OHMYGOSSIP — Usher’s Super Bowl performance “has to be perfect”.
The 45-year-old star is set to perform the Super Bowl Halftime Show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11, and Usher is determined to deliver a memorable performance for his fans.
The chart-topping star told Vogue: “It has to be perfect. I’ve been doing this for 30 years. I want people who have been a part of that journey to feel like it’s a celebration for everybody, for all of us, from the beginning up until this point.”
Usher also revealed that he wants fans to feel “hopeful” after watching his performance.
He shared: “People will tune in for a football game, but I hope when they look at that halftime performance, I’m hoping they walk away with something that’s healing them.
“Something that makes them feel hopeful, and not just look at the past, but have hope for the future, and have hope for a different type of future than we’re looking at right now in the present.”
Meanwhile, Usher recently thanked Rihanna for her support ahead of his Super Bowl performance.
The singer is following in Rihanna’s footsteps by performing the Halftime Show, and he thanked the ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker for her show of support.
In response to a video message from the Fenty founder, Usher wrote on X: “Real recognize real Thank U Queen @rihanna (sic)”
In the video, Rihanna hailed Usher as a “legend”.
Asked if she had any tips for him, Rihanna replied: “I can’t give Usher no advice. Usher is a natural, he’s a legend and he’s been doing this since he’s a teenager.”
The award-winning star also believes that he’s perfectly suited to performing the Halftime Show.
She said: “He’s made for that show. I get excited about entertainers who do this, who are built for it and he just proved that in Vegas that he’s not going anywhere.”

Dua Lipa calls out ‘obnoxious’ Britpop legends like Oasis and Blur for 1990s behaviour

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa has blasted “obnoxious” behaviour from the likes of Oasis and Blur in the 1990s.
The ‘Dance The Night’ hitmaker has heaped praise on the iconic Britpop acts but insisted while they have influenced her upcoming new album, she makes a conscious choice to “separate the art from the person”.
Asked if she’s met either of the bands, she told Rolling Stone magazine: “I haven’t had any encounters with them, actually.
“Sometimes you have to separate the art from the person… It’s more like the music element, the aspect of it that I’m really connected to.
“The way that [some Britpop artists] acted, the things that they’ve done, they’re obnoxious for sure. That’s their whole thing.”
The 28-year-old singer pondered the way people expected rock stars to behave in the past, and insisted things needed to change.
She added: “There’s so much toxicity in the way people wanted their artists or their musicians.
“If they weren’t like that, they would’ve been seen as boring, and I think that’s such a bad way to see things.”
However, Dua is taking inspiration from Britpop – and Oasis and Blur – when it comes to the vibe of her new material, which will form her first LP since 2020’s ‘Future Nostalgia’
She explained: “This record feels a bit more raw. I want to capture the essence of youth and freedom and having fun and just letting things happen, whether it’s good or bad.
“You can’t change it. You just have to roll with the punches of whatever’s happening in your life.”
Dua is chasing the idea of “lightness” in her approach to life, which is reflected on the songs she’s working on.
She saidL “I’m trying to move with a lightness, like ‘nothing is the end of the world’.
“Whatever happens is exactly the way it’s supposed to be.”

Ed Sheeran plans to fly between Asia and UK every week during tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran will fly home every week between shows on the Asian leg of his tour.
The ‘Bad Habits’ hitmaker is set to hit the road on a three month run of Japan before taking his live show to Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines, and he’s decided to make regular trips back to the UK to be with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their two daughters.
Calum Scott – who will be supporting the singer songwriter on the Mathematics tour – told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “He’s coming and going back home from Asia to be able to see his kids every week.
“He’s a really family and friends-driven kind of artist. That’s unreal jet lag though. I don’t know how he’ll cope with it – a lot of meltonin!”
The stint on the road – which will run until the end of March – has made Calum reflected on his own family life, and his goal of meeting his future partner.
He admitted: “Travelling around the world I have more chance of meeting my life-long partner than I have sitting in my front room on my sofa in my parts watching ‘Friends’ reruns.
“I want to be a dad. It would be nice to share that family adventure with someone significant.”
Being on the road so much has provided the inspiration behind Calum’s upcoming new single ‘Lighthouse’ – which will be released on Friday (19.01.24) – as he struggled with being away from home.
He added: “It was written at a time where I was really missing people.
“Being a home bird from Yorkshire, being away a lot, does really affect me and naturally it does come out in my writing.”

