OHMYGOSSIP — The Hives’ frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist says he struggles to keep his inner “lion” caged.
He spoke out about feeling he has to “fake” normality days after the Swedish garage punk band released its first album in eleven years – their sixth studio record, ‘The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons’.
Pelle, 45, told The Sun: “I actually feel like I have to fake it in normal life to fit in.
“You can’t behave like that person on stage in the f****** supermarket, tipping s*** over and screaming all the time – you’ve got to keep the lion in the cage.”
He added about the group’s new 31-minute record: “No one really does stuff like that anymore (apart from us.)
“Showing guts and b**** is way more important than technique… that is what rock ’n’ roll is all about.
“We were doing a record signing the other day and a guy told me, ‘I’m 60-years-old but when I listen to your music, I’m 16.’ Now, that’s awesome!
“We’ve always thought energy and gusto and bravery are more important than anything else… for me, performing live is like being in an altered state.
“You are in a different universe and something else takes over.
“My mouth comes up with things I wouldn’t say if I was thinking about it. My body does things I didn’t know it could do.”
Pelle went on about how the album is a celebration of the group being able to go back on the road after the Covid lockdowns: “The live show is really important, mainly for those euphoric adrenalin highs, but it was basically illegal for two years.
“So this album is post-prohibition rock ’n’ roll. We’re hoping people overdose on it!”
According to a press release, the “macabre title” of The Hives’ new album hints at the extended break the band took from recording, described as a “horror story”.
‘Randy Fitzsimmons’ is a reference to the fictional sixth member of the Hives who supposedly served as the band’s manager and sole songwriter.
Pelle added about how he still wants to be on the road when he’s Sir Mick Jagger’s age: “Imagine how much s*** he’s taken about not maturing throughout his life but he’s still there. He’s winning, man.
“He’s probably an adult for most of the day but he’s allowed to act like a 15-year-old for an hour-and-a-half.
“I take off every hat I’ve ever worn to Mick Jagger.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus has used her new single to reflect on her partying past.
The 30-year-old wears a Mickey Mouse T-shirt to tease her forthcoming single, ‘Used to be Young’, on Spotify, in a nod to her wholesome image on the Disney Channel at the start of her career.
Pop Base shared the image on Elon Musk’s X platform, with the new image appearing on the streamer when listeners tune into her songs.
Lyrics on the upcoming tune, due out on 25 August, include: “I know I used to be crazy. I know I used to be fun. You say I used to be wild, I say I used to be young.”
Fans have noted the track’s release date is Miley’s dad Billy Ray’s Cyrus’ birthday and they say Miley picked the release day as a thank you to her father for standing by her as she found her way in showbiz and eventually put her partying ways to bed.
It has been seven months since her hit ‘Flowers’ came out – which Miley released on ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s birthday.
One fan said about her wearing a Mickey Mouse T-shirt to promote her new single: “Oh she has some things to say! Mickey better hide.”
Another added: “The song must be very emotional and personal.”
At the start of her career, Miley was one of the biggest faces of the Disney Channel thanks to playing the titular role in ‘Hannah Montana’, which ran from 2006 until 2011.
Her shirt being used to plug her upcoming single is a reworked vintage Mickey Mouse Shirt designed by Maison Margiela and is up for auction to benefit the Make a Wish foundation.
Miley recently told British Vogue about how she’s put her partying ways in the past while discussing how she turned down track about clubbing an unnamed songwriter offered her: “It was like, you know, the standard f*****-up-in-the-club track.
“And I was like, ‘I’m two years sober. That’s not where I spend my time, you know?’
“You’re more likely to catch me and my friends literally walking through rose gardens or going to a museum. It’s not about being self-serious. I’ve just evolved.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie and Marc Bolan’s rivalry waned when they were both equally as successful.
The glam rock legends were each other’s biggest competitors in the 70s, and their producer Tony Visconti admits Bolan could be “very catty and snipey” at times, but on Bowie’s part, he had nothing but admiration for the T.Rex star.
