‘It looks promising! Take That confirm Las Vegas residency talks

OHMYGOSSIP — Take That are in talks over a Las Vegas residency.
The ‘Rule the World’ hitmakers – made up of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald – have admitted the chances of them performing in Sin City “look promising”, as they gear up to potentially land another number one album this week with recent release ‘This Life’.
Speaking at a live recording of their podcast ‘Take That: This Life’ at London’s Leicester Square, Gary said: “Las Vegas, it looks promising.”
Gary, 52 – who co-produced the band’s new album – also revealed the group have been putting “very exciting” plans in place for their UK tour, which begins in April.
He said: “There’s an invisible switch that happens when the album comes out and there’s nothing else you can do then, so your brain starts thinking about the tour immediately and within the last four days we’ve done the most work on the tour and it’s very, very exciting.”
‘This Life’ is the ninth studio album by Take That, and Gary dropped a huge hint that it could be followed by a 10th record.
He added: “We were sat together the other day and they were going through all the numbers (for the This Life album) at the label.
“And everything was looking great and they said to us, ‘How does it feel?’
“And we turn to one and other and went, ‘Well, it means we can do it again. It means we can make another record in a few weeks.’ ”
Howard, 55, admitted there is no reason why the ‘Never Forget’ hitmakers can’t keep making new music.
According to The Sun newspaper, he said: “People always ask, ‘Are you going to be like the Rolling Stones and keep going until that sort of age?’
“And I think, you know what, maybe in five or ten years there won’t be as many dance moves but I think if we carry on making great music I think we can carry on.”
However, Howard recently confessed he feels like the “weakest writer” in the band.
He told Music Week magazine: “I thought, ‘I’ve gotta come up with something great’, so I went off and did co-writes with people I felt comfortable with.
“We brought out stuff to the table, which was a very nerve-wracking for thing for me, where I’ve got to be prepared for criticism and I’m not very good at [taking] it.
“But luckily, I brought the right songs in. I always feel like the weakest writer out of the three of us.”
However, Gary has thrown his support behind Howard and insisted his friend is “the best version” of himself on the new album.
He added: “By saying he’s the weakest, Howard is touching on confidence.
“If I was going to say anything about this record being different, it’s that this is the best version of you I’ve ever seen.
“You brought the best songs I’ve ever heard you write.”

‘How can we not?’ Leigh-Anne Pinnock confirms Little Mix reunion plans

OHMYGOSSIP — Leigh-Anne Pinnock thinks Little Mix will reunite in five years.
The ‘Black Magic’ hitmakers only went on hiatus last year after their ‘Confetti Tour’ came to an end, but the 32-year-old star is already anticipating getting back together with bandmates Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall.
Speaking on the ‘Happy Place’ podcast, she teased: “We will definitely do a reunion. How can we not?
“Let’s enjoy this time now but in five years’ time we’ll get back together, make a load of money.”
The decision to split for now came in the wake of Leigh-Anne and her husband, footballer Andre Gray, welcoming twins into the world in August 2021, and Perrie and her soccer player fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having son Axel that same month.
Leigh-Anne previously admitted she can’t imagine how the dynamics of touring and promoting songs as a group would work with two members being mothers.
Speaking on The Face podcast, she said: “I think, as I say, 11 years in a group, there’s gotta come a time where you spread your own wings and sort of just stand on your own two feet.
“I think we all came to that sort of mutual decision and I think we’re just ready to see what the world has to offer for us just solo and individually.
“Also, me and Perrie having children, I genuinely I don’t know how it would work in that group dynamic with kids now. I just don’t understand how.”
Although Little Mix are no more at the moment, Leigh-Anne insisted that they will always be as “close” as “family” and will always support each other in their lives and solo projects.
She added: “”We’re so close, we’re literally like family and you can’t choose your family. They are just always going to be my sisters. Yeah, it’s weird and it’s hard, but yeah, it’s definitely the right thing to do.”