Girls Aloud announce special edition of What Will The Neighbours Say?

OHMYGOSSIP — Girls Aloud are releasing a special deluxe edition of ‘What Will The Neighbours Say?’
The group’s second album – which was released almost two decades ago in November 2004 – featured hit singles like ‘Jump’, ‘Love Machine’ and ‘I’ll Stand By You’, and now its getting a three disc edition packed with rarities, unreleased demos and exclusive remixes.
The collection – which will be released digitally and physically, including a first ever vinyl edition – will come with three unreleased tracks originally recorded 20 years ago and finally made available for the first time.
As well as a cover of Chris Isaac’s ‘Wicked Game’, the album will feature deep cuts ‘Disco Bunny’ and ‘Baby When You Go’, which remained in the vault after missing out on the original album.
Also included are B-sides like ‘History’ and ‘Androgynous Girls’, as well as rare TV performance edits of the band’s big hits, a “sparking selection” of remixes, and their covers from the era including Blondie’s ‘Hanging On The Telephone’ and Chaka Khan classic ‘I’m Every Woman’.
The band – made up of Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, and Nicola Roberts – will also be heading on the road in May and June this year to celebrate their anniversary.
Cheryl revealed the group had been discussing reunion plans for some time, but put the idea on ice when late band member Sarah Harding – who died in September 2021 – was diagnosed with breast cancer.
She said in a statement in November: “We all started talking about the possibility of doing something to celebrate Girls Aloud’s 20-year anniversary a few years ago.
“The anniversary seemed like an obvious thing that we would celebrate. But when Sarah fell ill all priorities changed.
“She passed away a year before the anniversary and it just didn’t feel right, it felt too soon.”
The group plan to use the tour to “celebrate” their late friend.
Cheryl added: “But now, I think there is an energy that does makes it feel right. It’s the right time to celebrate Sarah, it’s the right time to celebrate the band and the right time to celebrate the fact we can still do this 21 years later. That’s a big honour in lots of ways.”

Gabrielle announces new album and releases title track

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabrielle will release her new album ‘A Place In Your Heart’ this spring.
On Thursday (18.01.24), the 54-year-old star dropped the first single – and title track – from the upcoming record, which will be released on May 10.
The lead track from the LP has been described in a press release as a “perfect taster” for the full collection.
Gabrielle said: “I’m thrilled to be kicking off 2024 with new music, ‘A Place In Your Heart’ is the lead song from my new album of the same name.
“I loved performing the song during my 30 Years of Dreaming tour, it’s a booty shaker and I look forward to playing it at lots of festivals in the summer too.”
For the track, she continued her creative partnership with producer and co-writer Ian Barter, who has worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Paloma Faith.
They previously teamed up on 2018 album ‘Under My Skin’, and 2021 follow up ‘Do It Again’, with the latter hitting number four in the UK album charts, making it her best performing LP to date.
She previously reflected on her success, and admitted it would leave her younger self in awe.
She told The Big Issue magazine in 2021: “My younger self would be shocked if anyone had said she would have a bit of fame coming her way and she was going to land in the charts with the highest ever new entry for a debut single by a female artist. ‘Dreams’ went straight in at number two and then went to number one!”
Gabrielle insisted her success was “sweeter” because she hadn’t received any encouragement.
She added: “If you’d said all that to the girl with the lazy eyelid who wasn’t the most popular girl and who, according to some people, shouldn’t really dare to dream? Wow.
“But I’m glad I didn’t know because it’s made that success even sweeter.”

“There are so many artists I listen to that have been nominated as well, so it’s going to be a real ‘pinch me’ moment on the night.”
MOBO founder Kanya King commented: “We are thrilled to announce Babatúndé Aléshé and Indiyah Polack as the charismatic hosts for the 26th MOBO Awards.