Speaking to MOJO magazine, the studio wizard spilled: “I was working with both of them at the same time, loving them equally, doing my best for each of them. Then David had the first big hit.
Marc saw it more as rivalry. David loved Marc, and was always kind to him. Marc was occasionally very catty and snipey. But it got better when he became more successful and they were on more equal terms.”
Visconti went on to admit that Bolan was “musically limited” and didn’t give himself the chance to better his playing, instead relying on his egotistical stage persona.
He recalled: “Bolan was a great pop star but soon people started saying he was 50 per cent talent, 50 per cent bull**** self-mythologising…
He was a poet. And a product of his own creation. He grew up on the streets of Hackney, but he had a beautiful accent, he was eloquent and articulate. He literally invented this person who wasn’t Marc Feld but Marc Bolan. He was two people in the same body. I met him when he was very humble, just a little bit of arrogance, which I knew was gonna grow.”
He added: “Musically, he was limited. With his seven chords.
I counted them. Whereas David, he could sit at a piano and play all kinds of jazz chords. All his early stuff showed that he was musically very interesting.”
Bolan died in a tragic car crash in September 1977 aged just 29.
Bowie privately battled liver cancer until his death in December 2016 and lived to be 69.
Like Bolan, Bowie had his own stage alter ego, the alien rock star Ziggy Stardust.
The pair were good friends most of the time, and Bowie was the final guest on the last episode of ‘Marc’, a six-part series in which he hosted a mix of new and established bands and performed his own songs.
Bowie’s hit ‘Heroes’ was the show’s penultimate song; Bolan signed off, naming some of the musicians: “All the cats; you know who they are.” After four words of Bowie’s vocals, Bolan stumbled off the stage and grabbed the microphone.
Bowie was clearly humoured by the stunt with a huge grin on his face.
The ‘Starman’ hitmaker performed Bolan covers, joining Morrissey for a live duet of T. Rex’s ‘Cosmic Dancer’ in Los Angeles in 1991.
He also teamed up with Placebo for a rendition of ’20th Century Boy’ at the 1999 BRIT Awards, after it was featured in the 1998 film ‘Velvet Goldmine’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Aoki is releasing a concert album, featuring Paris Hilton and Akon.
The 45-year-old DJ’s 10th studio album, ‘HiROQUEST: Double Helix’, will be released on November 17 and is set to feature collaborations with Hilton, Akon, Galantis Ángela Aguilar, Danna Paola, Greeicy, JJ Lin, Hayley Kiyoko, Timmy Trumpet and John Martin.
The album is a follow-up to Aoki’s 2022 record ‘HiROQUEST: Genesis’.
Steve said in a press release: “HiROQUEST is an entire world I crafted around an enigmatic character named HiRO. Part I was largely driven by my alt-music roots in hardcore punk bands. Now, the story continues on Double Helix, which embraces dance culture while intertwining the pulse of contemporary Latin music.”
He has also worked with French production duo TRINIX and Akon on a dance reworking of Akon’s 2003 hit ‘Locked Up’, which he called a “dream come true”.
The song was released alongside a claymation music video.
He said: “Working with Akon to reimagine his 2003 hit “Locked Up” was a dream come true – a fusion of styles I adore. This album harmonises nostalgia and contemporary sounds, placing collaboration at its core.”
Aoki debuted many of the new album singles during his recent headline performance at Tomorrowland 2023, where he was joined by Hilton, Kid Cudi, Lil’ Jon, Danna Paola, and Martin.
He is also set to return to the UK, for his first show in four years, for a day party at Ministry Of Sound on 16 September.

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaquille O’Neal has compared DJing to playing a “championship game”.
The retired basketball star has performed at Lost Lands, Tomorrowland, EDC LV, Electric Zoo, Forbidden Kingdom and Beyond Wonderland as his alter-ego DJ Diesel and admitted the thrill of playing to huge concert crowds is right up there with a high-stakes basketball game.
