OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has broken two new records, including becoming the first female artist to have four albums chart in the Billboard Top 10, simultaneously.
Following the release of ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’, the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer has become the first artist to have four albums in the top 10 since Herb Alpert in 1966.
The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker’s re-record has hit number one in the US chart, shifting 716,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 13.
Late ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker Prince is the one to beat, as he had five albums in the top 10 by May 2016, following his passing aged 57, the month prior.
Taylor, 33, has also become the female star with the most number one albums, with the LP being her 12th No1 in the US, beating music veteran Barbra Streisand, 81, who had 11.
Taylor has the same amount of number one albums as 36-year-old rapper Drake.
The Beatles hold that record with 19, followed by 53-year-old rap mogul Jay-Z’s 14.
In the UK, Taylor outsold the entire Top 10 with ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’.
Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams appear on the re-record of Taylor’s 2010 LP.
Patrick Stump and co feature on ‘Electric Touch’ (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)’, while the Paramore singer appears on ‘Castles Crumbling’ (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)’.
The ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker has long been a fan of pop punk titans Fall Out Boy and previously shared how her hit ‘Blank Space’ was inspired by the ‘Dance, Dance’ hitmakers.
Taylor told her millions of followers: “Since ‘Speak Now’ was all about my songwriting, I decided to go to the artists who I feel influenced me most powerfully as a lyricist at that time and ask them to sing on the album. They’re so cool and generous for agreeing to support my version of ‘Speak Now’. I recorded this album when I was 32 (and still growing up, now) and can’t wait to unveil it all to you on July 7th.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton would rather “drop dead” onstage than ever retire from music.
The country music icon, 77, has vowed to continue working until the very end, as long as she and her longtime husband, Carl Thomas Dean, 80, are in “good” health.
Dolly recently told Ken Bruce on Greatest Hits Radio: “I’m not one to sit around doin’ nothin’. I would never retire. I’ll just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song onstage someday, hopefully, one I’ve written.”
She continued: “But anyhow, that’s how I hope to go, we don’t have much of a choice in that but as long as I’m able to work, as long as my health is good and my husband is good, the only way that I would ever slow down or stop would be for that reason. But in the meantime, I’m going to make hay while the sun shines.”
Asked the same question by Us Weekly earlier this year, she replied: “I don’t think I could retire if I wanted to. Cause I’ve dreamed myself into a corner, as I say. Cause all these wonderful things keep happening and you gotta keep the dream alive.
“Since I love to work, I always say I’ll just work. ‘I’m gonna make hay while the sun shines,’ is the old saying. So, I’m gonna do that until I can’t do it anymore.”
The musician has released 65 studio albums since beginning her career in the late 1960s and is known around the world for country hits like ‘Jolene’ and ‘9 to 5’ but switched genres with her latest record, ‘Rockstar’.
She recently told The Sunday People’s Love Sunday magazine: ‘Rockstar’ is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done. I feel like a rock star! I wanted to see what I could do and I had to work hard to keep up.”
The ‘Islands in the Stream’ songstress has been married to Carl since 1966 and went on to add that her husband has served as the inspiration for the project so she wanted to “please him” more than anyone else.
She added: “All my life – in the car, in the truck, on the tractor or in the house, he’ll always blast out rock’n’roll music,” “I sat him down to listen to the whole thing and he said ‘it’s really good’. He’s kind of a quiet person, so to me, that was like somebody else jumping up and down saying it was the best thing they ever heard. He was proud of it, so that made me feel good. I wanted to please him more than anybody else.”
The ‘Backwoods Barbie’ singer covered a number of classics such as The Beatles’ ‘Let It Be’ with surviving members Sirs Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and Queen’s ‘We Are the Champions’ for the record.
Dolly even teamed up with goddaughter Miley Cyrus, 30, to produce a rock version of her 2013 single ‘Wrecking Ball’ for the record as she described the ‘Jaded’ hitmaker as being “like a daughter or sister” to her.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. Dre refused to work with his “heroes” the late Michael Jackson and Prince.
