‘Never Say Never Again’: Bonnie Tyler would love to record a Bond song

OHMYGOSSIP — Bonnie Tyler would love to record a James Bond theme – but only if it’s the right song.
The ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’ hitmaker famously rejected an offer to record ‘Never Say Never Again’ for the 1983 spy movie of the same name starring the late Sir Sean Connery as 007, with Lani Hall, 78, taking her place.
However, the Welsh singer, 72, has no regrets because the tune didn’t turn out to be a hit.
She told Record Collector magazine: “I would absolutely love to record a James Bond theme, but I didn’t like the song for the film and I can’t sing a song I don’t believe in.
It was the only theme that never became a hit, so I think I made the right choice.”
Elsewhere, Bonnie revealed her record label thought she was “mad” to ask the late ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’ songwriter Jim Steinman to work with her.
She recalled: “I knew it would work with Jim Steinman, but my label thought I was mad. I said to them, ‘What’s the worst that can happen? He says no.’ They didn’t want to ask him but I pushed and in the end they did. He knew [1977’s] ‘It’s A Heartache’, which had been a hit in the States. He got me and my manager to go to New York and he sat at the piano and started playing this song and [Canadian singer, Rory Dodd started singing it and that was Total Eclipse Of The Heart. I couldn’t believe he wanted to give it to me. I enjoyed every minute of working with him.
I wouldn’t change a thing about any of it.”
Jim – who is also known for his work with late ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ hitmaker Meat Loaf – also wrote Bonnie’s other huge hit, 1984’s ‘Holding Out for a Hero’, for the soundtrack to the musical drama ‘Footloose’.

George Harrison was mentored by Donovan after ‘years in the shadow’ of John Lennon and Paul McCartney

OHMYGOSSIP — Donovan was the late Beatle George Harrison’s songwriting mentor.
The Scottish musician – whose real name is Donovan Phillips Leitch – used to hang out with The Beatles and pulled guitarist George to one side to teach him “a few tricks” so he could pen his own tunes after being “in the shadow” of John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney.
Speaking to Record Collector magazine, he said: “I became George’s mentor for songwriting. He was in the shadow of John and Paul for so many years and I said, “Look, I’ll show you a few tricks, how to encourage the songs.” There’s a way to encourage the song to come.
You can tease it, like fishing. I told him how to play a chord then put your ear on the guitar, listen to the open chord and try a tempo.
You can hear melodies, believe it or not.
Melodies appear, but you’ve got to be quick to catch them.”
The ‘Sunshine Superman’ hitmaker – who was a prominent figure of the Flower Power era – also recalled how “dangerous” it was playing shows with little security to stop fans ramming toward him or The Fab Four.
Sharing the difficult sides to fame, he said: “Running down the street like The Beatles in A Hard Day’s Night was part of it, too. And there was nil security, even for The Beatles. It was horrible. During the big shows in America, the DJs would come on halfway through – in puce lemon green and bright red costumes – and ask if people were enjoying themselves. Then as soon as the last song was over, they’d turn the lights on, say goodnight, and get in their cars. And what would happen? The whole audience would swarm towards the stage. That became a big problem.
“So, did I enjoy fame? It was dangerous at times, but at least I was solo. It was harder for four or five guys to get into a van than it was for me. But the whole point was that it was working: the music was getting out there. And nobody could say a blind bit against us, because it was successful. So, whatever we wanted to do was OK. As long as there was a hit single sneaking around, then the game was on.”