Speaking to Variety, Shaquille, 51, said: “I’ve been playing basketball since I was 13. If it’s a crowd of 100 people or a crowd of 100,000, it’s the same thing if you’re putting on a show. In high school, the gym would be packed with 300 people. In the NBA and the championships, you have parades, but then it’s all gone, and you need it back.
“I went to Tomorrowland and saw Tiesto with 100,000 people out there. I got that feeling back. I thought, ‘I’ve been DJing since ’88, let me try.’ I was in the celebrity DJ box and had to prove myself.”
He credits Perry Farrell of Lollapalooza for giving him a chance to perform in 2019, saying: “Mr. Perry gave me the opportunity. I didn’t have the slot that I wanted. But I guess when people found out I was DJing, they came out. We came out and saw 50,000 people. The place went crazy.”
After performing for more than 100,000 people at Lollapalooza, he said: “That felt like a championship game and a parade all in one.
“It gives me the feeling of a playoff game. People are ready to jam and have a good time. It’s our job as athletes and DJs to give them their money’s worth.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Richards wants to work with Tom Waits again.
The Rolling Stones guitarist has collaborated with the ‘Goin’ Out West’ singer several times since their first studio sessions, on his pal’s 1985 album ‘Rain Dogs’, and they always have “great fun” together.
He told Uncut magazine: “With Tom, it’s no sweat. We didn’t have to do anything together, we just did it because we were together.
“Sometimes we write things together and sometimes we’ll have dinner or something.
“It’s an organic thing and great fun.
“I loved working with him and jeez, I’d do it again anytime Tom!”
The 79-year-old musician was “incredibly humbled” when he realised the only other person Tom has written songs with is his wife Kathleen Brennan.
He said: “Kathleen is a very important part of what he does. They are a tight couple.
“I think he has only ever written with Kathleen – and me.
“I only ever found that out after the fact and I was incredibly humbled by that.
“They are a hell of a duo to break into, man!
“She is a hidden genius. What a great thing for a couple to be able to do that.
“I can only think of one other married couple who did that, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, who wrote all those great songs for the Everly Brothers. Tom and Kathleen remind me of them actually.
“In a way, what they do is a very traditional thing.”
Keith wishes Tom performed live more.
He said: “He’s such a fantastic performer. Out of nowhere, he pulls out little tricks, a little bit of shadow and movement and he’s got it.
“I wish he would do more live work.
“I know that he is a little wary of doing that but me and a lot of people would love to see that.
“At the same time, you can only do it when you want to do it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ has been dropped from Queen’s new Greatest Hits collection.
The 1978 song, written by guitarist Brian May, celebrates a young man’s appreciation for fuller-figured women but appears to be the latest victim of cancel culture.
The track – which features lyrics such as ‘fat bottomed girls, you make the rockin’ world go round’ – featured on Queen’s original 1981 greatest hits album alongside tracks such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘We Will Rock You’.
However, it did not feature when Universal Records announced they would be releasing a version of the album on Yoto – a new audio platform aimed at younger listeners – in a move that has left industry figures baffled.
An insider told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “It is the talk of the music industry, nobody can work out why such a good-natured, fun song can’t be acceptable in today’s society.
“It is woke gone mad. Why not appreciate people of all shapes and sizes like society is saying we should, rather than get rid of it. It’s outrageous.”
The track, taken from Queen’s album ‘Jazz’, and its promotional material have long sparked debate over whether the song is suitable although Brian explained that he penned the record with frontman Freddie Mercury in his thoughts.
The 76-year-old rocker told Mojo magazine in 2008: “I wrote it with Fred in mind, as you do, especially if you’ve got a great singer who likes fat bottomed girls… or boys.”
The original sleeve for the song featured a scantily-clad female riding a bicycle (it was released as a single with ‘Bicycle Race’) although this was amended as some stores refused to stock it.
The updated version featured the same image with knickers drawn over the woman cycling.