The 58-year-old studio wizard has been offered the chance to work with a whole host of music greats over the years, including the King of Pop and the ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker, and more recently, Stevie Wonder, but he says working with his idols wouldn’t be a good idea.
Just recently, pals Dre, Springsteen, 73, and Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, 81, were seen having dinner together at The River Café in Hammersmith, England, after The Boss performed at BST Hyde Park.
Speaking to comedy actor Kevin Hart on his ‘Hart to Heart’ show, Dre explained: “They just asked me to work with them and I just was like, ‘What the f*** am I going to do with them?’
“Those are my f***ing heroes.”
He went on: “The way I feel about Stevie, Prince, Michael, Bruce Springsteen and all of these amazing artists could change by working with them.”
He added: “These are my f***ing heroes. … I like the idea of what I grew up listening to and I want to keep it like that. And I don’t want to f*** up that idea and that look.”
The hip-hop legend is responsible for helping to launch the careers of rappers Eminem and Snoop Dogg and has produced records for The Game, Kendrick Lamar, and Anderson .Paak.

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex James has insisted Blur’s children are much more rock ‘n’ roll than the Britpop legends.
The ‘Song 2’ bassist – who once claimed to have spend “a million pounds on drugs and booze” but now makes cheese on his Cotswolds farm – joked that their collective offspring have much wilder parties with their friends.
He told the ‘Parenting Hell’ podcast: “I kind of made it up and everyone believe it. But that is coming back to haunt me now.
“I think 16th birthdays are the worst of them all, all the years of rock ‘n’ roll, nothing can hold a candle to those parties when you’re like 16, rock ‘n’ roll had nothing on that actually!
“At 16, you’re in the speedboat and you want to know how fast it goes, and by the time you’re 18 you’ve kind of worked out where your limits are a little bit.”
The dad-of-five admitted he tries to convince his kids to have their parties at the annual Big Feastival event on his farm.
He joked: “I always try and get them to have their 16th birthdays at Feastival so that the liabilities are not mine! It’s terrifying, it is really terrifying.”
Blur are preparing to release new album ‘The Ballad of Darren’ this week after reuniting for two sold out Wembley shows earlier this month.
However, being back in the band has been something of a holiday for Alex, who described it as “relaxing” compared to life as a parent.
He quipped: “Playing the bass in a rock band is the easiest thing, compared to parenting.
“It actually is relaxing going back into that Blur bubble.”
He recently admitted the adjustment between the two very different lifestyles can be tricky.
He told Red magazine: “The last time I went away, I dropped the kids at school and flew to Mexico City, where there were thousands of people waiting for us at the airport and hotel.
“When we got to the venue –a stadium – it was huge.
“But afterwards, you get home and you have to wash up and the kids are like, ‘Dad, stop being a w*****.’ “

OHMYGOSSIP — Miranda Lambert paused a concert to hit out at some fans who were taking a selfie, telling them: “It’s p****** me off a little bit.”
The 39-year-old singer has divided opinion after she stopped her performance of ‘Tin Man’ during the July 15 show of her ‘Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency’ to call out the supporters, insisting she “didn’t like” their picture-taking “at all”.
She told the audience: “I’m gonna stop right here for a second … these girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song. It’s p****** me off a little bit.
“I don’t like it, at all. We’re here to hear some country music tonight, I’m singing some country damn music.”
Miranda motioned for the selfie-loving supporters to sit down, and then asked the audience: “Shall we start again?”
Some fans cheered as she continued, but in a TikTok video of the moment, one fan could be heard saying: “Let’s go, you don’t do that to fans,” before exiting the show.
Miranda’s comments come after Bebe Rexha was hit in the face with a phone at a concert in New York last month.
She was just about to close her set during her ‘Best F’n Night Of My Life Tour’ in the Big Apple when a mobile phone was hurled through the air and hit her in the head, as seen in a video posted to Twitter.
The Twitter user captioned the post: “Absolutely great show ruined by a fan throwing their phone at @BebeRexha hopefully she is ok after that.”
