Surprise! Drake announces new album Scary Hours 3 is dropping at midnight

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake has surprised fans by announcing his new album, ‘Scary Hours 3’, is arriving at midnight (17.11.23).
Less than 24 hours before its release and almost six weeks after dropping his latest LP, ‘For All The Dogs’, Drake has shared a poignant trailer for his next record, a follow-up to 2018’s ‘Scary Hours’ and 2021’s ‘Scary Hours 2′ EPs.
In the dramatic short, Drake explains: “I feel no need to appease anybody.
“I feel so confident about the body of work that I just dropped.”
He goes on to explain that he could “disappear for six months, a year, two years,”, but insists “I’m not super into the lengthy disappearances.”
The ‘Rich Flex’ hitmaker also claims that all the songs on’ Scary Hours 3′ were penned “in the last five days.”
Before he stated that he did “not have one bar written” when he dropped ‘For All the Dogs’.
Speaking about the prolific period he’s experiencing, he continued: “I feel like I’m on drugs.
“I feel like I’m in that mental state without doing anything. It’s happening on its own. Who am I to fight it?”
Drake walks through a concert hall with a glass of wine in his hand whilst the narration plays, and it ends with an orchestra playing a threatening piece of music.
He captioned the video on Instagram: “Scary Hours 3. Tonight at Midnight.”
The imminent album news came a matter of hours after Drake and J. Cole shared the video for their collaboration ‘First Person Shooter’.
The new album will come as a surprise to many, as days after dropping ‘For All The Dogs’, Drake claimed he was taking a break from making music to focus on his health.
The 37-year-old rap star revealed that he plans to step back from the music business for “maybe a year” as he’s been having the “craziest problems” with his stomach.
He told SiriusXM’s ‘Sound 42’: “I probably won’t make music for a little bit.
“I’m gonna be honest. I got some other things I need to do for some other people that I made promises to, but I probably won’t make music for a little bit.
“I’m gonna be real with you. I need to focus on my health first and foremost and I’ll talk about that soon enough.”
Drake revealed that he’s determined to overcome his health problems before he returns to the music business.
The ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker said: “I want people to be healthy in life and I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach. So I need to focus on my health and get right, and I’m going to do that.”
Drake said he wasn’t sure when he’ll return to the music scene.
The rapper admitted that he could actually be absent from the business for more than a year.
The chart-topping star shared: “I need to get right. I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on. So I’m gonna lock the door in the studio for a little bit.
“I don’t even know what a little bit is. Maybe, maybe a year or something, or maybe a little longer.”

Andre 3000 had to ask Beyonce permission to use her name in his song title

OHMYGOSSIP — Andre 3000 had to seek clearance from Beyoncé and Jay-Z to use her name on his new track, ‘Ninety Three ‘Til Infinity And Beyoncé’.
The OutKast star has just unveiled his first new music in 17 years, the instrumental project, ‘New Blue Sun’, which features lengthy, bizarre song titles.
And he has revealed that the song with the ‘Crazy in Love’ hitmaker’s name had to be cleared for use.
He told NPR: “So No. 5 is called ‘Ninety Three ‘Til Infinity And Beyoncé.’ That was more when I was a youngster – Souls of Mischief was one of my favourite groups and ’93 ’til Infinity,’ everybody remembers that song.
“So it was kind of like a fun nod and you know, Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, he always say, ‘To infinity and beyond!’ You know? So, it was kind of like, ‘Ninety Three ‘Til Infinity And Beyoncé. So it was kind of just this fun thing.”
He continued: “I was being silly. And thank you, Beyoncé, for letting me use the name! I actually had to clear it. I had to call. And thanks Jay! I text him, I was like, ‘Hey man, can you ask Beyoncé? I know I got this clearance thing coming through for this song.’ And I explained to him how I used it. And I’m just happy they let me use it so thank y’all. I really appreciate that.”
The ‘Hey Ya!’ hitmaker also explained why he didn’t record a rap album for fans.
The opening tune is called ‘I Really Wanted To Make A Rap Album, But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time’.
Expanding on the reason in the interview, he said: “I don’t want to troll people. I don’t want people to think, Oh, this André 3000 album is coming! And you play it and like, Oh man, no verses. So even actually on the packaging, you’ll see it says, ‘Warning: no bars.’ It’s letting you know what it is off the top. But also, I love rap music because it was a part of my youth. So I would love to be out here with everybody rapping, because it’s almost like fun and being on the playground.”