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish is going through a “different” creative process for her next album.
The ‘Bad Guy’ hitmaker is working on her third record with her brother and collaborator Finneas and explained how she has experienced a “big jump” between the ages of 18 and 21 since the release of her debut ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’.
Speaking on Dua Lipa’s ‘At Your Service’ podcast, Billie said of the music making process: “Everything is different about it. I’ve been trying to compare recently, just because I’m getting used to doing it in a different way. And trying to be like, ‘It’s OK to do that. I’m OK. I’m still able to do that; I’m capable still.'”
The star discussed the transition from making music in her childhood home to working in Finneas’ basement studio for her last album ‘Happier Than Ever’ and felt as if the pair had “figured out” the process.
Billie explained: “We were like, ‘We’ve got it all figured out, this is how we’re going to do it from now on, and it works really well.’
“And, you know, touring for a year-and-a-half, then coming back to it, and being way older – and not even much older, but again, the jump between 18 and 21 is a big jump.”
Billie revealed that she is trying to convince herself that she hasn’t “lost it” as her vocals have changed.
She said: “The way that I exist in the room is different, my voice has completely changed since then… The voice-changing thing is a trip! It’s all kind of shocking.
“I’ve gotten a little bit more like, ‘OK, it’s just change and I’m figuring that out.’ It’s hard to accept change, it’s hard to get over, ‘But I did this way for so long, and it worked so well!’ Well, you can’t anymore.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaggy is set to perform at Notting Hill Carnival this August Bank Holiday.
The ‘It Wasn’t Me’ hitmaker is set to entertain the crowds on the Saxon and Rampage stages and will be celebrating 30 years since he scored his first UK No.1 single with ‘Oh Carolina’.
The ‘Angel’ singer’s Notting Hill gig news comes after Jamaican reggae legend Shaggy, 54, dropped the soca-inspired EP ‘In The Mood’.
He said: “I’m in the mood big time for this year’s Notting Hill Carnival.
“It’s one of the biggest carnivals in the world and represents Caribbean culture from foundation to future…..
Thirty years after the release of ‘Oh Carolina’, I wanted to get back to my roots and celebrate in the streets where everything took off. My latest EP In The Mood is all about the party and community of our culture – people coming together to celebrate life. It’s dancehall, soca, reggae and dance music all wrapped up in one musical explosion.”
Notting Hill Carnival kicks off on Sunday, August 27, with J’Ouvert and the Children’s Day parade.
On Monday, August 28, the full Carnival community takes to the streets in their colour and splendour, displaying their hand-made costumes that represent a year of communities coming together to celebrate Caribbean culture.
This year’s event will be celebrating the Windrush Generation and 50 years of Mas and Sound Systems.
It was the 75th anniversary of HMT Empire Windrush first transporting people to the UK from the Caribbean on June 22, while it’s been five decades since the first sound systems and Mas (Masquerade) bands arrived.

OHMYGOSSIP — Greta Van Fleet’s Josh Kiszka admits a “huge weight lifted” after he came out.
The 27-year-old frontman of the Grammy-winning rock band felt compelled to speak his truth and reveal his relationship with a man after a number of anti-LGBTQ+ laws were passed in his home state of Tennessee.
And opening up about making his sexuality public, Josh admitted it was a huge relief that the news was met with so much “respect” from their fans.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the singer admitted he worried he would feel like he had “a target on my back”, but the response couldn’t have been more different.
He shared: “Everything had been met with love and acceptance and humility and respect, and that was a huge wave of reassurance that things are moving in the right direction. As a performer and as an entertainer, a huge weight was lifted. Because ultimately as an artist or just as a person, we all want to be understood to some degree.”
Last month, the ‘You’re the One’ group played in Nashville, Tennessee, and were amazed when fans managed to come up with a way to form an LGBTQ+ rainbow with small pieces of paper in front of their phones.
He said: “The fact that that many people could communicate and coordinate to make that happen was extraordinary.
“It was really difficult for me to keep it together.”