The ‘Heart Wants What It Wants’ hitmaker was seen dropping to her knees while clutching her face as stage hands rushed around to help her before she left the stage completely.
Days later, she returned to the stage at The Fillmore in Philadelphia for the first time since the incident in New York.
In a video shared on Instagram, she said: “Can we get someone to clean this up. I almost ate s*** like three times. I’m going to push it a little bit.
“I can’t get another bruise. Are we going to have a good show tonight? Yes we f*****’ are. Will we have people slow us down Philly? No. Just no phones on my face tonight please I beg of you. Thank you Philly.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Combs is glad to be helping Tracy Chapman reach “new milestones”.
The ‘Fast Car’ hitmaker recently topped the charts after giving the the folk singer’s 1988 classic a country twist, and Tracy recently admitted she was “honoured” by the song’s new lease of life.
Speaking to Billboard, Luke responded: “I have played it in my live show now for six-plus years and everyone — I mean everyone — across all these stadiums relates to this song and sings along.
“That’s the gift of a supernatural song writer. The success of my cover is unreal and I think it’s so cool that Tracy is getting recognised and has reached new milestones.
“I love that she is out there feeling all the love and that she gave me a shout-out! Thank you, Tracy!”
He admitted the success of his cover has “surprised him more than you can imagine”, but it’s a song he’s carried with him for a long time.
He added: “Tracy Chapman wrote this perfect song that that I first heard with my dad and it has stayed with me since.
Earlier this month, Tracy herself admitted she “never expected” the turn of events, but she’s delighted for Luke’s success.
She told the same outlet: “I never expected to find myself on the country charts, but I’m honored to be there.
“I’m happy for Luke and his success and grateful that new fans have found and embraced ‘Fast Car.’ ”
Over the weekend, the 33-year-old star told fans in Charlotte, North Carolina that Tracy “sparked” his passion for music as a youngster.
He said: “I remember riding around in a 1989 Ford F-150 with a campertop on it. It was brown and the campertop was tan.
“My dad had a cassette tape of this album by this lady named Tracy Chapman.
“Listening to that album with my dad meant a lot to me and kind of sparked my love for music and kind of landed me where I am today.”
He then brought his father on stage and hugged him, adding: “This is for you, pop.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. Dr has insisted critics of modern hip-hop sound like “somebody’s f*****’ grandfather”.
The legendary rapper and producer has reflected on the way the genre is continually “evolving” and while he admitted it’s not to his taste, he refuses to hate on the current generation.
Speaking to actor Kevin Hart on his ‘Hart to Heart’ show, he said: “Let me tell you something. Hip-hop is what it is.
“Anybody that’s talking about the state of hip hop right now, when talking about it from a negative place, sounds like somebody’s f*****’ grandfather.
“This is just what it is. Hip-hop is evolving. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it, you know what I’m saying?”
Although the ‘Still D.R.E.’ hitmaker supports the current crop in their bid to make their own sound, he admitted he doesn’t actually listen to a lot of the contemporary artists.
He added: “I’m keepin’ it all the way 100 with you. Some of this s***, most of this s***, I don’t like.
“I don’t listen to a lot of that s***. But I’m not hatin’ on it. I’m never gonna hate on it.”
When host Kevin mentioned Kendrick Lamar – whose album ‘Damn’ became the first non-classical and non-jazz work to win a Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2018 – he was full of praise.
He said: “Kendrick Lamar is a real motherf*****’ artist, like, the true definition of the word.”
And he had a firm message for anyone disagreeing with his assessment on the current scene.
He argued: “If you don’t like it, motherf*****, do something about it.
If you don’t like what’s happening right now, are you f****** strong enough or talented enough to do something new to change it, to do something that you like?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears and will.i.am are set to release a brand new song.
The Black Eyed Peas star – who has worked with the pop icon three times before – took to Twitter to tease their new tune, which will mark Britney’s second song since her conservatorship ended.
Announcing ‘Mind Your Business’, Will shared a clip of the line from their previous hit, 2012’s ‘Scream and Shout’, where he goes: “You are now rocking with will.i.am…”
Britney adds: “And Britney, b****.”