Corey Taylor shuts down ‘troll’ over Slipknot speculation

OHMYGOSSIP — Corey Taylor has dismissed the idea Slipknot have settled on their new drummer.
The ‘Psychosocial’ rockers shocked fans earlier this month by announcing the “creative decision” that longtime drummer Jay Weinberg was no longer part of the band after nine years behind the kit.
Former Venom Inc. drummer Jeramie Kling has been fueling speculation he could be the replacement, sharing a graphic of the heavy metal icon’s logo.
He captioned the picture: “Drumming is simply a matter of timing. Bring it to you. Invite the chaos.”
And just last week, he referenced the group’s ‘Heretic Anthem’ with a picture of a new snare drum and the hashtag “#im666”.
However, frontman Corey has shut down the rumours and insisted the musician isn’t even on the band’s radar.
Taking to X (forrly Twitter) on Monday (27.11.23), he wrote: “To everyone wondering about our new drummer… It’s not him.
“Stop letting him troll you. He’s not even on the list. #hesnot666 (sic)”
The remaining members of Slipknot previously confirmed Jay’s departure in a statement thanking him “for his dedication and passion over the past ten years”.
They continued: “No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honoured Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it.” The band vowed: “Slipknot is intent on evolving.
“The band has decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”
The drummer later admitted he had no idea he was going to be axed from the line-up.
In a post on Instagram, he wrote: “I was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after.
“However, I’ve been overwhelmed by – and truly grateful for – the outpouring of love and support I’ve received from this incredible community I consider to be my creative and artistic home.”

He added: “This festival is more than just a series of concerts – it’s a celebration of musical heritage and innovation.
“We invite music lovers of all ages to join us this June for what promises to be an unforgettable journey.”
Meanwhile, Sir Tom has continued to perform ‘Delilah’ despite a backlash as he defiantly belted out the song this summer at Cardiff Castle in Wales and other venues.
He publicly challenged a ban on choirs performing his grisly hit about a woman’s murder.
Addressing fans in Cardiff by questioning the Welsh Rugby Union’s decision to stop playing ‘Delilah’ at Wales matches, he said: “Who was the man who didn’t want us to sing ‘Delilah’?
“He stopped the choir from singing but he didn’t stop the crowd from singing it. And we will keep singing it too.”
He’s also said to have told fans: “You can’t stop us singing ‘Delilah’. Can you imagine?… they may stop the choir from singing it, but they haven’t stopped the crowd. Keep on singing it – and I’ll keep on singing it too.”

Joss Stone to play Royal Albert Hall

OHMYGOSSIP — Joss Stone is to play her first ever headline gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The singer will head to London next summer to perform a one-off show at the historic venue for the first time as a headliner after previously appearing there a number of times over the years.
The show takes place on July 8 with the Ticketmaster pre-sale going live on November at 10am with the general sale following on December 1 at 10am via Ticketmaster.co.uk.
Joss recently returned to the charts with her charity single ‘Golden’ which was recorded with the Change + Check choir as part of a breast cancer awareness campaign which is being backed by TV presenter Lorraine Kelly and her show ‘Lorraine’.
The single is dedicated Hannah Hawkins, 33, who worked as a producer on ‘Lorraine’ and recently passed away following a battle with breast cancer.
Joss previously admitted the song means a lot to her because her cousin also battled the disease.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she explained: “It’s a wonderful song. It means a lot to me, to all of us. Especially my cousin Jo, who has gone through breast cancer and she’s here today. She’s been the most inspiring person I know.”
‘Lorraine’ producer Helen Addis, who co-founded the Change + Check campaign, added: “It’s a real pinch-me moment and I cannot believe I’m sat on the sofa with this one [Joss].
“What is so powerful and so golden about it this year is that we’re doing it in memory of our dear, darling producer Hannah Hawkins. She lost her life a week ago today to secondary breast cancer.
“She was a dear friend of ours. We all love her and we’re going to miss her very, very much but we want to dedicate this to her, to Rory her little baby who’s barely nine weeks old and to her husband Tom.”
Proceeds from the single’s downloads will go to breast cancer charity Future Dreams.

