‘Keen to get out there!’ Jennifer Lopez drops hint she could go on first global tour for 12 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez has dropped a huge hint she could be set for her first global tour in 12 years.
The 54-year-old singer and actress is gearing up to release her ninth studio album, ‘This Is Me… Now’, on February 16th, and she believes her upcoming record is well “suited” to a “live experience”.
She told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “I kept telling my team, I was like, ‘You have to understand, I’m going to perform these songs. I’m going to bring them to life onstage, and it needs to be down in the ground. We got to dig. And they understood it and they gave it to me.
“I really want to [tour]. I believe that there’s nothing that’s more suited to being live and having a live experience than this record.
“I don’t have any official kind of ‘this is it right now,’ but I am very keen to get out there and perform this music for sure.”
Jennifer’s last big run of shows was her ‘It’s My Party Tour’ in 2019, when she played gigs in the US, Canada, Israel, Russia, Turkey, Spain, and Egypt.
The star is said to sing about her love for her husband Ben Affleck, 51, on her latest song ‘Can’t Get Enough’, the first single from her forthcoming album.
According to The Sun newspaper, she sings: “Is this real life? Too good to be true.
“Take me all night. I can feel the passion in your eyes. I’m still in love with you.”
Elsewhere, she sings about their love being “so good” she “can’t believe it”, adding: “Don’t wanna share with no one else. You’re always the one I needed.
“Don’t gotta keep a secret, but I’ll let you keep me to yourself.
“It’s the way you love me. The way you touch me. It’s the way you look at me.
“I can’t get enough of you boy.”
The couple – who rekindled their relationship in 2021, having initially split in 2004 – tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, two decades after first getting engaged.
Jennifer’s new album will drop along with her new Prime Video release ‘This Is Me Now: A Love Story’.
The star recently described the project, in which she shares a “visual reimagining” of her love life with fans, including her relationships with the likes of Marc Anthony and Alex Rodriguez, as “the most revealing” of her career.
She previously said: “It’s the most personal scary project that I have ever done.
“It is a real film, it is a real journey, it is a real story. It’s the most revealing thing I’ve done.
“I don’t think anyone knows anything about my true personal life.”

Jay-Z open to Super Bowl gig in future

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay-Z is open to headlining the Super Bowl halftime show in the future.
The ’99 Problems’ hitmaker and his company Roc Nation became the NFL’s live music entertainment strategists in 2019 but he admitted he thought it would be “selfish” to book himself as one of the acts performing during the showpiece game, though enough time has now passed that he’d consider taking the prestigious gig.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “To get on stage for the Super Bowl halftime show? I don’t know. I thought it would be selfish to pick myself too early, but maybe one year.”
Next month, Usher will headline the segment and Jay is confident the ‘Confessions’ hitmaker has what it takes to pull off a great show.
He said: “He gonna take his rightful place. He’s one of the greatest performers that we’ve seen in our time and I think he’ll take his rightful place.”
Usher – who joined Black Eyed Peas on stage during their 2011 Super Bowl gig – previously admitted he had been waiting some time to get the call to headline the sporting show.
He told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “I think being able to see performances from artists like Michael [Jackson], you know, eventually Prince, and then even more modern-day artists… I was like, ‘Man, at some point I need to get a call with what’s going on now.’
“But I’m really happy that I’m joining that short list of legacy artists from my genre who deserve this moment.
“And I’m really happy that Jay-Z and also Roc Nation really put thought into making certain that they could bring to the world this kind of experience. It is definitely going to be a moment to remember.”
The 45-year-old singer has also enlisted the services of his 14-year-old son Naviyd to be his “musical director” for the show, which takes place at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on 11 February.
Speaking on ‘Today With Hoda and Jenna’, he spilled: “The greatest list I received is actually from my son, Naviyd. He is my musical director.
“He has given me a curation of how much time in addition to the songs.”

