I didn’t leave the house for 3 months.(sic)”
Liam – who has six-year-old son Bear with former Girls Aloud star Cheryl, 40 – admitted he had other issues going on at the time but he’s glad to have turned a corner.
He continued: “You guys know I’m sorry about all that stuff I love my boys not sure what was going on with me other than I had a problem with me and I took it out on everyone else…
“Never had a bigger chip on my shoulder and I’m really glad to lose it.

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Journey rhythm guitarist and co-writer George Tickner has died at 76.
The rocker’s passing was confirmed by his former bandmate Neal Schon.
The musician contributed to the legendary American rock group’s first three albums – starting with 1975’s self-titled – after being hired by manager Herbie Herbert – who died in October 2021 aged 73.
Neal wrote on Facebook: “Rest peacefully, Dr. George Tickner. You will be missed immensely.
“Herbie’s waiting to greet you.”
Lead guitarist Neal took over his guitar duties until Jonathan Cain joined in 1981.
In January 2005, George appeared with past and present members of the ‘Don’t Stop Believin” band to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
After leaving Journey, George teamed up with Ross Valory – the group’s original bassist – on The Hive, a recording space where he continued to write music.
The pair were later joined by keyboardist Stevie ‘Keys’ Roseman in the band VTR, and they released the album ‘Cinema’ in 2005, with other Journey stars including Neal, Steve Smith, and Prairie Prince.
George left before all the drama started among various band members.
The group has had a number of legal fallouts in recent years.
Earlier this year, former member Steve Perry dropped his lawsuit against his ex-bandmates.
The musician – who was lead singer of the rock band from 1977 to 1987, and again from 1995 to 1998, and co-wrote many of their hits – filed a lawsuit against Neal and Jonathan in September, regarding the trademarks of 20 of their biggest hits and their use of them on merchandise.
He accused the pair of “fraud on the trademark office”, and claimed they failed to ask for his consent to use the trademarks.
However, he later withdrew the case.
And Neal filed a cease and desist against Jonathan for performing at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago.
The lead guitarist was not impressed, to say the least when the keyboardist performed ‘Don’t Stop Believin” at the former President’s Florida resort in November, because Journey “is not, and should not be, political.”
Cain – whose wife Paula White-Cain was a spiritual advisor to Trump – was accused by his bandmate of “unauthorised affiliation of Journey” with Trump’s politics.
Neal claimed it had resulted in “irreparable harm” to the group’s brand and “earning potential”.
Jonathan hit back and accused his bandmate of lying.
He responded: “Schon is just frustrated that he keeps losing in court and is now falsely claiming the song has been used at political rallies.”
Back in March 2020, Journey fired longtime bassist Ross and drummer Steve Smith for an alleged “malicious and very ill-conceived” coup attempt to gain control of the band’s copyright from Neal and Jonathan.
Ross – who was also fired by the band in 1985 and replaced by Randy Jackson – and Steve later countersued.