Jennifer Lopez’s new album is a ‘musical experience’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez’s new album will be a “musical experience”.
The ‘Jenny From The Block’ star is due to release ‘This Is Me … Now’ next year and she’s revealed some more details about the record in a teaser video posted on her website which features a montage of clips including footage of Jennifer dancing in the rain and riding a motorcycle.
She captioned the clip: “This musical experience is a manifestation through music, film, and reality, of life’s journey on the search for truth about love.”
‘This Is Me … Now’ is a follow-up to her 2003 album ‘This Is Me … Then’ which was inspired by and dedicated to her partner Ben Affleck. The pair ended their engagement a year after the record’s release, but they got back together almost two decades later and married in 2022.
The second album is also dedicated to Affleck and explores their rekindled romance after they got back together.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 last year, she explained: “We captured me at this moment in time when I was reunited with the love of my life and we decided we were going to be together forever. The whole message of the album then is, ‘This love exists. This is a real love.’ Now I think what the message of the album is very much if you were wondering if you have, like me at times, lost hope, almost given up, don’t, because true love does exist and some things do last forever and that’s real.”
The singer admitted it was tough showing her vulnerable side in her new songs, but she is glad she was open and honest. Jennifer went on: “I want to put that message [of true love] out into the world and that does take a lot of vulnerability. But I couldn’t stop myself and some parts of it scare me. And I think parts of it scare Ben too. He’s like, ‘Oh, do you really want to say all this stuff?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t know how else to do it, baby’.”
Jennifer also revealed her husband is a big fan of the first record, adding: “He loves that album. He loves that music. He knows all of the words. You know what I mean? It’s crazy. He also was with me while I was creating it.”

Killing Joke guitarist Kevin ‘Geordie’ Walker dead at 64

OHMYGOSSIP — Killing Joke guitarist Kevin ‘Geordie’ Walker has died aged 64.
The musician – who was in the post-punk group from 1979 until 1996 before rejoining in 2002 – sadly passed away on Saturday (25.11.23) after suffering a stroke in Prague, leaving his bandmates “devastated”.
A statement on their official Instagram page read: “It is with extreme sadness we confirm that at 6:30am on 26th November 2023 in Prague, Killing Joke’s legendary guitarist Kevin “Geordie” Walker passed away after suffering a stroke, he was surrounded by family. We are devastated. Rest In Peace brother.”
Geordie joined the band – who had mainstream success in 1985 with both the studio album ‘Night Time’ and the single ‘Love Like Blood’ – after responding to an advert by frontman Jaz Coleman in the now-defunct Melody Maker magazine.
He was known for his unique style of playing and would tune his guitar a whole tone lower, once explaining: “It suits the resonance and the volume of the thing, and you can use heavier strings. I’ve got 58s on the bottom. Basically if I play an E-position chord, it’s D.”
The acclaimed guitarist was also in industrial groups The Damage Manual and Murder, Inc.
With Killing Joke – also comprising Paul Ferguson and Youth – he recorded 15 studio albums, the most recent being 2015’s ‘Pylon’.
The EP ‘Lord Of Chaos’ was released last year, whilst the new track ‘Full Spectrum Dominance’ arrived in March.
Tributes have flooded in for the rocker.
Faith No More’s Bill Gould posted to X – formerly Twitter: “RIP Geordie Walker, one of, if not THE, the most natural, intuitive, original guitarists I’ve ever seen.”
Ex-bassist for Public Image Ltd Jah Wobble wrote: “RIP GEORDIE WALKER.”

‘She is going to be everywhere in 2024’: Dua Lipa in talks for 2024 stadium tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa is reportedly in talks for a 2024 stadium tour.
The ‘Levitating’ hitmaker – who is also rumoured to be in talks to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival – could be set to graduate from arenas to stadiums next summer following the success of her 2022 ‘Future Nostalgia’ jaunt.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Dua is going to be everywhere in 2024 – currently her team are looking at pencilling in her first ever stadium shows next summer.
“Her 2022 Future Nostalgia tour had 12 arena shows in the UK so a couple of massive stadium gigs is definitely possible. Her star has only grown since then.
“Right now no dates are confirmed and locked in but it’s on the cards.”
The 28-year-old Grammy-winning pop star inspired a whole new generation with her seminal 2020 disco-pop LP ‘Future Nostalgia’, and as her third album campaign gets underway, her team says they are aiming to “change pop culture” again.
Warner’s Alex Burford recently told Music Week: “A successful Dua campaign is one that lasts a couple of years or more. We want more diamond records. We want streams of two billion plus. We want her to be the most streamed artist in the world.”
He added: “We went into the campaign thinking, ‘Judge us in two years’ and we want to have huge culturally important moments in that time, in the same way Future Nostalgia defined a particular time and became a really important album. The goal is not to have success in any one week, the goal is to change pop culture.”
So far, Dua has released the lead single ‘Houdini’ from the LP, which sees the star go from disco-pop to electronic psychedelic pop.
She recruited Kevin Parker of the Psychedelic outfit Tame Impala to co-produce the upcoming record alongside rave and electronic pioneer Danny L. Harle.
Meanwhile, Dua was thrilled to have bought back her publishing rights to her back catalogue, while encouraging young artists to get lawyered up.
Speaking to Audacy, she said: “I think it’s just something I’ve always wanted — to be in control of my own music.”
She added: “To be able to have all the rights back to my songs feels really good. It’s my life’s work, so it’s good to be the person to say what happens with it.”