However, a few seconds later, she adds the new lyric: “Mind your business, b****.”
Seemingly in reference to all the speculation surrounding her life and health, after the 41-year-old singer regained control of her multi-million-dollar fortune as well as various aspects of her life and career when a conservatorship arrangement governed by her family was terminated in 2021.
Will captioned the post: “UH OH!!!
“You are now NOW rocking with http://will.i.am and
@britneyspears …#MINDyourBUSINESS. (sic)”
The duo first joined forces in 2011 on ‘Big Fat Bass’ for Britney’s LP ‘Femme Fatale’, with ‘Scream and Shout’ following a year later.
The studio wizard also executive produced the ‘Lucky’ singer’s 2013 album, ‘Britney Jean’, featuring the Britney classic ‘Work Bitch’.
Will had hinted that the pair were to work together again in an interview in September.
Speaking on UK TV show ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “We’ve done cool things together, and I’m so happy that she’s on this new journey and shining. She’s still got hurdles, but you know what, we’re all there to support her. I just love her dedication and love for music. That’s just the way it is. I love how sweet she is, and how genuine she is — shy, but fierce. And I want to see her win.”
It’s her second post-conservatorship collaboration, following the star jumping on Sir Elton John’s hit ‘Hold Me Closer’ in the summer of last year.
Britney – who is married to 29-year-old fitness model Sam Asghari – has not released any solo music since the termination of her conservatorship.
In 2020, she released ‘Mood Ring’, ‘Swimming in the Stars’ and ‘Matches’ – in collaboration with fellow 1990s stars The Backstreet Boys – as part of a deluxe edition of her 2016 studio album ‘Glory’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Stormzy is set to drop new music “sooner rather than later”.
The 29-year-old rapper released his latest album ‘This Is What I Mean’ in November, and his producer PRGRSHN – who worked on the majority of the tracks, including hit ‘Hide and Seek’ – has teased some new material in the pipeline.
As quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “We’re always trying to stay creative and make new music.
“You might see him sooner rather than later, I’m not sure.”
The producer admitted Stormzy needs to be “inspired” to create.
He added: “Ultimately he’s an artist that has to be inspired so once he’s inspired there will be new music for sure.”
However, fans might not be waiting too long at all after a report earlier this year claimed he’s already been working on new material.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Stormzy isn’t resting on his laurels and has been writing and recording new songs already.
“Artistically he seems to be the strongest and most creative he has ever been.
“Stormzy has been doing some stuff at Qube studios in London.
“He registered a new track on a songwriting database earlier this month.
“The track is called ‘Fire’ and it’s been pegged as a potential hit.”
And, it is believed that Stormzy could release another album this year.
The insider added: “Those around Stormzy think the song could spawn another album.
“It is really empowering and moving – and is very much in the vein of ‘This Is What I Mean’.
“His label is really excited about what they are hearing and no one should be surprised if Stormzy strikes while the iron is hot and releases new music this year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo nearly replaced the lyric “fame f***er” from ‘vampire’.
The ‘good 4 u’ hitmaker has revealed there was a “debate” over whether or not the word “fame” is relatable to her audience, however, she explained that it’s not really about fame and has a “universal” meaning about being manipulated and sucked dry by someone.
Speaking on ‘The Julia Show’ on Audacy, she said: “It was actually a debate if ‘fame f***er’ should be in the song. Some people said, ‘It kind of isolates you from people, you can’t really say things like that in song, it’s not relatable,’ yada, yada, yada.”
She continued: “I totally get and saw where they were coming from, but eventually we decided to keep it in.
“I think the song isn’t about fame f***ing — I think it’s more about someone being manipulative and sucking you dry, using you for all you’re worth.”
Olivia added: “I think that’s a universal theme, and I also think fame is more easily accessible now than it has ever been.
“It’s not just people in LA and Hollywood that have to deal with that.”
Writing ‘vampire’ was an “out-of-body experience” for the Grammy winner.