Kesha teases new music is ‘coming soon’ after being freed from Dr. Luke’s label

OHMYGOSSIP — Kesha has teased new music is “coming soon” after she parted ways with Dr. Luke’s record label – six months after the pair settled their long-running court fight.
The 36-year-old singer departed Kemosabe – which is distributed by RCA Records – last month and she was papped in Los Angeles holding a cardboard sign reading “NEW MUSIC COMING SOON!”.
A source told Variety that Kesha had also “amicably” split from her management company, Vector Management.
Kesha’s last contractual album with the label was ‘Gag Order’, her fifth studio record, which she released in May.
The ‘Tik Tok’ hitmaker and music producer Dr. Luke, 50, had been locked in a legal dispute for years after she filed a lawsuit accusing him of drugging and raping her after a party, prompting the music executive- who denied the allegation – to file a defamation case.
But in June, they settled out of court after nearly 10 years, just weeks before they were set to go to trial.
The pair said in a joint statement shared on Kesha’s Instagram stories: “Kesha and Dr Luke have agreed to a resolution of the lawsuit, and have agreed to issue and post a joint statement regarding that resolution.”
It went on to give two separate statements from the pair.
Kesha, previously known as Ke$ha, said in her section of the post in white capital letters on a black background: “Only God knows what happened that night. As I have always said, I cannot recount everything that happened.
“I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one.
“I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”
Dr. Luke, born Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, maintained his innocence in his statement below Kesha’s message.
He said: “While I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain that nothing happened.
“I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone.
“For the sake of my family, I have vigorously fought to clear my name for nearly 10 years.
“It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha well.”
Kesha had claimed Dr. Luke’s alleged attack came after a party in 2005.
She said he had been sexually, physically and verbally abusive during the decade-long period they worked together, and that his behaviour sparked her eating disorders.
Her lawsuit also alleged the singer had been abused to the point where she “nearly lost her life”.
Dr. Luke claimed Kesha had legally defamed him with a “false and shocking” allegation that he drugged and raped her.
He said she made the claims against him as leverage to secure a more lucrative deal – which the singer denied, arguing the producer’s defamation case was an effort to silence a victim.

Paramore’s future remains unknown as they pull out of Los Angeles gig

OHMYGOSSIP — Paramore have further fuelled speculation about their future as a band after cancelling a performance next week.
The pop rock trio – comprising Hayley Williams, 35, Zac Farro, 33, and Taylor York, 34 – will no longer perform at the iHeartRadio ALTer EGO concert in Los Angeles on January 13.
A social media statement on the band’s Instagram Story read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Paramore can no longer attend and perform at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO on January 13. The band apologises for any inconvenience.”
The ‘Still Into You’ band already concerned fans when they wiped their social media profiles clean and took their official website offline.
Only Hayley has stripped her personal accounts and website.
In a recent interview with Uproxx, Paramore admitted there is a “level of uncertainty” about their future.
Hayley said: “The only thing that matters is we will still get to be each other’s community.”
Zac added: “I just hope we can keep building the Paramore empire and then rule the world.”
The ‘Misery Business’ rockers were forced to cancel a bunch of shows on their North American tour after singer Hayley suffered a lung infection, but she confirmed they had been making new music.
The band shared studio photos with their Instagram followers, and Hayley said on Discord: “We’ve been off the road for a couple weeks now… mainly in LA.
“Thankfully got some downtime but we put some work in too. It felt good to get back into a studio. More of that once we get home to Nashville.”
The trio were keen to “get back to making things” after releasing their sixth album ‘This Is Why’ earlier this year.
She added: “Zac, Taylor, and I just want to get back to making things. We’ve been craving that for a while now.
“Not only the creative process but the layer(s) of insulation that can come with the creative process.”
Paramore are due to support Taylor Swift when her ‘Eras Tour’ hits Europe in 2024.

Lauren Jauregui confirms she’s finally set to drop her debut album this year

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Jauregui has confirmed her new album is coming in 2024.
The former Fifth Harmony star has revealed to a fan on X – formerly Twitter- that her debut solo LP will be out sometime this year.
The user asked: “Next year? Meaning 2025? Or like later this year?”
And Lauren clarified: “Lmao my bad I keep forgetting we’re in 2024 already it’s coming 2024.”
The exciting album update comes after Lauren shared how she has grown “a lot” since becoming a solo artist.
Lauren describes her solo material as being “personal, introspective, and reflective”.
The 27-year-old singer also revealed she is inspired by women who “express themselves and their truth”.
She shared: “I’m inspired by all kinds of incredible artists that have shaped my ear and the way I hear and complete my songs.
“I love singer/songwriters so definitely Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey, Hayley Williams, Alicia Keys, PINK!, Shakira, John Mayer, Jhene Aiko, Summer Walker, Kehlani, SZA, Lana Del Rey.
“I’m inspired greatly by Beyonce and the way she executes background vocals and communicates an entire vision and pulls that into her performances.
“I’m inspired by Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone … I just love women who express themselves and their truth.”
The singer shot to stardom as a teenager in girl group Fifth Harmony, but Lauren believes she’s matured a lot over recent years.
Reflecting on her musical journey, Lauren added to GALORE magazine: “I’ve released two EPs and four singles on my own. Plus some really beautiful collaborations with my friends, like Snow Tha Product and Halsey. I think I keep getting more and more comfortable expressing myself and like with anything, practice makes for perfection.
“I’ve been writing since before I put it into song format so I think just getting clearer and better at expressing myself through music has been the biggest growth arc for me.
“I’m definitely in the studio now making new things … like I said all these songs were written back in the 2018/2019 era, so I’ve grown a lot as a woman since then and I think that’s reflected in the music I’m making right now.”