Drake and J. Cole’s tour delayed

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake and J. Cole’s ‘It’s All a Blur Tour – Big As the What?’ tour has been delayed by a couple of weeks.
The pair’s jaunt was due to commence on January 18 with two consecutive nights in Denver, however, the first show will now take place on February 2 in Tampa Bay, Florida.
The Denver dates will now take place on April 15 and April 16.
Ticketmaster updated the tour dates, but there is no explanation for the pushback.
The ‘Rich Flex’ rapper added 10 extra dates to the run after he surprised fans by dropping the ‘Scary Hours 3’ EP, an extension to his latest LP ‘For All The Dogs’, in November.
Drake and Cole have collaborated a handful of times, including on the No. 1 hit ‘First Person Shooter’ and ‘Evil Ways’ from ‘For All the Dogs’.
Meanwhile, Drake’s rival Kanye West and his buddy Ty Dolla $ign have just delayed their joint album again.
After teasing fans about the release of ‘Vultures’, the collaborators were originally set to drop it on December 15, however, a representative for Kanye has now confirmed the collection will arrive on February 9.
It has gone through several date changes, with fans anticipating the record on New Year’s Eve, then January 12, and January 19, before the month was swapped.
They have encountered several issues, struggling to get samples cleared. It’s said to feature a Backstreet Boys sample of their 90s’ hit ‘Everybody’.
What’s more, there were plans for Nicki Minaj’s unreleased tune ‘New Body’ to feature, which was originally set to feature on Kanye’s LP ‘Yandhi’ in 2018 but was scrapped.
And Nicki didn’t want an old song to be used.
When the record does finally arrive, it will be the first project for Kanye since he ruined his career by making a series of controversial antisemitic statements, which led to brands cutting ties with the ‘Stronger’ rapper.

Mick Mars wins victory in Motley Crue lawsuit

OHMYGOSSIP — Mick Mars has won a victory in his ongoing lawsuit against his former Motley Crue bandmates.
The ‘Home Sweet Home’ rockers – Vince Neil, 62, Nikki Sixx, 65, and Tommy Lee, 61 – have been ordered to pay the 72-year-old guitarist’s legal fees after they took eight months to supply corporate documents to him.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James C. Chalfant is quoted by Rolling Stone as saying in his ruling on Tuesday (16.01.24): “The requests were not burdensome. Yet, Mars was compelled to file suit, and it appears plain that production would not have occurred without it. Mars is entitled to attorney fees.”
The trio – who replaced Mick with 53-year-old axe-slayer John 5 – had claimed that the documents they presented on November 2, were “all of the responsive documents” they had.
However, it turned out they failed to supply incorporation and income tax returns as part of the 1,372 pages sent over in early December.
Chalfant wrote: “These documents should have been produced without the need for prodding by Mars.
“[The] failure to produce the documents earlier than December 8 amounts to a refusal.”
Despite this, the judge ruled that the lawsuit is “moot” because of Mars’ later request for 2023 general ledger entries because they were not listed by him.
Motley view this as their own victory and consider the case done and dusted.
Their attorney Sasha Frid told the publication: “The case is over. That’s the key takeaway.
“By denying the petition as moot and ending the case, the court found that the band turned over all the documents to Mars and there is nothing more to do. The band went above and beyond its obligations by providing much more documents than the statute required – indeed, the court’s decision explained the thousands of documents that the band provided to Mars.”
However, there is still the private arbitration to take place later this year, which will decide if Mars should have to pay back his shares in the ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ band.
He filed a lawsuit at Los Angeles County’s Superior Court in April 2023, in which he claimed his bandmates had been “gaslighting” him and belittling his musicianship.
In his original filing, he accused the glam metal band of trying to force him out after he had to step back from touring due to longstanding health issues that have worsened.
Mars claimed he would have remained a member of the band regardless of his retirement from touring.
Mars’ lawyer Ed McPherson called the trio “bullies”.
He told Rolling Stone: “Finally, somebody, somewhere told these guys they can’t bully Mick anymore. We’re in the middle of a huge arbitration that will ultimately decide if Mick has to give up his shares or not, if they did things properly or not. Obviously we claim they didn’t do anything properly. But they feel that they’re above the rules. And that’s what this lawsuit was about.”
He added: “This was them feeling they were above the rules, and this judge saying, ‘No, you’re not. And you may have given all the documents now, so there’s nothing left for me to do, but, you’re going to pay for it.
“I think that’s a pretty huge victory for Mick. If they want to claim a victory, that’s fine. But this is someone finally telling Mick, ‘No, you’re not crazy. These guys are bullying you. And we’re not going to let it happen.'”