Shoegaze legends Ride announce new album and share new single

OHMYGOSSIP — Ride went through a lot of “ups and downs” making their upcoming studio album, ‘Interplay’.
Former Oasis rocker Andy Bell’s 90s’ shoegaze group – completed by Mark Gardener, Laurence ‘Loz’ Colbert and Steve Queralt – reformed in 2014, and the new LP will mark their third studio effort since then, following 2017’s ‘Weather Diaries’ and 2019’s ‘This Is Not A Safe Place’.
Fans can check out the blistering lead single, ‘Peace Sign’, with the full album set to drop on March 29.
Expect “frenzied guitar attacks, hypnotic grooves and dreamy melodic hooks of their early work and setting it to a more expansive sonic template, inspired by 80s’ pop gems like Tears For Fears, Talk Talk and early U2.”
Andy explained how they had to “shake off the past” to be in the “good place” they are in now.
He said: “This album has taken a long time to make, and has seen the band go through a lot of ups and downs; maybe the most of any Ride album. But it has seen us come through the process as a band in a good place, feeling able to shake off the past, and ready to celebrate the combined musical talents that brought us together in the first place.”
On what inspired the new song, he added: “‘Peace Sign’ started life as a jam recorded at Marks’ OX4 studio, in early 2021. We called it ‘Berlin’ and initially it featured Loz on drums, Steve on bass and myself on a Prophet 5 synth. About six months later I got hold of the recording and wrestled it into song form. Lyrically I was inspired by a film called ‘The Alpinist’ about the visionary free climber Marc-André Leclerc. Soon after I’d finished working on the song I remember I was raving to my bandmates about Leclerc at OX4, and a good memory of that time was us all watching that film at Mark’s studio.”
Andy began his impressive music career in 1988 with Ride before forming Hurricane #1 in 1996.
In 1999, Andy joined Oasis as their new bassist along with Gem on guitar following the departures of original members Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs and Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan.
The pair remained in the group until 2009 when Noel Gallagher quit following a backstage bust-up with his brother, singer Liam Gallagher.
Liam, Andy, Gem and then-Oasis drummer Chris Sharrock went on to form new band Beady Eye, but after two LPs they split in 2014.

Ride’s ‘Interplay’ tracklist:
1.’Peace Sign’
2.’Last Frontier’
3.’Light in a Quiet Room’
4.’Monaco’
5.’I Came to See the Wreck’
6.’Stay Free’
7.’Last Night I Came Somewhere to Dream’
8.’Sunrise Chaser’
9.’Midnight Rider’
10.’Portland Rocks’
11.’Essaouira’
12.’Yesterday is Just a Song’

Sophie Ellis-Bextor relishes ‘extraordinary’ success in the US

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been amazed by her recent success in America.
The 44-year-old singer has seen her 2001 hit single, ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’, climb up the charts in recent weeks, after it featured in the psychological thriller film ‘Saltburn’, and Sophie has been wowed by her unlikely success in the US.
She told NME: “That’s what’s been quite extraordinary. To them it’s a new song, and that’s bonkers.
“It didn’t do anything there the first time around, and I’m fine with that. If I’ve learned anything along the way it’s that you’ve got to go where the momentum is.”
Sophie has previously struggled to achieve success in the US – but she’s now relishing the experience.
She shared: “The glamour of being big in America would have meant a lot of time away, and I’d rather go where there are already things happening.
“I had an absolute ball with the first record in Latin America, South East Asia and all these places – but if this ends up being something that takes me there now then let’s see what happens.”
Sophie also revealed how her track came to feature in the film.
She said: “A little while back I was asked for approval for having ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ featured in a film.
“I was told very little information apart from the key components, like: Emerald Fennell was the writer/director (and I was already familiar with her and thought she was great), that the film was called ‘Saltburn’ and that the main character would dance to the whole of the song with nothing on!”

Rush’s Alex Lifeson reveals arthritis is ‘slowly getting worse’ but he’s ‘used to it’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson has told how his arthritis is “slowly getting worse”, but he is now “used to it”.
The 70-year-old musician has suffered from psoriatic arthritis – a form of arthritis with a skin rash – for nearly 20 years, but the medication he is on to deal with it has been “very effective” over the years.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s ‘Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk’, he said: “I would say that’s slowly getting worse, as to be expected. I have psoriatic arthritis, and I’ve been dealing with it for quite a while – for almost 20 years.
“I’m on two biologics, so sort of like a double whammy in dealing with it. And it’s been very, very effective.
“Despite the side effects and all of that, it’s been a really effective regimen for me, and it’s really helped my hands.
“I have times where the inflammation has its own mind, and that’s when you’ll see me shaking my hands [while I am playing].
“But it is what it is, and I can still get by, and I’m so used to it, I don’t really even think about it that much anymore.”
Alex is no longer “interested” in hitting the road with his guitar.
He said: “[After] 40 years of touring, I’m not interested in touring anymore.
“I enjoyed it when we did it. There were lots of ups and downs.”
In June 2020, Alex admitted he hadn’t felt “inspired or motivated” to play music since drummer Neil Peart’s death aged 67, six months earlier in January 2020.
During an appearance on WFAN’s ‘Talkin’ Golf With Ann Liguori’ radio show, the ‘Time Stand Still’ group’s guitarist said at the time: “After Neil passed in January, I’ve played very little guitar.
“I don’t feel inspired and motivated.
“It was the same thing when [Neil’s] daughter died in a car accident in 1997; I didn’t really play for about a year.
“And I just don’t feel it in my heart right now.
“Every time I pick up a guitar, I just aimlessly kind of mess around with it and put it down after 10 minutes.
“Normally, I would pick up a guitar and I would play for a couple of hours without even being aware that I’m spending that much time. So I know it’ll come back.”