Ace Frehley says his new album will make KISS ‘look like imbeciles’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ace Frehley claims his new album will make his former KISS bandmates “look like imbeciles”.
The ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ group’s former guitarist and co-vocalist says he’s getting his own back on Gene Simmons, 74, and Paul Stanley, 71, for trying to “destroy my reputation” by releasing his best music yet with his upcoming solo collection ‘10,000 Volts’, which arrives on February 4.
He told Guitar World: “[Co-frontmen] Paul [Stanley]and Gene [Simmons] have tried to destroy my reputation over the years – we know that. And unfortunately for them, ‘10,000 Volts’ is going to make them look like imbeciles.
“KISS hasn’t put out a record since 2002.
“Here I am, 17 years sober and it’s my sixth record since leaving KISS. I keep chugging along, and nobody can stop me.
“Creating amazing music is the best way to combat someone putting you down. That’s how I shut them up.”
Ace’s latest swipe at his old bandmates comes after he recently slammed their avatars for their upcoming hologram shows in 2027.
The 72-year-old axe-slayer told Rock Antenne: “I don’t get this avatar thing that they’re gonna do.”
He continued: “I mean, I saw some of it on a video on YouTube last night. It kind of looked like it, you know, was geared towards children. And it’s not rock and roll. I get up on stage without backing tracks, plug my guitar into a Marshall and go. That’s it. It’s always been that way and always will be.”
Gene had reassured fans that the KISS avatars will “get better”.
After the veteran rockers hung up their platform boots following their final concert at Madison Square Garden in New York on December 2, they surprised fans at the end of the gig by debuting digital versions of themselves created by the teams behind the lucrative ABBA Voyage hologram show in London.
And during a Q+A at Electric Lady Studios in New York, co-vocalist and bass player Gene claimed millions of dollars are being pumped into the project.
He told one fan: “There’s so much being planned, even beyond my comprehension. But they’re spending, oh, about 200 million [dollars] to take it to the next level.”

Elton John and Brandi Carlile appear to have recorded an album together

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John has seemingly recorded an album with Brandi Carlile.
The music legend’s pal, Pete Townshend of The Who, 78, has revealed Elton, 76, and the 42-year-old Americana star recorded a collaborative collection in just two weeks in Los Angeles.
Elton has more time on his hands since quitting touring after his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour.
Speaking to Clash, Pete let slip: “Elton is so fraught with loss at not knowing what to do next. He’s just gone over to LA to make an album with Brandi Carlile. They made an album together in two weeks. He says it’s one of the best things they’ve ever done.”
Elton and Brandi are longtime friends and she joined him to perform ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ at his final US concert at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in November 2021.
The pair also recorded the duet ‘Simple Things’ for Elton’s 2021 ‘Lockdown Sessions’ album amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ‘Rocketman’ himself teased during songwriting partner Bernie Taupin’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in November that the pair had finished an LP that will “surprise” fans.
Meanwhile, Pete revealed Elton regularly video calls him.
He told the publication: “He appears on FaceTime every other morning… often when I’m in bed! ‘Hello, it’s Elton!’
“He’s great company. And he’s very smart. But he’s also a wonderful musicologist. See, when he attaches onto somebody, he’s sincere about it, I still find myself pretending to like people that I’m not sure that I like because they appear to be unbelievably cool.”

Romy teases The xx comeback album is ‘feeling fresh’

OHMYGOSSIP — Romy has teased that The xx’s comeback album is “feeling fresh”.
The electronic trio – completed by Jamie xx and Oliver Sim – have been back in the studio together for the first time since their 2017 LP ‘I See You’, and although it’s “early” days, the project “moves” their vision along but is still in keeping with their original sound.
Speaking to NME, Romy said of working with her bandmates again: “Yeah it’s fun, it’s quite different being in the studio with The xx.
“I think Oliver [Sim] and Jamie [xx] and I have all tried new things and learned a lot from different projects and I think that’s quite healthy to be like, ‘What have you learned? What should we do now?’”
She added: “It’s still pretty early [but] I still think you’ll be able to tell it’s us, but I think we’re excited to move it on and keep it feeling fresh.”
In October 2022, Oliver reassured fans that while they are each busy with their respective solo careers, they would eventually regroup to record new tunes.
Appearing on the Consequence’s ‘Kyle Meredith With…’ podcast, Oliver said: “The xx will always be my home and will always be my priority. And normally I wouldn’t speak for Romy [Madley Croft] and Jamie [xx], but I know they feel the same. I think all of us doing our solo projects just makes me excited. It’s like, how is this gonna change the band? What have we all learned independently? And nothing is recorded at the moment, but there is more music from The xx, definitely.”
In summer 2018, the bassist-and-vocalist gave an update on the progress of their new material.
He said: “I’ve done a lot of work with Romy in the last couple of weeks.
“I’ve done a lot of work with Jamie, but we haven’t had that moment yet of all three of us being in the room together.”
He added that they’d been working on individual projects “as if we’re making our own records”.
Away from the band, singer-and-guitarist Romy has co-written a number of tracks, including Dua Lipa and Silk City’s mega-hit ‘Electricity’, while Jamie co-wrote Florence + The Machine’s ‘Big God’ and is listed as a producer on Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus’ ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’.
Romy released her debut solo album ‘Mid Air’ to acclaim in September 2023.
Oliver released his debut album in 2022.
In 2022, Romy teamed up with Fred Again… on ‘Lights Out’, while Jamie has been touring and playing festivals.