Gene Simmons open to having four fresh faces continue KISS

OHMYGOSSIP — Gene Simmons would love to see KISS continue with four new musicians.
The veteran rockers are bringing their stage career to an end with the finale of their ‘The End of the Road Tour’ at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 2, but Gene is open to the ‘Detroit Rock City’ group handing over the “baton” and having younger talent continue under the band’s name.
Gene, 74, told Rolling Stone: “You want to go out while you’re on top.
And remember, we introduce ourselves with, ‘You wanted the best, you got the best, the hottest mofo band on the planet, Kiss.’ At some point, those words are not going to mean very much, when I’m in my rocket-propelled wheelchair with a hot nurse pushing me around.”
Asked if he would allow other musicians to keep the band going, he replied: “I’m totally open to that idea.
“Why not pass the baton, pass the crown to four new, young people who are deserving?”
Beyond their final show, a KISS biopic is said to be heading to Netflix in 2024.
The band’s manager, Doc McGhee, revealed the film, which was first talked about in 2021, will follow the first four years of the glam metal legends.
The ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ rockers formed in New York City in 1973, with a line-up comprising Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals), and Peter Criss (drums, vocals).
Speaking on ‘The Rock Experience with Mike Brunn’, Doc said: “It’s a biopic about the first four years of KISS. We’re just starting it now. We’ve already sold it, it’s already done, we have a director, McGhee [Entertainment]. That’s moving along and that’ll come in [2024].”
The confirmation comes after it was reported that Netflix had all but signed a deal for a biopic called ‘Shout It Out Loud’.
Deadline reported at the time that the movie will focus on the story of Gene and Paul meeting in Queens in New York and forming the band with Ace and Peter.
Joachim Rønning was said to be on to direct with a script from Ole Sanders, who was working from an earlier draft penned by William Blake Herron.
However, it’s not known if that’s still the case.
The biopic won’t be short of material, Gene grew up as a Hasidic Orthodox Jew and attended the Jewish religious school, Yeshiva Torah Vodaas, before transferring to a public school and attending colleges in the Big Apple.
The 73-year-old rocker once recalled: “I remember walking out onto the street, seeing this Spanish girl jumping rope across the street, and staring at her long black hair slapping against this great butt.
“It occurred to me this was better than religion. How could I get near that?”
He’d later choose the stage name Gene Simmons in homage to the rockabilly star Jumpin’ Gene Simmons.
While they both have their differences, the pair shared the desire to join a band to attract attention from the ladies.
Paul, 71, previously recalled: “I was deaf in one ear and had a slight deformity that made me look different.
“I was this short, fat kid, and music became my salvation, a place to hide and dream. And when I played music, there were always girls around.”
Since forming, the ‘I Was Made for Lovin’ You’ rockers have sold more than 75 million records worldwide. The four original members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
KISS now comprises Gene, Paul, Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer.

Gossip reunite ahead of releasing new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Gossip have reunited to record a new album.
The indie rock band – which includes Beth Ditto, Brace Paine and Hannah Blilie – have reformed and they’re now planning to release a new album, produced by Rick Rubin, in March.
Beth, 42 – who previously disbanded Gossip in order to pursue a career in fashion – said: “When we began, so much about Gossip was about running away – that was always in the music. We survived. We came from nothing, and we got the f*** out of there. And to be here 20 years later and still making music together is just incredible.”
The band’s long-awaited new album has been titled ‘Real Power’, and ‘Crazy Again’ will be the first single off the new record.
Beth shared: “The song is about actually being in love and feeling so safe.”
Gossip have already sold more than ten million records worldwide. However, the band haven’t released an album since ‘A Joyful Noise’ back in 2012.
The much-anticipated new album has been described as an 11-track celebration of “creative expression”, but the process was temporarily halted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to that, Beth suggested that a Gossip reunion was unlikely.
Asked about the possibility of a reunion, Beth told Rolling Stone magazine in 2017: “There’s no drama between us.
“We get along the way we always got along.
“We still send each other jokes. We would go months without seeing each other, but we loved each other like family.”