In his inspiring coming out statement, Josh wrote on Instagram: “Where I’ve settled a home in Tennessee, legislators are proposing bills that threaten the freedom of love. It’s imperative that I speak my truth for not only myself, but in hopes to change hearts, minds, and laws in Tennessee and beyond.
“The LGBTQ+ community is a cultural pillar, constantly championing positivity and acceptance through art, music, literature, film, and most importantly, legislation.
“The greatest mortal gift of all is our capacity to love and as we travel through time, may our greater understanding of the matter around and within us teach us to love ever deeper.”
Passed in February, the anti-drag bill – officially titled the Tennessee Senate Bill 3 – has since been blocked and is pending an appeal, but was to prohibit adult cabaret from performing on public property and other places where minors could be present, and it included “male or female impersonators” under the banner of “adult cabaret”.
Violators were to face a fine of up to $1,000, and up to two years in prison.
However, US District Judge Thomas Parker issued a temporary injunction after hearing from both sides of the argument and decided the bill was too vague, with the word drag not even mentioned.
The temporary injunction was changed to a permanent injunction on June 2, however, on June 30, Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti filed a Notice of Appeal.
Another bill in the state prohibits gender-affirming care for minors.

OHMYGOSSIP — ZZ Top legend Billy F Gibbons is set to receive BMI’s Troubadour Award.
The 73-year-old blues rock legend will be bestowed with the prestigious prize at a private ceremony on September 18 at BMI’s Nashville HQ.
BMI’s VP of Creative Nashville Clay Bradley said: “With a career spanning several decades, Billy has penned an array of timeless hits that have left an inedible mark on the music industry.
“His ability to craft lyrics that resonate with audiences across generations is a testament to his songwriting prowess and he is the epitome of what the BMI Troubadour Award represents.”
The ‘La Grange’ hitmaker has sold more than 50 million albums with ZZ Top and has also had a successful solo career.
Billy has performed and collaborated with everyone from B.B. King and Jeff Beck to Nickelback and Queens of the Stone Age.
For ZZ Top, the guitarist and songwriter penned the likes of ‘Sharp Dressed Man’, ‘Legs’ and ‘Cheap Sunglasses’.
The honour comes two years after ZZ Top lost their beloved bassist Dusty Hill.
The musician died aged 72 in July 2021, just weeks after he was forced to pull out of a number of shows across the US after suffering an injury to his hip.
Bandmates Billy and Frank Beard confirmed the news in a statement which read: “We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX.
“We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’.
“We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C’. You will be missed greatly, amigo.”
Dusty was a founding member of the rock band and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the group in 2004.

OHMYGOSSIP — Hozier would “absolutely” strike if action was taken over the use of AI in music.
In the film industry, writers and actors have been marching on the picket lines over concerns about the rise in AI, as well as working conditions, and streaming services.
And whilst many artists have been vocal about their fears for the music industry, with it now possible to replicate anyone’s vocals using AI software, there is yet to be an official walkout by musicians and songwriters.
Speaking on ‘BBC Newsnight’, Hozier said when asked if he would strike over AI: “Joining in solidarity if there was… action on that? Absolutely.”
The ‘Take Me To Church’ hitmaker, 33, doesn’t feel AI music can be labelled art.
He went on: “Whether (AI is) art or not, I think, is nearly a philosophical debate.
“It can’t create something based on a human experience. So I don’t know if it meets the definition of art.”
The Irish musician having his say on the debate comes after Ed Sheeran admitted he finds Artificial Intelligence (AI) “weird” and fears reality could turn into one of the movies where AI gets too clever and decides to wipe out humanity.
The 32-year-old pop star believes it’s a bad idea to replace human jobs with robots, however, he doesn’t think much harm can be done by the AI chatbot, ChatGPT, which is developed by OpenAI and can make songs that song like any artist, understand and generate human-like responses to questions, pen creative writing and assist with everyday tasks.