The 20-year-old singer’s first single from her upcoming album ‘GUTS’ was produced by and co-written with Daniel Nigro, who she worked with on her 2021 album ‘Sour‘, and Olivia revealed that the song was inspired by her own feelings.
She said: “I was upset about a certain situation and went to the studio alone and sat down at the grand piano, and the chords and melody and lyrics just poured out of me — almost like an out-of-body experience.
“It’s a song about feeling confused and hurt, and at first I thought it was meant to be a piano ballad. But when Dan and I started working on it, we juxtaposed the lyrics with these big drums and crazy tempo changes. So now it’s like a heartbreak song you can dance to.”
Olivia previously revealed she relished getting to “express those feelings of rage and dirty s*** and messing s*** up” on ‘vampire’.
The ‘drivers license’ hitmaker doesn’t hold back on the furious single as she rips into an ex-lover and she loved every second of getting to air her anger.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she said: “I think I listened to a lot of heavier stuff growing up and that’s what I’ve always been drawn to. But I think in my regular day-to-day life, I don’t get to express those feelings of rage and dirty s*** and messing s*** up.
“And I think in music, you have the freedom to express feelings that you don’t get to express in your everyday life. And so I think maybe that’s why I’m so drawn to this, because I don’t get to be messy every day in daily life and work.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ringo Starr has called the upcoming “last” Beatles song “beautiful” and “moving”.
The drummer, 83, spoke out about the track after Sir Paul McCartney, 81, used AI to complete it before it was teased by the songwriter last month during an interview with Radio 4’s Today Programme, when he revealed he had used the technology to help him finish a “final” Beatles song.
Ringo told Variety about how the song has been made using authentic recordings from the past including ones of late Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison: “It’s not down to AI. It’s not like we’re pretending anything.
That is actually John’s voice, Paul’s voice and bass playing, George on rhythm guitar and me on drums.
“The two things that are new are Paul’s bass and me on drums… I really worked at it just months ago here. And it works.
“It’s a beautiful song. You know, for all the madness going on around it, it’s still a beautiful track. And our last track.”
The Variety interview states the new song is one Sir Paul, Ringo and George first attempted to make in the 1990s using scraps of songs that they found written by John.
Ringo joked about why Paul decided to recently tackle it again: “I don’t know. Paul must’ve had a slow day.
“He says, ‘You know that track we did? Do you want to work on that?’”
“It is moving, because the four of us are there, and there won’t be ever again.”
AI allowed Paul to “extricate” John Lennon’s vocals from an old demo track.
News he used the tech has provoked a mixed reaction from fans, who suspect it is the unreleased 1978 track ‘Now and Then’.
Paul told fans about the project: “Been great to see such an exciting response to our forthcoming Beatles project. No one is more excited than us to be sharing something with you later in the year.
“We’ve seen some confusion and speculation about it. Seems to be a lot of guess work out there.
“Can’t say too much at this stage but to be clear, nothing has been artificially or synthetically created. It’s all real and we all play on it.
“We cleaned up some existing recordings – a process which has gone on for years. We hope you love it as much as we do. More news in due course.”

The ‘Unholy’ hitmaker, 30, is thankful to the ‘1999’ singer, also 30, for featuring her on her 2017 track ‘Unlock It’ with Jay Park.
She gushed to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “I love her. She’s so good. And I always shout her out because she put me on ‘Unlock It’… I just think she’s one of the best pop songwriters that we have.”
The ‘Malibu’ singer also revealed she knows the person who leaked her album ‘Problematique’, and she is still hoping to release it.
She said: “It’s definitely someone I know and that’s what’s really annoying about it. It was just a double whammy in a lot of ways and really stung … There’s a blessing in everything, and I’m hoping that I’ll find a way to put that out as well at some point.”
The pop star released ‘Feed the Beast’ last month, almost a year after she revealed that her other record leaked online.
Kim had admitted that becoming the victim of a leak made her feel like quitting music.
She tweeted at the time: “I’m devastated idk how all of this happened and I just wanna quit. (sic)”
However, in hindsight, it pushed her to make an even better LP.