‘Real Power’ track listing:

1. Act Of God
2. Real Power
3. Don’t Be Afraid
4. Crazy Again
5. Edge Of The Sun
6. Give It Up For Love

‘An outrage’ Matty Healy fumes over 1975’s Grammy Awards snub

OHMYGOSSIP — Matty Healy thinks it is a “f****** outrage” The 1975 haven’t been nominated for a Grammy Award.
The ‘I’m In Love With You’ group failed to land a single place on the shortlists when the nominations for the upcoming ceremony were revealed last week and the 34-year-old singer accused the Recording Academy of being “mental” by snubbing their work once again.
Speaking on stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden during The 1975’s ‘Still… At Their Very Best’ tour, Matty fumed: “The fact we didn’t get nominated for a Grammy is a f****** outrage.
“And the reason people don’t say that is ’cause it’s not a very tasteful thing to say. But I’m way past tasteful.
“Are you f****** mental?! Are they f****** mental?! ‘A Brief Inquiry…’, ‘I Like It When You Sleep…’ – nothing. F*** off! D********. What the f*** are they on about?
“I mean, [2022 song] ‘About You’ just on its own merits deserves a f****** Grammy. I mean, I don’t really care that much but it just winds me up.”
Matty insisted he wasn’t being “self-celebratory” but praised outspoken rapper Kanye West as “one of [his] heroes” for his belief in himself.
He said: “You know what? You’ve gotta fucking believe in yourself. [West is] an awkward hero to have right now, I understand that. But separate the anti-Semitism – just think about the self-belief.
“Literally tell me one band in the past four years that could do what we’re gonna do in the next three minutes.”
To date, the Recording Academy has only previously shortlisted the band’s ‘I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It’ for Best Boxed of Special Limited Edition Package in 2017 and Best Rock Song for ‘Give Yourself A Try’ in 2020.
Meanwhile, in the nominations for the upcoming 67th Grammy Awards – which will take place in Los Angeles on 4 February – Jack Antonoff, who worked on The 1975’s 2022 LP ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language’ is in the running for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.

Ozzy Osbourne ‘unlikely to tour again’, says son Jack Osbourne

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne is unlikely to tour again, according to his son.
Jack Osbourne doesn’t expect his dad to ever hit the road again for a run of shows, but admitted the 74-year-old rocker – who insisted recently he wanted to “go back on the road” – is still keen to perform at one-off gigs.
He told The Messenger: “I don’t think he’ll tour again. But he’s gunning to do one-off shows – like festivals, gigs, things like that.
“He’s not done yet!”
Ozzy suffers from a rare form of Parkinson’s and last year underwent “life-altering” surgery to remove and realign a series of pins in his neck and back from a 2003 quad biking accident.
In June, the Black Sabbath frontman went under the knife to have a filter removed from his artery, after the threat of blood clots hitting his major organs was reduced.
Jack has now told how Ozzy is doing “really well” following his latest operation, and he has “no more nerve issues”.
The 38-year-old star added: “There were a few hiccups, but he’s doing good.
“He’s got no more pain, no more nerve issues.”
Jack’s comments about his father’s touring come after Ozzy insisted in September that he wanted to “go back on the road”.
He told Metal Hammer magazine at the time: “I’m getting myself fit.
“I’ve done two albums fairly recently [2020’s ‘Ordinary Man’ and 2022’s ‘Patient Number 9’], but I want to do one more album and then go back on the road.”
Ozzy’s comments came after he revealed in February that he had retired from touring.
He said in a statement: “This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans. As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine.
“My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.”
Addressing his fans, he went on: “I am honestly humbled by the way you’ve all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time, but in all good conscience, I have now come to the realisation that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required. Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F**** ME UP, more than you will ever know.”

‘My Little Mix bandmates were my comfort blanket’: Perrie Edwards has ‘come out of her shell’ working on debut solo album

OHMYGOSSIP — Perrie Edwards has “come out of her shell” working on her debut solo album.
The former Little Mix star has been busy penning tunes with a group of hitmakers and has admitted that she has had to build her confidence working with co-writers instead of the “comfort blanket” of her former bandmates.
In a video update on Instagram, she quipped: “So update on the album. It’s finished!!! … no, I’m joking.”
Perrie continued: “I think I’m in a very good place for it right now. It’s been an amazing process, I’ve met so many incredible writers, incredible producers. People I’ve worked with before, new people… it’s just been really fun I’ve loved it. (It’s) been a very different process I would say to being in the band.
“I think it kind of has brought me out of my shell a lot.
“Because I used to kind of use them as my comfort blanket in the studio. It’s quite intimidating writing with amazing writers and producers in the room, if you have an idea, you’re like ‘What about this?!’ and you feel a bit silly.”
She added: “So I have had to come out of my shell a lot, and I think going into the process, I sat down with my label and I was like look, I don’t know if I want to write that much, I don’t know I’m a very good writer. I’ve also been with the girls, so I don’t know if I’m that great at it. I don’t know!”
Perrie reportedly lined up a staggering 11 producers and songwriters to work with her on her upcoming new material because she’s determined to offer fans “the best” music she can.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper’s No Filter column in June: “Perrie has a revolving door of hitmakers at her home studio in Cheshire, writing with everyone from Raye to legendary Steve Mac – who boasts 31 number one singles int he UK alone – as well as obscure US rock band Before You Exit.
“She’s experimenting with every sound out there and churning out hits.
“Only the best will make the cut – she’s ensuring fans won’t be disappointed.”
Perrie – who has two-year-old son Axel with fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – has already registered a track called ‘Same Place, Different View’ with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