The Dandy Warhols unveil new album and new song with Pixies’ Frank Black

OHMYGOSSIP — The Dandy Warhols have unveiled their new album ‘Rockmaker’.
The Courtney Taylor-Taylor-fronted American rock group have announced their follow-up to 2020’s ‘Tafelmuzik Means More When You’re Alone’.
The lead tune, ‘Dancing With Myself’, features Pixies rocker Frank Black aka Black Francis, and is out now.
Speaking about how the song started life, Courtney, 56, shared: “It started with a riff that either sounded like Misfits or Danzig and then got slowed down.”
On working with the ‘Where Is My Mind’ hitmaker, 58, he continued: “I was just checking in with him, and he happened to be in Zürich.
“I hooked him and some of his family up with some very interesting museum tours first, then I asked him if he would play on our record.”
The Warhols felt compelled to put out a “heavy guitar record” as they don’t feel there are many these days that are up to scratch.
On what to expect from the LP, he added: “Sometimes we have a very focused idea of what we want. It’s generally what we want somebody else to make but since they never do, we have to. It has a very specific sound. There aren’t a lot of heavy guitar records currently coming out that we like, so that was the impetus for Rockmaker.”
‘Rockmaker’ is released on March 15.

The ‘Rockmaker’ tracklisting
1. ‘The Dooms Day Bells’
2. ‘Danzig With Myself’ (feat Black Francis)
3. ‘Teutonic Wine’
4. ‘Summer Of Hate’
5. ‘I’d Like To Help You With Your Problem’
6. ‘The Cross’
7. ‘Root Of All Evil’
8. ‘Must’ve Always Been A Thing’

FKA Twigs teases techno influence for new album

OHMYGOSSIP — FKA Twigs has teased a new techno-inspired album.
The 36-year-old musician has updated fans on the music she’s been working on, and she revealed she had been working in the studio on a new record – which is “coming out this year” – with electronic musician and collaborator Koreless.
Speaking on her Discord server on Tuesday (16.01.24) – her birthday – she said: “I moved to Prague a couple summers ago, fell in love with techno.
“The album isn’t techno but the spirit is there for real.”
It sounds like the influence of electronic music will be felt heavily throughout the upcoming collection – which will be her first full length since 2019’s ‘Magdalene’ – as she referenced electronic duo Two Shell elsewhere in the chat.
Asked what music she’s been listening to, she added: “I’m finishing my album so not really listening to a lot of music right now. I like Two Shell.”
And although FKA Twigs – whose real name is Tahliah Barnett – has worked with some “talented friends” on the new LP, the album won’t feature as many collaborators as 2022 mixtape ‘CAPRISONGS’.
She explained: “‘CAPRISONGS’ was collab heavy. I don’t like to repeat myself.”
At the time, she described the album as a way to document her journey “falling in love with music and herself all over again.”
She posted on Instagram alongside the artwork at the time: “Hey i made you a mixtape, because when i feel you, i feel me and when i feel me, it feels good…
“‘CAPRISONGS’ is my journey back to myself through my amazing collaborators and friends.”
Back in October, the ‘Killer’ singer insisted she wouldn’t be releasing any new music for a while after 85 of her demos were leaked online.
She announced on her Instagram Story at the time: “i got hacked somebody leaked 85 of my demos.
“well done. no new music for a while now bye. (sic)”