In an interview on Audacy, Ed said: “What I don’t understand about AI is like, for the last 60 years, Hollywood movies have been telling you, ‘Don’t do it’. And now everyone’s doing it.
“And I’m just like, ‘Have you not seen the movies where they kill us all?'”
He added: “Also, I just don’t know why you need it – if you’re taking a job away from a human being, I think that’s probably a bad thing.
“The whole point of society is we all do jobs. If everything is done by robots, everybody’s gonna be out of work. I just find AI a bit weird. But ChatGPT… f****** why not?”
Damon Albarn recently quipped that “we’re gonna need better drugs” to get through an age of AI.
The 55-year-old Blur frontman slammed AI versions of the ‘Parklife’ group’s songs sung in the vocal likeness of Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg.
Asked about the rise in Artificial Intelligence music, Damon was quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “It’s absurd. Anyone who has so much time to sing songs through a Michael Bublé filter and put them on the internet is a f****** idiot. If the AIs are the future of music, we’re gonna need better drugs to get us through it!”
Many artists have raised their concerns about the lack of emotion in AI, including Nick Cave, 65, and Sting, 71, the latter of whom believes it will be a “battle” for the music industry.
However, 35-year-old experimental artist Grimes – who has gone as far as to create her own AI software – and will.i.am are pro-AI.
The Black Eyed Peas star, 48, is one of the music artists championing songs created by artificial intelligence software, with the songwriter claiming it can pen a tune just as good as he can.

OHMYGOSSIP — Green Day are to release a 30th anniversary reissue of their album ‘Dookie’.
The group – made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool – are to celebrate three decades of their 1994 record by dropping ‘Dookie (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)’.
The new edition will be available as a limited edition six-LP vinyl box set, a four-CD box set and also available digitally.
‘Dookie (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)’ will be released on September 29th, and will feature previously unreleased ‘Dookie’ demos, as well as live recordings ‘Live At Woodstock (1994)’ and ‘Live In Barcelona (June 5, 1994)’, which has never been released.
What’s more, Green Day fans with dogs might be pleased to hear the bumper box set also comes with ‘Dookie’ pooch poop bags, as well as air freshener, which could be useful after your four-legged friend has done their business.
Other items include a five-button set, a postcard, a bumper sticker, a magnet, a paper aeroplane, and a poster.
The band’s third studio album was initially released on February 1, 1994.
The music, which featured themes such as anxiety, relationships, sexuality and boredom, was mostly penned by frontman Billie.
Singles ‘Basket Case’, ‘When I Come Around’, ‘Longview’, ‘She’, and a re-recorded version of ‘Welcome to Paradise’, which was initially on the group’s ‘Kerplunk!’ album, all featured on ‘Dookie’.
In March, Yusuf/ Cat Stevens – who is also known as Yusuf Islam – revealed he wanted to collaborate with the band.
Asked if he’s in the loop with pop music nowadays, he told NME: “Not very much. I came from one of pop’s pinnacle eras when there’d be a new milestone every week, so I tend to listen to that period most.
“But I love Green Day because of their message. ‘Know Your Enemy’ is an incredible song with a message about the Iraq war that was right on time.”
Asked if he’d like to collaborate with the group, he replied: “Yeah! Wow, that’s a good idea. I think they listened to my song ‘Bitterblue’ before making ‘Know Your Enemy’, as I can hear little titbits of it in the chords and some of the words.
“I reckon we could definitely get it on.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Byrne acted like a “little tyrant” during his time in Talking Heads.
The 71-year-old musician has opened up about his younger years and conceded he wasn’t particularly “pleasant” to be around during the band’s hey day and it took him years to learn to chill out and be more collaborative.
He told PEOPLE: “As a younger person, I was not as pleasant to be around. When I was working on some Talking Heads shows, I was more of a little tyrant. And then I learned to relax, and I also learned that collaborating with people, both sides get more if there’s a good relationship instead of me telling everybody what to do.”