Rage Against The Machine appear to have split again

OHMYGOSSIP — Rage Against The Machine have seemingly split again.
Drummer Brad Wilk has claimed he and his bandmates – Tim Commerford, Zack de la Rocha and Tom Morello – “will not be touring or playing live again” as a band.
He announced on Instagram: “I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the cancelled RATM shows.
“So, while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again.
“I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”
He signed off the post: “Bottom of my heart… Thank you to every person who has ever supported us.”
The other members of the group are yet to comment.
The ‘Killing in the Name’ group had to cancel their 2022 UK and Europe dates and North American shows in 2023 after frontman Zack tore his Achilles tendon while performing,
Guitarist Tom recently insisted he didn’t know if they would be going back out on the road, insisting “we’re in [a] time of healing”.
Asked if they will tour again once Zack recovers, he told Rolling Stone magazine: “We’ll see. If there is to be any more shows, we will announce it as a band. I don’t know. I know as much as you do, honestly. Right now we’re in time of healing.”
And he was unsure if they were on an indefinite hiatus.
Pressed on the status of the group, he replied: “There is no term. Rage Against The Machine is like the ring in Lord of the Rings. It drives men mad. It drives journalists mad. It drives record industry people mad. They want it. They want the thing, and they’re driven mad.
“If there are Rage shows, if there are not Rage shows, you’ll hear from the band. I do not know. When there is news, it will come from a collective statement from the band. There is no news.”
He further apologised for the lack of information but said he and his bandmates hadn’t been discussing musical matters.
He said elsewhere in the interview: “The conversations I’ve had with band members since the tour have been about life. It’s hard for me to explain…
“I don’t have news for you on that. I apologise. There’s nothing internal in our discussions that says either yes or no.”
The ‘Killing In The Name’ hitmakers first briefly broke up in late 1994, due to creative differences, before regrouping for the KROQ Weenie Roast in June 1995.
In 2000, Zack quit the group because their “decision-making process completely failed”.
And they have had several periods of timeout over the years.

‘I know for some fans this probably makes you feel a little deflated’: Iggy Azalea abandons new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Azalea has scrapped her new album because she hasn’t got the “urge” to finish it.
The ‘Fancy’ hitmaker is “sorry” to have to let her fans down but she has fallen in love with her “design and creative” work – which she is set to reveal to the world – and no longer feels the desire to write songs.
Iggy, 33, also denied claims she was “bullied away from music”.
In a lengthy X (Twitter) post, she shared: “This is gonna be long….
so only bother reading if you love me.
(If you still bother anyway you’re a weirdo who has been warned.)
“I’ve always been someone who finds my joy in being creative and seeing my ideas come to life.
For a long time I used music to deliver my big crazy ideas to the world.
“I know a lot of people have this idea that I was “bullied away from music” and that’s something I’ve always laughed at because I’d never be bullied out of anything!
In fact, I’m too stubborn.
I think I’ve even resisted changes within myself at times, purely because I don’t like being viewed as someone who quits. (sic)”
She continued: “In truth what I’ve known for a long time is that I feel more passionately about design and creative direction than I do about song writing.
To many of you that’s no shock to read.
It shows in my work. Haha!
Jokes aside, i do spend a lot more time on that part of things… because Im most confident at that. (sic)”
The OnlyFans creator then dealt the blow: “That’s why I want to let you know that I’m not going to finish my album.
It’s been paused for a few months while I was giving direction for a different project and in truth I just haven’t felt the urge to go back to it.
I feel really happy and passionate in my day to day life when my minds focused on that and so I want to stick to what’s undeniably best for me.”
The rapper – who has three-year-old son Onyx with ex Playboi Carti – admitted that stepping away from music is “best for me” and that it’s “more important I don’t let myself down”.
She wrote: “Cant wait to start sharing some of the things I’ve been involved in creating and hoping you’ll see my quirk and humor in anything I touch!
“I know for some fans this probably makes you feel a little deflated –
I’m sorry to let you down.
But, it’s more important I don’t let myself down.
I hope youll understand.
“Talk soon! I Love you (sic)”
Iggy’s last studio album was 2021’s ‘The End of an Era’.