No Doubt set to reunite at a Coachella headlined by Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator and Doja Cat

OHMYGOSSIP — No Doubt are reuniting at Coachella.
The Ska group best known for hits including ‘Just A Girl’ and ‘Don’t Speak’, are among the acts set to perform in the Southern Californian desert this April.
The ‘Spiderwebs’ group haven’t performed with frontwoman Gwen Stefani since 2015, whilst their last studio album was 2012’s ‘Push and Shove’.
No Doubt also comprises Adrian Young, Tony Kanal and Tom Dumont.
Coachella returns to the Empire Polo Club in Indio on April 12 to 14 and April 19 to 21.
It’s not known what dates No Doubt will play.
However, the first lineup poster revealed Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator and Doja Cat as the headliners.
Peso Pluma, DJ Peggy Gou, and Suki Waterhouse – who is pregnant with her first child with Robert Pattinson – Sabrina Carpenter, Tyla, and more are set to play the two Fridays.
Joining Tyler, The Creator on the Saturdays will be Britpop legends Blur, rapper Ice Spice, rising indie group The Last Dinner Party, Grimes, Raye, and many more.
And Doja will be joined by the likes of J Balvin, Lil Yachty, Renee Rap, Bebe Rexha, Victoria Money, and BICEP on both Sundays.
The 2022 edition of the popular music extravaganza was thrown into chaos when Frank Ocean cancelled his second headline show due to injury.
Bizarrely, Blink-182, Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred Again were his replacements.

Ed Sheeran’s Cradle of Filth collaboration is finally coming out this year

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran’s Cradle of Filth collaboration will finally be released this year.
The symphonic metal band’s frontman Dani Filth, 50, revealed in 2021 that he and the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker, 32, had exchanged emails about a surprising duet, and it’s officially set to be included in their follow-up to ‘Existence Is Futile’.
Speaking to Pelna Kulturka, Dani teased: “Well, one of the surprises, obviously, but it’s not so much a surprise is that we’ve got a song that we have Ed Sheeran guesting on.
“People have heard it and loved it. But it is what you imagine – it’s Cradle Of Filth and it’s Ed Sheeran. It sounds like Ed Sheeran, it sounds like Cradle Of Filth. There’s a blast beat in it.”
The ‘Nymphetamine’ hitmaker insists the album is not an attempt to have “commercial” success.
He continued: “I think it’s gonna surprise a lot of people, the album. But it doesn’t necessarily mean the album is commercial. It’s a very heavy record. We just upped the game as a band. We moved one step further toward the future from our previous record.”
Dani previously revealed he would like to do the song with the Grammy winner for charity.
He told Kerrang!: “I’ve actually been e-mailing with [Ed]… He actually touched base with me. I’ve been invited up to his place. Well, he said he could come down to mine, but I pointed out to him that I don’t own my own bar or village, and it’d be better if I went there.
“He said he’d do anything. Quite literally. He said he’s a massive fan. He seems like a genuinely very nice guy actually…
“I think the Ed Sheeran collaboration would be great fun. I think it’d be great if we did it for charity, because at least it would bring a bit of credibility to it. Because obviously to his public, it’d be, like, Oh my god, he’s got this weird comical guy,’ and to my public it’d be, like, ‘Oh my god, this is a bit weird, isn’t it? But I think that sort of thing nowadays works.”
Ed surprised his fans in 2022 when he teamed up with heavy rockers Bring Me The Horizon on a heavy version of his pop hit ‘Bad Habits’.