Mike Shinoda recalls being starstruck by System Of A Down

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Shinoda was in awe of System Of A Down when he saw them perform live for the first time.
The 46-year-old star – who co-founded Linkin Park in the mid-90s – has confessed to being starstruck by the award-winning band.
Speaking to NME, Mike recalled: “It was very minimal, it wasn’t like a full on ‘I can’t talk, I am completely overwhelmed’, it was that we played our first show with a local band that had just got signed called System Of A Down.
“And I was like ‘These guys are so cool and they just got signed at like a major record deal’. We opened for them and I met a couple of the guys and thought they were the coolest. I think they are just barely older than us but I was so impressed, I mean besides, they’re incredible so of course I was impressed.”
Linkin Park have enjoyed huge success over the years, but Mike previously insisted that the won’t re-issue any of their previous albums “if it’s not great”.
The musician said: “[There’s] nothing planned right now. I always just tell people like when there’s news I’ll give you the news. We’ve been doing it for a while and I think our expectation for what’s a proper reissue is kind of high.
“I don’t love putting out Greatest Hits stuff or putting out re-masters of things we’ve done, [so] if we were to do a re-reissue of one of our Linkin Park albums, we want it to be a big deal. If we can’t make it that quality then we won’t do it. If it’s not great then I don’t think we should do it.”

Ariana Grande’s new single ‘influenced by Madonna’s Vogue’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande’s new single has been heavily influenced by Madonna.
The 30-year-old pop star recently announced her long-awaited return to the music scene, and Ariana’s upcoming single, ‘Yes, And?’, has been strongly influenced by the chart-topping icon.
Ariana has used ‘Vogue’ – Madonna’s 1990 hit single – as the major influence behind her much-anticipated new track, according to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column.
Ariana is a self-confessed fan of the pop icon and she previously sang ‘Vogue’ during her Honeymoon tour back in 2015.
The brunette beauty also appeared on-stage as a surprise guest during Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour.
Ariana has previously admitted to having a huge admiration for Madonna’s longevity in the music business.
She told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe: “After everything she has accomplished, reshaping pop music and setting the bar higher and higher, I feel like she does it as she is still hungry and still loves it.
Ariana also revealed that Madonna’s attitude really “resonates” with herself.
The pop star said: “She has done what she needs to do – there are no more awards and hits she needs. She does it as she loves it and that resonates with me.”
Meanwhile, Ariana recently announced that ‘Yes, And?’ will be released on Friday (12.01.24).
The award-winning star took to social media earlier this month to confirm her return to the music scene.
Alongside a close-up photograph of her face, Ariana wrote on Instagram: “yes, and? [heart emoji] 1.12 (sic)”
The award-winning star – who released her last studio album, ‘Positions’, in 2020 – also shared a pre-save link and news of a physical CD on her Sweetener Instagram page.

OHMYGOSSIP — Noah Kahan has teased a new collaboration on social media.
The 27-year-old singer has taken to TikTok to tease a new track with an unnamed artist, and he’s even shared a clip of the record with his followers.
In the video message, Noah says: “Just popping in to tell you that I hear you, I’ve seen the comments, no more collaborations, we’re sick of them, ’cause I’ve heard it all I’ve decided to present you with yet another teaser for a new collaboration that I’m so excited about.
“This artist inspired this entire record, cannot wait for you guys to hear what we did.”
Noah then played a clip from the new song, which features vocals from the unnamed artist.
The lyrics read: “I would leave if only I could find a reason / I’m mean because I grew up in New England.
“I got dreams but I can’t make myself believe them / Spend the rest of my life with what could have been / And I will die in the house that I grew up in / I’m homesick.”
Noah’s 2022 single ‘Stick Season’ became a viral hit last year, and the singer previously admitted to being amazed by his own success.
Noah told NME: “I never thought this was gonna happen to me. I don’t have a lot of reference points for it.”