The immersive concert, Elvis Evolution, will head to London in November, with the digital avatar version of the late King of Rock and Roll set to perform as old photos of the music icon are projected onscreen.
The AI show comes from British immersive entertainment firm Layered Reality and Authentic Brands Group, the latter of which owns the Elvis Presley estate.
Andrew McGuinness, founder and chief executive of Layered Reality, said: “Elvis Evolution is a next-generation tribute to the musical legend that is Elvis Presley.

“It’ll be a memory-making experience that will be a bucket-list item for Elvis fans and admirers around the world; people can step into the world of Elvis, walk in his shoes and celebrate his extraordinary musical legacy.”
Fans will also be able to continue celebrating the ‘Suspicious Minds’ hitmaker at the afterparty with a DJ playing all of Elvis’ hits and there will also be a restaurant onsite.
There are already plans for the show to come to venues in Las Vegas, Berlin and Tokyo.
Marc Rosen, president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group, which owns Elvis Presley Enterprises, added: “We’re thrilled to partner with Layered Reality to give fans a new, immersive way of experiencing Elvis Presley’s life and legacy.”
The Swedish superstars’ lucrative hologram show, ABBA Voyage, boosted the UK economy, contributing a whopping £322.6 million.
Their life-size avatars called ‘Abbatars’ perform at a purpose-built arena in east London.
KISS are also following in the ‘Money, Money, Money’ hitmakers’ footsteps, with the retired rockstars set to launch their own avatars in 2027.

Meanwhile, Nas X has been in the studio with PinkPantheress.
The music star – who has previously duetted with Billy Ray Cyrus and Jack Harlow – and the ‘Boys A Liar’ singer are both viral stars of the TikTok generation, and they could be about to collaborate.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “PinkPantheress and Lil Nas are both working on albums at the moment and they really clicked after being introduced.
“They have a lot in common and have been in the studio together.
“It is yet to be seen what they have come up with but they’ve certainly been inspiring each other.”
Nas X shot to fame when his country trap hit ‘Old Town Road’ went viral in early 2019 before climbing the charts.
Pantheress, 23, reached number two in the UK and Australia with the viral tune ‘Boys A Liar’, while the 2023 remix featuring rapper Ice Spice became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking in the top five.

Sharon Osbourne open to Ozzfest revival

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Osbourne could revive Ozzfest as a touring festival.
The 71-year-old star’s husband Ozzy Osbourne has asked her if the heavy metal showcase – which was last held in 2018 with the Black Sabbath frontman headlining – could ever make a comeback as a run of shows rather than just one night.
Speaking on ‘The Osbournes Podcast’, she said: “Yeah, sure. Of course.”
Their daughter Kelly pointed out that artist’s mangers have to start being “realistic” with booking fees.
Sharon replied: “Why is it when it comes to us that everybody thinks that we are trillionaires, and so that every manager who wants their band on our festival wants one of the trillions they think we’ve got to put on the festival?”
Ozzfest was created by Ozzy and Sharon, who also acts as the ‘War Pigs’ rocker’s manager, back in 1996 as a two-day festival.
The following year marked the start of the touring dates, although by the time the 2018 edition rolled round, it was just one night at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
Ozzy was on the line-up alongside the likes of Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Korn’s Jonathan Davis.
Last month, the 75-year-old rock icon – who has been open about his health issues over the past – was forced to shut down hoaxes claiming he had died.
Speaking on the Boxing Day episode of his family’s podcast, he said: “The thing on YouTube, it’s got ‘Celebrities Who Died Today’, and there’s a picture of me.”
He quipped: “’m not dead! I’m not really dead, just a little flesh wound.
Last year, Ozzy scrapped all UK and European tour dates as he recovered from spinal surgery following a fall in 2019.
He has admitted he may have to “accept the fact” he will never be able to tour again, but he’s open to doing one-off shows our festivals.
Addressing the death rumours, he teased: “I’m not dead, I’m not going anywhere. And I’m gonna go and do some more gigs before I’m finished, anyway.”