Kiss to live stream last ever show

OHMYGOSSIP — Kiss are to live stream their last ever show.
The veteran rockers are bringing their stage career to an end with the finale of their ‘The End of the Road Tour’ at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 2 and they have now revealed fans all over the world will be able to join them via pay-per-view to see the band rock out together one last time.
The band shared the news in a statement posted on Instagram which read: “50 years of Rock ‘n’ Roll. 1 Final Show. Rock out with @kissonline one last time! Their final concert ever, LIVE from @thegarden, streaming exclusively worldwide on PPV.COM.”
Fans in the US and Canada will pay a one-off fee of $39.99 while international viewers will have to hand over $14.99 to watch the concert.
Kiss kicked off their final tour back in 2019 but was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year they confirmed their final show would take place in the Big Apple because it was where they started their career.
In a statement, they explained: “KISS was born in New York City. On 23rd Street. Half a century ago. It will be a privilege and an honour to finish touring at Madison Square Garden, 10 blocks and 50 years from where we first started.”
Bassist Gene Simmons, 73, previously insisted he didn’t know at what point the tour would end. He told Chaoszine magazine: “We don’t know. We’ve never retired before. This is our first time. It’s like painting a painting or writing a book. When somebody says, ‘When is it gonna be finished?’ You’re in the middle of it; you don’t know.”

Giles Martin happy to ‘rip off’ dad George’s production style for new Beatles track Now and Then

OHMYGOSSIP — Giles Martin was happy to “rip off” his dad, the late George Martin, for the new Beatles song.
The producer was approached by surviving group member Sir Paul McCartney with a demo for ‘Now And Then’ and after discussing what they wanted to to with the track, they decided to go for a string arrangement of the sort his late dad, who was known as the Fifth Beatle because of his work producing the group’s moving, was best known for.
Speaking about the track – which uses Artificial Intelligence technology to reunite surviving members Paul and Sir Ringo Starr with late bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison through old recordings – Giles told The Sun newspaper: “Paul played me what he’d started working on from the ’94 demo plus the extras he’d already done — new bass, piano, the guitar solo. Then we discussed whether to do more things with it.”
Giles brought in arranger Ben Foster to assist and they recorded musicians in Los Angeles, who believed they were working on a solo project for Paul.
Giles continued: “We started off with a 22-piece string section. But eventually I cut it down to eight for most of the song — a double string quartet of four violins, two violas and two cellos.
“I was thinking, ‘What would dad have done?’ And I know he would have said, ‘You have to serve the song.’
“So yeah, if I wanted to rip off my dad, do it for ‘Now And Then’ by The Beatles.”
The song also features “oohs” and “aahs” sampled from Beatles hits ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘Because’, and ‘Here, There And Everywhere’, but Giles revealed Paul took some persuading to have them added to the track.
He said: “Paul was reticent about that, understandably so, because he didn’t want some gimmicky thing.
“But I just thought, ‘The Beatles would do oohs here and I can’t get The Beatles to do them because two of the oohs are no longer with us.’
“So I said to Paul, ‘Let me just try it because I think it will sound right.’ He liked the idea in the end — it works for the song.”
The song is on course to give the group their 18th number one single and Giles believes although it has retained the band’s classic sound, he thinks it is well suited to who they could have been today.
He said: “’Now And Then’ does sound like a Beatles song but not one from back in the day.
“It’s more how a Beatles song would sound now because they’re older. We didn’t try to hide that.”