Sophie Ellis-Bextor plans a new album for 2024

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Ellis-Bextor is working on a new album.
The 44-year-old singer has revealed that she’s been busily working on a new record “with a lot of top writers”.
Sophie – who released her debut album, ‘Read My Lips’, back in 2001 – told NME: “I’ve been songwriting with plans for making a new record.
“I did three albums with [acclaimed songwriter and producer] Ed Harcourt and we’d always decided it was going to be a trio.
“In a weird bit of serendipity, I had plans to go back and work with people from my first album. It’s like I’ve bumped my head and it’s 2002 again. I’ve been working with a lot of top writers that I’m really fond of.”
Sophie found working with Ed to be a really “liberating” experience.
And the pop star is now feeling “really enthusiastic” about her new material.
She shared: “I felt so safe writing with Ed and found it really liberating. It was a decade of working together and I’m so grateful as I needed that space to write with complete freedom without second-guessing anything or sending it to a committee of people for their thoughts.
“Now it’s quite strange to go back out blinking into the light, but I’m feeling really enthusiastic.”
Meanwhile, Sophie has relished the recent success of ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’.
The singer released the pop hit in December 2001, and it’s enjoyed a revival over recent months, after it was featured in ‘Saltburn’, the Emerald Fennell-directed thriller film.
Sophie told ‘Newsbeat’: “It actually feels really magical. And if I’m honest, I don’t think I’ve completely processed it really.
“It’s extraordinary. It’s a song I’ve been singing for over 20 years, I still love singing it.
“I love the way people react when I do it live.
“But for new people to be discovering it, for it to be making new memories with people is kind of beautiful.”

Jennifer Hudson feels like ‘proud mom’ and predicts big things for Remember Monday

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Hudson feels like a “proud mother” after reuniting with Remember Monday.
The ‘Dreamgirls’ star mentored the trio – Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele – on the 2019 season of ‘The Voice UK’ so she was delighted to welcome them onto her talk show on Wednesday (09.01.24) and has predicted the ‘Drive’ hitmakers will “blow completely up” in the US.
She said: “I feel like a proud mother – I’m so proud of them.
“I think y’all are going to blow completely up over here in the States – that’s what I predict, that’s what I felt back then and that is why back doing the UK ‘Voice’ y’all caught one of my shoes that I threw at you – which is a compliment, by the way.
“I’m so proud of you ladies – keep up the good work; I know we’re going to see their names in lights”
The country-pop trio performed Alanis Morissette’s ‘Hand in My Pocket’ on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ because they know it always goes down well with fans.
They explained: “We sang ‘Hand in My Pocket’ by Alanis Morissette on the show, as we’ve covered it on our Tik Tok and Instagram multiple times, and every time we post it, it goes viral – the first time we posted it we received over 7.3M views and since then it has received an additional 4/5M across our different socials on other videos.”
Although they have been performing together since 2011, it is only after a successful 2023 – which included supporting Billy Joel at BST Hyde Park and a gig at the C2C Festival in London – that the trio have decided to focus on the band full time.
They said: “The decision to leave the careers we had all individually built for ourselves was a pretty tricky one to make – we were all just reaching the top of our game, and had worked extremely hard to get there.
“But we have always loved the band; it makes us so happy, and we were getting to the point where we realised if we didn’t fully commit to it we would really regret it. ”
And the group – who have just released their single ‘Laugh About It’ – are grateful for the boost Jennifer’s support offers them.
They said: ““We are so grateful for the support Jennifer has shown us over the years. She really championed us on The Voice in 2019, encouraging us to sing an original song rather than a cover, which has rarely been done on the show.
“Her interest in our band career has never wavered since – we’re so grateful for this opportunity to showcase ourselves as a band on US national TV, especially now, so soon after we’ve decided to give it a go full time.”
The trio plan to release a single every five weeks this year, with their ‘Hand in My Pocket’ cover set to come out on 12 January.