David also addressed the band’s split in 1991, calling the end of the group “ugly” and admitting he regrets the way he handled it.
He added: “I think [the end] wasn’t handled well. It was kind of ugly. I have regrets on how that was handled. I don’t think I did it in the best way, but I think it was kind of inevitable that would happen anyway.”
The end of the band came in 1991 and drummer drummer Chris Frantz later claimed he’d found out David had left in a newspaper article. He later told the Los Angeles Times: “As far as we’re concerned, the band never really broke up. David just decided to leave.”
The other bandmembers continued without him as the Shrunken Heads and they released an album under the name the Heads in 1996, but they all eventually put the past behind them and worked with David again in later years even playing together at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
David added of his current relationship with his former bandmates: “We have a cordial relationship now. We’re sort of in touch, but we don’t hang out together.”

OHMYGOSSIP — BLACKPINK will draw their ‘Born Pink’ era to a close with the completion of their world tour in Seoul.
The K-Pop girl group – comprising Rosé, Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo – will finish the global jaunt with two homecoming concerts on September 16 and 17 in the South Korean capital.
The four-piece started the tour in support of their second album of the same name back in October 2022, in Seoul, and the two final dates bring the total number of shows to 66.
Last week, the girls – who are nearing the end of their North American leg – marked their 7th anniversary by paying tribute to their loyal fan base.
They took to their respective Instagram accounts to thank their Blinks for making their dreams come true.
Rosé penned on Instagram alongside a series of snapshots of moments from their career so far: “Thank you, BLACKPINK for being such a blessing in my life. I have really been able to experience everything and more than what I have ever dreamed of growing up as an aspiring artist.
“Thank you, thank you and thank you a thousand times.”
Lisa wrote: “7 is one of my favorite numbers and I hope this year will be a lucky one for us. (sic)”
Jennie said: “I love us I love Blackpink I love Blinks. (sic)”
And Jisoo added to her account in two separate posts: “BLACKPINK is always in your area” and “Blinks, BLACKPINK forever.”
BLACKPINK are the highest-charting female Korean act on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 13 with ‘Ice Cream’ in 2020, and on the Billboard 200, peaking at number one with their second studio album, 2022’s ‘Born Pink’, which is the best-selling album of all time by a female act in South Korea and the first to sell over two million copies.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lionel Richie has profusely apologised for cancelling his show an hour after the time it was scheduled to start, and quipped that he “tried to bribe the pilot” who said they couldn’t land due to “severe weather” conditions.
The ‘Hello’ hitmaker is on the ‘Sing a Song All Night Long Tour’ with Earth, Wind and Fire, and was “bummed” after he was forced to pull his performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night (12.08.23), because the aircraft he was arriving on was “unable to land”, leaving thousands of fans disappointed.
Lionel, 74, rescheduled the concert to Monday (14.08.23) and it also meant that their concert in Connecticut that night had to be moved to Wednesday (16.08.23).
And when he finally took to the stage at MSG, he apologised to the crowd and vowed to make it up to them.
He said in a clip obtained by People: “I had two ‘no’s to come at the same time,” Richie said. “And when those two decided it’s a no — when God says no and when the pilot says no, the answer …”
Lionel then joked: “I tried to bribe the pilot.”
Before he added: “And the pilot said, ‘I do want to see my wife tomorrow.’ So tonight we are going to make up for that. I apologise for that a thousand times.”
A statement posted on his social media pages read: “Due to severe weather and being unable to land in the NY and surrounding areas, I’m unable to make it to the show tonight. I’m so bummed. We are rescheduling the show to Monday Aug 14. Can’t wait to perform for you all. Tickets for tonight’s show are valid for the show on Monday.”
Many fans were left “frustrated”, and one user suggested the ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ hitmaker could have been driven in a limo.
One wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “You can’t sell out Madison Square Garden and [cancel due to] a weather issue.”
Another wrote: “Hope you’re OK but you should have taken a limo for your fans for four hours. He’s loaded … take a f****** limo.”