Mr. Big Stuff singer Jean Knight dies aged 80

OHMYGOSSIP — R’n’B star Jean Knight has passed away aged 80.
The Grammy-nominated star – behind 70s funk hits ‘Mr. Big Stuff’ and ‘Think It Over’ – died of natural causes last Wednesday (22.11.23), her friend Bernie Cyrus confirmed.
The former Louisiana Music Commission director told Rolling Stone “She was the first person we appointed on the board when we took it over and we had a long relationship with her and she was just fabulous.
“She was always willing to get involved with good causes and help out.”
Bernie continued: “’Mr. Big Stuff’ — it was just so universal. People remember it. And look, so many people covered it. But nobody did it like Jean.”
The timeless classic was used across films and covered many times, including in the 2005 movie ‘Kinky Boots’ performed by soul singer Lyn Collins, and the 1994 Disney sports comedy-drama ‘D2: The Mighty Ducks’ sung by Martha Wash.
It spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Soul Singles chart and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart, behind ‘How Can You Mend a Broken Heart’ by The Bee Gees.
The New Orleans native’s career kick-started with her debut demo of Jackie Wilson’s ‘Stop Doggin’ Me Around’.
She was instantly signed to Jet Star and Tribe.
Jean continued working as a baker to fund her music career and was still making dough when she and producer Wardell Quezergue recorded her first big hit, ‘Mr. Big Stuff’, in Jackson, Mississippi.
The guaranteed hit would go on to be released on the famous Stax Records, went double-platinum, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Female R’n’B Vocal Performance.
Jean left Stax and wouldn’t have another hit until the next decade with ‘You Got the Papers (But I Got the Man)’, which was released on Atlantic Records.
In 2007, the ‘Do Me’ singer was inducted into the Louisiana Music Commission Hall of Fame.

Sir Tom Jones and Becky Hill set for Forest Live

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Tom Jones and Becky Hill have been confirmed for Forest Live 2024.
The Welsh music legend, 83, will headline High Lodge, Thetford Forest with support from Gabrielle on June 28, 2024, while the chart-topper heads to Delamere Forest on June 13.
Pre-sale tickets will be available at 9am on Thursday (30.11.23) before they go on general sale at 9am on Friday (1.12.23).
Rock legend Sting, 72, will top the bill on June 14, and Nile Rodgers and CHIC on June 15 at Delamere.
The former is also playing Thetford on June 22.
Pop star Anne-Marie, 32, recently announced a series of Forest Live shows at Sherwood Pines (June 22), Cannock Chase Forest (June 27), and Westonbirt Arboretum July 5).
The concerts help raise funds for Forestry England to maintain beautiful natural areas.
Meanwhile, Tom is continuing to perform ‘Delilah’ despite a backlash.
The ‘It’s Not Unusual’ hitmaker defiantly belted out the song this summer at Cardiff Castle in Wales and other venues after he publicly challenged a ban on choirs performing his grisly hit about a woman’s murder.
The 1968 ballad, written by Barry Mason, was removed from playlists at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff due to its lyrics describing a woman’s murder by her boyfriend after she is caught with another man.
Tom previously defended the song in 2014 amid calls to have it banned from being sung at rugby matches.
He said: “I love to hear it sung at rugby games. It makes me very proud to be Welsh.
“I think if they’re looking into the lyric about a man killing a woman, it’s not a political statement.
“It’s just something that happens in life that (a) woman was unfaithful to him and he just loses it.”