Doja Cat appears to tease tracklisting for Scarlet 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Doja Cat has seemingly shared the track-listing for ‘Scarlet 2’.
The 28-year-old rapper dropped the album in September to acclaim, her fourth studio effort in total, and it looks like a sequel is coming.
The ‘Paint The Town Red’ hitmaker took to her Instagram Story to post the songs list on a whiteboard, sending fans into a frenzy.
It read: “S2
“ACKNOWLEDGE ME
HAADHIGH
GANG
MASC
RIDER
URRRGE!!!!
HUNGRY.”
So it looks like a seven-song follow-up is on the way.
The ‘Say So’ hitmaker is embarking on her first headline European arena run in 2024, the ‘Scarlet Tour’, including dates in Glasgow, Birmingham, London, and Newcastle in June.
Meanwhile, she recently hit out at claims she is a “copycat” and “flat-out unoriginal”.
The ‘Agora Hills’ hitmaker – who samples Dionne Warwick’s ‘Walk On By’ on the chart-topping hit ‘Paint The Town Red’ – insists it’s “impossible” for her to not have a unique style even if she is inspired by “the greats”.
Speaking to Ice Spice for Instagram’s ‘Close Friends Only’ podcast, Doja said of the misconceptions about her: “One is that I’m unoriginal.
“There’s a lot of people who think I, like, copy people. I pull a lot from — copy the greats… Then there’s some people who are like, ‘She’s flat-out unoriginal.’ That’s impossible!”
The star had hit back at those branding her work satanic on ‘Scarlet’.
Doja confronted her critics on tracks like ‘Skull And Bones’, in which she reacted to accusations the video for her track ‘Demons’ worships the devil.
She raps: “Y’all been pushin satan this, and satan that / My fans is yellin ‘least she rich,’ you need that pact / Lookin like I got some things you hate I have / And trust me baby, God don’t play with hate like that / So you gon be real upset when he pick Cat. (sic)”

Slipknot star Sid Wilson teases ‘new look’ and era

OHMYGOSSIP — Slipknot star Sid Wilson has teased a “new look” and era for the band.
The masked metal icons could be set for a change after the turntablist posed in new headgear while holding an older mask, and he hinted at something exciting on the way.
Sharing a professional shot to tease the fresh look, he wrote on Instagram: “Say goodbye to this guy and get ready for the new look.”
Despite the post pointing heavily at an aesthetic change, some fans immediately became concerned for his future in the group.
One fan replied: “For a moment I thought Sid is also saying goodbye.”
And another added: “Christ almighty, I thought he was saying goodbye… don’t do that to us!”
While he looks to be staying put, the misunderstanding does come after some recent lineup changes, with keyboardist Craig Jones leaving in June 2023 – five months before the band surprisingly sacked longtime drummer Jay Weinberg.
Confirming his departure in a statement, the remaining band members thanked him “for his dedication and passion over the past ten years”.
They continued: “No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honoured Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it.” The group vowed: “Slipknot is intent on evolving.
“The band has decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”
The drummer later admitted he had no idea he was going to be axed from the line-up.
In a post on Instagram, he wrote: “I was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after.
“However, I’ve been overwhelmed by – and truly grateful for – the outpouring of love and support I’ve received from this incredible community I consider to be my creative and artistic home.”

‘It would be fun to work with her!’ Billie Joe Armstrong keen for Olivia Rodrigo collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Joe Armstrong would love to work with “talented” Olivia Rodrigo at some point.
The Green Day frontman is keen to team up with the 20-year-old singer-songwriter, but admitted he doesn’t deliberately buy or stream any of her music.
When speaking about a comparison between Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’, which was released in 2004, and artists of theatrical backgrounds, including Olivia, Billie told Vulture: “I hear it but don’t go out buying any of those records or stream it.
“It does pass me by. When I hear it, I think it sounds good.
“I think it would be fun to work with her sometime. She’s talented.”
Billie also insisted he is an “encyclopaedia” when it comes to knowledge of punk rock.
He added: “Sometimes you can see how someone is interested in what punk rock is and maybe they don’t quite have some of the influences or knowledge that I have on the history of punk rock.
“I’m kind of an encyclopaedia. To do something with someone like Olivia Rodrigo would be fun.”
Billie recently told how he immersed himself in British culture while recording Green Day’s new album in London.
The rockers laid down most of the tracks for their new record ‘Saviors’ at RAK Studios in the English capital, and Billie made the most of his time in the city by heading out to watch football teams including Arsenal, Fulham and Millwall to get a glimpse into how Brits spend their weekends.