Jungkook on missing his BTS bandmates: ‘I felt the void of them not being next to me’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jungkook says the “synergy of BTS in 2025” will be “incredible”.
The South Korean boy band have been on a break since last summer due to the band members – also including RM, Suga, Jin, J-Hope, V, and Jimin – focusing on solo projects and some carrying out mandatory military service.
And Jungkook – who released his debut solo album, ‘Golden’, on November 3 – has admitted he is missing his bandmates and is excited about their reunion.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he said: “We were always together for so many years that I felt the void of them not being next to me. You know, I miss them… I think the synergy of BTS in 2025 will be incredible.”
Jungkook’s quote echoes that of his bandmate V, who said when they announced their break, their “synergy will be like no other” when they regroup.
On the loneliness of being a solo artist, Jungkook said: “Preparing as a solo artist and also working as a solo musician… there were times where I really missed BTS.
“When I was in the green room or alone on stage, or even while having meals with the staff, the absence of their presence next to me became so apparent. We had spent so many years together that their absence left a noticeable void.”
Announcing their hiatus, RM said it was time for them to work on their own, adding: “I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don’t give you time to mature.
“You have to keep producing music and keep doing something.”
J-Hope said: “I think we should spend some time apart to learn how to be one again. I hope you don’t see this as a negative thing and see it as a healthy plan. I think BTS will become stronger that way.”

Dua Lipa drops Houdini and reveals rest of album is ‘quite different’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa has teased that the other songs on her third studio album are “quite different” from ‘Houdini’.
The 28-year-old pop star has switched up her ‘Future Nostalgia’ disco era for the psychedelic comeback single, out now, but has revealed the rest of the record is varied, though they all have that “psychedelic throughline”.
She told iHeartRadio: “All other songs on the album are quite different, but they do have a very psychedelic throughline overall. ‘Houdini’ has so much electronic variety, but at same time it has a lot of interesting instrumentation and feels very organic as well…that’s something I really wanted to convey on the album.”
It was recently claimed that the ‘Levitating’ singer was to ditch her disco pop era in favour of music informed by “1970s-era psychedelia”.
And she did that with the help of psychedelic act Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and a bunch of other co-writers, who have collaborated throughout her upcoming record.
Kevin and Danny L. Harle served as producers.
In a statement, Dua said of ‘Houdini’: “This track represents the most light and freeing parts of my singledom.
“’Houdini’ is very tongue in cheek, exploring the idea of whether someone is really worth my while or if I’ll ghost them in the end. You never know where something may take you, that’s the beauty of being open to whatever life throws your way. I’m looking forward to sharing that feeling of defiant bliss with my fans.”
On the process of the new record – the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Future Nostalgia’ – she added: “A lot of this album was written in those joyous moments of absolute chaos and how I moved through the world with lightness and optimism of whatever the outcome may be.”

He continued: “The life that a song has is unpredictable and that’s the best part of making music, I think, is seeing where it goes. …I’m also thinking you’ve learned how to deal with anxiety and the suffering that’s in your thoughts better and you start to be able to be more in the moment with the process.
“I think we also have been playing really well live all of a sudden. I think these are best shows that we’ve ever played. The whole thing just feels, it feels like a new chapter. I know maybe we say that every time, but this time I really mean it.”

Linkin Park sued by former bassist over alleged unpaid royalties

OHMYGOSSIP — Linkin Park are being sued by the nu-metal group’s former bass player.
Kyle Christner has filed a lawsuit against Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Joe Hahn, and Warner Records for allegedly not paying him anything for his contributions to some of the ‘In The End’ group’s songs, according to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com.
Christner claims he joined the group when they signed their first major record deal and has not been paid for his work on their 1999 EP ‘Hybrid Theory’.
He also claims to have been let go in October 1999 for no reason.
The group – which featured late frontman Chester Bennington from 1999 until his death by suicide in 2017 – released a 20th-anniversary box set of ‘Hybrid Theory’ in 2020 without crediting Christner.
The lawsuit notes: “For example, he played bass on and collaborated in composing ‘Could Have Been,’ a song that had never previously been released in any form and now has nearly a million views on YouTube alone. An industry professional.”
It went on: “The Box set includes, among other things, rare and previously unreleased tracks on three collections (presented as compact disks in the physical edition) respectively titled Forgotten Demos, B-Side Rarities, and LPU Rarities.
“There is no other attribution to Christner in the Box Set, even though he plays on recordings on all three CDs and the EP.”
Christner insists he’s “never been paid a penny for his work with Linkin Park, nor has he been properly credited, even as Defendants have benefitted from his creative efforts.”
He also claims to have had contact with a member of the band’s management, who informed him he is allegedly owed royalties from the reissue of ‘Hybrid Theory’.
After he asked how much he could be paid, the representative allegedly didn’t respond further.
The lawsuit went on to accuse the group of having “wrongfully profited at Christner’s expense.”
Christener – who was only with the band between 1998 and 1999 – is seeking what he is owed and unknown damages.