Kim told POPSUGAR “I feel like I really took that time — which is time I would’ve never taken — to really top [the album] off and make sure it’s the best it can possibly be.
“And now it really feels like a cohesive album. I’m proud of the message of it, which is just to go for it and do what you’re most scared of.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Aldean has defended his song ‘Try That In A Small Town’ after the controversial music video was pulled from CMT.
The promo for the track, which was released back in May, continues to be called out for its “violent” lyrics and use of footage from protests, though Aldean insists it’s nothing to do with race.
The video shows the burning American flag and riots.
The lyrics include: “Got a gun that my granddad gave me / They say one day they’re gonna round up / Well, that s*** might fly in the city, good luck / Try that in a small town.”
The country singer says references to Black Lives Matter and race are not only “meritless, but dangerous”, insisting it’s false that he was “not too pleased” with the BLM protests.
In a lengthy Twitter post, he wrote: “In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far.”
Referencing the Route 91 country music festival tragedy of 2017, he continued: “As so many pointed out, I was present at Route 91-where so many lost their lives- and our community recently suffered another heartbreaking tragedy. NO ONE, including me, wants to continue to see senseless headlines or families ripped apart.”
Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old man from Mesquite, Nevada, opened fire on the crowd attending the event on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada when Aldean was onstage. From his 32-second-floor suites at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, he fired more than 1,000 bullets, killing 60 people and injuring at least 413.
Explaining his intended message for the song, he concluded: “Try That In A Small Town, for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences. My political views have never been something I’ve hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this Country don’t agree on how we get back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least a day without a headline that keeps us up at night. But the desire for it to- that’s what this song is about. (sic)”
Sheryl Crow is the latest to take aim at her peer, insisting that people in small towns, and Americans all over, are done with “violence”.
The 61-year-old star tweeted: “.@Jason_Aldean I’m from a small town. Even people in small towns are sick of violence.There’s nothing small-town or American about promoting violence. You should know that better than anyone having survived a mass shooting.
“This is not American or small town-like. It’s just lame.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper’s band, The Hollywood Vampires, cancelled their Budapest concert at the last minute on Tuesday (18.07.23), leaving fans concerned.
The supergroup – also comprising Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen – were due to bring their latest tour to the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna, however, refunds were offered to gig-goers with no explanation for the cancellation, other than it being due to “unforeseen circumstances”, just moments before the start of the show.
A statement shared on the band’s official social media pages and re-shared by the ‘Edwards Scissorhands’ actor read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Vampires will be canceling tonight’s show in Budapest. All tickets (general and VIP, including meet and greet) will be refunded in full. We love and appreciate all of the fans who traveled from near and far to see us rise, and we’re truly sorry. Sincere apologies, The Hollywood Vampires.”
Though it didn’t state whether it was a medical issue, fans expressed their concern and sent well-wishes.
One wrote: “Ohhh no I hope everybody is okay. (sic)”

As he awaited the verdict on his US defamation case – which ultimately went in his favour – the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor performed shows with late rock legend and close pal Jeff Beck, who is among the fallen rockstars they paid tribute to during the show.
The group are next due to play in Slovakia at Olympic Fields on Thursday (20.07.23).

OHMYGOSSIP — Sporty Spice, aka Melanie C, pop star Self Esteem and Wolf Alice bandleader Ellie Rowsell have recorded the official song for England’s Women’s World Cup team.
The Spice Girl, 49, has teamed up with the Mercury Prize-nominated star, 36, and ‘Smile’ rocker, 31, and more on the empowering anthem, ‘Call Me A Lioness’, which pays homage to football aces including, Alessia Russo, Chloe Kelly and Ella Toone, who led the team to victory at the 2022 Euro final.
The track was co-written by rising star Olivia Dean, 24, and features 11 artists in total, who have named themselves Hope FC, a nod to former England player Hope Powell.
The all-female troupe sings: “A Russo back heel, and crowd was chanting, then Kelly dropped the mic, started dancing, Toone had the finish, we were in it to win it, and life would never be the same.”