Ozzy Osbourne and Corey Taylor join Billy Morrison on new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne, Corey Taylor and more are set to appear on Billy Morrison’s new album.
The 54-year-old musician – primarily known for his work as Billy Idol’s rhythm guitarist – has announced his third solo album ‘The Morrison Project’ after signing a deal with The Label Group and Virgin Music, and he’s enlisted some big names to perform on the record.
As well as the Black Sabbath and Slipknot rockers, the collection will feature Ministry’s Al Jourgensen, Steve Vai and DMC from Run-DMC.
Also appearing across the 12 tracks are his Billy Idol bandmate Steve Stevens, 4 Non Blondes star Linda Perry, and Sabbath’s touring drummer Tommy Clufetos.
Billy revealed the exciting news this week and announced the album – which “features a ton of guest appearances by [his] friends” – will be released on April 19, with lead single ‘Drowning’ coming on February 23.
He added on Instagram: “For now, I’m just happy to tell you all it’s done, finished, the videos are shot, the plan is in motion, and I hope you all love it as much as I have loved making it!”
The collection is the follow-up to 2015’s ‘God Shaped Hole’ – which had Ozzy singing on closing track ‘Gods of Rock N Roll’ – which in turn came after his 2008 solo debut ‘Stimulator’
The veteran musician – who has also worked with the Cult, Circus Diablo and Camp Freddy over the years – insisted he wanted to let his collaborators “do their own thing” on the album.
He told Blabbermouth: “One of the greatest things about writing this album was being able to let my guest singers do their own thing.
“I would send them the track with no guidelines and just had them do whatever they felt.
“I think that gave those songs an energy and a life force that would not be there if I had tried to get involved in their lyrics or their melodies. And I loved everything they all did!”

The British-born rapper – who was raised in Atlanta, Georgia – has announced his latest LP ‘American Dream’, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s ‘I Am I Was’, will drop on Friday (12.01.24).

The artwork for the new collection features references to his non-US citizenship, having being born in London to British parents with Caribbean roots.
He moved to the US with his mother at the age of seven, and the album cover includes a childhood photo of Savage – real name Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph – and details of his immigrant visa.
The track listing is yet to be revealed, but the rapper has revealed that Young Thug, Brent Faiyaz and Summer Walker will all appear on the record.
Earlier this week, he released the trailer for upcoming biopic ‘American Dream: The 21 Savage Story’, which has been co-directed by ‘Atlanta’ collaborators Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori and Fam Udeorji.
Donald Glover appeared alongside ‘Stranger Things’ star Calbe McLaughlin, who both played the rapper at different ages.
The video also serves as a music video for an as yet unnamed track, which is likely to appear on Savage’s new album.
The musician’s manager Meezy recently gave a coy update on the album, and admitted even the mixes weren’t back set.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine for the January 2024 issue, he said: “He damn near don’t even like the fact that we be listening to it.
“That’s why he said it is not mixed. It might sound small, but it’s a really big deal for him.”

Skepta apologises after Holocaust backlash over new single artwork but won’t let art be ‘policed’

OHMYGOSSIP — Skepta won’t let his art be “policed” after backlash over the ‘Gas Me Up (Diligent)’ artwork.
The 41-year-old rapper has apologised and promised to be “more mindful” after the cover art for the song featured a group of men with shaved heads, with one having a tattoo with the words “Gas Me Up” on his head.
The image prompted fierce backlash as people saw parallels between the photograph and the Holocaust, which saw the deaths of Jewish people in gas chambers at the hands of the Nazis during World War Two.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Skepta said: “I’ve been waiting to drop ‘Gas Me Up (Diligent)’ since teasing it April last year, worked hard getting the artwork right for my album rollout which is about my parents coming to the UK in the 80’s, Skinhead, Football culture and it has been taken offensively by many and I can promise you that was definitely not our plan so I have removed it and I vow to be more mindful going forward.”
He later confirmed the release will go ahead “as planned”, as he shared images of 1990s Skinhead culture and explained while he can appreciate why it could be “deemed offensive”, it wasn’t his goal.
He wrote: “I can honestly see how my single artwork without context can be deemed offensive, especially in a time like this but again that was not my intention.
“But after some thought I don’t feel like I could continue being the artist you all know and love if my art is policed, I have to quit if I can’t express my art as I see it.
“So to help with context here are some pictures from our mood board for the 1980’s UK story for my album ‘Knife Fork’.
“‘Gas Me Up (DILIGENT)’ will be out January 26th as planned.”

Never before material from the duo’s personal archive – spanning 1984 to 2024 – will be available in digital forms, ranging from live recordings and demos to archival performances, bootlegs and rarities.
Greg added: “We wanted to use our 40th Anniversary as an opportunity to dive deep into the many boxes of demo cassette tapes, DAT tapes, CDRs, press clippings and old photographs we’ve accumulated throughout the years.
“I’ve been glancing at all these boxes for years wondering when, where and why to start looking through them.”
The duo are also hitting the tour for a special anniversary tour with a full band and “a few surprises”.