Tony Hadley used to get pelted by cookies on stage

OHMYGOSSIP — Tony Hadley used to get pelted by chocolate chip cookies.
The former Spandau Ballet star, 63, quickly learned the lesson not to tell people you really like something because you will be inundated with gifts of the said thing after he let slip on television how much he loves the sugary sweet treat.
Asked what his guilty pleasure is, Tony told Heat magazine: ” A chocolate chip cookie. I once said on a TV show that they were my favourite biscuit and I started getting them thrown at me while I was on stage.”
The ‘Gold’ hitmaker also revealed that he used to be massively into Techno in his younger days.
He recalled: “Ku Club [the world’s largest nightclub, now known as Privilege Ibiza] opened in 1979, I was there standing on a fountain, wearing a bandana, conducting all these people who were off their faces. We were actually the first UK pop band to perform there.”
These days, Tony’s teenage daughter Zara – whom he has with wife Alison Evers, as well as 11-year-old Genevieve – has gotten him into pop acts such as Zara Larsson and Mabel, and he is especially impressed by indie star Sam Fender.
The singer – who also has Toni, 27, MacKenzie, 31, and Thomas, 34, with his first wife Leonie Lawson – said: “My daughter Zara, who’s 16, is massively into music and has introduced me to artists like
Zara Larsson, Mabel and Sam Fender. Sam Fender is brilliant – you can really hear the Bruce Springsteen influence, and | love Springsteen.”

New details revealed in Hall + Oates lawsuit

OHMYGOSSIP — Daryl Hall is suing Hall + Oates bandmate John Oates over his plans to sell off his share of a joint venture.
The 77-year-old singer is embroiled in a legal battle against his former musical partner after filing a complaint on November 16, as well as a motion for a temporary restraining order.
While most of the details of the case have been sealed, Hall is aiming to prevent Oates selling his share of Whole Oats Enterprises LLP to Primary Wave IP Investment Management LLC until an arbitrator in a separately filed case is consulted.
Primary Wave has already owned “significant interest” in Hall and Oates’ music for more than 15 years.
According to the lawsuit, Hall opened an arbitration process on November 9 against Oates and the other defendants in the lawsuit, Oates’ wife, Aimee Oates, and Richard Flynn, in their roles as co-trustees of Oates’ trust.
Hall was asking for an order to preventing them from selling their part in Whole Oats Enterprises to Primary Wave Music.
The lawsuit alleges Oates’ team entered into a letter of intent with Primary Wave Music for the sale, and claims that their business agreement was disclosed to Primary Wave Music in violation of a confidentiality provision.
The case will be taken up at a November 30 court hearing.
The duo met in 1967 and began their musical collaboration three years later, releasing 18 studio albums since their 1972 debut LP ‘Whole Oats’ and have had six number one singles.
They last toured together in October 2022 but Daryl stressed he is currently more interested in “pursuing [his] own world”.
He told the Los Angeles Times: “I don’t have any plans to work with John. I mean, whatever. Time will tell.
“Perceptions changed, life changed, everything changed.
“I’m more interested in pursuing my own world. And so is John.
“That takes me back to what I was saying about duos. I couldn’t just say what I think, I had to add what he thinks.”

Snoop Dogg prefers recording in a ‘dark and moody space’

OHMYGOSSIP — Snoop Dogg likes recording in a “dark and moody” space alone.
The ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ rapper hated the “pressure” of having to perform in front of others when he was working with Dr. Dre.
Speaking to Latto for Rolling Stone magazine, he said: “At my studio, I got a room called the Mothership, and it’s like a spaceship. I like it real dark and moody. But when I go work with Dr. Dre, [he’s] got a microphone [outside the booth]. So, you got to rap with everybody right here. You say some wack [thing] or it ain’t right, you going to know right now. It’s pressure.”
Latto, 24, admitted that would be challenging for her as well.
Offering his advice, Snoop says no matter how difficult a situation is always treat people with “love” – even if they come at you with hate.
Snoop replied: “It’s pressure. And I like pressure. I want to be challenged. I’ve done so much, and I’ve re-created myself so many different times. What challenge am I up for now? Who can produce me and make me better, to where I don’t have to think of everything but just sit back and let you produce me?
My best advice that I lean on in a tough situation is to always put love at the centre of everything. I been in positions where I had gang members and goons and goblins wanting to do [stuff] to me. Instead of me answering the call [with violence], I answered with love.”
On how he bounced back when he was dissed, Snoop, 52, added: “There was a time in my neighborhood when certain OGs didn’t agree with how I was doing what I was doing.
“Tried to bad-mouth me. So instead of me going to the hood and ‘pop, pop, pop,’ I went to the hood and grabbed some gangsters from the east side, the west side, the north side that had never been together before, and did a project and created a brotherhood.
“I just answered with love rather than let me go down there, show you that I can keep it gangster. I can keep it business, and I can keep the homies alive.”