Melanie said: “It’s been amazing to see the popularity of women’s football grow and their incredible win last year was a huge inspiration for this new song for the World Cup.
“I’m so privileged to be involved with a whole host of amazing female artists, cheering on our women’s team to bring it home again!”
Self Esteem – whose real name is Rebecca Lucy Taylor – commented: “The Lionesses are the future and I am so proud and excited to get behind them this summer.”
The track also features Sports Team’s Al Greenwood, Marika Hackman, Rachel Chinouriri, Shura, Jasmine Jethwa, Rose Gray and Highlyy.
Olivia said: “When Glen rang me with the idea of writing a song for the Lionesses I said yes instantly.
“It felt important that they have their own anthem as they are creating their own legacy.
“We wanted to make a song that gives girls a soundtrack to their pride of the Lionesses and of being a woman, and to unite everyone in that pride.”
It was songwriter Glen Roberts who suggested the Lionesses get their own official anthem
Gabby Logan’s famous commentary at the 2022 Euros also provided inspiration.
She said: “The Lionesses have brought football home.
“Now it’s down to the rest of us to make sure it stays here. You think it’s all over? It’s only just begun.”
England manager Sarina Wiegman also gets a mention.
‘Call Me A Lioness’ has been released the day before the FIFA Women’s World Cup kicks off in Australia on Thursday (20.07.23).

OHMYGOSSIP — Doja Cat has vowed to stop making “palatable, marketable and sellable” music.
The ‘Say So’ hitmaker has vowed that all her future music will be “authentic” after she channelled all the “rage” she felt toward the music industry into an eclectic album – the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Planet Her’ – that traverses “rap, soul and R’n’B music with jazz”.
In a cover interview with V magazine – which sees the star free the nipple in a mesh top – she said: “I have thrown fits my whole career because I have been making music that didn’t allow me to have a mental release.
“I have been making music that is palatable, marketable and sellable, that has allowed me to be where I am now.”
“These upcoming projects are going to be very different compared to everything I have done and I am excited about that.
“I do not care if people are not.”
Doja – who released the hip-hop single ‘Attention’ in June – added: “I have made pop music. I’m currently making rap, soul and R’n’B music with jazz elements.”
The singer-and-rapper previously admitted her last two albums were “cash-grabs”.
The ‘Kiss Me More’ hitmaker – who can be known to retract her statements on Twitter – told millions of Twitter followers that she would not be putting out a “mediocre pop” and she claimed ‘Planet Her’ and 2019’s ‘Hot Pink’ were just about making a tonne of money.
The 27-year-old star also went back on a previous post in which she announced her new album would be called ‘Hellmouth’.
She tweeted: “planet her and hot pink were cash-grabs and yall fell for it. now i can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while yall weep for mediocre pop. (sic)”
She added: “its not called hEllMoUth either its called “First of All” and yes I’m announcing the album title right now. (sic)”
However, the title is still yet to be confirmed.
Doja earlier declared she was done with pop because it was no longer “exciting” to her.
The musician made the admission in a series of posts on Twitter in which she told her followers she plans to focus her efforts on rap in the future, even though she admits many of her spoken word verses are “corny”.
She wrote: “No more pop … Pop isn’t exciting to me anymore. I don’t wanna make it.”
The singer added: “I also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny. I know they are. I wasn’t trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing y’all say that I can’t so I will …”
The singer went on to tease her fans by joking that her new album is gonna be a “french conceptual experimental country/bohemian fusion with the essence of blue-grass. (sic)”
She added: “Ima finish this album y’all don’t worry. (sic)”
Doja – whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini – previously teased an entirely different project, telling Variety: “I want to explore punk. But not pop-punk. I feel like we have enough pop-punk artists right now. And if there needs to be more, then let there be more, but I don’t think I’m the one to do it.
“I want to explore more of a raw, unfiltered, hardcore punk sort of thing. It’s just something that I’m doing for my own personal fun – getting some drummers and guitarists together. And I don’t even know if that’s gonna make it out there.”
